You couldn't believe it was happening today. The first episode was going to be live and you and 12 others were front and center. It was a stupid lottery type thing your friends had forced you to do with them. The winners would be front and center for this new tv show about traveling to stories and completing missions. You didn't quite get it but you had won and you had to pick three friends to join you on the show. It freaked you out when you first realized but the more the show organized told you about what would happen the more excited you got.
This was the first time humans where going to be world hopping. They first tested with drones to make sure it was save. The scientists behind it managed to get a lot of information from the drones that somehow brought back small amounts of energy that was way more effective then anything your world currently had. And so they decided to make a tv show to get attention and more funding. You still didn't understand everything but with the little amount of energy they got from the drones they could tell how to get more. They also somehow found a way to make the drones invisible so as not to disrupt the story worlds.
You and your friends would be starting the mission soon. You were currently getting makeup done and a designer was showing you what you would be wearing. You and your friends were the first group. You were all going to be giving systems as soon as you were dressed. Glady you saw Zoe and Luna getting ready beside you and Jake was already done waiting on the couch. When told that the group had to choose a system role from a small list of typical characteristics you allowed your friends to pick first. Zoe picked the 'Mary Sue' role as she thought it would be easy. Jake picked 'Paladin' thinking about the power they normally had to enact justice on others. Luna picked 'Confidant' after hearing the other two going on about all the ass they would kick together. You had a hard time deciding between 'Villianess' because of how fun it would be and the 'Caregiver' as you are more natural with that role. You decided 'Caregiver' might help more with the others.
Not long after getting ready you and the other guests on the show were forced into a room as they all started giving you more information about your systems and how you have to play the role your system gives you in order to get points and energy to travel to the next story. They also remind you that sometimes you will work with your original group, sometimes with others but not to act out of character in front of anyone not in the group. They also said that even when your role is done you may have to stay in the story until its end.
After the host informed everyone everything they needed to know, scientists came out of nowhere to insert the system into everyone's body. The show was about to begin soon so you saw how rushed and worried some of the scientists were. When one finally approached you they had you confirm your details and your system before quickly inserting the needle into your dominant arm. It hurt but it was bearable when you fought about how awesome the stories would be. You saw the scientist fiddle with the Ipad before telling you that your system was now active.

Something wasn't right wasn't it meant to say it was the Caregiver system? Before you could ask one of the scientists about it they all ran out of the room as The show started. You could hear cheering from the live audience and your nerves got the best of you. You quickly confirm with the system before preparing yourself. You remember they were going to introduce you in your groups.

"Now introducing the first of your scout's;" The host stands in the middle of a bright stage with three different colored stands for you and your group. Blue, Green and Red yours was the red group. And as nervous as you were when you realized when you, Jake and Zoe moved Luna didn't. You quickly move a hand around her neck and grab Zoe's with the other. Jake understood quickly based on your movements what you were trying to do so he grabbed Luna's hand as well. You rushed onto the stage with false excitement to hide your nerves.
"Hello I'm (Y/N) and I'm the Caregiver scout." You quickly remove yourself from your friends,
"And this is..." Jake smiles brightly
"Jake here your Paladin scout,"
"I'm Zoe and I'm the Mary Sue scout meaning I get to do all the cool things so pay attention to me."
Luna almost freezes but quickly recovers, "Luna and I am Confident I can do my scout role properly" The host leads you to the red group's couch and then the other teams. Once all the teams are introduced the host asks everyone questions about why they choose their system. When he finally asks you, you smile comfortably as you answer.
"Because I want to help raise up the main character and provide a place of comfort though all their trials. Plus I have always loved the warm mothers who die too early in stories." The audience seems to like your answer as a lot of them are smiling at you. "I plan to help the main characters as much as I can even if it kills me. Lucky I don't have to worry about dying since if the character dies I won't" You try and laugh your nerves away as the host focuses on someone else.
After about 20 mins of more questions and answers it begins. The scientist bring out the portal you see as many of the other scouts worry about being first to go in. Even after the host tries to encourage everyone. You look at your group and smile, Jake smiles wickedly back and Luna nods while Zoe just grabs your hand.
You jump up, "Better late than never," As you run full force into the portal. Zoe's words chase you, "See you losers." Jake seems to shout "This will be cool," And the Last words are the cold from
Luna. "Us red scouts will be leaving first."
Then everything went white.
