Chapter 1: Everyone is dumb
Chapter Text
Chloé's POV
Everyone is dumb. I always thought of that but today they proved me right.
Another akuma attack disrupts Ms Bustier's class yet again. Boring! It's always a seemingly normal day and then an akuma flies in, we evacuate, Ladybug saves the day; rinse and repeat.
Nearly half the class was stuck in the classroom while the other half managed to escape. Unfortunately I was one of those trapped as hostages. Sabrina managed to get out so I'm alone here in terms of allies.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir! Give me your miraculous and I'll release your friends!" The akumatised villain whose name I refuse to remember said.
"Release us and keep Chloè! She's actually evil!" Kubdel shouted. I just scowled, not wanting to waste my energy on anything insignificant.
"We'll never surrender to you or Hawkmoth!" Ladybug heroically declared as she used her yoyo to wrap around the villain's hand, pulling it over.
I played with my phone minding my own business in my seat. I know that in the end everything would return to normal so I don't bother to participate in the fight going on. That dumbo Kim was still trying to break the door. It's clearly reinforced with stupid magic so why waste his stupid energy on it. Oh right. He's stupid.
Chat Noir used Cataclysm on the villain's barrier on an attempt to free us but brought more damage. The walls and ceiling cracked, but most stayed intact. Of course the only small part of the ceiling that actually crumbled was one right above me. I didn't have time to react, ducking and accepting my fate.
Someone grabbed my hand, pulled me forcefully to their side and wrapped their arms around me. Strong, sturdy arms pressing me against their chest. And—Are those abs? Anyway, I was met with another superhero, Ladybug needed extra help I guess. He was wearing a teal coloured costume and the tips of his hair dyed teal.
"Be careful next time," he said. He released his hold of me and jumped right into the fight. I have to admit he's cute, not just because he saved me.
After I heard the words "Miraculous Ladybug!" I looked up and saw everything return to normal. See? I'm right again. The teal hero—Vilerion I think—said something inaudible and left. Bet he was about to de-transform.
The other three-Ladybug, Chat Noir, and the now de-akumatized civilian- landed pretty close to me, so I just listened to their conversation. Everyone else was just too busy being happy not trapped in a classroom. Maybe they didn't notice me because of how quiet I was.
"Are you okay?" Ladybug asked the nerd on the ground, offering him a hand.
"Y-yes. Thank you Ladybug and Chat Noir. A-and I'm sorry I caused a mess," the nerd looked like he was about to cry.
"It's not your fault. Hawkmoth used your feelings to his advantage," Chat Noir put a hand on his shoulder.
"If, if I controlled my emotions, maybe this won't happen. Nobody would like me doing this."
"Chat Noir is right, it's NOT your fault. Everyone has feelings. That doesn't mean you should ignore yours. Remember to practice breathing exercises when you're having a bad mood."
Chat Noir pat the nerd. "You are not alone. There are people who care about you. Find strength in others and you can find strength within yourself. Welp time to go, peace out!" Like that, the two heroes left.
But it's weird. Since when did Chat Noir do all the motivational talk? And why was it familiar?
"Is everyone okay?" Adrien asked as he stepped in class. People crowded him instantly, asking him the same questions. He spotted the nerd from before and approached him. "I heard from my friends that you were akumatised. I hope you feel better now. Remember, you're not alone. Rely on other people once in a while and you can start finding strength to rely on yourself,"
The nerd lit up. He said that Chat Noir and Ladybug said something similar. He's going to apologise and make amends with his friends, he says.
Then it hit me. No wonder it sounded familiar. I said that to Adrien years ago when we were kids. When he was too scared to ask help from his dad about something ridiculous and refused any assistance from Nathalie or me because he thinks his dad would think it's pathetic.
"Come on Adrikins. You can't do it yourself. Rely on other people for once if you can't rely on yourself,"
"I'm scared Chloe,"
"I heard this on TV: if you're scared or in trouble, find help because if you find strength in others then you can find strength in yourself. Now just go ask your dad to help hang that picture up!!"
It was a picture drawing of Gabriel, Adrien, Emilie, Nathalie and Chloé. The spot where Adrien wanted it was too high for anyone except for his father. Chloè was right, it is ridiculous to be scared of it. Gabriel helped right away.
Of course, that was before Aunt Emilie died and Gabriel turned into an emotionless bitch. And also before I....well, became me.
............
Was Adrien Chat Noir?
I contemplated this till late at night for almost a week. I lost sleep because of it too.
It's just a coincidence. Anybody could have seen the same old man talking on TV about a cringy inspirational quote. It was a common one too.
But when Adrien says it, it gives me pride that I told him, not the old man. The fact is that Adrien and Chat Noir gave the same advice to the same person on the same day with less than a 5 minute gap, and it bothers me.
It bothered me enough to notice other things too. I noticed how Adrien and Dupain-Cheng would be the first people to disappear during an akuma attack. I noticed the terrible excuses they'd give us. I noticed the same jewelry they wore every single day.
There was only one explanation for it. Frankly anyone could have figured it out if they paid attention. I don't even want to say it.
The point is, through a chance encounter and sheer luck, I proved that I was right and everyone else is dumb.
Chapter 2: I saw it
Notes:
The second and third chapters are a bit short. Sorry about that.
Chapter Text
Through pure luck—okay maybe with an additional stalking—I finally caught him. For 3 weeks whenever an akuma attacks I'd try to follow Adrien anywhere he went. It was fruitless at first as he is somehow so good at shaking people off his tail. Then I saw him transforming in the locker room. It was brief, but I know it was him. Adri...Chat Noir jumped out the window to go help Ladybug.
Now that I know Chat Noir's identity, what should I do with this information?
Nothing. I'll do nothing with it. I know how much of a sincere person Adrien is. I think....he really cherishes his time as Chat Noir. So I'll be a good friend, and do nothing with this information.
.
.
.
.
....Or so I thought.
I was doing really well in keeping his secret. Not even Adrien himself has caught on. Well, it's not like I've been giving him hints. Honestly he should really be more careful when transforming next time.
And that's where the problem currently lies. Transforming.
Once again, Hawkmoth decides to send an akuma attack in the middle of class. Everyone ran to different directions trying to find somewhere safe. While Adrien tried to slip away he unfortunately was caught by Lahiffe who dragged him while screaming about safety.
I scowled, the sense of responsibility and guilt gnawing in my chest. Seeing Ladybug already at the fight struggling made this feeling stronger. I quickly ran where the two boys were before they got any further and snatched Adrien's hand.
"Sorry loser. Adrikins and I will be hiding some place better than where you're going. Let's go!" I snarled at Lahiffe while pulling Adrien.
"But! Dude!" Lahiffe reached out.
"Leave them! We don't have time!" Cesare urged her boyfriend, tugging at his shirt.
As I try to find an empty room, Adrien was trying to get away.
"W-wait, Chloè! I think it's best of we split up! Because...uh, it'll be harder to catch both of us!" He tried to come up with some ridiculous excuse.
Then I spotted the janitor's closet. Perfect. Making sure the coast is clear, I hurriedly trapped us in it.
"Transform. Go through that window. It should be large enough to fit you," I instructed, leaning on the door.
His face was full of shock. "How...?"
"There's no time!" I hissed, "Ladybug needs you right now. I'll tell later,"
He nodded and immediately did as I told.
The moment he was gone I sunk to the floor. A most likely very filthy floor might I add. Not typical Bourgeois behaviour, I know. However, I was tired. Now I know running away and making petty excuses is pretty tiring.
Then again, nothing I did was typical Bourgeois behaviour. If it was my mother, she would've manipulated Adrien a long time ago.
Suddenly my body jerked forward, causing me to fall on the floor. The door opened and closed fast as lightning. But there's a boy standing there breathing heavily.
"Oh shit," he exclaimed, noticing me rub my forearm. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hurt you," he kneeled down next to me.
"Let me see," he said, taking my hand into his. He turned my hand around checking every visible spot. I took this chance to observe him. He had black hair with blue tips, ear piercings, ripped jeans and a blue hoodie over a Jagged Stone t-shirt. "Hah, No serious injuries thankfully," he sighed, his blue eyes meeting my own.
"Yeah, thankfully. Else you'll be hearing from Daddy." I snatched my hand back. I had a sudden interest on the floor to hide the slight tint on my cheeks. The way he stared at me felt weird. I've had boys stare at me before, or my body specifically. I don't blame them, I put a lot of work exercising and taking specific diets. My mother wouldn't approve otherwise. However the way this blue haired goth was looking at me was different. It was like he skipped past the outside and stared right into my soul.
"You're Chloè, right?" He asked. "I'm Luka. My sister is in the same class as you."
"Let me guess, you haven't heard the best things about me," I snarled. "Yeah I'm that rich brat but at least my fashion sense is better than yours. What are you trying to pull? A blueberry? Anyway, If you're going to complain it's best you leave or better yet, I'll go out myself." I was halfway getting up when he pulled me back down to sit.
"Please don't," he quaked, "uh, I mean, it's crazy out there. It's best we wait for the akuma to settle."
I gave him a questioning look, pondering if he really wanted to spend time in a tiny space with the infamous bully Chloè Bourgeois. "The akuma is going crazy turning everyone into figurines. Kinda why I was in a hurry to hide." He added.
I sat down, eyes never leaving his, challenging this situation. I glared as usual, and he, on the contrary, smiled innocently.
To be honest, it felt...nice. It was nice having someone look me in the eye and not scowl, cry or run away. It was nice to know that pair of eyes staring back at me didn't hold disgust or disappointment.
I tore away breaking the contact.
"It's quite outside. I think it's safe." I stood up, dusting my pants in the process. "Don't follow me immediately. I don't want anybody seeing me with the likes of you." I said with my nose up high. Not like I really meant it. Luka nodded, still on the floor.
My hand grabbed the doorknob, twisting it slightly before heasitantly turning back to say, "See you later, blueberry,"

Chapter Text
Chloé was peacefully getting her beauty sleep when SOMEONE had the gall to wake her up. She ignored their attempts at first. But they were very persistent so she resentfully took off her sleeping mask and sat up.
Chloé came face to face to the culprit, Chat Noir. "What the fuck?" She whispered.
Adrien's transformation dropped after a beeping sound, a faint green glow washing the whole room. He turned on her bedside lamp that illuminated him slightly.
"Oh my god," Chloé gasped. Now she could see better, she understood why he came in the middle of the night. Adrien was clutching his side, hunched down as opposed to his usual perfect posture. Blood was quickly seeping through his normal clothes, Chloè imagined it did the same to his hero outfit.
She dashed to her bathroom where a first aid kit was kept in the cabinets. Adrien was now sitting on the lounge per Chloé's instructions. She turned on all the lights and got to work. He took off his clothes, allowing her to see the wound better. It was a gash that opened his stomach slightly.
