It’s Warm Here

Summary:

Leo’s been trapped in the Prison Dimension longer than what his brother thought. When they save him Leo’s not the same brother they once knew. Will he ever get his memories back?

HEYO WASSUP!
This was a really random idea I had like rn and don’t know how it’ll play out so join me for the ride!
I don’t have a schedule, so pls be patient with updates, plus I got finals soon.

Chapter 1: 1

It’s cold.

 

He feels nothing.

 

He’s been floating in this place for who knows what now. Just floating, waiting for something.

 

…aaawrrrr…

 

A rawr in the distance captures his ears. The only sound he can hear in this endless void. He knows what he was waiting for.

 

“There you are you are you little pest.”

 

Leonardo shudders at the voice that’s creeping ever closer.He can feel the dread in his stomach. Fear takes over him.

 

He instincts tell him to move but he doesn’t. He’s done this countless times before, what difference would it make this time?

 

He prepares himself, he knows it will hurt a shell lot.

 

“~Found You~”

 

The krang sings as he snatches Leo in one hand, bringing him to his face.

 

“You’ve floated long enough. Time for some fun..”

 

A strike to the head. And then another, and another….another…another.

 

AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!

 

PAIN ITS ALL HES KNOWN.

 

It’s hours, days, maybe minutes or even mere seconds. Who knows how long he takes a beating until finally the Krang leaves him to float once again.

 

This time his floating isn’t as peaceful. It’s silent again, no metal, only the sound of his wheezes as he try’s to breathe in any air.

 

He tries to take a breath. He needs air. He can’t breathe.

 

This is bad. He’s hyperventilating now.

 

HE CANT BREATHE

 

He tries, he really does. But the longer he tries to breathe the more he can feel this sleepiness taking over him, until he can’t fight it no more.

 

He’s sleeps the pain away. Like hes done countless times before. But something stirs in his stomach. A familiar feeling from before. Before this endless void. A colorful place, he just can’t remember.

 

The cold he so used to by now is suddenly replaced by a warm orange light.

 

…This is it….finally…

 

He turns his body facing the light. A smile on his face. He can see three blurry figures standing and staring at him with smiles on their faces. He tries to give a smile back to them.

 

“Took you long enough…”

 

The red blur reaches out and grabs his arm.

 

Leo is shocked. He hasn’t felt a warm touch in—he doesn’t even remember the last time.

 

…aawrrr…

 

Leo knows that sound too well. His fear comes back full force. He looks behind him the krang only a second away, arms out trying to grab him to keep him here with him evermore.

 

Suddenly the Purple one blasts something at the krang which flings the Krang back giving Red enough time to pull Leo into the warm gold. He looks behind him, staring  into the Krang’s eyes one last time as the Orange one closes the golden gate.

 

He hits the ground, the actual ground. Not floating. There’s gravity here pulling him onto the ground. He never thought he’d feel the floor ever again.

 

Suddenly he realizes what just somewhat happened. He looks to the other colorful three blobs. The Red steps closer first.

 

“Leo…?”

 

“…Hi?…”

 

The three call out his name and bring them all into a big group hug.

 

Leo is very confused. He feels a weird warmth inside himself, warmth is a very foreign feeling to him.

 

He clears his throat and the three release the hug. Orange takes his hand in his and looks at him with tears in his eyes.

 

“Leo you dumb dumb! You scared us! Don’t you ever do anything like that ever again! I-…I’m glad your back big bro..”

 

Leo doesn’t know what to say to the orange stranger so he just nods his head. Then Purple speaks up.

 

“As much as I want to yell at you we need to get you checked up. You look like a mess.”

 

The three start to stand and wait for Leo to get up. It takes a lot of effort but he is able to stand miraculously. He tries to take a step forward but after not using his legs for how long, plus the lightheadedness he feels and he falls forward.

 

Red is quick to take him into his arms.

 

“Woah there big guy. Take it easy.”

 

Red notices immediately that something is wrong.

