Work Text:

It was a rainy day in Discordland, the lightning only being disturbed by loud noises from the Fanfiction Club. BANG! CRASH! BANG! BANG! Hammer noises.

Nearby neighbors, like the Little Nightmare server and the A3! OCs! server merely sighed and pulled down their blinds, preparing for another long night with their friends.

“DAMMIT MEPH, DID YOU DRINK ALL THE MAYO…?” Fox yelled atop a ladder that went up to the loft,, holding a paintbrush in their tail.

“NO-? AND WHAT DOES MAYO HAVE TO DO WITH PAINTING YOUR ROOM??” Meph yelled back.

“I SMELL MAYO!” Fox’s tail bushed up as they hissed, sticking out their tongue.

“MAYO DOESN’T HAVE A SMELL?? I THINK YOU’RE JUST SMELLING PAINT- ACTUALLY WAIT, DID YOU EVEN GET PERMISSION FROM SERENITY OR KHONSHU TO PAINT YOUR ROOM-?”

“I’M RESPONSIBLE-! MOSTLY- AND KHONSHU’S BUSY CLEANING THE TAR PIT AND SERENITY’S AT PUBLIX, REMEMBER-??” Fox yelled back.
At that moment, Tea walked in and saw the scene, immediately sighing before throwing a bag of birdseed at Meph.

“Here. The birdseed you wanted from the garage.” they mumbled before walking over to Fox.

Meph barely caught it. “OOH! THANK YOU!” he yelled happily before opening his backpack and pulling out planters, already filled with dirt.

“Wait, what? You’re going to feed birds while there’s-you know- a thunderstorm outside-?” Tea muttered, eyes wide. “That’s kinda…unsafe, ya know..”
Meph looked at her as he held a hand to his chest in mock offense, “I’m not stupid! I’m not going to feed the birds, I’m going to grow birds!” he announced proudly as Tea sighed.

“You. I. Er. That’s not how it wor-” they sighed as they saw Meph’s expression. “You know what, I’ve always wanted to try woodcarving,” they said as they walked over to the ladder leading to their room, “Meph, where’d you put the chainsaw?”

“In your bag.” Meph replied, as if this was a daily occurrence as Tea pulled out a huge chainsaw from their purse. “Thanks…” they grinned before snapping their fingers, a block of wood taller than them appearing as they revved up the chainsaw, the sound startling Fox so much they nearly fell off the ladder, spilling paint all over the carpet.

“FOX-” Canary yelped as they walked in, wings fluttering. “HOW- HUH…?” she paused before sighing, massaging her temples. “I knew I should’ve just bought you that washable paint…” they sulked. “How are we supposed to clean this before Serenity shows up?”

“Er..” Fox thought for a minute, “Oh! I know!” they grinned before rushing off as Canary went pale.

“What now…” they muttered as Fox came back with a bottle of bleach, nearly tripping as they hoisted the heavy canister up. “...What the-?”

“See, if we bleach this spot, then we can cover it up!” they said happily, unscrewing the top before pouring it on the spot and beginning to rub it in with their hands. “I’ve done this before, trust me.”

“You’re not supposed to rub it in with your hands-” Meph began to interrupt before shaking his head. “How are you still alive..” he mumbled as Fox hummed before their tail knocked over the bleach bottle, causing a stifled scream to come out of Canary’s mouth.

“FOX-” they scrambled to turn the bottle upright as they slipped on the bleach and nearly landed in the puddle.

Fox yelped and turned the bottle back upright. “I’M SORRY…?” their voice cracked as they grabbed the bleach and screwed the cap back on before they heard a car pull into the driveway.

“OH SHOOT- IT’S SERENITY- I- UH- ACT NORMAL-!!” Meph shrieked as the door swung open, revealing Serenity.

“I- UH- I-” Fox immediately flipped the carpet over and sat on top of it, hugging the bleach bottle to their chest. “Bleachy, I told you-” they scolded the bottle of bleach, cheeks flaming red as Meph grabbed a handful of paint and threw it on Canary violently, most of it splattering on their clothes..

Canary yelped before blurting out, “I’ve always wanted to dye my hair…?” Canary said uncertainly before going along with it. “I mean, yeah, I have! Haha…” she fake laughed as they rubbed the blue paint into their hair. “This blue is…pretty…”

Meanwhile, Tea almost dropped the chainsaw on their foot before kicking it away. “Ooh! I wonder where this wood came from-!!” they screeched. “It uh-” they sniffed it. “Smells like wood! MMM!” they said in an exaggerated tone.

Serenity stared at them before she heard a crunching noise, turning to see Meph eating birdseed.

“Nutty.” was the only word he said before Serenity dropped the groceries, the closest expression to anger she could muster appearing on her face as she spoke.
“All of you, time out corner. KHONSHU?” she yelled out as the silver-haired male appeared next to her.

“Yeah-? Oh…” he was at a loss for words as he blurted out his excuse, “I needed to clean out the tar pit.” before disappearing again.

Serenity took a deep breath as Tea, Fox, Meph, and Canary (albeit Canary was sulking a little bit, insisting she wasn’t the propagator) went into the time-out corner, shivering.

“Where was that card for our insurance company again…”
