Chapter 1: School

Chapter Text

"Don't you understand? I can't be with you!" The brunette said a little frustrated.

" why not?" said the blonde with crystallized eyes.

"Because it's wrong" He paused slightly to contain the tears that threatened to come out. "It's illegal" his voice broke "my parents would never accept it".

"That's stupid, no one has to know" David cried.

Both boys were devastated, Mick couldn't speak, he felt a lump in his throat, seeing the boy who told him 'I love you' a while ago in that state was hurting him too much.

"They will find out" he wipes away the tears that have just come out.

David shook his head slightly. "...no, they won't, we will be more careful" he insisted. Mick was slow to respond, he couldn't even look him in the eyes.

'I'm a coward'
he said to himself. "Goodbye David," he said with a broken voice before leaving.

David burst into tears when he saw Mick just leave.

'Oh damn, here we go again'

Mick said to himself upon hearing his alarm. I take my arm out of the quilt and turn off the alarm clock. He pulled his head out as well and took a deep breath before getting up and heading to the bathroom. He did his daily routine in his room, before going downstairs and seeing his mother in the kitchen, his younger brother, Chris having breakfast at the table next to his father. He ruffled his brother's hair, approached his mother, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello good morning!" He said smiling and took a seat next to his brother.
"Good morning son" they said in unison. "did you sleep well?" his father asked him.

"Uhmm...fantastic!" He said not so convinced, watching as his mother gave him a plate.

He loved his mother, and his father too, but he could never help but believe that he was a great disappointment to her, and that his father wouldn't love him if it weren't for his love of women and exercise, (especially footboll). Sometimes he believed that the only thing worth it was his brother Chris, his best friends, Charlie, Keith and his girlfriend Anita, and his perfect girlfriend Marianne. It certainly seemed like he had a perfect life. But he still didn't know how to tell all those wonderful people around him that he thought he was "sick." During the holidays, let's say that one night he had a wet dream, it was not one of the most 'common' ones since he had dreamed that one of his best male friends was touching him. He didn't know what was wrong with him, and he didn't want anyone to know.

On the way to school, having a talk with his brother, he ran into Keith and Anita.

"Hey! How was your vacation?" Anita asked.

"So-so... we didn't do much... and what did you do?"
Mick was really excited to hear his friends talk about it, since Anita's family let her go with Keith and his family. Basically their first vacation together as a couple.

"Well, I think I speak for both of us when I say it was fantastic," Keith said with a noticeable smile.

"Yes, her mother was very nice" they both looked at each other "did you see Marianne?"

"No, but we made calls"

"Sure, well... can you go out later? Like a double date?" the blonde asked.

"I don't know, I have to take care of Chris" he said pointing to his brother who was totally silent for the moment.

"Oh right, hello Chris!" Keith said now remembering that his friend had a brother.

.......

David looked in the mirror while combing his long hair and heard movement outside his room.

Terry opens the door...

"You're late," his brother reminded him.

"I know!... it-it's just that" His brother interrupted him.

"I know, you're nervous, it's normal" I try to reassure him.

Terry said he would give it another 5 minutes minutes to get ready before his mother gets mad, since it would be a horrible thing if it was his first day of school, and he was late, apart from being new, it really wouldn't be a nice thing.

Once at school, they gave him a schedule, a locker, and he headed to what would be his first class of the day. He knocked on the door, opened it and stuck his head out, he felt a horrible panic because he was a little late, plus he was entertained with the director, and finding his classroom, well... The students looked at him, just what he feared. .

"I can help?" the teacher asked in a quite friendly tone, much to his surprise.

"Uhhh... y-yeah!, I..." David started to stutter, his hands felt sweaty. "I'm new," he paused slightly, as he lowered his head to look at his feet. This is English class, right?" I was really afraid of making a mistake and having to go through this again.

"Yes, it's here" wow! David felt quite relieved. "Take a seat" David looked everywhere, there weren't many, only three, but he really didn't know if the person he was sitting with was stupid.
Finally he decided to take a seat next to the boy with brown hair and cute curls, who, by the way, also had beautiful eyes.

Nothing happened during that class, when the bell rang, the boys began to gather their things.

David looked at his schedule and then looked around.

"What's your next class?" The boy next to him asked.

"Uhmm, uhhh" he got nervous, he looked at his schedule again. "It's, uhhh.. the drama club."

"Really? Do you like theater?" the brunette asked, somewhat excited.

"Y-yeah, it's great." he said with a slight smile.

"Come on then, you don't want to be late, the teacher will really get angry" he laughed lightly as he left the room.

"You... are there too?" I asked a little confused and nervous.

"Yeah!" I look at him as he adjusts his backpack. "I'm Mick, by the way" he shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you," he shook her. "I'm David," he said with a slight smile.

David felt something strange, it was very pleasant to feel the hand of his new partner.

"It's my pleasure, David," he laughed lightly. Gently removing his hand "I'm sorry if it stifled you a little, I like to be friendly.." he said a little nervously.

Maybe he felt it too...

"N-no, it's okay, no one has ever wanted to talk to me like that before." he smiled.

"Oh no?" David shook his head, looking down. "Well, it's definitely absolute stupidity," he smiled. "I think you're very nice, I have a feeling we'll be good friends"

David just smiled, a little blushing. God, new school and David thinks he's already blowing it with another crush on a straight boy.

Chapter 2: New friend

Summary:

"Who is he?" Keith asks when he sees his best friend approach a stranger.

"Uh...umm, this is David, right?" the younger boy nods sheepishly. "He's new, and he's my new friend," he says as he invites him to sit down.

"So you're new?"

"Yes," he says somewhat shyly.

"Are you from here or... are you from somewhere else?" the brunette asks, somewhat nervous.

"I'm from Brixton"

"Wow"

"Yeah"

"You don't talk much, do you?... Are you shy?"

"Uh.. no" he answers shyly.

