After Clare hung up she realised she didn't want to talk to Jake she knew it was over she rather talk to Alli and apologise because best friends are more important than a boy especially if that boy is now her step brother. She decided to head upstairs to get ready since she's waiting for Bianca to arrive.
Bianca got in her car and she had to ask Adam where Clare lived since she had no idea so now she was in her junk of a car turning on the radio as she drove to the Edwards residence. She wonders what Drew and Katie were doing and cringe at the thought of them swapping spit and feeling grossed out. Bianca arrived at Clare's, getting out of the car and walking up standing at the door knocking.
"Coming" Clare called out, opening up the front door "I'm ready" She looked at Bianca with a soft smile.
"Good let's go Edwards " Bianca cleanly was bothered by something so Clare knew to keep her distance as they walked to the car.
Meanwhile up at the cabin Jake climbs out his truck along with Alli, Drew, Marisol and Katie "We're finally here" the taller boy calls out.
"Let me taste the fresh air" Alli stuck her head out the window when the truck stopped and got out. "I still think we should invite Clare" she asks, not liking how she and Clare left things.
"No phone signal up here" Jake tells Alli as he enters the cabin first with everyone following behind him. The cabin was quite small. There was a living area with a sofa and a few chairs and a coffee table.
And the teens start to wander around and they notice they weren't that much in here "Hey Jake is there a TV here?" Marisol noticed she hoped they were something fun to do.
Jake shook his head no "Nope sorry my dad bought this place in the 90s and the owners just left it like this."
"So nothing to do?" Marisol crosses her arms, she takes a look around and notices Drew and Katie were cosy and feeling like a 3rd wheel. "I'm going to go explore."
"Alone? Not when it is almost dark let me come." Jake offers. He and Marisol decide to leave. Alli rolls her eyes not wanting to be left alone with her ex and his girlfriend who was a bitch to her best friend.
Drew pulls Katie closer "Let's go to a bedroom" he whispered to Katie as they went into a room.
"Great" Alli was now looking to see if there was anything useful pulling out a candlestick, knife, lead pipe, rope, wrench, revolver which seem to be just like weapons used in that board game Cludo Alli thought to herself when she got up she hoped Clare was okay.
"So we're you think we get the best wood if you want to build a bonfire?" Marisol walking with Jake.
"I'm thinking if we walk a little closer to the woods you know?" Jake nodded he always wondered about Marisol she was pretty indeed and knew they definitely more than the rumours at school.
As they walked Marisol stops in her tracks "Here some wood" she bends her knees to lift up the pieces of wood "My dad always told me that you shouldn't bend you back when lifting things" she chuckles.
"He sounds quite about right" Jake helps Marisol with the rest grinning ear to ear as they start to head back.
"Thanks and I was in Girls Guide you know" the smaller girl grins showing off her dimples.
"Cheerleader, student council, now girl guides. That's really amazing but again you are" he blushes.
"Wow Jake Martin do I see your cheeks going red there" she held the wood close gazing in his eyes.
"Maybe I am" Jake flirts his heart skipping a beat as he leans in to kiss her lips. They were an electric spark that seemed to go off inside of them.
Marisol had butterflies in her stomach she could feel herself floating kissing his lips back. They were sweet, gentle but passionate unlike KC's which were more lost in the moments needy but Jake he seemed to be the perfect boyfriend material with how tall he was and that red pick up truck of his also fixing everything.
After a minute Jake pulls back for air "Woah that was-" he was speechless he was lost for words.
"Amazing" Marisol squealed with so much joy she blushed a deeper shade of feeling on top of the world.
"Definitely" Jake smiles, he gazes back in her brown beautiful eyes. "We should get back before it gets dark."
Marisol nodded in agreement "Agreed let's get out of here" . She beams brightly as they walk back to the cabin.
Nearby Bianca groans as her car engine messed up "Crap not again" the older teen complained.
"I sure we are not that far let me check the map" Clare reassured the messy curly maned girl next to her as she reached in the glove department as she tried to fix her hair band because she got some hair in her eyes she needed to see.
Bianca noticed she was annoyed not at Clare just about her junk of a 20 year old car breaking down "Would you stop playing with your 80s headband" she sighs.
Clare could sense something but didn't want to push anything especially alone with Bianca who probably could kill her, "I'm just trying to figure out how close we are to the cabin" She tried to change the subject.
"We can just walk around it not dark yet" Bianca suggested taking off her seatbelt like she was on a mission getting Clare following behind.
As the sky went darker with more pinks, oranges, reds and blues Alli was looking through her phone at pictures of her and Dave she was debating on what Dave told her was the truth or not and if he really did cheat or they were actually broken up and Jacinta was just a rebound flight type situation honestly she had no answers she needed advice.
Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the gigging of Drew and Katie stepping out to look up to see Alli "Alli hi" they both said in unison.
Alli waved back politely. She hoped they weren't doing anything beyond making out in that room but again she didn't hear anything which was good.
"Marisol not back yet?" She was worried she heard there were bears but at that moment the front door went and Jake and Marisol entered.
"Hey, did we miss anything?:" Marisol asks, smiling wide as Jake goes looking for marshmallows.
"Not much Drew and I were just hanging in the room" the taller girl smiles but Marisol could tell that wasn't all true.
"Okay Katikins" she lightly teased, "But anyways I think we should have a bonfire that will be fun" she claps happily.
"Well I agree this still summer and I need some fun right?" Katie exclaims with a wide smile.
"Exactly and I'm so glad you are Katie you deserve to have fun we are going to rule the school" Marisol beams happily.
