The End which Created the Beginning

Summary:

One could say that death was the end of a person's current life. Of which, Y/n Dazai nee L/n would agree had she not been given a chance to start over after dying.

Choosing to live the way Odasaku wanted her to live in the outside world, the now former Port Mafia Boss takes the world of Twisted Wonderland by storm, grabbing these stubborn men by the reins one by one whether they wish for it or not.

Chapter 1: Prologue: Chapter 1

Summary:

Death was supposed to be the end for Y/n L/n. It was the only way that she could keep the world stabilised while leaving it in the hands of the two people who have a hand in fate. Never did she expect to have this new chance in a completely different world where villains from the all popular Disney series are heroes?

What was this about magic and becoming a student? She definitely didn't sign up for any of this!

Notes:

So... The MC of this story is essentially the character, Osamu Dazai from Beast! Noting that that character has been amended to become a woman and there are some changes to the personality. The suicidal tendencies still remain the same although they're a bit more light hearted and joking because she's already succeeded in dying once.

The times when she would appear to be in character to Osamu Dazai would be when she's serious or angry. Otherwise, while she's in Twisted Wonderland, she's always willing to help and be kind to others which is something Odasaku wanted Dazai to do in the first place regardless of whether it's what she wants or not.

The ability, No Longer Human, has been amended so that it has an effect similar to the canon one when faced with student's magic and abilities. That means it erases one's unique ability but it also erases blot. That sets up the premise for... some other things.

Please remember that while the MC is Osamu Dazai, she is inherently her own person with her own personality so don't be surprised when she acts completely different to how Dazai would act in a certain situation.

This is an ADVENTURE/ROMANCE story which means there will be moments between the MC and students of NRC and maybe RSA depending. Staff are excluded as is Ortho.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

She was nearing her end.

Of that, she was aware of. Hell, her plans for the past four years were leading up to this specific moment after all.

Y/n Dazai née L/n sighed softly to herself. She was exhausted of the life she was living. The very purpose that had kept her going had also become the reason for her death. In another world, she would have been able to be living a life where she was able to call herself Oda Sakunosuke's friend and ally.

The woman scratched the back of her head, her nails scraping at the bandages wrapped around her head and laughs softly to herself. Even her own name wasn't authentic. One could only wonder why she chose to replace her surname with Dazai. She wasn't married if anyone was wondering, the mafia boss was far too busy plotting to protect this singular world where Odasaku was able to become an author and live.

Her footsteps were silent as she walked up the stairs of the Port Mafia base towards the rooftop. She gingerly places her hand on top of the door knob and pushes it open.

Crrrkk...

SLAM!

There they were, the subjects of her plans. Atsushi on the ground with Akutagawa looming over him with victory

Placing weight in her steps, she walks towards them while clapping her hands. A smirk formed on her face as the two young boys turn to face the new addition on the rooftop.

"Congratulations," Her voice coloured with excitement as her smirk turned into a genuine smile, "Congratulations! Congratulations you two! That was so impressive!"

"Dazai-san..." Atsushi's broken voice reached her ears,

"The man in black..." Akutagawa's glare was tinged with confusion,

"It was a battle just as worthy as the one you had on board the ship," She grins as she referred to the real world, "So, it seems after carrying four and a half years of all that anger and vengeance, Akutagawa won eh? To think you'd beat Atsushi-kun after I spent four and a half years training him... Or maybe it's the power of the agency? Talk about losing face."

Her feet come to a stop for a second beside her apprentice's face and she leans down, her eyes cold as they lock eyes.

"Atsushi-kun, you're fired," The words left her lips with ease as he closed his eyes with acceptance,

"Okay," Atsushi acknowledged her,

Her heart stirred for a few moments in her chest as she places her hand on his shoulder. For a split second, the woman's irises showed the most emotion in her entire life.

'Instead, go live in the outside world. I've arranged for someone to take care of you so go, live in the world of the light.'

Y/n's smile softens as the thought runs through her mind, "Along with Kyouka-chan."

As though she had never stopped to speak to the boy, she continued on her path with slow steps towards the edge of the roof.

"What?" Y/n almost laughed at his sudden movement. She had to admit that she was glad the young boy had found someone to care for and someone to live for just like she once did.