"You're a bit contradictory," Mick says with an amused tone in his voice.

"Sometimes... with people I don't know, you know." cuts quickly holding his books.

"Okay," Mick says before reaching the living room. "It's here," he nods before opening the door and entering.

It was really very strange for David, one of the only people who had spoken to him was the one with whom he shared 3 classes in a row on Monday. It was comforting and stressful at the same time, since rather than indulging in the activities, she paid more attention to the cute boy with brown hair, blue eyes, and thick lips next to her. After those hours the bell rang, Mick told him that he could spend free time with him and his friends, of course, he thought twice before accepting, because of course, it would be horrible to eat alone in a completely strange school.

"Do you bring lunch?" Mick turned to look at David, he didn't respond "or money?" I tilt my head slightly.

"I have an apple, and water" He said as if that were something really delicious.

"Uh... sounds good, but I think you won't survive with that. Come on, I'll pay." Mick took her hand and they got in the lunch line. Mick took her hand, again...

That's the only thing that was going through David's mind, and... oh actually he still does. He doesn't know it, but David can swear he's crazy. As the line continues to move, Mick notices it.

"Oh, sorry," he laughs. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was still grabbing you." You let go and he smiles sweetly.

no, no, no, no... no he says mentally David. Damn, only 3 hours and a few minutes and she's already fallen in love with a guy she just met. David is ashamed.

After eating their lunches, David followed Mick. He was really very nervous, well... he still had his best friends, and now he was making new ones, he feels like a traitor.

"Who is he?" Keith asks when he sees his best friend approach a stranger.

"Uh...umm, this is David, right?" the younger boy nods sheepishly. "He's new, and he's my new friend," he says as he invites him to sit down.

"Thank you" says David when he accepts Mick's invitation.

God! He's a gentleman thinks David, because who the hell would let him take his seat.

"How were your classes?" Keith asks Mick, almost ignoring the new guy.

"So-so" Mick says as he shows attention to his lunch. "And yours?" He asks as he puts all his attention on her eyes.

"Totally shit" they both laugh.

"Did you see Marianne?" He asks with some seriousness.

"No man, what happened? I don't know anything about you...

"We fight"

"Wow, what could you have done to him?" He says in a mocking tone.

"I don't..." he trails off. "David, tell me more about yourself." He changes the subject quickly, the younger boy turns around and looks at them. "Do you have friends? Or something like that?"

"I, yes..." he gives a short answer.

"As they are?" pay more interest. "I bet they're not like this fool" he throws food at Keith.

"Bastard" returns the food, and they both laugh.

"Uh... they are" he is left thinking... What are your friends really like? I had never thought about that.
"They are, well, friends, they have always been there when I need them and like this." he just says more.

"I bet they must miss you a lot," Mick replies.

"Well, I think so, they send letters... and that"

"Where are you from?" Keith asks this time.

"Brixton" Their conversation stopped with the arrival of a blonde who came up behind him and hugged Keith.

"Oh, hello," Keith says a little silly as he kisses Anita.

"Oh my God, go to the bathroom or something," Mick says, laughing.

"Oh shut up Jagger, if Marianne were here, everything would be the other way around." The three laugh.

"Oh, David, this is Anita, Anita this is David, it's new."

"Hello" The blonde says with a big smile.

"Hello"

"It really surprises me," says Anita as she sits next to Keith.

"How have they made another friend? Stop being jealous.

"What? What do you mean?" they both ask

"Oh don't start" he pauses and looks at David. "These two don't have many friends because they think they're going to abandon each other or something.

"That's not true," Keith defends. "We all know Mick can't leave me." The three burst out laughing, David simply smiles.

They ate between laughter and questions. David's fourth class was mathematics, sadly that day Mick didn't have that class, but as luck would have it, he was going to go with someone he knew, he and Anita kept each other company while they talked, David thinks he likes her, and vice versa. . He must admit that he never thought he would make 'friends' so quickly. At his previous school, it cost him a lot.

...........

After other classes and other acquaintances, it was time to leave, David was walking through the hallways when he ran into Mick.

"Oh, hello David, I thought I wasn't going to see you again, do you have any plans for later?"

"Uh, I was just thinking about coming and going, I don't think my mom would like me making plans on my first day of school."

"A shame, the boys and I were thinking about going home to study, and have a good time," Mick said with a sad tone.

"I'm sorry, but I think if I say something like that to my mother, maybe another day," David said with a sweet smile.

"Yes that's fine". He smiled back. "Marianne? Hey! Wait! David could see a very pretty blonde girl walking through the hallways, wow! It really seems like he didn't want to talk to Mick. "How are you?" Mick asks. "

Fine," he says somewhat sharply.

"Did you change classes? I didn't see you in theater." He says something confusing.

"Look, I know you're confused, but... we can still be really good friends, okay?" He said without further ado, gave him a smile and headed for the exit.

"Umm, David, I don't want to sound crazy, but can I come with you?"

"Uh, sure," he pauses briefly. "Is she your girlfriend or something?"

"I guess not anymore" he says and they both head outside. When they were both outside, they walked for a while, talking about banal things, until Mick remembered something.

"Oh God"

"What's going on?"

"My brother"

"Your brother?"

"Yes, God, I think I should go back umm, what a terrible brother I am"

"Don't worry, uhh..."

"Well, I hope to see you tomorrow, yes."

"Yes, anyway, good luck with your brother"

"Thank you" they laugh.

"Goodbye" They both say, David starts to walk, but Mick stops him.

"Thank you really, I like you, and it's nice to have another friend" he smiles. Before David says anything to him, Mick kisses him on the cheek. "See you tomorrow" David watches as he returns, and damn! You can assure that he is like a tomato again.