 

“DON QUICK SOMETHINGS WRONG!”

 

Purple—no Don?— yells something back but Leo can’t hear it, the sleep is pulling him back in and he closes his eyes to rest. He hopes this wasn’t a dream.

 

He likes the warmth…

Chapter 2: 2

Summary:

Leo’s awake!
But where is he? And who are these people?

Notes:

HIIIII!! SORRY THIS UPDATE TOOK FOREVER! I had lost motivation after the first chapter then I had finals, then Christmas but now I had time to write!

Something soft covers Leo. He hasn’t felt anything this soft in a long time. He feels like he’s sleeping on a cloud on a nice sunny day. It’s so warm.

 

“Please wake up soon….”

 

A voice?

 

Who…?

 

Am I asleep?

 

Leo feels the heavy weight on his eyelids. The pull of sleep at the back of his mind. He wants so badly to stay dreaming on the warm cloud but he fears of his surroundings. What if the Krang is near and he’s unprepared for an attack.

 

Slowly he pries one eye open. Then the other. White light blinds him making him flutter his eyes until he becomes used to the white light.

 

With clear sight he sees a white ceiling above him. He looks to his right. He seems to be in a medical room. It looks very familiar.

 

Has he been here before..?

 

He feels something shift next to him. He looks down his right side. It’s Orange just like the dream he had. Was it a dream?

 

Orange is holding a small box, mindlessly staring at it. Leo tries to get his attention by clearing his throught but it only results in a coughing fit.

 

Orange immediately gets up to look Leo over until he realizes.

 

“Leo..?”

 

Leo locks eyes with orange. He tilts his head as if to ask a question.

 

“OH MY GOD LEO! Y-YOU’RE AWAKE! I’m SO HAPPY!” OH MI GOSH I HAVE TO GET THE OTHERS! RAPH! DONNIE! EVERYONE COME QUICK!”

 

It’s not long after more people barge into the medical room.

 

“WHAT HAPPENED?!”

 

Purple-no Don or is it Donnie?- yells as he rushes in to Leo’s and Orange’s side. He opens his mouth to ask more until he also makes eye contact with Leo.

 

“Y-YOUR AWAKE!”

 

Another Red one is the first to make it to his side.

 

“LEO! Do you know how worried I was?!”

 

Before he could even answer Red’s question a small rat takes his hand and looks Leo in his eyes with a sorrow look in his eyes.

 

“My son….I am very proud of you..but please never do anything like that again…”

 

Those words feel like they should hold a very powerful meaning only to leave Leo even more confused. He nodes his head to everyone in the room.

 

“How do you feel Leo? You haven’t said anything yet.”

 

Don asks with a worry but suspicious look.

 

Leo realizes that they’re all waiting for him to reply. He clears his throught, successfully this time, and prepares to answer the question.

What does he say? Does he even remember how to speak? The only things he’d ever let leave his mouth were the screams of pain and begging for an end.

 

Leo opens his mouth, lips trembling as he speaks.

 

“w……w..h..o…?”

 

“Speak louder my son.”

 

“…who…are….you….where…?”

 

Four letters.

A victory for Leo who thought he’d only get one word out but to the rest, those four words just left a giant hole in their hearts.

Chapter 3: 3

Summary:

Mikey’s POV to Leo waking up!

Notes:

HEYO IM BACK! HOPE YALL HAD A GOOD CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS!! AND IF U DIDNT CELEBRATE THEN I HOPE U HAD A GOOD WEEK! IF U DIDNT THEN MAYBE THIS NEW CHAPT WILL CHEER YOU UP😊

Mikey sits in a chair next to Leo’s bedside in the med-room. It’s been a whole week since he was able to open a portal to save his big brother.

 

A week and nothing from Leo.

 

Donnie suspects Leo my fall into a deeper coma if he doesn’t show any signs within the next 24 hours. If he goes into the coma he may never wake up.

 

Mikey take Leo hand in his. He lays his head down to touch their hands with his forehead.

