Second Chances: Legends

Summary:

Part 6 of rewritten second chances. My name is Sara Lance. After spending years working to protect the timeline, I find myself back at the beginning of my story in a new reality with a chance to change things for the better. I've gone been many names and been many things in my different lives, but one thing is the same. I am the White Canary and I am a Legend.

Notes:

Before I start the chapter, here is a link to a petition to bring back Legends for a proper ending: https://chng.it/DjYsQNP8yW. Not sure if you'll be able to see it on Fanfiction, but you should see it on Wattpad and A03. I highly recommend that if you haven't already signed the petition, please do, since honestly, the ending of season 7 was rushed and the series never got a proper ending and I doubt there will be enough time in the Flash to close off those loose ends. It's better to give Legends its own last season. Please sign the petition.

Chapter 1: Arc One: Misfits and Outcasts

Summary:

Sara Lance wakes up to some interesting new revelations about the world she helped create and has a very welcomed reunion, which leads to her making a very important life decision.

Chapter Text

The last thing Sara Lance remembered before the world went dark was being down on her knees at the dawn of time next to Barry, weeping over the dead body of her oldest friend, Oliver Queen, who'd just given his life to recreate the universe and he'd just said his last words to her, that he was at peace, a word she honestly never thought she'd ever associate with her oldest friend, but that honestly did describe him. Still, that didn't stop her from mourning him, since he had been the last link she'd had to her old life. The life she'd had before she went on the Queen's Gambit. Then the world went dark and the next thing she knew, Sara was waking up back in her bed in the room she shared with Ava back on the Waverider, though how that was possible she didn't have the faintest idea and honestly, she didn't really care.

Considering everything else she'd seen since the Gambit had gone down, she'd simply stopped questioning certain things. However, she was curious about how her ship even still existed, since she'd thought that it would've been destroyed with everything else in the universe, since as far as she knew, the ship had still been parked in DC when she and Ray had been abducted to help against the Crisis.

But that did not mean that she wasn't happy about it, since honestly, this old bucket of bolts had always been the one place that truly felt like home to her since the Gambit went down.

However, the happiness she felt about being back on the ship was nothing compared to the pure joy she felt when she heard the door open and a voice she never thought she'd hear again call her name.

"Sara." Sara turned to see Ava Sharpe standing in the doorway, shock clear on her face as they rushed up to each other, meeting in the middle and their lips joining together as they both released about a month's worth of worry and tension into their kiss, only breaking apart when the desire for air became a necessity as they pulled away, both of them breathing heavily as they pressed their foreheads together and just enjoyed the sensation of being reunited.

"I missed you so much." Ava said as tears fell down her cheeks and Sara felt an impulse she never thought she'd feel in her entire life.

"Marry me." Sara said before she could stop herself.

"Wait, what?" Ava asked, thinking she'd misheard Sara, but she was desperately hoping she hadn't.

"Ava, I may not know what the hell happened or what's going on now, but one thing I do know is that the past month has been the hardest of my life, because it's a month where I knew you were dead. And everything I did since then was get back here, back to you. And I know that I don't ever want to be without you again. So Ava Sharpe, will you marry me?" Sara asked her, making it clear that she meant every word of what she just said.

"Yes, yes I will marry you." Ava said immediately once she confirmed that she'd heard Sara correctly.

Sara smiled as she kissed Ava again, but after that, she finally calmed down enough to finally be able to ask the questions that had been in the back of her mind.

"How, how are you here?" Sara asked.

"It's complicated, but I didn't actually die during the antimatter wave attack." Ava said, surprising Sara.

"What?" Sara asked.

"As soon as Gideon detected the Antimatter wave heading our way, she calculated the only chance we had to survive was to attempt a jump into the temporal zone, since as a place that technically exists outside of regular spacetime, so the antimatter wave couldn't reach us. Unfortunately, while we made it into the zone, Gideon then reported that we were trapped inside it, simply because there was no place for us to jump to." Ava said.

"Yeah, the entire universe was wiped out." Sara said.

"How did you survive?" Ava asked her now fiance.

"Because right before the attack, I, along with Barry, Kara and several others were sent to the ruined remains of the vanishing point, since it's also a place outside of space and time and as such, safe from the attack. Then, after spending about a month there, we managed to find a way to travel back to the big bang at the dawn of time, thanks to the ghost of Oliver to restart the universe." Sara said.

"Wait, Oliver's dead?" Ava asked as Sara nodded and choked back a sob.

"He died to bring back the universe." Sara said sadly.

"But I thought you of all people would know that even death can be temporary." Mar Novu said as he appeared on the ship.

"You son of a bitch." Sara said angrily and Novu sighed, since he was getting tired of people greeting him like that, but he knew he should get used to it.

"Relax Ms. Lance. I am only here to provide you with additional answers to your questions, like where the rest of your crew is." Novu explained and Sara slightly calmed down before she realized what Novu had said before he appeared.

"Wait, when you said that death was only temporary, did you mean?" Sara asked, not daring to hope, but the smile on Novu's face confirmed it.

"Yes, Oliver Queen is alive and well. It appears that his work is not yet done in the land of the living." Novu said and Sara felt much lighter as a huge weight of guilt and grief were lifted from her shoulders.

"I'm sorry, you said you could explain what happened to our crew, since literally five minutes before Gideon reported that Sara showed up in here, Nate, Behrad, Mick and Charlie all vanished in flashes of light and I know that Ray, Constantine and Nora were all on Earth when the wave hit." Ava said.

"Allow me to explain. They have taken the places of their counterparts in this world, which is essentially what Ms. Lance will be doing once this ship leaves the temporal zone and before you ask Ms. Sharpe, the reason you did not vanish is because technically, you do not possess a counterpart in this reality due to your being a clone." Novu explained and Ava nodded, since that made sense.

"So, does that mean that they're wandering around this new world with no memories of it? Because if so, that will be very confusing." Sara said and Novu chuckled.

"Until I visit them, yes, since I will give those who retained their memories of the old reality the memories of this one, which is actually why I'm here, to do the same for you." Novu said and Sara nodded as Novu waved his hand and gave her the memories of her double, showing her that she had a life that was both very similar and very different to the one she'd led on the old Earth.

Chapter 2

Summary:

Sara discovers how different her life was in this reality.

Chapter Text

"Gideon, did the Monitor give you a similar headache that he gave me?" Sara asked the ship's AI as she booted up.

"Yes Captain Lance. I am now fully updated with information from the new timeline, including your new background story and I have to say, in this new reality, I hardly recognize you." Gideon said and Sara chuckled, since she'd gone through her new memories and she couldn't help but agree, since it felt like she was a completely different person in this reality.

"Tell me about it." Sara said.

"Wait, what? How different are we talking?" Ava asked, now curious by her now fiance's, she loved that Sara was now her fiance, reaction.

"In this reality, before she was an assassin, Captain Lance was studying to be a doctor." Gideon said as Ava's jaw dropped at that.

"Gideon, why don't you regale us with my new life story, since honestly, I have the memories of it and I still can't believe it." Sara said, since she was still having a hard time believing that there was a version of her that had ever been so straight.

"Right away Captain. It would appear that your timeline is fairly the same, though I will note that you did not have any criminal escapades and you were not on the Queen's Gambit when it went down." Gideon said.

"So Laurel won't be pissed at me, since I'm assuming that she's still alive in this reality." Sara said hopefully, since while she was happy that Oliver was still alive, but she wanted to see just how far this would go.

"Indeed, and so is your father." Gideon said and Sara grinned.

"Then it looks like Laurel won't hate me when I show up, since I never slept with her boyfriend in this reality, though that didn't stop me from still having the same terrible five years I lived through while Ollie was on Lian Yu." Sara said.

"What does that mean?" Ava asked.

"It would appear that just like how Mr. Queen's five years away after the Queen's Gambit went down was a fixed point in time, it appears that so is Captain Lance's journey to becoming a Legend, meaning that those moments could not be changed, time simply found a new way for them to happen." Gideon said.

"What happened?" Ava asked.

"In this reality, I was spending a semester abroad in Europe when the Gambit went down, studying for med school when I was abducted by that asshole Anthony Ivo, since he felt that someone of my experience would be useful to him. After that, everything else is pretty much the same. Right Gideon?" Sara asked and Gideon nodded.

"Indeed. After she was abducted, Captain Lance still meets up with Oliver Queen on Lian Yu and fights Slade Wilson before being saved and recruited by the League of Assassins." Gideon said.

"Which is where the last change in reality occurred. The last new memory I have is of Ra's al Ghul releasing me from the League after seeing how conflicted and divided I was between my ability to kill and my desire to show mercy. It's the same reason he released me from the league in 1960. The League has no place for someone so divided. Plus, I'm pretty sure he only accepted me into the League as a way to test Nyssa, to see if she was strong enough to let me go. And knowing her, she likely failed that test. But that's something I'll worry about after we wake Rip up and take the ship to the present, since we both know that it will be taking the place of its counterpart on the new world once we get out of the Temporal Zone and who knows when and where that will be in the timeline." Sara said.

"I have actually completed my calculations on that and I think you'll both be happy to hear that we'll be landing in Liberty Colorado 1896." Gideon said and Sara grinned.

"Good, because I could use some old western alcohol and maybe a good old fashioned bar fight before I beat Rip up before I lock him up in his own brig. Speaking of which Gideon, I want to reset your override code, since that's something we clearly should've done the last time we tried to hold him prisoner." Sara said.

"I will walk you through the process as we make the jump." Gideon said.

"Good. And in the meantime, start fabricating some western wear." Sara said.

"I already have Captain." Gideon said as Sara and Ava took their seats in the cockpit and Sara hit the thrusters so they could return to the real world and reassemble their team.

Chapter 3

Summary:

Sara puts her plan into action.

Chapter Text

Ava couldn't help but roll her eyes as she watched her fiance down yet another shot glass of whiskey in the local saloon in Liberty Colorado, 1896, since that was where the ship had merged with its counterpart in this new reality and instead of going looking for Rip like she thought they would, Sara had instead insisted on going to the nearest saloon and getting as drunk as possible.

"Babe, you might want to take it easy. I know it's been awhile for you, but seriously, I think even you have your limits on how much alcohol you can take before even you can't fight correctly or it even kills you." Ava said, since it looked like Sara was trying to outdrink Rory.

"Actually Ava, this is all a part of the plan." Sara said as she downed another shot.

"What are you talking about?" Ava asked as she finally accepted a drink herself, since honestly, she had to admit, she could use a drink herself.

"Hey, we can't look the part all we want, but we don't necessarily blend in here. All we need to do is draw attention to ourselves and that dick of a Time Master will come running." Sara said with a chuckle, right as some douchebag cowboy approached them.

"Hey there ladies. I notice you've both been drinking alone and thought that maybe you wouldn't mind a little company." the guy said, clearly drunk.

"Don't even think about it." Sara said, since while she was drunk, she knew she could still kick this guy's ass.

"Oh come on, you look like you could use a good time. Especially you." the guy said as placed his hand on Ava's shoulder and before Sara could do anything, Ava quickly knocked the guy on his ass.

"I believe she said we're fine. Now back off before you do something stupid. Well, stupider than touching a lady who doesn't want to be touched." Ava said, but as expected, the guy got back up and now he looked pissed.

"Who said I was taking no for an answer." the guy said as he reached for Sara, since he'd seen that she'd drank a lot more than the other woman, so he figured she'd be easier to take for himself.

But boy was he surprised when instead of finding her to be easy pickings for him, he heard a loud bang and suddenly he felt a bullet enter his chest and he saw that Sara had her revolver out and the gun was smoking, clearly having been fired.

"We said hands off bastard." Sara said quickly as she looked around to see that all activity in the bar had stopped and everyone was now looking at them.

"Sara, what did you do?" Ava asked her.

"Relax, all a part of my plan, since how else are we going to get Rip's attention if we just sit around drinking. That alone won't be enough to get his attention, but I think that a bar fight will. Especially since I can tell this creep was a part of some gang, so maybe before we leave, we can also free the town from whatever douchebag took it over." Sara said, making it clear that this was always her plan and Ava couldn't help but chuckle.

"You know Mick's gonna be pissed about this." Ava said.

"Who says this will be our only trip to the old west. I'm thinking about having my bachelorette in Salvation." Sara said and Ava chuckled as the bar fight began.

Chapter 4

Summary:

Sara and Ava finally find who they're looking for.

Chapter Text

"Well, that was fun." Sara said as she and Ava finished off the last of their attackers, thoroughly trashing the saloon in the process.

"And this took way longer than it should have." Ava said, looking at her fiance.

"Hey, excuse me if I wanted to savor the first bit of fun I've had in the past month." Sara said.

"And you're way too drunk to fight at regular speed." Ava said.

"I thought that was obvious." Sara said, not at all sorry about the amount of liquor she'd drank, though she had a feeling that she'd be regretting it tomorrow when her buzz wore off, but it would be worth it.

"Seriously Sara, it's like you're trying to get caught." Ava said.

"It's like you're forgetting the plan. Speaking of which, I'm surprised that we haven't been approached by a certain fake cowboy yet." Sara said.

"Maybe he knew this was a trap, since we were kind of obvious." Ava said as Sara put on her comm.

"Gideon, any sign of Rip on your end?" Sara asked.

"No Captain, but then again, that's not surprising due to the fact that surveillance technology doesn't exist in this century." Gideon reminded her.

"Fair point. But do you have anything?" Sara asked, right as she felt a hand on her shoulder and she whirled around to see the very person she was looking for standing in front of her.

"I'm assuming it's me you're looking for." Rip Hunter said.

"Yep and now that I've found you." Sara said as she proceeded to knock Rip out.

"I wanted to do that." Ava complained.

"You'll get your chance. Come on, let's get him back to the ship so Gideon can keep him sedated until we can find someone to restore his memories. And by someone, I mean J'onn J'onzz." Sara said.

"That won't be necessary." Gideon said.

"What do you mean?" Sara asked.

"I mean that when Mar Novu gave my systems an upgrade, it wasn't just my memory core he upgraded. He also upgraded the ship's cognitive intrusion tech with memory restoration capabilities, meaning that I can restore Captain Hunter's memories back on the ship." Gideon said.

"Perfect. Let's get out of here and Gideon, get a hangover cure prepared for me, since I'm gonna need it tomorrow." Sara said.

"Right away Captain." Gideon said as Sara got off the comms.

"Okay then, let's get back to the ship before the time bastards realize that we're no longer following their script." Sara said, since she couldn't explain it, but for some reason, she felt like she was now immune to the oculus's ability to control her.

"Yeah, let's go." Ava said, honestly relieved that Gideon could restore Rip's memories.

After they got Rip set up in the med bay, Sara got the cognitive intrusion device set up.

"Gideon, can you walk me through setting this up?" Sara asked, since even though she was technically a doctor in this reality, tech wasn't her specialty.

"Of course Captain." Gideon said and Sara smiled.

"What are you smiling about?" Ava asked Sara.

"Just about the fact that having used this machine myself once, I know this is gonna hurt and he deserves it." Sara said as she placed the spike into the back of Rip's neck to establish the link.

"Sara, I know he was a jerk who deserved the punch, but now?" Ava asked.

"Are you forgetting that while he was the Legion of Doom's boy toy, he killed me during the American Revolution?" Sara asked.

"Fair point. Proceed." Ava said, since even though she knew that Rip hadn't been responsible for her actions back then, that didn't stop her from being annoyed at him, especially since the guilty party was beyond her ability to kill.

"Okay Gideon, are we set?" Sara asked.

"Yes, shall I begin the memory restoration process?" Gideon asked.

"Do it and wake Rip up when you're done, but can we jump now, it's only a matter of time until the time masters find us." Sara said.

"Beginning the process now, but you don't need to worry about the time masters, because my memory systems were not the only things upgraded. The ship's cloaking technology was also upgraded to the point of cloaking us from the Time Masters, even if they use the Oculus, which is good, since we can't risk jumping until the process is complete." Gideon said as they watched Rip begin to twitch as the memory dump began as they watched him begin to remember the truth about everything, including who they were and the truth about his bosses.

When the process completed, Rip's eyes shot open as he took in his surroundings.

"Sara, Ava, it's good to see you both." Rip said with a smile, which both women returned.

"You too Rip." Sara said, honestly happy to see her old friend again.

Chapter 5

Summary:

Sara, Ava and Rip begin to make a plan.

Chapter Text

"So, it sounds like you no longer fit the criteria that the original Legends when I recruited you." Rip said after he'd been filled in on everything that had happened since his death.

"Considering the fact that I'm the paragon of destiny, I'd say I'm now one of the most important people in history, since if it weren't for me and the other paragons, none of us would be standing here right now." Sara said and both Rip and Ava rolled their eyes at her attitude.

"Anyways, I'm assuming you have a plan?" Rip asked and Sara nodded.

"Yeah and it starts by accomplishing the mission you originally created the team for. Since I have a feeling that we're no longer following the time master's script." Sara said.

"That would be correct, Captain. Somehow, the restoration process also makes those who receive it immune to the Oculus's ability to control time. However, I do not believe that extracting Miranda and Jonas from the timeline at this very moment is the wisest move." Gideon said.

"Neither do I since, right now, the Time Masters haven't put a kill order out on them yet. Removing them from the timeline now would just paint an even bigger target on their backs then there already is. However, while you two round up the rest of the Legends, I'm going to head back to the Vanishing Point." Rip said.

"Why?" Ava asked.

"Because a majority of the Time Captains like Captain Baxter were innocent. They were just as in the dark about the Oculus and time masters as we were. No need to wipe them out. Especially since the time masters were always more effective at dealing with timeline threats than the time bureau was. No offense Ava." Rip said.

"Yeah, I have to take Rip's side on that one. The Time Masters certainly weren't as stingy about rules as long as they got the job done, not to mention the fact that they didn't have a crappy pantsuit requirement. Again, no offense." Sara said to her fiance.

"None taken, you're right. Trust me, as soon as you helped me develop a personality beyond what Rip programmed me with, I was wondering how I could get rid of the uniform requirement, but since it was a government organization, it was kind of necessary." Ava said.

"Just another reason why you're different from all the other Ava clones. Since they never interacted with the Legends, they were never given the opportunity to develop their own personalities beyond the factory defaults. Though I can assure you that I won't be creating any more of them." Rip promised.