Chapter 3: Jealous

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It's been three weeks since Mick met David, and it's been three weeks that Keith is feeling jealous. Maybe Anita was right, they can't have other friends, that's not how it works, it's always been the two of them, no one else. It's kind of frustrating, now the only thing Mick does is be with David, and when that's not the case, he talks about him. Keith can swear this is the first time he's ever wanted to punch him in the face.

But, it's also been three weeks that David feels stupidly in love, this had already happened to him twice, it was strange, but nice while it lasted, a pretty girl who changed him for another and a nice boy who didn't feel the same way about him, and that he even betrayed, well, that's why he is here, there they were a shame, here, well, nobody knows. That's right, David is not homosexual, but... he is not heterosexual either, well, he loves Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, I think that says it all.

And it's been three weeks that Mick is once again feeling 'inappropriate' desires with the boy he just met, he can't help it, it's like someone was making him like a puppet, I wish none of this was wrong~ he says to himself every time that guy thought passes through your mind.

And of course, during those three weeks Anita noticed that something was wrong, and of course, Marianne and Anita never kept secrets.

"I think I deserve to know what's going on in your relationship," Anita began. "I asked Mick and he wouldn't say, 'God!, not even Keith knows.'

"Well... I don't think he should know." Marianne was thoughtful, and then sighed, "Ahh! Where do I start?"
She fell silent, sat down and looked at her friend's face.

"He,...he wants someone else." Anita was surprised. "A-Anyone else?" "Who?!"

"Well," he lets out a chuckle, "it's not something very normal, well it's normal but I never thought it would happen to me, you know?"

"What the hell are you talking about?!" She seemed confused and at the same time scared.

"We're together, you know, and he said a name not of... a woman," he finished.

"Oh, oh, wow! I really didn't expect that." "

Lose" They both sighed and remained silent.

"I know it?"

"Who? "To the boy I mentioned"

"Ah, pretty good."

She fell silent again, Anita thought that she had never seen her friend like this, she felt a little bad for her, and even more so for thinking about her secret. It was a very cursed group, everyone had deceived themselves in different ways, but Anita believes that what they have done is worse.

Before the holidays she and Mick had a school project, when they were at the latter's house there was a hot moment and they kissed, of course, Mick started to feel guilty because she is his best friend's girlfriend, and for the second it is his girlfriend's best friend, it was wrong but they finished what they started, they agreed not to do it again, to forget it and not to say anything, but it took about three more times before they finally called it quits. Thinking about how strange Marianne was behaving made her nervous, she didn't want to lose a good friend like Marianne to some idiotic boy. Anita! If only you knew. The silence ended when Marianne finally revealed the boy's name.

"Keef" he said without further ado, he let go of a great weight, it was noticeable, poor thing.
Anita was surprised but not too surprised, that is! When they came into the duo's life, they knew that Mick is a little bisexual, and they saw that he was in love with Keith from afar, he liked to bother them with that, well, when it was a joke.

"Wow! M, I don't know what to say, uhmm, sorry?" She said a little confused, she didn't know what to say right now, something similar has never happened to her with Keith. "I thought... well, Mick really loved you."

"Ummm" he began to hesitate. "Maybe at first, but I think the only relationship that really matters to him is him, and I think that you, of course, are a good friend to him, he values you a lot." They both sighed again, and Anita recommended that they go out shopping for clothes and smoke some weed afterwards, she was trying to be a good friend.

While the duo, well, they were not having the same time as the girls since Mick had decided to stop being a duo and become a trio, Keith was not happy with this at all. Now you understand what Mick felt with Brian and Gram, Keith begins to believe in Karma. They had gone to Mick's house, they were playing with Keef's guitar and Mick's harmonica, while David was reading a book. Keith always thought this was something intimate, just Keith and Mick, Mick and Keith, but now it was them and an intruder. He tried to do it for Mick, but his anger was evident, because when David got up to go to the bathroom, he got a dirty look from Mick.

"What?" the big-eared boy asked.

"I look at you"

"AND?" Keith tried to be nonchalant.

"Why don't you like him? He's very similar to both of us, we share similar ideas" He said.

Uhh" Keith tried not to pay so much attention. "It's just... it's hard, you know? I feel like I'm losing my best friend." Mick's eyes looked sad, he approached slightly and grabbed her hand to squeeze it.

"Oh, Keef, there's nothing to worry about, you said it yourself the other time. I'll always be your best friend" she gave him a warm smile.
"Thank you" They both smiled, and tried to forget that 'little misunderstanding'.
When David arrived he seemed just as nervous and uncomfortable, so Mick gave Keith a polite look. "Hey, David!" Keith said, the named one turned around immediately.

"Do you play any instrument?"

"Uhh, yeah" he said without further ado.

"Really?! Which one?" Mick asked, very excited, so much so that Keith looked at him strangely out of the corner of his eye but Mick couldn't care less.

"Ah, the saxophone, and a little bit of the guitar, I'm not very good" he said somewhat proudly when I mentioned the saxophone.

"Wow! Do you sing?" Mick asked again.

"I think everyone," he said with a smile, knew what Mick was referring to, "no, no, I don't consider myself a great singer."

"Oh don't say that, Keef also said the same thing and I had to convince him, he sings incredible, I'm sure you do too, you have a nice voice." He finished saying, returning his attention to his harmonica.

"Thank you?" He just giggled, still surprised and confused by how daring the boy had been.

"Oh, you're welcome" I try not to show so much interest even with a smile.
And this was what Keith was referring to, they put it aside, he just sighs and continued playing with his guitar, trying to ignore the other guys who seemed like a cloying idiot, and in that moment he seemed to understand something that it seems he wanted to ignore. He remembers the times Mick was possessive of him when other boys showed up and showed attention to him, at first he thought it was because he couldn't stand not being the center of attention, but now it's starting to fit. Oh! Wasn't Mick's jealousy because of their friendship?