 

“Please wake up soon Leo…” Mikey pleads to the air.

 

“I miss you…we all do…Donnie’s locked himself in his room while Raph tries to force him out. He acts like he’s fine but I know he’s not. None of us are….I don’t think we’ll ever be the same….but if you wake up I know we’ll all be okay….”

 

Mikey reaches to his phone with his unoccupied hand. He mindlessly scrolls not paying attention to whatever he’s watching but more so focusing on the sounds of Leo’s small sound of Leo’s chest rising and falling.

 

After however long Mikey was scrolling he felt something in his other hand.

 

The smallest twitch of a finger and then a cough.

 

He drops his phone to the bad and stands, looking at Leo surprised. It was so sudden. One moment he was so still you would probably think he was a corpse to suddenly sitting upright coughing up a fit.

 

“LEO!”

 

Mikey immediately stands to help his big brother. He holds Leo’s back helping him sit up. Mikey scans Leo’s for any more injuries but he’s not a medic. He doesn’t now what to look for.

 

Leo’s fit slows down to a halt and then Leo’s slowly scans his surroundings and finally looks into Mikey’s eyes.

 

Looking into Leo’s eyes made Mikey’s mind realize what was happening finally.

 

“OH MY GOD LEO! Y-YOU’RE AWAKE! I’M SO HAPPY!” OH MI GOSH I HAVE TO GET THE OTHERS! RAPH! DONNIE! EVERYONE COME QUICK!”

 

It’s was only mere seconds before everyone rushed into the med-room. Donnie being the first as his room was second closest, Leo’s being the first.

 

“WHAT HAPPENED MIKEY?!”

 

Donnie yells as he rushes to Mikey’s and Leo’s side already in medic mode ready to save his big brothers life again only to pause at the sight of his big brother awake.

 

Then Raph rushes in to all three sides, his fear stink filling the room. Raph immediately notices that Leo is awake and is the first to speak.

 

“LEO! DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS!”

 

Leo opens his mouth to reply until Splinter enters the room. Leo’s doesn’t notice him until he takes Leo’s hand in his. Leo pauses whatever he was going to say to look at his dad.

 

“My son….I am very proud of you..but please never do anything like that again…”

 

Mikey expects Leo to cry at their fathers rare words but he seems…confused?

 

Mikey waits for his brother, he hasn’t said anything since waking. Everyone waits for Leo. Leo’s seems sluggish as he took a while to realize everyone was waiting for him to say something.

 

Leo’s clears his throat and opens his mouth hesitating.

 

Mikey waits with anticipation for one of Leo’s classic one liners that will make everyone cringe but laugh anyway because they’re all so happy to be a whole family again.

 

At least that’s how Mikey wished it played out…

 

“w……w..h..o…?” Leo whispers so quietly that even a mouse wouldn’t be able to hear it.

 

“Speak louder my son.” Splinter asks.

 

“…who…are….you….where…?” Leo asks confused.

 

At those four letters Mikey feels his whole world crumble.

 

Before he can even process what Leo’s just said he can already feel the silent tears fall from his eyes.

 

Everyone on the room is shocked. They all expected one of Leo’s one liners and wasn’t ready for those four letters. The room falls silent as everyone processes what Leo said.

 

Leo wiggles uncomfortably under everyone’s silent stares.

 

With more confidence he speaks up louder and asks that terrifying questions.

 

“Sorry, but where is this? And who are all of you?…”

 

Mikey can’t take this.

 

He rushes out the room.

 

Past his room.

 

Into the sewer.

 

To an alley

 

To his favorite rooftop.

 

His heaven one would call it.

 

When things got tough he’d spend time on this rooftop to clear himself of anything negative.

 

He’s positive Mikey! He can’t have those negative thoughts.

 

Mikey reaches the edge of the roof.

Mikey stares out into the beautiful view of New York City. The moon bright in the sky overlooking the city that never sleeps.

 

Horns blare below him. The wind rushes.

