Peter remembers the day he was abducted by aliens like it was yesterday. It was a sunny day in the middle of July and he was eight years old, collecting rocks from a creek in the woods behind his house as his father watched him. Peter was always an adventurous child and would often wander off if his parents looked away for even one second. His father had to take a business call and told Peter to not go too far, and of course Peter did not listen and wandered off as his dad wasn’t paying attention.
And that’s when it happened, young Peter saw an alien spacecraft seemingly appear out of thin air, hovering over him. Before he had time to react a yellow light beam shot from the bottom of the ship and surrounded him, and he was teleported into a prison cell on the ship.
Peter’s life got worse from there. The aliens that captured him were part a cult called The Creationists. They believed that the High Evolutionary was a god and if they followed his teachings they would be granted access to his perfect planet in the afterlife. The Creationists would go from planet-to-planet abducting one higher life form and one lower life form and try to make the higher life forms “better” by mixing their DNA with that of the lower life form, but the experiments always turned out either horribly mangled and disfigured or dead. Peter miraculously broke the cycle of failed experiments.
The Creationists conducted dozens of experiments on Peter and were able to successfully mix his DNA with that of a spider and he gained multiple superhuman abilities. Peter’s first batch of powers manifested after six months of experiments by The Creationists. He gained enhanced strength and agility and an enhanced sense of sight, hearing, and smell. Peter didn’t develop any more powers until a year and a half later, when he gained more spider-like abilities. His hands and feet turned sticky and he could climb and walk on any surface and he was able to shoot strong, organic spider webs from his wrists. After his new powers developed The Creationists started to train Peter in combat and how to control his powers, believing that Peter was their key to the High Evolutionary’s afterlife paradise.
Peter was rescued when he was twelve years old, four years after his abduction. He remembers laying on his cot that was hanging on by a thread in his dilapidated cell waiting for one of his captors to come escort him to the training room like they did every day when suddenly he heard an explosion and alarms started blaring. A bipedal talking raccoon and a living tree, who Peter had later learned were named Rocket and Groot, had broke into the facility he was being held in to loot it. Rocket wasn’t the hero type, but when he stumbled upon Peter’s cell he could see himself in the kid and rescued him. When Rocket, Groot, and Peter left the facility Rocket remotely detonated multiple bombs he had left all over the inside of the building, and all that was left of the place Peter was tortured in for years was a pile of rubble.
Peter decided that he couldn’t go back to Earth now that he had these powers, he would probably be swooped up by an Earth government agency and experimented on all over again. He joined Rocket and Groot in their adventures as the trio started to grow closer.
Peter is now an outlaw/bounty hunter with his two best friends and he feels like nothing can ruin his happiness.
Little does he know, he’s about to go on the adventure of a lifetime.
