Chapter Text

The sun hadn’t even risen which meant it was 4 am as Aubrey stared at the ceiling. She sighed before getting up and out of bed. She got on a black shirt, shorts, her jacket, and her headband bow before brushing her hair she had gotten cut a week ago. She went over to Bun-Bun and fed her bunny. She grabbed her bat before heading down the ladder. She went to the kitchen and grabbed a trash bag then started cleaning up some of the trash even though it might return later. Aubrey glanced at her mom who was still passed out. Aubrey sighed and grabbed her shoes before heading outside and throwing out the trash, she put on her shoes after she decided to grab her scooter and go ride around till it was sunrise. As Aubrey was just leaving her house, she saw a girl with black hair in another smart uniform running across the street towards the plaza. Aubrey shook her head seeing that the girl had a bag, “Opening shift…” Aubrey sighed she didn’t wanna show the amount of annoyance she felt so she kept her face blank.

Aubrey decided that instead of just riding around, she’d go over to Kim’s and Vance’s house so they could hang out. She scootered over to Vance and Kim’s house. She leaned her scooter against the side of the house and walked over to Kim and Vance’s bedroom window since she knew they’d be at their mom’s today. She decided to repay the rock window throwing from a few months ago that was divided equally amongst them. She picked up a few rocks and threw them at the window.

After a while, Kim opened the window and looked tiredly down at Aubrey, “STOP! WHY IS SOME DUMBASS KID THROWING ROCKS AT MY-” Kim puts her glasses on while whispering, not wanting to wake up her mom or Vance, and then recognizes Aubrey after her eyes adjust, “oh shoot- hi Aubrey…” Kim laughed nervously, “Sorry ‘bout that.” Aubrey had a new idea.

Aubrey rolled her eyes, “Anyways, ready to go?” Aubrey asked, “Also can you let me in?” Kim looked confused at her, “Not particularly. I can get ready though.” Kim looked back and walked away from the window before walking back, “Yeah sure.” Aubrey nodded and went over to the front door. After 10 minutes Kim opened the door with her blue hoodie and jeans on and let Aubrey in. “Sorry for the wait…” Kim apologized and without waiting for a response said, “I’ll be right back…” Kim walked off to finish getting ready to go to the bathroom. Aubrey then went to Kim and Vance’s room and knocked on the door.

After 2 minutes of continuous knocking Vance yelled from behind the door, “What?” Aubrey sighed, “You ready to go, Vance?” There was audible shuffling after a second of silence. Vance opened the door and looked at Aubrey confused, “What do you mean?” Aubrey looked back at the bathroom door then back at Vance, “We’re leaving soon, did Kim not tell you?” Vance shook his head and then closed the door. Aubrey sighed, walked back to the living room, and sat on the couch.

Aubrey waited for 5 minutes until she heard voices whispering and talking to one another, it wasn’t audible but she could tell it was Vance and Kim. Eventually, both came into the living room ready, Aubrey stood up and walked to the door, “Now you guys ready to go?” Kim nodded as she and Vance grabbed their shoes and put them on. “Yep, where are we going?” Vance asked. Aubrey opened the door and muttered, “Opening shift.” Vance sighed as Kim groaned both annoyed but understanding. “Again?” Kim asked, annoyed by that. Aubrey nodded as she went out and got her scooter.

They all scootered over to Charlene’s and went to Charlene’s window. “Okay. so weird idea but how about we stack on top of each other's shoulders?” Kim suggested since there were no rocks nearby. Aubrey thought about it and nodded. They stacked up—Vance at the bottom, Kim in the Middle, and Aubrey at the top. Aubrey knocked on the window for 3 minutes before Charlene opened it, “...?” Aubrey sighed, “Opening shift, coming with?” Charlene nodded. “Alright well be out front,” Aubrey responded as Charlene closed the window. It took a bit but they got down and went over to the door and waited.

It was about 15 minutes till Charlene came out in her dark purple sweater with a light-purple stripe sticking out and pink pants. Aubrey and Charlene gave a nod to one another as they headed to their next stop.

Getting Charlene to come with happened without any issues unlike with Vance and Kim. Now they were headed off to Angel's house, which was gonna be one of the hardest things for his older sister. But not as hard as ‘The Maverik’.

They all looked around for the spare key to enter the house that Angel told them about. Charlene found the spare key under some paint cans with some paint on it to look like the ground. “Hm. clever woman.” Aubrey stated to herself kinda proud of the artist’s thinking. Charlene handed the key to Aubrey. Aubrey went up to the door and tried it before using the key. A thought popped into Kim’s head, “Isn’t this like, breaking in and entering??”Kim spoke kinda nervous and concerned. “Yep. but as long as we are not caught, no one will know.” Aubrey responded as she unlocked the door, “If you're afraid of getting caught, you can stay watch as we get Angel, you know.” Aubrey looked back at Kim waiting for her response.

