The winds were howling as icy rain beat harshly onto Percy’s skin.

The clouds were dark and grey as thunder vibrated down his spine.

They were running, flying, fleeing as fast and as far as they could across the vast expanse of the Pacific ocean.

“ Faster Blackjack, he’s gaining on us!”

“ I can’t Boss, we need to go higher!”

“ you know why we can’t! Quest or no Quest Zeus will strike us straight out of the sky!” Lightning flashed across the sky as if in agreement as Percy clung to his noble steed.

Behind them was death, but Percy was used to that- he was used to walking across tight ropes made of flimsy thread strung over Grand Canyons filled with corpses.

Percy was used to struggling to survive, had learned how to make a single loose thread as strong as steel cable.

*Fwoosh* Percy grunted as a cut formed on his arm- though he knew not what weapon caused it, it did not matter.

What mattered was that the monster they’d been assigned to hunt was not what they’d been told.

In hindsight it had not been a monster at all, it had been a trap.

And Percy had fallen for it, just as he always did.

( Loyalty will one day become your fate )

But this time there was one, small difference-

“ We have no choice their right behind us!”

Percy grimaced, “ Fine, fine, fine! Let’s go!”

As they ascended into the heavens Percy had to stop preventing the rain from hitting his eyes, shutting them tight and burying his face in BlackJack’s soaked fur, Zeus had let him escape his territory before, but he knew without permission he best not use Poseidon’s power in another God’s domain.

Best not push his already horrid luck.

They were going higher and higher through the storm and away from their enemy who was trapped inside it’s own domain itself when Percy felt it.

There was no chance to react, there had never been, between one split second and the next Percy felt searing pain attack his body as lightning flooded his veins.

They had escaped outside of the monster’s reach, but now they were falling down into the ocean below, and he was far from Poseidon’s territory.

Percy sensed more than felt as Blackjack desperately curled around him as headed straight for the ruthless waves below.

Water had always been welcome to Percy, a breath of fresh air where others have drowned and a source of healing that soothes his wounds.

But here, in a place that would see him dead?

Percy never did a lot of thinking, it was always just doing, keep moving, keep surviving, ‘you have to live Percy, Please.’ So it shouldn’t be surprising that when severely wounded and left with little choice he’d immerse himself in instinct.

Percy let his power encapsulate him and Blackjack.

He sensed it harden around him as they sank into the depths.

The last thing he thought was simple, if a bit sad having experienced such a situation countless times:

‘ Help ‘

But, no one had ever come before, what would be different now?

-The small difference being, Percy couldn’t get himself out of this one.

He’d always been the one to rescue in the past, the most powerful that could escape from any trap including fucking Tartarus.

And after escaping whatever trap he’d fled he’d return even stronger to fight the battle and win the war.

He was the hero- their Hero.

But not this time.

This time, the hero wasn’t even born yet.

The day it all went down, Sakana was on a field trip to the museum with the rest of her class.

Sakana wasn’t too excited, honestly history was pretty boring, but the people who stay behind have to do an essay so she had made sure to get her permission slip signed.

Sakana had trailed after her class slowly, not quite caring to listen to their guide, but with no other source of entertainment- her phone had died because she forgot to charge it, when she heard her classmates gasps of amazement from the front.

They were entering a new room, and Sakana waited patiently to enter the room herself, though her interest was peaked.

As she entered the room her eyes widened in amazement, in the middle of the atrium they’d entered was a large block of crystal clear ice lit up from light underneath.

Sealed perfectly inside was the figure of a curled up black horse, large feathered wings stretched downward as if it had just launched off the ground rendering them fully visible through the giant sculpture.

The majestic creature’s eyes were closed, but she could imagine the firce light they’d once had.

It was breathtaking, and fully explained the awe her fellow classmates had let out, she quickly turned toward her guide.

“ -the iceberg washed up on a beach in Yokohama approximately 126 years ago and spent most of the Dark age of Quirks inside an abandoned research facility there.

After it was rediscovered in 23xx, it found it’s way through 3 other facilities before the Museum of Quirk History purchased it in 23xx.

While the evidence of a horse with wings had proven animals could be born with the same mutations as the rest of the world without a doubt and played a key factor in multiple civil rights cases, the most fascinating thing is actually the ice it’s encased in.”

The guide smiled childishly as he gestured toward the large object.

“ After all, countless scientists and Quirk users have tried melting the ice over the years, but as you can see it has always failed.

In fact, not only is the ice impervious to fire it even gets colder the more it’s exposed!” Their guide made a motion as if to continue but stopped as the glass ceiling above them cracked open and rained down to the ground.

Sakana quickly buried her face in her arms avoiding the glass shards falling before looking up towards the faces of her fear stricken classmates.

Following their line of sight, Sakana slowly turned around only to became face to face with a Villain.

Sakana fell backwards as terror flooded her veins, not even noticing her Quirk activate as she screamed-

“ H-help!”

Screaming for help was the last thing she remembered.

Naomasa Tsukauchi  grimaced at the sight before him.

Naomasa would like to say that he has a tough stomach, growing up being able to tell the difference between truth and lies would give that to anyone let alone someone with a tendency, to attract criminals, vigilantes, and underground heroes like flies.

That said, days like these are the ones that really make him reconsider just what he’d signed up for joining the police force in a society filled with heroes and villains.

According to the quick run down he’d received, a villain had attacked the Museum of Quirk History less than 2 hours ago.

The silent alarm had been tripped, the nearest heroes called in, and first responders on their way.

All in all an average day, except when the Heroes reached the Exhibit being attacked the fight was already over.

Everyone that had been in the large room, including a visiting class of 22 kids on a field trip, were frozen solid in a giant block of crystal clear ice.

And every single one of them, until further notice, are presumed dead.

In Naomasa’s opinion, nothing could be worse than the feeling of being helpless to save dying children- let alone 22 of them.

And that their last moments were captured in full detail, frozen still as they stand terrified, staring at the villain who had started this incident?

Well, the villain’s lucky he can’t shoot a bullet through the impenetrable ice.

Naomasa looked away from the scene as a young police officer with a serious face approached him from the side.

“ Jinshi, what’s wrong?” He asked the young man.

“ Sir, i was reviewing the video tapes to see the incident, and-“ he hesitated.

Naomasa frowned, “ What is it? Spit it out?”

“ I’m not sure you’ll want to see this.” With the buzz of his quirk ‘truth truth truth’ ringing in his ears Naomasa nodded and followed him to the security room.

As Jinshi hit play on the rewound footage, Naomasa felt something akin to hope spark inside him as he stared at the screen.

“ Get Eraserhead in here now! And i want information on the girl that screamed’s quirk yesterday!”

“ Yes Sir!”