He was sure that the others were still laughing and joking, but he was in shock, or something like that, he was realizing that his best friend, who he considered like a brother, was possibly in love with him, and not that it bothered him, but now he was He felt bad, because if it was what he thought then he would never reciprocate, and he didn't want to hurt Mick, he would never have loved him, he loves him. While all his thoughts were stirring he could hear his name and laughter in the distance, then he returned to Earth.

"Hey Keith, are you okay? You were playing and then you left" Mick said, laughing.

"Oh yes I'm sorry haha I was just thinking" he tried to look normal.

"Okay, what were you thinking?"

Shit...

"Uhh..." He kept thinking until something occurred to him, which was too good, really good. "That I would like to start a blues band." he said smiling.

"Ah, really?" Mick asked smiling and he just nodded. "of covers, or of us"

"About covers of course, you're not that good at inventing" I try to lighten the moment with jokes.

"Ha-Ha, that's funny," he said sarcastically.

They spent a little more fun, and he could notice how Mick's attention towards David was almost the same as with a new pretty girl he met, or with himself, and how David blushed too much at Mick's compliments.
David said he had to go back to his house, Keith said goodbye to him as if he were anyone, but Mick offered to accompany him to the entrance, it took a while before Mick returned to his room.

"Hey" he entered with a slight goofy smile and closed the door, he was about to sit on the floor, but Keith's voice interrupted him.

"It's time to confess, Mick," he said something seriously, leaving his guitar aside to finally allow his gaze to look at his friend.

"W-What are you talking about?" He started to stutter and his eyes looked sad.

"Just admit it!" I blurt out, like I'm tired of lies "What thing?" he played dumb. "Say I'm crazy, and what I saw is not true"

"What did you see?" He said somewhat impatiently.

"Tell me, look me in the eyes and tell me you're not in love with your new friend David," she sighed. Mick froze, his eyes fixed on Keith, they began to blur and turn slightly red, he wanted to leave his own room, but where would he go? He has no more friends.
He just looked away from Keith and started walking around the room.

Chapter Text

Mick kept walking in circles around his room. Mick wasn't listening to anything but his own thoughts, he couldn't believe this was happening to him again, he was being careful, he didn't want to lose this friendship, did he? should i lie? Tell him that you're not in love with that boy? This was too difficult

Keith got up and tried to calm him down, hugged him, but that seems to destroy the poor boy. I started saying nice things to him, like; Trust me, I am your best friend, I will always love you, everything is fine.

"I don't deserve you Keef" she said between sobs.

"No, don't say that," I try to reassure him.

"What would you do..." he stopped, looked up and tried to breathe deeply and stay calm. "What would you do if I said yes?"

"I would tell you that I already know, and that I just want you to tell me, in your own words" They remained silent before Mick spoke again.

"Well, I think I'm wrong, because I'm in love with a boy," his voice broke and he covered his red, tear-filled face with his hands.

"You're not bad, that's how you were born"

"I did something very bad," he said, still with his face in his hands and shaking his head.

"No"

"You don't even know what it is," Mick said, totally embarrassed.

"I believe i know it".

"No, you don't know" "what would you do if I told you that I dreamed about you several times?" He said timidly and very embarrassed.

"I'd say, 'Wow, I'm honored,'" they both laughed. "And that I feel bad, because I don't feel or felt the same as you" he corrected his words and looked sadly at his friend. "

It's okay, alone and when I continue to have you by my side" I hug him again. "Forever, you're my fucking soulmate," they laughed, and hugged Mick tighter.

"Is that why everything ended with Marianne? Did you realize that it's not what you wanted?" he asked delicately.

"No, not me, I like her, I like her a lot, that's it, that's it! that's what I mean! I like her but I don't love her, and he... he does."

"Well, do you think he feels the same way about you?"

"No! Of course not, he is very different from me in that sense"

"Pff, I see them the same" he let out a sigh and Mick looked at him with a frown "You should make a move, if he gets nervous there he is, if not, forget it"

Mick smiled, it felt good to get it out, of course not all of it but most of them, they agreed not to tell anyone about this, not even Anita.

....

David arrived home a little later than he had agreed, although it's not like he would mind, he closed the front door, leaned against it, sighed and continued smiling like a fool at his memories that had happened a while ago, that cute boy with brown curls and blue eyes had kissed her cheek again! I couldn't believe it, is that his way of being? Greet and say goodbye to everyone with a kiss on the cheek? His thoughts stopped when he heard his brother's cough to emphasize his presence.

"Are you OK?" Terry asks as he stands with his arms crossed and looks at his brother.

"Uhh, yeah, yeah... where's mom?" he asks trying to distract him.

"You're lucky he's still in the market, he'll be back soon"

"Oh, sure" he tried to ignore it and started walking.

"How did it go? You seem in love."

Terry knew what was happening and was honestly happy that that emotion would happen to his brother, something like teenage love is very tender, although he also didn't really like the idea of it not being reciprocated.

"Ummm, he, it went well, it's just that ahh, he kissed my cheek in goodbye.

"Again?" That was it, maybe he should no longer be afraid that something bad like not being reciprocated would happen to David. "You know what, that boy likes you.

"What? No, no! Don't give me false hope, he likes girls."

"And you"

"No, it's not like you think, he has some kind of girlfriend, I don't"

"David, it's the 60's," he said almost obviously with a light sigh. "All queer people have partners of the other sex so that society doesn't eat them."

"Okay, maybe you're right," he said and went upstairs.

Already being in his room, the only thing he thought about was what Terry said, and if it was like that? He couldn't believe that boy could like a boy like him.

David had never felt attractive, although many people wanted to let him know otherwise.

That made him smile because if that cute boy liked him, that meant he was cute, kind of dumb, he should know he's cute but still, he was looking forward to seeing Mick.

Summary:

'Mike, are you okay?' asked. Seeing your friend drunk
Mick made an affirmative noise and looked at the boy he was lying with.

'Of course,' he replied with a silly smile.

'What are you thinking about?' she asked him as he gathered a strand of hair and put it behind her ear.

