Chapter Text
There were new students at his college.
Jungkook, honestly, never cared about other students. He cared much more about ignoring all of the rumors and telling all of the other students to fuck off when they came near him.
The new students were different though.
There were two of them. Alphas.
Jungkook shared a couple classes with them and they were weird as all hell.
When they stared at him, he didn't look away and expected them to back off just like everyone else who ran away from him with their tail between their legs. They didn't. They didn't seem threatened by him at all.
It frustrated Jungkook to no end and he wondered if they had something against omegas, like him.
It frustrated him more than Yugyeom did when the other had declared himself as his best friend after weeks of following him around campus despite all of Jungkook's firm barks of, “Fuck off or I'll fuck you up.”
Yugyeom had a thing for him. Always did.
Jungkook blamed it on the fact that he was one of the few omegas at the college. In the city, really.
The city was crowded too, it was a city on the edge of the forest with mountainous views.
They were successful in bringing tourists in with a flimsy history about the mountains, woods, and childish legends, so it was always busy.
His mother said he should be glad to live here. Jungkook wished he would've told her to go fuck herself, but he'd only been a child. Didn't know the words yet, but now that he was on his own, he had no one.
The city was lonely. Jungkook didn't have friends at all despite having lived here from the young age of ten, until now, nineteen.
Still, even Jungkook could find a melancholy beauty to Tan Springs - an ironic name considering the only tan people around were the ones who spent hours in tanning beds turning orange.
The only thing Jungkook really loved was the constant shadow over the town both due to the fog and because of the sky-high trees that bordered everything. It was always green too.
The fog provided the perfect environment for the trees to grow, their trunks covered in moss, branches hanging with an overgrown canopy bed for birds. One step into the forest and one would be tripping over all of the ferns.
If he stepped out of the city even a little bit, it was all forest.
Despite the beauty of the city, he'd still never understand why these two people moved here - especially ones that looked like they belonged in bigger cities, on runways. Like these alphas.
“Babe,” Yugyeom spoke up beside him, making Jungkook scoff.
Jerking his backpack away from the table he was sitting on and tossing it on the floor, Jungkook replied, warningly to the alpha, “Call me babe again and I won't hesitate.”
“Damn. Can't even give me a chance after all our time together? Give me one chance.”
Jungkook ignored him, chewing on a peeling piece of skin on his thumb, staring across the room. An uneasiness settling under his skin. “I'd sooner fuck Mr. Jung than fuck you, let alone go on a date. I don't do dates. You know that.”
“You kissed me-”
“One fucking time. And I was drunk as fuck.”
Jungkook sucked in a breath, his anger was out of control lately. Ever since these starers had gotten here last week, since then it felt like everything had been out of order.
He didn't know if they were a bad thing or a good thing, all he knew was that whatever the fuck was going on frightened the fuck out of him.
Which was not a feeling Jungkook felt often.
“Who are they?” Jungkook asked, leaning back on his hands and ignoring the package of chips Yugyeom offered under his nose and nodding his chin. “The ones staring.”
His friend chomped loudly in his ear. “Who? Mina? She's always staring at us. Still can't decide if she wants to fuck you, or me, or if it's because she wants us kicked out. Or to join her little gossip club.”
Probably both, Jungkook mused, but shook his head, “Not her, the new alphas.”
Yugyeom’s eyes widened a bit, giving a slight laugh and rolling his eyes, “Ah, yeah. The models. Mark hyung told me that they're related to someone who owns WINGS MUSIC," He licked his fingers loudly, “Apparently one of their family members started at the hospital with him. Kim Seokjin, I think?”
Jungkook watched as the one nearest the end began speaking.
Smiles as he internally labeled him although he knew their names. They'd been forced to do that bullshit self introduction to their classmates earlier this week in the music class they all shared before the professor droned on about unimportant things.
It was frustrating how easily they'd talked their way through it, even Jungkook hated standing in front of everyone and talking; especially in college - nobody gave a shit about one another, they just wanted to get through the year without alcohol poisoning.
They seemed like pricks.
Only douchebags stared at an omega the way they did.
That was why Jungkook avoided them like the plague, he'd spotted smiles - Park Jimin - rounding too close to him around the parking lot way too many times.
“Weirdos,” Jungkook huffed, “Anyway, you coming tonight?”
“What? To make cash? Nah. Got shit to do.”
“You'll miss the party. There's a party tonight.”
Yugyeom hummed, fingers brushing Jungkook's when he mirrored him leaning back on one hand, holding the chips out with the other, “Can't. Promised BamBam I'd help him build his bike back up. You're welcome to join - don't go home with a stranger after, alright? Come to mine.”
Jungkook accepted the snacks only because his stomach was killing him from having not eaten yet, but he didn't promise anything. Merely sighed and continued his stare down.
He was going to be damned to be the one looking away first and add more to the stereotype of vulnerable omegas.
The bell for class went off just as Yugyeom was beginning to rant about some sort of game he'd gotten; Jungkook only half paid attention.