"The suit managed to heal it the best it could. But I had to detransform." Adrien said while Chloé cleaned said wound.
"Even if you were in there longer, you'd still need to be patched up buddy," Plagg said. Chloé was used to seeing the small floating creature after over a month of it freely hanging out when it was just the two blondes.
Chloé wrapped a bandage on his torso. Luckily he didn't need stitches. They'd need a doctor for that and they mist avoid that for obvious reasons.
"I'm assuming you got injured by an akumatised villain," Chloé said, "but won't Ladybug's cure fix you?"
"She's still fighting. I couldn't continue any longer so she told me to get help. At least I managed to use cataclysm on the villain." Adrien answered, colour returning to his face.
Chloé googled what to do after injury and blood loss. Thankfully the hotel had 24 hour room service so she ordered beef, sliced oranges, orange juice and a cheese charcuterie board.
Although Adrien refused to eat at first, he eventually scarfed down the meat after seeing red ladybugs everywhere. He was cured of course, but he lost a lot of blood. The red meat tasted amazing too. Chloé only drank the juice. Plagg barely resisted the urge to ask for seconds. No offense to Adrien's kitchen, but Chloè's staff always has the best services.
The kwami stayed silent when he felt the ringing in his head and his ears twitching.
"Ugh. My room smells horrendous because of you." Chloé scolded Plagg for having the stinkiest cheese as his favourite food.
"What kind of psychopath attacks at 1 am?" Chloé complained. "On a school night! He's up late looking for people on mental breakdowns? The devil works hard but Hawkmoth works harder.""
Adrien laughed so hard he choked on cheese. "I agree though. He's a psychopath alright. The poor victims must be having a rougher night."
Not rougher than yours, Chloé wanted to say, but the last time she made a similar comment he said "everyone has different problems. Just because mine seems harsher doesn't mean others' aren't important"
God, he's such a dork. She loves him for it—in a platonic way. She realised she never liked him that way, she was just brainwashed by her parents to think they were perfect for eachother. No, she's seen too much of his darker (dorkier) side just like he has seen hers.
They were polar opposites, like day and night. She was the mean girl bully while he was the sunshine heartthrob. But they were still best friends, their relationship was close as of siblings.
"Thanks, Chloè." Adrien said for the 5th tine. She offered him a shower but he refused. He transformed as his superhero persona and took off into the night.
......................
Chat Noir opened his staff-phone thing to 7 missed calls from Ladybug before answering the 8th call.
He barely got to say hello when Ladybug screamed at his. "Chat! Oh my god are you okay?? Do you know how worried I was? I had to feed Tikki before making more calls. Please tell me my cure worked on you!"
"Calm down, Bugaboo. I'm fine. Yes, your cure worked. It would've been cat-astrophic but I got help in time."
Ladybug took a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you're back on your feet again, Chaton."
"You mean back on my paws" he giggled at his pun. He could practically hear her eye roll.
"Since you still have the ability to joke around, I'm assured that you definitely are fine. I'm sorry for letting you get hurt though. If I had just dodge—"
"Bug, listen to me. It's not your fault. We knew we could get hurt doing this but we chose to do it anyway. Don't overthink it, okay? The important thing is we are both in perfect condition."
"Yeah..." Ladybug took a little while to answer, " Yeah you're right. Thanks Chat. Get home safe. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Chat heard the beep and threw his staff on the rooftop as he collapsed as well. There was a lot on his mind. Especially his lady. She sounded so worried. So anxious. Even more so than usual. Whoever she was as a civilian, Chat hoped she was having a better day.

Chapter Text
Another visit from Chat Noir alarmed Chloè. She immediately got up to check on him. Luckily it wasn't anything serious. Adrien has been coming a lot more than usual, either injured or just venting about his life.
This time, he plopped on her bed and snuggled against the soft pillows, hiding his face. During these kind of moments Chloè knew not to say anything. Instead she lied down with him, trying to be a comforting presence.
After what seemed like hours Adrien finally looked up from the pillows staring at Chloè's side features as her eyes closed.
"Why didn't you ever ask?" Adrien asked her.
"Ask what?"
"If I resented you for every akuma you caused. Or why I still stick with you even after the horrible things you'd done."
"Because I knew the answer." Chloè said simply with her eyes still closed. She could feel Adrien shift.
"I'm sorry." He said. His voice further than before.
"It's not your fault. It was my own actions. I decided to do those things without anyone telling me."
Adrien kept quiet. He gripped the silky sheets and turned back to her. "We both know it isn't true. Hawkmoth-"
"Hawkmoth or not I had a choice," Chloè cut him off. Her eyes sprang open and tears welled up. "I was the reason so many people got akumatised. And because of my own selfishness Ladybug lost her trust in me."
"It wasn't just him. It's not entirely your fault either. Your mom and dad, me-"
"- Let's talk about something else. I'm not ready for an emotional spill yet."
He sighed, nodding at her suggestion.
Another bit of silence settled between them before Chloè changed the subject like she wished.
"When are you gonna confess your feelings to Dupain-Cheng?"
Adrien immediately grew flustered, stuttering and blushing. "W-wha? Marinette is just a friend!"
"Oh my god. If I hear that one more time I'm gonna put a bullet in my head."
"It's true! She's a really good friend!" He sprang up from bed.
"Make that two bullets." She smirked. Adrien turned red as a tomato as Chloè continued to tease him.
"Argh! Fine! Yes I have a crush on Marinette!"
"Finally! That took so long." She laughed.
"Chloè!!" He groaned, falling back onto the bed. "I don't even know if she likes me back, she dated Luka and I'm far from him!"
"Adrikins. You're literally the number one model in Paris. You're rich and you got brand deals everywhere. Let's not forget your father, although useless garbage, is a top fashion icon. Marinette wants to be a designer. You're the best bachelor out there and you're comparing yourself to a random guy on the street."
"Luka is great..."
"And so are you." Chloè made sure to make her point across and it worked. His confidence seem to return.
"I guess I can try asking her out on a date?"
"That's right."
"Maybe we'll like spending time together. And we'd go on another date?"
"Mmhm!"
"But then our dates would get interrupted during an akuma attack."
"Everything gets interrupted during an akuma attack." Chloè pointed out, trying to get him to calm down.
"But it'll be different cause I'm Chat Noir! I'd have to leave her."
"Everyone would be immediately hiding anyway. It'll be fine."
"But then I'd have to bail on everything. Heck I'm bailing school a lot too! This is never gonna work when I'm Chat Noir!"
Chloè rolled her eyes. This boy could be dramatic sometimes.
"You're overthinking, Adrikins. Just do it! Live your life for once!" She shouted.
He sighed, finally agreeing to do as she says. They spent the rest of the night planning a way to confess before ultimately falling asleep. Of course Adrien was blushing and stuttering throughout the whole conversation just because the topic is Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
When Chloè woke up the next day, she was alone and her window was wide open.
........
"Hey Marinette!" Adrien greeted her as usual.
Marinette yelped in surprise and almost dropped her phone. She said hello back, but was stuttering like crazy. Although Adrien tried to make small talk while walking into class, the bluenette just ran away to the opposite direction.
When he walked into class, Adrien looked like a lost puppy, literally. His face and lips were down, while his eyes held almost tears in them. Every few seconds a sigh would escape his lips. Chloè sworned she saw dog ears drooping from his head.
Chloè rolled her eyes and groaned. Looks like his attempts failed. She stood up, grabbing all her things and took Adrien to sit at the very back. She made sure Sabrina stayed seated in the front.
Nathaniel, always in his place at the back, raised his eyebrows when Adrien was shoved into the row next to him. He, like everyone else, decided not to question the school's mean girl and ignored them.
Lila however was different.
"Chloè did you have a fight with Sabrina?" She asked. "I'm sure Sabrina didn't do anything wrong. I hope you forgive her. Oh! And is Adrien okay sitting with you at the back? I notice he's more focused at the front with Nino. I'm sure he wouldn't want to be distracted from class."
The rest of the class followed Lila's lead, glaring at Chloè for trying to disrupt their model student. Only a select few didn't bother to join. Namely Nathaniel, Juleka and Max.
"I'm fine wherever I sit." Adrien said before Chloè could. Despite his perfect smile, his hands were clutched underneath the desk so hard that dents formed under his nails.
"Chloè is my first and bestest friend. I just wanted to sit with her once in a while." Adrien continued. "Is it wrong for me to spend time with my friend?"His expression turns into one that was filled with sadness rather than anger.
"My schedule is so busy that I barely have time for leisure. You know my dad is really strict. School is the only place I can hang with friends. I'm sorry, I didn't realise talking with Chloè would upset you guys."
Everyone panicked that their sunshine boy was on the verge of crying. They immediately told Adrien not to worry and they were mistaken. Lila apologised through gritted teeth.
A playful smile danced on Chloe's lips. To her amusement, Adrien should be an actor rather than a model. While half the things he said were true, the other half was just pure bullshit.
Sabrina spoke up too. She said Chloè wasn't mad at her nor did she mind that Adrien and Chloè wanted to spend time together. This solidified the class to leave them alone.
When Marinette finally walked into class, she raised her eyebrows at the weird tension in the air. Deciding to ignore it, she took her place next to her best friend as usual.
"Did something happen?" Marinette whispered to her best friend.
"Notice Chloè sitting at the back with Adrien?" Alya whispered back. Marinette nodded while taking a maybe not so subtle glance.
"Lila thought Chloè was fighting with Sabrina and was trying to defend her. Only to get shut down by Adrien. I kind of feel bad for Lila but it was pretty uncalled for. I'm sure she just wanted to protect Sabrina from the evil Chloè though." Alya explained.
Marinette tried so hard not to roll her eyes. Sure Chloè is horrible but Lila is no better. Given Lila's true personality, she might be the actual one at fault.
The gossip session was forced to a stop when Mme Bustier walks in to start her lesson.

Chapter Text
Chloè talked in whispers but only when Mme Bustier wasn't speaking. That's because on top of being a dork, Adrien is also a nerd.
"I saw that pathetic attempt to talk to Dupain-Cheng and her stupid response." She whispered.
"Then you saw she ran away from me!" Adrien whispered-shouted. "It's proof Marinette hates me. She's probably so disgusted by me that she always runs away."
"Oh my fucking god, Adrikins." Chloè muttered.
"What!"
"You are a fucking idiot. I swear I'm losing my mind. Why am I even setting you up with Dupain-Cheng? Ugh, let's talk later."
Chloè roughly packed hers and Adriens things, giving him an annoyed look. She walked to the front taking her usual seat with Sabrina. Adrien was left speechless and confused.
"Are you alright, Chloè?" Mme Bustier asked when her lessons were disrupted by the blonde making a small commotion.
