Work Text:
Alicent blinked.
Slowly, she came to her senses. A groan of protestation escaped her lips when the pale rays of sunlight filtering through the window forced her to open her eyes, finishing to wake her from her slumber. She could hear faint conversations from the street below, the humming of birds synonym with early morning and the familiar sound of cars, a little further away.
It took her a moment to figure out what had prompted her body to wake her, before a few shivers shook her shoulders. The mornings were still cold, despite summer already well on its way, and Alicent had woken up on one side of the bed, tangled in the covers and without the usual weight of a familiar body keeping her warm.
Light snores next to her ear told her Rhaenyra was still dreaming, and caused a loving smile to stretch her lips at the thought.
Rhaenyra had always been a heavy sleeper. Never waking up on time, especially when it was the week end, and inevitably late no matter what appointment they had that day. Alicent had gotten used to try all sorts of techniques to drag her out of bed, from gentle kisses to cold water dumped without warning, to no avail. Strangely, it was only on Saturdays that Rhaenyra had been waking up early in the last few weeks. Without any kind of alarms and as soon as she could sense movement, every Saturday without failing, she magically stirred. It had nothing to do with the fact that Alicent had to leave early that day to catch the bus, then make her way into the city for her internship.
Surely nothing, absolutely nothing to do with it.
And like clockwork, as soon as she moved with the intent to get out of bed and close the window, strong arms appeared out of nowhere and wrapped themselves around her as a warm body enveloped her into a tight embrace, their bodies perfectly melting into each other with the practised ease of a movement done times and times before.
A face buried itself in her neck, lips blowing hot air on her skin as Rhaenyra’s hands rested on her stomach, possessively making sure she wasn’t going anywhere. The shivers that took possession of Alicent’s body then had nothing to do with the chilly morning air. She sighed in comfort and instinctively relaxed in Rhaenyra’s arms. Fingers started to trace invisible patterns on her skin, light and teasing, waking a different kind of craving deep in her gut.
“I was only gonna close the window,” Alicent chuckled, fondness and gentle exasperation mixing in her tone.
Rhaenyra simply held her closer, smiling against her shoulder in contentment. “I’m here now.”
And how Alicent would have loved to stay in the same position all morning, letting seconds and minutes tickle by in an endless loop, nothing to do and nowhere to be but in her lover’s arms. But the clock on the wall was letting her know she had little time to get ready before her bus turned the corner of their street, and she had never been late to her internship before. Today wasn’t the day she was going to start, much to Rhaenyra’s protests.
“You know I have to go, love.” Alicent whispered with amusement, her breathing hitching slightly when fingers started to draw figures closer to the lower part of her stomach.
She could feel a pout forming on Rhaenyra’s face.
“No.”
She made a false attempt to get up and a plaintive whimper immediately echoed in her ear. A leg curled itself around her waist. Alicent closed her eyes again. Truly, she couldn’t imagine what heaven would possibly look like, if it wasn’t where she was just now.
“No?”
Rhaenyra shook her head, slightly.
“No.”
They stayed like that for a few more moments, fleeting, simply savouring each other’s presence. Suddenly nothing seemed to matter but the feeling of the other’s skin, their breaths and the prospect of a day without tasks to get done and things to be ticked off of to-do lists.
It seemed reaching the last few years of their studies and constantly being under the stress of final papers, exams, internships and grades had provoked more weariness than they were both willing to admit. Rhaenyra had spent almost every evening studying past midnight in the library the month before, only reluctantly coming home one time out of two when Alicent finally decided to taunt her with a hot shower, a warm meal and the promise of something far more enticing than what she was allowed to say out loud in a place full of students. Late nights with only books for company, notes of classes still up on every surface of the apartment, ready meals and word counts had rhythmed their days for weeks. Even though Laena had somehow managed to convince them to go out a couple of times, they were far too rare to truly release all the tension boiling inside.
Alicent couldn’t blame her girlfriend for wanting a morning all to themselves.
For a blissful instant she imagined calling in sick and leaving Harwin in charge of managing the younger interns, giving in for once to the tantalising dream of a peaceful Saturday. But if Rhaenyra was indeed officially in holiday, it wasn’t her case yet.
