But was he yours if he wanted me so bad?

Summary:

So at that moment, in those small seconds of sparks passing through the air, the question was thrown into the room.

Work Text:

The glasses drooped slightly from the upturned nose, but Sasuke didn't seem to mind the slight annoyance. His black eyes remained glued to the contents of the History book on Ancient Egypt; the tests approached in a surreal way and the Uchiha even knowing that he had the whole book memorized in his head, insisted on reading at least one more time about the dynasty of the Pharaohs. He needed to occupy his mind somehow or he'd freak out.

A long sigh left his lips and he allowed himself to give his brain a break for a few minutes when he read for the thirteenth time the sentence: "located on the Nile River"

"What am I doing with my life?" The question came out of his throat with certain indignation and urgency. His back came into contact with the upholstery of the chair, making his head bob up. Orbs of it captured the dorm's white ceiling without necessarily focusing anywhere. This time, what came out of his lips wasn't a weary sigh but a growl. He hated his current situation. It was all so confusing and so clear at the same time. He closed his eyes tightly.

He hated adolescence and its hormones. It looked like a tasteless combo from the Gods.

"Daydreaming, Teme?" His curses against the Gods had to be slightly interrupted when his roommate's voice reached his ears. The main cause of your internal chaos will just arrive in the enclosure coming towards you. He needed to get some sort of alarm that would let him know when Naruto Uzumaki got within 100 meters of him, so he'd have time to freak out beforehand.

It was an excellent idea.

He would jot down in his mental notebook the next inventions which should be created by man as a top priority.

"Since when do you know how to use the word ‘Daydreaming' Dobe?" Recruited with mockery, even though his tone hadn't changed much. He didn't need to turn the chair at the desk to confirm the face of outrage that Naruto would be making behind him.

“Do you want to make fun of me? I'm the student-body president, bastard”Uzumaki replied pouting. His cheeks puffed out, highlighting his birthmarks, and he crossed his arms. Sasuke finally swiveled his chair to match his movements, and soon the blonde smirked. The brunette never resisted his charm for long – which could also be mistaken for childish tantrums.

"You are the president because your grandma is the director and your father owns the school, your daddy's boy" The Uchiha had a gift of irritating and calming Naruto in a way that was not written in ancient or contemporary history.

And Sasuke knew that very well.

"What it was? Has the fearful kitten lost its tongue?" The Uchiha continued and the Uzumaki's feet moved until they were facing him. The tanned arms rested on the back of the chair, making the blonde's body lean dangerously. Sasuke couldn't see the pair of sapphires because the other still insisted on keeping his head down in a situation like this. So the golden threads were the only thing his black orbs could capture. The Uchiha caught his breath and his shoulders tightened as his companion's head settled on his neck. Naruto's hot breath inhibited him like a drug – even though the only drug he knew was his morning coffee.

This was definitely heaven that tasted like hell.

"I'm so tired teme" Those words were enough to make Sasuke's breathing return to normal and his shoulders relax. Now he knew perfectly well what his current circumstances were.

Naruto Uzumaki was known to be the son of Minato and Kushina, not by his name. He was known for being the future of Namikaze companies, not for being a seventeen-year-old boy. He was known for being the boyfriend of Hinata of the Hyuga clan and grandson of the headmistress, not for being the president. He was charged to be perfect, not to be human.

"I just wanted to be like you" The blonde vented. His voice was muffled due to his position, however, he didn't seem to care, totally unlike his best friend. Sasuke tried to focus on the other's suffering and not on the pink lips that touched his sensitive neck with every word Uzumaki's voice uttered.

"You don't want to be me, Dobe" He muttered against his will  "You just want to be recognized for what you are" He stroked the golden hair softly, trying somehow to convey confidence in his words.

"And one day I will be?"

"Recognized? But what a stupid question" He gave his cocky little smirk which the other hated, as much as Naruto couldn't see it from his current position, it was a vicious habit "I already recognized you as the number one blockhead, isn't that enough?"

The Uzumaki rested his head on the other's neck to get a better view of the other's pale face. Sasuke didn't look away from those sapphire orbs, there could be chaos inside him, and he would never stop staring into the abyss. However, if the abyss was the eyes of the sea, the dazzling smile was the icing on the cake for his total destruction.

"Maybe that's enough"

Hinata Hyuuga.

Two words, eleven letters, and just one girl.

The girl who owned Naruto Uzumaki beside her.

Sasuke watched Hyuga from afar, in the first row of chairs. The long hair combo together with the light eyes, made the boys wish they were beside her singing love cries, thrown at her feet. In a way, he understood why there was so much fuss over Hinata. She had struggled to get to where she was, even with her position of privilege in the Hyuga clan, she had faced problems and solved them in ways far too wise for a poor teenager.

However, it wasn't because he understood her point of view that he liked her. Respect and worship were completely different things.

He decided to go back to his reading in the History book and follow his study routine. Just like the brunette, he also had a legacy to carry.