'We' he said without further ado, looking at him stupidly.

'Us?' I asked in disbelief

'Mmm' made an affirmative noise.

Chapter Text

After a month of friendship with Michael, David realized that this boy was the 'STAR BOY' he had; a group of friends, (friends for everything), loving parents, a brother who loved him, and (previously a beautiful girlfriend) without forgetting that he is a great athlete, he is intelligent, funny, cute and a good dancer. David did not understand why Michael considered him a friend, he believes that he did not contribute anything new (or good) to his group of friends. He was beginning to feel bad for them, although he preferred to ignore it since he loved spending every second with Mick. And of course! He realized that this "foolish youthful love" does not leave him so easily. During his month-long stay, he made other friends besides Mick and his close friends, such as Farrokh Bulsara, who liked to be called Freddie, and Reginald Dwight, who liked to be nicknamed Elton. It was fun to talk to them, he barely knew them, but he felt close, almost as if he were at home with his friends, who, by the way, still sent letters to each other and talked on the phone from time to time. For his part, Mick was confused, he was very happy that his best friend accepted him as he is, and of course he appreciates it but he doesn't think he understands it, he's a straight boy! He has never fallen in love with a boy. But I try not to let that affect him too much, because lately he no longer cared about understanding what he felt, he was getting carried away and was debating whether to tell David what he felt, or keep it to himself. She wasn't worried that David would hit her or something, of course not, he seemed very open-minded, but she was worried that he didn't feel the same, the fact that he was quite straight and nice crossed her mind several times, and on the other hand, the fact that if I was gay he wouldn't love me that way, that was more frustrating. Although now he felt jealous and didn't know who since David was apparently making new friends. That's also another frustrating thing for Mick's poor loving mind! !

Those kids had a reputation for being weird, which was fine with Mick, but now that they were talking to David and spending a lot of time with him, let's just say it bothered him. He was planning a party, but he didn't want David to invite his new friends; He knew he would look bad, but he just wanted to spend some time alone with David. ___

'Hey, David, are you in?' Anita asked, sitting next to David. 'To what?' I asked, somewhat bewildered. 'Mick is having a party this Friday night.' 'Oh, sure!' David tried not to make his emotion visible. 'I mean, he's fine, totally fine.' 'Good,' she smiled pleased. After a while, the doorbell rang and Anita spoke again. 'Have you met anyone yet?' 'Anyone?' I asked, very confused. 'Yeah! Someone,' Anita said, emphasizing the 'someone', but David apparently still didn't understand. 'A suitor! A girl!' She concluded somewhat amused. 'Oh! Yes, no, I don't believe it yet. There are a lot of pretty girls but I don't think there are any that have that something, you understand? 'Yes of course'. 'I'm not trying to pressure you or anything, it's just that it would be nice to date another partner,' she said. Dave nodded. He realized that he still doesn't know what happened to Mick and Marianne even though he is in the circle, he didn't want to be nosy but he was curious. Maybe later he would ask her. 'Do you know someone?' He tried to change the subject slightly since he was starting to feel heavy. 'Many' She smiled. 'What is your type?' I ask with interest. 'My kind?' She nodded. 'My kind?' He whispered, thinking about his ideal type. My kind; Same height as me, long brown hair, thick lips... 'Weird,' she finally said before making a mistake. 'Weird?!' I ask something funny 'Yes, let them be unique and eccentric, you know' 'Uhm, sure' 'Oh, I don't know, I find black women so much more attractive.' 'Big, eccentric, crazy women, noted,' she said humorously. They both laughed lightly.

___

'¡Will you tell him?!' Keith asked, somewhat excited. 'Yes, I have to, this is killing me!' he said while they were in the lunch line 'What do you think I should wear?' 'Fuck, I don't know, man. Whatever you want?' He said what almost sounded like a question still taken aback by his friend's outburst. On the other hand, Mick gave him a dirty look. 'Thanks for the help' 'It's okay, I'm sorry, I just think it's too soon. 'Soon? Soon for what?' 'For this! ' They both left the row and sat down. 'It wasn't quick with Marianne,' he emphasized. 'Hey, that was different, we knew they felt the same way about each other, so...' '¡OK!' He said, somewhat annoyed, 'Tell Anita to tell David there will be a party.' 'Why don't you tell him yourself?' 'I have to do something' he said taking the food from him.

They were about to leave. Fred approached David that he had heard that there was going to be a party this Friday and that, as always, neither he nor Reginald had been invited. At that, David felt a little bad and Freddie, seeing that David still hadn't said anything, asked him. David told him that he was thinking about going as Mick had been very nice to him, but now he was a bit angry and didn't know if he wanted to go to that party, plus he was never good at parties. After a while walking together in a somewhat awkward silence, Freddie asked him again.

'Are you going to that party?' Freddie asked.

'Mmm I don't know'

-They invited you, right?

—Yes, yes they did, it's just that... You won't go and... — he let out with a sigh

.

'Hey, hey,' he said calmly, 'we're used to that, and besides... We're going to go see a movie, we like that, it's a lot of fun,' he finished with a smile.

p>

"I'd rather stay," he sounded a little embarrassed.

'Anyway honey, let me know, okay? In case you decide to see the movie, it will be at Regie's house.' With that, he left.

When David got home he took a shower, then got dressed and lay down in bed, he was exhausted! Then he remembered the theme of that party again, of course he was angry at the fact that the kids he considers good schoolmates wouldn't be there but, on the other hand, he wanted to be at that party since Mike is the host and they would pass. time together, David would settle for spending 5 minutes of small talk with that boy. A few minutes later he started going through his closet, he has never liked any of his clothes, they weren't very 'elegant' but they made him feel like a snobbish fool, he realized that he wanted to be like Mick, he dresses well but he is different stuff. Liberal, a little more disheveled, wilder!
And without realizing it he was dialing Freddie's house number.