She turned her head to the side. “I have to get up.”
A displeased grunt was the only answer for a while. Alicent playfully nudged her in the ribs, forcing her to move back a few centimetres.
“Why did my girlfriend have to be this great and get this amazing internship at the best architect’s company of the country?” Rhaenyra finally complained in a needy tone, whining with a voice as dramatic as she could summon. “If you had decided to leave us, common mortals, a chance maybe then I could have a Saturday morning without being ripped away from the one I need to breathe.”
Alicent buried her face in a pillow to hide the blush tainting her cheeks at the praise.
At the same time, a treacherous hand began making its way lower and lower as a warm mouth trailed kisses across her neck and shoulders. The effect, as always, was immediate. Desire shot through her and pooled at her gut, electrifying. She breathed in deeply when dexterous fingers finally reached where she wanted them the most, making her release a shallow whimper.
“Oh, Gods” she whispered pathetically, squeezing her eyes shut.
It had barely been a day or two – though, if she asked Rhaenyra, a few days would easily qualify as an eternity – and her body had already made the decision to betray her.
“I didn’t hear you, what was it you needed to do again?” Alicent rolled her eyes at Rhaenyra’s teasing.
She found herself unable to respond when a thumb expertly stroked her clit, provoking another muffled moan.
Any thought of getting out of the bed was thrown out the window the moment Rhaenyra brought her hand to Alicent’s breast and began to fuck her in agonising but delicious slow movements, relishing in the way the other woman melted instantly under her touch. Soon, Alicent was a mess. Trembling, holding onto Rhaenyra and begging for release, threats and whines mixing in desperate attempts to reach her peak.
Her skin was on fire everywhere Rhaenyra touched and yet it was never enough. There was something familiar building in her lower belly, and she could feel it rising higher and higher, and she would have done anything, anything for it to finally come crashing down and take her down with it. But it kept rising with each filthy word Rhaenyra whispered in her ear, each stroke of her touch and each attentive caress, until her body was tensing up and her breaths were ragged and she could no longer speak, her whole being summarised in the wait of the fall.
“You’re doing so well, darling, look at you,” Rhaenyra cooed in her ear. “Barely awake and already so eager. You love this, don't you?”
Alicent huffed. And just as deft fingers sank into her and deliciously hit that spot within her in just the right way, making her choke on her own saliva and throw her head back in pleasure, her eyes caught the time displayed on the clock.
Her bus.
She had five minutes before her bus.
And then, a fight like no one had seen before raged inside of Alicent. Torn between duty and pleasure, a merciless war took place in the next following seconds, a war with no prisoners and no white flags, leaving nothing but misery in its trail. Finally, full of agony, tears appearing at the corner of her eyes, Alicent gathered every bit of strength she possessed and pushed back Rhaenyra.
She almost screamed in frustration.
A questioning stare met hers, worry replacing lust. It seemed she wasn’t the only one so affected she had forgotten all about obligations, clients waiting for her and buses to catch.
“My bus,” she panted while getting up with shaky legs, struggling to find her breath.
She hastily dressed herself, and winced when her underwear stuck to the completely soaked skin of her inner thighs, bringing a hand to instinctively soothe the maddening ache that was left unattended.
“I hate you,” she grumbled, pointing an accusative finger at Rhaenyra who was still sitting on the bed and looking at her with displeasure and amusement blending in her violet eyes. So lost, so similar to a puppy left without its favourite meal. “I just want you to know, that right now, I absolutely hate you.”
And Alicent practically ran to the door, grabbing her keys, her bag and her coat on the way and wishing she could obliterate Rhaenyra’s smirk as she did.
“I love you too, have a nice day at work!” the words reached her ears as she slammed the door shut. Not thinking, she punched the wall next to the door in frustration.
The pain that immediately exploded in her fist made her regret her gesture, but it was too late to do anything about it.
Alicent absolutely loved architecture; she really did. Yet, in this very instant, she wanted nothing more than to throw away all her books, give a finger well deserved to her superiors and grab Rhaenyra by her neck to obtain the orgasm she so desperately needed.