Sasuke Uchiha.

Two words, twelve letters, and just one boy.

The prodigy boy of the Uchihas and a boy who didn't have Naruto Uzumaki by his side.

It was ironic to think that, theoretically, he was supposed to have all the people and things he wanted. After all, who didn't want Sasuke Uchiha? It might sound a little narcissistic, but he knew his qualities – the girls in his clandestine fan club loved to spread his great advantages to the winds throughout the school. He was handsome, thanks to some miraculous genetics passed down from generation to generation, he was smart and…

It wasn't such an extensive list. However, his two qualities were good enough, everyone agrees, right?

The urge to slam his face into the desk with overwhelming force and scream out of pure hatred seemed to increase every time he had the same thoughts again. What was his problem? Was it so hard for your core to accept an “ It's not possible for you to be with Naruto, get over it and have a great day”?

God, he didn't even know if his best friend liked boys; and even if he did, who is to say that he would like you? That he would separate from Hyuga? Things weren't quite as simple as that. The only place where love solves all problems was in fictional stories created by fans because even in your romance novels, love wasn't solving everything.

He kept saying that Naruto was the number one airhead in his life, but it seemed that the tables had turned.

He turned his life upside down.

It was decided. He was going to put an end to his feelings once and for all. The classroom didn't seem to be a very suitable place for the decision just made, but it was fine for now.

It was great. Perfect.

So why wouldn't Uzumaki collaborate?

Sasuke felt he was being watched. At first, he ignored it; she was probably just another girl without an ounce of self-respect behind getting even a modicum of attention from him. However, the uncomfortable feeling continued.

He discreetly moved his black hair, tucking one of the strands behind the ear. He felt his silver earrings brush lightly against his fingers. His strategy of showing minor discomfort seemed to have no effect. He adjusted his reading glasses already starting to get irritated with the current situation.

Every human being with the basics of socializing should know that moving your hair followed by adjusting your glasses meant: “I can feel some being watching me, could this stop watching me and let me read the blessed history book in peace? ”

Apparently, there were still humans living in prehistoric times.

His attention was stolen for a moment when Hinata decided to leave the classroom to attend to something not so important for the student council. He waited for Naruto to appear in his field of vision accompanying his partner like a good student council president and exemplary boyfriend, however, he did not appear.

He frowned, tilting his head slightly to the side. Hyuga was clearly waiting for her boyfriend at the door, in that case...

In that case...

Why were the blue orbs eating him?

His mysterious observer – not so mysterious now – carries a cheeky smile on his lips, while his sapphire eyes seemed to be mesmerized by his probable astonished face. He swallowed hard at this unexpected realization. Naruto definitely wanted to wipe out the rest of his mental health.

Hinata crossed the classroom at an enviable speed to reach her partner, with firm and calculated steps, never losing the traditional grace and lightness of the Hyuga. Naruto didn't seem to mind the act and continued to look at him with a smile plastered on his face. The Uchiha was clearly wondering what the point of it all was.

"I think a little more that you are enough"  That's what Naruto wrote in his notebook and showed it to himself before Hyuga reached and dragged him out of the room. However, the pearly orbs collided with Uchiha's stormy black eyes before fully leaving the room.

So at that moment, in those small seconds of sparks passing through the air, the question was thrown into the room.

“Someone told me stay away from things that aren't yours

But was he yours, if he wanted me so bad?”

Perhaps he would fight a little longer for his heaven that tasted like hell.

"Hinata, I really don't know where he could be." Sasuke took a deep breath, wondering once again why his life was in complete chaos.

He was pretty sure the answer started with "Naru" and ended with "to".

"Thanks for your time, Sasuke-kun"  The Hyuga bowed before turning her back to the dorm door and disappearing down the hall. When the black eyes saw Hyuga reach the end of the hall, a sigh of relief escaped his lips and he closed the door slowly, with a childish fear that if he closed it too quickly, Hinata would see his lie and come back ready to kill him.

"You can come out of the closet, Dobe."

"Thanks, Sas! You saved my life!" Naruto's warm arms encircled his body without his consent. The Uchiha could feel the Uzumaki's relief from miles away. The panting breath hit his neck, along with the blond strands touching his shoulder and the warm hands touching his back in a grip that was not good for his health.

"How long do you intend to hide from her?" The Uzumaki arms lost their spirit with the severe questioning that had escaped his throat, but they did not leave his body, making the fingers of feverish hands descend in a torturous rhythm down his back to the meeting of his waist. Uchiha wondered more and more why Naruto loved doing this to himself.

Was Uzumaki a sadist? Did that make him a masochist?

"I want to break up with her" The blue eyes stared intensely at the darkness which was his best friend's orbs while he affirmed his decision with conviction. However, the brunette's distrustful and judgmental gaze left him unsettled enough to look away and feel like a small grain of sand facing the storm "Stop looking at me with those eyebrows, you can be scarier than Sakura-chan."