"Good. Because I don't care how many clones there are in 2213, Ava is one of a kind and if you even think about getting another clone of her again, I will kill you." Sara said and Rip had no doubt that she meant it and he understood why.

"Trust me Sara, I have no plans on it, and not just because I know that you're serious about killing me. It's because part of what made Ava so productive and so genuine is that she was able to form a real connection with someone, which helped you become more human than the others." Rip said.

"Sara gave me a reason to think that maybe the rules aren't always right." Ava said as she kissed Sara's cheek.

"Anyways, I'm going to the Vanishing Point so that I can try and find proof of the time council's hypocrisy so that I can turn the rest of the time masters against them. Essentially start a rebellion." Rip said.

"Or a civil war. I like it. We'll round up the rest of the Legends and then meet up with you. If you do manage to turn the other captains to our side, don't stick around at the Vanishing Point, you'll lose. We need to coordinate an actual strategy to take them down. Have them scatter across the temporal fragmentations to keep the time masters off your trail, but plan to rendezvous with us in Salvation. We're going to head there after we finish recruitment." Sara said and Rip nodded.

"And by the way, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials." Rip said, since he'd figured out that Sara and Ava were engaged, even though neither of them were wearing a ring yet, he wanted to congratulate them.

"One of the only reasons why I didn't punch you harder is that if it weren't for you, we never would've met, since Ava would still be a mindless clone and I'd still be a vigilante consumed by a bloodlust." Sara said.

"I agree. The only good thing you've done for us is that you brought us together. Even if we hated each other when we first met." Ava said, since she knew she was a hardass back then and it wasn't until she began spending more time around the Legends that she began to loosen up and become an actual human beyond her job.

"I appreciate that. But anyways, I'm going to take the jumpship, I'll see you in Salvation." Rip said as he headed out.

"Let's start recruiting." Sara said and Ava nodded in agreement.

Chapter Text

"Gideon, before we start recruiting, there's something I need to know and I think you already know what it is." Sara said, since she needed to know her family's future, since if there was even a chance that she could lose them again, well, then she didn't give a damn about history, she was going to save her family. Even if she had to destroy the entire timeline to do it.

"According to my scans of the timeline, both your father and you sister live long, fulfilling lives, especially since now Mr. Queen knows how to keep them from dying." Gideon said and Sara sighed in relief, since she didn't need to know their whole life stories, since she believed that some things were better left as surprises, she just needed to know that her family would be safe.

"Let me know if anything happens in any way that jeopardizes that. I finally got my sister back, I want to know if and when anything happens that causes her to die before her natural time." Sara said.

"Of course Captain Lance. In the meantime, I have determined locations for most of the other Legends." Gideon said.

"Dr. Palmer and Ms. Darhk currently live in Ivy Town, Dr. Heywood is currently in Keystone City, Mr. Rory, along with Mr. Snart, is currently locked up in Iron Heights prison in Central City." Gideon said.

"No surprise there and we're definitely recruiting both Snart and Mick this time around." Sara said as she looked over at Ava, who'd joined them.

"What, you think I have a problem with you bringing your former crush onto the ship? From what you told me, you and Snart only flirted and you didn't kiss until right before he died. I have no problems with him, beyond maybe telling him not to waste his time trying to make a move on you. Just like how I have no problem with you being friends with Oliver Queen, mainly because I know that's a dealbreaker, but at least he's not on the ship all the time. Now if you were inviting Nyssa al Ghul onto the ship." Ava said and Sara could tell she was messing with her now.

"Very funny. But Nyssa has no place on a timeship, so you don't need to worry about that. Anyways Gideon, what about the others?" Sara asked.

"Jax is currently in Anchorage Alaska, where he's been living with Professor Stein's family and both Behrad and Zari Tarazi, since we all remember her time with the Legends now thanks to the Monitor, are currently in Seattle, 2042." Gideon said.

"What about Constantine and Charlie?" Ava asked.

"I'm uncertain if you truly want to bring Mr. Constantine back into the fold, since I believe that Ms. Darhk would fill his role quite well. As for Charlie, for whatever reason, I cannot seem to locate her at this point in time." Gideon said.

"That makes sense, we haven't released Malice from his cage yet, which means Charlie's still stuck in it. Which reminds me, once we get the Time Master thing handled, we should start looking for a way to spring her, along with most of the other creatures in that prison, since the only ones that deserve to be in there are Malice, Neron, Tabitha, the dragon Constantine killed and unicorn. The others are relatively harmless." Sara said and Ava nodded in agreement.

"So, which of the kids are we going to round up first?" Ava asked.

"Ray and Nora and I think you know why." Sara said.

"You want to know if Nora has any idea on where her father is." Ava said.

"Right now he's gone so far underground even Gideon can't find him right now, but I'm hoping that Nora has some information, since while I know that Oliver can more than handle him if he has too, but honestly, I'd rather kill him myself." Sara said.

"You know you need to be careful about that. If you kill Darhk at the wrong time." Ava said.

"I know. That's why I'm limiting the search to the 21st century. It's the only time period where killing Darhk a little early won't do too much damage to history, since by that point, it was really just setting up the final pieces, like building the Ark. Aside from that, killing him won't actually affect much." Sara said.

"And you really think Nora will help you kill her father?" Ava asked.

"I don't know, but we have to try. Even if she doesn't know where her father is, at least this way we can keep her safe from him, since it sounds like in this reality, she's already all grown up." Sara said.

"That is correct Captain. Shall I set a course for Ivy Town?" Gideon asked.

"Yep. Let's get going." Sara said as she and Ava strapped in.

Chapter 7

Summary:

Sara and Ava learn of Ray and Nora's past in this new world.

Chapter Text

When Sara and Ava arrived at the address Gideon gave them for Ray and Nora's apartment, they were surprised to find Ray and Nora sitting in front of the TV, but it looked like their bags were already packed.

"Okay, what's going on here?" Sara asked as Ray noticed her.

"Sara, what took you so long and before you ask, J'onn visited both of us a couple of days ago, so we had time to get things in order here. Including finding someone else to take over Palmer tech and sell this apartment." Ray said and Sara rolled her eyes.

"I should've guessed. Well, at least you're both already to go, it makes our lives a lot easier, but Ray, please tell me you built your suit already, otherwise moving your stuff to the ship will take hours." Sara said, look at all the bags.

"Actually, since a lot of this is my gear, I'll be storing it in my own magical pocket dimension." Nora said.

"Wait, what?" Ava asked.

"Wait, did Gideon not give you guys the rundown on our lives?" Ray asked.

"Her link to the Oculus was severed to avoid the Time Masters tracking us since we're no longer under they're control, so she didn't know." Sara explained.

"Makes sense, but anyways, in this reality, Nora is a real world Winchester." Ray said.

"Wait, what?" Ava asked.

"In this reality, instead of being raised as a faithful member of my dad's stupid plans, I saw the light earlier and jumped ship the first chance I got." Nora said.

"So you have no clue where your father is now?" Sara asked.

"No and believe me Sara, if I knew, I'd tell you, since I have just as much of an interest in finding him that you do, though maybe not for the same reasons." Nora said.

"Why?" Sara asked.

"Because after I ran away from my parents, I wound up in the care of Natalie Logue." Nora said.

"That name sounds vaguely familiar." Ava said.

"She was John Constantine's ex and she's also the mother of the girl John damned to hell." Nora said.

"Right. Astra." Sara said.

"Anyways, this was before Astra was born, Natalie took me in because I had inherited magic from my dad, so she taught me how to control it and eventually, I decided to be the opposite of my dad, using my magic for good and I eventually took after Constantine, only I prefer to use light magic over dark and yes, it's a bit ironic considering my last name, but I didn't want to be a monster like my dad. But I did commit to trying to bring my father down so that I could either appeal to the good in him, since no matter how much you hate him Sara, you can't deny that deep down, there is a little bit of good in him." Nora said.

"I'll never believe there's good in your father. He killed my sister and crippled one of my closest friends. He wiped out an entire city. He's a monster and if I'm ever in the same room as him, I don't care if you're there, I don't care if you hate me for it, I am going to kill him. As long as Oliver doesn't beat me to it." Sara said and Nora could tell that she'd never be able to talk Sara out of killing her father, not that she could blame her.

"And that's the other reason I've been hunting him, so that if I couldn't get through to him, I could at least be the one to kill him with the very power he gave me. I spent years traveling the world, hunting down every single demon, monster and Hive Agent who might know where my dad is. That's what brought me to Ivy Town and that's where everything changed." Nora said.

"Because you met Ray." Ava said, since that honestly sounded a bit like her and Sara.

"Yeah, when I met Ray, I was planning on leaving all this behind. Magic, hunting, my dad all of it. But then the demon I'd been hunting here found me and you'll never guess who it was." Nora said.

"Why?" Sara asked.

"It was Neron. Somehow my dad managed to spring him from that cage without letting all those other creatures loose and made a deal with him. In exchange for tracking me down and helping him with his plans, Neron would get all the souls that were claimed in Genesis and I think we know why he'd want that. All the fear Genesis would create." Nora said.

"He wants to use Genesis as his play for the throne of hell." Sara said.

"Yep. Only perk of that deal is that it means that Neron can't kill me without breaking it, and we all know what happens when demons break their deals." Nora said.

"So, I'm assuming Neron is how Ray got pulled back into this?" Ava asked and Ray looked down.

"Yeah and once again, I screwed things up for Nora, but luckily, Neron didn't make me his host again." Ray said.

"What happened?" Sara asked as Nora took a deep breath.

"Neron realized that as long as Ray was in my life, I ran the risk of never returning to my dad's side, so he decided to remove the problem by killing Ray and revealing my past in the process. But since Ray's still here and I know Sara is an avid Supernatural fan, I'm sure you can guess what I did." Nora said.

"You sold your soul to Neron?" Sara asked.

"Yeah I did. My powers were rusty after going so long not using them, so I couldn't bring Ray back myself, so instead, I trapped Neron and made a deal with him. In exchange for Neron bringing Ray back and promising not to kill him again, Neron would get my soul when I die a natural death, which also gives him power over my father." Nora said.

"Nora." Sara said, though honestly, she would've done the exact same thing for Ava in that position.

"I don't regret what I did. Besides, it was thanks to that demon that I was finally able to open with Ray about who I really was and after that, he decided he'd help me get my soul back and take down Neron and my dad, so yes, he does have his suit." Nora said.

"Gideon told us you guys are married too?" Ava asked.

"Yeah, I hope that won't be a problem." Ray said.

"Of course not, especially since Ava and I are going to be joining you soon, even though we don't have rings yet." Sara said.

"Wait, what?" Ray asked, thinking he'd misheard.

"Yeah, I woke up on the Waverider in this reality where Ava was waiting for me and the first thing I did was propose to her." Sara said.

"Wait, you, Captain Sara Lance, the White Canary, actually proposed?" Ray asked.

"I know. The old me never would've even considered the possibility of marriage, but the old me never met Ava Sharpe." Sara said as she kissed Ava's cheek.

"Well in that case, congratulations and I'd like to be the one to perform the ceremony." Ray said.

"Done. And Nora, I promise, since we're going to be stopping Neron anyways, we will do everything we can to get your soul back." Sara promised and Nora smiled.

"Thanks. But anyways, lets get everything onto the ship so we can round up the rest of the Legends? Is Rip waiting for us, since I'm assuming he already knows?" Ray asked.

"While Rip does know about the old world, he's not on the ship. He's at the Vanishing Point, running recon and trying to convince the other time masters to rebel against the council of bastards." Sara explained and Ray nodded.

"Let's get going, since we still have a lot of stops to make." Ava said and they all nodded as they started getting bags together.

Chapter 8

Summary:

The Legends pick up their next recruit.

Chapter Text

"It is good to be back on the ship." Ray said as he and Nora, along with Ava and Sara, walked onto the Waverider.

"I have to admit, I did kind of miss this place, though I will miss the freedom and privacy that having our own place gave us." Nora said.

"Yeah, trust me, I know the feeling." Ava said, since before the Time Bureau had been shut down, she'd had her own apartment before she'd been forced to move onto the Waverider.

"Considering that Ray and I have been on this ship longer than either of you, we're aware that the space thing isn't exactly ideal and we're working on a better solution to that, but in the meantime, let's focus on getting the rest of the Legends back together." Sara said.

"Right. I'd recommend recruiting Nate next." Ray said.

"Why?" Sara asked, since she could tell that this was about more than just Ray wanting his time bro back.

"Because I'll need his help to rebuild our time seismograph, since we can't rely on any data from the vanishing point, mainly because Gideon severed her link to the Oculus, so we need another way of tracking down aberrations. Not to mention, once the time seismograph is set up, we can augment it to detect magical threats, which we can then use to try and track Neron and get Nora's soul back." Ray said and Sara nodded, since that did make sense.

"Gideon, let's go find Nate. Where is he?" Sara asked, knowing that Nate would already be waiting for them, since according to Novu, everyone who'd been on the Waverider when it had escaped Crisis by jumping into the temporal zone would remember the old reality, which included Nate.

"Searching. According to all databases I have access to right now, Dr Heywood works as a historian and history professor at Keystone University." Gideon said.

"Nate in academia. He must hate that." Sara said and Ray nodded.

"Does he still have his powers?" Ray asked.

"Yes, thanks to an experimental treatment developed by scientists working under Joseph Carver. It cured his hemophilia and also gave him his powers." Gideon said.

"Perfect and since Novu should have restored his memories by now, he'll be waiting for us and it sounds like he'll be more than willing to get back on the ship. Once we get him back, Ray, I want you two to get to work on our time seismograph, since until we take down the time masters, that will be our only source of timeline data." Sara said and Ray nodded.

"I'll get started on the plans now." Ray said and Sara nodded.

"Anyways, Gideon, set a course for Keystone and hone in on Nate's address. I'll do the recruiting, Ray, you start setting up your lab and Nora, if you want to,  you can find a room to use as your magic room." Sara said.

"Thanks, but that's what my pocket dimension is for and luckily, I'm not Constantine, since I heard a rumor that his pocket dimension is located in Hell." Nora said.

"Do we want to know where yours is?" Sara asked.

"It's located in a magical dimension called the void. It's located at the epicenter of all the magical dimensions, heaven, hell, purgatory, literally any of them and at times I can use it as a backdoor into those realms. Don't ask, it's very complicated magic that I was only able to pull off due to my bloodline and some seriously powerful magic, like the kind that can only be used once and it nearly killed me." Nora said.

"You'll have to show it to us some time. But for now, let's focus on the recruitment drive. Once the Legends are fully assembled, then we go help Rip at the Vanishing Point." Sara said as they arrived in Keystone.

Nate Heywood honestly wanted to shoot himself. That was how bored he was with his gig as a stupid history professor at Keystone University, especially since he knew that he was supposed to be a time traveling superhero, but so far there hadn't been any sign of Sara coming to pick him up.

Anyways, he'd just finished teaching a graduate course for the day and was packing up his stuff in his office for the day.

"Wow, you traded being a legend for all this? I'm impressed." a familiar voice asked from the doorway and Nate smiled when he turned around to see Sara Lance standing there.

"Hey, it's not my fault my counterpart from this world picked such a sad career." Nate said.

"Well, pack your things, we're getting the band back together and we need our historian." Sara said.

"Gladly. Luckily I printed up my letter of resignation as soon as I woke up in this reality." Nate said.

"Good. Now start packing. I want you back on the ship by tonight. I'll send Ray to help you if you need it." Sara said.

"Thanks, but luckily, my apartment is all packed up and as you can see, I'm in the process of doing that with my office too." Nate said, since there were boxes everywhere.

"I'll tell Ray to bring his shrink ray to help with moving." Sara said and Nate nodded.

Chapter 9

Summary:

The Legends get into a discussion about their remaining recruits.

Chapter Text

"So, who's the next person on our recruitment list?" Nate asked.

"Honestly, I'm thinking Jax." Sara said.

"Really?" Ray asked.

"Yeah, I want to check in on both him and Professor Stein and I also want to recruit all our teammates that are in this time period before we start making time jumps." Sara said.

"So Zari's last then." Nate said, a bit disappointed.

"Sorry Nate, but that's just the way it has to be, since her and Behrad are literally on the way to the Vanishing Point from here. It just makes more sense. Besides, I want as much firepower as we can get and it doesn't get much more firepower than Firestorm." Sara said.

"But we can't have Firestorm without both Jax and Stein and I'd think that after what happened, we'd want to keep the Professor away from this life." Ray said.

"Not necessarily. Gideon, pull up all relevant data to this conversation." Sara said.

"Right away captain." Gideon said as she began projecting files for them all to see.

"According to Gideon, in this reality, Jax was orphaned when he was a kid, bounced around the system for a while before he was adopted by Professor Stein and his wife and grew up being an actual brother to Lily, who is not an aberration in this reality." Sara said.

"Though apparently now he and the Steins live in Anchorage Alaska." Ray said.

"Yeah, that's not normal. Let's find out what's going on there." Ray said.

"Gideon, do you have any more details that might help us put the pieces together?" Ava asked.

"Actually yes, it appears that Professor Stein moved his entire family to Alaska about a month after the particle accelerator exploded." Gideon said.

"Meaning that he's trying to keep Firestorm from the military, since he did tell us about how General Eiling tried to force him and Ronnie to be one of his super soldiers. I'm betting he took his family off the grid to keep Eiling from finding out about Firestorm." Sara said.

"We need to do something about him. A lot of scientific advancements have had to be kept secret to keep him from exploiting them for the military." Ray said.

"Which is why while we're in this time, I'm going to talk to Lyla, since I'm sure J'onn restored her memories and see if she'll open some kind of investigation into Eiling and get him locked up." Sara said.

"First things first, let's get Jax back on the ship. Then we'll focus on this general." Ava said and Sara nodded.

"Gideon, set a course for Anchorage Alaska." Sara said.

"Right away Captain." Gideon said as the ship headed that.

"In the meantime, we need a way to restore our teammate's memories that J'onn might not have thought of, since now that I think about it, there's no guarantee that he would've known to restore the memories of teammates he hasn't met yet or teammates that are still only children or haven't even been born yet." Sara said.

"Actually, I think I might have something to help with that." Ray said.