Clare and Bianca have been walking around what seemed like hours; they 've been walking around in circles "I feel like we walked this way?" the younger teen tails behind Bianca she knows it now gotten darker out.
"Just trust me Edwards okay I got this" Bianca turned to Clare but there definitely were sounds of footsteps which sounded close to where they were.
"What was that?" Clare turned to see where it came from, Bianca takes her arm as they walked. "I'm sure it was nothing, probably a wolf, bear or coyote" Bianca shrugs but little did they know it was someone.
The bonfire now lit as Jake and Marisol were setting everything up "So how do you feel about taking over as cheer captain?" Jake questions as he throws the last of the wood.
"Excited but also nervous" Marisol admitted she knows she will be a great captain even Chantay told her she would but leading was always Katie's thing that came easy to her but she was confident she got this she was also vice president.
"Well I believe you got this you doing to do an awesome job" Jake assured her taking a seat on the log as Katie, Drew and Alli now came over.
"I feel like we should invite more people because I'm looking like a fifth wheel here" Alli exclaims it true she wouldn't mind some more people but she is still going to have fun.
Over by the woods Clare and Bianca decided to split so they figured out a quicker way to the cabin as Clare walked around her phone was at low bars she thought heard something but it was probably the wind and trees until she felt something "Aah!" She screamed hoping Bianca could overhear.
"It's okay it's me Eli" a familiar voice holding on to Clare suddenly everything felt as if there was an invisible string he made sure Clare was okay with.
Clare looks up to see green eyes. She had these feelings inside samecones she always had "Eli… how-" she then cut off by the older teen boy.
"I overheard from Jake that he was having some people over at the cabin for some fun before school started so I got a bus then biked the rest up" Eli explained looking at Clare with a soft smile he noticed how Clare's eyes shines under the moonlight.
"Of course he didn't invite me but I needed to talk to Alli and Bianca and I sort of got lost" she was feeling a breeze which Eli took notice of.
"Here you can borrow my jacket and how about we go together. I thought I could smell fire somewhere" he slid out his leather jacket placing it around Clare's shoulders so she was warm.
"Thank you, you don't have to" Clare this but knows with their history she wasn't sure if sending time together would be good or not but she so proud of how far Eli has celebrated now knowing why he may had reacted to things in the past she had a more understanding but she may be still in love with him.
"Hey I insist and I'll never let anything happen to you okay" he assured Clare he was definitely getting a lot more healthy and better for himself now he knows he has bipolar he started to eat better, workout almost everyday keeping to a routine.
Clare smiles, staring at Eli. He was doing the same thing as Bianca walked up "There you are Clare, wait emo boy why are you here?" She looks between the two soulmates.
"Going to escort this beautiful girl to the cabin you can come with" he placed his hand on Clare's back as Bianca sensed something going on but decided to not say anything.
"Fine just don't get us lost, '' Bianca points as she starts to walk with Eli and Clare walking side by side. She thought she caught them stealing glances she knows because she stole glances from Drew while they were under a blanket watching horror movies this summer.
They took a few minutes to get to the bonfire when they notice group of people from their school sitting around, Clare spots Alli right away "I should go over should I?" She had told Eli what had happened he supported her and knows Clare really needed her best friend.
"You should she very important to you right? Make it right" Eli advised her.
The curly haired girl smiles sweetly "Thank you, Eli I appreciate this" she then walked over to where Alli was with the others following but letting her talk to Alli "Alli!" She calls out, making the other girl look up and her face lightens up.
"Clare! I'm so happy you here" she got up as the girls hugged tight, they let go so they could speak probably sitting back down on the log behind them.
"I'm sorry" they both say in unison but Clare would go first, "I should've listened more I assumed you and Dave were just missing each other so that why I said that" she was genuine, she doesn't want to lose Alli over something this.
"Thank you I appreciate this and this means a lot you always mean well and I know you wouldn't really mean it" Alli genuinely smiles, "And I apologise too I know how your mother remarried quickly must of been rushed which is valid and you know I'm always here like how you are for me."
"Always we need to communicate more if one of us going through something we talk and that goes both ways" she takes Alli's hand.
"Agreed now did I just see you walk in with your ex? And Bianca" she whispers so they wouldn't hear.
"Bianca just a ride and Eli found me" Clare explained, she looks at her friend she wonders how Alli talk with Dave went. "How was your talk with Dave going?"
"We broke up he cheated" Alli sighs she really genuinely thought he was the one but she didn't know the full story so to her he cheated but technically he did not.
"Wait seriously? Dave Turner, the boy who had the biggest crush on you since we were niners?" Clare was so shocked she could remember Dave used to try to impress Alli with a joke or inviting her out to her favourite ice cream parlour Over the summer before grade 10.
Alli slowly noded trying to think ways why "I know we got in a fight after his dad had to dave us from a poker game which I know is dangerous but he just said we were on a break."
"On a break?" Clare repeated the line seem to be from a 90s sitcom set around a coffee shop in New York "Okay on a break like break up or taking a break?" She asks.
"On a break like UI thought he meant take a break for now but now thinking back he might have meant break up? Oh I don't know this is all complicated" Alli tries not to tear up.
Clare squeezes Alli's hands in support she takes a glance where she seen Eli eating a burnt marshmallow talking to Jake of all people but she looks back at Alli "Believe me no relationships are perfect some can get messy but if you both honest and talk and listen then I think k you'll be okay."
Alli smiles soft she looks at Clare she knows what she has to do when she gets back to Degrassi "You really are a relationship expert" she chuckles "Thank you." She got up linking her arms with Clare.
"Me? I just not at all an expert but thank you" she walks into the cabin while everyone follows behind.
