Chapter Text
Funneh wiped her brow on the back of her hand. Breathing heavily, she lowered her iron ax on the humid forest floor next to a basket full of dark oak and spruce wood. Her dirt caked hands brushed against her sides of a pair of light blue denim shorts.
She bent down and lifted the basket up to her chest. Pulling the bamboo straps over her slim showing Shoulders. Funneh let out a shuddering breath, picking up her ax mostly used to the brim, she followed out to the trail back to Her and their families home.
Passing along were rabbits skittering off and crows perching up top the spruce trees surrounding the area.
Funneh saw her home in the distance, it was built into the mountains, bamboo growing next to and over the house. She passed the sheep pen, one of the sheep which was one of the few big horned sheep.
Funneh cooed, softly petting the fur of the sheep with delicate touch.
“Funneh! Did you bring enough wood for the Winter?” Gold hollowed out, making the sheep run to the corner of the pen. Funneh smiled sweetly at her Sister, strolling up to the doorstep and shuffling the basket off her shoulders.
Putting the ax to the side. She said, “Yea. I think so, how's Rainbow doing?” Gold softened her gaze on Funneh.
“She's doing better. Still having trouble with holding most things and is coughing more than usual. But Draco said that Rainbow’s gonna be fine.”
Funneh sighed. ”Well, okay. Can you bring the Basket over to Lunar and ask if she needs anything for her potions?” she handed over the basket while Gold grunted.
She stepped back while her heels clinked against the floor, she thanked Gold and turned around, Closing and locking the dark oak door with the key she had, she shutted the shutters on the window door and walked into the kitchen where he met his younger brother, Draco.
He was making the rabbit stew for Rainbow, mixing the stew with carrots and some beetroot— He greeted Funneh, The exhausted look on his face made her crease her eyebrows.
She tapped on her brother's shoulder and lightly pushed him out of her way. She picked up the steaming bowl with her gloved hands and cooed to her brother that she’ll bring it over to their sick sister.
Draco huffed. Looking at Funneh with a displeased expression. He didn’t say anything while she walked past him, pretending to not notice the look of his brother.
She opened the door lightly with her shoe, peeking inside to make sure that she didn’t scare Rainbow. She looked sickly, dark pale eye bags under her eyes. Her hair was put up in a bun that was loosely about to come off. Her hand twitched and she looked over to see Funneh holding the steamy bowl in her hand,
“hey funneh. Come on in, how’s everyone doing so far—” She coughed.
Lifting her head and shaking to sit up. Funneh walked near her bedside table and placed the bowl near her reach. She put a feathery kiss on her forehead. sighed, and said,
“Everyone is fine. The dogs are doing great, but Draco worked himself to exhaustion. I was thinking of asking Lunar about getting a more rare potion to help you with getting rid of the fever more easily.” She said, playing with her sister's hair slightly more before gathering the pillows that were left lying on the cold floor.
Placing those pillows behind her back she pushed Rainbow back a bit more and walked out of the room before quickly returning with a tray, a glass of cold water and a small bowl of different kinds of fruits that Rainbow cherished in the hot summers and the warm spring.
Carefully setting the tray onto her lap she held the bowl and placed it into the tray where Rainbow can get without doing much of getting up.
She kissed her sister's head one last time before she walked to the door. Turning her head to see Rainbow nibbling on a piece of a sugary strawberry,
“holler if you need anything. I’ll be out in the kitchen in case you want to be out of your room.” She said, her sister nodded.
Snuggled up into the pillows and blankets Funneh smiled. Walking out of her room and closing the door she headed out into the kitchen where she saw gold resting in a chair.
She saw funneh and waved her over, gesturing to sit down next to her. She looked over to see Lunar working on her newest potion.
Sighing, she walked over and plopped herself next to gold. “How’s Draco doing?” Funneh questioned quietly, Gold chuckled softly. “I scolded him for not taking enough breaks and forced him to go take a long nap.” Funneh smiled once again. “Did it work?”
“Yep.” Gold lifted her hand and checked her nails. “Lunar said that she might need some more nether warts, some ghast tears and a bit of red stone if there is any near our area. But she is practically good until winter ends.”
Funneh groaned. “Nether warts are tough to find. I still need to fix my gear to go out in the nether and probably won’t be much left in the shops because they take a long time to grow.”
“I think we could still get the red stone and ghast tears. I don’t think Lunar will mind that much of having no nether warts for the winter— It just means that we’ll have to find another way of making healing pots or spread them out in weeks so we can save some.” Funneh sighed.
“I’ll see early in the morning if there’s any left in the shops.”
Gold nodded. “Oh, bring Draco and Rainbow. They’ll need to be out some more until the cold picks up. They need some fresh air.”
“What will you and Lunar do when we're out?”
“Oh I’ll come, I have to help Rainbow and Lunar has to make sure that you will get enough items and get some other stuff too.”
“Oh. So basically everyone is going with me.” Funneh looked at gold with a tired expression.
“Yeah. Now go, it’s getting late and we have to get up early tomorrow.” Gold shooed Funneh out of her chair and into her bedroom. She then closed the door behind Funneh, turning on the light and heading to the bathroom where her pajamas were left near the floor.
she picked them up and closed the bathroom door, quickly changing out of the shorts and sighing in relief of the comforting fabric that loosely hung over her hips.
Funneh grabbed the brush with her left hand and softly brushed her blue raspberry hair.
Brushing out the knots and placing down near the sink, she picked up her blue toothbrush and slathered some toothpaste onto it. Turning the sink tab on before turning it off quickly, she scrubbed her teeth and counted two minutes in her head.
Funneh spat out the toothpaste water and filled a cup near her with water. Drinking it and gurgling until she spat the water out again. She wiped her mouth with a hand towel and turned off the lights to the bathroom before opening the door and flopped onto the soft bed.
She snuggled into the covers, closing her eyes to the sound of. The trees rustling and the crickets chirping quietly in the background.
She was long gone when gold gathered the tray of leftovers from Rainbow and placed it in the sink.
Gold sighed.
She wiped a tear and soon walked over to her own bedroom. Shutting the door and locking it.
[In another world an election was going to take place.
A man and a young boy were going to lose the right to step in their own country.
Soon war will break out,
and it wasn’t going to be a pretty sight for any longer.]
POEM
[There's a little boy standing by the fence with a flag in his hand.
He's sad and confused; he doesn't understand.
He watches his brother turn and head up on the bus.
He watches him go and doesn't even fuss.]