"What?" Ava asked as Ray left the bridge only to return a few minutes later with something in his hand,

"Yeah, even before J'onn restored my memories, I think a certain space god decided to do some meddling, since for about a week before I remembered the old world, I started building this." Ray said as he revealed a gun that was familiar to Nate and Sara.

"Is that the memory gun you built in Doomworld?" Nate asked and Ray nodded.

"Doomworld?" Ava asked, since she hadn't been there when it had happened.

"It's what we call the alternate reality Thawne, Merlyn, Darhk, Snart and Rory created with the spear of destiny." Sara said.

"Right, tell me again why Mick joined the dark side or why we're recruiting a traitor?" Ava asked.

"Because the time period Snart was recruited from was back when he first got the cold gun, before he struck his deal with Barry and grew a conscience. And Mick, well, he was still having trouble believing he was a part of the team considering how we treated him and Snart was able to manipulate him." Sara explained.

"Right. Sorry, I just, I've come to terms with Mick, since honestly, I know he's a loyal friend, but it's Snart I have reservations about." Ava said.

"That's funny, when Rip first recruited us, it was the other way around." Ray said and Sara chuckled.

"I get the feeling that this has more to do with the fact that Snart is kind of my ex than the fact that he was a traitor." Sara said.

"Can we even describe what you two were doing as dating? I mean, you only kissed him once and that was literally right before he died." Ray said.

"True, but still, I don't want him to get any ideas after we restore his memories." Ava said.

"That's what blackmail is for. Mick keeps Snart's eyes off me and we don't tell Snart about Rebecca Silver." Sara said.

"Oh come on, Snart would find that hilarious." Ray said.

"Yes and then he'd also punch Mick in the face for going soft on him." Sara said, though she did agree.

"So, anyways, you were saying before we got distracted?" Sara asked.

"Right, anyways, this gun should work the same way as J'onn's mental powers and restore people's memories of the old reality, just like it did in Doomworld." Ray said.

"Perfect, when we stop in Central City to pick up Snart and Rory from Iron Heights, since we all know that's where they are, I'm making a stop to get my suit from Cisco, you should give him the schematics for that thing." Sara said and Ray nodded.

"I could use his help with making some improvements to my suit." Ray said.

"And my costume." Nate said.

"Hey babe, everyone else is getting a costume." Sara said looking at her fiance.

"Yeah, no. Dressing up in leather is your thing, not mine and while you look good in it, I have no desire to put on a supersuit." Ava said.

"Okay." Sara said.

"Sara, I'm serious." Ava said.

"I promise, I won't make you go to Cisco for a supersuit." Sara said.

"Thank you." Ava said.

"Captain, we have arrived in Anchorage." Gideon said.

"Perfect. Let's get to work." Sara said as she took the memory gun from Ray and headed towards the cargo bay.

Chapter 10

Summary:

Sara reunites with both halves of Firestorm.

Chapter Text

When the Waverider arrived in Anchorage, Sara decided to track down Jax herself, since she wanted to talk to him alone. Which was why she was currently walking up to an out of the way auto shop.

"Some things never change. The kid always ends up slumming it in places like this until he hits the jackpot." Sara said under her breath as she saw Jax working under a car.

"Jefferson Jackson?" Sara asked as she approached him.

"Sorry, I think you've got me confused with someone else." Jax said as he rolled out from the car and Sara saw that the patch on his jumpsuit read James on it.

"Yeah, sure." Sara said as before Jax could do anything about it, she pulled out the memory gun and fired it right at his head.

"Damn Sara, was that headache really necessary?" Jax asked as he recovered from the memory dump.

"Sorry about that, but it's necessary so that you'll come with me." Sara said.

"Back with the Legends?" Jax asked.

"Don't act like you didn't miss us." Sara said with a grin, which Jax shared.

"True, but you know I can't leave without making sure Grey and the rest of my family are safe." Jax said.

"Next stop on my list, especially since I have a favor to ask of the professor and before we leave this time period, we are going to do something about Eiling so that he, Clarissa and Lily can come out of hiding." Sara said and Jax nodded, since he completely believed her.

"But first, are you really a solo firestorm?" Sara asked, since even though Gideon had told her that, she needed to hear it from Jax himself.

"Yeah, I am." Jax confirmed.

"No offense, but it's something I feel like I need to see to believe." Sara said.

"Then it will have to wait until we get back to the Stein house, since Grey said that it's not safe for me to use my powers when I'm not wearing my suit, since in this reality, Grey and Lily built the suit to allow me to harness the Firestorm matrix's powers safely, since it's still relatively unstable. The suit is designed to regulate it." Jax said.

"Well, I'm sure that with all the future science and tech we have on the ship, we can find a way to stabilize it permanently, though I'm assuming you haven't been able to do things like transmutation yet." Sara said.

"No. Though it's not from a lack of wanting too. Grey doesn't want me to push the matrix too far until he finds a way to fully stabilize the matrix, since otherwise, let's just say a lot of people including me will die." Jax said.

"And I agree with that." Sara said, not really surprised by what Jax was saying, since honestly, from what little she understood about the science regarding the firestorm matrix, it was amazing that a solo firestorm existed at all, since all of the attempts to transfer the matrix to Jax from Stein hadn't exactly gone well. But hopefully now they could correct that, since the matrix was already inside Jax's body as a solo Firestorm, they just needed to fully stabilize it so he could use his full potential without worrying about blowing himself up.

"Grey, I'm home." Jax said as he and Sara entered the Stein, or as they were known in Alaska, the Abrams, since they'd all changed their names when they'd left Central City to keep Eiling from finding out about Jax.

"Well, this isn't exactly what I was expecting." Sara said.

"You should see Grey's lab. It's like something out of Frankenstein. I'm honestly amazed he was able to build my suit with the limited supplies he could find." Jax said.

"Well, he was always brilliant. Sometimes too brilliant for his own good." Sara said, remembering how many times Stein's younger self had caused issues for the Legends during their various interactions, though really only one of those was his fault.

"Tell me about it. I do not miss being psychically connected to him." Jax said.

"Connected to who? James, who is this?" Stein asked as he entered the room to find his adoptive son standing with a strange blonde woman.

"It'll all make sense in a minute Professor." Sara said, but before Stein could question it, Sara shot him with the memory gun.

"The headache should go away in a few minutes, Grey." Jax said as he and Sara helped Stein get to his feet.

"I'm quite alright now Jefferson, especially now that I remember Captain Lance." Martin said with a smile as he and Sara hugged.

"It's good to see you again Professor and don't worry, we don't need you to join the crew since Jax is a solo firestorm and I don't want to separate you from the rest of your family again." Sara said and Stein smiled.

"I appreciate that Ms. Lance. Though I will admit that the Legends are my family too. And even before Lily came along, in many ways, you showed me what it was like to have a daughter, just like how Jefferson showed me what it was like to have a son." Stein said and Sara smiled at him, since she had honestly found Stein to be another father to her.

"Anyways, there's a reason I decided to restore your memories besides the fact that once a Legend, always a legend." Sara said, since this was something that she'd talked over with Ava, who'd agreed with her.

"What is it?" Stein asked.

"Well, you're about to hear me say words that both of you never thought you'd ever hear me say." Sara said.

"And those words would be?" Stein asked.

"I'm engaged." Sara said, shocking both of them.

"Congratulations." Jax said as he hugged her and then Stein followed.

"Thank you. The first thing I did after I woke up in this reality was propose to Ava, since if Crisis taught me anything, it's that life is way too short and I'd finally met someone who was worth settling down for." Sara said.

"Wow, I never thought I'd see the day that the infamous Sara Lance became a kept woman." Jax said teasingly.

"Wait, Ava, as in the Time Bureau Agent Sharpe who you seemed to want to kill every time you saw her?" Stein asked and Sara chuckled.

"What can I say, opposites attracted." Sara said with a look on her face that Jax and Stein never thought they'd see on her face. She was actually smitten.

"So, what was it you wanted to ask me?" Stein asked.

"Well, before the team leaves this time period, one of the things on our list is taking down Wade Eiling so you and your family can return to Central City, but more importantly, I remember how you told us how before Ronnie died you performed his and Caitlin's wedding and I was hoping that you'd give Ava and I the same treatment." Sara said and Stein's face broke out into a huge grin.

"I'd be honored." Stein said.

"Thank you. But anyways, we should get Jax's stuff before heading back to the ship." Sara said and Stein nodded.

"I'll start working on temporal communicators so we can keep in touch." Stein said.

"Good. Especially because I'm going to need you to deliver those to Star City, since both my sister and my father are still alive and I want to make sure I keep in touch with them." Sara said and Stein nodded in understanding.

Chapter 11

Summary:

Sara prepares for a long overdue reunion.

Chapter Text

"Damn, it is good to be back on the ship." Jax said as he and Sara reached the bridge of the ship.

"Jax." Ray said with a grin as they hugged.

"Hey Ray." Jax said with a grin as he clapped Ray on the back.

"Welcome back Mr. Jackson." Gideon said happily and Sara could've sworn that Gideon sounded a bit cheerier than usual when addressing Jax.

"Gideon. I trust that the other Legends took good care of you after I left." Jax asked.

"Aside from a minor error caused by Ms. Tomaz, they did." Gideon assured him and Sara couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at this and she could tell that she wasn't the only one picking up on this kind of vibe.

"So, this is weird right." Nate whispered to Ray, who nodded.

"Yeah, it's almost like they're flirting." Ray said and Sara chuckled when she heard that, though she didn't disagree.

"Okay, getting back on track, Gideon, set a course for Star City. I need to have a talk with Lyla about a certain army general who needs to be detained." Sara said.

"Right away Captain." Gideon said, quickly getting back to business.

"Yeah, Lyla's the only person you want to see in Star City." Nate said.

"It's called multitasking. I also need her to arrange a fake prisoner transport for Snart and Rory so that we can bring them into the fold, since I think they're the only legends left in this time period to recruit." Sara said and the other Legends nodded, knowing better than to confront her about that.

"Ray, is your lab set up?" Sara asked.

"Yes, why?" Ray asked.

"I want you to start running tests on Jax. I want the matrix in him fully stabilized by the time we reach the Vanishing Point, since we will be making our way there eventually, especially since Rip is currently there by himself." Sara said.

"Wait, what?" Jax asked.

"He's our man on the inside keeping an eye on the Time Masters and also trying to recruit more of the captains to our side, since from what he said, they're just as in the dark about what the Time Council is doing as we were." Sara said.

"So he's essentially trying to spark up a kind of civil war at the Vanishing Point." Ray said.

"Exactly. The more support we have, the easier it will be to take down the Time Masters without needing to blow up the Vanishing Point, since honestly, I think that could serve as a very nice home base for us, since while I love this ship, it was never meant to house so many people for so long. I think that taking over the Vanishing Point is a much better long term solution." Sara said and no one could argue with that.

"Anyways, did the Professor happen to give you any research he had on the Matrix that can help me, since now that Jax has the full matrix in him, I should be able to stabilize it, though that's really more his area of expertise than mine." Ray said, grateful that Jax was already a solo Firestorm, since that would make this much easier.

"Right here and I think that while I'm in Star City, maybe you guys should go to Central City, catch up with Team Flash and maybe Cisco and Caitlin can help stabilize the matrix in Jax." Sara said.

"Not a bad idea." Jax said.

"And maybe they can also give us some dirt to use on Eiling, since they've interacted with him more than any of us." Ray added and Sara nodded.

"Make it so." Sara said.

"Captain, we have arrived in Star City." Sara said.

"Great. I'm gonna talk to Lyla first then go find my sister, since it'll be easier to explain this to her than to my dad. Though I am eager to meet my new stepmom. That definitely shows my dad taking steps in the right direction in this reality." Sara said, since she was very happy that not only was her dad still alive, but he'd moved on and was living his life.

"So, when are you going to tell them about me?" Ava asked.

"I'll be telling Laurel about you right off the bat, since she knows I'm bi and she'll be thrilled that she gets to be my maid of honor, since even before she died, she didn't think that's a role she'd ever get to play and my dad, well, that will have to wait until after I come out to him. Luckily, he shouldn't have a problem with it." Sara said.

"What about Felicity? Isn't she your step sister now?" Ray asked and Sara chuckled.

"Yep and I have to note the irony that Ollie has a thing for the women in my family. First Laurel, then me, then Felicity. I just hope that he sticks with Laurel this time, since honestly, while I love Felicity, I always felt that Laurel was a better fit for him." Sara said.

"In the short time I knew them, I always did sense this will they/won't they vibes." Ray said and Sara chuckled.

"Yeah, the only reason they weren't together was because Tommy Merlyn died, they both blamed themselves and because of that guilt, they decided that they couldn't be together." Sara said with a chuckle.

Chapter 12

Summary:

Sara finally gets the thing she's wanted most for years.

Chapter Text

Laurel Lance took a deep breath as she entered her apartment in Star City, however, before she even reached to turn on the lights, she immediately perked up, sensing that she wasn't alone in her apartment.

"Whoever the hell is here, show yourself." Laurel said, wanting to get this over with, since she'd had a long day and she really did not want to deal with this crap now.

However, instead of getting a response, the intruder dropped down from the ceiling and immediately attacked her, but Laurel quickly anticipated this and struck back, she and her attacker were evenly matched, though she quickly realized that her attacker was several inches shorter than her and she had blonde hair.

Laurel couldn't help but roll her eyes as she finally got the drop on her attacker and pinned her to the ground before looking down at the amused face of her little sister.

"Sara." Laurel said, exasperated.

"Miss me sis?" Sara asked smartly from under her.

"Was this attack really necessary?" Laurel asked as she helped her sister up.

"I saw how different your life was while I was gone and I wanted to see how different your skills were in this reality compared to the old one. Considering how easily you beat me, I'd say I'm impressed." Sara said.

"And you just wanted to screw with me." Laurel said.

"That goes without saying." Sara said with a chuckle as she then walked up and hugged her big sister.

"It's so good to see you again Laurel. I missed you so much." Sara said as she felt her sister hug her back.

"Now you know how I felt when you died both times. I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised you didn't try to bring me back like I did you." Laurel said.

"Trust me, dad and I both tried. Dad tried to have Nyssa use the pit on you, even though it had been destroyed and I decided to use time travel to kill Darhk before he could kill you. It took me a while, but my team helped me learn to accept it and that you wouldn't want me to put history at risk just to save you." Sara said.

"You're right. Honestly, bringing you back, that was more for me. It was selfish." Laurel said.

"Maybe, but I'm not really in a position to judge, since during Crisis, Ollie's grown up daughter from the future and I tried to use a Lazarus Pit on a parallel world to bring Ollie back after he was killed at the beginning of Crisis." Sara said.

"Let's make a promise to each other. No more resurrections. They don't end well." Laurel said.

"Agreed. But let's also hope that we don't have to worry about that until we both reach old age." Sara said and Laurel smiled.

"Deal. But anyways, I can tell by the look on your face that you've got something else to tell me, so what is it?" Laurel asked.

"Let's just say you're going to get to fulfill the role of being a sister that you never thought you would." Sara said.

"And that would be?" Laurel asked.

"You're going to be my maid of honor." Sara said, much to Laurel's pleasant shock.

"Wait, did you just say what I think you just said?" Laurel asked, needing to make sure she heard right.

"Yeah, I did. I'm engaged." Sara said, not sure which was better. Telling people she was engaged or that she could tell her sister that she was engaged.

"Tell me everything." Laurel said immediately, needing to know everything there was to know about this miracle worker who'd done the impossible. She'd domesticated her little sister.

"Her name is Ava Sharpe and ironically, when we first met, we hated each other." Sara said.

"Let's take a seat on the couch and discuss this over some wine." Laurel said.

"Wait, I thought you were a recovering alcoholic?" Sara asked.

"I was, then I died and came back and that Monitor guy did me a favor and helped me out with that. I still don't drink very often, but my little sister returns from the dead and she's engaged. If that doesn't call for celebration, I don't know what does." Laurel said.

"Yeah, not sure I'll have time for a full party, since I'm not going to be in this time period for very long, a few days tops." Sara said.

"Duty calls." Laurel said.

"It does. You were right when you convinced me to join the Legends, since I feel like I've finally found my calling." Sara said.

"I get it. But you are going to see dad right?" Laurel asked.

"Since I need to ask him to walk me down the aisle, yeah. So I was thinking about Lance family dinner. Including our new stepmom and step sister, so I can properly meet them both." Sara said.

"I'm sure dad will be thrilled. Are you gonna see mom?" Laurel asked.

"Yeah. Mainly because I want to get her ring from her to give to Ava." Sara said and Laurel smiled.

"I never thought I'd see the day that Sara Lance wants to get married." Laurel said.

"Things change." Sara said.

"Yeah, but I wasn't expecting them to change this much. And you are going to see Ollie while you're here right?" Laurel asked.

"Of course. Speaking of which, what's going on between you and him?" Sara asked, changing the topic from her love life to Laurel's.

"Well, considering he just got back from Lian Yu, we're still figuring that out." Laurel said.

"Well, here's some sisterly advice for you. What you said about you and Ollie not being able to be together, that was bull. Even when I was with him, I could tell I was his second choice. You've always been his first. Besides, the reason you said those words doesn't exist anymore since Tommy is still alive and he won't die this time around." Sara said.

"I thought it was the big sister who gave out advice like that?" Laurel asked.

"And which of us is single right now?" Sara asked as Laurel handed her a wine glass.

"Very funny." Laurel said as they clinked their wine glasses together to drink.

Chapter 13

Summary:

Sara and Ray both have very important reunions.

Chapter Text

"I have to admit, I was surprised when I got your call." Lyla said to Sara as she walked up to Sara in the warehouse where Sara was waiting.

"This can't wait. I need two favors from you and they're big ones." Sara said.

"Well Sara, you helped bring back the entire Universe, so I'd say that entitles you to any favor you want, though you have to remember that the world doesn't know about that. Which reminds me, when you get your costume in this reality, you should have Cisco add a mask, since I have a feeling that you'll be helping Team Arrow out from time to time." Lyla said.

"Already on my list. But that's not why I asked you. The first thing I need is a prisoner transfer for one Leonard Snart and one Mick Rory from Iron Heights so my team can recruit them." Sara said.

"Done. And I'm assuming that the other favor involves General Wade Eiling?" Lyla asked.