"What are you plotting, man in black?!" Akutagawa's voice was raised, "You lured me here today, didn't you?! You used the letter, made Gin your bait but if you wanted me dead there must have been an easier way. What are you after? Beyond this battle today, what are you seeing?!"

The woman raised her hands at the incoming cloth in front of her, blocking her way and the soft smile she had sported for a few moments turned into a smirk.

"This battle today? You're wrong Akutagawa-kun. This was never about today," She continues on as her ability disperses his cloth, passing the boy. "For four and a half years. From the moment I separated you from your sister, ever element was set up for this moment. Atsushi-kun's training, the mafia's expansion, all of it."

"What?" His face contorted into one of puzzlement,

Y/n continued to walk until she finally reached the ledge of the roof before spinning on her heel, looking back at the two boys who appeared to be demanding an explanation from her.

"Are you familiar with the 'book'? Not just any book, mind you. A one-of-a-kind tome of blank white pages where anything written in it turns into reality," She smiles wryly,

"Turns... into reality?" Akutagawa stops in his tracks and stared,

"Yes well... Even if I say that whatever you write turns into reality, it's a little different from that," Her eyes soften, "The book is something like the origin of this world. Folded within it are branches of countless possible universes branching out into an infinite number of paths depending on choices made and specific met conditions. Then the moment you write something in the page of the book, it 'summons' a world tailored to what you wrote and the potential world in the book is swapped with the real world."

The port mafia boss brushes a stray lock of hair behind her ear and she closes her eyes, pausing for a brief second so that the two boys could take in the new information.

"In other words, 'reality' consists of a single physical world outside the book as well as the worlds within the pages of the book. The 'outside world' refers to a single possibility amongst countless others," Y/n spreads her arms out dramatically, "Right now, we're just one of those many possible worlds that exist within the book."

Her shadow seemed to engulf the two boys as her face softens, her hand clenching into a fist. She just needed to finish explaining this two her two major instruments in protecting this world and the book.

"Reality is still reality. This world carries just as much weight as the one outside. The fact that the book—which is closely linked with the outside world—exists in this world proves it. Of course, this world's book is something like a drain outlet," The exhaustion was starting to seep into her voice now, "It responds to an order from the outside world to either rewrite or destroy this world."

"How do you know this?" Akutagawa voiced the query that both he and Atsushi had.

"Oh, that's simple," The grin appears on her face again, "As you found out the hard way, I have an ability that allows me to erase other gifts. I used this trait to forge a singularity and forcibly connected the world's fragments together. I know all this because I succeeded in reading the memories of the me outside the book, the real me."

"You've taken in his memories?" The agency's newest recruit's eyes widened,

"From your other self... The real Dazai-san?" Atsushi finishes off his sentence.

"Before long, large, powerful groups such as 'the Guild' and 'the Rats' will come to Yokohoma in search of the book," Y/n's hand drops to her side, "You two must eliminate these enemies and protect the book. If they write something in it, this world will be destroyed and overwritten."

"I don't understand. Assuming what you say is true, what does it have to do with taking my sister from me?!" The anger burst from the black haired boy,

"Because... I needed help from both of you," She continued, steadiness and determination coloured her voice and danced in her eyes, "The singularity that occurs when your skills come together and the power beyond when your souls intertwine..."

Y/n sighs out softly and she spins back on her heel, taking her final steps to the side of the roof. Doing this would protect this world... and she would finally be able to let go of this inhuman existence.

"To obtain those, I needed to have you fight once and stand on the precipice of death," Her foot was just over the ledge now, "I needed you both to understand just who your opponent was."

"Dazai-san! Come back!" Atsushi pleaded with his boss, "It's dangerous!!"

"A word of advice," The Port Mafia boss raises one hand in the universal motion of stay quiet and smiles as she looks over her shoulder, "You can't tell anyone what I just told you. You're the only two who know. If three or more people learn about it then the world will destabilise. That makes it quite possible that the world will be destroyed without having to do anything, right?"

"Three or more?" Atsushi connected the dots immediately in his mind and the woman grins. That was her apprentice alright. She taught him well.

"It's up to you now," Y/n allows a true smile to spread across her face and she leans back.

