Fired

Summary:

Whose daughter is this and why is she trying to fire Kai and you over chatting at work?

Work Text:

You were talking to Kai, when a child came over to boss him around.

“What are you doing?” Her shrill voice asked, causing you to raise an eyebrow at the tone she used with him.

“I-I’m chatting with Miss Y/n here.”

You did not understand why Kai was so scared of her but you noticed his fidgety fingers and the crack in his voice.

“Stop talking to her and get to work!!”

“He does not have to,” you interjected.

Her face was the epitome of appalled. Kai nervously shifted his eyes but did not dare to move. You crossed your arms with a hint of a smirk on your lips.

“How dare you?! I’m telling daddy on you. You are fired once he gets word of this!!”

“I’d love to see you try, love.”

You watched as she ran off yelling for her father. You wondered if Mister Kim really played along with this. As you waited, Kai tried to say something but you held your hand up to stop him from doing so. Instead, your hand went up to ruffle his hair and play with it. He stayed seated while closing his eyes to enjoy the short-lived comfort.

As the young girl returned, she had a triumphant smile while her father looked nervously at me.

“Daddy, you should fire them both! They were not doing their jobs and were just chatting.”

“Darling, I can’t do that,” her father tried to reason with her but it only resulted in a frown on her face.

She stomped her foot, “why not? You always fired people who don’t do their jobs. You always tell me how good I am at finding people who don’t do their jobs!!”

“Yes, my love and you did a wonderful job but this is the head’s daughter. She has more power than daddy. She can fire daddy whenever,” he laughed as he rubbed his sweaty hands together.

The girl was flabbergasted. She did not know your identity and now she had put her dad in the danger zone of being fired.

You released the tension in your expression with a boisterous laugh. Your arms wrapped around Kai’s neck as you muffled your laughter with his body.

“Mister Kim has never actually fired anyone, if that’s what you were wondering,” Kai explained to you and you nodded your head in reply.

“Mister Kim, please return to your position. Take your daughter along with you and give her a praise, she’s working hard for this company. Just a bit too strict. Sweetheart, learn to be a bit lenient, alright? Maybe there will be a position for you here in this company in the future.”

The little girl, despite adorning a bright blush on her cheeks, nodded her head and saluted you before following her father back to his office. Kai sighed while you frowned.

"Why were you so scared of a little girl?"

"I-I was not!"

"Suuuuure, love," you pecked his cheek, "whatever you say."
