Chapter Text

To be or not to be, that is the question. Whether it is of blah bluh blah something something something. I've been locked in this room for way too fucking long, and I'm concerned that I'm actually going insane. In order to keep my boredom in check, I've begun monologuing to myself like a cool old timey actor or something. Not out loud, I'm not that crazy, but still. I doubt it'll help much, but it's not like there's anything else to do around here, so monolog it is.

I haven't done one of these since Hamlet, however long ago that was. I barely remember it, though it can't have been more than a year or two ago. I was 14 at the time, and honestly I was so bad, it was hilarious. I don't know why Mr. Brown chose me to be Claudius, I should not have gotten as many lines as I did.

Sorry, that's not really what I meant to talk about. The doc said she would check in on me in the morning, but that was like 4 days ago so I'm beginning to seriously doubt that that's gonna happen. Not that that's a bad thing, I fucking hate that woman, but still, I'm really fucking hungry and I'm pretty sure she's the only one who cares enough to bring me food.

Do I even need to eat? If what she says is true, that I'm immortal and no matter what happens I won't be able to die, then I probably don't, right? I'm not sure if I want to believe her or not, but I guess I'll find out soon if she doesn't bring me something to eat within the next day or two. At least I've got the drip to keep me hydrated, otherwise I'd have found out already, which god im not sure I'd be able to handle that just yet.

Shed been acting differently lately.. the doctor that is. Much more erratic, rushing my 'inspections' and tune-ups. It's not like her at all.. I'm actually starting to get a bit worried if I'm being honest.

There was something she said to me the other day.. something like 'I'm running out of time- they'll be here soon' or some shit. Got no clue what the fuck that means, but maybe this means we're having visitors? Could be an opportunity to get the fuck out of here.

Even if someone does show up, I probably won't even be able to escape this room, much less the ship. I've been tied to this table for so long I'm not sure my legs would even work if I tried standing up. Still, it can't hurt to have a plan just in case the universe is kind to me for fucking once. I don't know, if something happens I'll just make something up as I go, not that anything will of course.

Anyways, I was tapping on the table with my feet and I came up with this sick ass beat, it goes kinda like-

Wait. I think I just heard something. Is she-? Oh fuck she's-

The doctor enters her lab, fresh blood smeared across her lips like lipstick, a loaded pistol in hand.

"We're leaving."

She quickly walks to the operating table, sliding the pistol into its holster as she undoes the kid's restraints.

"If you run, I will shoot you, understood?" She gives to time for them to answer, instead wrapping an arm around their shoulders to help them stand up.

They stagger as they take their first step in months, but remain standing with the doctor's help. She knows the only reason they aren't running is that they're too shocked to do anything but follow along.

She takes advantage of their current mental state, leading the kid out of the room and down the labyrinth of hallways that make up this part of the ship.

They move much slower than she prefers, but still make it to the bridge in an acceptable amount of time.

Emergency alerts flash on every screen, bright red lights flooding the bridge. The doctor lets go of the kid, leaving them to stand in the middle of the room as she types various codes on the many computers around the room.

After about a minute of this, she turns around. The doctor grabs the kid's shoulders and looks them dead in the eyes, refusing to blink.

"You are going to do exactly as I say, and you are doing to do it without any hesitation, understood?"

A moment of silence passes.

"Understood?" She repeats, emphasizing every syllable.

"Y-yes, understood." The kid stutters, eyes full of confusion and fear.

"Good. Now listen carefully, because I'm only going to say this once. In just a moment some people are going to arrive, and you cannot be here when they do. You need to get to the emergency shuttle on deck B as fast as you can. You are to wait for me there, and once I arrive, we will leave. Now, I am going to give you a gun-" At this she takes her pistol out of its holster and holds it in front of the kid, "-and I need you to let me know that you aren't going to do anything stupid once I give this to you."

The kid nods, and for a second the doctor thinks she can see something dark in their eyes, something evil. It disappears in an instant, and she shakes her head. She can't worry about that right now, there are more pressing matters at hand.

She gives them the gun.

"If you see anyone that isn't me, you are going to run in the opposite direction and hide. If confrontation is unavoidable, you will take this gun, and you will shoot them in the head."

The kid's eyes widen, but they don't object. The doctor smiles a little, loosening her grip on their shoulders.

"I promise nothing will happen to you, or to me. Stay safe, love. Now go."

She lets go of their shoulders and steps back, watching them take a breath before turning around, and run out of the room. She smiles for a moment, then stops. She needs to focus. They are going to arrive any moment now, and she needs to be prepared.

Suddenly she is thrown from her feet as the ship shudders from an explosion not too far from where the doctor currently is. Luckily it came from the opposite direction that the kid came from, so that was one less thing to worry about.

As the doctor picks herself up off the ground she hears it, the maniacal laughter of her children coming to kill her. She presses a few more buttons on the screens in front of her, and turns to run.
