Wildmoore's Music

Summary:

An archive of every song mentioned in a Wildmoore fanfic / story

** SONGS UPDATED THROUGH: 7/16/2024 **

Chapter Text

So, I really wanted a playlist of all the songs that this fandom has included in their Wildmoore fanfics... just a big playlist that I could listen to, sort of like a “soundtrack for Wildmoore” curated by the fandom by way of these stories.

So that’s what this is: Every song ever mentioned in a Wildmoore fanfic (*on ao3).

Wildmoore’s Music is intended to include every song mentioned in a Wildmoore fanfic/story, so if a song was referenced or mentioned in any way - through the title of a story, described in the chapter text as playing over the radio, referenced jokingly in conversation between characters, commented on in the writer’s Notes section, etc. - it is included here… with a few exceptions and caveats.

Click the arrow if you would like to read the nitty gritty details about what counts as a ‘song mention’. You can 100% skip this if you’d like.

If a song is mentioned multiple times in a story (i.e. once in chapter 2, then again in chapter 10, and in the story title etc.), the song is only recorded as being mentioned once in the datafile and playlists. The first time the song is mentioned in chapter text is used as the main reference, even if it is referenced in the story title.

For example, although the lyrics of ‘The Way’ by Jill Scott are used as the title of alphagirl007 (kayandkimsmom1)’s story, ‘The Way You Love Me’, the song isn’t mentioned in the chapter text until chapter 5. So, the chapter 5 date and text are used for placement in the datafile and playlists and this is counted as ‘one mention’ even though technically it is mentioned twice (or 2+ times) in the story.

Nursery Rhymes like Mary Had a Little Lamb, Humpty Dumpty, and Ring Around the Rosie were not included. (You’d be surprised at how many of these were referenced lol).

Kids Songs, however, like theme songs from Paw Patrol and Disney songs (e.g. from Princess and the Frog, Encanto or Frozen, etc.) were included.

The general version of Happy Birthday was omitted, however, mentions of specific versions (like Stevie Wonder’s) were included.

Only explicit references to Megan Thee Stallion’s song Hot Girl Summer were counted. If someone mentioned ‘Hot girl summer’ in general, or some derivative of this like ‘Hot Girl Sophie” or “Hot Sophie Summer”, these were not counted as references to the song.

I did not include songs that were mentioned in stories where Sophie Moore/Ryan Wilder are not the main ship. So stories about other arrowverse shows like the Flash or Legends of Tomorrow that just so happened to include Sophie and Ryan as a couple were not used.

Additionally (and this can be changed) I did not include songs from stories where Sophie/Ryan/Mary are the tag, because technically it is a different pairing (i.e. not just Sophie/Ryan). I have NO problem including these if anyone request it.

I am 100% certain that I missed references to some songs, so if you notice that one is not included (especially if you wrote the story the song is mentioned in) definitely let me know, and I can add it to the datafile and playlists.

I am also 100% certain that I made some wrong assumptions about references to songs. As in the writer was not actually referring to any song but I thought they were. (Again, if this happened, especially if you are the writer, also let me know so I can remove the song)

I tried though, in general, to err on the side of NOT including a song if I wasn’t sure about it. Here are the ones that could be references to songs but I am not quite sure if that’s what the writer intended. At the moment these are NOT included in the data file, playlists or dashboard:

  • Song: Highlight of My Life by Dolly Parton; Story: highlight(s) of my life by youngerdrgrey; Mentioned in Title
  • Song: Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish; Story: Happier Than Ever by FemslashFantasies; Mentioned in Title
  • Song: jealousy, jealousy by Olivia Rodrigo; Story: Jealousy, Jealousy! by Wyldmooreslut ; Mentioned in Title
  • Song: Starving by Hailee Steinfeld, Grey, Zedd; Story: She gives you butterflies by Write_as_it_rains ; Mentioned in Chapter 2 (“She gives you butterflies.” Mary stated matter-of-factly, she had followed Ryan’s gaze that was still trained on Sophie. They were quiet for a few moments and then Ryan looked at Mary. “She gives me the whole damn zoo.” Ryan finally said. Mary laughed and shoulder bumped Ryan.)

Phew! That was a lot. If you read all that and have questions about the ‘data’ feel free to ask in the comments.

Wildmoore’s Music includes a dashboard you can visit on desktop or mobile where you can search and explore the music. If you are on an ipad or something similar you can pick either one, though I'd suggest desktop... the layout is better.

Below, and on the dashboard, you can view the top artists, songs and genres from the Wildmoore fanic fandom and listen to the playlists.

Playlists

Below are a couple of playlists, I figured everyone might not want to listen to the 700+ song wm.complete playlist. So I broke it up into some sub-genres and categories. They are linked below.

Click the arrow for more information about the playlists and playlists' covers.

All playlists are in order of date mentioned, but only the complete playlist has duplicates. So if you mentioned a song but that was the 3rd time it was mentioned in the fandom fanfics then you might not see it where you mentioned it in the playlist. (hopefully that makes sense).

For each playlist there are two options on the cover. The first cover which is linked in the playlist title is the one that has a scene photo with Ryan and Sophie. Then second cover is the exact same playlist with a minimalistic design. I added this because if anyone follows you on Spotify or if you are listening in a place where it is not so safe for you to be 'out' with pictures of beautiful queer woman on display, then you can listen more discretely (Or if you just like the minimalistic design better.) The 2nd covers, if you put them next to each other, display the pride flag and lesbian flag with the colors of their text (discrete, but still queer)

You can also search by Artist (i.e. Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Whitney Houston), Story (i.e. Night Rider, Life is A Song, A Perfect Verse Over A Tight Beat), or Writer (i.e. WilderxMoore, WritersNook, BWildmoore, Dianascanary).

Click the arrow for other details that you don’t have to read but can if you want to ... (especially, if you are a data person)

I’m a researcher / data analyst by trade, so most of my job revolves around collecting, organizing and analyzing information for other people to consume. And I love it. I love stats, numbers, data, etc, and all that. (don’t judge me too harshly)

So, this is my version of like fanart I guess, because I can NOT draw to save my life but I do excel with a spreadsheet (*laughs in pun, why am I like this?)

For anyone who is into data, coding, etc., you can look at all the data / code that I used for this project on the aptly named, Data & Code page of the dashboard. It’s mostly R/r shiny, but also a little html, css and JavaScript - still a beginner in those last three languages so don’t expect pro-level code. I probably should have used python instead of R for this looking back but hindsight is 20/20 ya know.

If you do visit the dashboard (desktop or mobile), let me know your thoughts. It’s still kind of in a beta stage so, everything might not work exactly right (like I haven't quite figured out how to get spotify embeds to play correctly on all android phones ... sorry, I’m working on it)  but I’ll be improving it over the next couple of weeks based on feedback. And definitely reach out if you are a fellow computer science/data science nerd lol.

This was an incredibly fun project for me to do over the last 6 months. I genuinely loved every second of making it. I hope you all enjoy Wildmoore’s Music even half as much as I did.

With so much LOVE,