Jungkook grumbled under his breath and leaned back to pour the crumbs of the chips down his throat.
“Seriously, dude.” Yugyeom repeated himself, climbing off of the table, “Come to mine. I don't want a repeat of last time.”
Yugyeom was nice. He was too nice to be a friend of Jungkook's.
Honestly, Yugyeom's entire pack was too nice to him. Jungkook was so envious of him for that. Jungkook definitely didn't have the same home life.
Honestly, he wished the alpha would just leave him alone already.
At least then Jungkook wouldn't feel as guilty about the alpha's crush. Although half the time it was teasing, Jungkook knew it wasn't a joke. He'd seen Yugyeom sniffing around him far too long.
And Jungkook definitely couldn't smell a scent coming off of the alpha, which meant they weren't mates.
Huffing, Jungkook slumped off the table, grabbing his backpack and tossing it over his shoulder. Fuck - his shoulder was still fucked up, that was a mistake. It fucking hurt.
“Hi!”
Jungkook startled, jerking back until his calf hit the table and immediately staring down at the other, smiling alpha.
Park Jimin didn't seem this friendly at all when he was staring at him across the room.
Jimin was all bright smiles. A head full of deep brown locks, nearly black. His nose was buttonlike and eyes a deep chocolate. He was, well, beautiful.
Enchantingly so. Frighteningly so.
His skin looked like it was pure porcelain. He looked like he was not real. Some sort of weird dream Jungkook had made up about inhuman alphas. Some sort of model straight out of an airbrushed magazine.
Jimin was holding an apple and tossing it back and forth in his grip without even looking at it; he looked at Jungkook only. “Park Jimin, but you can call me hyung. What's your name?”
Jungkook pulled his eyebrows together. Confused at the sensation that tingled under his skin. He decided to ignore the alpha and walked around him, starting towards the hallway.
Jimin frowned at his back and came after him, as lithe as a dancer and barely even looking where he was going, but so smooth on his feet. He walked beside Jungkook.
“You didn't eat lunch. Here.” Jimin reached out, pressing the apple into Jungkook's chest.
Jungkook felt like he wanted to yell at the alpha for touching him, but that tingling spread up his chest and made his heart skip - he accepted the apple. Maybe he was going to pass out. That must explain all the weird sensations going on.
“Thanks. I guess.”
“So, Jeon-”
“Let's get something straight here.” Jungkook stopped walking, eyes locking on Jimin's and pointing a finger at him, “I don't do the whole friend thing, okay? Thanks for the food, but I'm really not in the mood for company, so I suggest you back off and give me some space. Just because I'm an omega doesn't mean I won't hit you. Trust me, I'll only warn once.”
Jimin blinked at him, utterly unplused about his poorly hidden threat. He raised a brow, “You are really cute, aren't you?”
What the fuck?
First of all, Jungkook didn't know if he was mad or flustered, but he assumed it had to be the first one - Jungkook didn't do flustered.
Jungkook did shameless one night stands. He was the one that so much as grinned at someone and earned a blush, he wasn't the one that did the blushing.
So why the fuck were his ears burning?
Was Jimin fucking with him right now? Really? Everyone knew not to mess with him. Jungkook had the temper of a firecracker. His fuse was incredibly short.
They didn't call him the hot omega because he smelled spiced of cinnamon, it was because he could explode at any moment.
Jungkook didn't know why he couldn't set off the fireworks right now and scream down the hallway until a crowd formed shouting fight fight fight!
He wasn't all that mad after all, strangely.
Jungkook was exasperated though.
“Look, dude,” Jungkook wet his lips, running a hand through his hair, “I'm really not in the mood to do this right now. Can we, like, reschedule this?” He sighed, leaning against the wall of the hallway, “Not that I don't think you're hot….”
He was hot. Jungkook had definitely slept with way less attractive people and for no good reason other than being bored. Right now was really not a good time.
Jimin smirked a bit, lip quirking up.
“But I'm really busy right now, so…”
“That's okay.” Jimin replied instantly, giving a small shrug of his shoulders, “Like I said. My friend and I saw that you didn't eat. You look a little tired. You should eat more.” Then, with a smile, Jimin started walking off. “Be careful, Jungkook.”
Jungkook's mouth dropped. What the hell was that? Fucking weirdo.
Huffing, Jungkook looked around. The hallway was cleared now, everyone had gone to class. Jimin turned the corner and now it was just him.
“Fuck me,” Jungkook whispered, sinking into the wall until he sat on the floor, grimacing as he removed his backpack and rubbed his shoulder.
Then, head falling back against the wall, he took a bite of the apple. His heart was still racing hard in his ears as he stared at the condensation building up on the window across from him.
Then, with the apple up under his nose.
He realized something was strange.
He swore he could smell a tinge of chocolate on the fruit.
Jungkook stiffened up and immediately threw the apple on the floor like he'd been burned, kicking it away.
His nose must be wrong, he didn't smell anything, couldn't have.
An omega could only smell the scent of their mate.
There was no way in hell an alpha like Park Jimin was his mate.