"How did you know?" Sara asked.

"Because I think you'll be very interested to know that as of this morning, Wade Eiling is now sitting in military prison, since Cisco and Caitlin provided me with enough information about his experiments on Grodd to give me cause to obtain a search warrant and to no surprise, I found enough to put him away for life for illegal experimentation." Lyla said and Sara smiled.

"Thank you. I'm sure Jax will be thrilled about that. Also, do me one more favor and make sure that your brother-in-law is actually dead, because I just got my sister back and there's no way in hell I'm losing her again." Sara said.

"Don't worry, we are already looking into that." Lyla said.

"Good. Because if he isn't dead yet, you need to start working on fixing that. Or at least capturing and interrogating him for intel on Hive. I don't care which one, as long as it eventually ends with his death." Sara said and Lyla nodded.

"As long as someone else besides Johnny is the one to pull the trigger, since I saw what it did to him." Lyla said and Sara nodded, since honestly, she didn't care who pulled the trigger, as long as Andy Diggle would never be able to help threaten her sister again.

"Anyways, do you know where Ollie is right now?" Sara asked.

"Why, so you can beat him up for dying?" Lyla asked in amusement.

"You really think that I of all people have the right to be mad at him for dying when honestly I've lost track of how many times I've died. No. I just need to see him alive with my own eyes." Sara said and Lyla nodded.

"I understand." Lyla nodded.

"Let me know when the prisoner transfer happens so my team can hijack it." Sara said.

"Or even better, you guys can be the ones who do the transfer." Lyla said.

"I'll let Nate and Ray handle that." Sara said and Lyla nodded.

"Yo, this place is dope." Cisco said after Ray time couriered him into the Waverider's lab.

"I bet your lab looks cooler." Ray said with a smile as he and Cisco bro hugged.

"True, but still, this place is awesome. I never got a chance to fully enjoy it the last time I was on board because of Crisis and the time before that, it was earth x nazis." Cisco said.

"Fair enough. But anyways, we brought here for a reason." Ray said as Jax joined them.

"Jax." Cisco said as he hugged his old friend.

"Hey Cisco. Grey sends his regards and once Eiling is locked up, I'm sure he'll make contact." Jax said.

"Well, that shouldn't be long, since Caitlin and I ratted him out to Lyla earlier this morning. He should be locked up soon if he's not already." Cisco said.

"Great, but the reason we called you here is because in this reality, I'm a solo firestorm, but the matrix is only semi stable. We're hoping you can help Ray find a way to fully stabilize it." Jax said and Cisco nodded.

"Please tell me the Professor at least gave you all the data he has on the matrix so that I don't have to start from scratch." Cisco asked.

"Yep, it's right here." Ray said as he handed Cisco a tablet.

"Okay, I think I see the problem here." Cisco said after a few minutes.

"And that is?" Jax asked.

"That Stein had to work with limited resources. Based on what I can tell from this data and from that shotty suit he built you, you're missing one key component. The quantum splicer. Once you get that and it's configured to your needs, it should stabilize the matrix in you permanently and luckily, Caitlin and I have been preparing for this, since we've already started building the splicer. I'm sure if I bring it here, Ray and I can finish it easily." Cisco said.

"And while you're at it, I could use your help finishing my Atom exosuit, since I have some ideas for upgrades to it." Ray said and Cisco nodded.

"And you know I'll be more than happy to do that." Cisco said as Ray opened up another portal for him to use to get the splicer prototype.

Cisco and Ray make some upgrades to Ray's suit.

Chapter Text

"Well Jax, how does that feel?" Cisco asked as he attached the completed quantum splicer he and Ray had just finished onto Jax's chest.

"Honestly, I feel much better. Like the matrix is finally stabilized." Jax said as he felt like a weight had been lifted.

"Gideon, can you run scans on Jax to confirm?" Ray asked.

"Right away Dr. Palmer." Gideon said as she then proceeded to scan Jax.

"Well Gideon, what's the verdict?" Jax asked.

"As you said, it appears that the quantum splicer has fully stabilized the firestorm matrix inside your body. You can now use the matrix to its full potential, even without it on, though that is not recommended." Gideon said.

"That's fine, I don't need to use my powers without the splicer anyways." Jax said.

"Now, one last thing. You know I need to make you a better suit right?" Cisco asked, since he knew that Marin had done the best he could with Jax's current suit, but it honestly hurt Cisco to look at it.

"I was hoping you would, since I agree with you, that suit needs improvements. Starting with returning to my preferred color scheme." Jax said and Cisco nodded in agreement.

"Anyways, now onto my suit." Ray said as Jax left, knowing that he didn't need to be involved in any of the nerd talk that Cisco and Ray were sure to get into, since he dealt with that enough at home with Stein and Lily. Speaking of which, he needed to call them and let them know that Eiling was in prison.

"Okay, well, first things first, do you have any dwarf star alloy on hand to power it, since if not, there's no point in building the rest of the suit." Cisco said.

"Not yet. Honestly, the suit was still in the planning stages before I got my memories restored." Ray said.

"So, before we can start building you a new supersuit, first we need to get our hands on its power source and that won't be easy, since I don't think we're supposed to leave this time period right now and dwarf star is incredibly hard to come by in the present." Cisco said.

"Gideon, any chance you could help us out with that?" Ray asked doubtfully, thinking that he'd need to talk to Sara about a trip to the Old West for what he needed.

"Actually, according to the historical records, in this time period, the department of extranormal operations has a supply of dwarf star in a secret facility to keep it from dangerous hands." Gideon said.

"Huh, well that's convenient." Cisco said and Ray nodded.

"I guess we better call Alex. I'm sure we can convince her to give us some of it for the suit." Ray said and Cisco nodded.

Just like they'd hoped, Alex was more than willing to give Ray and Cisco some of the DEO's stockpile of dwarf star, since it's not like it was doing them any good just sitting around one of their offsite facilities.

Now they were sitting in the Waverider's lab, going over the plans for the suit.

"Thankfully, you know how to build this thing without causing any explosions." Cisco said.

"Yeah, tell me about it." Ray said, since he did not need to spend months as the size of a tater tot again.

"Anyways, what kind of changes did you have in mind?" Cisco asked.

"Well for starters, it would be nice if the suit was a bit more automated. It would save me some time." Ray said.

"Are you saying you want your suit to kind of be an Iron Man ripoff?" Cisco asked and Ray rolled his eyes.

"I don't need missiles or a chest beam or anything like that. I'd just kind of like to be able to put the suit on instantly and be able to carry it around without worrying about it falling out of my pocket." Ray said.

"Okay, I see a simple solution to that. Lace the entire suit with nanites like I did with all of Team Flash's suits in this reality for easy storage. Also, I've got some other ideas." Cisco said with a grin, since he had to admit, his comparison to Iron Man was accurate, since a lot of his ideas for upgrades came from those movies. Including the ones that hadn't come out yet.

"Speaking of suits, have you made one for Sara yet?" Ray asked after he gave Cisco his approval on his ideas, which were basically using nanites to contain the whole suit in a watch that could also release separate components of the suit aside from just the whole one. The way it would work is that Cisco built thrusters into all the components of the suit, including the helmet, the torso the gauntlets and boots and it was designed so that once the pieces were pieces were in place on Ray's body, they'd release nanites that would form the remained of the suit to link it together. The nanites in the suit would also allow for auto repairs.

"Yeah, just haven't seen her to give it to her yet. Also, you're gonna need this." Cisco said as he handed Ray a flash drive.

"What's this?" Ray asked.

"The schematics for the cold and heat guns, since Snart and Rory will need them when you recruit them and knowing Snart, he'll want him and Mick to build the guns themselves." Cisco said and Ray nodded.

"Fair point and I'm sure Gideon can fabricate the parts they need to build them, but I feel like we should include some kind of safeguard in case those guns fall into the wrong hands." Ray said.

"Already thought one up and it's in the plans." Cisco said and Ray grinned.

"Great. Can't wait. Now, let's see if this suit will work." Ray said as he looked down at his completed Atom suit.

"Let's find out." Cisco said as Ray took a deep breath and activated his suit, and fortunately, instead of blowing up, it worked as it was supposed to and fully suited him up.

"Welcome back Atom." Cisco said.

"Thanks. But we still have more tests to run." Ray said and Cisco nodded.

Chapter 15

Summary:

Sara has a long overdue talk with her father.

Chapter Text

After her meeting with Lyla, Sara's next stop in Star City was to see her dad. She was just glad that they'd already worked up a cover story for where she's been over the past five years, since she and Laurel had agreed to keep her father in the dark about the old reality. Especially since his life was so much better in this new one.

And her reunion with her father was just as positive as she'd hoped, since Quentin had immediately welcomed her back into his life, though he did ask her where she's been and Sara had answered that she'd managed to find a way to finish her medical degree while she was being held hostage by the pirates until she'd escaped and in order to protect both herself, and her family from the pirates coming after her, she'd joined Doctors without Borders as a way to make sure she always kept moving. Or at least, that's why she'd originally joined. But eventually, she'd begun to realize that it was her passion and that was why she was still going to continue it, the only reason she came back was because she'd heard that the pirates who'd abducted her had been arrested and/or killed recently, so she decided that it was finally safe enough for her to come. Especially since there was someone else she really wanted her dad to meet. Her fiance, Ava Sharpe.

"Wait, Ava?" Quentin asked, shocked when he'd heard that.

"Yeah dad, I learned that I'm bisexual while I was gone, though I do prefer girls and Ava is the love of my life." Sara said.

"Sara, do you really think that your mom and I never suspected that you weren't as into boys as your sister was?" Quentin asked.

"Wait, you knew?" Sara asked, shocked.

"I wouldn't say we knew, more like we suspected, but we weren't going to say anything to you about it in case we were wrong. We wanted you to come out to us when you were ready." Quentin said with a smile, which Sara shared.

"I guess I can understand that. And no offense, but I did go to Laurel first when I got back to town, so she already knows and is already trying to find a day for me to go wedding dress shopping with her." Sara said and Quentin smiled.

"Are you really that surprised? I'm assuming you told her that she's your maid of honor?" Quentin asked her.

"Why would I ask anyone else? And just to be clear, you are walking me down the aisle." Sara said, making it clear that she was telling her father that, not asking him.

"Of course I am. Either I walk you down that aisle or you don't walk down it." Quentin said, plain and simple.

"Glad we agree on that. Now, from what Laurel told me, she's the only single member of our family in this city." Sara said, raising an eyebrow.

"She told you I remarried?" Quentin asked.

"Yeah and dad, I'm fine with it. Though I do feel a bit guilty that I'm the reason you and mom didn't work out." Sara said sadly.

"Don't blame yourself for that honey, since honestly, things were not as perfect between us as you thought. Your mom and I started having problems while you were at med school. We tried to work things out but then after you disappeared, we just realized that there were a lot of things we needed to focus on and trying to fix our marriage wasn't one of them. We both agreed that it would be better for us to just end things then to continue to waste time and energy trying to fix things. We parted on good terms and we're still friends." Quentin was quick to assure her.

"But Laurel told me that you coped with losing me by drinking?" Sara asked and Quentin sighed.

"I admit, my drinking did have some impact on the divorce, but it was something we were already thinking about. Sara, do not blame yourself for what happened. Besides, everything worked out for the best. I'm even happier in my new relationship and I even got another daughter out of it." Quentin said.

"Yeah, Felicity. I want to meet her and my new stepmom soon." Sara said.

"Bring Ava over to dinner tonight so she can meet the whole family." Quentin said and Sara smiled.

"Of course." Sara agreed, so happy to see her dad again and that things were going so well.

Chapter 16

Summary:

Dinner at the Lances leads to a very important discussion.

Chapter Text

"Are you sure I look alright?" Ava asked her fiance for the tenth time as she looked at her reflection in the mirror at the blue dress she was wearing and she had her blonde hair down.

"Ava, you look fine and I still say that you're too dressed up for dinner with my family." Sara said, rolling her eyes as she checked her watch.

"It's not just dinner Sara. It's me meeting your family for the first time. I just want to make a good impression." Ava said.

"Ava, trust me, the fact that you got me to settle down will make them love you." Sara said.

"Maybe. But still." Ava said.

"Ava, trust me, they will love you almost as much as I do." Sara said.

"I'm just curious, did your dad ever like any of your previous relationships?" Ava asked.

"Well the only two significant ones I had besides you were Oliver and Nyssa, so I'll let you be the judge." Sara said.

"You know that doesn't really help." Ava said, knowing how Quentin felt about both Oliver and Nyssa.

"Trust me Ava, he will love you and if he doesn't, I will beat him up until he does." Sara said.

"Or, you could just remind him of how I've pretty much been the one constant in your life since he died.' Ava said, since she'd been the one to provide Sara a shoulder to cry on at her father's funeral.

"No. I told you Laurel and I both decided that it was best that my dad does not remember the old reality. I need you to please respect that. Remember the cover we came up with." Sara said, making it clear that this was not up for discussion.

"Okay." Ava said and if Sara hadn't had turned away from her, she would've seen the worried expression on her fiance's face.

"Gideon, Ava and I are heading out for dinner at my dad's and I'm putting you in charge. I do not want you to allow this ship to even leave the ground while we're gone." Sara said, since she did not trust the kids anywhere in the timeline that she and Ava were not.

"Understood captain. Should I put the ship on lockdown Captain?" Gideon asked.

"No, they can leave the ship, but the ship does not leave this time period until Ava and I are back on board. Am I clear?" Sara asked.

"I'm disabling the time drive now, Captain." Gideon said.

"Good." Sara said as she took Ava's arm and led her off the ship.

Sara took a deep breath before she knocked on the door of her father's apartment and smiled when he opened the door, a big smile on his face.

"Sara, welcome home again and you must be Ava." Quentin asked, though Sara couldn't help but feel like her father was just acting, but she didn't know why.

"It's nice to meet you Mr. Lance. Sara has told me so much about you." Ava said.

"And I can't wait to get to know my future daughter-in-law, but first, Sara, can I talk to you in private for a minute?" Quentin asked.

"Yeah, sure." Sara said, wondering what that was about as she let her father lead her into the currently empty kitchen.

"So, when were you going to tell me that you've actually spent the past few years training with the League of Assassins?" Quentin asked his daughter.

"What are you talking about?" Sara asked, wondering how her father could possibly know about that, but then she remembered how tense Ava had been the entire drive over here and suddenly the pieces fell into place.

"Damn it Ava. I told her I did not want you to remember the old reality." Sara said angrily, since it was clear that Ava had gone behind her back and used Ray's memory gun on her father.

"Sara, I'm glad that she did it, since you should know better than anyone what secrets and lies have done to our family. Besides, now I remember that both of my daughters are heroes and now you won't have to lie to me about where you're going to be and Laurel won't have to lie to me about being the Black Canary." Quentin said and Sara sighed.

"I know, but Laurel and I wanted to keep you away from this life. We never wanted you involved in it. We both chose this life." Sara said.

"And so did I. Besides, now I won't waste my time hunting Oliver down after he becomes active." Quentin said.

"So you're okay, even though you remember a world where both Laurel and I died?" Sara asked, needing to be sure that her father was okay with this.

"Yes, I am. Especially since now I know how to prevent it, including making sure that if that son of a bitch Darhk ever shows his face in this city again, to shoot him on sight." Quentin said.

"No, if he shows up, tell Ollie. We both know he's the only one who can kill Darhk, since he's the only one who can resist his magic. But dad, just as much as you don't want to lose Laurel and I, we don't want to lose you either. I need my dad to walk me down the aisle, since while Ava is in trouble for going behind my back with this, it's not a deal breaker, since I know her heart was in the right place." Sara said.

"I promise, I'll try to make sure that my death does not come any time soon, but at the same time, you know parents are not supposed to outlive their children right. So make sure I don't." Quentin said.

"As long as I get Ollie to promise me that he will put Ricardo Diaz in the ground the first chance he gets." Sara said, since the thing she hated Diaz the most for was that he was the reason her dad died and she did not want to go through that again.

"I'm sure that's already on his list." Quentin said.

"So, we should probably let Laurel and Felicity know that you know the truth and I need to tell Ava that she is sleeping in the study tonight for going behind my back." Sara said, since she had to punish Ava in some way, no matter how good her intentions had been.

"Yeah, let's go." Quentin said as they went out to rejoin the group.

Summary:

The Legends take a night off and Rip faces challenges at the Vanishing Point.

Chapter Text

"Wait, so we can't leave this time period at all?" Nate asked after Gideon had informed him, Jax, Ray and Nora about Sara's orders.

"No, apparently Captain Lance does not trust you to leave this time period without her on this ship and considering what happened the last time she tried to have a nice night out with Ms. Sharpe, can you blame her?" Gideon asked.

"What happened?" Jax asked, amused.

"We might have decided to go on a totem mission alone to the Bermuda Triangle to get the Earth totem from Blackbeard and it didn't go well." Ray said, being particularly vague about that.

"He means that this ship was nearly destroyed due to disturbances the triangle caused on my systems. It took Ms. Tarazi a long time to fix it and the ship was nearly destroyed." Gideon said.

"Yeah, honestly Ray, basic rule of maintaining this ship, steer clear of the Bermuda Triangle, it's right there in the manual." Jax said and he wasn't even joking about that, it really was in the Waverider's user manual.

"Okay, lesson learned." Ray said, deciding not to argue with Jax about it, since he knew that Jax knew the ship better than anyone else did. Even Rip.

"Anyways, since we can't leave this time period, I think Nora and I are going to do date night, since it's not like we really got the chance to do that before." Ray said and Nora nodded.

"I am so glad that I'm not stuck with that Fairy Godmother gig anymore. I mean yes, it was a way for me to cope with what I went through because of my bastard dad, but I didn't go through that in this reality and I like being able to use my powers whenever I want and not have to rely on the commands of children. And I don't have to wear that ridiculous dress and tiara anymore." Nora said, since there had been a few perks to her old gig as a Fairy Godmother, she was very glad to be free of it and she'd never let Tabitha trick her into taking on the role again.

"So Jax, you want to go get drinks, since it's not like either of us have dates right now." Nate said.

"Yeah, I think that I'll be very happy when Snart and Rory rejoin the team, if only so that I won't be the only single guy on this ship." Jax said.

"What about Behrad?" Nate asked.