 

Up on the roof where no one will hear him.

 

And he lets go and cries.

 

His sobs tear through his body so hard he kneels to the floor.

 

He cries for his brother. All the time he’s spent with Leo were some of his best memories.

 

He’d never tell Leo that he was his favorite. For always making him smile and laugh with his stupid one liners that made him cringe so bad his tummy hurt from laughing at them.

 

For holding him in the night as he cried after the shredder. Crying for their Gram-Gram. They didn’t know her long but she was family and he loved her so much. Leo held him all night, even as his snot ruined Leo’s favorite pajama shirt.

 

He cried and cried and cried…..and cried……

 

……..and cried…..

 

Until he physically couldn’t produce any more tears.

 

Mikey sat atop the ledge thinking.

 

If it was true, if his brother didn’t remember…then maybe he could help him remember!

 

Mikey cheered up thinking of all the ways he could help his big bro.

 

Leo’s was always the light for Mikey.

 

Now it’s Mikey’s turn.

Chapter 4: 4

Summary:

Back to Leo P.O.V!

Notes:

YA NEW CHAPTER! I think this chapter isn’t as angsty as the last one. I WANT MORE FLUFF. or at least not too much angst.
(I say when all I read is angst) ANYWAYS HOPE U LIKE THIS ONE!

Leo watches as the Orange one backs away, then runs out of the room. He feels strangely mad at himself for upsetting the orange one.

 

As much as he wants to chase after him he can’t feel his legs and is stuck to the bed. Red looks to the purple—Don, who nods at Red, then Red takes off after the orange.

 

Leo is very confused.

 

What was this colorful bright place with so many new people! Or creatures?

 

Something cold is handed to Leo who jumps at the cold touch— even though he is very used to the cold — and see a cup with a liquid.

 

Leo looked at the glass with a furrow in his brow.

 

“Drink it. When was the last time you drank something?” Dan asks.

 

Leo just tilts his head to the side confused. He looks down to the drink, swirls it around, brings it up to his nose and sniffs it.

 

It doesn’t seem harmful . He takes a lick from the cup.

 

The small drops of cool water go down seamlessly. He doesn’t like that cold feeling of it going down his throat that it sends chills down his spine. But yet it’s oddly soothing at the same time.

 

A new feeling takes over Leo and disregards be careful to instead chug the small glass of liquid which in the end left Leo with a nasty coughing fit.

 

Don helps Leo with his fit by taking the glass and patting Leo on the back. When he’s done coughing he nods his head to Don as thanks who nods back in confirmation.

 

Don walks to the other side of the room and takes out a small bottle from a small door in the wall.

 

He takes off the small cup and lid, then pours the liquid in the small cup and then hands it to Leo.

 

Leo thought this liquid would also settle his new feeling after the other liquid and chugs that down too.

 

Big mistake!

 

He pretends to gag at the bad taste.

 

“BLEH!”

 

“Suck it up Leo. You need to take it to get better! Now…um…” Don starts off with a dead face to being hesitant about something.

 

He takes the chair Orange was on, flips it so the back is in the front and leans on it.

 

“About what you said….? Do…Do….”

 

Don can’t seem to say what he wants to say. Leo leans in a bit to show he’s paying attention so Don could speak his mind.

 

“Do you not remember us…?” Don finally got to courage to ask in the tinniest whisper but Leo could hear it loud and clear.

 

He nods his head to answer his question. Don looks absolutely defeated.

 

“So-So you don’t remember me?….”

 

Again Leo shakes his head yes to Don’s question.

 

“Nothing? Anything at all.”

 

Leo feels weird just nodding so he tries to speak up.

 

“N-Nope!….Well…I-I know m-my name!”

 

“Okay….okay….that’s one thing out of many I suppose….small steps….”

 

Leo’s right hand is taken again by the same hand from earlier. He looks down to see the small rat man thing.

 

Oh…he forgot he was there…

 

“What do you last remember my son?”

 

Son…?

