Work Text:
Levi sits at his desk, intensely focused on the work in front of him. He types furiously on his keyboard, brows furrowed in concentration. The alpha only had a few more emails to send then he could go home. If he was fast enough he might even beat Eren home. That realization brought a smile to his face. The past few weeks had been stressful; working overtime after the holidays had taken its toll. He was ready for a nice relaxing night at home with his favorite omega.
A knock on the door brought him out of his thoughts. It was just the office delivery man. The alpha gave him a crooked grin. “Special delivery!”
Levi hummed not paying attention, more focused on his work. “I think this one will interest you in particular Mr. Ackerman~.” The delivery man teased.
Levi snapped his head up and snatched the pastel pink envelope out of the man’s hands. “Who sent this?” He demanded, feeling his stomach sink.
The other man shrugged. “Don’t know. I just deliver it. There is no return address.”
Levi looked down at the packet and frowned. The front bore only his name elegantly scripted in cursive, the "i" embellished with a heart, surrounded by an array of tiny red hearts scattered across the surface.
Mr. Velacso snickered. “Another early Valentine's present eh boss? I thought you hated that stuff.”
Levi scoffed. This was no present. This was sent to mock him. “Don’t you have more mail to deliver?” The other alpha finally relented and left him alone.
Once the office door shut, he clicked his tongue his cursed secret admirer had struck again, the alpha toyed with the letter, torn between discarding it without even seeing what was inside but then again there could be clues as to who this mystery person was. Ultimately, curiosity seized him, Levi ripped open the envelope and scanned the letter.
Dear Levi,
It is no secret how I feel about you.
You are the strongest alpha in the world and I feel so strongly that we are meant to be together forever.
So will you be my Valentine Until the end of time?
Love, forever yours
Levi’s heart was in his throat after reading the short letter. This secret admirer of his got straight to the point. And worst of all there were no clues as to who this person was! There was no name or no identifying information! What kind of sicko would give someone this kind of note and no way to contact them?
Unless… Levi stood up gripping the letter in his hands and stormed into Erwin's office.
The other alpha looked up surprised. “Ah Levi, what can I do for you?”
Levi waved the letter in Erwin’s face. “Enough with this shit. Why are you doing this? To tease me? To see me get irritated?”
Erwin looked at him like he had completely lost his mind. “What the hell are you talking about Levi?”
Levi scoffed his anger getting the better of him. “Like you don’t know. Is Hange in on this too? Did you think it would be funny to send me valentines shit?”
Erwin shook his head in disbelief. “Levi I can assure you I have nothing to do with this. I have my hands full planning out Valentine's gifts for Armin and the girls you think I have time to make a prank with Hange? I’m not 18 anymore.”
Levi chewed on the inside of his cheek, feeling a little embarrassed. He did come in a little hot just automatically assuming his friends were tricking him. “I’m sorry. It’s just-. This past week I’ve been getting these weird gifts from a ‘secret admirer’ and this letter was the last straw I guess.”
Erwin leaned forward in his seat, obviously interested in his story. “Oh? Do share.”
He sighed and sat down across from his friend. “Last Friday when I came into work I had this box waiting for me on my desk. It was this really old fountain pen. Then on Monday, I had a box of my favorite tea, and today…” Levi waved the letter around.
The other alpha cocked his head, chuckling to himself. “I’m sorry you thought this was all an elaborate prank by me and Hange? Levi…my dear friend. It sounds like someone is trying to court you!”
“I-I what?” He breathed out feeling flush. Why would someone do that? Everyone who knows him knows he is already very much spoken for.
Erwin shrugged. “Those aren’t random gifts. They are well thought out and catered to you.”
That wasn’t making Levi feel any better. “You’re crazy. Who? Everyone I know is either a child or mated.”
Erwin stroked his chin. “Any of the moms in the omega pack seem particularly interested in you?”
Levi rolled his eyes. His friend wasn’t helping him. “You mean the moms with kids and mates of their own? No. And even if it was them, why go to all the trouble of sending it to my office? Why not send it to my apartment?”
“Maybe they didn’t want Eren to see it?” His friend suggested. “We all know Eren tends to get a little jealous when it comes to you.”
Levi suddenly felt sick. All this time he thought this was some prank by his friends but it was clear now that another omega was trying to court him… Oh shit, it made him feel even worse that he had been (unintentionally) hiding this from Eren.
His sweet omega hated when someone so much as breathed in his direction. What would he do when he found out someone had been giving him gifts? That someone wanted to be his Valentine until the end of time? “You better hope Eren never finds the person sending you this stuff.” Erwin (unhelpfully) added.
Levi stood back up, he needed to get rid of all these ‘gifts’, and more importantly he needed to find whoever this secret admirer was and tell them to stop. That he already had an omega he loved more than anything in this world. “You will not speak a word of this to anyone. I need you to make a list of potential suspects. I have to destroy the evidence. ”
Erwin scoffed. “Of course Levi. Let me take time out of my busy day and make a list of omegas that are hot for you.”
Levi wasn’t listening; he was already walking out of the office and back into his. Sitting at his desk He opened the drawer with his forbidden gifts. He picked up the fountain pen, feeling its weight in his hand, exhaling a soft sigh of appreciation. Its elegant design and fine craftsmanship were a testament to its quality. He loved these pens.