"Fair point. But you'll be hooking up with Zari once we recruit her and Ray's with Nora and Sara's with Ava." Jax said.

"Who knows, maybe the future Mrs. Jackson is waiting for you on this mission, since weren't you married in the old reality?" Ray asked.

"Yeah, but that was a whole thing that didn't happen until after I left the Legends and right now I have no plans on doing that." Jax said.

"Come on, let's go enjoy our night off." Ray said and the other Legends nodded.

"Incoming message from Argus director Lyla Michaels." Gideon said.

"What is it?" Jax asked.

"She says that Mr. Snart and Mr. Rory are now ready for extraction. Would you prefer to wait until Captain Lance returns or do you want to do it now?" Gideon asked.

"I think it would be best if we waited for Sara to get back, if only because I don't think she trusts us to pull any kind of mission without her to watch us." Ray said and Nate nodded in agreement.

"Okay then, I guess we're having a night off." Jax said, surprised that for once, the Legends were doing the smart thing instead of the usual thing.

Meanwhile, back at the Vanishing Point, Rip Hunter's attempts to start a rebellion were not going well, since the moment he'd arrived at the Vanishing Point in nothing more than the jumpship, the Time Masters had immediately been suspicious, especially after they discovered that the Waverider was somehow beyond their ability to track and it was at that point that they'd realized that he'd likely been turned against them, so before he could get too far, the guards had him arrested, which was why he was currently stuck in one of the Vanishing Point's cells, wondering what form of torture they were going to use against him today. Every day they asked him the same questions. Where was his ship? Why can't they track it? Et cetera.

But Rip remained firm in his silence, especially since on his way to the Vanishing Point, he had sent a message to Miranda and Jonas to find a place to hide, since he knew now that the Time Masters knew about his family. Fortunately, Rip had been prepared for this possibility, even before the memory restoration. Back when he and Miranda had first gotten married, they'd created an escape plan for Miranda in case the Time Masters or anyone else found out about their marriage. Rip had managed to secure an alternate form of time travel tech and had given it to Miranda, saying that it was one use only and it was programmed to take her to a fragmentation, though he didn't know which one, but it would provide her and later Jonas with a quick escape and he'd warned them to use it so that they would be safe from the Time Masters until they were deposed.

However, Rip was pulled from his thoughts when he heard the door to the prison block open and he saw Captain Eve Baxter walk in.

"Captain Baxter. What brings you here? Are the time masters hoping I might reveal something to you when I would not to them?" Rip asked.

"No. I'm here because I want to hear why you'd turn your back on them. I need to know." Eve said.

"I discovered the truth. Their hypocrisy. They don't want to protect history, they want to control it. To engineer it according to their own designs and not caring about the consequences." Rip said.

"You're lying." Eve said.

"Am I? Why don't you ask them where they get all their data about the timeline from? Ask them about what the Oculus is and see how they react. They claim to be doing what needs to be done for history, but in reality, they're doing what they have to just because they can. The idea of free will terrifies them. They want a timeline that they can control completely. I simply found a way to cut the strings off me." Rip said.

"How can you be so sure?" Eve asked.

"Because I chose to disobey them once before when I allowed myself to fall in love with Miranda Coburn. And that helped me be clear minded enough to realize the truth. If you don't believe me, then why don't you ask your ship to take you to the Oculus wellspring. You'll find that everything I've told is true there." Rip said, thinking that maybe he could finally start this rebellion after all, since he could tell that Baxter was considering his words she left him alone. Now he just had to hope that she'd follow his advice and learn the truth for herself. Once she did, then they could strike.

Chapter 18

Summary:

The revolution begins.

Chapter Text

To say Captain Baxter was in shock was an understatement considering what she'd just seen. Despite her best instincts, she'd given into the questions Rip had given her and had gotten her ship to take her to a place called the Oculus Wellspring, which she found was a secret location hidden to the far side of the Vanishing Point where no captain had ever gone. There she'd found proof that Captain Hunter was right. The Time Masters were frauds. They were controlling time. And now she understood Rip's desire to go rogue and now she was actually thinking about doing the same thing.

Which is why she was currently sneaking back into the detention center to find Rip waiting for her.

"What took you so long?" Rip asked.

"Sorry, I was gathering proof that I could use to sway the other captains, since I'm assuming that you came back here to expose the truth." Eve said and Rip nodded.

"Yes. And essentially start a civil war between us captains and the Time Council, since they won't relinquish power willingly." Rip said.

"I'm aware. And I'm assuming that you have a plan to keep us all from being captured?" Eve asked as she let him out.

"We scatter throughout the fragmentations until we have time to plan a proper attack, while also gathering any possible allies across the timeline, since I guarantee that the Time Masters will be doing the same." Rip said and Eve nodded, since that did make sense as she handed him his revolver and duster.

"Thanks." Rip said.

"What's the plan?" Eve asked.

"We get to your ship, and have Gilbert broadcast your proof to every time ship, since from could tell, all the other captains are currently on missions aren't they?" Rip asked.

"They are. And we can use the emergency frequency to send a message to the other ships without alerting the Time Council." Eve said and Rip nodded in agreement.

"Let's get out of here before they realize I'm not in my cell." Rip said and Eve nodded as they made a break for the Acheron.

"That was way too easy." Rip said as they made their way to the Acheron and time jumped away.

"In all likelihood, the Time Council was expecting me to break you out and take you to your ship and lead them to it." Eve said and Rip nodded.

"But we're not. Have Gilbert keep us on a random course throughout the Temporal Zone, the faster and more dangerous the better. Quick, random jumps that can't be traced." Rip said, since unlike the Waverider, which he knew had been upgraded to be cloaked from the Oculus, the Acheron was not, so they'd have to improvise until Ray and Jax were able to upgrade the rest of the fleet.

"So we're not heading straight for a fragmentation?" Eve asked.

"No, we need to create enough of a trail to keep the time masters busy pursuing us until we can find a way to cloak the ship from it. Which should be easy once I can contact the Waverider, since its cloaking tech has already been upgraded to conceal it from the Time Masters, so we'll just need to replicate it." Rip said and Eve quickly got the message to drop it as she gave Gilbert the order to do what Rip said.

"Course locked in. I suggest that you brace yourself." Gilbert said.

"Have you disconnected us from the Omnimatrix mainframe?" Eve asked.

"Yes Captain. I've severed my link to the Vanishing Point's computer systems and I've connected to the emergency frequency and ensured that only other time ships can receive the transmission." Gilbert assured them.

"Good. Commence jump and let's send our message. Upload this footage now." Eve said as she plugged the drive containing the information she'd gathered about the Oculus while Rip recorded a message.

"To all Time Captains, this is an urgent message from Captain Rip Hunter and Captain Eve Baxter. We have all been deceived by the Time Council. We have discovered that they are not interested in protecting time, but rather controlling it. The footage acquired from Captain Baxter proves that they are using a device called the Oculus to control the timeline to their own benefit. They don't care about protecting history like we were told. The time has come for a change. If you agree, complete your mission and then head to a random fragmentation to hide from the Time Council until you are contacted with a proper plan." Rip said as the message was sent.

"Now we wait and hope that it works." Eve said, right as they began getting responses.

"I guess it did. Let the revolution begin." Rip said as they saw how quickly how many of their fellow captains were pledging their support. They just hoped that the time council wouldn't intercept the transmissions.

"Let's go." Rip said and Eve nodded as they headed for a fragmentation themselves to await the Legends joining them.

"Well, that did not go how I planned, but it was nice. Especially since I could tell my sister that she'll be my maid of honor at our wedding. Speaking of which, have you given any thought about who you want to have stand for you?" Sara asked her fiance as they walked back to the Waverider.

"Haven't given it much thought yet, but don't worry, I will. Though you know we'll have to make lots of trips back here so your sister can be part of the wedding planning, since she made it very clear that she'd kill us if she wasn't involved." Ava said.

"Which is exactly why I'm just gonna give her a time courier." Sara said and Ava chuckled.

"Probably a good idea." Ava said as they walked onto the ship, only to find it suspiciously empty.

"Gideon, do I want to know where the rest of the team is?" Sara asked.

"Dr. Palmer and Ms. Darhk are out at dinner, since like you, they decided to have date night tonight." Gideon said.

"Okay, well at least they're smart enough to know not to mess with our night. And what about Nate and Jax?" Sara asked.

"I believe you should be getting a call from your father any minute telling you that they are currently in a holding cell at SCPD." Gideon said.

"Wait, what?" Sara asked.

"Apparently they decided to go out for drinks and had a few too many which turned into a bar fight." Gideon said, amusement clear in her voice, which Sara and Ava clearly shared.

"At least they stayed in this time period." Sara said.

"So, are we gonna go bail them out?" Ava asked.

"No, I think we'll let them spend tonight in the drunk tank and wait for my dad to call me tomorrow morning to tell me that they're there." Sara said with a smirk.

"Fair enough." Ava said.

"Oh, by the way captain, I got a message from Director Michaels at Argus that Mr. Snart and Mr. Rory are ready for pick up." Gideon said.

"Good. We'll give them one more night of being criminals then remind them that they're somewhat decent guys." Sara said.

"So, I guess we have the ship to ourselves, at least until Ray and Nora get back." Ava said.

"I guess so." Sara agreed.

"Before you start making any plans, I've discovered something that I think you'll find interesting." Gideon said.

"What?" Sara asked.

"While analyzing the timeline, I've discovered that something has caused the timeline to fragment around the 21st century." Gideon said.

"Meaning?" Sara asked.

"You're aware of the existence of temporal fragmentations correct?" Gideon asked.

"Yeah, Salvation North Dakota is one of them." Sara said, wondering where Gideon was going with this.

"Well, it turns out that a new fragmentation has formed, most likely because of the number of heroes in this time period that are now free from the Oculus's control. The entire 21st century has essentially become shielded from the Time Masters, at least on Earth. They cannot see anything that occurs in this time period." Gideon said.

"Which gives us an advantage. Gideon, find a way to send word to Rip, let him know to bring all the Time Captains he's recruited to his cause here. We can start building an actual resistance against the Time Masters that way." Sara said.

"Right away captain." Gideon said.

Chapter 20

Summary:

Nate and Jax deal with the consequences of their night.

Chapter Text

Jax and Nate were currently nursing wicked hangovers in the drunk tank at SCPD precinct, where they'd spent the previous night and then finally, the door opened and Detective Quentin Lance came walking in with his daughter Sara.

"Well, well, well. And here I thought Mick was the one I'd be bailing out of the drunk tank." Sara said with a smirk.

"Did you pay our bail or did you just come here to give us shit?" Nate asked her, though he was wincing from the light in his eyes.

"Of course I paid your bail. I just decided to let you sleep here overnight so you could have the full drunk experience." Sara said and Quentin chuckled.

"I'm assuming the next time I'll see these two is at your wedding?" Quentin asked.

"Unless Ollie gets you involved in the next crossover, yeah." Sara said, happy that her father knew the truth now, since it had been easier to bail Nate and Jax out when he knew how she knew them.

"We both know he won't do that." Quentin said.

"Then you probably will not see them again until the wedding, but don't worry, I promise I'll come visit more often." Sara said, since now that she had time courier tech, she could visit her family whenever she wanted, since her biggest regret from the old reality was that she didn't spend more time with her dad and sister before they died and now she had a chance to correct that.

"Good. And tell Ava she's always welcome since I can tell she's a good influence on you." Quentin said.

"She is and I'll make sure she knows. Now, this isn't the only prison I need to pick people up from, so can you let Nate and Jax out so I can go pick up the next round of delinquents?" Sara asked, since honestly, she was pretty sure that she and Ava were the only mature, responsible members of the Legends and honestly, that scared her, especially since most of the Legends were older than her and yet ever since she became captain, she felt like she'd become their mother and so had Ava and Quentin chuckled at that.

"They're all yours. And good luck. From what Oliver told me, you're gonna need it." Quentin said.

"Trust me I'm gonna need it." Sara said as Quentin unlocked the cell to let Nate and Jax out.

"Thanks Captain." Nate said.

"Don't thank me yet. You still have to deal with my punishment for going drinking without me." Sara said.

"Of course that's what you're mad about. Not the fact that we got arrested." Jax said, not at all surprised.

"You really think that I'd be mad about that? I'm pretty sure Ollie and I spent high school in here." Sara said fondly.

"I remember. You and your sister wonder why I never liked him." Quentin said and Sara chuckled.

"He's a good guy, he just needed to grow up." Sara said.

"So did you and you both have." Quentin said and Sara nodded in agreement.

"Well, if it isn't our delinquents." Ava said as Sara brought the drunks on to the ship.

"Yep and you can handle their punishments for either getting arrested or not inviting us to go drinking with them, I'll let you decide what you're punishing them for, while I go pick up the other criminals." Sara said and Ava nodded as Sara opened a portal to Argus to go get Mick and Snart while Ava dealt with Nate and Jax.

"So, what's the punishment?" Jax asked.

"Cleaning detail for a week. No powers and you have to clean Rory's room and be lucky we're not making you his servants." Ava said.

"Can we at least tell Snart he's Rebecca Silver?" Jax asked, since he'd been brought up to speed on that.

"No, because Sara plans on using that to blackmail Mick to be on his best behavior at our wedding. After that, she's already called dibs on telling him." Ava said.

"Fine." Nate grumbled.

"Now go get some rest, you're gonna need it for all the cleaning you're gonna be doing." Ava said.

"Yes ma'am." Nate said as he and Jax headed to their respective rooms.

Chapter 21

Summary:

Sara finally recruits the last two legends in the present.

Chapter Text

"Sorry for the delay, I had to bail Jax and Nate out of the drunk tank. And you wonder why I don't visit more. I literally cannot leave the ship without basically letting the inmates run the asylum" Sara said to Lyla as she arrived at the Argus prison that Snart and Rory were now being held in.

"I understand. And according to what Laurel's told me, I'll be seeing a lot more of you though, since she already told Team Arrow that you're engaged." Lyla said and Sara smiled.

"I am and yes you're invited even if you weren't Dig's plus one." Sara said.

"I never thought I'd see the day that the infamous Sara Lance actually settled down and got married." Lyla said.

"Please, I might be getting married, but there's no way in hell I'm ever settling down. At least not for a while." Sara said.

"So, no talk about kids yet?" Lyla asked, slightly teasing her friend.

"Please, Ava and I both agree that the Legends are our children with the way they act. No way we're thinking about anymore kids until the current ones are all grown up." Sara and Lyla chuckled.

"From what I've heard, are you sure you want to wait for something that might never happen?" Lyla said and Sara chuckled.

"Fair point. Now, speaking of kids, where are the last two?" Sara asked, or at least, the last two in this time period, since they had another pick up to make in the year 2042.

"Follow me." Lyla said as she led Sara to a holding cell where she found Snart unconscious and Mick was just standing there, looking bored, until he saw Sara and his expression immediately shifted to one of annoyance and she could tell that he remembered, since she remembered what Novu had said about crew members on the ship before Crisis and that had included Mick.

"What took you so long?" Mick asked and Sara just chuckled, since that confirmed it.

"I thought that you'd be happy, since I let you live like a criminal again before I brought you back to an almost decent life." Sara said with a smirk.

"And I would've if I didn't have to remember that I wasn't so bad. Which sucks by the way. I was perfectly happy being an arsonist and a criminal. Now I feel kind of respectable." Mick said angrily and Sara chuckled.

"Blame the Monitor for that. But what happened to your partner?" Sara asked, referring to Snart's unconscious body.

"I got tired of listening to his questions about who that guy is and why I don't seem so out of control anymore. I figured it would be easier to keep him out until you found a way to give him a brain dump or something. Speaking of which, how are you going to tell him about you and Ava?" Mick said, since he knew how his partner felt about his captain.

"I'll turn his own gun on him if he tries to get between Ava and I. Besides, he's the one who blew himself up before we could take things any further than the one kiss we had at the Oculus and no we're not going for a repeat, since honestly, I'd kind of like to turn it into a more permanent base for us, since all of us living on the Waverider wasn't exactly ideal." Sara said.

"True. And from what I remember when I was Chronos, the Vanishing Point should be more than large enough for all of us and any time pigs Rip decides to recruit. But can you please get us out of here? It's been way too long since I've had a beer." Mick said.

"I thought that you'd be happy that you got to kick Snart's ass again?" Sara asked with a smirk, though she did gesture for Lyla to unlock the cell anyways.

"Oh I am. I'd forgotten how good it felt to kick his ass." Mick said with a smirk and Sara chuckled as he was let out of his cage and she went in to drag Snart's unconscious body out of the cell.

"A little help?" Sara asked as tossed Snart over Mick's shoulder.

"Let me know when you have a date set for the wedding so Johnny and I can be there. Also, did you hear that Barry and Iris are engaged again?" Lyla asked.

"Hadn't heard it yet. Hopefully this time their wedding will happen a bit more smoothly." Sara said.

"Yeah, kind of glad John and I missed that, since I was out of the country and John was still on the bench because of his injury." Lyla said.

"Anyways, I'll see you soon and Lyla, remember what I told you about Argus. Try and make it a better organization than it currently is." Sara said as she opened a portal using her time courier to get herself, Mick and Snart back to the ship.

Chapter 22

Summary:

Snart learns how much the Legends have changed since he died.

Chapter Text

Snart was groaning from the killer headache he had as he came too, though the headache also included memories of him being killed. Something that he had no interest in happening again.

"Next time someone else is holding down the button, because I am not doing the suicide thing again." Snart groaned as he opened his eyes.

"Don't worry, this time we're not planning on blowing up the Vanishing Point." Sara said with a smirk as she and Mick watched the crook come to his senses.

"How long was I dead?" Snart asked.

"About four years." Sara said.

"And why do I have memories of working with that Reverse Flash creep, since by the time I joined the Legends, I'd gained enough respect for Barry to not do something like that." Snart asked and Mick and Sara looked at each other, since that was an unexpected side effect.

"Those are memories of an alternate timeline where Thawne recruited you before you and Barry came to your truce and you became a Legend." Sara explained.

"Explains it. Still though, I think that Thawne must've messed with my head or something, since I'd never work with homicidal maniacs, not even for cash. Present company excluded of course." Snart said with a grin looking at both Mick and Sara.

