Chapter 1: The only constant

Chapter Text

“ The Zenin heir is now betrothed to the Gojo heir and they will marry once the small Zenin reaches the ripe age of 18.”

This was the universal truth of Megumi’s life. His fate was selected before he even understood what that word meant and what significance it held to him. He was born into the Zenin clan, born with their prized inherited technique Ten Shadows. But he was also born as an omega; an omega in the jujutsu world. As a result, he was merely a scapegoat in the grand scheme of things.

Years passed and the small Zenin grew up in the midst of all the adoration and attention from his parents and the servants. He was now 18 and a beautiful young man with a divine scent and calm and respectful demeanor. Megumi grew up tot be a perfect omega; pretty face with striking features and harmonious combination, soul staring eyes with the color of emerald; intoxicating scent of honey and a underlying layer of fresh citrus.

But Megumi grew up to be the perfect sorcerer too. The Zenins at least had love and respect for their inherited technique and greed for their place in the Jujutsu society. So, they begrudgingly arranged for his education and helped him to prosper as a sorcerer to keep their reputation despite him being an omega. He was enrolled into the Kyoto branch of the Tokyo Metropolitan School Of Curses. He was now a 3RD year student and a grade 1 sorcerer.

He was also the fiancé of Gojo Satoru; an alpha and soon to be mated to him. Soon meaning in a couple of days despite him never seeing the alpha in the flesh; only knowing him from the accounts of his spectacular triumphs.

“ Hey, Megumi! Megumi!”

“ You spaced out.”

Megumi looked up to see his mother smiling at him with that serene smile of her. Zenin Airi was not only a beautiful woman but also a great wife and mother. She managed to tame his father and made him fatherly. She also raised her son with great care and affection without letting anyone’s spiteful talk about his secondary gender affect her. She was truly the epitome of love and affection as her name suggested.

“ Oh sorry Mom. It was just boring to sit through all this wedding talk when I myself had no idea about the person I’m supposed to marry.”

His mother sighed in worry making Megumi feel bad about the way he behaved. He knew both of his parents now only had one goal in life and that is him. Making sure he grows up fine without any problem and fulfilling all of his desires had been two of their many promises to him when he was born into this world. He also knew how the betrothal forced them to break their most significant promise to him and the way it made them helpless.

“Megumi, I know you are mad about this whole thing . You should be too. Keep in mind what your father said in the morning, if you don’t want to marry the Gojo heir then you can back off. It doesn’t matter if it is now or at the alter. Me and your father are always beside you,my sweet.”

Megumi was truly grateful for his parents. His life was fucked up. He had been betrothed to someone he had never met from a very young age. He was looked down for being a male omega in the clan where only alphas were respected by the people around him. In his fucked up life full of problems, his parents were the only shining ray of hope.

“ Thank you, Mom. I appreciate both of your support but I would rather not start a war between the Gojo and the Zenin especially since you know I’m an omega and he is an alpha.”

“ That doesn’t matter –“

“ That doesn’t matter to you. But it matters to everyone else in the society. I am an omega so, that doesn’t give me the opportunity of rejecting an alpha not only superior to me in terms of secondary grade but also as a jujutsu sorcerer. That too two days before the wedding. It will be a huge scandal. The Zenin and the Gojo clan both will be demanding my head on a silver tray.”

“ And your father will fight all of them off you! Me and your father will protect you. You have us. Never forget that.”

She finished her sentence with a kiss on his forehead making her son smile at her with love and gratitude.

“ I know, Mom. I know.”

His wedding day finally came. The day when he will finally meet his soon to be mate and will get to know him as a person. Megumi wanted to laugh at the tragedy which was his fate. Apparently the elders of their clan still had not let go of their age old beliefs and were still stuck in the deadly claim of superstition. They did whatever bullshit and came up with the bullshit of the marriage less political deal more going very very wrong if the soon to be mates saw each other in person which was bullshit really for lack of a worse word. But here he was sitting in heaps of layers of clothes as if he was a present to unravel with a face full of detailed make up.

“ Mom, how long do we have to wait here”

“ Until the other party arrives and we are called to the hall.”

His father chuckled at his son’s impatient behavior. That annoyed expression came more off as cute in the face full of pretty make up making his striking features even more noticeable.

“ I see, you are having fun, Dad.”

“ Come on Kiddo. You know I how I truly feel about this. There is still time. I have told my friend Shiu to be on standby with his car. We can ru-“

“ Dad, you have repeated this exact thing for thousands of times for the last 10 minutes. I have made my decision. There is no turning back now.”

“ Your decision? There is no ‘your’ in this whole thing, Megumi. You didn’t ask for any of it. I am telling you I am right here. I will fight the Gojo brat if he intervenes.”

“ And risk your and mom’s safety. I am sorry, dad. I barely have any well wishers in life . I don’t want to lose you both.”

“ We don’t want to lose you too,my sweet.”

“ You won’t lose me. I am not dying. I am just relocating to a different clan.”

“ Its easier said than done , Megumi. I just hope you don’t regret your words later.”

“ I won’t,dad. I don’t plan to lose. I won’t let-“

“ Sir, Madam the Gojos are here!”

