Chapter Text
The runaways were sitting in a jailcell, after being caught by a patrol officer for vandalism
Silence.
The only noise that could be heard was the sound of a harmonica playing from Virgil... A bit dramatic, though, considering they would only be in there for a few days at most.
...
"How long have we been in here for...?" Ed suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
Virgil scratched a 5th tally mark on the wall with chalk "Uhh, 5 minutes." He shrugged
"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!" Ed got up and banged the bars with his fists "LET US OUT YOU--"
--beep--
It was silent for a few seconds...
"Who the fuck just censored me...?"
Everyone looked around confused, looking at eachother, then at the officer guarding them
The officer then held up a little button
"Gotta protect my son's ears from the criminal's profanity" The officer said proudly. His son wasn't even here.
Tye rolled his eyes while Ed looked at the man strangely, both judging him. Virgil had to lean down to Asami who was in the bunk beneath him to tell her what "profanity" meant.
It was quiet for the next few moments. Virgil ended up chatting with Asami, leaning over the rail of the top bunk. Ed seemed to be having some sort of staring contest with the officer, even if one of them blinked the "game" seemed to still continue, though sometimes one of them would have a tiny celebration after "winning" their many rounds. Tye was too busy playing with the stones chipping off the walls, putting them in formations he remembered Milagro putting her toys in. For some reason she always put the toys at war, plastic barbie dolls vs stuffed animals, but only this time it was pebbles vs stones.
A police officer walks through the door, greeting the guard.
The Guard spoke first "It's nice to meet you, sir! You must be Mr. Harper, bow hunter security?"
"That's right." Will Harper —Red Arrow— answered. "I got notified about these Runaways, they've been vandalising Reach advertisements all over our city. We'll take it from here."
"Excuse me, sir, but they belong here. We caught them, we jail them" The guard argued
Will was already starting to get annoyed. After Jaime told him about the situation, he thought to help him by bringing them where Jaime knew there was a hero nearby to keep them safe, however, the guard seems to be a stubborn piece of-...
"Oh, well, apologies, but I still have to take them, it's my job." Will said calmly
"Oh yeah? and what job is that? 911 caller? I've heard of your name but not of your status."
"Oh you're thinking about my job at bow hunter security. I'm not talking about that one." Will said, smiling.
Before the Guard could speak any further, Will knocked his lights out with a punch to the face. The teens gasped and looked at him, fearing it may be a reach worker sent to recollect them.
"Relax, Jaime sent me." Will said looking at them with a bored expression. Tye sighed in relief, though the rest still seemed wary. They hadn't met this "Jaime" person yet, at least, not the real Jaime.
Will took the guard's keys and unlocked the cell
Okay, listen. my hand is cramping so I gotta stop here. I don't want to have to save this for import so I'm uploading it before I finish it 🥲👌
Chapter 2: I'm watching Meg 2: The Trench while I write this.
Summary:
They walk around aimlessly like mindless pigeons and some other fun stuff. I tried to write Will as a more mysterious figure in this chapter cuz that's prolly how the misfits would view him here. And he's still dealing with the fact that he's a clone so... still kinda actin' like his S2 self.

Walking...
More walking...
Even more walking...
Multiple footsteps echoed through the empty streets, only cars and abandoned buildings to be seen over and over again. It felt like the same street was repeating each time, the only difference being the order of the cars and buildings.
The teens awkardly walked behind the... cop? superhero? assassin? they didn't know who he was, or what he was for that matter. They only "trusted" him because of what he could do to them if they didn't. Little did they know it was just a guy trying to repay an old friend a little favour.
"So... How d'you know Jaime?" Tye spoke up from the silence that lasted for over 2 hours at this point. Despite Tye knowing that Jaime sent the guy, he didn't know whether the dude was truly trustworthy.
"It's best I tell you when we get to where need to be. The streets have ears, no matter how empty they may seem." He spoke quietly, with a mix of confidence and, what was supposed to be hidden, anxiety.
Tye didn't say anything, mentally noting what the other had just said. Behind him though, he could hear a game of punch buggy starting between the other three.
"OW!" Virgil yelled, rubbing his arm where Ed had just punched him, he yelled loud enough to stop the entire group in their tracks and have the masked man turn to him and shush him. After the man looked around warily, he continued walking and the young delinquents followed suit.
As Ed snickered, Virgil looked at him with an annoyed expression, before turning towards asami and whispering something in her ear. Asami smiled and smacked Ed on the back of the head. She seemed to have misunderstood Virgil when he told her to "punch-buggy" Ed. (Hey, atleast her English is getting better)
The game then escalated from punch buggy to "Who-Can-Get-The-Last-Hit-In-Before-We-Reach-Our-Destination". Tye watched his friends' bafoonery behind him with a worried expression, which was quite uncharacteristic for Tye, and quite unnoticed by the rest of the teens.
"I know you're worried. They're making noise and distracting you while you tell yourself in your own mind that everything will be ok, right?" The masked stranger spoke up once they turned to walk through an alleyway.
Tye seemed a bit surprised at first. "kinda... It's just... I'm mostly worried about Jaime." He said Jaime's name with a sigh. "I never got to... uh, confess..." He thought he whispered that last sentence quiet enough for only himself to hear, but he was proven wrong when the entire group stopped and the teens behind him each let out some small gasps (Well, excpet for Asami, who just looked confused.)
"YOU'RE GAY TOO?" shouted Ed, the loudest anyone has been in the group since they first departed on their little trip. Virgil raised an eyebrow at him.
"I can't tell if you mean "too" as in you're also gay or if you're being homophobic." He said, the last part sounding accusatory as he norrowed his eyes at him. Ed turned to look at him dead in the eye.
"Men."
Virgil deadpanned "Good to know."
The group, now silent, continued walking.
Walking...
More walking...
Even more walking...
"Good for you. I'm glad your teammates are supportive of you." The stranger spoke up. Tye smiled to himself, knowing they aren't just teammates, they're lifelong friends.
Before they knew it, they were at a train station.
"Finally..." The man sighed. "Gotham City, here we come."
The delinquents stopped dead in their tracks upon hearing the stranger's words. Each of them having different expressions of the place.
"Excuse me, sir... Did you just say... Gotham City?"
Notes:
It's been a while since I uploaded, I hope this is good. I feel bad that my fics are kind of spamming the Tye/Jaime tag. So, I'm thinking of making a oneshot requests and my own ideas book to cram them into, for not only Tye/Jaime, but also Wally/Dick, Zatanna/Artemis, Ed/Bart, and other LGBT ships.