However, she did none of that as she ran down the stairs and arrived just on time to get in a bus so crowded, she barely had the space to squeeze in. Still red, panting and uncomfortably sticky between her thighs, Alicent bit her lip when her cunt clenched around nothing. Trying to conciliate the peaceful heaven filled with warm embraces, violet eyes and exquisite pleasure she had just left to the busy day she was about to have, Alicent frowned and let out a long sigh.
She would get through it, and then… Well then, let’s just say no amount of begging would save Rhaenyra for what she had in store for her.
***
“It’s not like that. You have to do it again, and to follow the procedures this time. Highlight the zones of coastal erosion and indicate those on which we can build. Do you understand? It’s not that complicated if you actually try to do it properly.”
Alicent’s commanding voice chilled the younger interns listening to her instructions, and they rapidly gathered the papers of their attempted project before leaving the room, nodding eagerly to get away from her severe eyes.
She shook her head in irritation.
A light chuckle made her turn around abruptly, and she gave a cold stare to an amused Harwin.
“Ah, am I your next target? Are you gonna lecture me like those poor students barely out of first year?” he joked, leaning on his desk and playing with a discarded report he no longer needed.
Alicent shrugged. “It’s like they do it on purpose. I told them what to do, and they still managed to mess it up,” she tried to justify before sitting at her own desk, too tensed to relax.
Harwin folded the corners of the report, slowly turning it into a small paper plane.
“What did Rhaenyra do, this time? Took your keys? Forgot the dishes?” he casually asked, squeezing his eyes in concentration to better finish his creation.
It was aggravating, sometimes, how he picked up on everyone’s mood the moment he entered a room. Some people only cared for themselves and their own whims but Harwin was certainly not amongst them. And it was usually a nice thing to be able to count on him during the times Alicent was too stressed out to focus properly.
They had met during second year, when most students had already given up on their studies due to the demanding lecturers and hard exams, with little time outside of papers to hand in and classes to attend. The small number of students left at that time had naturally grown close. And Harwin had always been there to crack a joke to relieve the tension or bring an extra coffee when it was clear someone had stayed awake all night.
But Alicent had to admit she would have preferred to simmer in her own resentment without any external distractions.
“Rhaenyra didn’t do anything.” Her head fell between her hands when she remembered her girlfriend’s teasing touch. She could almost feel it on her skin.
Alicent had tried to focus all morning. Really, she had tried. She had spoken with a couple in their sixties, with more money on their hands than they knew what to do and more time now that their children were out of the house. They had gone on and on about their plans for their new property, and during that time, she had held it all together. Or so she would have liked to believe. She had then digitalized all her reports, sent emails, and supervised the younger interns under her care. Or rather, walked around like anyone on her way would meet an instant death, and sent menacing stares to anyone who dared to speak to her.
Not that she would admit it.
And the stupid need in her stomach hadn’t gone away, no matter how much she had wished that it would. And everywhere, Rhaenyra’s touch, her scent, her eyes blazing with lust and silver hair in a lazy braid, a blush on her cheeks and lips parted. She was craving it, everything.
So yes, maybe Alicent was frustrated. But there was nothing to do about it. Absolutely nothing.
“Alicent.” Harwin’s voice brought her back to reality. He was looking at her as if he was waiting for her to figure something out. Finally, he crooked an eyebrow and waved a finger in her general direction. “You’re wearing a shirt that says Shh Daddy’s drinking. You’d rather die than wear something like that.”
She looked down to read the saying on Rhaenyra’s shirt, waiting for the ground to open up and swallow her whole so she wouldn’t have to deal with any more things this cursed day would throw at her.
“I think the fact that you seem ready to murder someone was the only thing stopping the freshmen from laughing,” he added with mirth.
She inhaled.
“I wasn’t very nice to them, was I?”
Harwin added the finishing touches to the paper plane, clearly proud of his work. “Well, they’ll recover. I just wouldn’t wanna be the cause of your irritation, because it’s clear whatever Rhaenyra’s up to, she’s not been doing enough if you’re this tense.”
Alicent slumped in her chair, no resistance left.