"Careful Snart. She's not your woman anymore, if she ever was." Mick said, though he honestly wanted to watch Ava beat his partner up and honestly, so did Sara.

"Really." Snart said, sounding slightly disappointed, though he was shocked when he saw a ring on Sara's finger.

"Her name is Ava, she's my co captain and she outranks you both on this team and in my heart. Mess with her and you'll wish that you'd stayed dead after the Oculus exploded." Sara assured him, though she was keeping her deal with Mick to not mention Rebecca Silver to Snart until after her wedding, since she wanted him on his best behavior.

"Got it. Are there any ladies on this ship I can flirt with, since I clearly can't be with you anymore." Snart said, since normally he wouldn't care if Sara was taken, but in this he both respected and feared her enough to know not to push his boundaries.

"I don't think so. In fact, I think that you two and Jax are the only single people on this ship, since Ray's actually married in this reality and our next stop is to pick Nate, one of the recruits we got after you died, we're picking up his girlfriend and her brother next." Sara said, choosing not to add that Nate had kind of become Mick's new partner over the past year.

"Great. At least the original team had girls I could flirt with." Snart grumbled.

"You'll have plenty of women to flirt with across the timeline after we take down the time masters. Now come on, let's get to the bridge so we can go get the rest of the team before we go rendezvous with Rip." Sara said.

"Wait, Rip's not here?" Snart asked, surprised, but not unhappy about it.

"Sara replaced him as Captain after you died and she's so much better at it than he ever was." Mick said.

"Really." Snart said, though he wasn't surprised.

"Really. Now, let's get to the bridge so we can get the rest of the team and then go join a war." Sara said.

"Wait, what war?" Mick asked, since that was news to him..

"Yeah, this time around, instead of blindly jumping around the timeline and using extreme and desperate measures, we're putting our knowledge of the future to good use. We're gonna take the fight to the Time Masters." Sara said.

"As long as that means that someone else is gonna blow themselves up this time, I'm all for it." Snart said and Sara rolled her eyes.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to kill the Time Masters without any of our allies dying." Sara said.

"What allies?" Mick asked.

"Remember Captain Eve Baxter. She's the one who's timeship was hijacked by the time pirates sold us out too." Sara said.

"She's helping us?" Mick asked.

"She and most of the other time captains were innocent. They were just as in the dark about what Druce and the Time Council were doing as we were." Sara said and Snart nodded.

"As long as they're on our side. I don't care. More people to throw in front of myself, the better." Snart said and both Sara and Mick rolled their eyes at that.

"Let's go. And Snart, Ava is already not a fan of yours, since she knows our history, please try not to give her a reason to kill you." Sara said.

"I'll make sure he behaves." Mick said.

"The irony of that statement." Snart said with a chuckle.

"I've come a long way, Snart. Not the mindless animal you once left to die." Mick said as he followed Sara out of the medbay as Snart wondered just how much he'd missed after he'd died.

Chapter 23

Summary:

The Legends discuss a problem that comes up in trying to recruit the Tarazis.

Chapter Text

Nate had been going over the timeline data for Zari only to find something that might be a problem.

"We might have a problem." Nate said as Sara, Mick and Snart joined him, Ava, Ray, Nora and Jax on the bridge.

"My favorite words. What's going on?" Sara asked.

"I'm guessing that a lot of things have happened since the last time you guys checked the timeline, but Zari and Behrad are no longer resistance freedom fighters." Nate said.

"Show me." Sara said.

"Dr. Heywood is correct Captain. It would appear that due to the presence and actions of Superman, Supergirl, the Flash and all the other heroes of this time period, along with the actions of Argus Director Lyla Micheals, the anti metahuman and anti alien act of 2032 failed, which averted the rise of the dystopian future we recruited Ms. Tomaz from originally." Gideon said.

"Great. So what happened to them now?" Sara asked, needing to know if they could still recruit them.

"Ms. Tarazi is a social media influencer and entrepreneur, along with being a self made millionaire. She's one of the most successful people in her decade." Gideon said

"Okay, so she's a no go, what about Behrad?" Nate asked, hoping that they could find a way to get his Zari back.

Before Gideon could respond, she detected a signal coming from 2042.

"Actually, I think Mr. Tarazi is trying to hail the ship." Gideon said.

"Wait, what?" Sara asked.

"Actually, that does make sense, since Behrad was on the Waverider when the antimatter wave hit, just like Nate and Mick were, so it makes sense that he remembers the old reality." Ava said and Sara nodded.

"Just to be sure, what was his life like?" Sara asked.

"He'll be ready to go, since while he used to be a child's tv star, his show's ratings began to drop and considering the day I am receiving the signal from is the day his show was cancelled, I think that he will be more than willing to come with us." Gideon said.

"Good, at least I can get my time bro back." Nate said.

"I do have a suggestion that there might be another member of the Tarazi family that we can recruit in Zari Tarazi's place." Gideon said.

"Let's hear it." Sara said.

"In this reality, Ms. Tarazi has a twin sister. Dr. Adrianna Tarazi, who is a jack of all trades." Gideon said.

"What do you mean?" Nate asked.

"Her primary career is as an archaeologist, but she clearly has other passions, particularly being a thrillseeker, since she is highly skilled in multiple forms of martial arts, though not at Captain Lance's level, she's a motorcycle expert, she speaks as many languages as Dr. Heywood's grandfather did and her knowledge of history and historical artifacts could rival that of Dr. Heywood. Not to mention, she also possesses the earth totem, which she found on a dig in Argentina." Gideon said.

"And does Behrad still have the air totem?" Sara asked.

"He does." Gideon said.

"Perfect. Then we can get two totems for the price of one. And maybe someday we can consider bringing this new version of Zari into the fold, but honestly, Adrianna sounds a lot like our Zari was. Still, Adrianna is the more practical choice and who knows Nate, she looks just like our Zari, maybe even more than this timeline's Zari does." Sara said.

"True. So where are they?" Nate asked.

"The signal is coming from Los Angeles." Gideon said.

"That is where we're headed. Everyone strap in, we're heading to the future." Sara said as they all took their seats and Snart did not miss how Ava was glaring at him, as if she was challenging him to try and sit anywhere near Sara, though he did not take the bait. While he may have had feelings for Sara once, they weren't worth possibly getting himself killed. Again. Besides, there were plenty of other fish in the time stream for him to go after.

Chapter 24

Summary:

The mission to recruit the Tarazis reveals an even larger secret than the Legends were expecting to find and more than one reunion.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Behrad Tarazi was currently wondering what was taking so long for his team to find him, since he'd already built a time beacon to call the Waverider to them, since thanks to the Monitor showing up, he remembered his engineering skills from when he'd worked as the primary engineer of the ship and he'd used those skills to build a time beacon from parts he'd scavenged from his now cancelled children's tv show, since while it had been fun for a time, he was looking forward to going back to being a totem bearing, time traveling superhero.

However, he was pulled from those thoughts when he heard his older sister Adrianna enter his apartment and Behrad was quick to hide the time beacon from her, since while she knew that he'd stolen the family totem, she did not know anything about the old reality. Which was too bad, because the Monitor had also restored his memories of the pre-Heyworld timeline and now he knew just how much his sister looked and acted just like the version of their other sister Zari, who'd been a Legend in his place and he knew that she'd make a great legend herself.

"Thanks for letting me crash here Behrad." Adrianna said as she crashed on the couch, which she'd been sleeping on the past few nights since she'd gotten back to the states following her latest dig and she was donating a few pieces to some museums here in LA, in fact, she'd just gotten back from the last presentation.

"Thank you for covering the rent until I can find some new work." Behrad said.

"Least I can do. After all, a houseguest has to pull their weight, even if their family. When are you gonna tell mama and baba about your show being cancelled?" Adrianna asked.

"Not sure. But I am really not looking forward to Zari finding out about this." Behrad said.

"Yeah, I don't blame you. You could always come work with me. After all, I could use a tech guy on some of my digs." Adrianna offered.

"Thanks." Behrad said with a smile, right as there was a knock on the door.

"You expecting someone?" Adrianna asked him.

"No and I'm guessing you weren't either." Behrad said.

"Repo people here." A familiar female voice said from the other side of the door and Behrad couldn't help but chuckle.

"Yeah, you're using that totem on them before they take the TV or any of the video games." Adrianna said and Behrad chuckled.

"I'll see if I can talk to them." Behrad said as he went to open the door to find Sara and Nate waiting for her.

"Really, repo people?" Behrad asked them.

"It seemed appropriate. Now pack your things." Sara said as she and Nate entered the apartment.

Before anyone could say another word, Adrianna surprised all of them by rushing forward and practically jumping on Nate and kissing him.

"Whoa, any idea what's going on there?" Sara asked.

"I'm just as confused as you are." Behrad said as Adrianna pulled away.

"Sorry, but after being stuck in a totem for who knows how long, I got impatient." Adrianna said.

"Wait, what?" Nate asked, wondering if that meant what he thought it did.

"It's me. Zari. The Zari you knew on the Waverider." Adrianna said.

"What, but your name is Adrianna?" Sara asked, trying to make sense of all this.

"Yeah, because that is my real name. Zari Tomaz was an alias I created after I had to go on the run. My birth name is Adrianna Zari Tarazi. Even as a kid I preferred to go by my middle name." Zari/Adrianna said.

"Why didn't you ever tell us?" Nate asked.

"Honestly, it was so long ago, I just wanted to forget. I had to literally erase Adrianna from existence to keep myself and my family safe." Adrianna said.

"How do you remember?" Behrad now asked.

"The Monitor, when he came to visit you, he detected my spirit in the Air Totem and he pulled it out and fused with the spirit and body of my counterpart, Adrianna Tarazi." Adrianna said.

"No wonder you always seemed more like you than Zari." Behrad said.

"Yeah, that's going to take some getting used to." Sara said.

"I know, trust me, it's taken a while to get used to going by my real name again, but I have to admit it's nice to hear." Adrianna said.

"So, I guess we'll get used to it, though I have to admit, it's nice to not have to win you over again." Nate said and Adrianna smiled.

"I bet it is for your sake." Adrianna said.

"So, why didn't you tell me about this after it happened?" Behrad now asked his sister.

"Honestly, my plan was just to screw with you guys for as long as I could, just to see if I could use the new girl card to get out of chore duty for a while." Adrianna said with a smirk, which Sara shared with her.

"And I respect that." Sara said proudly.

"But then when I saw Nate here, I decided screw it and decided that life was too short." Adrianna said.

"Good, because in order to make sure that we have enough cabins, you and Nate can now share quarters like Ava and I and Ray and Nora." Sara said.

"Okay, what's with the goofy smile?" Adrianna asked, seeing a look on Sara's face that was very un-Saralike.

"Tell them captain." Nate said with a smile.

"Ava and I are engaged." Sara said.

"Man, it must have really been the end of the world if the infamous Sara Lance is getting married." Behrad said and his sister nodded in agreement.

"Very funny. But anyways, we need to get back to the ship, since the sooner we deal with the time masters, the sooner I can make Ava an honest woman." Sara said and both Tarazis nodded, though they were happy to see Sara so happy.

Notes:

Hope you guys liked that little twist. It just seemed like too good of an opportunity to miss.

Chapter 25

Summary:

The Time Council and Savage both decide that it might be time to go their separate ways.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Time Master Druce walked into the cell block that Vandal Savage had come to call home.

"How are you feeling today Mr. Savage? Are you feeling more agreeable?" Druce asked him.

"You're making a big mistake holding me here." Savage said.

"Quiet before we initiate the Omega Protocol on you." Druce said.

"You're bluffing. No matter what you've done, your top goal is to preserve the timeline and we both know that removing me from it at any point would have drastic consequences considering how much I've already shaped." Savage said and Druce glared at him, though Savage was right. They couldn't kill him or erase him from the timeline in any way without risking all of history coming undone.

"Why are you so obsessed with keeping the timeline the way it is?" Savage asked.

"We do not seek to control time to our own ends, our role is to ensure that the timeline remains intact and in doing so, making sure that humanity survives." Druce said.

"Then why do you care if I was trying to kill those hawks?" Savage asked, though he knew that Druce was deluding himself. All they cared about was power, but unlike him, they deluded themselves into thinking that their cause was something noble.

"Because they don't belong in this timeline. I don't know how they got here, but they're not the only ones or the only problem. Somehow the 21st century is becoming immune to the Oculus. We can't control it anymore. That's the other reason we pulled you out. Until we can find a way to stabilize our control of the timelines, we cannot risk anyone taking you out before you can lead humanity against the Thanagarian invasion." Druce said.

"How sure are you that it will still happen?" Savage asked.

"Every calculation we've run on the new timeline confirmed that the invasion will still happen." Druce said.

"Not that it will matter if I can't replenish my energy." Savage reminded him.

"And we think we found our solution that will both keep you busy and allow you to increase your power." Druce said.

"How so?" Savage asked, interested.

"The Hawks you attempted to kill are not from this reality and we've determined that the only explanation is that the multiverse has been accessed earlier than we expected. But across the multiverse, there are countless versions of Khufu and Chay-Ara for you to slaughter. You can travel the multiverse and increase your power and also discover more technology to help you establish your power so that when you return, you'll be more than ready to prepare for the threat of the Thanagarians." Druce said.

"I admit, I'm intrigued, but how would I travel the multiverse?" Savage asked as Druce opened his cell.

"Follow me." Druce said as he led Savage out of the cellblock and into one of the hangars to reveal a time sphere.

"A time sphere?" Savage asked.

"One that we've modified for your use. In addition to using the temporal zone to travel through time, you can now use the sphere to use the zone to travel through the multiverse as well." Druce said.

"Why not a time ship?" Savage asked.

"We can't be too conspicuous. Besides, we don't exactly have any to modify, since when the Captains went rogue, they took nearly every ship we had and the ones we still have need to remain in this universe." Druce said.

"I suppose it will do for now." Savage said, since he was sure that he'd be able to find something that would be a bit more suitable to his needs during his travels.

After Druce showed Savage how to switch the time sphere's travel systems from chronal to universal, he watched as Savage opened the multiversal breach and flew the time sphere into it and into another universe.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? What if he doesn't come back?" Declan asked Druce as he approached his superior.

"I've already reached out to a source on Pliny X19. I believe that the resident there should be able to solve all our problems." Druce said and now Declan understood.

"You don't expect him to come back do you?" Declan asked.

"Nor do we need him too. I'm going to head to Pliny X19 to discuss everything. I want a location on Hunter and his fellow traitors by the time I return." Druce said as he headed to his own personal time craft to head into the time stream.

Notes:

Don't worry, Savage will return eventually, but this is just set up for something much larger later on in this series that I will not be spoiling. Feel free to guess though.

Chapter 26

Summary:

Druce picks up his order and Rip takes advantage of an opportunity.

Chapter Text

When Druce arrived on PlinyX19, he found his contact waiting for him.

"Is it done?" Druce asked as one of the most brilliant minds in history, a man who simply called himself Bishop, approached him.

"Yes and I appreciate you sending me all that data about the subject beforehand. It made it much easier for me to properly replicate him." Bishop said.

"And you made the necessary adjustments?" Druce asked.

"Thanks to the mnemonic archive you gave me, yes. I was able to make the necessary adjustments. This new and improved version of Vandal Savage will now play out his story, exactly the way he's supposed to. No more deviating from your rules." Bishop said.

"And you solved his little mortality problem I trust?" Druce asked.

"Of course. Though I admit, it did require a little creativity even I didn't know I possessed, but it worked." Bishop said.

"And that would be?" Druce asked.

"I tampered with his DNA a bit with some desirable traits from Thanagarians and previous DNA samples of Hawkman and Hawkgirl that you provided me with earlier, I was able to modify his cells so that his immortality will be maintained without needing to kill them every few centuries. Quite ingenious if I do say so myself and of course, I do." Bishop said and Druce rolled his eyes.

"And he has no idea he's not the real Savage?" Druce asked.

"Not as long as you don't turn him on before you return him to his natural place on the timeline. Otherwise, he'll get suspicious. However, since you asked for an exact replica, that means that he also has the same physical weaknesses as before. You just need to hope that no one he fights ever discovers that. Though with the Hawks removed from the timeline, that shouldn't be a problem." Bishop said.

"Good. In that case, you'll receive your money and we'll go our separate ways. Though I can't help but notice some of your newer experiments." Druce said, looking over the plans of DNA structures he saw on Bishop's computers.

"What can I say, this little endeavor inspired me. Don't worry, right now this is all theoretical, since it'll take me a while to work out all the bugs and kinks, since what those plans are go way beyond what I did for Mr. Savage. Speaking of which, here's his on button and you can use it to update his mental programming in case you decide to add any further tweaks. His entire life story is loaded into his subconscious, so he'll play it out perfectly. Though it helps that his destiny was premade." Bishop said and Druce nodded.

"As promised, you've earned immunity from our prying as long as you don't disrupt the flow of time." Druce said.

"Good. And who knows, maybe my work will someday benefit you. But for now, give me my money, take your package and please leave me to my work." Bishop said and Druce nodded, thinking about how the only reason he hadn't conscripted Bishop to work with the Time Masters was because of the impact he had on history. He was risking the timeline enough by doing this, but it was necessary. Which was why he went over to the stasis pod that contained the Savage clone as he headed to his ship and headed back into the temporal zone to begin the trip to first plant this Savage clone back into the timeline before he returned to the Vanishing Point to coordinate the attack against their rogue captains.

Rip Hunter grinned from the bridge of the cloaked Acheron, grateful that Sara had transmitted the schematics for the upgraded cloaking tech that the Waverider had to protect it from the time masters and the oculus, as he watched Druce enter his ship.

"Do we have a visual on Druce?" Eve Baxter asked him.

"Yep. I don't know why he'd leave the safety of the Vanishing Point, but it will be his downfall. The moment his ship enters the temporal zone, we take him out." Rip said and she nodded.

"Gilbert, do you have a lock on Druce's time ship's signature?" Eve asked.

"Yes captain and I'm bringing the weapons systems online now as we speak." Gilbert said.

"Excellent. Also, send a signal to the Waverider. Hopefully they'll be ready to rendezvous with us." Rip said.

"Right away sir." Gilbert said as they watched Druce's ship enter the temporal zone.

"Do you have a lock on target?" Eve asked.