"Couldn't see the board." Chloè answered, a hand propped up to her chin. She debated for a moment before apologizing. "I'm sorry, Mme Bustier."
A collective gasp was heard. Chloè Bourgeois NEVER apologize.
Mme Bustier smiled, and she seemed proud in a way. "It's alright, Chloè. Remember that you can see me anytime if you have any problems at all." She looked up to the rest of the class, "That applies to all of you."
Then she continued teaching.
It felt....good. Chloè felt good.
She recalled Audrey's words, "Apologising is for peasants and losers. A Bourgeois does not apologise."
Chloè shouldn't have listened to her mother, no matter how desperate she was for a mother's attention. Mme Bustier seems to be opening Chloè's eyes.
Heading to lunch Chloè wore her usual resting bitch face unintentionally. Coupled with her reputation, it was the norm for students to flee whenever she passes through. She didn't need to queue either because of this.
"What do you want Sabrina?" Chloè said suddenly after observing the menu.
"Sorry? I'm getting whatever is available. Of course if you want something else that's fine!" The redhead answered, clearly flustered.
"I'm asking what you want for lunch. Pasta? Chicken? I can get you takeout too. Are you feeling Chinese? Japanese? Thai?"
"I, I don't understand." Sabrina said. "Do you want to eat out Chloè?"
"Oh for the last time, what would you like to eat? I'm buying." Chloè replied emphasizing every word.
"Oh! Uhh. I guess, I'm craving sushi..."
"Great. I'll call Jean."
"Um, Chloè? Is today a special day? I'm sorry if I forgot but I'll make it up to you I promise!"
"No. It's not a special day. I just want to treat my friend to sushi. I haven't been the best person in your life but I'll try to fix that. This is my way of apologising so just shut up and let's eat."
Sabrina noticed the blonde's ears go red. She took a mental picture to never forget.
....................................................................................
The day after, Chloè was surprised to see someone else in her designated seat, right next to Sabrina. It was one of those rare days where she'd arrive at school by herself.
She didn't like people taking what's hers. Especially if 'people' happens to be one Lila Rossi.
"You're in my seat, sausage-hair." Chloè dumped her bag on the table, making a loud thud.
"Oh, sorry!" Lila said but did not get up. "I was just asking Sabrina if she'd tutor me since she has good grades. Prince Ali invited me for a charity tour which means I'm gonna miss a few classes. I would really appreciate it if we switch seats for a while, Chloè. After all, I just wish to study with Sabrina!"
Before Chloè could refute, her classmates cut her off.
"It's not forever, Chloè. You can sit with Nathaniel." Mylène said.
"Yeah! Besides, poor Lila is gonna miss a lot of classes! Going to a charity tour is amazing though!" Rose added.
"That's right. It wouldn't hurt to quit being a brat for once, Chloè." Alix smirked.
"Does Sabrina agree to this? Sabrina!" Chloè shrieked. Honestly she didn't care if Rossi got a scholarship or drop dead right then, but the jab from Kubdel hurts.
"Um, I don't mind if Lila wants me to teach her....." Sabrina said meekly. "I'm sorry Chloè." She mumbled.
"Fine." Chloè shrugged with her arms folded against her chest. She grabbed her bag and stomped up the stairs. After all she's done for Sabrina, this is how she gets repayment?
"Wait." She stopped in her tracks and turned around. "I don't get it."
"It's easy. Lila wants to learn unlike you." Alix scoffed.
"I know that Kubdel, shut up. I wasn't talking to you." Chloè ignored the protests and leaned closer to Lila.
"If you really want to get your grades up, why don't you ask Dupain-Cheng? She is number one after all."
Lila put on a pitiful face, "Oh... I mean, I'd love to. But Marinette doesn't like me that much.... Sigh, I just want us to be friends!"
Marinette growled and clenched her pen. She was ready to retaliate but Chloè beat her to it.
"If Marinette Dupain-Cheng does NOT like you, it's clearly your fault. Baker girl is like a saint according to you lot. It's hard for her to hate someone. Everyone hates ME, so I get it. But you, Rossi, are different. Kubdel here may think you're all that but I see the truth." Chloè said.
She turned to the three girls who were defending Lila. "Watch out girls. Rossi here has a baaad reputation to more people than you think."
Chloè gave a sweet smile, promptly sauntering to the back next to Nathaniel.
The red-headed boy watched the whole exchange, not surprised to see Chloè sit next to him. However he didn't dare to take so much like a glance, much less start a conversation.
"What was that?" Marinette asked Alya.
"You tell me." Alya responded. "That was weird...."
It wasn't enough that Lila decided to open her mouth and let flies hover Chloe's face, after school she pulled another shit.
"Oh my gosh Chloè I'm so sorry!!" Lila shouted when Chloè fell.
The blonde screamed in pain upon impact. She roughly got up and jabbed a finger on Lila's chest.
"You did that on purpose, Rossi!" Chloè hissed. "Don't you dare give me that fake act, bitch!"
Three people stood in between them, defending Lila and pulling her away. Alix, Rose, and Mylene had sour faces.
"Stop it Chloè. Haven't you said enough. It was an accident and Lila apologised."
"HAH!" Chloè snickered. "Mark my words, you're gonna regret this."
"But Chloè!" The brown haired girl stepped towards her. "Please don't hurt them! I was the one at fault!" Lila clenched her hands together and pleaded.
Adrien swiftly came to his best friend's side. He pulled Chloè behind him, creating distance between everyone else.
"Knock it off Lila. I saw everything."
Lila clenched her hands tighter, taking a step closer in which Adrien created even more distance. "N-no, Adrien it's not what you think-"
"Like I said, I. Saw. Everything. Let's go, Chlo." Adrien dragged Chloè with him outside, followed by Nino, Alya and Marinette.
Adrien released his hold on his best friend.
"Thanks, Adrikins but I want to be alone right now..... I'll text you later."
Adrien nodded. "Okay, but call me if anything goes wrong. I mean it, Chlo." His best friend smiled and agreed. She walked away looking for her driver's parked car.
"Are you okay, dude?" Nino asked, putting a hand on his shoulders.
Adrien sighed, "Not really." Alya and Marinette were there to comfort him too.
"I swear I'm gonna kill her." Adrien's face darkened.
"Uhh...I don't think killing Chloè is a good idea." Alya commented.
"Not Chloè!" Adrien snarled. "I'm bout to murder Lila. She's so infuriating. I can't believe she did that!"
"Dude, it was just an accident?" Nino asked in concern.
"You guys actually believe that?? Lila has been lying about her entire life and you didn't notice? First she's always saying bad stuff about Marinette and now she's making Chloè look worse. I bet this isn't even the first time she's hurt someone deliberately. Marinette I know she did it to you!" Adrien rambled.
"I-uh- yes, she, she did. But no one believes me." Marinette looked at her bestie wistfully.
"Look guys, maybe you're overreacting. Lila would never do that." Alya reasoned.
"Fine. Don't believe us. Let's go Marinette." Adrien left while holding Marinette's hand, making her go with him.
Alya and Nino stared at their friends' growing distance dumbfoundedly.

Chapter Text
If it wasn't because of the awful mood, Marinette would be over the moon right now. Low and behold, Adrien Agreste grasps her arm and makes his way god knows where.
"A-adrien?" She stammered. The golden haired boy stopped and turned towards her with an apologetic face.
"Sorry for dragging you here, Marinette," he conceded. "I was so mad at Lila for hurting my friends, and at our other friends for taking us for granted. Sigh, I can't seem to control my emotions."
"Adrien... It's not your fault. You have a right to be angry. Hey, I'm here for you."
Finally, the boy cracked a smile. "Thanks Marinette, you're a really good friend."
Both teens blushed, but the little pain in their chest was undeniable. Just a friend huh.
Adrien mentally kicked himself. He had to sabotage himself didn't he! Adrien recalled what Chloè said and quickly added, "Actually, I wish you were more than a friend."
Yes, he was panicking internally. This could very much backfire.
Meanwhile Marinette was malfunctioning. Her palms were sweaty and her face was red. She couldn't believe her ears. No way her crush said the words she wanted to hear for so long.
"Say that again?"
"I see you more than a friend." Adrien repeated, now smirking. He realised maybe it won't backfire.
"You wanna grab a bite? I'm hungry. Are you hungry? It's kind of hot isn't. Maybe we should get ice cream. Maybe after a meal. Or maybe you need to get back to your schedule-" Marinette babbled.
"I don't want to get back to my schedule." Adrien cut her off. "I'm not feeling it. My dad's gonna kill me when he finds out but I don't care. Let's get something to eat, Mari. I'm actually craving your dad's croissant."
Marinette's head went to autopilot. She led the way to her family's bakery, stopping for ice cream on the way. She prayed really hard that no akuma would interrupt her bliss.
"Maman! Papa! I'm home!" Marinette announced as she popped her head through the door. "And I brought a friend."
Adrien waved shyly to Tom and Sabine, who were working on their pastries.
"Why hello, Adrien. It's nice to have you here." Sabine said. "Come in, I was just about to get started on dinner."
"We're gonna hang out upstairs!" Marinette called out to her parents.
"Is it okay to go in your room? Your mom and dad won't get mad?" Adrien nervously questioned.
Marinette raised an eyebrow, "why would they get mad? I told them we're hanging out. Is something wrong?"
"Oh, it's nothing. I've just never been to someone's place before or even had anyone over except for Chloé. My father allows nobody inside our gate, much less inside my bedroom. Even when Chloé comes over, he insists Natalie stays close to listen " he explained.
"I'm so sorry, Adrien. It must've been tough for you." Marinette symphatize. "Don't worry, just relax."
Adrien followed Marinette to her attic room, admiring the cozy home in the process. Her room itself was especially relaxing. There was paper and fabric strewn across the floor, pencil dust littered the table, dozens of photos decorated the wall. Marinette swiftly hid her Adrien wall.
"Wow, your room is so cool."
Marinette nodded a thank you while standing awkwardly in the middle of the room. She tried so hard but her brain could not forget his confession from earlier. She told him to relax, but on the contrary she couldn't calm her racing heart either. Adrien noticed this, and racked his brains to make her feel more comfortable.
Luckily, he noticed the game console resting on her table.
"How about a game? I heard you're pretty good."
"Sure!" She excitedly turned on her monitor and console. She chose Mario Kart and they both competitively started battling for the most wins.
Chloè would be proud if she saw Adrien now. Hanging out with his crush in her house. Totally not freaking out. (He's freaking out)
After 3 rounds of Mario Kart and half through level 1 of Left4Dead2, the two were called down for dinner. Adrien hesitated, he didn't want to intrude. But the entire Dupain-Cheng family assured him he was welcomed to eat anytime he wanted.
Tom teased his daughter throughout dinner, laughing at the way Marinette pouts when she's mad. It's not every day his daughter brings him a boy. Especially the boy she's been gushing about for years.