“I think I’ve just been a bit stressed out lately," she let out. “I just need to find a way to release the tension, and I’ll be fine.”
Harwin nodded, smirking. Alicent looked up, then rolled her eyes, done with whatever he was trying to tell her.
“Well,” he started in a light tone. “If I was you, I’d do that as soon as I can. And you know, get back to work with a fresh mind”.
At that, Alicent found nothing to say.
She could, technically speaking, do that. It would save the second part of her day, and even maybe turn out to be the solution to her problems. She had, after all, two hours for lunch. More than enough time to go back to their apartment and come back, with minutes to spare. Laena would typically call her and propose lunch in whichever small restaurant she fancied on that day, and they would take a walk around afterwards, exchanging tips and gossips. Or she would sit by Harwin on the rooftop with a book on her lap while he chatted non sense, and quietly take the time to calm her mind.
But she knew none of that would work. Her reasoning led her to stand up, animated with a newfound energy.
“It seems you're right, for once” she declared, grabbing her bag and coat in a determined movement.
Harwin sent the paper plane her way, rising his eyebrows in a silent question, and she set it on her desk, then turned around.
“Guess that means I’ll have lunch with Laenor,” he laughed. “Say hi to Rhaenyra for me.”
She had already left the room.
The way back was a blur. A hasty walk through the business district, zigzagging between men in suits and vendors, then a blissful ride on an almost empty bus, except for some middle schoolers skipping their afternoon lessons, if Alicent was to believe their naïve bragging. And finally, a familiar apartment complex, silent in the early afternoon.
Alicent climbed the stairs two by two and took a few seconds to find her key, agitated, before opening the door. She walked in on Rhaenyra fresh out of the shower, a strawberry donut half way eaten between her lips and a dumbstruck expression on her face, looking at her like she was an apparition. Her silver hair was slightly wavy and still wet, a scent of cinnamon was floating in the air and Alicent was incapable of imagining anything more perfect than what she had in front of her.
“Ali?” Rhaenyra tried to say, still chewing on her donut. “Aren’t you supposed to be on your lunch break?”
And Alicent gave in.
She walked up to her girlfriend, grabbed the donut and threw it behind her without a care in the world. The outraged look on Rhaenyra’s face morphed into ravenous lust when Alicent grabbed her by the neck and kissed her roughly. She tasted sweet, strawberry and a touch of lemon – she had again borrowed Alicent’s favourite toothpaste.
Alicent almost let out an embarrassingly needy whine when Rhaenyra’s hands wrapped around her waist, surrounding her with warmth and love and attention all over again. Her presence was intoxicating, and it had been a while since she had needed to be around her in that way. Just like the beginning, when they were all over each other; sitting on each other’s laps, holding hands under the table, always a lingering kiss or a tender caress.
Today, Alicent felt like that again.
They parted, both trying to catch their breath.
“Yeah, I left. Something I forgot.” She insisted on the words, biting her lower lip and staring at Rhaenyra like there was no one else in the world.
And Gods, if Rhaenyra didn’t look at her with so much longing it must have hurt, pupils so dark she could barely see purple at all.
“Now, you’re gonna be nice, and let me do what I want,” Alicent deviously whispered as she pushed Rhaenyra against the counter. "AndI’m gonna take what I came here for.”
She dropped on her knees in front of her.
In that moment, Rhaenyra stared at her in a way that destroyed her world and rebuilt it in the same breath. Alicent shivered. The pants came off, quickly followed by her underwear, and she decided not to take the time to play around. She dove right in, circling Rhaenyra’s clit with her tongue and earning a desperate moan in response.
“Oh, Ali.”
She felt Rhaenyra’s hands gather her hair and pull, and immediately caused her cunt to clench in her own underwear. She took the time to explore Rhaenyra’s folds in soft patterns, gathering the wetness and teasing, again and again, until it was now her girlfriend who was shaking and moaning in need under her touch, imploring so prettily to come.
“Ali, please…”
Chuckling, she concentrated her efforts on the small swollen nub begging for attention, and was rewarded by a sharp cry.
“Please, please, please, don't stop!”