"Waiting on your command." Gilbert said.

"Fire." Rip said as the Acheron fired every missile and laser onboard at Druce's ship and hit him dead on, sending his ship crashing out of the temporal zone.

"Track that ship. We need to make sure that we can secure Druce and whatever it was he was transporting." Rip said.

"Assuming they survived the crash." Eve said, though agreed that they needed to sanitize the crash site to prevent anyone from discovering the tech.

Chapter 27

Summary:

Rip informs Sara of their new prisoners, Mick offers an intriguing idea and Sara asks Rip for a big favor.

Chapter Text

"We got your message. What's going on?" Sara asked Rip over the video call feed.

"I know that it's ahead of schedule, but we saw an opportunity to get insider information on the Time Masters and we took it." Rip said.

"What kind of opportunity?" Sara asked, wondering what it could've possibly been.

"See for yourself." Rip said as he moved out of the way to reveal both Time Master Druce and Vandal Savage inside the Acheron's holding cell.

"Okay, that's a good opportunity. I'm surprised that he was willing to leave his precious Vanishing Point when there's a full on rebellion going on." Sara said.

"He wouldn't. Especially not to remove his precious Vandal Savage from the timeline. Not without a reason." Rip said.

"Any luck with interrogation?" Sara asked.

"Considering he's the one who trained us in interrogations, no. Besides, I doubt he'd say anything useful anyways. Just his usual nonsense about how he's doing what's best for the best timeline." Rip said.

"More than likely." Sara said as Rory joined them.

"Well then, why don't we give him a taste of his own medicine." Mick said while drinking a beer.

"Meaning?" Sara asked, interested in Mick's idea.

"We do to him what he and his cronies did to me to turn me into Chronos." Mick said and Sara grinned.

"Sometimes I forget that you're more than just muscle. Despite your best efforts to kill it, you do have a brain in there. Somewhere." Sara said and instead of flying off the handle like he would've when they first met, now Mick just chuckled.

"Don't tell anyone else, it'll ruin my rep." Mick said.

"Done. But I think that's a good idea. We use Druce's own methods against him and turn him into our bitch and use him to infiltrate the Vanishing Point. Plus then he'll tell us all the information we need to know kind of willingly." Sara said.

"What about Savage?" Rip asked.

"Put him back into the timeline for now. Once we've taken the Vanishing Point, then he can become a priority. Besides, the heroes of our time can handle him." Sara said, since she had to admit, something about Savage's presence seemed off, but she had more important things to worry about right now than some warlord who was doing all this just because he got rejected a few centuries ago. Honestly, compared to the things she's seen since Rip first recruited her, Savage was very low level and honestly, a little pathetic.

"Copy that." Rip said, since he agreed with that, since Miranda and Jonas were now safe from Savage.

"So, what do we do now?" Mick asked.

"We continue the plan. We find a location in our time period to establish our base, since every captain we've talked to has confirmed Gideon's report that the entire 21st century is a temporal blindspot, the Time Masters can't detect anything going on in it anymore. Once we do that, we can start planning our attacks on the Time Masters. Especially after we turn Druce into our puppet."  Sara said.

"Copy understood." Rip said.

"Wherever we set up shop, there's access to beer." Mick said.

"That's what time couriers and the fabricators are for." Sara said.

"There needs to be bars nearby." Mick maintained and Sara rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry, there will be." Sara said and Mick nodded as he walked away.

"One last thing, Rip." Sara said.

"What is it?" Rip asked.

"Are you an ordained wedding minister in the 21st century?" Sara asked.

"Why?" Rip asked.

"Because Ava and I talked about it and we want you to be the one to perform our wedding ceremony, since you're the only reason we know each other in the first place." Sara said and Rip chuckled.

"Yes, I have to admit, when I recruited Ava, I had a feeling that when you two inevitably met, you'd either try to kill each other or end up sleeping together." Rip said and Sara chuckled.

"We ended up doing both in that exact order. You have to admit, Ava didn't exactly make the best first impression." Sara said.

"Why do you think I let her spend so much time chasing after the Legends. I was hoping it would help her loosen up a bit. Even after she sent me to prison." Rip said.

"You deserved that and you know it. But anyways, will you perform our wedding ceremony?" Sara asked.

"I'd be honored. Let me know when you have more details." Rip said and Sara nodded.

"Let's focus on ending this war first, since I want to make sure that the Time Masters won't cause anymore problems before I walk down the aisle, even if I will be wearing white before the wedding." Sara said.

"I'll send the signal to the other captains to rendezvous with you and work on reprogramming Druce's mind and dropping Savage back off in history." Rip said and Sara nodded as the transmission ended.

Chapter 28

Summary:

Sara learns more about what Druce was doing away from the Vanishing Point and hears from her sister.

Chapter Text

When Sara time couriered aboard the Acheron, she had to admit, she took way too much pleasure in seeing Druce restrained to a chair in the medical bay with a cognitive intrusion device strapped to his head.

"How's it going?" Sara asked Rip, who was smirking at this even more than she was.

"About 70 percent complete. Soon, any sense of free will he had will be gone and he'll become a slave like everyone else he so callously controlled from his high and mighty perch at the vanishing point." Rip said and Sara smirked.

"Good. Where's his ship? I want Ray, Jax, Behrad and Adrianna to clone its system log so that we can get some idea about what Druce was doing away from the safety of the Vanishing Point?" Sara asked.

"It's being used to escort Savage back to the timeline. Based on what we've been able to put together, it sounds like Savage himself was starting to stray too much from the timeline he was supposed to, so they brought him in for reconditioning." Rip said and Sara actually laughed.

"So best guess is that Druce was personally escorting Savage back to the timeline to make sure that their changes stuck." Sara said.

"Yes and I see you find the irony of the so-called master of time now nothing more than a slave to the time masters as amusing as I do." Rip said and Sara nodded, right as her temporal communicator, which she kept on her at all times, just like Stein had after he'd invented them back when he'd been on the team while his daughter was pregnant, Sara had promised both her family and herself that she'd work harder to keep in touch with her family.

"A temporal communicator?" Rip asked.

"So I can keep in touch with my dad and sister back home, since one of my biggest regrets was that I didn't work harder to stay in touch with both of them before they died and I promised myself that I wouldn't let that happen again this time. Now if you'll excuse me." Sara said as she took the call to find her sister calling.

"Hi Sara." Laurel said happily.

"Hey Laurel, what's going on?" Sara asked, not caring that she was technically in the middle of a war, she cared about her family more.

"Any chance you and Ava can come home for dinner tonight. We're doing a big family thing, both sides of mine and Ollie's family at the Queen Mansion, literally the only member of the family won't be there is mom. Emiko's back from wherever the hell she's been, Thea's coming in from San Francisco and of course, Felicity will be there and she's bringing her girlfriend with her, so I expect you to bring your fiance." Laurel said.

"Just give me a time and date and we'll be there. Gotta love time travel. What's going on?" Sara asked, knowing that her sister was clearly still keeping something secret from her.

"You'll find out when you get here." Laurel said as she gave Sara the time and date she needed to portal to.

"Great. I'll see you then. Good luck doing whatever you're doing." Laurel said as she hung up.

"What was that about?" Rip asked.

"Either she or Felicity are engaged or, and this one is more likely, she's pregnant." Sara said with a smile.

"And if she is, I'm assuming that you're going to be using time travel to spoil your niece or nephew with presents from other time periods?" Rip asked with a smile.

"Like you never did it for Jonas." Sara said.

"I'm not denying it and as long as nothing you take is significant to history, I'll look the other way. Mainly because I know it's pointless to talk you out of something like that." Rip said.

"Good, you're smarter than I thought. Now, I need to go tell Ava that we're going to dinner tonight and I need you to help Gideon babysit the rest of the Legends." Sara said and Rip nodded.

"Understood." Rip said.

Chapter 29

Summary:

Sara comes up with a risky plan to aid in the war against the Time Masters.

Chapter Text

When Sara and Ava returned to the Waverider, they found Rip waiting for them, along with the rest of the Legends.

"What's going on?" Sara asked.

"Druce just arrived at the Vanishing Point and he's just completed his first mission." Rip said.

"And that would be?" Sara asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He's sending us the access codes to the Vanishing Point, including the deactivation codes for their defense systems." Rip said with a smirk.

"And you trust that the codes are authentic?" Sara asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He's under mind control, he doesn't have a choice." Rip said.

"And clearly you have not been paying attention, since we're the Legends. Things never go that smoothly for us. Frankly if they did, I'd be concerned." Sara said.

"You think the codes aren't genuine?" Rip asked.

"I think that the Time Masters have to have protocols in place to prevent anyone without any authorization from receiving them." Sara said.

"If they do, they're unknown to me." Rip said.

"Exactly. Because you're not a member of the Time Council and you clearly didn't think to check Druce's mind for information like that. We can't be certain that the Time Masters won't detect what you did to him and undo it. I refuse to make any plans based solely on his intel." Sara said.

"So, what would you recommend?" Rip asked.

"We're going to do what every army does in war when they want to attack an enemy base. They do recon." Sara said.

"Wow, Sara, are you sure you never served in the military, because you sound like a four star general." Behrad asked and Sara chuckled.

"Ra's al Ghul taught me a few things about tactics and taking down enemies larger than myself. Not to mention one of the first things I learned about war is never trust information from the enemy. Always verify the intel yourself to prevent things from becoming unpleasant." Sara said.

"Wise words. What do you suggest? The Vanishing Point's security is too good for any attempt at stealthily slipping in by timeship and if these codes are duds, we'll be wiped out." Rip said.

"The key words there being time ships. Do the time masters know about Time Couriers?" Sara asked.

"The only people who know about them are on this ship. Not even Captain Baxter or the other rebels know about them." Rip said.

"And can the couriers get us into the Vanishing Point, since it does exist outside of time." Sara asked.

"Technically, the Vanishing Point does exist on the timeline, just at the very end of it, which means that yes, the couriers can access it, what are you suggesting?" Rip asked.

"We use the time couriers to bypass the external defenses and perform a stealth only recon mission of the Vanishing Point. We raid the computers, ensure that we have actual access codes, make sure Druce isn't playing us and identify key points to launch our attack. It's the best way to launch this war." Sara said.

"Sounds risky and I do not want to become a widow before we even walk down the aisle." Ava said and Sara sighed.

"You won't. This will be a stealth mission made up of myself, Rip, Snart, Ray and Nora, since Rip has inside knowledge, Snart and I both have experience in sneaking into places we shouldn't be in, Nora's magic can come in handy and Ray has the tech expertise needed." Sara said.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" Ava asked as she pulled Sara aside.

"What's wrong?" Sara asked her.

"Sara, this plan sounds very risky and I don't like the idea of you going without me. If this goes wrong, I'd end up being a widow before we even walk down the aisle." Ava said.

"Then you're really not going to like this." Sara said as she told Ava her plan for after they got into the Vanishing Point.

"No way, Sara, it's too dangerous." Ava said.

"And you know this is our best shot. I don't like it either, but like it or not, we are in a war and that means we have to take risks like this. We need every advantage we can get and if this works, it'll be a huge one." Sara said.

"And if it doesn't, we'll lose one of our current advantages and I could lose you." Ava said.

"You think I would consider this if I wasn't sure that it would work." Sara asked.

"It's too much of a risk, especially when we already have Druce inside." Ava said.

"And you know that we can't just depend on him. And if something does go wrong, I know that we have a failsafe." Sara said as she told Ava what it is.

"You really think that will work?" Ava asked.

"I think that it's something that the time masters have always underestimated, which means it's our best bet. But don't tell the others until after it happens. And I need you here running point on the mission." Sara said.

"I guess we don't really have a choice do we?" Ava asked.

"If we did, we wouldn't be doing this. But I need to know that you trust me to come home to you." Sara said.

"You know I do. But I swear, if you die, I will have Constantine bring you back just so I can kill you myself." Ava said and Sara rolled her eyes at that.

"Deal, now come on, we need to plan this mission." Sara said and Ava nodded as they returned to the bridge.

Chapter 30

Summary:

The Legends prepare for their upcoming missions.

Chapter Text

After spending a few more hours going over the plan, though, Sara still hadn't told anyone but Ava about her secret mission during the planning session, since she knew they'd try to talk her out of it, since it was very risky and she could tell that Ava still wasn't happy about it, but Sara knew that her plan was their best option to avoid anyone on their side getting killed.

"I still think this plan is risky." Ava said, speaking about Sara's secret plan, not that the others knew that.

"I know, but we don't have a choice. This mission is way too important, since we can't launch a war blindly." Sara said.

"Just remember, it's not only our wedding you need to worry about, in case you've forgotten, you're gonna be an aunt in 9 months and I'm not going to be the one to tell your dad or your sister why you died before you get to meet your new niece or nephew." Ava said.

"Wait, Laurel's pregnant?" Ray asked Sara, who nodded.

"Yeah, that was unexpected, but not unwelcome and I swear if any of you do anything to jeopardize the existence of that kid, your place in the timeline will become much less secure when I remove you from it myself." Sara threatened, making it clear to the Legends that messing with her family in any way, but particularly this way, would not end well for them.

"Don't worry, we won't do anything that messes with your family. None of us have that much of a death wish." Ray said, since they all knew that Sara was not kidding.

"Yeah, now let's go over our infiltration plan again. We've already agreed to enter the Vanishing Point at different locations to avoid drawing attention. Rip, you and Gideon have already determined the ideal locations." Sara said and Rip nodded.

"Yes. Sara, you will enter the Vanishing Point near the Oculus Wellspring, Dr. Palmer and I will emerge near the data core to begin establishing a link to the omnimatrix mainframe that we can use to access the system from here. Mr. Snart and Mr. Rory, who's decided to tag along, will portal out near the time council chamber to establish bugs there so we can keep better tabs on the time council and finally, Ms. Darhk will portal out near the hangar to sabotage any attempts at following us should we be discovered." Rip said.

"I still think this plan is way too risky and we're risking too many key players." Ava said.

"I selected the people with the best stealth skills, since Rip and Mick both know the layout, Snart and I are both highly trained in stealth, me from my time with the League and Snart from being a thief, Ray's suit allows him to get by without being detected and Nora's magic can conceal her. Though hopefully our disguises will hold up." Sara said, since she, Rip, Snart, Rory and Nora were dressed as guards in the Vanishing Point while Ray was wearing his suit.

"Wait, what if the time masters are monitoring our communications?" Ava now asked.

"That's a good point. Considering everything that's happened, we need to consider the possibility that the time masters are monitoring all internal and external communications from the Vanishing Point." Sara admitted.

"That's why Gideon, Jax and I rigged up a special communication frequency that the time masters shouldn't be able to detect." Ray assured them.

"Let's hope it works. Especially since I have a different mission in mind for the rest of the team." Sara said.

"And that would be?" Nate asked.

"Taking the Pilgrim out of play." Sara said.

"Who's the Pilgrim?" Behrad asked.

"The Time Masters' most elite assassin and sadly, one of the few followers we couldn't recruit, since she's too loyal to them." Rip said.

"Her objective is to kill a time criminal by killing their younger selves. She nearly erased the OGs from the timeline back when we first formed." Sara said.

"So now you want us to hunt her." Nate asked.

"We can't leave her unaccounted for." Sara said and the others nodded.

"I still want to run point on the recon mission, Nate can lead the others on this." Ava said.

"Ava, I know you're worried, but I need you to focus on leading the Pilgrim mission, since you're just as skilled as I am, which means that you're the best one to lead the team through it. Especially since I need Adrianna and Behrad to find a way to bypass the Pilgrim's chronokinesis so we stand a chance against her." Sara said.

"They should head back to the 21st century and see if Grey can help them out." Jax said and Sara nodded in agreement.

"Do it. Now let's get moving." Sara said.

Chapter 31

Summary:

Sara makes a few changes to the plan for the better.

Chapter Text

While the team was preparing, Sara heard Adrianna enter her and Ava's shared quarters.

"Adrianna, what's going on? You don't look dressed for the Pilgrim mission." Sara said.

"That's because I think my skills would be put to better use on the Vanishing Point mission, since accessing the Vanishing Point's mainframe, that's more a hacking job and that's more my area of expertise than Ray's and I think that Ray would be of more use here with his suit's weapons against the Pilgrim, not to mention, building whatever tech they come up with to counter her. Not to mention, thanks to my memories of living in a dystopian future, I have serious stealth skills and decent tech knowledge." Adrianna said, reminding Sara that Adrianna was the counterpart of Zari 1.0 from the old reality.

"I keep forgetting that in addition to the life you lived in this reality, you're also probably the only hacker who can truly give Felicity Smoak a challenge and I agree, it probably would be better if you and Ray switched missions." Sara said, since as she thought about it, she wished that she'd thought about bringing Adriana on the mission would mean there was a way that she could abort her secret one, which would definitely make Ava happy.

"Gideon, call a team meeting, there's been a change of plans." Sara said.

"Right away Captain." Gideon said.

"What's going on about this change of plans? Kind of late in the game for that right?" Snart asked as the Legends gathered on the bridge.

"Adrianna gave me a better idea. Ray, you're staying here on the ship to assist in the Pilgrim mission, since your suit and tech skills are better suited for that while Adrianna will take your place at the Vanishing Point, since this does require her hacking skills. Once there, Rip will lead her to the main data core so that she can hack in and give us remote access to the security system and establish surveillance and get any other relevant information, including the Pilgrim's file. If our tech geniuses are going to find a way to counter her powers, we need to know everything there is to know about them." Sara said.

"What about the rest of us?" Snart asked.

"You and Mick will go to the hangar and pull off the same maneuver we did in the old reality and disable any remaining time ships they still have." Sara said.

"And what are you going to do?" Ava asked her fiance, hoping this meant that Sara would abandon her crazy idea to let herself be captured.

"Nora and I are going to check out the Oculus, figure out the best way to shut it down without blowing it and Vanishing Point up so that when we do launch our attack, we'll be able to shut it down easily." Sara said.

"And what about your crazy plan?" Ava asked.

"What is she talking about?" Rip asked Sara.

"I was originally thinking about letting myself be captured and put through the hunter induction process like Mick was to have an inside man, since I don't trust Druce's programming to have held up, but I think that this way is better that won't require a wookiee gambit." Sara said.

"Good, because we can't do this without you Cap." Nate said.