"PLEASE WAIT! DAZAI-SAN!" Atsushi scrambled to meet her,

"The time has finally come," She whispers softly into the air, "Phase five of the final plan. It feels so strange really, like the night before you return to your home town."

"Man in black, why are you doing this?" Akutagawa stops her in her tracks, "Why are you so attached to this world?"

The woman shrugged and grins, laughing.

"Well true, I honestly don't care if this world gets snuffed out or anything... At least, that's what the other 'me's' in the other worlds would say," She evades his question and jumps back into open air, falling.

'But you know... This is the only world where he's alive and writing a novel. I can't let it be wiped away.'

Y/n laughs softly and slowly closes her eyes, the view of her apprentice trying to leap after her. Odasaku's face flashes in her mind for a second.

'Yes... ah yes... The time has finally come. But I do have one regret, Odasaku, I won't be able to read your novel. That's the one thing that vexes me.'

The air rushed against her as it tried to make her defy gravity. Alas, this moment was what she was expecting in the first place.

This was her end.

Ah, my dear esteemed benefactor... My proud, beautiful flower of evil.
You are truly the fairest one of all.
O magic mirror, thy wisdom I entreat... Reveal unto me the visage I seek..
You, whose image the Dark Mirror did beckon forth...
If your heart bids it, take the hand of the one reflected in the mirror.

Her eyes snap open as everything suddenly stops.

Y/n reaches out in the blank space and blinks as a person appears in front of her.

"Oho~ So this is one of the me's in one of those possible worlds, aren't you?" A deep voice echoes through the empty space and she spins around, her singular visible eye meeting her counterpart's, "And a woman at that, gosh, I never knew I could be a woman!"

"I'm a special case," She crosses her arms, "Every other version of me is a guy from what I've seen."

"Oh my... and you're a chibi~! You're the same height as good old Chuuya~ Wait... even shorter?!" Dazai bursts out laughing, "Oh goodness, do you call him chibi too when he's taller than you?"

"Hey! 158 cm isn't too short in comparison to that chibi," She crosses her arms, "And I was born into this body so it's unfortunate that I have to remain this short when everyone's all tall and whatever. Besides, being the Port Mafia Boss like this... was entertaining enough."

"Perhaps," He holds his hand out in a shrug, "I wonder if your name is different?"

"Y/n L/n," The woman replies with one hand on her hip and she smirks, "It's so much better than Osamu Dazai, don't you think?"

"If it were, you wouldn't have taken the name Dazai again, no?" Osamu Dazai from the outside world returns her look, "Y/n Dazai, has a good ring to it."

"Yeah, well, I suppose so," She relaxes, "What am I doing here?"

"You died, didn't you? I can't believe you didn't get to even commit a double suicide~" His hand was outstretched to you, "In any case, I am here to talk to you."

"There's not much we can say to each other, isn't there?" Y/n shrugs, "I've seen our shared memories and planned accordingly, this is the end of my life and you continue living yours."

"Come on now," He waits patiently, "How many opportunities do we have to talk to each other? Literally none! Aren't you curious about what will happen after the Guild and the Rats?"

"I have faith in those two just like we all do," Regardless of her words, she took his hand and allows the man to pull her up.

"Y/n, do you remember Odasaku's last words?" Her counterpart grips her hand as they walk in the void. It felt like she was walking around aimlessly beside the man yet at the same time, it was as though they were heading to a specific place. That would be impossible since she was already dead. The Port Mafia Boss wonders if this was all some sort of elaborate dream before she awakens in Hell for everything that she had done when she was still alive.

"Yes," She replies, "He told us that if we were in a world of bloodshed, we wouldn't find what we're looking for. A will to live. Whether we were on the side of evil or the one of good, nothing beyond what we expect will happen. Nothing can fill our hole of loneliness and we will wander alone for all of eternity."

"He also told us to be on the side of good, didn't he?" It was a rhetorical question, "If they were the same then we should choose to be a good person. Becoming someone who saves the weak, protects the orphans. Saving others is something wonderful."

"Why are you telling me this, Osamu?" Y/n wanted to cross her arms and her hair covers her face, "I'm dead, I can't do any of that. I was forced into the position of Port Mafia Boss after the Mimic incident. There's no way I could have followed what Odasaku wanted. Death was the only thing that could have released me from all of that, all of the work I did... All of it for Odasaku."