 

“Well,… I was just floating like usual, waiting for the monster to come cause I could hear him in the distance. You know the monster is coming cause he always destroys what ever is in his path which makes a lot of noise. I usually hide but I was still hurt after the last time so I decided to just float. Eventually he caught up and then it’s the same o’l same o’l. Then after that I was floating again when a big light came out of no where and now I’m here!”

 

Leo says a little too excited.

 

Hey, he hasn’t talked his whole time there! Nonetheless to another being! Of course he’s excited!

 

“Wait…what do you mean by the quote, same o’l same o’l, Leo?”

 

“Oh you know! It’s different each time but the monster does like to punch a lot! This time he punched me a bunch! And then he took my by my arm and flew me across the stars and then- SHEWOOOP! A bright light comes outa no where! But the monster catches up again, probably for another punch or something. I don’t really remember what happens after that. Hehe….”

 

Leo laughs it off until he looks at the other two who had liquid coming out of their eyes. Leo doesn’t know why he suddenly has this sinking feeling in his chest, like he did something wrong.

 

“Hey! Why is their liquid coming out your eyes!?”

 

“H-How long…?” Don sniffles.

 

“H-huh?” Leo asks

 

“H-How long have you been there?”

 

“OH! I’ve been with the stars for a very long time! I would probably say I’ve been there my whole life! Which isn’t much since I’ve only counted about 730 days but it could’ve been longer since I don’t remember anything past those 730 days.”

 

“730!” They both yell in surprise.

 

“Yeah 730 that’s what I said.”

 

“YOUVE BEEN STUCK IN THE PRISON DIMENSION FOR OVER 2 YEARS?!” Don yells in astonishment.

 

“Prison dimension?” Leo asks confused.

 

At that point Don deflates.

 

Leo thinks he probably shouldn’t have brought that up.

 

Why does he feel so bad at hurting their feelings?…

 

Suddenly the door swings open yet again to two other people, not creatures.

 

“WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME LEO WAS AWAKE!” A girl with big puffy pigtails in a green jacket yells as she rushes in heading straight to Leo.

 

A boy wearing ragged clothes quickly follows after her.

 

“Master Leonardo! You’re awake! I knew you would do it! You always pull through in then end!” The boy yells excitedly.

 

Leo winces at the boys volume.

 

“Leo I swear to god if you ever pull a stunt like that again I swear I will take away your most prized possession!”

 

The girl yells at him before pulling him into a hug.

Leo doesn’t hug back.

 

“I’m so glad you’re okay..” She whispers wholeheartedly.

 

“Okayish I’d say!” Leo jokes but the joke wasn’t taken well by the new people in the room.

 

“What! Leo this isn’t the time to joke about that kind of stuff! We all just went through a very traumatic experience! I know jokes is what you use to cope or what ever but still!”

 

The girl yells at him.

 

“Well he’s not wrong… Leo- He…” Don cant  seem to the words out his mouth again.

 

“He’s got memory loss. Very very bad…” The Rat speaks up.

 

The girl brings a hand to her mouth in shock with tears in her eyes as she looks to Leo for confirmation and he nods his head in confirmation to what the rat said.

 

The girl leaps into Leo’s hold again for another hug as she cries into his arms this time.

 

The boy looks very conflicted and shocked. He walks over to Don and in hushed voices they talk to each other before leaving together with the rat following behind.

 

The girl lets go and sits beside him in the bed.

 

“H-How much do you remember?” She asks.

 

“Oh! Well by count it’s about 730 days of memories I’d say!”

 

The girl looks even more shocked this time, tears in her eyes again but this time she doesn’t cry. Instead she does a light smile at Leo.

 

“Well we’ve got a lot of catching up to do now, aye Leo? So let’s start things off right. …..Hi, I’m April O’Neil your best friend and older sister!”

 

April hands him her hand. He looks at it then to April. He takes her hand with a smile as he looks to her.

 

“Leonardo!”

 

He may not remember these people, he may never but now he’ll get to know each and every single one of them in time.

