Chapter Text
It had been a winter morning when he had come into this world, raging like a banshee, if his uncle Izuna's words were to be believed.
It had been at the head house in the Uchiha compound where a beta midwife took the baby in her arms, cleaning the blood and cutting the umbilical cord before wrapping the baby in a soft blanket and setting the crying baby on his mother's arms.
Strong arms held him against a firm chest and a deep voice hushed him softly until he slowly calmed down, reduced to only soft sobs rather than ear shattering wails and he finally opened his eyes.
"Congratulations Tobirama-sama, Madara-sama. You've had a strong and healthy boy" the midwife congratulated them as she made sure the placenta was out and started cleaning the omega and covered his lower half with a blanket "Do you wish me to let the others in?" She asked
"Yes, let them in" a voice from the side said and the midwife had to stiffle a laughter at the sight of the imposing alpha Uchiha Madara looking pale and about to pass out, as if he had been the one who had spent the last few hours in pain and giving birth.
"As you wish" she bowed and left the room, turning to look at the two men that had been waiting outside.
"Did everything went alright?!" The tallest of the two men asked with concern, his long hair looking a mess at the top, as if he had been messing with it out of stress.
"I bet it did, I could hear the thing crying his lungs out all the way out here" the other man said with an amused smile, but hiding the concern he was feeling as well.
The midwife smiled at them "Everything went well, the baby is healthy and his mother is stable" she said, moving to the side, letting them in.
"Tobirama!" Hashirama hurried to walk in and kneeled next to his brother "Are you alright?"
Tobirama scoffed, almost feeling insulted by the question "Of course I am" he answered firmly.
And Izuna had to admit it was quite impressive. Tobirama did look a little paler than usual and his voice had come out a little raspy, but he looked quite composed and as stoic as ever, almost as if he was ready to get up and jump right into a fight.
However, Izuna's brother on the other hand...
"Come on brother, pull yourself together" Izuna said with an amused smile, patting his brother on the shoulder who looked at him a little horrorized.
"Why do we make omegas do this?" He asked quietly. He had been indeed traumatized by the miracle of life.
Izuna snorted "Come on, I bet you haven't even taken a good look at your child" he said, giving him a gentle nudge.
That finally seemed to make Madara snap out of it and he scooted closer to his mate, who gave him an unimpressed look before moving the child on his arms to show it better to him. And Madara felt his breath caught on his throat.
The baby looked so small against his mother's strong form. He had a small tuff of blondish hair pushing towards platinum. His skin had a slight rosy tone to it and he was looking at Madara with wide, black eyes.
Carefully, he reached to stroke his cheek softly and a soft smile set on his lips.
"Have you two decided on a name?" Hashirama asked, looking at his nephew with a smile. He already knew he was gonna spoil him rotten.
Tobirama and Madara shared a look before nodding and turning to look at their brothers, speaking at the same time.
"Touma Uchiha"
"Touma Senju"
There was an awkward silence that set in the room after they both said that and soon they turned to glare at each other, growling.
"There they go again..." Izuna sighed while Hashirama only laughed good heartedly.
"Uchiha!" Madara insisted.
"Senju!" Tobirama retorted.
"Uchiha!"
"Senju!"
They kept going back and forth, both of them refusing to back down.
"He was born at the Uchiha compound it's only normal he takes the Uchiha name!" Madara said stubbornly, earning him the glare of his wife.
"I carried him for 9 months, the day you make a whole child inside you he'll be an Uchiha, he's a Senju!" Tobirama fought back, his eyes sharp as he stared at Madara, almost challenging him to contradict him.
And Madara had to give the reason to Tobirama, but the Uchiha weren't known to be pushovers so he refused to admit it and kept pushing on the Uchiha name.
They went like that for a few minutes until they finally compromised into Uchiha-Senju. Which also had required of another argument of who's name should go first.
"I'm surprised they didn't kill each other before this" Izuna said with amusement once they had settled down, watching Touma feeding from his mother.
"Well, this was all an arrangement at first, but it seems like they've come to develop some fondness for each other" Hashirama said with a side smile, serving some tea and handing it to Izuna.
Both Madara and Tobirama were strong headed and stubborn. They both had strong presences, and it was a surprise to no one how their personalities clashed.
And although their marriage had started as an arrangement to end war, things had definitely had changed since then, it showed in the shared love they had in their eyes for their newborn; on the way that Madara had been pumping chakra into Tobirama to help him recover; on the way the tension seemed to leave Tobirama's body with closeness of Madara. It was on all the little things.
"Well, at least they match each other's energy" Hashirama said to then laugh happily.
And Izuna had to agree with him.