Friday, holiday:

Mick was very excited and scared, there was still no news from David, of course he didn't expect him to show up first but he was anxious, he was afraid that he wouldn't show up or that he would show up quite late and all his bravery would disappear. He had had enough, practicing all week in front of the mirror and these last few days he practiced with Keith which was horrible. But he still thinks he's ready, well so far it's been four hours since the party started to really be a party and he still hadn't seen David anywhere, lately he hadn't seen him anymore, that didn't help with his anxiety either.
“Fuck it, I’m going to have a drink!” it was said.

—Have you seen David? Mick asked Keith, already a little drunk.
At least another two or three hours had passed in which Mick spent half drinking, half staring at the door, his anxiety had increased as had his thirst.

"No, I haven't seen it," he said, beginning to notice the bad state his best friend was in. Hey, okay, buddy?

'I... Yes, very well, I... I'm going to-' Mick pointed to the sofa.

-Yes, good idea, don't fall asleep.

Mick just nodded and went to sit down, in the short time he was there it felt like an eternity, the hands of the clock were moving slowly, the slow music was playing slower and the people were moving slowly

>

David arrived at the Jagger house, he looked very calm for a party on a Friday night with only teenagers, David thought, he didn't know if what he was doing was right or wrong, but since he had told the kids it was. , it was clear that they were going to want to know how the party had gone, and since he is a terrible liar, he did not want to be asked why, so with a little apprehension he approached the entrance, swallowed air, exhaled and touched the door, no one answered the door, obviously it was too late and the music had ended, only Muddy Watters seemed. He opened the door and found groups of school children dancing and drinking. He walked around to see if he saw any of his acquaintances and so far he hadn't seen any and then to his surprise or (maybe not so much) he found Keith and Anita on the small couch next to the stairs eating each other's mouths, of course. I didn't want to interrupt but I'm here for Mick.

'Oh hello guys' They separated quickly and had a certain blush on their cheeks.

'Hello David,' Anita said as she fixed her hair a little.

'Hello'

'Ummm, what a nice party' David pointed out 'Oh, where's Micke?'

“Oh, uh, on the couch by the window,” Keith pointed out.

'Oh, I didn't see it'

'Oh yeah, he must have fallen asleep, I was waiting for you'

-Sure, I'll go...

—Of course —said Anita with her big smile.
David smiled back and walked in reverse until she turned around and disappeared from her sight. Anita, you were too polite to tell him to go away and let them get on with what they were doing.

David walked towards where Keith told him and there he saw him, half awake half asleep, as cute as always but he looked tired and a little sad. It pained David to realize, he didn't want it to be his fault. He realized that for Mick it was a very important friendship. He sat next to him, sinking them a little, it took Mick a moment to realize his presence.

'Hey, you!' Mick said with a pretty rock laugh and a small smile 'Yes, you came'

—Of course! Because? —Did you think not? —David frowned a little.
Well, to be fair, he wouldn't have believed it either.

'Hmm, I don't know' he shrugged.

'Are you drunk?' he smiled slightly. Ahira Mick seemed amused.

'No' he laughed.

They talked about some things but Mick suddenly became silent or said some incoherent things.

-Mike, are you okay? -he asked. He saw his drunk friend. Mick made an affirmative noise and looked at the boy he was sleeping with.

"Of course," he replied with a goofy smile p>

—What are you thinking about? —She asked him as he gathered a lock of hair and put it behind his ear.

"We," he said simply, looking at him stupidly.

'Us?' I ask in disbelief

'Mmm' made an affirmative sound.

'What's wrong with us?'

'Mmm, I don't know what you want' Mick was rambling.

David laughed. 'Sorry Mike, I can't understand you...'

"Shhh," Mick said and started to get up. Come on! —He took David's hand and pulled him along.

They were heading to Mick's room.

—What are you doing? David asked with a nervous laugh as they entered the room.

"I want to go to bed," he said as he lay down on the bed p>.

—Well... And what am I doing here? —He was standing, uncomfortable, next to the bed. Mick made a gesture inviting him to lie down next to him.

David accepted, perhaps if he had been in his right mind he would not have accepted.

«David, can I ask you a question?»

- You're already doing it! -He stated amused.

-No, I...- river -another-

"Okay," he turned around. They both stared at each other.

'This thing about accepting homosexual people is, why? I mean... Are you? It took David a while to respond, he was in shock 'Don't worry if you are...'

"I am," he interrupted Mick. They were in a silence that, curiously, was not uncomfortable. Until Mick spoke again.

'So, have you been with a guy before?'

'N-No, no, I was just with a girl,' he said. Mick looked a little confused. 'I like them, but so do they'

'Oh'

'Yes'

'Do you like any boy here? I mean, a lot of people talk about your friends, I just wonder.

'No, they don't...' Silly David. He said to himself. There's no way he could have said it.

—Huh? And then who? —Mick seemed excited, amused and curious.

'No, no one' tried to act like he never said what he said p>

'Tell me' Mick moved to get a better look.

-No –he smiled amused. They both looked at each other stupidly with silly smiles, there was no more noise, they seemed alone.

'David, I confess something to you, and you... Tell me who you like'

'Mmm no, I don't know'

'Oh, come on' Mick pouted, kind of fake.

"Ah, good," he smiled. Mick laughed satisfied. At the same time, okay?

—Okay—he laughed a little, but he seemed a little nervous and worried.

'On one's behalf...
Two Three!..'

"I like you". That was the only thing that resonated in David's mind. He was paralyzed and in shock, and many other emotions were running high. What the hell had happened? David snapped out of his trance when he felt Mick hug him. Oh shit, did he say that too?

"I didn't think it would happen like this at all," Mick said. He sounded happy but his voice sounded tearful.

