Rekindling the flames lost[Rewriting]

Summary:

Izuku Midoriya, in another world, he would be known as the hero-in-training: Deku, the protégé of All Might and the Successor of One For All, being tasked with fighting against its counterpart All For One. Yet in this world, he never received the mantle, meaning he was never tasked with fighting a 200 year old evil. But instead, he will be fighting a war.

or:
Midoriya gets sent to my oc universe, and returns with stuff.

Notes:

I hope you enjoy this, since I don't even know what the fuck I was writing... But I basically had this idea running through my head, and since I was also thinking of my OC universe, I decided fuck it and combined the two. My OC universe would probably be posted here as well(If I actually had the balls to...) so... yeah.

God, I'm awkward. But again I hope you enjoy.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Flames Burning out

Chapter Text

Izuku Midoriya searched for the notebook that his childhood friend: Katsuki Bakugou, launched out of the window with his quirk. Surely burning the cover, he continued his search until he located it at the koi pond. He rushes to pick up the soaking notebook.

“Stupid Kacchan…what if I actually did it? Now what?” A green-haired teen muttered, swaying his wet notebook, attempting to save the contents. The words of his childhood friend still fresh on his mind, words that could have ruined the ash-blonde teen’s career before it even had begun. He stared at the cover of his notebook, the smudge title of ‘ Hero Analysis for The Future No.13 ’ being barely visible due to the scorch marks.

He frowned, tears slowly beginning to form. “I-I only wanted to s-save people…is that really so bad?” He asked no one, tears beginning to drip. The green-haired teen only wanted to become one thing and that was a hero who could save lives with a smile, yet ever since he was diagnosed quirkless that dream slowly started to deflate.

A sigh escaped his mouth, wiping the tears that had formed, now the young teen didn’t know what to do. He picked up his items and began walking, wandering, trying to walk off the sorrow. In his haze he never noticed where he was walking, he had just passed an underpass.

As he walked he noticed something strange, he stopped, snapping him out of his daze. The area in front of him became distorted, he moved his head scanning the area.

“W-wha..?” He only managed to mutter, before his eyes blurred. His mind felt light, his body slowly felt heavier as his legs slowly collapsed. He fought trying to remain awake, pouring as much willpower as he could, yet it was fruitless. His eyes finally closed, his mind drifted into unconsciousness.

Dean Chronos grabbed his mug from the cupboard, lightly dousing with water to remove dust before making his signature coffee brew. As he finished adding the last teaspoon of sugar, he poured the hot water into the cup, taking it back to his office.

His office was simple, with a dark oak desk with the institutions crest. As he set his cup of coffee down, he received a call from his desk phone. Picking it up, he heard the voice of one of his staff: Athena. He frowned, while being one of her staff(more specifically acting as a professor), she was also in charge of logistics and magnetic disturbance(MD) detection.

“Good morning, Athena. Is there a reason why you called this fine morning?” He asked, trying to snuff out the worry of a gate appearing.

Good morning to you as well, Sir. And yes, there is a purpose for this call, an MD has been detected somewhere on the island.” She said, her words laced with worry. Chronos frowned, a gate appearing on the island had never occurred before.

“I see, I will inform the rest of the student-body and staff. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, now hurry and pinpoint it.” He replied, putting the phone down. He grabbed the mic on his desk and pressed a button near it, activating it.

The PA system activated, the buzzing of the speaker was heard before the serious tone of the Dean was heard. “Good Morning, an MD has been detected, on the island. All students and staff should be on high-alert, specific location is TBA, so proceed with caution.” He announced, before turning off the machine.

Jason didn’t know how to feel, it was currently the start of the third week of his participation in Project Argos thus attending the Argos Institute, and several months after receiving his Applied Mutation(Overclock) and his selection of joining the project from his unit.

The student’s task task for week three was simple, form a squadron consisting of 10 members. He has managed to recruit Orpheus, who was currently in his homeroom, while Jason was walking in the hallways.

Then he heard a buzzing noise causing him to stop, he frowned searching for the origins of the noise. His eyes noticed the lights slightly dimming, his eyebrow arching wondering what could cause it. Then he noticed the area in front of him distorting, he took distance, pulling out a firearm loaded with rubber rounds. Then he heard the PA system activate.

“Good Morning, an MD has been detected, on the island. All students and staff should be on high-alert, specific location is TBA, so proceed with caution.” He announced, before turning off the machine.” He heard the dean announce.