Meanwhile Sabine just kept adding food into Adrien's bowl. Side dishes, rice, soup. Adrien was experiencing first hand the care of an Asian mother. He wouldn't mind finishing the entire fridge, Sabine was really good at cooking.
Sabine was sensitive to things only mothers like herself could understand. She quickly picked up on how hungry Adrien really was. She's heard rumours of course, about the famous designer Gabriel Agreste pressuring his only son excessively and controlling every bit of his life. Sabine wouldn't be surprised if Gabriel was forcing his son to starve just so he could fit in a few clothes. She's met the guy once, and once was enough.
From then on Marinette's house was deemed a haven by Adrien. Her humble home was everything he'd ever wanted. Good food, supportive parents and most of all, privacy.
............................................................................
Meanwhile Chloè was trying to let out some steam in her own way. She ordered her driver to drop her off and leave her alone. She needed some time by herself.
She was walking in the streets of Paris, not minding the flurry of people around doing their own thing. As long as they didn't disturb her thing.
Her ears were immediately drawn to the soft strumming of guitar strings. It was a light melody, something that she did not recognise. It was soothing. She felt the rage inside her slolwy fade as the strumming grew louder.
The moment she arrived she arrived in front of the blue haired boy, he stopped playing. He gave her a soft smile, "Hey Chloè."
She did not respond.
He pat the empty space on ground inviting her to sit down. Normally she'd repulsed at the idea of dirtying her clothes but today hasn't exactly been normal. She sat down, taking in her surroundings.
Other than the herself and Luka, there weren't anyone around. It was quiet stretch of land right next to the Seine.
"Any requests?" Luka asked.
"What you were playing just now," she replied.
"Glad you like it. I kimda made it on a whim." He chuckled. Then he started the song from the top.
Chloè closed her eyes, letting her other senses to do all the work. She felt a light breeze brush her cheeks as soft music flowed into her ears. She sighed, feeling the situation calm her down.
Soon though the cold prickled her skin. She was wearing a striped sleeveless halter top and pants. It definitely did not help with the dropping temperature.
The music stopped but she kept her eyes closed. She heard rustling on her right side where Luka was sitting. She felt a heavy cloth drape over her shoulders.
Chloè turned to him, raising her eyebrow.
"You looked cold." He said simply, still smiling. Without his tacky hoodie, his arms were now exposed to the wind. Chloè didn't know how and why she was currently attracted to him. His bangs sway so slightly with each tilt of his head, much like the necklace clinking around his neck. His hand still clutching his guitar like it was a precious diamond. And the way his lips turn into a smirk every single time they made eye contact.
It's just the mood, Chloè thought. Just the lighting.
Luka carefully place his guitar into its case, swinging the case around his shoulders as he stood up. He offered her a hand. She accepted it, taking a minute adjusting the jacket once she was up.
"Do you want me to walk you home?" He offered.
"No thanks. I don't really feel like going home right now." Chloè tugged on her sleeves. After all that drama with Lila and Sabrina, she wasn't in the mood to see her parents arguing next. Plus the fact that her half of a sister would be there. All the more reason to stay out late. She had her phone and wallet with her anyway, she had the means to stay in a single restaurant for 5 hours or check into a different hotel.
"Then wanna come over to mine? It's not exactly a 5 star hotel. It's not even a proper house to be honest. But we have an entire set on deck." He chuckled again.
Chloè pretended to think for a moment. In all honesty, she didn't care as long as she had an excuse not to go home. Luka patiently waited for an answer.
"Alright." She said. "Lead the way."

Do comment and enjoy!
Chapter Text
Luka was not expecting Paris's number one diva to accept his invitation. She still wore his hoodie, this time the sleeves were down and her sunglasses rested on her nose.
"We're here. Now play something." Chloé crossed her arms and nodded towards the speakers and whatever electronics bundled up together. She sat down on the wooden floor of the deck, which was again something she would never do. The least she could do was find a dry spot.
"Right away, Your Majesty!" He teased.
On his acoustics he played light melodies but on his electric guitar he could go all out in his favourite alternative rock music. His strumming was heavier and faster. Luka could guess it wasn't really Chloé's cup of tea but as long as she didn't complain, he continued.
Whenever he paused, the speaker feedback would whine and she would scold him while covering her ears.
So he never stopped.
He played until his fingers were numb and on the verge of bleeding.
"That was good." Chloé stated.
"Only good?" Luka huffed, taking a seat next to hear and chugging a water bottle.
"Wasn't great." She shrugged. She was teasing him. He was used to compliments of his mastery in music but her royal highness is stingy.
"If you play for me again tomorrow then I might say it's excellent."
"Deal." Luka agreed with zero hesitation.
...
Juleka eyed her twin with a frown. He looked happy. Too happy. Luka is always humming, yes. But this time he was humming the same tune over and over and over again.
"I just saw Chloé Bourgeois come out of our home half an hour ago. I'm still waiting for an explanation."
"Can't a friend come by and hangout?" He replied.
"Since when are you friends with Chloé??"
"Since an hour ago. I think."
Luka beckoned his twin sister to sit down and ruffled her hair once she did. "Look, Jules. I know you've experienced her bullying firsthand, but I promise, Chloé isn't as bad as you think. At least she's getting better. You know I would never hurt you."
"Fine," Juleka sighed. "I won't stop you but only because I trust you the most. Let's just hope you're right about her getting better."
"Thanks, Jules. It means a lot."
.........
When Chloé walked through the front door, she wasn't surprised to see her mother barking at the poor staff. Chloé hurried to the elevator in hopes of not being noticed. Unfortunately her mother happened to look her way.
"Casserole!" Audrey screamed. Chloé rolled her eyes behind her sunglasses.
It was almost sundown and instead of asking 'where have you been' or 'why are you back so late' like any normal mother, Audrey of course commented on her clothes. Well, Audrey barely tried in motherhood so why bother expecting it.
"What in the world are you wearing!? It's horrible! I thought I raised you better than to dress like a homo! Ugh, ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!" Audrey fumed.
"As a matter of fact, you hardly raised me at all." Chloé retorted, folding her arms and rolling her eyes for the nth time.
"Ridiculous!! Utterly ridiculous! You and your sister don't have an ounce of taste. I will not have my kin be associated with me when they're wearing garbage! Go do some shopping with Zoe. At least Zoé has an inkling of what New York fashionistas like." Audrey snarled.
"No thanks. It's almost dinnertime." Chloé returned a fake smile and entered the elevator. Of course Audrey would rather let her teen daughters roam around at night than wait for tomorrow to shop.
Before the doors could close it opened again when someone pressed the button outside. Zoé stiffened when she saw her older sister. She apologised and said she'll wait for the next one.
"Just get in." Chloé said, holding the door for her. "You rather deal with Style Queen?"
Zoé glanced at her mother still stressing the staff. Chloé's right, it's not worth it. Zoé got in mumbling a thank you.
"I'm sorry she got to you.... She was harsh." Zoé stammered.
"At least she got your name right." Chloé grumbled. "I don't even care anymore. She can complain all she wants, I'm not listening."
"Won't she get mad if you ignore her...?"
"She gets mad at the sun for shining." Chloé scoffed. "It doesn't matter what we do, she'll always get mad. Word of advice, just ignore her for a better life. "
The elevator dinged, signaling its arrival at the desired floor. Chloé closed her eyes, waiting for the door to close again and finally send her to her floor. Once the elevator dinged, she exited in a surprise to find her half-sister trailing behind.
"This is not your room." Chloé reminded.
"I know. It's yours." Zoé replied.
"Then why are you here?"
Zoé smiled brightly. She was taking a gamble here, she better not mess this up for herself. Based on Chloe's previous reactions, Zoé made a conclusion that she must've opened her heart a little bit. "Can't I spend time with my big sister?"
Usually, this is the part where Chloé screams for her half of a sister to get out and never show her face again. However, for the 3rd or 4th time in one day, Chloé did something she wouldn't normally do.
She invited Zoé in. Truly an abnormal day. Just an hour ago she was thinking of not going home so that she wouldn't see her half of a sister.
Zoé zipped around the suite like a kid in a park.
"Don't touch anything. Don't talk. Don't make any noises. Just don't make your presence known. I'm at my limit just letting you in." Chloé warned as she turned on the lights. Zoé saluted like a military officer and did a motion to zip her mouth.
Zoé didn't last 30 minutes before she got bored and started asking questions. Chloé kicked her out immediately.
Zoé stopped herself from being pushed out the door fully by grabbing the frames as tight as she could.
"I just have a really important question I'm super curius about! Pretty please I have to know!!" She pleaded.
"No talking!" Chloé grunted, still trying to kick her out.
"Why don't you ever say anything about mom to your dad?!" Zoé queried. "He does everything you ask him to!"
Chloé stopped dead in her tracks. She searched any hint of malice in her half sister's eyes. There was only pure innocence and curiosity.
"Because Daddy can't do everything." She growled. She slammed the door shut, rendering Zoé speechless.
Chloé sighs as she slid down with her back against the door. She ran her hands through her hair after removing her yellow scrunchie.
Painful memories surged through, replaying over and over again in her mind. Her mother called her a failure and an utter disappointment. Her father declined her dinner invite because he preferred the company of a girl who wasn't even his child. Her sister enjoying herself surrounded by friends and a stepfather who didn't care she was the result of an affair. She remembers everything.
It wasn't fair.
Was it her fault Audrey gave birth and abandoned her? Was it her fault André spoiler her rotten to avoid any real parenting?
Chloé wiped the tears falling from her cheek and that's when she realised; she was still wearing his hoodie.
She soon fell asleep in it, finding comfort in its warmth.
............................................................................
Why is it that Lila made her life mission to torment others? How did Lila become a pathological liar? Do her parents know about it?
Marinette has been looking for answers since the first time she caught Lila's lie. There was something fishy about the Italian girl, and Marinette trusts her instincts.
Sometimes Marinette doubt herself too. With how all her friends are convinced Lila is a saint, of course she'd get confused. But Marinette is determined to keep her resolve strong. Her head needs to be focused at all times. She cannot be persuaded.
Right now, her head is in the gutter.
Ever since Adrien's small confession, she couldn't get his image out of her brain. She hates to admit, but she did have impure thoughts at one point.
Delulu is not the solulu, she repeats to herself over and over againt.
Alas, when met with that perfect smile and soft blond hair, she could not resist. Adrien was perfect in her eyes. She loved him, and there was a chance he loved her.
Not even Lila could distract her from her imagination.
Except if said Italian was currently flirting with Adrien.
"Uh, Lila? You should stop. Adrien looks very uncomfortable with you that close to him." Marinette spoke up. Everyone's attention turned to her, curious at what she's talking about. Lila wrapped both her hands around Adrien's arm like a snake constricting its prey.
