Yet another death claimed by the boatem hole

Summary:

Grian flies back from a trip to the desert at night but doesn't make it back home...

Work Text:

Grian was flying back to the boatem village after his expedition. It was late at night and the many phantoms following him every night since he stopped sleeping were starting to notice his presence in the sky. Trying to get back as soon as possible he flew higher and higher, hoping the phantoms wouldn’t follow him up so high in the bright moonlight. To his surprise however, they did follow him. He tried to fight them, but there was a lot and they were fast. Faster than he could kill with his arms full of shulker boxes. One managed to bite his wing and that was the start of his demise. Grian turned around to get his revenge on the phantom but a swarm of them attacked his wings, having realized it was his weakness. He bit back a sob and tried to shoo them away but to no avail. He tried fleeing but again failed miserably. He was crashing down, not being able to slow down with his damaged wings. The sharp wind bringing tears to his eyes.

*That landing is gonna hurt.* He thought bitterly. *I should have been more careful, at least I'm close to my base, I'll be able to get the shulker boxes before they despawn.*

That was until he realized *where* he was actually falling. Grian tried in vain to move, to open his wings and glide away, to get a firework to propulse him away, anything. But with his teary eyes and arms full of stuff he couldn't do anything to save himself from the worst possible fate. The earth came back in view and confirmed he was falling straight into *the boatem hole*.
Falling like a shooting star in the night sky, he had time to think. He had time to get scared, and annoyed as well. All that time and effort getting sand and glass for the Midnight Alley gone because he wasn’t careful.
The ground was getting closer and closer until he passed through it and then through the hole in the bedrock. He glanced up, searching for someone nearby, Mumbo or Scar perhaps, or maybe Impulse, anyone really.
As the void enveloped him, he curled up on himself, shivering from the cold empty space. Some of the shulker boxes he was holding fell out of his arms, he didn’t care though, the rest will join them once he dies.

The air was slowly leaving Grian’s lungs, he coughed, suffocating as he was falling endlessly. Right before he closed his eyes, he looked up and saw nothing, far too deep into the void to be able to see where he entered it.
