Summary:

Not plot just snippets of Bigby, Woody, and Grendel taking care of a baby.

Enjoy the fluff

Notes:

Again, no I'm not abandoning paper rings or the bat nabbed au. I just wanted to write pure wholesomness.

Work Text:

"Smile for the camera, Ollie!"

The small infant babbled at his aunt Snow giving her a wide-eyed look of confusion as she set the camera up.

"Does this really need to be so…" Bigby sucked in a breath. "Elaborate?"

"Yes. Yes, it does. It's a family photo and it should be absolutely perfect. That includes Colin looking decent!" She hissed at the pig, glaring at him as she got the camera right.

The pig grumbled about his silly bow tie and his squeaky clean appearance. "You act like I'm covered in shit."

"You smell like it."

"Could we not do this, please?" Bigby groaned.

"Yeah, Bigs is right, sweetie. Besides, we're gonna do it again when the kid is older."

Snow shook her head at her wife. "Doesn't matter. It should still be professional."

Holly rolled her eyes as Snow finally got the camera right.

"Ready?" Snow joined the others as the camera counted down.

Bigby looked down at the small infant and nodded. Things seemed to be in order.

"Ready."

With a bright flash of the camera, a photo was taken of a happy family.

MONTH 1

Usually, Clementine, the family cat, was locked out of the nursery to prevent anything bad happening.

However, some nights they forgot to close the door, and they started noticing a pattern.

Every time they locked Clementine out, Ollie would scream his head off as if it was the end of the world.

But if they forgot then Ollie would have no trouble sleeping through most of the night.

It didn't take a scientist to realize Ollie loved when Clementine slept in his crib.

So with hesitation, they let their fat orange hairball sleep with Ollie.

Suddenly, their nights became easier.

MONTH 5

“WAAAAAAAAHHH”

Bigby was losing his mind. It was hard enough becoming a temporary house husband, but to handle a teething baby? He was at the end of his rope.

He tried all the tricks: teething toys, frozen waffles, teething biscuits, everything he could. But nothing would calm Ollie down.

"I'm trying, little bug, I promise."

Bigby desperately looked for something for Ollie to chew on. Ollie's cries grew worse and in a desperate attempt to get him to stop, he offered the knuckle of his finger.

"Take it! Please! I'm sorry, bud!"

Ollie chewed on Bigby's knuckle for a moment then began to cry. He let out a sigh of defeat.

"I'll take him from here."

Bigby turned to Woody. "Didn't even realize you came home."

"Came in through the back door." Woody chuckled. "Go rest. I'll handle dinner and the baby."

Bigby smiled in relief and gave Woody a kiss. "Thank you."

MONTH 8

"Come on! Crawl to Papa!" Grendel extended his arms out, reaching out to the small baby rocking back and forth.

"Come on little man! Let's start crawling!"

Woody was rocking back and forth with Ollie, encouraging him to crawl.

Soft babbles and several tiny moments later, Ollie slowly crawled towards Grendel. Then fell on his side.

The Woodsman laughed as his baby boy looked confused as to what had just happened. Ollie didn't even realize he fell. He just looked around in bewilderment as one minute he was going to Papa, and the next he was on his side.

"C’mer lil bug." Woody scooped up Ollie and blew raspberries on his cheek, causing the infant to laugh. "You'll get the hang of it soon enough."

"Pfft. The Woodsman: world's biggest softie."

"Fuck off, Gren."

The two leaned in for a kiss, one soft and sweet.

Ollie whined, breaking the kiss. "Oh, you want a kiss too? You want kisses from Papa and Pop Pop?"

Woody and Grendel kissed the baby's cheeks, causing a shrill laugh and shriek of excitement

MONTH 11

A cute thing Woody and Gren noticed when dating Bigby was that he'd shake his body like a typical dog when he got soaked.

It was amusing, not to mention absolutely precious. This habit wouldn’t end with him though.

Ollie loved bath time. He loved playing in the water with all the bubbles and toys. Naturally, Bigby would get soaked every time he gave Ollie a bath.

One night, Woody was in charge of bath time.

"Alright lil bug, you ready for bath time?"

Ollie squealed in delight, flailing his arms and legs as he was set down into bubbly water. The baby laughed when Woody carefully scrubbed his soft skin clean and poured water over his head.

Suddenly, Ollie shook his body wildly, first his head then his butt.
Just like bigby did.

"Holy shit...Gren! Bigby! Come look at this!"

Bigby and Gren ran to the bathroom, expecting something either tragic or something sweet enough to cause a diabetic attack.

Woody carefully poured water over Ollie, who shook his body wildly to get dry.

"Oh my god-" Bigby covered his mouth.

"HE SHAKES LIKE BIGS! HA!" Gren slapped his knees.

"Next thing we know, he's gonna howl when it's a full moon!"

Bigby covered his face. "Oh, shut up!" He couldn't hold back a smile. It was just so cute. His baby thought he was a pup.

MONTH 13

Bigby dusted off his apron, admiring his handiwork. “Cleaned the living room, did the laundry…I think that's all I need to do for today.” He looked at Ollie, who was happily chewing on toy blocks. “Ready for our evening walk?”

….

With Ollie fastened into his stroller, Bigby made his way down the beaten path, letting Ollie soak in the sights and smells of the forest.

The forest they lived in was a cozy spot. It was near a large pond of water where fables would have picnics or play in the water. At the scene, Bigby sat Ollie down in the grass, letting him dig and play in the dirt.

“Hey look! It's the sheriff!”

Bigby turned to Pinocchio, relaxing a little, as the boy approached him.

“Hey, Pinocchio. How have you been?”

“I've been great. How are you and the baby? Word spread around fast about the lil tike.” Pinocchio knelt toward Bigby and Ollie.

“You know, I know it's none of my business, but he really needs a mother.”

Oh god…not this. “Pinocchio, do me a solid, and fuck off.”

“I'm just saying, he needs a motherly figure in his life. But you do alright. I'm sure you're a great dad.”

Before Pinocchio could continue, his name was called out by Boy Blue.

“Welp, see ya later Bigs.”

Bigby did his best not to curse at the boy - his anger boiling. What the fuck did he know? He turned to Ollie, and his frustration disappeared when the baby tugged on a patch of grass.

“What does he know, right Ollie?” Bigby chuckled to himself. “I think that's enough fresh air for now. Let's go home and make dinner.”

MONTH 15

“WOODY! GRENDEL! COME QUICK!”

Bigby shouted from the living room. Woody and Gren made haste out of the dining room and toward the call, panicking as they barged in.

“What happened-” Woody didn't say another word. He and Grendel watched Ollie gaze up at them, then slowly waddle towards them.

Ollie babbled nonsense as he walked to his three dads.

Grendel fell to his knees, sobbing as he reached out and scooped Ollie up into his arms.

“Sorry for scaring you two. But I couldn't have you miss his first steps.”

Gren shook his head, smiling as he hugged his baby boy.

“You're lucky I'm too happy to smack you.” Gren chuckled.

Woody sat down on the couch, watching two people he loved most in this world sob over a baby's first steps. Even he was teary-eyed.

“Y’know, when Ollie's older, we should have another baby.”

The two snapped their heads up at Woody.
