Fate/Extra CCC:
I have collected here all the Kiara’s significant appearances in CCC. Each video link has a descriptor of its contents; descriptions in bold indicate particularly important moments. When interpreting these clips, please keep in mind that throughout the main game, Kiara is intentionally cultivating a compelling, complex, but fundamentally flawed and deeply misleading understanding of herself. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE WHAT SHE HERE SAYS AT FACE VALUE! There are a lot of textually unsupported readings of Kiara as a character bouncing around the English speaking Fate fandom, largely because the relative unavailability of CCC Ending
If you want the quickest possible route to having a good grasp on Kiara’s character, Fate/Extra CCC (Sakura Route) True End Route Part 2 (first twelve minutes only) and Fate/Extra: CCC - Hans and Kiara's love talk [English Subs] are the two most important resources for understanding her.
CCC Main Game
The person we have most to thank for making CCC translations available is capellaaurigae, who did a translate-along playthrough of the game from Jun 19 of 2013 to March 28th of 2017. I owe this person a huge debt of gratitude for the extraordinary effort they put in making the text of this game available; I don’t think my own fic, or indeed most of the research I’m going to include here, would have happened without this resource. For our purposes, if you want to filter just for entries that contain Kiara, use the “highly suspect nuns” tag. Very cool.

The other major player here is the wonderful ZVN, who has recorded a playthrough of most of CCC in watchable format and captioned it over with capellaaurigae’s translation. This provides a way to read the story while also getting a sense of setting, voice acting, and action, and it’s what I will be referencing wherever possible in this section of the guide. I will link episodes that include Kiara, and provide an explanation of what kind of information can be found in each.

Kiara’s introduction, doing the ditzy fanservice big titty nun act before everything goes south. Eyeroll-worthy on first playthrough: chilling in context.
Fate/Extra: CCC Part 11 - Scouting: Jinako, Kiara, and Andersen [English Subs]
Kiara’s first genuine introduction as herself in CCC. This part shoes has a very particular way of thinking about the world that can be hard to fully grasp—a fairly common trait among important Nasuverse characters—but the one thing you can be sure about is her kindness. Right?

A demonstration of Kiara’s codecasts (the Five Thought-Stopping Meditation and Ten Thousand-Colored Stagnation) in action, as they will be used through the rest of the game.

Fate/Extra: CCC Part 41 - The Little Mermaid [English Subs]
An important scene about the Kiara narrative. Hans describes his philosophy about writing. A great example of the dynamic between them, too. At 15:08, we hear Andersen’s summary of Kiara, and the first peak at her past—or one angle on it, at least—and some more details on Tachikawa Eiten-ryu and her perspective on life. He’s describing her acts as foolish, selfish, disgusting, but she does seem truly altruistic.

Another episode of book club with Hans and Kiara. This one is less important, but no less fun. Hans has some pretty pithy things to say about BDSM and love. Slight cw for discussions of suicide at the beginning, and fatphobia at the end with Jinako.
Fate/Extra: CCC Part 54 - Everyone Loves Kiara [English Subs]
Another critically important Kiara detail. This is the first real hint that something is terribly wrong with her. This is the first discussion of her cult, and her followers killing themselves.

And here’s the last very important Kiara moment until the True Ending. Her facade starts to crack, and it becomes evident that, in Hakuno’s words, she is “a holy woman and a witch” who leads people astray. Lots of characterization of Kiara’s real self comes out here, and her story begins to make sense. Of course, even this isn’t the full story. Incidentally, this is Melt kills Kiara, unless you have completed all the prerequisites for the True Ending…

Fate/Extra: CCC True Route Part 15.5 - Alternate Chapter 7 Intro [English Subs]
CCC True Ending:
As an endgame True Ending twist villain, CCC’s True Ending is the section where Kiara gets the majority of her clarifying development and the twist of her character is fully revealed—something critical with Kiara, who elsewhere lies, misleads, or otherwise encourages dangerously incorrect interpretations of her beliefs and behavior whenever she provides them. As a result, this section is critical for understanding her. I cannot stress this enough: if you get your perspective on Kiara only from content outside the true ending you will end up with a warped understanding of the character. The context provided by her behavior here is crucial for understanding her true character.
Unfortunately, the initial translated playthrough of the game by the wonderful capellaaurigae did not include the CCC Ending (aka the True Ending), so we don’t have a single unified translation of this portion of the game, nor do we have complete footage from ZVN. Additionally, reaching this ending requires two playthroughs, so many of the people who have uploaded various clips of the game to the English-speaking internet over the years do not include this part of the game. As a consequence, translations and even raw footage of this section of the game are much harder to come by, and what does exist comes in bits and pieces.
I have managed to track down footage of most of it, though there might be some gaps. I’ve arranged things in chronological order, with some explanations that should help piece things together. If you are confused at all, leave a comment and I’ll do my best to help: alternatively, if you have a better source or a translation for a part that appears here in raw, please let me know so this can be updated.
Unfortunately, the entire segment on Kiara’s history and her backstory does not have a readily available translation, so your best bet if you can’t read the language is machine TLs: I will update this section to include MTLs I’ve done as soon as I have the opportunity.
The material in the “Hans and Kiara’s love talk” video, which covers an optional look into their dying moments, is an extremely important piece to the character, and if you intend to depict Kiara (or Andersen, for that matter) I strongly recommend you take a look at this. It does deal with the definitions of “ai” and “koi”, japanese words describing concepts of love that don’t have a direct translation into English: I encourage you to interpret it for yourself, and I will include some links to definitions of those words in the secondary source section (chapter 3), but I will also include my own interpretation in chapter 4 of this resource.
Fate/Extra CCC (Sakura Route) True End Route Part 1
This untranslated segment covers Kiara’s climactic villain reveal in the CCC route, and I believe (and will check) an explanation of her grand plan from the beginning as well.
Fate/Extra CCC (Sakura Route) True End Route Part 2
This is it: the single most necessary piece of information for understanding Kiara… and it’s untranslated. (though I will post some machine translations and a translation my friend made when I have the opportunity). The first 12 minutes of the video provides the only fully accurate account of Kiara’s history, life, and childhood, and shows how and why Kiara believes what she does, alongside laying out her fundamental beliefs in reliable narration.
[Fate/EXTRA CCC] Hans and Kiara - Gilgamesh Final Battle part 1 (with English Subs)
This section is the final confrontation between Hakuno and Kiara, who has taken control of the Moon Cell, and reveals why she did it and what her plans are to someone who knows fully what she is.

This is the post-battle dialogue after defeating Kiara, discussing her blindness to love and why she lost despite being a god.

And this is another necessary piece for understanding Kiara: hers and Hans’s final moments, in which she asks him to explain the difference between Ai and Koi. Like I mentioned in the second header, I will post resources to interpret the scene and my own interpretation when I have the chance.