Just as she felt her girlfriend convulsing, on the verge of her peak, Alicent moved away and stood up. Rhaenyra opened her eyes hazy with pleasure to look at her, pouting and so similar once again to a a lost puppy. She almost got back on her knees to finish what she had started at the sight, but instead wiped her mouth before leaving a tender kiss on Rheanyra’s lips.
“Gotta get back to work, I’ll see you tonight, love.”
And she was gone, leaving her girlfriend in the very same position she had been in a few hours before, so full of frustration and shock at being denied she might cry.
“Ali… Don’t leave…” The supplication was left unanswered as Alicent put the coat she had eagerly discarded back on again.
“Alicent Hightower.” This time it was angry. “I gave up on my donut for this. On my favourite donut. You better come back here and finish what you started!”
Rhaenyra stomped in her direction, half naked, surrounded by a cloud of irritation. But Alicent was already halfway through the door, grinning as she left.
“I love you too, have a nice afternoon!” And she was gone, stepping on something as she walked out and leaving an offended Rhaenyra all alone in the apartment, breathing heavily and panting, her cheeks tainted by a deep blush.
“Alicent Hightower, my donut!”
Only did Alicent later realise what she had done.
***
Alicent came home to the smell of pasta hanging in the air and the melody of classical music in the background as soon as she set foot in the apartment.
It had been a long afternoon, that then stretched into a very long evening as she had tried to make progress on the project her superior had assigned to her. She had been tasked with designing the interior of the new office of a road company, and though she was now familiar with the software, the level of professionalism and detail that was expected from her was far superior than what she had faced so far. Luckily, she sometimes had Laenor or Harwin to keep her company as they worked on their own projects, pestering about deadlines and the abhorrent taste of the coffee proposed by the machine on the first floor.
Well, it hardly mattered as soon as she got home. But today, something was out of place.
Rhaenyra had decided to cook.
She was an excellent cook (when she decided to be), the problem resided in the fact that Rhaenyra only cooked traditional recipes when she had an idea on her mind. And considering what Alicent had done to her earlier in the day – Gods, the donut – it most likely wasn’t good.
“Ah, you’re home.” Her girlfriend’s joyful tone made Alicent want to run away head first, out the door. “How was your day?”
Instead, she stepped forward and was met with hot spaghetti Bolognese, and the bottle of wine Rhaenyra had insisted to keep for special occasions. Running was no longer an option. Rhaenyra appeared with a big smile, as if it was any other night and she was simply greeting Alicent from a long day at work. But her eyes were shimmering.
“Hm,” Alicent sheepishly considered her options. “Very good. I finished a good portion of my new project.”
Rhaenyra gave her a peck on the lips and invited her to sit next to her. She did, slowly.
“That’s good, I’m so glad, love. Was it before, or after you stepped on my donut on your way out?”
And there it was.
Alicent was glad it was out in the open, at least. She inhaled deeply, fully prepared to plead her case until the last breath, but all that came out was silence. She grunted, cleared her throat.
“Well, I… You see this morning was complicated and…”
“The last strawberry donut, Alicent. Freshly baked. Out of my favourite bakery, that took me half an hour to walk to, and then half an hour to wait for the freshly baked strawberry ones. That I specially left for after my shower. That one.”
They faced each other, Rhaenyra looking down with an accusing stare at a very red Alicent. And then, she couldn’t take it anymore, she laughed. And Rhaenyra, half smiling, half still mad, started laughing with her.
“Oh darling, if it’s a donut you need, I’ll buy you as many as you want,” Alicent promised in a teasing tone as she brought a hand to Rhaenyra’s cheek and smoothed the skin under her fingers. “I swear. To the moon and back.”
“It’s not funny, Ali. If it wasn’t you, I would provoke anyone who steps on my strawberry donuts to a duel,” Rhaenyra whined, finally sitting down and allowing the smile to reach her eyes. “I promise I'll get back at you.”
Something fluttered in Alicent’s stomach, and they looked at each other, grinning like two idiots.
“I love you too, you stupid moron.”
The night was still young, and though Rhaenyra had the talent to get on her nerves, Alicent still had an orgasm to chase. And donuts to buy.
