Work Text:

Life’s too short to even care at all, oh-oh

Should he end it all? Would his family even care? Cooper is in L.A and his parents never notice him anyway, he is just a piece of furniture to them. Kurt would. Kurt would care.

I’m losing my mind, losing my mind, losing control

McKinely’s crowded hallways, and unorganized ways has led to having to take multiple days of school due to depression periods. Unable to get out of bed and barely able to eat unless someone prompts him means he is overloaded with work by the time returns to school.

These fishes in the sea they’re staring at me, oh-oh

Oh, oh-oh, oh

The other glee kids still look at him like he is a spy from Dalton, even after being here for nearly a year. If only he stayed at Dalton; if only Kurt stayed at Dalton.

A wet world aches for a beat of a drum

Oh, oh-oh, oh

Sam likes him. Sam and Kurt. Blaine spends most of his time wishing for more friends, the glee club is like a family and he is the date brought along that nobody likes.

If I could find a way to see this straight

Everything was clouded, he could barely remember the things that happened during his episodes. Last night he found highlighted, cross referenced notes of why he should end it all. It must have been one of his mixed episodes where he was manic with depressive thoughts.

I’d run away

He ran away to Dalton before, so why can’t he again? He had already filled out the application form, all he had to do was send it - to go back to his safe place.

To some fortune that I, I should have found by now

He had found it two years ago when he first moved to Dalton Academy. When he met Wes, his mentor that every mid-year transfer had; when he met Nick, his supportive roommate; when he met Jeff, Nick’s friendly hyperactive boyfriend.

I’m waiting for this cough syrup

To come down, come down

He needed Wes, he was a secure, strong point in Blaine’s life. Never stopped caring, never stopped supporting and never stopped loving.

Life’s too short to even care at all, oh-oh

He had decided to send his application in for Dalton. Wes came to see him last weekend and had convinced him to do it. Blaine knew it would help his mental health but he didn't want to break Kurt’s heart.

I’m coming up now, coming up now, out of the blue

Blaine was ready, Wes was coming to Lima to help him tell the glee club he was transferring. They would only miss his voice anyway, but he thought it was kind to let them know.

These zombies in the park they’re looking for my heart

Oh, oh-oh, oh

They stared. Rachel was the first to speak shouting about needing him; Kurt was next, asking him why he didn't tell him; then Mr Schue, how could he do this to them. Wes explained it was for the best as McKinely was too spontaneous and unorganized, Blaine had zoned out by then.

A dark world aches for a splash in the sun, oh-oh

He needed Dalton. Dalton was his sun. His heaven. His home.

If I could find a way to see this straight

I’d run away, to some fortune that

I should have found

By now

“What, you're leaving?” shouts Sam as he follows after them down the hallway. He couldn't believe it, of course he has noticed Blaine has been a bit off but thought it was just a bad grade or something.

“Sorry Sam, it's just too much here. I hope we can still have our Blam night every Friday?” he asks, not wanting to lose another thing that has helped ground him through McKinley.

So I run now to the things they said could restore me

Restore life the way it should be

I have to go to Dalton. My therapist said that it will help me, Dalton’s my home. He repeats this mantra in his head until Wes has led him out to the car.

I’m waiting for this cough syrup

To come down

They drive to Dalton, the Headmaster letting Blaine attend the classes before his application gets approved. It helps that he had been there before and the Headmaster knows him.

One more spoon of cough syrup now, oh, oh-oh