Lila subtly glared at her, "I was just teasing Adrien because of something he said. It's private."
Adrien was still trying to politely reject Lila. He squirmed in fright at the way she gripped his arm. It hurt.
"It's okay, Marinette. Don't be so jealous." Alya whispered.
"Oi! Rossi!" Chloé shouted from the back. She refused to sit with Sabrina ever again; mainly because Rossi planted her fake ass there before shaking it in front of Adrien like a slut.
"Stop batting your fake eyelashes and leave Adrikins alone. Boy is clearly uncomfortable. Did you even ask his permission to touch him like that?" Chloé growled. Adrien was obviously refusing the way Lila was pushing her chest against his arm.
"Oh! I'm sorry Adrien! I, i didn't know you'd feel uncomfortable! I thought we had a connection.... I mean, I really thought you asked me out last week.... I heard it wrong?" Fake tears fell from Lila's eyes. She earned pitiful glances from her classmates who were about to defend her.
"I have never, ever, said anything remotely romantic to you. I'm fucking tired of you doing this. Don't think I don't know you're conspiring with my father." Adrien said the last part lowly. He stood up and pushed her off. It felt freeing to have her away.
"You heard him Rossi. Back off or we'll file for sexual assault." Chloé threatened.
Alya slammed her hands on the table in rage, "That's too far Chloé! How could you excuse Lila of something so horrible??"
"And how could you let her do something so horrible!!?!" Chloé screamed back. "I watched Adrikins push Rossi away MULTIPLE times! Did she get a hint? No! He said no! That's sexual assault. Rossi if you don't stop crying right now and refuse to apologise I will bring you to court."
Lila responded by leaving the class.
"Great job Chloé. You bullied yet another kid until they cried." Alix clapped sarcastically.
"What the actual fuck is wrong with all of you? You're still on Rossi's side." Chloé said.
Adrien hugged his honorary sister, assuring her he was and always is on her side.
"Thank you, Dupain-Cheng. You're the only sensible one." Chloé said to Marinette. The bluenette blushed, wishing she did more for Adrien.
"Yeah, thanks Mari." Adrien thanked her next.
"As for the rest of you," he turned towards his classmates. "I was extremely uncomfortable with Lila. Please don't just watch next time. Do something. Oh and one last thing. Last week I confessed to Marinette, not Lila."
Everyone's jaw dropped.
"Did Adrien just confess.....?"
"No, I confessed last week. Like I said." He grinned.
Marinette felt like fainting then and there.
Gone were the concern for Lila as the newest gossip just dropped.
Adrinette is finally happening!
As the school day ended, Adrien requested to talk with Marinette alone. Rose was squealing at the romantic sight.
Chloé felt proud. Adrien finally worked up the courage to ask his crush out. But she couldn't shake off a fealing of dread. It was like a bomb was just waiting to explode. Firstly was the fact that nobody bat an eye at the harassment Lila made towards Adrien. It was so strange. Secondly Lila surely will make her move after this. They'd have to keep their guard up.....

Chapter Text
Life just hates Chloé.
It's been a week since she last saw her mother. And when Audrey finally returned, she was talking with Gabriel, displayed gingerly on the tablet Natalie was holding. Adrien and Marinette stood close.
Chloé heard the conversation clearer as she approached closer.
"I want your son to model for my new prodigy! That's final! Expect payment in an hour." Audrey demanded.
Gabriel sighed and agreed. He can't risk losing his most important client.
Prodigy? Model?
"Show your designs in my office, girl. I want 3 looks perfect for Mr Agreste." Audrey said to Marinette. She seemed happy to find a new talent to exploit.
However all hell broke loose when the blonde woman saw her daughter. Chloé passed by, entering the hotel without even greeting her mother.
"CLEO BOURGEOIS HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME!" Audrey screamed.
"My name is Chloé!" She retorted.
"You insolent brat! How has your father raise you all this time!? Ridiculous, Utterly ridiculous!" Audrey gripped on Chloe's arm, preventing her from running away. "I swear you need a severe punishment. You're grounded!"
"You have no right to say anything to me, Audrey." Chloé growled. "You lost it the moment you walked out on me and dad."
Audrey's face turned a deep shade of red laced with anger, "YOU FUCKING BITCH!"
She raised her hand, striking Chloé hard on the cheek.
"Chloé!" Adrien rushed to separate the mother and daughter. He shielded his best friend, his honorary sister. "The deal is off. I'm not modeling for you and Marinette isn't gonna design a single dress for your brand either."
Marinette rummaged in her purse for some kind of ointment or anything that could provide relief. Even though Chloé had bullied her all her life, her heart broke seeing Chloé slowly touching her cheek with a shaky hand.
"Can we get some ice please? Hurry!" Marinette asked a nearby staff. She followed them to the kitchen then running back to apply the bag of ice.
She carefully dabbed the bag on Chloé's cheek, hesitating whenever she winced.
"I wanna be alone." Chloé finally says. She shook off the two teens, taking a sharp breath. Adrien and Marinette just watched as Chloé leaved the hotel.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Marinette asked.
"She is." Adrien replied. "I hope."
............................................................................
Chloé arrived in front of the docks wearing the newly washed hoodie she refused to return. Yes, she wore it to school. It's been a week since she started coming everyday.
"Back for another show?" Luka grinned from atop the deck leaning against his arms.
When she didn't say anything, he knew something was wrong. Usually she'd reply with her own snide remarks. Chloé marched up without even glancing at him. She sat on the provided benches and watched him tune his guitar.
"Any requests?" He asked.
"Something that tells me not to end my life right now." Chloé answered nonchalantly.
Luka stiffened. He gave a look that needed answers.
He kneeled right in front of her never leaving her eyes. If a song is what she wants, a song he will give. If his life is what she wants, his life he will give. Anything as long as that sullen empty expression on her face is wiped out.
"I need a reason not to jump off this boat right now," Chloé added. "Sing to me."
So he sang,
"Won't you stay alive?
I'll take you on a ride,
I will make you believe you are lovely,
Won't you stay alive?
I'll take you on a ride,
I will make you believe you are lovely,
Your redemption won't grow stale,
We are now just setting sail,
On the seas of what we fear,
Treason now is growing near to me—"
[Lovely by Twenty One Pilots]
—"You are lovely." Luka said. "You can talk about it if you want. Or we can stay here in silence. We can do whatever you want."
Luka set his guitar aside, sitting next to her on the bench. "I'm here for you, my lovely."
So Chloé cried. It was not silent sniffles, she was wailing, letting it all out. She was tired, so tired. How much longer does she need to endure her mother's abuse? What does it take to get her father to look at her? Why did that half of a sister have to show up now of all times? Why her?
Chloé doesn't like people touching her. She's not a touchy-feely kinda girl. But she did not want to let go of Luka's embrace. She never felt safer than in his strong arms.
Soon she stopped weeping, reduced to stifling sobs and soft hiccups.
"Let's get you inside." Luka whispered. He lifted her up effortlessly. She clung on to him as they descended down the stairs into the cabin.
He weaved through the narrow space expertly, arriving in his room. He set her down on the bed, tucking her in. Luka left her for a moment but came back with a glass of water which she gladly accepted. She sat up leaning against the wooden walls.
"Feeling better?" He asked softly. She nods.
"I'm sorry for barging in..." Chloé said. Her voice was coarse and strained. He beckoned her to drink more water until she felt better.
"It's no biggy." Luka assured. He wanted to know more however he didn't pressure her. It's the last thing she needed.
Chloé voluntarily told him what happened. She did not show a hint of emotion the entire time she recalled the incident. Luka looked like he wanted to kill Audrey by the time she was finished.
Wrinkles formed on his skin as his brows knit tightly together. His delicate smile turned into a deep frown. His cheeks were tinted red in anger.
Chloé giggled.
"You're actually cute, you know," Chloé said to Luka, holding one arm up to caress his cheeks. "Your clothes could use some work but you're really cute."
"And you're beautiful." Luka smirked. "Inside and out. I know you're changing for the better. Even if no one else believes you, I do. I'm on your side, Chloé."
How was he so good at stirring up her emotions? In a good way of course. He hasn't even known her for so long.
"Thank you," she replied after careful consideration between sincere gratitude or sarcasm.
They both smiled. It turned awkward real quick though. Luka offered to give her time alone but she wanted him with her.
"Can I stay overnight?" Chloé asked. She pulled him by the wrist, beckoning him to lie down with her.
Luka nodded. He climbed under the covers and pulled her close. Humming a lullaby, he watched as Chloé slowly drift to sleep.
Chapter 9: I know you
Summary:
Plagg eats cheese. Ladybug gets a surprise reveal.
Notes:
Hello!

My progress has been slower and slower but I really hope y'all can be patient. Thanks for the read.
Chapter Text
"Audrey was adamant on having Marinette work with her. That's why we were there. She practically summoned us like a witch." Adrien munched on the chocolate cookies he was served with orange juice. Chloé got used to the smell of cheese constantly plaguing the air in her room at night, but she still scrunched her nose watching Plagg devour the wonderful platter of camembert.
"Seriously, Plagg. Why did it have to be cheese of all things!" Chloé complained. "Don't worry about it Adrien. I guessed as much-Plagg!! You're getting crumbs all over the place!"
"Sorry. Not sorry. You guys have maids." Plagg blew a raspberry.
"I give up." Chloé sighed. "What about Marinette?"
"Marinette did not accept of course. I think she's warming up to you though!" Adrien grinned like the Cheshire cat.
Chloé merely scoffed as Plagg ordered more cheese.
"More like, she saw how pathetic I really am."
"Of course not! I mean, you're not at all pathetic, Chlo. Personally I think you're the best!" Adrien chided.
"Of course you do." Chloé chuckled at the sudden memory of tiny six year old Adrien telling her that.
"I think you're the best too, Buzzer," Plagg took another bite in his cheese. "As long as the cheese keeps coming."
The black kwami has been giving her bee related nicknames lately for some reason. When asked he'd say, "You're always complaining. Noisy like bumblebees buzzing."
"Where were you anyway? I didn't see you in your room last night..." Adrien asked.
"I was....out."
"Out where?"
"Sabrina's house."
"No you weren't. Sabrina said you only hang out with her at school these days."
"I just took a walk in the park." She lied.
"Chloé. You didn't come home until morning. Tell me the truth." Adrien narrowed his eyes, emphasising that he was being serious.
"Geez, you're nosier than my own parents! I stayed over at a friend's place. Happy now?" Of course Chloé wasn't going to tell him who exactly that friend was.
"Fine. I'll let it go, for now." Adrien huffed. He'll grill her the next chance he gets.
............................................................................
Ladybug shuddered at the damage caused by the akumatised villain. The fight has been going on for what felt like forever, but they've barely scratched the guy.
