Chapter Text
Having to leave his home in the forest was not easy for Neteyam. For none of the Sullys actually. Because of the sky people who were hunting his father, they had to leave. The boy knew it was necessary to protect his people, but that didn't mean it was easy. Tuk cried a lot in his mother Neytiri's lap and Kiri looked desolate for abandoning Spider who had been kidnapped.
Neteyam tried to stand his ground. He was the eldest brother, the one who was supposed to become the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya in the future. He should be the example for his younger sibilings. So he stood tall and unsmiling as they left the forest.
It took them a few days flying in their Ikran until they finally reached Pandora's reefs. They saw the island, Awa'atlu as his father had informed him. They landed their Ikran on the edge of the beach, it didn't take long before they were surrounded by other Na'vi. Neteyam thought how different they were, their skin was a turquoise blue, their bodies seemed broader and more robust compared to his people.
'Their bodies have adapted to the water of course'
“Behave yourselves” He heard his father's voice.
He stopped a little behind his father with Loak on his left. Neteyam looked forward seeing two Metkayina boys slowly approaching. They were analyzing them. He signed 'I see you' as a sign of respect as did Lo'ak, but the boys didn't reciprocate. Neteyam widened his eyes a little.
The taller boy glared at Neteyam. He had eyes as blue as the ocean where he lived and his hair was curly and tied in a bun. His body seemed to be soft but at the same time firm to the touch. He was very handsome, despite looking at him and his family with a frown on his face.
“Is that supposed to be a tail? How do they swim with it?” The other boy, who didn't look at Neteyam as much, commented loudly. The duo smirked and Neteyam felt his tail wag a bit in embarrassment. He wasn't used to being analyzed.
A gasp of surprise coming from Lo'ak made Neteyam look away to where his brother's eyes were. A very beautiful Metkayina girl came out of the water with her hair swinging. The girl approached smiling to slap the two who were laughing at them.
“Hey” Lo’ak greeted her with a goofy smile on his face. She laughed sweetly and the boy with the bun got a cruel look.
It took a few seconds for Tonowari, the Olo'eyktan of the Metkayina to appear along with his companion. They looked surprised to see them there. The Metkayina were shocked when their father asked for shelter.
Tsahik, Ronal, was not happy to have them there, so she approached, pointing out their characteristics and how they would be useless in the water. They were very uncomfortable until she saw Lo'ak's hand and screamed that they had demon blood. Neteyam was not at all hopeful that they would be accepted.
Toruk Makto, his father, showed them his hand, pointing out that he too was once part of the sky people, but that he was now one of them and he only wanted to protect his family. To their surprise, in a quick exchange of glances between the Olo'eyktan and the Tsahik, they were allowed to stay.
"My son Ao'nung and my daughter Tsireya will teach your children our ways" The Na'vi pointed to the pretty girl who charmed Lo'ak and the tall boy who judged them with his eyes.
'The name suits him'
“But dad—” He didn't seem excited about the idea.
"It's already decided" The Olo'eyktan raised his hand to silence his son. Quickly Tsireya approached with a huge smile covering her face.
“Come, I'll show you your Marui” They removed their belongings from the backs of their Ikran and followed Metkayina. The other, Ao'nung kept his gaze locked on Neteyam though he still looked with distaste at his brother Lo'ak.
Tuk was skipping along the path between each of the Marui. Neteyam smiled at the scene, at least Tuk looked a little more resigned. They arrived quickly at the cocoon where they would live. Neytiri dropped her luggage with disgust in her eyes. She was the most against the idea of leaving their home in the forest.
“Tomorrow morning we can start our classes, you can organize for today” Tsireya's sweet voice reached his ears. Neteyam and his brothers nodded their heads “Until tomorrow” Despite speaking to everyone, Metkayina's eyes were glazed over Lo'ak's who looked equally mesmerized.
Neteyam chuckled upon noticing this and Kiri snorted still in displeasure. When they finished putting their things away as they could, their father signaled the floor with his hand.
“Sullys, meeting” They sat down in front of Jake who took a deep breath “We are outsiders here, so do your best to learn as quickly as possible and not get in trouble” The last sentence was clearly meant for Lo'ak.
Neteyam laughed and pinched his brother's neck and Lo'ak hissed at him. It didn't take long for everyone to lie down and sleep. The trip had been tiring and they needed to be well rested for classes the next day. Neteyam slept with the eyes of a certain Metkayina in his mind.
