Chapter 1: Doodle Sphere

Chapter Text

Ink found himself in a moment of quiet contemplation, his usual cheerful demeanor replaced by a hint of introspection. He sat upon a paint-splattered stool in the Doodle Shpere, surrounded by his vibrant creations, the AU's, and the faint scent of fresh colors.

As he dipped his brush into a palette of vibrant blue, Ink's thoughts wandered towards the concept of soulmates. He couldn't help but wonder: Did he even have a soulmate? Without a soul of his own, was he destined to wander the Multiverse alone, forever searching for a connection that might never come?

Ink sighed softly, his ink splattering onto the canvas as his thoughts intertwined with the vibrant strokes of his brush. He pondered the nature of souls and the essence that made soulmates so special. Was it something intangible, an ethereal bond that transcended time and space? Or was it an intricate dance of fate and chance, weaving its way through the lives of those fortunate enough to possess a soul?

His mind filled with questions, Ink stared at the canvas before him, the colors blending and merging in a kaleidoscope of emotions. He had witnessed countless soulmates in the AUs, their love and connection undeniable. But where did he fit into this intricate tapestry of souls and companionship?

"Oh, no time to be sad, I have to meet up with Dream and Blueberry!"

"Hm, we are just meeting up in Underswap, I shouldn't need Broomy," Ink said, believing he was right, he opened a portal and and jumped through it.

We really hope you all enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 2: In Underswap

Summary:

This chapter Ink, Dream, and Blueberry meet up, just to be attacked by (some of) the members of the Bad Sanses

Chapter Text

Ink made his way through the vibrant and bustling streets of Underswap, a parallel universe filled with swapped versions of the classic undertale characters. On his way to find where Blueberry was at he finds Dream, also looking for Blueberry. They were on their way to find their friend who always brought a smile to their faces with his infectious optimism.

As they found the spot Blueberry was at, Blueberry started bouncing up and down with excitement. His eyes widened as he saw his two friends approaching, and he rushed towards them, wrapping them in a tight embrace. "Ink! Dream! It's been way too long! I'm so happy to see you guys!"

The trio exchanged warm greetings, catching up on their respective adventures since their last encounter. Laughter filled the air as they shared stories, basking in each other's company. Little did they know that their peaceful reunion was about to be interrupted.

Suddenly, a flurry of dark energy crackled through the air, signaling the arrival of Error, Killer, Horror, and Nightmare, they are 4 of multiple members of the infamous group known as the Bad Sanses,Their leader Nightmare being the brother of Dream. Their intentions were to cause chaos, and they had a reputation for destroying AU's wherever they went.

Ink, Dream, and Blueberry immediately went on high alert, their expressions turning serious. They knew that the Bad Sanses's presence meant trouble was brewing. Ink instinctively reached for his trusty paintbrush, Broomy, which he always kept by his side to combat adversaries. But to his dismay, he remembered he left it at the Doodle Shpere.

Ink cursed under his breath, frustrated by his idiocy. The absence of his paintbrush meant he was at a disadvantage in this encounter. Error, notorious for his manipulation of glitches, immediately recognized the opportunity presented to him.

"Look who's defenseless!" Error sneered, his grin widening. "No Broomy to save the day this time, huh, Ink? You're in for a surprise."

"Crap..I'm doomed." Ink mumbled under his breath, as he tried to seem like he wasn't worried. "STAY AWAY FROM OUR FRIEND ERROR!" Dream and Blueberry yelled in sync

"And if I don't what are you two going to do about it, attack me and let Nightmare and the others destroy Underswap?" Error sneered. Dream and Blueberry look stressed and out of the blue Killer attacks Dream.

"OH STARS-" Blueberry yells "DREAM, ARE YOU OKAY?" Dream manages to get Killer away "Yep, I'm fine" Dream gives Blueberry a thumbs up

Amidst the chaotic clash, Ink's voice rose, cutting through the din like a beacon of hope. "Stay focused, everyone!" he shouted, his words infused with a blend of urgency and encouragement. His heart raced, but he refused to let panic seep in. He continued to analyze the battlefield, his mind racing with strategies even as his pulse quickened.

