Mors Vincit Omnia

Summary:

Mors vincit omnia - Latin for "death conquers all."
Loosely based on (and my own interpretation and retelling) of the Dark Urge playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3.

Alternatively known as: I do not know who I am, I don't know why I'm here, all I know is I must kill.

Chapter 1: PROLOGUE -- The Immortal Fiend

Chapter Text

The Immortal Fiend

Long ago lived an elf,
who was truly quite full of himself.
Didn’t want to meet death,
so with his final breath,
he summoned a beast for help.

The beast made a pact with this friend,
who was scared of reaching his end.
A contract was made,
the price was paid
which allowed the elf to ascend.

His body and mind were changed
into something quite evil and strange.
With each killing blow
new life would be bestowed,
it seemed like the perfect exchange.

The elf no longer would fret,
for every time he was near death,
he’d sap from the living
and with each new killing
he’d be given a new year of breath.

At first he mourned the loss
of every new body they tossed.
But with each blood eruption
caused more corruption
Nothing mattered, not even the cost.

Nothing could kill this foe,
not even a powerful blow.
For he will outlive
the most determinative.
his terror would only grow.

One day he made a mistake,
better for everyone’s sake.
The powerfully armed
finally could harm
and the immortal fiend did ache.

He was taken and kept underground,
by strong magic then he was bound.
He no longer prevailed
and thus ends the tale
of the bloodthirsty, murdering hound.