“Ah, shit…” He muttered, pointing his gun towards the distortion. As the lights flicker on and off, the distortion becomes a rip in space, shining a bright light, temporarily blinding Jason.

As he rubbed his eyes, regaining his vision. He stared at the outcome of the distortion, there was no gate forming. The lights were steady and where the distortion was, there was an unconscious green-haired teen on the floor, wearing black uniform with a yellow backpack.

He holstered his firearm, before approaching the teen.

“Hello? Are you alright?” He asked. Receiving no response, he placed his fingers on the teen for a pulse, his heart beating abnormally fast. As he discovered the teen had a pulse his heart rate calmed down. He carefully picked up the teen, and walked towards the clinic.

“I hope you’re alright…” He said, as he exited the hallway he was in.

It took him several minutes before he arrived in front of the clinic, he pushed the door open with his foot. The door rang, catching the attention of the two employees, Asclepius and Phobos. The former being the head nurse, while the latter being the psychotherapist.

Asclepius approached Jason, asking him what happened and why he had a teen in his arms. “Found what came out of the distortion.” He simply replied. Phobos approached Jason, asking for the teen. Jason agreed and passed the teen as Phobos laid the green-haired teen on the white bed, Phobos exited the main room to grab simple medical supplies and report the teen’s sudden appearance.

“Thank you for bringing him straight here, while we are not sure of the teens origins. We are under duty required to assist. So, please return back to your homeroom and explain that you went to the clinic. I will inform the Dean once the child is conscious.” Asclepius instructed. Jason nodded and left the clinic in favor of returning back to his homeroom, as Jason had exited the facility, Asclepius approached the unconscious teen.

The masked nurse began inspecting the teen for any visible injuries, while he was checking his pulse, the green-haired teen opened his eyes.

([Why?]: Dialogue in English)

Izuku didn’t understand what happened, he felt himself collapse on the floor, float and fall on the floor. He opened his eyes, he saw a black-haired man wearing a white face-mask staring at him. Due to him still adjusting, he blinked a few times before he screamed.

“[Easy kid, easy. A student of ours found you unconscious and brought you here to the clinic.]” The masked man said trying to calm the screaming teen, it took Izuku a few moments of trying to understand what the man had said, before realizing that it was in English.

“[Uhm, wh-who are you?]” Izuku asked.

“[You could call me Asclepius.]” Asclepius replied, causing the teen’s brow to furrow. ‘Asclepius? The Greek god of medicine? Am I dead? I can’t be dead rig-’

“[Kid, I’ve got a feeling you're asking a lot of questions in your mind, but to sum it up: you're still alive. And, our codenames are based on Greek figures.]” A new voice interrupted the teen’s mental spiral, Izuku moved his head to search for the source of the voice, his eyes landing towards a man wearing a long white coat with a respirator, holding a bag.

“[Hey there, kiddo. My codename is Phobos. While that man over there-]” Phobos pointed his thumb towards Asclepius, “[-Is the head nurse, while I’m-]”, pointing his thumb to himself “[-the therapist.]”

“[Phobos, have you finished filing the report?]” Asclepius asked, which Phobos only replied with the scoff.

“[Focus on healing the child first, and to answer your question, yes. Yes I did.]” Phobos answered, handing the bag over towards Asclepius.

“[Fine, fine.]” Asclepius said, rolling his eyes. He turned his head towards Izuku and began unpacking his equipment.

“[Alright kid, I need you to remove your shirt, I need to check your breathing.]” Asclepius instructed, causing the teen to flinch. Phobos managed to catch the sight and his brow raised.

“[D-do I, um, re-really need to?]” The green-haired teen stuttered, both adults getting slightly worried.

“[Uhm, yes? I need to check up on you, since you were found collapsed on the floor.]” Asclepius answered, leaving no room for debate. The teen only nodded and started unbuttoning his uniform, a collection of scars and burns. Both adults were wide-eyed, a teen that looks no less than 13 having this many scars?

“[I have a question for you…?]” Asclepius asked, wincing, realizing that he forgot to ask the teen’s name.

“[Midoriya, Izuku.]” Midoriya replied.

“[I see, are you safe at home Mr. Midoriya?]” Asclepius asked, the likelihood of a teen his age receiving those injuries at school was unlikely, so the next place where he is likely to receive injuries like that is at home.

Midoriya’s eyes were wide, and immediately began denying everything in Japanese. “No, no, no, no! Mom wouldn’t do any of this! She wouldn’t hurt me!” He said, never realizing if the adults might know Japanese.

