Chapter Text
Seoul, November, 2023
Jimin was holding the precious envelope in his hands. The one that most of the people with his profession desired to have but there were only a few that could have it. It was the long-awaited notice from The Juilliard School in New York. They were offering him a job there, alongside a permanent stay at the New York Ballet. It was everything that he had dreamed about… once. But there wasn’t that flutter in his heart that he expected to feel. There were no butterflies in his stomach. There was nothing left from the man and his dreams since five years ago.
Park Jimin was a ballet and a contemporary dancer. He used to put all of his passion there. He loved the dance and the art behind it. Once upon a time he had dreams to become the most famous ballet and contemporary dancer in the world. Well, he made it. People knew his name everywhere. He was probably the most famous omega in the whole world, but his passion was gone. He was still dancing, but the emotion wasn’t there. The feeling was gone. There was nothing left but his grief for what it once was.
“Jimin-ah!” His mother rushed into the large and expensive living room of their mansion in Seoul. Jimin turned around, still holding the envelope. “Oh! You’ve got it!” She clapped her hands excitedly. “What are you waiting for? Open it!”
“You do it,” Jimin handed the envelope to his mother and turned around reaching his hands towards the fireplace to warm them a bit. They were cold, once again.
“You’re in!” The female omega squealed excitedly and rushed towards him. Jimin felt how her arms were embracing his body. He didn’t reach out to return the embrace. “You’re in! I can’t believe it! My son is going to--”
“I’m not going anywhere,” the younger pushed her away and turned around to stare at the flames dancing inside the fireplace.
“What?” Park Mina sounded surprised. “What are you talking about, Jimin-ah!? Of course that you’re going, baby. It was your dream! It was--”
“I’m not going,” Jimin interrupted her once again. “I called them already to decline their offer. I’m staying here, in Seoul. I already accepted the offer from the ballet theater. Kim Seokjin was kind to accept my application to teach there, once my work with the troupe is over. I have two more shows and I’m done with it.”
“You haven’t discussed this with us,” he heard his mother’s voice and how her tone changed. The omega slumped his shoulders. “Jimin-ah, this is such a huge opportunity! You should seriously reconsider!”
“Why?” Jimin turned around. “Because it was your dream, eomma? It was your dream to see me dancing on the big stage? I know that already and I’ve been pushing through for the last five years, just for you,” he sighed. “But I’m tired… and I’m not happy! Not anymore!”
“Jimin-ah…” the female omega reached out towards him with a pained expression over her face but Jimin shook his head and walked past her. “Where are you going?”
“I’ll be home for dinner,” the omega threw his answer over his shoulder and walked out of the house.

Yoongi got out of his car in the moment he saw his son walking out from the kindergarten. He was joined by his teacher and the omega waved at him. “Look,” he pointed at the alpha, “I told you your appa will be here when we go out, Jihyunie.”
The pup grinned and started running towards the alpha. That brought a smile over Yoongi’s face and he crouched down just on time to wrap his arms around his puppy and lift him up in the air. “Did you have any problems with him, Taehyung-ah?”
The omega shook his head with a smile. “He was the bestest pup today,” the omega chuckled. “His group starts their ballet lessons tomorrow,” he reminded the alpha and that brought a momentary bitter feeling to the alpha. But he quickly shook that feeling away.
“Don’t worry, he has his leotard already prepared,” Yoongi scrunched his nose. “I had to ask my personal assistant to take care of that.”
Taehyung chuckled. “I just wanted to remind you,” he sighed and clapped his hands. “Okay then,” he waved at the little pup in the alpha’s arms. “Goodbye, Hyunnie! See you tomorrow!”
“Bye-bye, teacher Kim!” The pup waved as well and Yoongi took him to his car.
Jihyun had a special seat there. He was a bit tired from the day, but still couldn’t stop babbling about it on their way back home. Yoongi would answer here and there, but he would leave the pup to talk more. When they got back home, the alpha helped his pup out of the car and then made sure prepare a bath for him. They ate dinner and watched some TV after that – Sponge Bob, per Jihyun’s request. After that, Yoongi read his little pup to sleep. He stayed until he was sure that Jihyun was sound asleep. Then he kissed his forehead and walked out of his room, leaving the door ajar.
