Perfect Balance

Summary:

Usagi wants to join the dance team. Seiya comes up with a dance routine just for her. They're in love.

Notes:

I wrote this fic for my wife when I was going out of town and wouldn't have access to talk with her for a few days. I preset an email a day to keep her company and this was in one one of them. She wanted me to post it here because she said there aren't enough SeiUsa Fanfics. So here it is!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Seiya had been working so hard at American football that she was going to soon be leaving for regionals. Usagi was devastated by the idea that, if she won, Seiya would soon after be leaving for Osaka to compete at the next level. The team was good. Seiya was good. Really good. Usagi was proud of her but didn't want to be parted from Seiya. The only thing she could think to do was try out for the dance team.

The dance team was permitted to travel to away games to build motivation for the American football team. She had tried out for the dance team the previous year. It was already an interest of hers. She loved how gracefully the dancers moved through their songs. The girls looked so beautiful and seemed to be having so much fun!!! But there was only one problem... the reason she hadn't made it past the first cut of tryouts the previous year... Usagi was super clumsy.

At her last audition, she had tripped on her own feet three times before faceplanting half way through the dance sequence.

This year, those auditioning were able to bring in their own dance number to show off their skills. All Usagi needed was some help to get her moves and balance to match the excitement of her heart.

Enter: Seiya Kou. A musician with experience in dancing on stage. She had offered to help Usagi learn to dance.

Seiya had booked the school music room to use for their practice.

"Let's start with some warm-ups," Seiya suggested. She showed Usagi some typical dance warm-ups like side stretches and wide legged forward folds. After showing each example, she would stand behind Usagi and adjust her balance, arms, and legs to the best possible placement.

"Alright, time for the routine. I choreographed one just for you. It only travels one step at a time and mainly focuses on arm and hip movements. Here's how it starts."

Seiya demonstrated a move. She looked so confident and graceful! Usagi didn't know if she could match it. History told her she wouldn't be able to.

Seiya then moved to stand behind Usagi, hands on each side of her waist, waiting in case she might lose her balance. But she didn't.

Their practice session went on like this. Seiya demonstrating the next move, or reviewing a string of of moves, and standing behind Usagi, who never came to need her support since the dance moves were so suited to her. As the routine went on, the moves would build on the previous move's techniques and Usagi found herself doing more and more complicated and advanced looking moves. But no matter how far Seiya pushed her, Usagi found herself being able to execute each and every one.

Seiya gave Usagi some simple styling tips for more attitude here. A sharper accentuation there, some ideas for keeping interesting facial expressions.

When Seiya could see Usagi had learned the whole routine, she removed her hands from their "just in case" location on her waist and watched Usagi do it all without knowing Seiyas hands were not there.

"Great job Usagi!!! You did it without my hands there for support!"

"Yayyy!" Usagi jumped up excitedly, wrapping her arms around Seiya's neck.

Seiya chuckled and wrapped her arms around Usagi's waist, lifting her in a big hug. Then she set Usagi down and walked in front of her, taking a seat in a chair centered in front of her. She started the song from the beginning. "Let me see the whole thing."

"Ok!" Usagi said excitedly, moving into place. She gave it her all, stepping and moving with attitude, giving some smiles and some sassy looks, accentuating her moves where Seiya had recommended.

Seiya smiled proudly, enjoying her choreography brought to life in such a cute and sassy way by the person she loved.

The music faded away and Usagi took her ending pose.

"That was amazing Usagi!! You did it all and you didn't fall once!" She stood up, clapping for Usagi who ran into her arms. Just before arriving into Seiya's arms, however, Usagi tripped on her own foot, fear entering her eyes. Seiya sprung into action, wrapping her arms around Usagi and pulling her in, as she fell back onto the chair.

They both blinked, frozen... Usagi's lips pressed tightly to Seiya's as Seiya held her form tightly, Usagi now seated on Seiyas lap with her legs draped to one side.

Usagi broke the kiss with a blush on her cheeks and a giggle on her lips. "I ALMOST made it without falling... thanks again for your help Seiya."

Seiya blushed in return and smiled sheepishly. "You technically made it through the whole dance without falling. You... did a really good job! Just maybe don't hug the team captain after you finish..."

Usagi smiled and kissed Seiya again, on purpose this time. Here, held by Seiya, sitting on her lap, with Seiya's choreography running through her mind, she felt something she rarely did.

Perfectly balanced.

Notes:

I also write the scripts to Seiya Roleplay ASMR videos voiced by my wife. If you enjoyed this fic, you might like this one that also shows Seiya's sweet side.
