Chapter Text
Hide and Seek
Pov.:?
A monster in disguise, drawing others in with dark allure. He moves with undeniable magnetism, relishing the power he holds over those captured by his gaze. They tremble in his presence, captured by his charm. Labeled as charming, it's a facade to conceal his complexities. Beneath lies a heart as deep as the abyss, masking the darkness within with effortless grace.
The devil, he tempts with words dipped in honey, the unsuspecting prey yet to taste the hidden poison. Sweet whispers caress crimson-tinted ears, soft as velvet but carrying a toxin slowly gnawing from within. An addictive elixir savored by many, yet few emerge unscathed. Delusion veils their fear, spinning tales of unforgettable nights and moonlit conversations under starry skies. A fleeting touch leaves both men and women yearning for more.
A captivating figure clad in luxurious attire, movements swift and fluid as a predator stalking its prey through dense underbrush. Each step calculated, a testament to years of honed instinct. Piercing blue eyes mirror a rushing mountain river, inviting yet concealing unseen dangers beneath the surface. Body and mind sculpted from youth for aristocracy, forged by harsh education and undisclosed fortunes, crafting an unparalleled individual.
Setting his eyes on someone has never boded well for the unfortunate individual.
And Law? He trembled with barely concealed desire. Oh he was truly one of a kind.
Pov.: Law
Fear. Raw, primal and instinctual fear cursed through his veins. What has he done? God, what has he done?!
How could someone be so stupid he chisted himself. Getting involved with the rival pirates was nothing new, the navy? Hell,Law sees them at every corner. But the fucking revolutionary army ? Now that is a new achievement.
A low level spy would have been a hindrance but not a problem, before anyone found out what happened,he would already be ten islands away.
Law didn't fuck up plans, he made them- perfect and without failure and if by any chance he encountered a problem, there were already five different back up plans ready to be set in motion.
He didn't account for someone to ruin every.Single.One.
It had been unexpected, worrisome and downright frightening. They were smart, a genius to be able to match his wits. Law knew that the odds were not in his favor. Only a handful of individuals scattered across the blue´s, Grand line and new world were on or…over his level. He dreaded the day one of them would work against him. At first he brushed the rising anxiety aside, telling himself it was only the excitement to encounter such an interesting individual.
After the third dead end, even his ego faltered, overshadowed by a growing sense of dread and despair.
This is wrong, he thought hysterically.
There shouldn't be a wall, there couldn't be a wall. He memorized the lay-outs of the building.
If someone asked him right now, where the next bathroom is, he could name every room on the top of his head and he would be able to describe the way to them without getting lost.
So in theory, Law would be able to walk straight on. Only in theory it seems, he thought sarcastically. Law´s dry sense of humor has stayed a persistent companion, throughout this fucked up game of hide and seek.
Thud…thud…thud
Shit!! No no NO! It's too soon, Law´s mind screeched.
The relentless drag of a metal pipe echoed through the hallway, mockingly making him aware of the owner's location. If he didn't know any better, Law would have charged heads on into the direction.
But he knew, he knew what the wielder of the metal pipe was capable of. He had seen it with his own two eyes.
The sickening crunch of a man's skull, the pained screams and desperate pleas for mercy falling on deaf ears. The sadistic grin adorning his face, the true face of a monster.
Mangled corpses littering the ground around him, blood splatters on concrete walls- manic laughter filling the hallways. The air thick with the smell of ash and burned flesh. A gruesome scene, straight out of a nightmare.
Law´s stomach churned at the memory, the scent stuck in his nose, the feeling of crushed insides under his sole still fresh in his mind.
Over him, the light bulb began to flicker.
In retrospect the mission was fairly simple, get in, steal the info, get out.
But life has never been kind to Law.
He did not anticipate the revolutionaries number 2 to be at headquarters. It should have been empty, sparse a few singularities he had managed to avoid with ease.
Dragons office had been a false lead, casting a small room he had read through the documents at hyperspeed.
His next destination was then number two´s office.
Too bad for Law, the aforementioned had planned a good `old torture session in it. Obvious to the use of the room, he had opened the door, just to be greeted with the sight of a man strung to a chair. The only noise penetrating the air were the shallow breaths of the man, hinting at his condition.
even a child could see that he had one foot in the grave. The man, tied to the chair, bore deep cuts, bruises, and swollen features from repeated beatings. Blood trickled from open wounds, his face disfigured and one eye swollen shut, the other a gaping hole. His hands, bound behind him, showed torn nails and raw wrists.
Slowly the one responsible for the injuries turned to Law. A bloodied knife in one hand, a carved out eye in the other.
“Oh? That's unusual, normally I don't get visitors around this time”.
Law´s body went rigid, he clenched the doorknob, shock so deeply settled into his bones he didn't notice how it changed shape, forming under his hand.
The copper taste of blood filled his mouth, lips shut- teeth grinding together under the pressure, caught between; soft skin inside his mouth.
Luckily Law had the foresight to disguise himself before breaking in, black gloves and a cloak hiding his identity. Even so, Sabo`s gaze bore right through him, curiosity shining in his eyes.
“My my, i don't think i`ve seen you here before”, clearly amused, Sabo turned away from the man. Setting the eye onto the nearby table, he then grabbed a cloth to clean his knife.
The steel emerged blood tinted.
RUN every cell in Law´s body screamed.
And run he did. Like the devil chased after him.
As Law dashed through the dim hallway, the echo of his own footsteps was accompanied by a haunting sound—a faint but unmistakable rhythm of footfalls echoing from behind. Each step seemed to draw closer, a menacing beat that sent shivers down his spine. The air grew heavier with every breath, thick with the oppressive weight of impending danger.
Law quickened his pace, the footsteps followed. He ascended a flight of stairs, the sound persisting.
Without care he dashed through the first door to his left, straight into an assembled group of-pirates?
Did they have the same idea as me? Unable to ponder over the possibility any longer, Law rushed past the stunned group.
Behind them the door opened for a second time.
“Ahh what a hassle, why did you have to run?” the revolutionaries' voice sounded frustrated “ we could have had a nice chat in my office”.
As if , Law's inner voice spat out with vigor. If I stayed, I would have suffered the same fate as the other guy.
Finally noticing they were not alone, Law felt Sabo´s gaze leave him and focus on the other occupants inside the room.
All of a sudden the temperature dropped to zero. Shivers racked his body- no, that's not quite right. Law did feel cold, scratch that he was freezing out of fear-but…
Then it started. Before he was any wiser the first person began to scream. Then the second, the third, fourth, fifth- after the seventh he began to lose count.
The air hung heavy with stifling heat, the room illuminated so brightly that Law found himself instinctively averting his eyes, despite the late hour when darkness should have enveloped the space.
And as fast as it began, it stopped.
A jarring silence engulfed everything. Not sparing the person behind him a glance, Law hurried outside. The sickening quelch of limbs being deformed told him everything he needed to know.
Stepping out into the new hallway the clock rang one.
Pov.: Sabo
A new hour began, a new round started. Sabo smiled to himself, did this person knew what they were getting into when they stepped into his territory ?
It didn't matter anyways. Because Sabo was nothing if not relentless.
~One building. One hunter. One prey.
~The stakes are raised higher and higher, who will be successful ? Will Law remain unscattered? Or will he be able to escape all together? What is Sabo planning?
And what exactly is his goal..?