'Oh'

When Mick counted to three, it took them a while to respond, they just looked at each other with silly smiles because of his childish games, but when they looked him directly in the eyes, he realized that he had to tell them even if he lost his mind. friendship of him. And at the moment David said; 'It's you' and then he closed his eyes he could say it too, it seemed a little pathetic to him because upon hearing what David had to say he started to cry with joy, everything he had basically saved for nothing, the two of them loved each other!

'I... I know it will sound a little... Silly! But since I met you I really liked you!' he finished saying. Still very, very drunk.

"You too," he said, somewhat embarrassed. Mick smiled.

'Let's spend the night together'

'W-What?'

"My parents are away this weekend and Chris is at a sleepover, it's okay," he said as he lay down on David's lap. "I mean, just... Only if you want."

"I'll stay," he smiled, they both did. 'Good night Mike'

'Good night David'

Tomorrow would be a very, very strange day!

!

Notes:

In fact, I did some research and found out that David always called Mick 'Mike', something really cute.

Chapter 6: Ray of sun

Chapter Text

When David woke up, the first thing he noticed was that he wasn't in his bed, which startled him a bit. But as soon as he moved, he could feel a body pressing against his, and he quickly remembered the party from the night before at Mick's house. He recalled how Mick had accompanied him to his room, they shared their secrets, and that he had fallen asleep deeply, hugging Mick.

David had never been a person who slept 'peacefully', so he wasn't surprised when he realized he was a little lower down. He turned slowly and saw Mick. Mick was deeply asleep, with his lips slightly parted, hair tousled across his face, letting out small sounds of rest. Tenderly, David moved his hand to brush some strands away from Mick's face, admiring how peacefully he slept. He spent a while just watching him, unable to believe what had happened the night before. It was simply unreal; David couldn't believe that someone like Michael could feel what he felt for someone like him. Of course, he hadn't said he loved him or anything like that, but David had never felt handsome, and Mick was... a Greek god to him.

“Mmm, good morning.” Mick began to wake up and made a sound of satisfaction as he stretched and saw David watching him. “It’s rude to stare at people without their consent,” he smiled. David was starting to love the look of Mick in his sleepy state.

“Good morning,” he returned the smile. “Today is a beautiful day.”

“Yes, I see that,” Mick said, but without taking his eyes off David. He was still in his bubble. Who could blame him? He was a teenage boy in love.

“I think... I should go,” he said, sitting up a bit and looking for his things.

“What? So soon?” Mick looked sad and discouraged. “Don’t you want to have breakfast first?” He also sat up, leaning his back against the headboard.

“I would like to, but... are you okay?” David noticed that Mick seemed a bit uncomfortable. He didn’t want Mick to feel bad because of him.

“Yes, I think it’s just the drinks from last night,” he faked a smile. Still, it looked sincere and kind.

“I’ll stay,” David smiled. Mick lay down on David, making them both lie back on the bed.

They spent some time together, with Mick's head on David's chest.

“We should get up,” Mick said, looking tired.

“Yes,” David sighed. Mick lifted his head to look at David better while they talked. “What do we do?” David brushed the hair from Mick's forehead to see him better and cradled his cheek in his hand.

“Not much, there’s oatmeal from yesterday; we just need to heat it up,” he smiled.

“Okay.”

“David?” Mick asked somewhat nervously. They were in the kitchen, having just finished breakfast. Now Mick was finishing washing the last dish while David dried them. Now that he was a bit more lucid after hydrating, he had many questions; they liked each other! That was clear, but... what were they? Were they still friends? Or maybe David wanted something more? Perhaps Mick wanted something more. He needed to clear his doubts.

“Hmm?” David paid attention, looking at him closely after putting away the last dish.

“I, I wanted to know, what will we do?” he said nervously while looking at his hands with his head down.

“What will we do?” David couldn’t help sounding a bit nervous and confused. He didn’t know what would follow after last night when they confessed their feelings.

“Yes,” Mick replied, looking at David’s face.

“I... I don’t know.” They fell silent for a minute. “What do you want us to do?”

“Hmmm... I don’t know, it’s all strange. I mean... we like each other; that’s not what friends do, right?”

“I don’t think so,” Mick couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh.

“What will we do from here? What are we now? How can we pretend to your family and everyone else?” Mick continued.

David fell silent, feeling the weight of Mick's words. The atmosphere in the kitchen became dense, as if the air itself were waiting for a response. “It’s complicated,” David finally said, breaking the silence. “In this time, it’s not easy to be... different. People don’t understand.”

Mick nodded, his eyes filled with seriousness. “I know. My parents have very clear ideas about how I should live my life. I don’t know how they would react if they found out...”

“We could keep it a secret,” David suggested, though his voice sounded less sure than he hoped.

“A secret?” Mick frowned, as if the idea left a bitter taste. “Does that mean what we feel isn’t real? Just something we hide from others?”

David felt a knot in his stomach. “No, it’s not that. It’s just that... I don’t want you to feel trapped. I don’t want this to ruin our friendship.”

Mick moved a little closer, his eyes searching David’s. “What if it’s not just friendship? What if this is something more? What if we want to be more than friends?”

David felt a shiver run down his spine. “I would love that, but... how? Society doesn’t accept it. At school, on the street, everywhere...”

“We can be ourselves, even if it’s in private,” Mick said, his voice full of determination. “Maybe we can’t be open, but at least we can be honest with each other.”

David smiled weakly. “You’re right. What I feel for you is real, and I don’t want to lose it. But how do we do this without anyone knowing?” Mick laughed softly, the tension easing a bit.

“We could be friends who care for each other. No one has to know everything. We can keep seeing each other, go out together, but in secret.”

“I like that,” David replied, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. “We can create our own world, even if it’s small.”

“Yes,” Mick said, his smile lighting up the kitchen. “A world just for us.”

They looked at each other, feeling a connection stronger than ever. In that moment, fear and uncertainty faded a bit, making way for hope.

“So, what do we do now?” David asked, feeling excitement bubbling inside him.

