Work Text:

Pain and heartbreak.

That’s all Hyacinthstripe felt at that moment.

The moment he saw the patrol bringing back his dead child, he felt his whole world shatter.

His last living child, Chestnutlake, was dead.

“This- This can’t be real…” Hyacinthstripe thought to himself.

It had only been a moon since Grassthistle died and four moons since Robinflicker died.

Now, he was left completely and utterly alone.

Hyacinthstripe was completely devastated.

He wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to continue on.

He couldn’t stop crying during Chestnutlake’s vigil. No matter how much the other clan members tried, Hyacinthstripe was inconsolable.

His throat hurt from crying, and by the time his son’s vigil was finished, he could barely speak.

It felt like StarClan hated him. They had single-handedly ripped away all three of his children. One to an infection, and two to monsters on the Thunderpath.

StarClan was cruel for forcing him to outlive his children.

His whole world was drained of color. He felt numb and broken.

He had every right to feel that way.

He’s been cursed to live the rest of his life without his children.

Hyacinthstripe can’t even begin to think of how he’ll cope with this.

He retreated to his nest, where he was sure he would be spending the next few days, refusing to get up. He couldn’t bear the thought of waking up in the morning and not seeing his son laying in the clearing.