"While I can see the logic behind that strategy, it's ill advised, since you'd also risk letting the Time Masters into your head and tipping them off. There's too much important information in your head to risk letting them get it." Rip reminded Sara.

"Fair point. And it's not worth the risk now that Adrianna's provided me with a better, safer alternative." Sara said.

"Now I feel better about this mission and Gideon, once they leave, start scanning the timeline for any trace of the Pilgrim or her ship, since I have a feeling that she's already been deployed into the timeline to hunt us all down." Ava said.

"Right away Captain Sharpe." Gideon said, since Sara and Ava had already agreed to share the title of captain.

"Okay then, let's get going. Gideon, upload the coordinates to our couriers and make sure our comms are set up to the proper frequency." Sara said as Ray gave Adrianna the commset he was going to use, but clearly would not need anymore.

"Done." Gideon said, since by now, Sara, Rip, Mick, Snart, Adrianna and Nora were all dressed as guards at the Vanishing Point and Sara, Rip and Mick each opened a portal to different parts of the citadel before taking their respective partners and walking through them, the doors closing behind them.

Chapter 32

Summary:

The Legends begin their infiltration of the Vanishing Point and Sara and Nora make a surprise discovery about the Oculus.

Chapter Text

"Okay, here we are." Sara said as she and Nora exited a time courier portal into the Oculus Wellspring.

"Why do I feel like we drew the short straw?" Nora asked Sara.

"Because this place is probably the most highly secure section of the Vanishing Point, since it's the Time Master's most valued asset. Which is why you need to cast a glamor spell on us, since I get the feeling that our uniforms won't be enough to fool security here." Sara said, since they were both dressed like Time Council guards.

"I got something even better." Nora said as she muttered the same kind of gibberish Sara remembered Constantine often saying when he performed his magic and suddenly they both turned invisible.

"Invisibility spell. Nice." Sara said approvingly.

"Yeah, but one thing." Nora said as she cast another spell and suddenly they could see each other again.

"What happened?" Sara asked, wondering why Nora lifted the spell.

"I just made it so we could see each other. To everyone else, we're still invisible. It's better to make sure that we won't lose track of each other." Nora explained.

"Fair point." Sara agreed as they headed towards the entrance to the Oculus Wellspring, but Sara was surprised at what they saw, since the Oculus definitely looked different than it had the last time she was here and she didn't just mean it because it was intact.

"What is it?" Nora asked.

"The first time I was here, the Oculus looked like a giant machine. Not like this." Sara said, since it was still on a round platform in the middle of the room, all she could see was a bright golden light.

"Yeah, I can sense something magical inside there." Nora agreed.

"Come on, let's see if we can get a better look at it." Sara said and Nora nodded as they moved to get closer to whatever the Oculus was in this reality, since the time masters had clearly employed something magical for it this time.

"Something about this feels familiar." Nora said as she could sense a familiar magical aura in the center of whatever the new Oculus was.

"What do you mean?" Sara asked.

"I don't know, but something about whatever is running that device is familiar to me, I just don't know why." Nora said.

"Well, hopefully when we get closer, you can find out why." Sara said as she put her hand over her eyes to block the bright light.

"Yeah, let's hope." Nora agreed.

At the same time as this was happening, Rip and Adrianna were in the main server room of the Vanishing Point, where Adrianna was hacking her way through the firewalls into the system.

"How much longer?" Rip asked as he kept guard.

"I'm going as fast as I can without tripping any security alarms, since if the time masters realize that I'm trying to access the system, the entire mission is blown. We need to do this subtly so they don't know we're in the system." Adrianna told him.

"Okay, but still." Rip said.

"I know. I'm working as fast as I can while keeping the system blind to what I'm doing." Adrianna said.

"I know, but it's only a matter of time until they realize what we did to the guards." Rip said, referring to the guards who'd been killed when they arrived.

"Would you like to do this yourself?" Adrianna asked him, annoyed.

"No, you're the computer specialist." Rip said quickly.

"Then stop bitching and let me work." Adrianna said to him, giving him a look that clearly read shut up.

Back at the Oculus, Sara and Nora had finally managed to make their way to the center platform and when they saw the Oculus had become, Nora realized why the magical signature had been so familiar.

Because it belonged to one of them, since sitting restrained in the center of the platform was one of their missing Legends, Charlie and it looked like she was being forced to power the Oculus somehow, which didn't make any sense to Sara or Nora, since Charlie was just a shapeshifter. It didn't make any sense about how they were using her to control time, but they'd figure that out later.

"What are they doing to her?" Sara asked.

"I don't know, but chances are Charlie wasn't entirely honest with us about who and what she is." Nora said.

"We'll figure that out when we rescue her. But we can't do that now. No matter how much I don't want to leave her behind, if we try unplugging her, we'll blow our cover." Sara said and Nora nodded, though it was clear that neither of them really wanted to do that.

Chapter 33

Summary:

The Legends debrief after their recon mission to the Vanishing Point.

Chapter Text

After the scouting team returned to the Waverider, Sara was surprised to find an additional person waiting for them.

"Gideon?" Sara asked, since she recognized Gideon's human form from her little trip inside Rip's head.

"Indeed Captain Lance. Mr. Tarazi, Mr. Jackson and Dr. Palmer decided that I was due for an upgrade of sorts. I must say, I do prefer this form to just being a talking head. Even if the face lift Ms. Tarazi gave me the old timeline as a nice upgrade." Gideon said and Sara smiled, not even bothering to hide the fact that she was checking Gideon's hologram form out, since she was hot.

"You're lucky Gideon's a hologram and an AI, no matter how advanced she is, or else I'd be jealous that you're checking out a woman who's not your fiance." Ava said with a chuckle.

"I don't think you're one to judge Captain Sharpe, since if I recall, didn't you offer some rather interesting ideas for modifying my hologram form?" Gideon asked with a smirk as Ava blushed.

"I'm gonna need that list later. But for now, Nora and I have some news regarding how our mission went at the Vanishing Point. But first, what about the rest of you?" Sara asked.

"Piece of cake. Snart and I were able to plant the devices on all the remaining time ships without being detected, not that there were many left." Mick said before Snart could say anything.

"I expected as much. Rip, Adrianna?" Sara asked.

"See for yourself." Adrianna said as she typed a few things in the console before Gideon suddenly spasmed.

"Gideon, are you okay?" Jax asked her.

"Yes, apologies, my system was just updating itself from Dr. Tarazi activating the malware link she planted in the Vanishing Point's systems. I'm now completely linked to their system and they have no idea." Gideon confirmed.

"Good, then bring up surveillance footage of the Oculus. What Nora and I discovered is something that needs to be seen to be believed." Sara said.

"Right away Captain." Gideon said as an image appeared and Ava, Mick, Nate, Adrianna, Behrad and Ray all looked shocked by what they saw, though it wasn't quite as significant to Rip, Jax or Snart.

"Is that Charlie?" Ray asked.

"Yep. It looks like they're using her to somehow power the Oculus, which means that she likely didn't tell us the truth about who or what she is when we recruited her." Sara said.

"I'm sorry, can we back please back up a bit. Who is this Charlie person and while I'm concerned that they're using her to power the Oculus, I'd like to know why she's so significant to you." Rip said.

"Right, I forgot that she's after your time. Remember our crazy plan to free Mallus from his prison so we could kill him?" Sara asked.

"Considering the fact that I sacrificed my life because of that, yes, I remember." Rip said.

"Well, Mallus wasn't the only thing being held in that prison and when we opened the cage, everyone inside it got out. Including Charlie. But she wasn't truly dangerous, just misunderstood. Constantine made her mortal, but not before she shape shifted into Amaya to guilt us into not sending her to Hell. After that, she joined the team to serve as our consultant with the creatures and she also helped us realize that not all of them are evil, which is why we are going to look into ways to let the good ones out without letting the bad ones out." Sara said.

"Whatever it was I felt when I got close to Charlie, that was way more powerful than just a shapeshifter. I don't know what it was, but it was old and powerful. Like nothing I've ever felt before." Nora said.

"More powerful than your father?" Sara asked.

"Makes him look like a carnival magician. I don't know what she is, but whatever it is, the Time Masters are using her to power the Oculus." Nora said.

"Which makes taking it out a bit more complicated." Ray said.

"Someone else is handling that job this time, I'm not doing it again." Snart said quickly.

"No one's asking you to. Geek team, I want you guys to go over the schematics of the Oculus that we now have and determine the best way to disable it that won't set off an explosion that destroys the entire facility. Nora, I want you to go through your research on magical creatures, see if you can figure out what the hell Charlie really is so that we can have a better idea of what we're dealing with, while the rest of us starting using these schematics to prepare our attack on the time masters to take them out, since we're getting close to the end game now. For once, we're actually going to make sure this is done right instead of just rushing in blindly and hoping everything works out, we need to get this right." Sara said and they all nodded, since this wasn't some escapade or mission, but this was a war and wars had to be taken seriously.

"I agree. We need to make sure that we plan this out right." Ava agreed with her fiance.

"Okay guys, let's get to work." Sara said.

The Legends learn the truth about Charlie.

Chapter Text

"Nate, can I help you with something?" Nora asked the man who should've been the best man at their wedding approached her.

"I was wondering if you needed any help with research, since that's always been more my speed than what the others are doing and something tells me you could use an extra hand going through all the information you have and as your husband once said, research is kind of like my second super power." Nate said and Nora smiled.

"I can't deny that would be helpful, though you don't exactly know enough about magical creatures to help." Nora said.

"I helped John out with his research back when we were hunting monsters. Also, I'm surprised that we haven't looped him in yet." Nate said.

"I asked Sara about that. But she felt that my experience in this reality covered his, plus I fit in better with the team than he did, especially since I'm not that stupid fairy godmother anymore." Nora said.

"I thought that you were starting to like that gig?" Nate asked.

"That was back when I'd spent my childhood growing up in a demon cult." Nora reminded him.

"Fair point. But still, I feel like I'd better be better suited for library duty rather than going over tech schematics or battle plans." Nate said.

"That much I agree on and I could use an assistant. You sure your girlfriend won't get jealous?" Nora asked her.

"As sure as you are that your husband won't be." Nate said and Nora nodded.

"Ray and Adrianna are both techies, so while they're working together, it makes sense that we do too." Nora said.

"So, am I in?" Nate asked.

"Yeah, come on." Nora said.

"Why aren't we heading to your room?" Nate asked.

"Because I keep it somewhere else." Nora said as she walked over to one of the storage room doors.

"Check this out." Nora smirked as she placed her hand on the door, causing it to glow a gold color before it opened to reveal a huge cabin-like building.

"What is this place?" Nate asked as he looked around, once again in awe of magic.

"A little something my mentor Natalie Logue taught me. I based it off the cabin she basically raised me in after she took me in. And I keep a lot more than just books here. Downstairs I basically have a zoo of magical creatures that I keep here to protect from the outside world, since they're a lot like the creatures stuffed in Malice's prison with him. It's basically a more humane version of what the Time Bureau was doing, since thanks to magic, even enclosure simulates each creature's natural environment. It keeps them safe and happy and over time, they forget that they're even captured. It keeps them safe from people like Constantine would just assume is a threat and send to hell." Nora said.

"Does Ray know about this place?" Nate asked.

"Who do you think tried to name the creatures like zoo animals?" Nora asked with a smile.

"Okay, let's get to work. The sooner we find out what the hell Charlie really is, the sooner we can rescue her." Nate said and Nora nodded, right as she noticed one of her artifacts glowing.

"No, it can't be." Nora said as she rushed over to it.

"What is that?" Nate asked.

"It's one of the most powerful artifacts I keep in here that I stole from my father. It's one of three pieces of the loom of fate." Nora said as she showed Nate a glowing gold ring.

"That's a piece of the loom of fate. A ring?" Nate asked.

"I thought you would've learned that looks can be deceiving. Based on what I've discovered since I recovered this, one of the fates went rogue and decided to give humanity free will and destroyed it. This ring is the only surviving piece of the loom that anyone's been able to find. And by the way it's reacting, I have an idea on how to find out exactly what Charlie is." Nora said.

"Okay." Nate said, wondering what was going on.

When they arrived in the lab, they found the geek squad hard at work.

"Mind if I borrow Gideon for a second?" Nora asked her husband.

"For what?" Ray asked, seeing the ring in Nora's hand, since while he'd seen it in her collection before, she'd never told him what it was.

"Gideon, access the Vanishing Point's feed of the Oculus and get me an energy reading off Charlie and also scan the energy signature of this ring. I want to see if it's a match." Nora said.

"Right way Ms. Darhk." Gideon said.

"What are you trying to do?" Adrianna asked.

"That ring is a piece of the loom of fate." Nate said.

"And its energy signature is almost identical to the one Charlie is generating to power the Oculus." Gideon said.

"That confirms it. Charlie's a fate and if I had to guess, her real name is Clotho, since from what I've gathered, Clotho was the one who destroyed the loom, plus both of their names start with a C." Nora said.

"Which one is Clotho?" Nate asked and it was his girlfriend who answered that.

"She's the spinner. The youngest of fates and the maker of threads. She was the one who spun out people's life threads." Adrianna said.

"Okay, we are definitely confronting her about not telling us sooner, but for now, let's go let the Captains know." Nate said and Nora nodded.

Chapter 35

Summary:

Snart makes a big decision about his future after the Time Masters are dealt with.

Chapter Text

As the rest of the Legends did their jobs to prepare for the fight that was coming, Snart couldn't help but feel displaced. The Legends had clearly evolved to not need him anymore. Even Sara and Mick, the two people on the crew that he'd been, for lack of a better term, the closest with, had changed and probably more than the others, though the only other Legends he knew were Palmer and Jax, since Nate, Adrianna, Nora and Ava had all joined after he'd died.

Sara had grown from the reckless party girl and out of control assassin he'd originally known into a responsible and disciplined leader and a loving fiance with a woman that she loved more than anything. And the only one who'd changed more than her was Mick. He was the one who'd changed the most. The Mick he'd known most of his life was a wild, unpredictable animal who only lived to watch the world burn. But now, Mick seemed different. The wild animal in him was gone. He still had his obsession with fire, but now it was more controlled, more focused. He seemed more like a human being and while he clearly still had his wild side, now he seemed more willing to follow orders. Or at least depending on who gave him the orders, since while Mick had rarely done anything Rip had said, he followed Sara's orders without question.

Honestly, it felt like all the Legends had changed without him and he didn't really see where he fit in with them anymore. He couldn't help but wonder how much he might've changed if he hadn't died.

"I'm not used to you being so quiet. Even though it's been years, I can still hear your drawing voice making snarky comments every chance you get." Sara said as she walked up to him.

"Sorry, I've been thinking about how much everything's changed since I died. I'm not sure if I still fit in with this crew anymore." Snart said.

"You're not staying with the Legends are you?" Sara asked him knowingly.

"How did you know?" Snart asked.

"Because I'm the captain and it's my job to know and honestly, I've been waiting for you to work up the guts to tell me." Sara said and Snart chuckled.

"You're really not the same Sara I first met back on that rooftop." Snart said and Sara chuckled.

"I had to mature to be a captain." Sara said as Snart caught her looking at Ava.

"Not to mention you can't get married if you're still that rash young woman I used to know." Snart said.

"Yeah, I have to admit, if you'd told me way back when that I'd not only be engaged, but to a former government employee, I'd have said that you were crazy." Sara said.

"Yeah, I still think you are crazy for getting married." Snart said.

"Some of us find people worth growing up for. After all, we can't stay kids forever. Especially considering how many people on this ship still have to grow up." Sara said with a chuckle.

"Mick's already grown up a hell of a lot." Snart noted and Sara nodded.

"He's changed a lot. After you died, he struggled for a while before he finally found acceptance with the Legends and truly became one of us." Sara said.

"And how many times did he betray you?" Snart asked, knowing his partner well.

"I've lost track, but he's come a long way since then. He's one of my most trusted friends and a very valued member of the Legends." Sara said.

"Damn, I never thought I'd see the day that Mick Rory no longer wanted to see the world burn." Snart said.

"I think he realized that if the world burned, there'd be nothing left for him to steal from it." Sara said.

"Probably." Snart agreed.

"So, are you leaving now?" Sara asked and Snart shook his head.

"No, I'm a man of my word, so I'll stick around until the Time Masters are no longer an issue, but after that, I think I'm gonna leave to figure things out for myself." Snart said and Sara nodded.

"I get it. We've all had times where we needed to step away." Sara said.

"But you realize that I'm likely not coming back after that." Snart said and Sara nodded.

"I know. When you originally joined the team, we needed you and you felt needed. But now you've kind of lost your place. It's the same reason Rip's staying with the other Time Masters. He knows that while he'll always be a Legend, he doesn't exactly have a role now that he's no longer the captain." Sara said.

"Please tell me things go better with you in charge?" Snart asked and Sara grinned.

"Well, we definitely do things differently now, since we do things team style instead of letting Rip plan everything out." Sara said.

"I do want to hear stories before I go." Snart said and Sara nodded.

"And you'll get them. But I am glad that this time around we'll be able to accomplish what the Legends were originally formed for." Sara said.

"Saving Rip's wife and son." Snart said, since the one thing he'd always respected about Rip was his dedication to his family.

"Yeah. Something we couldn't do in the old timeline because of the Time Masters, but now they've already relocated to a secure location that only Rip knows for their safety." Sara said.

"Good." Snart said.

"Now, stop sulking and let's get to work. Oh, and I don't care what you're doing, you're still attending my wedding, Legend or not, since I've already told Rip and Stein the same thing." Sara said, making it clear that was not up for discussion.

"Aye, aye Captain." Snart said as he and Sara got back to work.

Chapter 36: Up for Adoption

Chapter Text

I know I said I wouldn't do this again, but I am, since honestly, after nearly two years, I don't think this series is going anywhere, despite my claims otherwise, so since I'm sure someone is interested, consider this series up for adoption, reach me on any site this story is on to discuss. I have an idea for a new series in the works that I've started planning, but do not know when I'm going to post it, since this one will be a little different than my previous works and hopefully that will be a good thing. And also hopefully by the time I get the new series up, Fanfiction will be sending email notifications again. Thank you for your patience with me and I hope that my new series will be worth the wait and any possible frustrations.