"It's not my fault, I was taught that when you hear a lie, don't go along with it," Sasuke replied sarcastically, making Naruto frown at the comment. If the Uchiha had been in a good mood, he probably would have made some sour joke about the blonde looking like his dog Kurama with those eyes almost closed.

"I'm not lying 'dattebayo!" He started with more determination "I'm going to break up with Hinata!"

"Then why are you running away from her, dobe?" Sasuke wasn't the least bit afraid of pointing out the truths, in fact, he even felt a certain pleasure in making that happy and determined face turn into a sulky face of a spoiled five-year-old child at an incredible speed  "What was 'dattebayo? Have you lost your tongue? Or was it just courage?" If Madara was seeing him now, he would probably congratulate him for getting it, besides mocking the damn “dattebayo”, calling Uzumaki a coward.

Madara would love also to make fun of you for being in love with a dumbass.

"Are you calling me a coward!?" Naruto finally took his hands from the other's waist to place them over his own in a pose of extreme indignation. In response, the owner of the onyx eyes crossed his arms and did what the Uzumaki hated the most in his entire being: he curved his reddened lips into a sneer "You know I hate that stupid smile, you disgraced teme! Stop it!"

"Oh, and what will the great Naruto Uzumaki do? Hide in the closet again? "

"You..."

Uzumaki didn't complete the sentence with words, but with his impulsive actions typical of his misfit family. Naruto was still too close, so he had no trouble pulling one of Sasuke's arms away. Naruto's initial plan was that he had no plan, his instincts always wanted a lame excuse to touch pale skin for no good reason. So when his face got too close, invading the personal space established by the Uchiha in their early days as roommates, the Uzumaki had the awe of seeing the sea of black that Sasuke carried in his gaze stir.

"Naruto, what are you doing?" The questioning had no hint of irritation or hatred, just the purest whispered despair. The Uchiha was holding his breath as if his life depended on it, he was aware that if his breathing was mixed with the Uzumaki's panting, his self-control would be on the verge of breaking down.

"I'm going to break up with Hinata" The blue eyes sparkled with confidence as he repeated the statement in a low tone once more "I like her but-"

"You don't like her" Oh, it was there. The irritation and hatred typical of his best friend, hatred has always been the traditional fuel of the Uchiha family. If Naruto wasn't in a rather dangerous situation, he would surely make some joke about the death glare or the bulging vein in the pale forehead  "What is it? Did I disturb your sentimental speech?"

Sasuke tried to release his arm from the other's grip, however, the exact opposite happened. The grip on his arm was exchanged for his waist. Their hips bumped roughly, causing the Uchiha to bite his bottom lip in an attempt to suppress any obscene sound. Naruto actually looked serious and even angry at the interruption.

It was just what was needed. He who had his arm being squeezed by warm fingers, marking his skin so white with shades of red, he who was being subjected to inhaling the other's mesmerizing aroma, appreciating the starry sky of the orbs so blue and he who was feeling his paradise with the taste of hell about to bite into the forbidden fruit with those plump lips so close to yours and who got a little mad in the story? Naruto Uzumaki.

It was the cumulus.

"You are enough for me" The president continued as if he had never been interrupted. The words hit Sasuke hard, reminding him of the classroom episode a week ago "Sas..."

"Don't say that ridiculous nickname in such a ridiculous way" The Uchiha closed his eyes briefly, hoping that when he opened them he wouldn't see a Naruto whispering his nickname close to his ear "Naruto, what are you doing?"

"Why don't you open your eyes and find out?" Sasuke didn't need his vision to understand what was happening, his touch already solved the mystery.

He could feel the tiny hairs on the back of his neck rise against the hand, stroking his hair as if it were fragile porcelain. He felt the firm touch on his waist, in contrast, making heat take hold in not quite appropriate places. Naruto's fleshy mouth made a point of lightly brushing his pale neck, keeping his low voice whispering, alternating between blowing and biting his sensitive and probably reddish ear.

Was that hell or heaven?

"I-I thought your reputation was more important" With a shred of conscience left, Sasuke commented in a breathless voice "I don't want anyone whining in my ear for corrupting their only child."

" Don't worry, Sas" The Uchiha couldn't contain the embarrassing sound that came out of his throat when Naruto pulled his strands, making their needy mouths brush with a certain urgency "The only thing you'll hear will be our moa-"

"Don't you dare complete the sentence" His face could be flushed, his hands shaking and sweat could be gathering on his forehead as a reminder of his nervousness, however, he was still Sasuke Uchiha, his pride wouldn't dare to betray him.

Therefore, he brought his lips together, feeling the smooth surface that the other's pink mouth provided him.

Naruto didn't completely believe in heaven or hell, he believed that everyone could make their own destiny without interference from some divine being. However, feeling Sasuke's icy hands sliding over his neck and his hips rubbing against each other, causing friction that drew not-so-subtle moans from him, the only thing he could think was that the owner of the black orbs was not from this world.

It was hell that tasted like heaven.