Error's taunts continued to fill the air, an incessant barrage of mockery and provocation. "Is that the best you've got?" he jeered, a malevolent grin twisting his features. Ink's resolve solidified in response, his voice firm as he retorted, "We'll prove you wrong." The tension was palpable, each word exchanged a testament to the clash of wills that fueled the fight.

Dream's battle cries mingled with the clash of blows as he engaged Killer, his voice strained but unyielding. "I won't let you harm anyone else!" he vowed, each word punctuated by a well-timed strike. Killer's responses were laced with sinister laughter, a chilling contrast to Dream's unwavering determination. "You can't stop me, Dream," Killer sneered, but Dream's swift retort was laced with conviction, "I won't stop trying!"

Blueberry's bone attacks whizzed through the air, his voice determined as he launched each compressed mini-bone. "You won't get away with hurting our friends!" he called out, his words carrying the weight of his loyalty. Error's retorts were laced with his signature chaotic energy. "Predictable," he taunted, but Blueberry's voice remained steadfast, "We'll see about that!"

Amidst the chaos, something shifted subtly between Ink and Error. As their gazes locked, an unspoken connection passed between them. Ink's resolute expression softened for a fraction of a second, his eyes meeting Error's in a way that transcended the battle raging around them. Error's confident facade wavered, his gaze holding a flicker of something deeper beneath the surface. In that fleeting moment, amidst the fury of the fight, a spark of understanding seemed to bridge the gap between them.
Error snapped out of this trance like staring contest just in time to dodge another wave of Blueberry's bone attacks.

As Dream and Killer's elemental clash intensified, Dream's breaths grew heavy, his words laced with exertion. "I've faced worse than you!" he grunted, his attacks escalating in both power and intensity. The sounds of their collision were punctuated by Dream's unshakable resolve. "You can't defeat me!"

Ink's ink manipulation reached a crescendo as he solidified his protective shield, his voice carrying an undertone of determination. "We won't let you harm anyone," he murmured, the ink swirling around him a testament to his creativity and strength. Nightmare's distant presence seemed to waver in the face of Ink's defiance, though his voice remained silent.

Amidst the chaos, the symphony of words, clashes, and retorts continued to build. "We fight for the good in our world!" Blueberry's proclamation was fierce, his bone attacks quick and calculated. Dream's every motion was a testament to his combat experience and unwavering resolve. "We'll end this!" he declared, his voice echoing with the weight of his determination.

As the battle raged on, their collective spirit blazed brighter, unifying their efforts. "We've faced worse odds before!" Ink's voice carried the echo of countless past battles, each one adding to his resilience. With every clash and dodge, their unity was solidified, a testament to their shared commitment. "We won't back down!" Blueberry's voice rose, echoing the sentiment that coursed through them all.

Amidst the heated clash, Underswap crackled with Negative energy and determination. Yet, as the confrontation wore on, a sudden interruption cut through the chaos. Nightmare's authoritative voice echoed, demanding attention. "Halt!" he commanded, his proclamation signaling a shift.

He declared that the pool of negativity had reached its limit, prompting Killer and Error to disengage. Error's eyes, a storm of colors, locked onto Ink and Blueberry, a glare laden with unspoken tension. As Error moved towards the portal, Killer's eerie laughter floated, a stark contrast that marked the enigmatic end of this battle.

Ink stepped forward, his voice tense but steady. "Nightmare, we can't let this continue. The consequences are far-reaching." Blueberry nodded in agreement, his expression determined as he took a protective stance beside Ink.

Nightmare's cold gaze swept over the battlefield, his lips curling into a disdainful smirk. "Consequences? You've always been naive, Ink. This is the way it has to be. Chaos and darkness are as essential as creation and light."

A faint ripple of uncertainty crossed Ink's face, but he stood his ground. "There has to be another way, Nightmare. We can find a balance without resorting to this level of destruction."

Error's hand rested on the swirling portal, his voice tinged with a mixture of bitterness and resignation. "Ink's right, Nightmare. This cycle needs to end. We've all been trapped in it for too long."

Killer's laughter turned eerie, almost haunting. "Oh, but isn't this cycle what keeps things interesting? Watching worlds crumble, creativity snuffed out by despair. It's a masterpiece of chaos."

Error shot Killer a sharp look, his patience clearly waning. "Your amusement has cost us enough. It's time to let go."