Notes:

YAAAY APRILS HERE DONT WORRY LEO UR BIG SIS IS HERE! Who I would kill to have big sis like April. (When ur the older sibling😭) Should the next chapter focus on Raph and Mikey, Donnie and Casey(which I’m not sure how I’d do that since I don’t know anything medical), or more Leo with April?

Chapter 5

Summary:

More April And Leo!

Notes:

SORRY FOR THE WAIT YALL! I LOST MOTIVATION TO WORK ON IT THEN I COMPLETELY FORGOT ANOUT IT BUT THANKS Eeeee FOR REMINDING ME! So I made this in a rush to post something hope u like it😅 I made this on a car ride to my family during break

“Soooo….where are we?”

 

Leo asks as he settles back into the thing call a ‘bed’ which was so much more comfortable than floating!

 

April takes Don’s seat while she rearranges the chair so the long part supports her back.

 

“What do you mean?”

 

“Well….we’re not floating, it’s so bright and it’s not cold! It so weird! What’s this place called?”

 

“Ahh…well we are on planet earth!”

 

“Planet….Earth….? What is a….planet…?”

 

“Umm how do I explain? I’m no good at science! I’m a journaling major!”

 

Leo laughs at April’s confusion. He doesn’t know why but she makes him feel weird. Ever since he’s woken up he’s felt a weird unsettling feeling but spending time with April makes him feel….he feels….

 

….Safe?….

 

Is that a thing? What does safe even mean?

 

This safeness makes him feel warm.

 

The two continue their informational conversations about planets until three people walk in interrupting them.

 

Then that weird safe and warm feeling goes away. The natural cold taking its rightful place.

 

Leo looks to the newcomers, Don, the rat, and the non-animal male.

 

Actually April is also non-animal he should ask about that. But wouldn’t it be rude? Whatever he’ll think more about it later…

 

“Okay! Me and Casey have been discussing Leo’s diagnosis!”

 

Don exclaims as he makes way for the non-animal, Casey. Casey glances to Leo a pained look in his eyes then quickly turns his attention to April.

 

“From what we discussed Leo physically have multiple broken and fractured bones but all will heal with the proper care. His shell however has had multiple fractures and indents that it has become very sensitive. Me and Don will make a battle shell for Leo to help heal and protect his shell. What’s the most concerning is the brain damage he’s taken. He has a severe concussion and as we now know he also has sever memory loss. The concussion will heal over time but it’s hard to say if his memories would ever…return…”

 

Leo thinks he should be devastated by this news but he doesn’t feel anything.

 

So what he’s got broken bones! When isn’t something broken! He has a concussion? Leo doesn’t know what that means exactly but it sound bad. And the memory loss is still kinda new to him, but he’s already used to this new life so whateves!

 

April on the others hand wasn’t taking the news all to well, Leo could tell.

 

Her smile faltered and her eyes glimmered. But she still tried to keep a small smile on her face. April took a deep breath through her nose and while exhaling she stood up facing  the other three.

 

“At least he’ll be able to heal physically. But for Leo’s memory loss I know there isn’t much we can do….”

 

April then turns to look at Leo.

 

“….But we’ll always love you Leo. No matter what you’re my little brother. We’ll all get through this.”

 

Aprils looks to everyone one the room.

 

Leo then notices that Red and Orange were back as they both stood in the doorway with shinning eyes.

 

“Together as a Family!”

 

Orange exclaims as he walks into the room.

 

“Yeah, well support you through this Leo. Because we all love you.”

 

Red claims as he walks into the room taking a seat next to Leo on the bed.

 

The cold in Leo chest flickers, the warmth settling. He doesn’t know why but he knows he can trust them.

 

These people are his sun.

Chapter 6

Summary:

Family Introductions!

Notes:

YEAAAHHH EARLY CHAPTER UPDATE LESSGOOO!!
Hope yall like this chapter!

The warmth filled Leo's chest. He felt his face change to a weird up-right position.