He then cast his glance to the box of tea which felt like it was calling out to him to just have one cup … It was his favorite…it would be a waste to throw it out right? A part of him knew he should get rid of the items especially since they weren’t from his omega and he would feel guilty every time he looked at or used the items. Maybe he should bring them home and tell Eren they were gifts from a friend? Eren got stupid little gifts from his friends all the time. What was the difference? But then there was the letter, if he showed that to Eren…
A text message from his phone alerted him that Armin was on his way to drop Eren off at home. Levi cursed to himself. He shoved the letter away with the rest of the items to deal with later. He needed to get home.
As Levi drove home all he could think about who could be his mysterious admirer. His mind flashed to a few years ago when all of the omegas in Eren’s pack became obsessed with him. But there was no way a 9-year-old could think of these gifts and send them to his office. Especially without an adult finding out. And there was no way it was one of the moms. Sure they battled their eyelashes at him but they were all in happy healthy relationships.
Maybe it was one of the new omegas at the office? At a stop light, Levi groaned and hit his head on the steering wheel. These gifts were so personal though! Someone that knew him and what he liked. These weren’t random gifts that some office crush would give him. It was so frustrating! The last option was Hange playing a little joke on him. He would text them later and demand an explanation.
Once at home, he was a little disappointed to see Eren was already there sitting at the table happily doing his homework. “Ah, there’s my princess.”
His omega jumped up and ran to him immediately wrapping his arms around his waist. “Lee! You’re home!”
Levi’s mind was wiped of all stresses as his omega smiled brightly up at him. He bent down and pressed a quick kiss to his lips then nuzzled their noses together. “How was your day my love?”
Eren giggled and let go of his waist. “Good! We passed Valentine's gifts and cards in class today! Then at Armin’s, me and Mikasa made some more cards for our friends tomorrow!”
Levi hummed and ruffled Eren’s hair. “That sounds fun.”
His omega nodded excitedly. “Yeah! How was yours? Anything fun happened?”
He felt himself stiffen. “Uh. No. Nothing too exciting to note. Sending emails. Boring meetings.” Time to change the subject before he let his little secret slip. “What do you feel like for dinner? I’m thinking something easy…” He missed the almost crestfallen look on Eren’s face as he quickly walked into the kitchen to start on dinner.
The omega trailed behind the alpha knowing he was hiding something and he was not one to be deterred. Levi felt himself smile as Eren came up behind him in the kitchen. “Um Lee I think I feel like soup and sandwiches.”
“Oh, that sounds good my love. We have that roasted bell pepper and tomato soup and you can make grilled cheese.”
Eren grinned. “Yeah! That sounds yummy!” After that agreement, the couple began making their dinner. Levi took over the soup pouring the liquid into the pan as well as adding some more seasonings and sausage while Eren made them some grilled cheese and ham sandwiches. When dinner was completed they sat down at the table and dug in. Levi noticed almost immediately that Eren wasn’t eating as enthusiastically as usual, he was staring at him intently as if he was watching his every move. “What’s up, princess? Do you not like your soup?”
The younger one shook his head and threw his hands up in the air excitedly. “Tastes fine. Tell me more about your day! It’s the day before Valentine's Day! Did anyone come running through the office announcing their love? Deliver a huge bouquet of roses? Anything super duper romantic!?”
Levi cocked his head in confusion. “You’ve been watching too many romantic comedies, my love. Nobody does that stuff in real life.”
Eren’s excitement deflated almost immediately like Levi just told him Santa or the tooth fairy wasn’t real (which he unfortunately had experience with). Maybe he should have sugar-coated it a little or made up some stupid story.
Eren crossed his arms and frowned deeply at him. “So nothing romantic happened? No special deliveries?!”
Special deliveries…. Levi squinted his eyes at the omega across from him. Why would he use those specific words... “What’s going on?”
Eren looked at him like he was the stupidest, most dense person in the world. “What do you mean what’s going on!? Did you or did you not get any packages!”
Levi recoiled back completely shocked. “How did you…?”
Eren stood up from his seat shaking his head and looking annoyed. “No no! It wasn’t supposed to be like this!”
Levi had known Eren long enough to know when a meltdown was about to happen, he quickly got out of his seat and knelt down in front of the nine-year-old. “Hey, hey. Princess. Tell me what’s going on?”
Eren looked at him, his bright ocean eyes brimming with tears. “First you have to say if you got any gifts from a secret admirer.”
Levi shook his head in disbelief he suddenly felt so stupid. Who was the one person on this earth who knew him better than anyone? Who was the one person that he was living for? Who was the only omega in his life? “Oh, my love I did. I got two of the best Valentine's presents I’ve ever gotten.”
His omega gave a small smile. “Really really?”
He nodded smiling. The alpha couldn’t believe himself. How did he not see the obvious signs? “How did you pull it off?”
Eren jumped into his arms laughing. “Easy! I told Hange I wanted to surprise you and they gave me your office address! Then I ordered your gifts using your credit card!”
Levi was going to have to look more closely at his credit card statements. God only knows what Eren had been ording without his knowledge. “Wow. I’m impressed. I’m so glad it was you.”
“My note!” Eren shouted in his ear. “Did you get my note?”
He nodded kissing Eren’s cheeks Thank god he memorized the letter. “You know what I did. And I wholeheartedly accept. I would be honored to be your valentine forever.”
“Until the end of time .” The omega corrected.
“Until the end of time then.” The alpha repeated back.
Eren put his hands on his cheeks and pulled him into a kiss. Everything melted away all that mattered was Eren here in his arms, kissing him like his life depended on it. Now that the alpha had Valentine forever he better start thinking of ways to outdo this year's Valentine’s because it seemed like his omega was starting a competition. And he was not going to be outdone.