As the tension reached its peak, the ground trembled beneath them. A fissure split the battlefield, glowing with a mix of colors that seemed to reflect the inner turmoil of the combatants. Ink and Blueberry exchanged a determined glance, united in their resolve to change the course of destiny.

With a final sigh, Nightmare's shoulders slumped slightly. "Very well. But remember, Ink, the line between creation and destruction is thinner than you think."

And with that, the chaotic clash came to an end, leaving behind a battlefield scarred by conflict and a glimmer of hope for a different future.

I belive this chapter is kinda cringe but it's been too long so yeah

Chapter Text

Hi guys! This is a little chapter while we work on the next chapter!

Also our headcannon is they both like space and Dream likes poetry, most of the interests here are headcannons!
-Rome
Dream and Cross, having recently unearthed the profound truth that they were soulmates, eagerly embarked on their first date. They chose a charming, dimly lit cafe nestled in the heart of the city. As they walked through the cafe's quaint wooden door, their eyes met, and a spark of cosmic connection ignited.

Cross, with a bashful smile, gestured toward the cozy corner booth. "Shall we?" he asked, his voice soft yet filled with excitement.

Dream nodded, his heart racing with anticipation. "Absolutely."

They settled into the booth, their fingers brushing against each other as they exchanged smiles that held the promise of eternity. The ambiance was perfect, with soft jazz melodies playing in the background, casting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Cups of rich, aromatic coffee were served, their fragrant steam rising and mingling with the anticipation in the air. Dream, sipping his coffee, couldn't help but ask, "So, Cross, what brought you to stargazing?"

Cross's eyes lit up as he spoke, "I've always been drawn to the night sky. It's like a canvas of endless possibilities. The constellations, they... they seem to hold the secrets of the universe. I find solace in their silent company."

Dream smiled, feeling an immediate connection. "I couldn't agree more. The stars have a way of making our worries seem small, don't they?"

Cross nodded in agreement. "And what about you, Dream? What's your passion?"

Dream leaned forward, his eyes filled with enthusiasm. "I'm a writer, but not in the traditional sense. I write poetry. It's how I express my deepest emotions and desires. Each verse is a reflection of my soul."Cross's gaze never wavered. "That's beautiful. Poetry has a way of touching the heart in ways other words can't."

As they continued to share stories, they discovered intricate connections between their lives, as if they had been dancing around each other in a grand cosmic waltz. Their laughter filled the cafe, and their eyes held the kind of warmth that could melt the coldest of hearts.

Their hands brushed against one another's, fingers interlocking naturally, as if they had always belonged together. In that moment, amidst the soft glow of cafe lights and the gentle hum of conversation around them, Dream and Cross realized that they had found their missing piece, the one their hearts had been yearning for.

Their date felt like destiny in action, a script written by the stars themselves. As they held hands across the table, they exchanged promises silently, knowing that their journey together had only just begun. It was a date that marked the beginning of an epic love story, one that transcended time and space, and they embraced it with open hearts, ready to explore the infinite possibilities of their intertwined souls.

Chapter Text

"Nightmare's attacks are growing more erratic. We must enhance our anticipation and strategic responses."

Swap interjected with a proposed plan, indicating a specific location on the map, "A diversion here could draw Nightmare's focus away from the main assault. Dream, you and I can coordinate to execute this strategy."

Ink, actively participating in the planning, couldn't silence the nagging questions about his emotions. Swap, noting Ink's distraction, gently prompted, "Ink, any insights on how your abilities can counter Nightmare's assaults strategically?"

Ink, caught between the intricacies of tactics and the emotional turbulence within, hesitated before responding, "I... um, perhaps I could create a protective barrier during his onslaught. But, there's something else I need to understand."

Dream, sensing Ink's internal struggle, spoke in a reassuring tone, "Ink, we trust you. If there's something on your mind, share it. It might be the missing piece to strengthen our approach."

Ink glanced around the room, contemplating his revelation. With a deep breath, he admitted, "During the battle, when I locked eyes with Error, it felt different. Like there's more to our clash than the usual opposition. I can't dismiss it."The atmosphere in the room shifted as Dream's expression turned from calm contemplation to restrained anger. "Error?" he exclaimed, his voice tight with frustration. "In the midst of this crucial planning, you're letting personal distractions cloud your judgment? We need focus, not emotional entanglements."

