Arrow: Spectral Redemption

Summary:

Oliver Queen - The Spectre. After thousands of years, he still has not found peace while looking after the multiverse. He's had time to see what went wrong, but, bound by rules higher than him, he is not allowed to interfere with his past self. Howver... nobody mentioned anything about OTHER past selves...

Starts in the future as well as the past... As you can see I'm not good with summaries lol

Notes:

So this is my first fanfic where I have a general outline stuck in my head and am transferring it to virtual paper. All suggestions and criticisms welcome. Let me know what you think and if I should continue.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

For five millennia, Oliver Queen had watched over the multiverse, a silent guardian, a Specter. The Crisis had ended, but peace had eluded him. He had hoped to find solace in his eternal vigil, yet his mind was haunted by memories, by what could have been.

He stood atop the vanishing spire of a timeless citadel, gazing across the weave of reality, threads of countless worlds stretching into infinity. He had reshaped these realities, saved countless lives, but the cost had been his own chance for redemption. He could save universes, but not his own soul.

Oliver's existence as the Specter was a paradox of power and impotence. He could witness all of time and space, yet he was bound by the very laws he enforced. He could not interfere, only protect. But as centuries turned into millennia, the weight of his solitude and his regrets grew heavier.

He remembered the faces of those he had loved and lost – Laurel, Thea, his mother Moira, Tommy, even Malcolm Merlyn. Each memory was a sharp reminder of the life he had left behind, the life he had failed. He thought of Felicity, her brilliant smile, her unwavering faith in him, and his heart ached with a longing that transcended time.

Then there was the other Oliver, the one he could sense in a distant, parallel universe – a version of himself that was still grappling with his destiny. This Oliver was still lost, still trying to find his way out of the darkness. Watching him was like looking through a mirror into the past, a past filled with mistakes he wished he could undo.

One quiet cosmic evening, as Oliver's spectral gaze drifted across the tapestry of worlds, a flicker of something strange caught his attention. A tear in the fabric of reality, a glitch in the multiverse. It was small, almost imperceptible, but to Oliver's eternal vigil, it was a glaring anomaly.

Curious, Oliver reached out with his spectral powers, probing the anomaly. As he did, a surge of energy coursed through him – an energy he had not felt since before the Crisis. It was raw, untamed, and it whispered of possibilities, of paths not yet taken.

Oliver delved deeper, his consciousness flowing into the rift. Images and sensations flooded his senses – he was reliving moments of his past, but they were different, altered. He saw himself, not as the Specter, but as the Green Arrow, yet in situations he had never experienced.

And then he understood. This rift was a gateway, a bridge to another universe, another reality where he could make a difference. A reality where he could guide his other self, steer him away from the mistakes he had made.

A plan began to form in his mind. He could not change his own past, but maybe, just maybe, he could help the other Oliver find a better path. It was a risk – meddling with another universe was against the laws he had sworn to uphold. But the thought of redemption, of a chance to right some of his wrongs, was too tempting to resist.

With a resolve that had defined him both as Oliver Queen and the Specter, he stepped through the rift, the fabric of reality bending around him. He was taking the first step into a journey that could change everything – not just for him, but for another version of himself who was still fighting the darkness within.

As he emerged on the other side, in a world so familiar yet so different, Oliver took his first breath in a new reality. He was back in Starling City, back to where it all began. But this time, he was not the lost soul returning from an island; he was the Specter, a being of immense power and knowledge.

He knew where to find his other self – the Oliver Queen of this universe. He would be on the shores of Lian Yu, just about to be rescued, ready to embark on his journey as the Green Arrow.

A small smile tugged at Oliver's lips. This was going to be interesting. He could already imagine the look on his other self's face when he, a ghostly figure of a future he couldn't yet comprehend, appeared before him.

The journey of redemption had begun, not just for the Oliver Queen of this universe, but for the Specter, who had been given a rare second chance to make things right.