The Gojos arrived and Megumi’s heartbeat quickened hearing all the pomp and splendor. The importance of the event settled on his gut and almost gave him cold feet. But, Megumi had to be strong. He couldn’t afford to be weak. This whole deal has a lot of people’s survival on the line including his parents. So he had to be strong.

“ There he is! Our most awaited person of the day!”

The Gojo clan head’s wife exclaimed at the sight of him. Megumi wasn’t forbidden to see his future in laws like the way he was forbidden from seeing his future mate. He also knew Gojo wasn’t too. Because his parents went to visit the Gojo clan one day and came back with sour moods mostly his father, grumbling about the brat his future son in law was.

“ My greetings to you! Gojo sama”

Megumi replied with a bow behaving like the picture perfect omega they wanted for their son.

“ Oh, Megumi kun. We are family now. Don’t bother with these honorifics anymore.”

“ I’ll keep that in mind, Gojo sama.”

“ You are so sweet and respectful! Megumi kun. I hope Satoru learns-“

“ Already started with the complains over there, mother.”

A smooth voice came from the behind making everyone turn their heads towards the owner of the voice. Gojo Satoru;his future mate; was there standing in all his glory. His aura threatening and demanding attention. The combination of white hair and blue eyes made him look like the young rich princes from those fairy tales. Except he was. He was a real life prince. Handsome , charming, strong, intelligent, rich, reliable. A perfect picture of an desirable alpha.

“ And there you are. Took your time in the bathroom. You should know better than to make your pretty mate wait for you like that, Satoru.”

At the mention of him, the pair of gorgeous blue eyes fell on him pinning him in his place. His future mate was extremely handsome, Megumi could admit that. The pair of blue eyes focused on him intently, silently noting each and every feature and marveling at his beauty.

“ You are right, mother. My apologies!”

“ If you are done with this introduction, can we please proceed to the alter now? You morons are wasting our time here.”

Zenin Naobito spoke out loud like the asshole he was. His words seemed to provoke Gojo Satoru. Megumi could only watch in horror as his future mate was about to open his mouth to tell his uncle off his but was beat by his mother.

“ I see our Naobito san here is already impatient to see your reunion. Megumi kun, Satoru you shouldn’t make him too much. We should get to the altar.”

Satoru reached his hand out to him while getting up the stairs of the altar. Megumi accepted it gracefully making his mother swoon at the sight. The priest began his rituals as soon as they sat down. After a couple of chants, vows from both of them, they were ready for the main part of the ceremony that is marking each other on the neck and claim themselves as mates.

Megumi took a deep breath when he felt Satoru turn towards him. The alpha leaned and put his hand on his waist caressing it while letting out calm pheromones to comfort his omega. When Megumi distinguished his future mate’s pheromones in the air only then he realized he was sending distress signals. In his peripheral vision, he could see his father get restless at his action. So,Megumi calmed himself and his jumpy heart down and waited for the bite in his neck. Satoru pulled down his collar and bit at his scent gland hard drawing blood and then lapping it up with his tongue to heal the wound. The sensation wasn’t anything like Megumi had experienced before. It was hurtful. Having teeth pierce your skin is hurtful. But the pleasure that followed after wards remained unmatched. It took Megumi his every bit of control to not do anything embarrassing after he was marked on his neck. Megumi tugged at Satoru’s fabric during his turn to pull him towards him. He also bit down hard where he smelled the strongest. He then licked the dried blood of his lips with his now mate’s eyes following his every move.

“ Congratulations! You both are mates now.”

The priest spoke earning approval from everyone in the room.

After the wedding, the reception commenced. There were a lot of guests congratulating him and Satoru on their marriage. There were guests none of them ever saw in life, guests they weren’t fond of and guests they actually liked. Unfortunately that number was too low and only from Satoru’s side. Geto Suguru, Ieiri Shoko; the alpha introduced them as his high school friends and now colleagues. Both of them were alphas and pretty competent at their jobs .Geto Suguru was another special grade sorcerer and Ieiri Shoko was a highly skilled healer. Megumi couldn’t converse with any of them for long as they were again called for photo session by their relatives.

After striking several poses for the camare, the camera man finally stopped and gave them a thumbs up for the good job. Satoru dropped his hand from where he kept it behind Megumi’s behind at the camera man’s offer.

“ Its quite tiring,isn’t it?”

Megumi was lost in his thoughts when he heard that voice pulling him from the depth of his thoughts and bringing him to reality. He was flustered at the sudden attention towards him from his mate.

“ It is. I hope all of it is over soon.”

“ It will be or you want me to talk with mother. I can make her cut short the celebration.”

“ No! Gojo san you do not need to do that. This will only create a scene and people will talk.”

“ Man, you omegas are always so docile.”

“ You- I think your mother is calling us. Lets go over there.”

Megumi wouldn’t say he was surprised at the other’s superiority complex. He was an alpha after all. And that’s how alphas were at least in his family. Other than his father, no alphas ever showed respect to the omegas and always looked down on them , never admitted their mistake and were brash and rude. Maybe, Megumi’s expectation about his partner to be respectful and insightful about his secondary gender was too much.