Swap attempted to diffuse the tension, "Dream, understanding these emotions might be crucial for our overall strategy. It could be the key to breaking the cycle."

Dream, however, stood firm, his frustration palpable. "We're facing Nightmare, not indulging in sentimental musings. Ink, we need your full commitment to the plan, not emotional complications."

Ink, feeling the weight of Dream's disapproval, defended himself, "Dream, I understand the gravity of the situation, but these emotions might be tied to the very essence of our existence. Ignoring them could be just as detrimental as underestimating Nightmare."

Dream's eyes narrowed, his anger surfacing, "We've faced Nightmare countless times, Ink, and now you're jeopardizing our strategy with this unnecessary emotional baggage. We need a united front, not internal discord."

Swap, torn between the two, tried to find common ground, "Dream, Ink's insights could be valuable. Perhaps there's a way to integrate them into our plan without compromising our focus."

Dream, however, remained resolute, "No, we stick to the plan. This isn't the time to experiment with untested theories. Ink, get your priorities straight."

As the argument intensified, the room echoed with conflicting perspectives, emphasizing the internal struggles within the team. The battle against Nightmare loomed, both on the battlefield and within the fragile alliances forged in the face of an uncertain fate. The mixture of determination and discord hung in the air, leaving an unsettling tension as they grappled with the challenges ahead.Feeling the mounting pressure and frustration, Ink couldn't bear the weight of the argument any longer. With a heavy heart, he abruptly pushed away from the planning table, his chair scraping against the floor.

"I can't do this right now," Ink muttered, his voice strained with a mix of emotion and frustration. Ignoring the heated gaze of Dream and the concerned expression from Swap, he stormed out of the strategizing room, leaving behind a charged atmosphere.

Unbeknownst to the others, Ink made his way to the Doodle Sphere, a place of solace where he could find comfort. The vibrant yellow and calm empybess of the sphere provided a temporary escape from the conflicts and complexities that surrounded him.

As Ink immersed himself in the Doodle Sphere, the chaotic clash of emotions within him began to find expression on the canvas of his creation. The lines and shapes formed a visual representation of the internal turmoil he couldn't articulate in words.

Back in the strategizing room, Dream's frustration lingered, realizing the consequences of the heated argument. Swap, caught in the middle, sighed, recognizing the delicate balance they had lost. The room now held a void, a silence that underscored the internal struggles within the team and the uncertainty that lay ahead.

Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Feelings..?

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

In the sanctuary of the Doodlesphere, Ink sought solace, detached from the external conflicts that had left the team in disarray. He yearned to pour his emotions onto the canvas, a ritual that had often served as a cathartic release. Yet, as he dipped his brush into the vibrant colors, he didn't feel the relief he normally would.

As the brush touched the canvas, Ink's eyes fell upon the vials for which he used to feel, usually brimming with the essence of creativity. To his dismay, they were now empty, a silent testament to the dwindling reservoir of his emotions. Each stroke on the canvas, though earnest, mirrored the growing emptiness within him. The essence of his emotions, usually a kaleidoscope of feelings, now seemed to fade away, leaving behind a desaturated reflection of the internal void he grappled with. The Doodlesphere, a haven of creative expression now mirrored the hollowness that had settled within Ink with its silence.

The complexity of his internal struggles became even more poignant as the realization of his depleted vials deepened the sense of loss. The canvas, once alive with the energy of his emotions, now bore the weight of an artist whose creative essence was dwindling, like ink slowly fading from parchment.

Ink's attempts to capture the turbulence within were met with a sense of inadequacy. The brush moved across the canvas, tracing the contours of emotions that felt distant, as if slipping through his fingers like sand. The emptiness persisted, casting a shadow over the once vibrant sanctuary, as if the very essence of creativity had been drained from Ink's being.

As Ink's emotions drained, his eye lights becoming a soft white insead of the colorful shapes, he found himself trapped with only temporary artifical emotions by his own actions.

With his emotions reduced to nothing, Ink's detachment became a palpable weight, dragging him deeper into the abyss of his own emptiness. The once vibrant hues of his creative essence had dulled to a monochrome existence, leaving him adrift in a sea of apathy. Each step he took felt like wading through molasses, his movements sluggish and devoid of purpose.