“[Calm down, I understand that you might think that, but it’s difficult to gain any of that anywhere else! Scars? Sure maybe, but burns? Those are very difficult to gain en masse outside.]” Asclepius explained.

“[B-but she didn’t! I know she didn’t! She wholeheartedly loves me!]” Midoriya rebutted.

“[Then where did those come from? I’m only worried for your safety.]” Asclepius replied filled with concern..

The teen swallowed the air in his throat, steeling himself. He buttoned himself up, hiding his collection of scars and burns.

“[My c-classmates! They used their quirks o-on me!]” Midoriya stated, the silence never fully engulfed the room due to the hum of the air conditioner.

It was almost as if they were punched in the stomach by Hestia with her bone gauntlets, the shock practically freezing both adults. They felt a wide range of emotion, anger, range, sadness and most of all disbelief.

Asclepius and Phobos only stared in bewilderment with the new information given, the injuries that he gained that somehow left visible scars were caused not at home, but at school?!

They are physically trying not to throw up, classmates? The people he should call friends, gave him those scars?! WHAT WERE THE TEACHERS DOING?!?!?

It may be a bias due to them working at the Argos Institution, which had a very strict rule regarding physical harassment. But what type of school district would allow that?!

Before their mind spiraled into a stream of questions, the door to the clinic opened revealing the Dean of the institution and their fellow employee, Athena.

“[Good morning, gentlemen.]” Chronos spoke clearly, eyeing the two medical staff before moving his eyes towards the green-haired teen.

“[Ah, yes. If the report was correct, you are the ‘result’ of the disturbance. Well, I welcome you to Argonautica, the man-made island housing the Argos Institution.]” He greeted the teen, with a welcoming smile.

(Assume the dialogue for this part to be solely English.)

Minutes before Athena and Chronos arrived at the clinic.

Athena was hard at work in her own office, running as many tests as required to pinpoint the location of the disturbance, fearing the worst. She knew firsthand how much damage those abominations can do, the students were all trained soldiers yes, but they had yet to master their A.M.(Applied Mutation).

As she ran the test once again, she received an email from Phobos, to say she was confused and to put it lightly, Athena and Phobos have a messy relationship due to a disagreement they had. She shook her head, ignoring the past, ‘There is a bigger issue right now.’ She told herself.

She opened the email wondering what it was about, she read the title ‘Anomaly resulted from the Disturbance’. Everything in her mind fully halted, anomaly? She began reading the email, and more questions appeared than answers. When she finished reading the email, she forwarded the email to the Dean before heading towards his office.

Her office was situated at the top of the tallest building, so going down would always take some time. While the Dean’s office was at the heart of Argonautica, a few minutes drive by bike. As she reached the bottom floor of the building she was in, she unlocked her bike. Getting on, she rushed straight towards the main building.

When she reached the entrance of the main building, she was met with the Dean patiently waiting for her.

“Sorry for being late sir, going down takes a bit out of time, and getting here adds more.” Athena apologized, which caused Chronos to smile and waved her worries off. “It is not that much of an issue, but now that you’re here. Let us head towards the clinic.” Athena nodded and followed Chronos.

When they entered the building, they took several turns before arriving in front of the clinic. The glass window of the door reveals the inhabitants, the two medical staff and the supposed ‘anomaly’, which took the form of a green-haired Japanese teen with a diamond freckle pattern on each cheek.

The opened the door, Chronos greeted Asclepius and Phobos, before welcoming the green-haired teen. After the greetings Athena took this as the opportunity to speak with the teen.

“Hi, my codename is Athena, and I’ll be asking permission to use my Applied Mutation, will that be alright?” Athena explained, asking the teen. Who only looked at her with confusion and excitement? She brushed it off, maybe she was misreading the teen.

“Um, what does Applied Mutation mean? And what is your mutation going to do?” The teen innocently asked, Athena understood the kid’s questions.

“Well, in a nutshell: an Applied Mutation is, for lack of the better word, superpowers. And mine is called Information Plugs, it allows me to view the memories of an individual.” She answered, keeping to herself a few details, like how said mutations are gained.

Almost as if it was Christmas, the teen’s eyes lit up, being filled with interest. He opened his mouth and a stream of Japanese exited it, and based on Athena’s skill in languages, the teen was asking a lot of questions.

“Woah there, calm down. I’ll be happy to answer your questions later, but may I use it?” Athena stopped the teen, while she requested permission. Which caused the green-haired teen to stop followed by a light blush, as he muttered apologies in English.