"Chat!" Ladybug winced whenever she spoke. They were hiding in the sewers to discuss their next move.
"I think we should get the bee to help. I'll contact Vesperia-"
"No." Chat Noir commanded. "You're hurt, m'lady. You need to get help"
He was right of course. She could barely mover her right arm because of her shoulders being torn open.
"Detransform, feed Tikki. I have a plan, but you have to trust me. M'lady, can you trust me? I know that wound is not gonna close up easily. I've been there remember? There's someone I know who can help you."
How can Ladybug resist those puppy-kitty?-eyes. He was practically on his knees.
Ladybug sighed. "I trust you more than anything in the world, chaton."
He responded with a cheshire grin.
"Go find Chloé Bourgeois. Spoiler alert, she knows both our identities. Gotta go!"
Ladybug didn't even get the chance to respond as her jaw dropped to the floor.
Chat Noir began by grabbing the villain's attention. He taunted and made silly faces. He used his baton to strike and as form of escape. While Chat was playing hide and seek with the villain, Ladybug slipped out to the hotel.
She hesitated at first, but the blood on her arm and the rapid beeping in her ear calls for desperation.
Marinette burst through the balcony windows as her transformation dropped. She clutched the pink curtains, drawing them close.
"Dupain-Cheng?!"
Chloé stood alarmed. She was just reading on her lounge chair when a bloodied girl stumbled through the window.
"C,chat Noir sent m,me here," Marinette stammered. She was still unsure of this.
A serious look washed over Chloé's face. She beckoned the blunette to sit down. She carefully inspected Marinette's bloody shoulder and found a piece of glass embedded in her skin.
"I thought your suit protects you from this kind of stuff."
"I was detransformed. I was hoping once I transform I'd be healed but I guess I was wrong." Marinette grimaced as Chloé removes the glass. She then cleaned the wound and wrapped it up.
"Hey, Chloé?" Marinette called out. The blonde hummed in response. "How do you know Chat Noir?"
"You're a smart girl, Marinette. Figure it out."
Marinette flinched at the use of her first name. Perhaps she should get use to it. And did Chloé just compliment her again?
Realization dawned on Marinette as she sifts through the blonde's closest contacts. She observed Chloé's room for a hint or an answer.
The smell of cheese lingered in the air, a paw print printed and hung on the wall. Picture frames littered across the room. And finally, a closet full of boy's clothes. Specifically a boy named Adrien. How did Marinette know? She's obsessed, practically knows every mole on his body.1
"Is it Adrien?" Marinette gasped. Chloé nod her head. "Oh, wow. Uh......"
"I didn't tell him your identity. I just mentioned I know it."
"How-"
"Adrien was expressing how he feels about both you and Ladybug. He was worried it wouldn't work out if you dated him. So I thought, wouldn't it be easier if they were the same person?...... Then it hit me...."
"Huh. Turns out it's not that hard to figure it out ...."
"For me, yeah!" Chloé scoffed. "Your so called friends seem to be total idiots."
"Don't say that! They are not idiots!" Marinette defended.
"Oh yeah? Then why didn't any of them take your side whenever Lila frames you?"
Marinette grew quiet, seemingly shocked by the blonde's words.
Her inability to reply was saved by rapid knocks on the door.
"Chloé!" A muffled voice shouted while banging on the door. "Are you okay? I saw your window broken from outside!"
"I'm fine! Go away Zoé!" The blonde shouted back. She then turned to Marinette, "You better get out of here. Don't worry. People don't usually pay attention to the top floor of the hotel. Zoé is a special case."
The pig tailed bluenette nodded in response.
"Spots on!" Marinette transformed. She took one look back as her body prepare to jump from the window. "She doesn't have any bad intentions, you know? Give her a chance, Chloé."
With that, Ladybug threw her yo-yo and zipped away.
"I know," Chloé muttered to herself. "She's such a nice girl isn't she? But I can't. I just can't."
Chapter 10: I should be worried, right?
Summary:
Identities are revealed, fears are known.
Notes:
Uh, hi.
I know it's been a long time but as you can guess, I barely had any time (or motivation) to write. The last two semesters have been hard for me, dealing with anxiety attacks, health deterioration and many other things.
I'm sorry if this chapter sounds a bit bland or rushed. I'm simply trying to finish what I started. With that said, please enjoy.
Chapter Text
Marinette knows she should've been more worried. Chloé Bourgeois, her childhood bully and overall worst person ever, knows she's Ladybug.
However Marinette felt....serene.
As if Chloé knowing is like the most obvious thing ever. It's not like she's the only one who knows either. Alya and Luka were both aware.
But with Chloé it's different. She openly showed her disgust toward Lila, someone who's been tormenting Marinette in even worse ways. While Alya fully supports her job as a superhero, she doesn't even try to understand the conflict with Lila.
Neither of her friends do.
That thought made Marinette sad.
Which led to another thought. Should she be worried now she knows Chat Noir's identity? Is it fair that hers remain a secret to him?
"Haaaahhhh" Marinette sighed deeply, pressing her face onto the pink pillow.
"Are you okay Marinette?" Tikki asked, the rest of the kwamis flying behind her.
"I'm not, Tikki. I just realised I haven't been a good partner to Chat Noir. And it's all because I found out his identity. What if I didn't? I'd just be completely ignorant to my own horrible actions!" Marinette cried out, earning symphaty from the kwamis.
"I think you know what you must do, Guardian," Sass spoke. "Talk to him. It will be alright."
"If anything bad happens we'll be here to help!" Trixx said.
"We support any and every decision you make. You're our guardian after all." Tikki summarised.
"Thanks you guys. That's really comforting." Marinette leaned in to hug, well try to hug, all the kwamis. "But I'm gonna get a second opinion, just to be sure I wanna do this."
"Again, Marinette, we're here for you." Tikki emphasized. "Besides, we had this same exact conversation three days ago. You've put it off enough." The red kwami scolded.
"I know, I know. I'll do it now! Tikki. Spots on!"
Ladybug climbed her roof, sneakily swinging from one building to another until she arrived at her destination.
"Luka?" Marinette whispered, careful not to make too much noise. She did sent him a text, but he hasn't read it. Honestly she didn't want to intrude in the middle of the night but Tikki was right. She has put off this matter far too long, and she needs help.
"Lu-Eeeek!!" Marinette yelped when she opened the bedroom door.
Immediately the two people cuddling in bed jolted awake. Luka instinctively pulled Chloé closer to him.
"Dupain-Cheng?" Chloé's raspy voice questioned. She was wearing one of Luka's shirts which was too big for her. Meanwhile, her usual perfect hair was tangled in none other than Luka's hands. "What are you doing here?"
"I-, I needed to talk to Luka...." Marinette covered her face and groaned, "I'm so sorry! I didn't know I'd intrude I mean maybe I shouldn't have sneaked in but I sent Luka a text yesterday and he said he'd listen to my problems so I assumed I could've visit tonight because it's really really important and I didn't know Chloé would be here because since when were you acquainted but I'm so so sorry to disturb you two why am I still talking I really should-"
"MARINETTE!" Chloé shouted, stopping the bluenette in the middle of her rambling. Luckily Anarka and Juleka were conveniently out of town.
"Calm down, baker girl. One at a time." The blonde sighed.
"Right. Sorry." Marinette cleared her throat. "Would you two help me? I need advice."
"Sure. If you don't mind of course." Luka turned to Chloé.
"I'm already up. Shoot, Dupain-Cheng." The blonde crossed her arms.
"I don't know if I should tell Chat Noir I know he's Adrien. I'm scared he'd hate me for being Marinette...."
"Fucking idiots..." Chloé muttered. "He is literally your boyfriend! Just do it, and don't think too much about it. If whatever stupid thing you're worried about comes true, I will personally snap Adrien's head."
"Woah woah, hold on!" Luka intervened, "You-she knows?" He looked at the two alternately.
Marinette nodded in response.
"Alright." Luka shrugged, deciding to just go with it. "Anyway Chloé's right, Marinette. Adrien truly loves you sincerely. It just wouldn't make sense for him to get mad. Just relax and take deep breaths. Tell him who you are not just because you need to, but because you trust him."
The bluenette released a deep breath, "Thanks Luka, Chloé."
"Are we done here?" Chloé asked sarcastically.
"Actually, no. There's one more thing." Marinette reached into her purse, taking out a small hexagonal box.
"Luka Couffaine, if you accept this miraculous, you must swore to secrecy and only use your power for good. Do you accept joining Ladybug and Chat Noir in defending Paris?"
"I do." Luka answered in a heartbeat. He took the box from Marinette's hand, immediately knowing it was Sass inside.
"Chat Noir and I weren't allowed to reveal our identity to eachother for safety. There's no telling what would happen after I reveal it. In case of emergencies, you're our second chance Luka." Marinette explained. "Remember, you have taken an oath. I'll see you two later. Bug out!"
Marinette transformed into her superhero alter ego and left.
"Let's get back to sleep." Chloé yawned, pulling Luka back to bed.
............................................................................
Chat Noir landed softly on the metal deck of The Eiffel Tower with practiced poise. Stealth is one of many perks of being a cat. And this cat was sneaking behind his lady's back hoping for a scare.
It worked mainly because Ladybug was lost in thought.
"Chat! You scared me!"
Chat Noir responded with a mischievous smile akin to the Cheshire Cat.
"So what do you wanna talk about, bugaboo?" Chat sat next to her. He noticed the troubled look on her face. "Nothing is wrong right?"
"Other than the fact that there's a magical villain out to get us? Nope not a thing out of place. Everything is perfect. Just peachy."
"M'lady," Chat Noir gently placed his paw on her shoulder.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here. Tell me what's bothering you, bugaboo."
Ah, right, he was always so caring. How could she push him away all this time?
"Chat, I want to tell you the truth. I don't want to keep secrets from you anymore. You are my one and only partner." Ladybug sighed. "This might take a while."
"I have all the time in the world." He reaffirmed.
"Tikki. Spots off."
"Wait. What?" Chat's voice quivered as a flash of bright red light blinded him. He shut his eyes tight, keeping them closed even when the light disappeared.
"I was not expecting that......" Chat said.
He didn't know what else to say. This was something he always wanted. Knowing her identity was his final wish.
"Open your eyes, Adrien."
Chat Noir snapped his eyes open. Hundreds of emotions swarmed his head that confused him. One thing was for certain, he never felt happier.
"Marinette," He breathed out in awe. "I really really don't know how to react right now."
The bluenette giggled. "I just love your honesty."
"It's part of what makes me paw-some."
"Don't you dare utter another pun in this conversation," Marinette scowled. "Or I'll break up with you."
"You won't." Chat Noir smirked. He detransformed back to his civilian self.