Izuna knew his brother was a good man and a good alpha, but he was quite intimidating, and more often than not, that was unintentional. And adding to that, he was hot headed. Any other omega would probably cower and be scared of him. Any other omega would have agreed to give he Uchiha name to their child easily, but Tobirama wasn't any omega, he was everything sexist alphas and the elders absolutely despised on an omega. He always raised to the challenge and as it was shown a few minutes ago, he didn't let Madara get away with everything.
And again, Izuna knew his brother, and he knew the alpha absolutely loved that. He could be himself around Tobirama without worrying he was gonna scare his partner.
"Yeah, they are long past being a simple arrangement" Izuna said, taking a sip from his tea.
Maybe it wasn't the same to Tobirama, who was a Senju. But Izuna could tell, as Madara's brother and as an Uchiha himself. He could tell the love he harbored for the omega, and he knew that Tobirama's death... Would be the undoing of Madara.
-----------------------------
Touma stared at his mother with curiosity. He was tracing some symbols on a piece of paper, seemingly deep in thought.
"What are you doing mama?" The 4 year old asked his parent, standing on his tip toes to look at the paper on the desk.
Tobirama looked at him and his expression softened slightly as he picked his child up and sat him on his lap.
"I'm experimenting with some seals" he explained.
"What does a seal do?" Touma asked, looking with curiosity.
"It can contain things. And I believe the right seals could contain more than what we imagine if used right, they could contain anything we want" he explained, taking a new paper and starting to draw on it.
Touma couldn't explain what exactly was the reason, but he had been deeply fascinated by that, and not just that, but the general idea of making things that could change the way of life, that innovated, seemed quite appealing even for his young mind, and so, it had started...
-----------------------------
Touma turned to be an extremely curious child, always wanting to know more and more about anything that intrigued him and questioning how everything around him worked.
This had been particularly a pain on the ass to his teachers and instructors who were often left feeling quite frustrated or embarrassed when the child ended asking something that they didn't have the answer to.
He was often told he was too curious for his own good. And for a brief short of time, he had been felt a little ashamed when an adult scolded him for that, but when his father had heard about that he had gave quite an earful to the man while he covered his child's ears.
"Honestly, it doesn't surprise me at all..." Madara said once they were heading home, making Touma look at him with confusion.
"What do you mean tou-san?" Touma asked with a tilt of his head.
"You are just like your mother. Honestly he's always up to something, coming with new jutsu, modifying seals, everything" he scoffed, but there was a proud smile on his face "You are like him... I'm sure you'll do great things as well" he said, putting a hand on top of his hair that had started turning white on more recent years.
The words of his father had made him warm up and soon any shame or doubts about his behavior had disappeared and he had gone back to his usual curiosity and hunger of knowledge.
And that's how, at the age of 13,he found himself tracing a seal on a piece of paper and then starting to infuse the thing with chakra. This was going to be his masterpiece! He was sure of that!... Or that was it until it blow up on his face... Literally...
"Pfft, what did you do now squirt?" An alpha girl with red hair looked down at him with an amused smiled.
Touma frowned slightly at the sight of her cousin. She was 3 years older than him and was the daughter of his uncle Hashirama and aunt Mito.
"I was trying to contain an explosion inside the paper with a seal..." Be explained with a deep sigh, blowing a strand of his white hair off his face.
Himari jumped down from the branch she was on and helped Touma up, looking with curiosity at the seal "Why don't you ask your mother? He's done this kind of stuff a lot in the past, I'm sure he could help" she suggested with a small shrug of her shoulders.
Touma pouted, looking away with a small blush, and Himari could tell that he didn't want to ask his mother because he wanted to impress him doing this without his help.
"Can't you help? Isn't the clan of your mom like really good with fuinjutsu?" He asked, taking a new piece of paper to start all over again.
Himari shrugged "I guess, but I'm not really into that, most of the time I'm training with my dad. But maybe I can ask my mom, or I maybe I can check for any scrolls" she said, leaning over his shoulder to see him work "but why are you doing this exactly?"
"Well... My dad told me that basically the symbol of the Uchiha represents the control we have over fire or something like that. I didn't put that much attention, but well, it would be fitting if I get to put fire inside a seal don't you think? We would be able to use it without using barely any chakra" he explained with a shrug.
Himari looked at him impressed "well, that would be useful but is that even possible?" She asked
"A long time ago, my mom told me that the right seals could contain anything we want" he said with a smile "I'm sure it's possible, I only have to find the right way..."
-----------------------------
It had taken him a while to make it work, and a little more to perfection it, but soon enough his effort had been repaid.