"Because you have a chance now, to start all over," He comes to a stop as does she, "You have an opportunity to do what Odasaku wanted us to. That's more than enough, don't you think?"

"My Odasaku wanted me dead," The woman shrugs but closes her eyes, "Tell me what's happening."

"Honestly, I have no clue either," Dazai shrugs and released her hand, "But I know this, you can start over again and live the way he wanted you to. Isn't that good enough?"

"Well—" She cuts herself off as the man rests his hand on top of the bandages on the side of her head, "What are you—"

With a tug, he pulls the bandages off her head, the fabric fluttering in the air. She meets his brown eyes with her own, both visible for all to see now. Her heart thumps.

"Okay," She agreed, "If I have the chance to start over and live the way he wanted me to, I will."

"Good," Dazai grins, "Good bye, Y/n. Be sure to lighten up, like me~"

With that, he seemed to dissipate in thin air and the woman covers her eyes from the blinding light. She supposes there was no harm in... lightening up as he put it if she could start a new life. Maybe she could try out those fun traits that she always liked when she observed people. The darkness overtook her and she collapses in the void.

"By the way," Dazai's final words echoed in the void, "Don't be surprised when you start seeing more memories of what's happening in the outside world. I guess it's the price of creating a singularity with your own ability, don't you think?"

As flame reduces even the stars to ash
As ice seals away even time itself
As great trees swallow even the sky
Fear not the power of darkness. Now- demonstrate your power.

To me. To them. To yourself. The hour grows long, and time is scarce.
Keep steady your grip, no matter what may come...

Y/n grasps at thin air the moment she awoke. It felt like she was back in that strange void again except she was sure she wasn't. Reaching up to her cheek, she pinches it harshly and winces as the pain registers in her mind. Wasn't she supposed to be dead? A fall from that height was a sure fire way to kill someone. The woman reaches out, her hand bumping against a strange wall.

"What in the world?" She furrows her eyebrows, "Where am I?"

"I better hurry up and find that uniform before someone spots me...  Urgggh... This lid weighs a ton! Try this on for size! Mya-ha!" A strange voice reached her ears and she stares at the flames that blew the wall away, "Now to grab the goods... What?! You ain't supposed to be awake!"

"I find that highly offensive," Y/n crosses her arms and steps out of... whatever it was she was in.

Decorating the walls were tall coffins. If she had to be completely honest... This really didn't seem like reality, maybe it was another version of Hell because it sure wasn't Heaven.

"Oh-ho! You got a lotta nerve ignoring me, human! The name's Grim. Believe me, you won't forget it!" The talking weasel leaps out and the woman turns around to look at it. Strangely enough, the place that she had just come out of was also a coffin. Maybe she really was dead after all, "Now gimme your uniform, and be quick about it! 'Cause if you don't...you're gonna regret it!"

"Pfft..." She immediately covers her mouth to hide her laughter, "How are you going to do that?"

"My flames are— HEY! Don't ignore me!" Grim chases after the woman who had already left the chamber.

The Port Mafia Boss thought this place was like a castle. It was almost like the building where Odasaku had his final showdown with Gide in the outside world. Come to think of it, she didn't recognise anything here either, the paintings looked antique but never existed back at home... and she would know this because she had the largest network of people as one of the main forces in Yokohoma. The woman's hand touches her right eye for a second where the bandages were supposed to be but there was nothing.

"So what happened in the void was real then," She pushes the door open and entered what appears to be a rather large library,

"Foolish human! Did you really think you could slip away from ME?" Grim bursts in after her, "Now, unless you wanna get burned to a crisp, take off that—Me-YEOW! That hurt! What gives?"

"So you want me to be naked, is that it?" A smirk comes across her face in amusement as she looks at the monster before raising an eyebrow at the tall man behind it, "My my, what a bold creature. Sorry to disappoint, but I don't exactly swing that way."

"I've found you at last. Splendid. I trust you're one of this year's new students?" He leans back with a grin, "My, were you ever eager to make your debut and bringing a poorly trained familiar with you? That is a clear violation of the school's rules."

"Hold on a sec—" Y/n was cut off by Grim's immediate protest,

"As if I'd serve some lowly human! Now lemme go!"