Adrien snuggled right next to Marinette, bringing his hand up to tuck the strands of hair behind her ear.
"You're right. I won't." Marinette said.
"So," Adrien fiddled with her pigtails. "Now that the big reveal has finally happened, what's next?"
"There's something I need to talk to you about." Marinette sighed, her face grew solemn.
"Starting from now, I promise to tell you everything. No more secrets. You have to promise me too."
"For you, m'lady, anything. I promise."
"The first thing was about our identities. I'll tell you the identities of the temporary heroes too. And then, you choose a miraculous you want to keep. An extra precaution you know? To be honest, being the Guardian has been taking a toll on me. Every moment of my life I'm anxious I'd lose the miraculouses to Hawkmoth."
"So you want me to hold on to some of them." Adrien concluded.
Marinette nodded. "Just one for now."
"And who are these temporary holders? Wait before that, who else knows you're Ladybug? Aside from Chloé."
She laid her head on his shoulders, sighing once again.
"Alya was the first person I told. Then there's Master Su Han. He's like this miraculous guardian monk? Luka, Bunnyx and lastly Chloé knows."
"A monk? Seriously?"
"Hey, I don't make the rules. Apparently there was actually a whole temple dedicated to the miraculous. But we can talk about that later. So all that is the first thing. The second thing is a bit more...dark"
Adrien squeezed Marinette's hand in comfort.
"I'm here for you."
"I want to ask you another favour. You can't, under any circumstances, get akumatised."
The blond tilted his head in confusion, "I think that's obvious though? Why?"
"I'll be frank. You almost destroyed the world after discovering my identity in another timeline." Marinette exhaled her words in one breath. She explained everything to him. From the gift, to Chat Blanc, to Bunnyx, to the fix.
Silence followed afterward. Soon, Marinette found herself engulfed in a hug.
"You must've been so scared, Mari."
Marinette choked on her tears, "I was. So please exercise caution. I can't bear the thought of seeing you like that again."
Adrien pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead, brushing her bangs to the side. "We'll be okay."
Chapter 11: Rich Kids
Summary:
A little filler chapter focusing on the relationships of the rich kids of Paris.
Notes:
Sorry it's been so long. please comment your thoughts.
I wanted to write a bit about the dynamics between Chloé, Adrien and Felix. Also wanted to include Chloé's effort to change by accepting her sister.
Chapter Text
Life was squeezing lemons right into Chloé's eyes because she had to watch her parents act all lovey dovey again for their ridiculous party. They were so good at faking a relationship that they should receive an Oscar for it.
"They're such good actors! Could've fooled me if I didn't know any better. Ugh." Chloé rolled her eyes in disgust when her parents posed for a photo, Audrey interlacing her hands on her husband's arm.
"Remind me what's this party for again?" Adrien sighed tiredly. His schedule had been filled to the brim. Coupled with akuma attacks happening at ungodly hours, he barely had any time to rest.
"The hotel's 100th anniversary. It's a huge deal so that's why the party's so big, fancy and grand and also why my parents are the greatest actors tonight. They can't let anything go wrong when so many important people and various media have eyes on them." Chloé explained.
"Why are we here?" Felix asked exasperatedly. "I'd rather finish my studying."
After the Bourgeois family had made their center appearance, the two daughters were allowed to mingle anywhere they wanted. Well, almost anywhere.
Chloé, Adrian and Felix were seated on the same table near other high statused kids. For example, Prince Ali was at the table next to them.
The trio were accustomed to each other, and were glad they'd get to stick together. It was much easier than interacting with the rest of the snobby rich kids. Everyone knows they're insufferable, even Chloé herself.
"You two are awfully quiet," Felix commented, directing his gaze to the only other people sharing their table, Zoé and Kagami.
"I have no interest nor any need to speak." Kagami replied.
Felix's gaze on the Japanese girl lingered. She was wearing a black gown with gold accents, glittering stars littered her skirt like a starry night. Yes, Felix may have a teeny tiny crush on her. Yes, he might've sneakily took pictures of her on multiple occasions. Yes, he was obsessed with her every move. No, he won't say anything just yet.
Meanwhile, Felix himself was wearing a black suit and a patterned tie. He didn't look much different from his usual outfits but this time it was definitely more bedazzled with topaz cufflinks and yellow thread decorating his vest. He may or may not found out what Kagami was wearing beforehand.
"Come on, Kagami, we're all friends right? No need to be so stiff!" Adrien encouraged her.
When Kagami didn't say anything, Adrien continued. "Hey, let's ignore our parents for a sec. I know they're pushing for us to date for the sake of attention, but that doesn't mean we still can't be friends. Besides, Mari would hate to see us distant just because of our parents! She doesn't blame you anyway."
"I supposed I wouldn't want to upset Marinette. She is my friend after all. Like all of you." Kagami mustered a small smile which made Felix's heart skip a beat.
"Ugh, can we stop with this cheesy friend stuff. It's making me nauseous. And you--" Chloé pointed to her half sister, "--stop looking so glum. Don't bow your head like that, it's unbecoming of a Bourgeois!"
"S-sorry." Zoé apologized, trying not to look so nervous. "It's my first time at a party like this... I'm not used to it. I'm scared people will laugh at me" Zoé confessed.
"You are a Bourgeois, literally hosts of the best parties in the world! You have a custom Gabriel Agreste dress and Jimmy Choo heels. Not to mention that Hermes bag and diamond earrings. The media were fighting to take your photo. Have some confidence in yourself!" Chloé huffed. It may sound degrading, but in truth it was the best thing anyone has ever said to Zoé.
"You look beautiful too, Chloé. Absolutely stunning." Zoé complimented sincerely. Her half sister blushed and puffed out her cheeks to hide her embarrassment.
It was true though. Chloé wore an off shoulder emerald dress, a few shades darker than Zoé's. Another custom made by Gabriel Agreste of course. The statement necklace she wore matched with the rest of her jewellery in a way that didn't overshine or took attention away from her face. Her hair was in a tight bun with some lose strands hanging out that framed her face perfectly. Her makeup reflected her fierce personality with a red lip and smoky eye.
Adrian's outfit unintentionally complimented Chloé's when originally it was meant to match with the green of his eyes. White dress shirt, gray vest and green coat. Gabriel was inspired by the Bourgeois' green theme and decided on a rich colour for his son. However, the designer himself did not stay long. He attended the party briefly, appearing solely for a few words and one photo. Gabriel left as soon as he was done shaking hands.
The five teens turned their heads when an announcer asked for everyone's attention. The chatter of the banquet hall slowly dwindled to silence as the emcee cleared his throat.
"As part of today's special event, the Bourgeois family and Le Grand Paris would be making a donation to talented children who would be future entertainers of the world. The donations are to be used for new equipment, instruments and betterment of infrastructure. The children ranged from 10 to 18 years old came from multiple backgrounds right here in Paris, displaying its unique sound. However despite their young age, they are musicians with immense talent. Hence we would like to welcome tonight's guest performance, The Parisian Youth Orchestra! Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy the music while dining or dancing with your partner."
Applause from the crowd erupted as the emcee revealed their entertainment that night. The Parisian Youth Orchestra all wore the same red uniform fully prepared with their instruments.
The conductor bowed to the audience first before turning to face the ensemble. He tapped his baton twice, then waved it in the air to start.
Everyone in attendance continued their conversations while melodic music played in the background.
Chloé widened her eyes. Right there at the first seat was none other than Luka Couffaine with his violin. She narrowed her eyes, annoyed that he didn't tell her he'd be there.
"Look! It's Luka and Juleka!" Adrien pointed excitedly.
"Who..?" Felix asked.
"The girl with a purple streak in her hair is Juleka. She's playing the cello. That's her twin, Luka. That one with the blue hair on the violin." Zoé answered. Felix thanked her curtly.
"They're really good! Right, Chloé?" Zoé turned her head towards her sister in hopes of a positive response.
Meanwhile, Chloé was busy glaring at the blue haired boy.
"Sure." She answered half heartedly.
Though, that was enough to satisfy Zoé.
Kagami nodded, "Indeed, they are very talented."
"Hey, if you guys like it, why not watch our band? It's called 'Kitty Section' and we always play at the twins' place. Our classmates always join." Adrien invited his friends.
"Woah, hold up. You're in a band?" Felix raised an eyebrow quizzically.
"Yeah, I kinda forgot to tell you?" Adrien answered sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. "I'm on the keyboard. So what do you think? You'll come?"
"I'll think about it."
"Yay! I'm so excited for you to meet my friends. There's Ivan on the drums, Luka and Juleka are on guitar and bass, and then there's Rose, our lead singer. You think you'll make it, Kagami? Chloé? We have a session this Saturday."
"Yes, I am able to attend on Saturday." Kagami said.
"I don't think it's a good idea for me." Chloé said. "Do you really think our class would be okay with me there?"
"I'm sure they'll understand!" Adrien exclaimed, ever the optimist.
"Yeah, right." Chloé scoffed. "Zoé, the class would just hate me joining, isn't that right?"
"Oh, um. I don't know about the others but--" Zoé answered.
"See, Adrikins? It's best if you drop it-"
"--I would love it if you joined us Chloé!" Zoé cut her off, expressing her genuine feelings. "Uh, I don't mind hanging out with you. I mean, of course I want my sister to join!"
Chloé blushed again. "Hah! W-who said I'd hang out with you! Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! Anyway, since you two are begging me so much I might as well entertain your stupid band!"
To hide her embarrassment, Chloé quickly excused herself and left the table. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Adrien and Zoé high five.
............................................................................
Thin, long arms slithered around her waist from behindwith ease. The familiar aroma of his sham poo surrounded her senses as he rested his head on his shoulders.
"I'm mad at you, you know?" Chloé sighed. The skinship was still welcomed nevertheless.
"Just wanted to surprise you. Don't like it?" Luka brushed his shaggy hair against her cheek.
"I'd appreciate a little warning. Would've been easier to sneak you in."
"And yet, here we are in your room anyway." Luka smirked.
"Still mad." She mumbled.
After the party ended, Chloé quickly retired to her room as soon as she bid Adrikins, Felix and Kagami goodbye. She even shooed away the maids who were supposed to help her undress under the pretense of wanting to take more photos herself.
All for this moment. To let him in through her window.
Usually it'd be Chat Noir visiting at night. However this time, it was Viperion's turn to land on her balcony.
Luka let go of his hold on her waist and turned her around.
"How shall I make it up to you, then?" He tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. "Like this?" Luka pressed a kiss on her lips.
"Yes. Definitely yes. But before that-- I want a picture of us."
"So suddenly? Why?"
"Just because," Chloé shrugged. "I know I said we should keep it a secret, but I really want some kind of memento. Something we can look back on?"
"Of course. Whether a single picture or an entire album, I'd look forward to sharing a memory with you." Luka smiled. "Although, I'm not sure you'll like my outfit."