“Yeah… sure I’ll watch for his sister,” Kim responded, trying to sound confident. Aubrey nodded and opened the door then whispered, “You now have to whisper, mouth, or use sign language.” They all understood, and you may wonder why they didn’t just go to the window, well the last time they did The Artist heard them and Angel got grounded resulting in him having to stay home. They don’t want that situation again cause they went to The Maverik’s house too early and fucked the mission up by getting caught by the bread twins. Also, they do text each other but Angel broke his first phone, lost his second, his third was sold in a bet he lost, and his recent phone is currently in his sister’s hands cause he has forgotten about the errands for a week. Aubrey doesn’t tell them when it's the “morning shift” until she gets them, except for Charlene cause she gives her a choice, she has no real reason why.

As they entered the house it was still early about 4:50 am or so, meaning the Artist wouldn’t see them unless they knocked over a paint can or something. Charlene handed Aubrey a flashlight that had a low light setting so they didn’t have to turn on the lights. Aubrey turned it on its medium setting so it wasn’t too bright or too dark. Aubrey eventually got to Angel’s room, Kim watched for The Artist, Vance was grabbing his scooter plus watching for anyone seeing them, and Charlene was helping Aubrey in case they had another problem.

Aubrey opened Angel’s room door quietly and entered. She went over to his bed with Charlene behind her. She lightly jabbed Angel with the handle of her bat, but not a lot just enough to wake him. Angel jolted awake and yelled, “AH!- WHO-” Angel tried screaming but Aubrey covered his mouth and shushed him, “Shut up. Do you want to get grounded again?” She whispered with a hint of annoyance in response Angel shook his head then Aubrey hissed quietly, “Then get ready we’re leaving, if you don’t we’ll wake up your sister and you’ll most likely get in trouble. Got it?” Angel nodded. Aubrey uncovered his mouth and backed away, “Good.” Aubrey muttered and walked out of the room with Charlene.

Aubrey looked at Kim as Charlene closed the door. Kim gave a nervous smile and nod indicating everything was good but was still worried because of Angel’s yelling. Aubrey nodded and went into the main room as Charlene waited by Angel’s door. Aubrey set her bat down on the table and sat in a chair then sighed. Lucas went up to her, she had forgotten about him. She petted him while muttering that he was a good dog. Lucas licked her hand and luckily didn’t bark, maybe he understood what was going on, I mean that black-haired girl was outside walking the dogs of the town and Aubrey was pretty sure that she also vented to them.

It was 5:10 am when Angel was finally ready. With his hair and hair clip and his shirt with wings on it. They all got outside as Vance was waiting for them. “Took you long enough,” He slightly chuckles while joking. “Angel’s hair took most of the time.” Kim sighed and rolled her eyes. “Like you picking out what earrings to wear doesn’t take long,” Angel grumbled as he walked over to Vance to get his scooter. “Hey!” Kim looked back at him as she got on her scooter. “He isn’t wrong though.” Vance shrugged, handing Angel his scooter. Kim muttered to herself something as she locked the door and put the key back. They all scootered over to Mikhael’s house.

Once they arrived the unsettling feeling of judgment appeared from the statutes. “Why do they even have those…” Kim muttered, feeling uneasy. Aubrey sighed as she went up to the window to look in, “It's a religious thing…you probably wouldn’t get it.” Aubrey watched and waited to see if anyone was awake. “Wait, why are we doing this?” Angel asked since he was never told the reason. After Aubrey concluded that no one was awake she put her hand out to Kim but responded, “Opening shift.” Angel nodded understanding as Kim took out of her pocket her lock pick for Mikhael’s house. Aubrey took it and unlocked the window then opened it.

“Okay, this is breaking in and entering! We are gonna get caught,” Kim stated. Aubrey looked back at Kim, “If you're so scared of getting caught how ‘bout you stay out here and watch for anyone.” Aubrey started trying to sound as nice as possible. “And get Mikhael’s scooter,” Vance added. Kim grumbled but agreed and punched Angel in the arm before he could correct her brother. Aubrey slipped in and unlocked the front door for Charlene and Vance since she didn’t trust Angel to come with plus since Kim couldn’t help due to fear of the law she’d need at least someone to watch for the parents and the bread twins. “Religious bread lovers…” Kim muttered to herself sadly, Angel looked at her confused so she explained to him why.

Anyways, with the other 3 Vance was watching upstairs as Charlene was watching Aubrey unlock Mikhael’s door since he found out how to lock it. Aubrey walked in with Charlene and closed the door behind them. Aubrey went up to Mikhal and punched him in the arm, “Get yo mother fuckin’ ass up and get your shit ready. It's the opening shift.” Aubrey spoke in the most unserious rude tone. Mikhael was awakened by that and groaned, annoyed and in pain, “Ugh… fine.” Aubrey and Charlene left the room and then sat in the two chairs outside of it. Mikhael exited his room 10 minutes later. Before he could say anything Aubrey grabbed him and dragged him outside. “Ohohoho.” A voice spoke as they left.

Vance and Charlene went outside. Aubrey went back into the house and locked the door then went out the window. Aubrey closed the window as Kim was finishing up, "...and that's why I said it like that." Angel's eyes were wide with surprise, "Oh that makes more sense." Angel had a moment of realization, "Oh! Ohh! Oh. Oh… oh." Kim nodded.

Mikhael was about to say something but was cut off by Aubrey, "Alright. We're all here. If you haven't got money, too bad you're still coming with still. If you do, good." Aubrey stated as she got her scooter, "Time to go." They all got their scooters and scootered over to the plaza.