"Yes, yes. Rebellious familiars always say that. Do be quiet for a bit, won't you?" The man makes Grim quiet down with the lash and she blinks, "Dear me. Of all the students I've dealt with, you're the first with temerity enough to open their own gate and step out of it. Does the very notion of patience elude you? No matter. Your orientation has already begun. Let us return to the Mirror Chamber."

She finally had a name for the place she had woken up in earlier.

"I beg your pardon but I assure you I'm not a student," The woman smiles amicably, tugging at the sleeve of her black coat, "I mean..."

"You awoke in a room filled with gates, did you not? All of the students here at the campus arrived by passing through such gates," The man taps his finger on his chin, "Though they would usually be dressed in ceremonial robes and have restraint enough to wait until I open them before waking up."

"So... coffins huh? Wonder who had a strange sense of humour..." She mumbles the second half to herself,

"The design is intended to symbolize a parting with your former world and a rebirth into a new one," He spins on his heel, "But now is not the time for such prattle; you've a student orientation to attend! Go on, now. Make haste."

"Wait, tell me one thing then, where am I and who are you?" Those were actually two things but they were semantics,

"Hm? Have you not fully regained consciousness?" He stops in his tracks and turns back to look at her, "The time space teleportation must have addled your memories... Well, these things happen, I suppose. I shall explain it to you while we walk. Truly, my magnanimity is boundless."

With that, he continues on with Y/n lengthening her strides to match his. As they walk through the corridors, she saw a mirror and her reflection. She looked exactly like she did during the Mimic situation which makes her eighteen years of age now. Her head snaps up the moment the man started speaking again.

"This is Night Raven College. It is an institution for students the world over who demonstrate a rare aptitude for magic. It is the most prestigious academy of its sort in all of Twisted Wonderland and I am Dire Crowley. Having been entrusted with its care by the chairman, I serve as headmage."

"Mori-san?" Y/n blinks, having connected the similar voice to the former Port Mafia Boss' voice,

"I beg your pardon?" Crowley seemed to lean back slightly in confusion and she shakes her head,

"It's nothing," She smiles, "Nothing you need to worry about, Crowley-san."

He seemed to want to press on the matter but drops it now that they were nearing the Mirror Chamber, "In any case, only those who the Dark Mirror perceives as having a talent for magic are admitted to the college. Those who are selected are summoned to the campus through those "gates," which can appear anywhere. A black carriage bearing one such gate should have come to meet you."

"A black carriage huh?" The woman brushes a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she raises an eyebrow, "Can't say I recall such a thing."

"Oh, well..." He was thrown off guard and she enjoyed seeing his own look of confusion morphing on his face. It certainly served the man right for assuming she was to be a student in this... strange academy. For goodness sake, Y/n never even finished school in the first place. She sighs softly, taking pity on him for a moment,

"I guess I do recall a dark void like place," She says, "It was probably the carriage or something~"

"That black carriage serves to receive a student chosen by the Dark Mirror. It too bears a gate that connects to this campus. As you know, sending a carriage to meet someone on a special day is a time-honored tradition," Crowley recovers the moment the woman said that, "Now, let us attend to your orientation."

"Well, I guess it'll be fun to wreck your expectations~" Y/n grins, her smile never reaching her eyes as he threw the doors open.

Immediately, the students within the chamber fall silent at the sight of the headmage entering along with someone else following behind him.

"Now, you are the only one who has yet to be assigned a dorm. Step up to the Dark Mirror, and be quick about it. I'll watch your weasel," Crowley addressed her while Grim was struggling in his hold.

Her footsteps were light, long strides as she headed up the steps towards the mirror.

"State your name," The mirror spoke and Y/n couldn't help but stare again. Out of habit, she almost reached out to see if it was a special ability but she refrained from doing so. It wouldn't do to play all her cards now that she was in an unknown place.

"Y/n... L/n," She settles on her real name though she did whisper her surname to ensure no one else heard it. She would keep it a secret for as long as she could.

"Y/n... The nature of your soul is..." The Dark Mirror pauses, "Unclear to me."

"What did you just say?" Crowley steps up immediately,

"I sense no magical power from this one. Soundless. Colorless. Shapeless. Utterly vacant. Therefore, no dorm would be appropriate."