The alpha had some things to finish that he had brought from work. He took his laptop and opened the files, not forgetting to put his glasses first. His eyesight wasn’t as good as it was five years ago. Yoongi stretched out and started working.
He was one of the best producers in South Korea, the world even. Also the only one, who had his own company at such age. He had just turned thirty this year and people were admiring him. The very same people, who thought that looked upon him five years ago. But Yoongi had worked a lot. He also sacrificed a lot to get to the place he was right now. The only thing that he never allowed to sacrifice was his son.
Jihyun was the most precious thing in his life. No money or success could cover him. He was the light and joy in the alpha’s life. A person would wonder, how his own amma could let go of him so easily. Yoongi clenched his jaw and tried to forget about that moment in his life. He tried to forget about the person who had broken his heart five years ago and in the most worst way possible. Yoongi wished that he knew what he had done to be treated in such harsh way. He wished that he knew what happened to make Park Jimin disappear from his life all of a sudden.
He wanted to know why he had given up his own pup like that. There was no call, no signal, no attempt to contact Yoongi ever since that faithful night.
“Enough!” The alpha hissed and clenched his fist close to the laptop. “I’ve had enough of you, Park Jimin! No more!”
He stared at his laptop after that, willing himself to stop thinking about the omega. The omega that once owned his heart but had crashed and burned it with no mercy.

Jimin walked through the door of the theater and looked around the faces of his fellow dancers. They were the same the last two years. He never tried to get close to any of them. It was pointless, because Jimin didn’t want to form any attachments. It was useless anyhow. He used to travel around the world a lot. He had worked overseas for two years – one year in LA and the other one in New York. Then he went to Europe and had a season at the Milan’s ballet. That was the dream for the most ballet dancers. A dream that Jimin used to have once.
“Are you ready for the rehearsals?” Jungkook, the alpha lead at their ballet troupe called him from his side of the small dressing room. He was already dressed.
“I am,” Jimin nodded, leaving his bag onto the floor, and sat on the small sofa there. “Are you ready too?”
The alpha shrugged. “As far as I can. I honestly can’t wait for this spectacle to be over,” he sighed and walked out of the dressing room.
It was Jungkook’s last season as a ballet dancer as well. The alpha suffered a car accident. He had barely survived. His back got damaged though and he was suffering a lot now, because he had to fulfill his contract with the Seoul Ballet. Jimin knew for sure that Jungkook had to receive injections before every show. That was such a misfortune though, because Jungkook was still young and still a skillful dancer. He was the best dance partner that Jimin could ever wish for. But just like Jimin, Jungkook didn’t look like he was enjoying the dancing anymore. He was only doing it because he had to do it.
Even with his back injury, Jungkook was the only alpha that Jimin trusted the most to lift him up for his difficult pirouettes. He knew that was probably causing a lot of pain to the younger, but there was nothing the both of them could do. The omega could notice the painful scrunch over Jungkook’s face every time he would try and lift him up. The both of them sighed with relief when the rehearsals were over.
There were two months before the show could be presented for the public, but the advertisement was already on. The best ballet and contemporary dancers in the lead roles at a spectacle written by the best ballet director out there – Jung Hoseok. The beta was also a famous figure in the dance world. He was strict and wanted his dancers to be able to do everything close t perfection. Jimin respected that quality of his. He had worked with the man twice before.
“Same time tomorrow, guys!” Hoseok clapped and ended the rehearsal. “Jungkookie, are you sure you don’t need a ride back home?”
The alpha waved his hand in dismissal. “No thanks,” he pointed at the door. “My boyfriend is already waiting for me. He just got out of school!”
“Give my best to Taehyungie, ok?” The beta called after him with a smile over his face.
Jimin looked after Jungkook’s retreating figure. Taehyung… Kim Taehyung, who was once his best friend. But Jimin had burned that bridge down as well. He sighed and shook his head. “I’m also leaving, hyung,” he said looking at the beta. “See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow, Jimin-ah!” Hoseok waved his hand at him and went to talk to the other dancers.
Jimin sighed and walked away.