He had gone out with Himari and other two young shinobis to escort a merchant that was going from the Senju to the Uchiha compound. It wasn't that big of a travel, but lately the merchants who took the route had been attacked by a bunch of shinobis. They hadn't determined yet from what clan the shinobi were but the attacks seemed like a desperate attempt to avoid that the Uchiha and Senju kept growing.
They had been only halfway to the Uchiha compound when Touma felt it.
"Someone is approaching!" He alerted his team. His sensory skills weren't half as good as his mother's, but he had been working on them with his help, and they had come in handy this time.
"How many?" The group leader asked him, and at that question his face paled.
"At least 20 sir..." Touma replied.
"What?! That's too much to go just for a merchant!" Himari yelled.
Their leader nodded, but there was not time to dwell on it "Protect the civilian, get prepared to fight. Touma, flare an alarm" he spat orders.
Touma nodded and closed his eyes, concentrating to extend his chakra as far as possible and as close to the Uchiha territory as possible and made it flare in alarm, hoping it would be enough, hoping He would feel it...
The small army reached them and it soon turned into a blood bath. They had been just 4. They were ready to fight any small attack to a merchant, but not an army, they were still young, between 13 and 17 years old and were trying to protect the merchant man.
"Ahhh!" An ear piercing scream caught Touma's attention, turning to see his other Teammate, a 15 year old beta girl who was now being pierced through the chest by an enemy's spear.
"Touma!" Himari's voice brought him back to reality as she raised a wall of earth in front of him, blocking a bunch of arrows his way.
Touma pushed through the shock, fear and anger of seeing his teammate die like that and focused on fighting, forming some hand seals, inhaling deeply and then spitting a ball of fire at the enemy.
"Himari, Touma..." Their leader called them. He looked worse for wear, he looked exhausted, he hadn't been blessed by a big pool of chakra like the other two, and it was showing "Take the man and..." He didn't get to finish his sentence when an arrow pierced through his skull.
Things went downhill from there and soon the merchant got killed in the cross fire.
Touma and Himari started trying to retreat, and although they had managed to take a bunch of them down, things looked bad. They were young, their chakra still hadn't reached it's full potential and they were getting tired...
"Himari... I have an idea, I need you to cover me for a moment" he asked as they run through the forest, the enemy hot on their heels.
Himari bit her bottom lip but nodded, making the hand seals and then blowing a strong current of air towards the army after them, throwing them back a little and making them lose their balance.
"Now! Run!" Touma yelled. Himari didn't know what her cousin was planning but she ran after him, glancing back and noticing the papers on the trees and just as the enemy reached the area they were, suddenly they burst into an explosion.
"You did it..." She muttered in disbelief as she kept running.
And although that had certainly earned them some time, it hadn't stopped the army after them that by now was just half of what it had been at the beginning.
"AH!" Himari's scream made him stop, turning around just to see her kneeling on the floor, an arrow on her leg.
"Himari!" He hurried to kneel next to her, but she only smiled with tears on her eyes.
"Just run you squirt!" She begged, seeming resigned to die there.
Touma's face scrunched with distress "I'm not leaving you!" He said and he pulled his dagger out, standing in front of her, facing the army head on letting out a war cry.
He felt his heart pounding wildly on his chest as he faced the army. He knew he couldn't win, he wasn't that delusional, but he refused to leave Himari behind, he was gonna protect her to his last damn breath!
And suddenly it was as if the world had cleared in front of him. Suddenly the enemies charging their bows and aiming them at him was as clear as if it was happening in front of his face in slow motion. He saw the arrows coming, he could tell where they were going, he could dodge them... But if he did that they would hit Himari...
Maybe he could use a jutsu... But he was nearing chakra exhaustion...
He sighed, determined to take the arrows and to shield Himari, so he closed his eyes. Waiting for the hit and the pain, but then he felt something sparkle on his sensory field and the hit never came...
He opened his eyes slowly and he saw a blue figure enveloping him and Himari, having stopped the arrows from reaching and in front of them was the unwavering man he knew, with his chakra roaring around him like the flames of hell.
"Dad..." He was breathless.
"Madara! Now!" Tobirama's voice startled Touma as he saw his mother making a massive wall of water in front of them and soon saw his father throwing a ball of fire at the wall.
The whole battlefield was covered in mist, but Touma could see everything clearly, he could see the confusion of the enemies and then the screams as a massive water dragon teared them apart, only to be followed by the sword of the susanoo cutting off any survivors trying to escape.
Touma had been mesmerized, he had never seen his parents fight and it sent chills down his spine, because something told him this was nothing but the surface of their strength...
In mere seconds the battlefield was cleared and his father turned to look at him, his eyes widening a little as his mother joined them, looking equally surprised.
Madara put his hand on Touma's cheek, and it suddenly made sense why the world had cleared.
"The sharingan..."