"That was to be expected," Y/n nodded to herself while crossing her arms, bandages peeking out of her sleeve as she does so,

"Are you suggesting that the black carriage went to receive a person who cannot even use magic? But that is absurd! The student selection process has not erred once in its century of existence! How could this have happened?" Crowley's eyes widened behind his mask at the revelation.

"Mmmph! Nnnrgggh..." Grim breaks free from the headmage's hold, "ME! Let ME have this student's seat!"

"Right? I mean, it's not like I can use magic for one and for all I know, this... creature seems to be able to do so," Y/n waves her hand dismissively at the creature, "Guess that means abilities don't exist in this world huh?"

"Not so fast, you hyperactive weasel!" Crowley immediately moves to the creature, effectively ignoring the woman's words,

"Unlike that human, I can actually use magic! So let me be a student here! Look, I'll show you! My spells're the cat's meow!"

The Port Mafia Boss immediately dropped to the ground the moment he said those words, fire immediately spewing from the creature's mouth. That definitely wasn't an ability... but to consider it magic was an entirely different situation. What kind of world was she situated in now? How exactly was she supposed to be living the way Odasaku wanted her to with all these people who didn't care about what happened to each other? With that thought in mind, she slides forward towards a boy with red eyes, using her coat to put the flames out.

"Thank you! You're a life saver!" The boy exclaims with a bright grin,

"You should look out for yourself," Y/n says before crossing her arms in the monster's direction, "Or at least, don't get harmed. I'm sure you've got people who'd worry for you if you did."

"What a nice person!" His exclamation blinded her.

He reminded her a lot of the Atsushi in the memories of the outside world. Her student then was a lot more light hearted without feeling any sort of guilt that he carried in her time. A soft smile spreads across her face unexpectedly for a split second before it disappears as though it was never there in the first place. The woman could hear idle chatter from the people around her and she spins on her heel, about to march up to the weasel and give it a piece of her mind before two students moved into action, firing off spells that weren't even possible in her world unless it was an ability. Then again, she figured she should keep an open mind... this was a different world after all.

"Off With Your Head!" One of the boys who chased after Grim exclaims and with a flash of light, a collar appears around the monster's neck,

"Ha-HA! Good show as always, Riddle. Your signature spell locks down any magic. It's quite handy. I've just GOT to have it—ah, I mean, I've just got to have respect for it," His partner claps his hands before they return to his side.

"Y/n! Was I not clear that you are expected to take responsibility for your familiar? Now discipline your—" Crowley immediately stormed up to her with crossed arms of disapproval.

"Hey hey, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that he and I didn't know each other... didn't I?" The woman couldn't remember clearly but she did know that she had to defend herself from being falsely accused,

"What's that? It isn't yours?" Crowley pauses and clears his throat, "Oh...Is that so? Then I shall have it expelled from campus. I shall even spare it from being served as dinner. My, but I AM kind. ...Someone take this away, please."

"Nooooo! Let me gooooo! You fools better remember my name! Cause I'm gonna go down in the annals of magic history! Just you wait!" Grim's fading voice echoed in her ears and Y/n brushes another lock of hair behind her ear. She wasn't used to seeing with two eyes, that's for sure,

"In a way... He's kind of similar to Akutagawa-kun," She mutters softly while scratching her cheek and blinks as her shoulder was touched, "Did you need something?"

"No, just wanted to thank you again," The boy with red eyes grins at her, "I'm Kalim Al Asim and I hope to see you around!"

"Right..." She chuckles softly, "It's my pleasure to meet you, good sir~"

"Well, that was quite the unexpected fracas. I hereby declare that orientation has concluded. Housewardens, please escort your students back to the dorms," Crowley pauses and looks around, "Hm? Come to think of it, I don't see Housewarden Draconia of House Diasomnia anywhere."

"And that surprises you? Dude's a total recluse," A guy with lion ears drawls out and Y/n blinks. It seems like there are even supernatural races here too,

"Wait a sec... Did anyone even invite him?" Kalim looks around before a boy with blond hair interrupts him,

"If you're that worried about him missing out, maybe you should have told him yourself."