“It’s fine, it’s fine. But may I use it on you?” She asked again, this time the teen frantically nodded. Athena smiled, the teen was very straight-forward with his emotions, wearing his heart on his sleeve.

“Thank you, Mr..?” Athena asked, never getting the teen’s name.

“M-Midoriya.” Midoriya muttered.

“Thank you, again Mr. Midoriya!” She exclaimed, as her finger tips popped off, hanging by hinges of resembling bones. Her hand now resembled a claw, not with sharp talons, but wit metallic plugs. She brought her hand closer towards Midoriya, who only stared in awe, questions rapid-firing.

As soon as the plugs made contact with Midoriya, he stopped mid-question. As if he was frozen in time, which meant that Athena now has access to his memory. ‘Let’s see who you really are.’ She muttered to herself, beginning the search through the files of his memory.

Izuku Midoriya was excited, who could blame him? Ever since he was a child, his quirklessness lit the fire of analysis within him. So when he heard that she has a mind reading quir- no, she said mutation(which also adds even more questions!), he was beyond ecstatic.

When the plugs touched him, everything stopped for a second, before everything continued. Athena removed her plugs from him, her face decorated with horror, disgust and pity, she motioned her hands. Causing the Dean and Phobos to move, following her as they went to the back.

Midoriya didn't know what was going on, he searched through the room, realizing the nurse was not near him anymore. That is until he spots the figure of the nurse.

“Uhm, where are they going?” He asked the remaining medical staff, who were filing papers on a desk nearby. He raised his head, to stare at the teen, before replying “They need to discuss something related to your past.”.

Midoriya let out an ‘oh’, before staring at the white sheets of the bed. He patiently waited for the adults to return, while listening to the hum of the air conditioning. He heard steps and a chair move, causing him to move his to where it originated from. Asclepius moved to sit next to Midoriya’s bed, it was awkward for a few moments.

‘I hope I’m still allowed to ask Athena regarding her mutations, but if she has one wouldn’t that mean that?’ He thought, moving his head to the nurse working.

“D-Do you have a mutation too?” He asked the nurse, causing the nurse to stop working and stare at Midoriya. Who soon started panicking due to the analytical stare of the nurse.

“Yeah, I do have one too.” Asclepius answered, causing Midoriya’s eyes to widen.

“What’s it called?” He asked.

“Ichor.” Asclepius replied.

“What does it do?” He asked, wishing he had his noteboo-, oh, he noticed the bag next to him. He began rummaging through it for a relatively empty notebook and a pencil.

Asclepius only stared at the teen, curious, when he pulled out the notebook he understood what he wanted to do. A small smile appeared on the nurse beneath the mask, ‘this kid’s got an interesting hobby.’ he thought to himself. When he noticed the teen’s ready and waiting, the smile grew.

“Ichor, a mutation that falls under the Energy Reservoir category. The variant I gained was simple, I could not disperse the energy as energy, so it concentrated on my blood. The energized blood acts like panacea, healing injuries, that’s the simple way of explaining it.” Asclepius said, staring at the teen, who’s eyes were filled with stars. ‘By the look of things, he also finished writing.’.

“How much blood does it take to heal someone? Is the effectiveness of the healing based on the amount of blood and potency? What happens if I dilute the blood with a liquid? Does it lose effectiveness? How would it affect amputated limbs? Does it regrow the limb or does it heal and return into a stump? How would it affect cauterized wounds? Would it heal it or would it not work? Is it cell growth?” Midoriya finished his stream of questions, taking a deep breath then staring at the stunned Asclepius waiting for an answer. Realizing what he just did, he began going into a stream of apologies, causing Asclepius to snap out.

“Woah there, kid. Calm down, you don’t need to apologize. I was simply amazed by your questions, that’s all.” Asclepius said, snapping the teen out of the stream of apologies. Who simply blushed at the compliment.

“O-oh, thank you!” He replied, smiling sheepishly.

“You deserve it kid, most just accept it as that. But to answer your questions, it depends on the injury. Yup. It produces a small flame. Nope. Depends really, freshly lost limbs will regrow, while stumps will remain the same. Cauterized wounds won’t heal, so I usually just remove the wound. Bingo, kid.” Asclepius answered, smiling at the last question, since again most of the patients never asked.

Midoriya took the answers and began writing everything down in the notebook, smiling as he filled the page with the trivia provided and started filling another page with theories on how Ichor works.

Asclepius only smiled at the sight, it was wholesome to see a kid so interested in something that they began writing it down and started creating theories. ‘Kid has a good head on his shoulders, that’s for sure’ Asclepius thought to himself.