 

"Heh...Thanks Red!..." Leo replied as he looked up into Red's eyes, which were full of warmth and then confusion.

 

"Uhhh, Red?" He asked pointing to himself.

 

Leo nodded in confirmation.

 

Red looked a little defeated at that information.

 

"It seems introductions are needed if you do not remember our names. I am Splinter....your father...." The rat--Splinter spoke first. 

 

"The name's Raphael, but I mostly go by Raph for short. And um- I'm your big brother..."

 

"I see we're going in numerical numbers. I'm Donatello but you can call me Donnie for short- or whatever little nickname you guys keep making up. I am also your supposed -air quotation- twin -end air quotation-." 

 

"Me next! I'm Michelangelo! Or Mikey for short! I'm your cute little brother!"

 

"Uhh, I guess I'll go too. I'm Casey Jones and I'm your...uhmm...it's uh...complicated- I'll tell you later when you're head's clearer."

 

Leo was happy getting to learn the strangers--no, his family. The warmth was so overwhelming. If you saw his eyes get glassy he'd tell you that it was just the lighting. They all felt so familiar and close. Almost like the stars from his previous "home", they were so close but yet so far away. He thought if he reached far enough he could touch the small light and keep it close but the farther he reached the further it got away. 

 

Leo glanced at everyone in the room, smiling with a love he didn't even know he had.

 

Until he glanced at Casey.

 

He was...strange? Everyone was able to properly introduce themselves....so what was so complicated that he couldn't tell him? 

 

Leo gave him a half-hearted smile not feeling the love the others gave him. Casey seemed uncomfortable by Leo's smile, unsure what to do with that reaction. 

 

"Now that you're up I'm sure you're famished! Let me see what I can make!" Mikey exclaimed as he left the room. Casey turned to watch Mikey leave, then glanced at everyone in the room hesitating, and then turned to follow after Mikey. 

 

"Sooo....what do yall do for fun around here?...." Leo asked.

 

"Well depends on what you're in the mood for lil bro. We could watch a movie, play games, talk, read, and more."

 

"Hmm, the movie sounds interesting! What's that?" Leo asked excitedly.

 

"Movies are moving pictures, like imagine that photo you held onto moving like how we are! That's basically it!" April explained

 

"I'll get the projector and the greatest film in existence," Donnie said as he turned and left the room, not giving any chance of argument. 

 

"Sounds fun!" Leo exclaimed.

 

"I'll get the blankets!" April yelled as she ran out of the room.

 

Raph stood from the bed and faced Leo. Raph gently helped Leo to sit up properly in a comfortable position and then tucked Leo into the blankets. By the time Leo was comfortably tucked in Donnie and April had returned. April's arms were filled with blankets galore and Donnie held just the small projector, plus the DVD. Donnie took a pillow and placed the projector on top, placing the DVD disk inside it. Soon after Mikey and Casey walked in, Casey with an uncomfortable look on his face. 

 

"Here Leo! Chicken soup! Since you can't have solids yet I thought a good soup would be good!" Mikey exclaimed as he place the tray with the bowl on top of Leo's lap. 

 

"Thanks Mikester!" Leo said back and then took a big spoonful of soup.

 

Leo's eyes lit up.

 

"MMMH! MIKEY THIS! THIS IS SO GOOD!" Leo yelled in excitement.

 

"Hehe! Just wait till you can have my even better solid foods!" Mikey replied.

 

"MMH! CANT WAIT!" Leo spilled out as he took spoonfuls of soup into his mouth. 

 

After Leo finished eating the soup (which was fast as Leo basically scarfed that soup down), everyone settled in to watch the movie.

 

The projector on and slowly the title fades in showing, "JUPITER JIM". Leo watches entranced by the film. Leo wanted to watch the whole thing but with a tummy full and warm with love Leo could feel himself drowning with sleepiness.

 

Leo groaned not wanting to sleep and finish the movie. But then he felt something warm rub against his bald head.