"Maybe, but I don't know him too well either..." That definitely reminded her of some of her own subordinates who were always afraid to report about events in Yokohoma. Of which, she could understand. Y/n made herself an antagonistic woman who cared naught for anything that would happen after all. At least it didn't have to be that way here now.

"Ah. Just as I'd expected. I figured I'd come down and see for myself whether Malleus had made an appearance but once again, he was evidently not informed that his presence was required at an official ceremony," A new addition entered the Mirror Chamber,

"You have my sincerest apologies. I assure you, this oversight was in no way intended as a snub," The red haired boy's partner pushes up his glasses, Azul, she noted.

"I mean, you must admit, he's not exactly the easiest person to strike up a conversation with," The red haired boy remarks. Y/n mentally jots his name down in her mind. Riddle, if she remembered correctly. He was definitely Kunikida-kun reincarnated if he ever had a version in this world. The woman hides her smile behind her hand.

"No matter. All who were assigned to House Diasomnia, follow me. I just hope he doesn't sulk about this," The boy leaves, passing her. Strangely enough, he had an old presence... though she couldn't really relate that to anyone. The woman just felt like he was someone she should keep an eye out for...

"Well, Y/n. This is a most unfortunate turn of events. I'm afraid that you will not be attending Night Raven Collage after all. Surely you realize that I cannot very well admit a student with no magical ability to my academy," Crowley turned to her with crossed arms before gesturing impatiently at the mirror, "But worry not. The Dark Mirror will see you safely home. Now, step into the gate, and visualize the place you whence you came."

"Would this be a bit too late to say that the last thing I can remember was dying?" Y/n rolled her eyes before stepping up the mirror, her mind visualising the one place that had given her happiness, Bar Lupin.

"O Dark Mirror! Return this soul to where it belongs!"

"..." The Dark Mirror didn't respond,

"L-let us, er...try this again. O Dark Mirror! Return this soul—" Crowley cleared his throat,

"There is no such place," The Dark Mirror deadpanned immediately,

"Well... I guess my counterpart was right then," Y/n mutters to herself with a sigh,

"What?"

"There is no place in this world where this soul belongs. None." The Mirror fell silent after that,

"How can that be? My, but today is a veritable cavalcade of impossible phenomena!" He spread his arms out dramatically, "This has never happened throughout my long tenure. I must confess that I am at something of a loss. Tell me: From what land do you hail?"

"Yokohoma, Japan," The woman replies, "Specifically the Port Mafia Headquarters in the middle of the city if you wanted more information."

"I'm afraid I am not familiar with such a place. I am intimately acquainted with the origins of every student who has ever come here, and yet... This mysterious homeland of your eludes me. Let us go to the library and look it up, shall we?"

"I don't think you'll find anything on it," Y/n states, "I believe it's in a completely different world to this one, but it'd probably be good to get confirmation from the books here, right?"

"Yes, to the library then!" He shot her a strange look before leading the woman towards the library, leaving the rest of the students to start heading to their new dormitories. Part of her does wonder about where exactly all of this would lead to but perhaps she'll be able to find some sort of worth in living by surrounding herself with the people of this academy... or something like that. It would be a pleasant enough adventure if she has her way with it.

Twisted Wonderland Corner:

  • Crowley has certain suspicions on what kind of a person Y/n is. From being so calm the moment they woke up to the present, he could tell that they definitely weren't normal... in comparison to his students anyways.
  • Kalim definitely likes Y/n and is rather grateful they helped him out when his clothes were on fire thanks to Grim.
  • Grim thinks Y/n is extremely weird for a human... or at least, she's completely different from the regular types he's heard about.
  • The Housewardens make a mental note to keep an ear out to see what will happen next with this weird person.
  • Leona has his own suspicions on Y/n, thinking they're a woman due to her scent.
  • Lilia senses something from her, but he can't tell what it is nor figure out why she seemed so familiar yet so different at the same time. He makes a note to keep an eye on her.
  • The Dark Mirror acknowledges Y/n Dazai nee L/n is a dangerous woman but a pinnacle of change to the students of Night Raven College.
  • Osamu Dazai was shocked to see that there was a version of him who was female. He notes that they are one and the same yet completely different at the same time.

Notes:

Hope this was enjoyable! I got into the main story of Twisted Wonderland along with all the other characters so I thought to give them some love this way!

See you in the next world!