“How about we go for a walk in the park? Just you and me,” Mick suggested, his voice full of enthusiasm.

“That sounds perfect,” David replied, feeling the day brighten again. “Let’s enjoy this moment.”

As they prepared to go out, David couldn’t help but think about what all this meant. Maybe they couldn’t be open to the world, but at least they had their little corner of happiness. And that, at that moment, was enough.

Chapter 7: Beneath the Same Sun

Chapter Text

The park was nearly empty at that hour. Leaves crunched beneath their steps, and the morning sun filtered through the trees, casting soft shadows along the path. David and Mick walked close to each other, not touching, but each step was filled with a sweet tension, as if their bodies were speaking in secret.

“Did you ever think this could happen?” Mick asked, breaking the silence.

David took a moment to respond.

“No... Not really. I guess I dreamed about it. But they were just dreams.”

Mick glanced at him with a barely-contained smile.

“Well, I’ve liked you ever since I saw you humming Love Me Do with that goofy focused face.”

David laughed, blushing.

“That song’s not even that good.”

“But you are,” Mick replied without hesitation.

David’s heart picked up speed. He wanted to reach for Mick’s hand, but just then, an elderly lady walked past them. He shifted slightly to the side, as if the impulse had been a mistake.

Mick lowered his gaze, lips pressed together, pretending to watch a squirrel climbing a tree.

“Do you think this is a mistake?” he asked suddenly.

“No,” David replied at once, though his voice trembled. “What I feel can’t be a mistake. But... it is scary.”

They walked a few more steps in silence until they reached a bench tucked away from view. They sat down. The air smelled of damp earth, and the distant hum of the city felt far away.

“Have you ever talked to anyone about this?” Mick asked.

David shook his head.

“I hadn’t even said it out loud until last night. I always kept it inside. At school... at home... I was scared. What about you?”

Mick hesitated.

“Once. I told my cousin Patrick when I was thirteen. He said it was a phase. Then he stopped talking to me for months. After that, he just acted like it never happened.”

David felt a lump rise in his throat. He placed his hand on the bench, letting it brush Mick’s without actually holding it.

“What if we mess it up? What if we stop talking too?”

“I don’t want to lose you,” Mick said quietly. “But I also don’t want to pretend I don’t feel what I feel.”

Just then, a couple their age walked by—a boy and a girl, holding hands, laughing. Neither David nor Mick said anything, but both looked at them with a mix of longing and quiet envy.

“Can you imagine being like that?” David murmured. “Walking down the street, holding hands, not hiding anything.”

“One day,” Mick said. “I don’t know when, but someday.”

David turned to him. The sun reflected in Mick’s eyes, lighting up his face like a promise.

“Until then... we could write to each other. Letters. Like in the movies. Use fake names, keep them in my drawer. No one will find them.”

Mick smiled, amused.

“Love letters with pseudonyms? What will you be—‘The Moonlit Knight’?”

“And you’ll be ‘The Poet from the South.’ How’s that?”

“Too dramatic. But I like it,” Mick laughed.

They stayed there a while longer, sitting beneath the same sun, building a small world where they were free—if only for a moment.

Chapter 8: Whispers and Cigarettes

Chapter Text

The late afternoon sun barely peeked through the clouds when Mick slipped out the back door of the gym. The concrete beneath his shoes was still warm, and the air carried the familiar mix of sweat, dust, and freshly cut grass. He rounded the corner of the building, heading toward the old graffitied wall where he and Keith had hidden away since they were kids. And there he was—leaning against the brick, lighting a cigarette like the world couldn’t touch him.

“You’re late,” Keith said without looking at him.

“Your watch is always fast,” Mick replied, dropping down beside him.

Keith let out a slow puff of smoke, eyes tracking the gray sky above. They stayed silent for a moment. The sounds of the school faded behind them—distant footsteps, a bouncing ball, the occasional burst of laughter.

“So?” Keith finally said. “You’ve been weird lately.”

Mick glanced sideways.
“Weird how?”

“Quiet. Distant. Like you’ve got some massive secret stuffed in your jacket pocket.”

Mick swallowed hard. He knew he couldn’t hide it much longer. Not from Keith. Not from someone who had known him since they were ten and swapped superhero comics under the bleachers.

“I do,” Mick admitted at last, lowering his voice. “A secret.”

Keith turned to look at him then, and for once, there was no joke in his expression. No mocking grin, no easy tease.

“It’s David, isn’t it?”

The name hung in the air like a sour note. Mick blinked, surprised to hear it spoken so plainly. He hadn’t said it. Not like that.

“What makes you think that?”

“I’ve seen how you look at him. In the library. In the hallway. In history class. That’s not how a friend looks, Mick.”

Mick didn’t know what to say. He didn’t even try to deny it.

Keith flicked ash to the ground and crushed it under his shoe.

“Are you… with him?”

“No... Not exactly. Not yet. But… we like each other.”

Keith nodded but didn’t say anything right away. Mick watched him, bracing for the reaction that had haunted him for days: the disgust, the rejection, the cruel laughter. But it never came.

“Mick… I’m not your dad or one of those jackasses from the football team. I don’t care if you like David, or the guy who sells popcorn at the movie theater. But this isn’t a game. If someone else figures it out…”

“Would you tell anyone?”

Keith looked at him with something like warning—but not anger.

“No. I’m not a rat. But you need to be careful. You know how this town is. How this time is. They won’t understand. They won’t even try.”

The silence settled between them again—thicker this time, heavier.

Mick sighed.

“I don’t want to hide forever, Keith.”

“I know,” Keith said, flicking the cigarette away and stomping it out. “But if you don’t play it smart, you could lose everything.”

He walked off before Mick could answer. Left him there, alone with the tight ache in his chest, feeling like even his oldest friendship was beginning to bend under the weight of what he felt.

And yet, he didn’t regret it. Because every time David smiled at him, it was all worth it.
