Chapter Text

Against popular belief tony did on occasion have girlfriends. There weren’t a lot but none ever compared to Mary Fitzpatrick. Tony was with Mary for a year before she reconciled with her ex. Tony and Mary ended on not so great terms and he never expected to hear from her again.

He didn’t until about six months later. That took him off guard. What surprised him even more was when she told him she was pregnant with his son.

See the thing about tony is, when he was younger him and his father’s relationship was stained at best. He never wanted to be a father, he didn't want to put another kid through that.

He told Mary as much or he likes to think he did. When in reality the conversation went a bit more like this:

“I'm pregnant and it’s your”

“Are you sure it’s mine?”

“If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be calling”

“I don’t want to be in its life”

“Didn’t think you would but I thought you deserved to know”

He wasn’t proud of how he handled it but it was too late now. Or at least he thought it was until 2014 when he got a call from a woman named May Parker.

Turns out Mary and her husband Richard had died in a plane crash seven years earlier and their son, Peter, was sent to live with Richard's brother and his wife, Ben and May Parker.

According to May her husband had died a few months ago and when she was going through his stuff and stumbled upon a letter from Mary she had meant to give Peter on his sixteenth birthday naming him as Peter's biological father.

He was terrified but ecstatic when May asked him if he would like to meet his son.

And from that it was history, him and Peter became extremely close, helped along with their shared interest in science and engineering.

God, he really was all the good Tony could ever wish for.

It started as a joke.

It was one of the avengers typical post mission get together (not celebration, not always). They were laughing and drinking, Tony with a soda (he’s been cutting back for Peter). Then Clint said something that took him off guard.

“You should do one of those DNA test things, find out if you have anymore kids”

After talking about it with Pepper and then with Peter, he did. It was simple really, some DNA, a name and a way to get in contact if a relative was located. He didn't expect anything to come of it.

You’d think he'd have learned better by now.

A few months later he got an email saying they had found someone. There was a name and an email on the form.