It was within this desolate state that Ink found himself drawn to the Anti-Void, a realm untouched by the ebb and flow of emotions, where Error, the embodiment of chaos and disruption, resided. Using Broomy Ink summoned a portal, the swirling vortex of blackness beckoning him to plunge into the heart of oblivion.

Finally, amidst the infinite expanse of nothingness, Ink beheld Error, sitting in a beanbag chair, knitting while watching Undernovela—an absurd juxtaposition against the backdrop of the void. Error's presence exuded an aura of indifference, as if the chaos he wrought was but a mere pastime in the grand tapestry of existence.

Unperturbed by the absence of sensation that surrounded him, Ink approached Error with a sense of detached curiosity. His eye sockets, usually filled with the flicker of creativity, now remained empty and void of expression. There was no longing in his gaze, no desire for redemption or understanding—only the cold, calculated detachment of one who had relinquished all semblance of emotion.

As he drew nearer to Error, Ink felt the blue strings of Error's power wrapping around his skeletal form. Error's gaze, a piercing glare that seemed to penetrate the very core of Ink's being. "What do you want Ink." Error grumbles, looking over to the creative skeleton.

"I got in an argument with Dream." Ink responds, staring blankly at the ground. He just wanted to be near Error, trying to get that feeling back from when they were fighting. But to his disappointment, Error seems to not want anything to do with the creator. Until Error looks into Inks eyes, then down to the vials.

"Why are your vials empty?" Error asks bluntly, tightening the blue strings around Ink.

"I forgot to fill them." Ink responded, staring st Error with his empty white pupils.

"I have to do everything, just great." Error mumbles before releasing Ink. "Alright. Let's fill your vials." He says while motioning Ink to follow him.

Ink opens a portal to the Doodleshpere, just quietly entering throught the portal as Error follows.

"Come on Ink walk quicker." Error says, attempting to get Ink to hurry up without having to touch him.

Ink stays silent, more focused on the task at hand but he does quicken his pace, not wanting to fight with Error today.

As the two gaurdians walk through the Doodle Shpere in silence, the tension between them increasing. "Why did you and Dream get into a fight?" Error questions while still walking.

"The battle, how I got distracted while fighting you." Ink replies, looking down at the ground, fidgeting with his hands, not quite paying attention to whatever Error is saying.

Error grumbles quietly under his breath, "Of course. Dream is an idiot." Error looks back at Ink "Just ignore him, alright. There isn't anything wrong with you getting distracted. That's the first time in. How many fights? Meanwhile Dream is quite literally dating one of Nightmare's little henchmen."

Ink looks up from his hands as they approach the fountains from which Ink fills his vials at. "Oh.. that was quick..". Ink takes his vials from Error, putting the sash back over his torso, before filling his vials.

Meanwhile, Error watches Ink fill his vials. "Hurry up. I'm missing my show for this." He attempts to sound annoyed, but for some odd reason he is enjoying being around Ink. He thinks to himself "what are these feelings.. why do I like being around him?".

"Errorrrr? Earth to Error you there?" Ink, who while Error was lost in thought had drank his vials* "You good?"

Error looks up at Ink, nodding "I'm fine, perfectly fine. Now I'm going back to my void to watch my show." Error is about to open a portal to leave when Ink speaks up.

"Can I come with you.. I just don't wanna go bother Dream and Swap y'know," Ink laughs nervously, looking off to the side, expecting Error to just laugh at him and leave.

"Sure. You can come with me" Error responds, trying to hide the fact he cares.

"Oh! Yay! Thank you Ruru," Ink bounces on his heels, smiling like a kid in a candy store.

"Let's go, before I change my mind." Error walks through the portal, Ink following behind.

Error sets up the beanbag he sits at so Ink can also sit on it. Once they both get settled Error begins to knit. A while later, Ink is asleep on the bean bag when his phone goes off, Error grabs it and puts it on silent not caring to check what Dream had messaged Ink.

"... this is weird.. but not.. bad weird.." Error mumbles to himself as he continues to knit, closing the portal to Undernovela, so Ink won't be disturbed while he rests.