 

"Shshsh my son...Sleep now..." A calming voice told him.

 

Comforted by the warmth petting his head, Leo slowly fell into dreamland.

Chapter 7

Summary:

Leo has a bad dream! Who’s shall comfort the baby?

Silence…

 

It’s been 365 days…

 

Leo thinks that should be an important number, but he can’t remember why…

 

Leo sits on a rock, gently floating among the endless starry sky. For once he doesn’t feel the constant anxiety in his chest and instead is-calm? As he watches the stars humming a random tune to himself.

 

All was quiet, until the thunder sounded in the distance. The anxiety coming back full force, knocking Leo to his feet.

 

He stands even though he could barley feel his left leg. After the last beating the monster gave him, his leg was left bent at a weird angle.

 

Leo jumped from the rock onto the closest rock nearby. Continuing to run and jump in an attempt to escape his inevitable future.

 

“Running is futile~”

 

The monster’s voice rings from afar, inching closer every second.

 

Leo jumps to the next rock, only to be caught midair.

 

HES CAUGHT

 

“I caught you~ …. YOU WRETCHED LITTLE PEST!”

 

The monster squeezes Leo so hard he thought he’d pop out of his shell at any moment. Leo can barley breathe as he’s crushed within the monster’s grasp.

 

Suddenly the monster slams him to the ground, the air leaves Leo’s body the instant he hits the ground.

 

He lays there gasping for air, paralyzed.

 

The monster stands menacingly above him. Glaring down at Leo’s pathetic form. A devilish grin on his face as he watches Leo struggle.

 

“Haha watching your withering form pleases me. Seeing as I’m in a good mood today I’ll leave you to your continued struggles. But don’t worry, I will always find you. YOU LITTLE PEST!”

 

The monster leaves Leo in an instant. Instead of relief Leo only feels more anxiety, overwhelming him.

 

He’ll be back…He always comes back…Why me?…What did I do to deserve this?…

 

Leo’s breathing picks up, he struggles to breathe as he lays in the same spot from when the monster slammed him to the floor.

 

The ringing fills his ears, the sound of his heartbeat taking over.

 

HE CANT BREATHE

AIR

 

Leo startles awake, taking in all the air he could get. He coughs from his rude awaking and slowly takes in his surroundings.

 

Right….he’s isn’t there anymore…

 

Something gently touches Leo’s shoulder and Leo startles surprised. He turns to look at who touched him.

 

“Leo are you alright?” Donnie asks

 

Leo stares at Donnie’s face for a moment before realizing he was asked a question. He nods in confirmation before looking at his lap. He takes a deep breath.

 

You’re not there…

 

“You uhh wanna talk about it?…” Donnie asks.

 

Leo thinks about it for a second before settling back into a comfy position.

 

“Sure why not… it’s dumb anyways…”

 

“Leo, nothings dumb about it.”

 

“Mm, alright. It was just a dream when I was with the stars and…and the….the monster..”

 

Donnie’s listens, never interrupting as Leo continues to tell Donnie about his dream/memory.

 

After Leo finishes explaining his dream he looks to Donnie, who didn’t speak the whole time Leo talked.

 

“Leo…I…first, I wanna say I’m sorry, for what you had to go through…..but just know that now you’re safe. You’re finally home with your family and we’ll protect you now. And…I have to tell you this ok?…I love you just so you know…with two really’s”

 

Leos Face feels wet at the end of Donnie’s words. He doesn’t know why the two really’s were import but he can tell just how much Donnie means what he says.

 

He leans into Donnie and hugs him. Donnie unsure for a moment returns the hug. If Leo felt his shoulder wet then he wouldn’t say anything about it, neither would Donnie.

 

The two held each other in comfort until Leo felt himself slipping into dream land again.

 

“Thanks Don-Tron…love ya too…idiot…”

 

With the last words Leo falls asleep. Donnie stills at the familiar nickname.

 

Maybe with enough time and love Leo really would be okay….

One day….