He grinned childishly, showing off his youth orchestra uniform. It featured a red blazer and white pants.
"Oh God. So true. You look like a fucking candy cane." Chloé winced. "I'll ignore it this time. Come on, smile for the camera!"
Chloé clicked on the shutter button on her phone a few times on different poses, turned it off, then tossed it on her bed.
She hooked her arms around his neck and smirked. "Where were we?"
"You wanted a kiss?" Luka grinned back.
Chapter 12: Boyfriend, Best Friend
Summary:
Adrien proving why he's the best boi. The class notices something about Chloé.
Notes:
Hello!
Sorry for the late update and sorry it's short. As usual life is hectic. Won't go into details but very recently I had an extremely bad fever, cold and cough that lasted for a week. Skipped too many clssses because of it. Had to do a lab test while in that state (somehow getting full marks). Was late to a test but still completed it earlier than most people. As I am writing this, I just got back home at 430 am after a long drive and proceeded to help my dad cook.
Anywho, I'm trying my best to keep this fic going so I hope you are still here reading it. Regards, Mellow.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
"I'm so tired!" Marinette whined while dramatically falling on her bed.
"Oh no, Marinette! Schoolwork and superhero duties must be so hard on you.." Tikki pouted, sympathising with her holder.
"I think you should not do any patrols tonight. You look especially horrible." Orikko advised.
The kwami was right. Her hair was a mess, there were dark circles under her eyes and her skin was pale as a ghost.
She sent a quick text to Adrien informing him that she's too tired to do any patrols.
"Don't worry, malady. I can't handle things on my own. You rest up Maribug!" The reply from Adrien came fast.
Maribug. She smiled at the new nickname he gave her when they revealed their identities. It truly was like a dream come true. Their teamwork felt even smoother and they became more comfortable to discuss strategies. And as a joke, they've decided to keep their relationship a secret, just to mess with their friends.
About 10 minutes later, a knock came to Marinette's trap door that led to her balcony. When she opened it, the head of a certain black cat popped in.
"Hey Mari!" Chat Noir grinned from ear to ear. He climbed in, falling onto her loft bed.
"Adrien! What are you doing here?" Marinette, clearly surprised, whisper shouted so her parents don't hear.
"You said you were tired so I brought a little snack to cheer you up!" He said proudly, showing off the bag of treats he sneaked in.
Adrien then detransformed, allowing Plagg to say hi to the other kwamis he hasn't seen a long time. Nothing could compare to being stuck in the miraculous box of course. Still, the kwamis, having tasted so much freedom since gaining Marinette as their new guardian, enjoyed the ability to meet their friends once again.
Adrien dug into the bag of treats for Marinette's favourite sour candy. This did not distract her from the issue at hand.
"What about patrol? Adrien you can't be so reckless and abandon your responsibilities! What if something happens and we're not there to immediately fix it!" Marinette panicked, to which Adrien calmly responded.
"Relax, M'lady. I got Viperion to cover us both. I gave a brief explanation of what's going on, showed him our usual patrol routes and even went with him for 10 minutes. And then I went to see you on the way."
Marinette sighed, "Sorry for freaking out. I trust you have it all handled. Thanks for coming here, Kitty."
Pressing a kiss on his cheek, Marinette thanked him again.
"Just doing my job as the best boyfriend slash superhero partner!" Adrien gave his signature dorky grin, extremely proud of himself. He took a bite of a nougat bar, savoring the sweet sticky delite.
Marinette decided to relax, munching on the candies and chocolates her boyfriend bought for her. It still felt like a dream. The Adrien Agreste was her boyfriend.
Hers.
"Mine," Marinette thought to herself, feeling giddy all of a sudden.
"You know, I feel like revealing our identities has been our greatest decision. Why didn't we do this sooner?" Adrien spoke.
"Apparently, in a different timeline, knowing our identities caused the destruction of the world. So yeah. I guess it wasn't the right time before." Marinette replied.
"And Luka knowing is also super convenient. I mean, he's literally patrolling instead of us right now."
"Yes, but we should keep our list of 'people who know' minimal."
"I've literally never told anyone my identity. Meanwhile, you told Alya. You broke the rule you so fiercely set." Adrien joked.
"Hey! I had to! I was stressed and there was so much going on that I needed her help!"
"I know, Bugaboo. I was just joking." Adrien said softly, holding her hand to comfort her. "I'm sorry."
Marinette sighed, "I'm sorry too if I overreacted. Thanks for trying to lighten up the mood, Kitty." She leaned in to peck his cheek. "I'm so lucky to have you."
"Well, you are Ladybug, the epitome of luck herself." Adrien joked again. "Lucky you cause I'm stuck with a stinky black cat who's obsessed with cheese that needs to smell like the boys' locker room."
"Oi! I heard that!" Plagg balled his fist and waved it towards Adrien.
"I'm glad Tikki prefers sweets. It's much easier to bring macaroons than cheese I think." Marinette laughed.
"I wonder what the other kwamis like?" Adrien thought out loud.
"You could just ask us, you know." Daizzi said.
"Yeah, we're right here." Orikko nodded, flying up to Adrien with the other kwamis.
"Okay, so what do you guys eat?"
"Raw meat." Longg answered.
The dumbfounded look on Adrien's face caused all the kwamis to laugh. Despite being immortals, the kwamis have a tendency to play pranks like children.
"We weren't really picky. But now we each developed a preference after experiencing many holders in the past." Wayzz explained. "For example, I like eating seaweed."
"And I like bread. Which Marinette supplies plenty." Ziggy added.
The kwamis continued sharing their favourite foods and stories of what their past holders had fed them before. Stompp used to eat salt, now he prefers fruit. During a famine, Longg was forced to drink water only. And so on. The stories, as well as the jokes, continued until it was time for Adrien to return.
............................................................................
Marinette has the best boyfriend in the world. He's handsome, caring and attentive. He comes in late at night to check up on her while bringing snacks. And even though his slapstick humour does not entertain her, seeing him try still puts a smile on her face. And he was hers.
She wanted to shout jt to the whole world; "Adrien Agreste is my boyfriend!" But per Adrien's humourous suggestion—and the fear of his dad finding out—they decided to keep it a secret. Even if they were bad at it.
They stole glances, giggled a lot, joked around eachother and even sneaked in a few physical hand holdings. It was that different than before they were dating. Their friends barely noticed anything changing.
Chloé would say they were idiots. The whole lot of them.
"Hey Adrien! You seem to be closer to Marinette." Rose would say after Juleka took note and told her.
"Huh? Yeah. I guess I am." Adrien answered vaguely. He then winked at his girlfriend.
"You guys look totally great together. Like me and Ivan!" Mylene would add.
Marinette and Adrien would thank her for the nice comment.
"I detect a 30% of increase in their heartbeats when they are together compared to alone." Max said, using Markov to scan the pair.
"Idiots. You guys are utter idiots. Utterly ridiculous." Chloé would mumble by herself.
This situation would go on and on similarly for about a month. Until Lila finally came to school.
"Oh, stop it you guys!" Lila suddenly interrupted. "Saying those things would make them uncomfortable. They're really great friends. Of course they'd be super close!"
"Oh..." Rose's smile faltered. "Sorry, Marinette, Adrien. We didn't know you two were uncomfortable."
"Yeah, I'm so sorry we tried to make you two feel bad!" Alix said.
"Don't be, girls. We don't feel uncomfortable at all. Really. Maybe Lila should not assume our state of emotion." Marinette said through gritted teeth.
"Marinette, I was just looking out for you. I'm sorry for overstepping my bounds. I know you hate me." Lila's voice started to quiver. Here comes the waterworks.
"Oh boohoo! Marinette doesn't want to be your friend! Well that's too bad so sad!" Chloé shouted from the back row. She was NOT about to let the sausage haired bitch drag Adrikins and Dupain-Cheng down.
Then, Rose gasped so loud it overshadowed Lila's fake crying. "Chloé, did you just call Marinette, Marinette?!"
Chloé's face fell, realising the implications.
"Oh. My. God." Rose said followed by a high pitched squeal. "You didn't call her 'Dupain-Cheng' which means you guys are now friends!!! Besties even!"
"We are NOT besties!" Chloé immediately denied, her face is now red.
"But you ARE friends! This is great, Chloé! I am so happy for you!!" Rose squealed again. She ran up to give Chloé her classic tight hug.
"Ugh...." Chloé groaned, doing her best to push off the bubbly girl but ultimately failing. Oh, why didn't she think of the implications?
"Wow, I never thought I'd see the day Chloé be friends with anyone." Alya joked, nudging Marinette with her elbow. "I almost lost a bet."
Then, she turned to her classmates, "Yo Kim! Max! Alix! Y'all owe me 10 euros!" She sang.
"I should've known Marinette was the only one sunshine enough to bring down Chloé's walls! Dang it!" Kim cursed.
"Hey! What about me?" Adrien asked. "I've been her friend since kindergarten!"
"Childhood friends don't count, Adrien. We all know you are the most sunshine of them all."
"Seriously, this is literally not a big deal.". Chloé gritted her teeth, still trying to pry off Rose. "I called Dupain-Cheng by her name, is it that surprising??"
"Yes, it is." Nathaniel, who was next to her, deadpanned as he doodled in his notebook. "Might I remind you that you never remember anyone's name? You give us nicknames or just use our last names."
Max perked up, launching into a monologue. "In my theory, Chloé refrains from using our given names to distance herself from others due to her substantial pride and ego. She refers only a handful of people by their given names, i.e. Sabrina and Adrian. However, since she has unintentionally called Marinette 'Marinette' as opposed to 'Dupain-Cheng' suggests she has begun to open up and is unconsciously making herself comfortable to the usage of the given name."
"Good hypothesis, Max." Adrien gave a thumbs up.
Before Max could explain the differences between a hypothesis and a theory, Ms Bustier walks in.
"Alright, settle down class." She said. "You all seem more lively today."
"That's because we discovered something shocking." Alya raised her hand.
"Oh? And what might that be?"
"Chloé considers Marinette her friend!" Rose practically bursted with excitement when announcing that.
"How wonderful, Chloé, Marinette. It is great you've put your past aside and made up."
"As if!" Chloé groaned. She turned away, cheeks red. "This is ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous." She muttered.
In Chloé's eyes, it was absolutely ridiculous to claim that she and Baker Hirl were friends. Sure she hadn't tormented the bluenette much these days, but that doesn't mean they were chummy either. In fact, she barely spoke to the blunette.
Chloé glanced at Marinette, gauging her reaction to all of this. Marinette surprisingly seemed unbothered.
"Alright, alright. Let's continue where we left off shall we?" Ms Bustier chuckled. She dove in to the lesson of the day, continuing where she left off.

Summary:
As the title suggests
Notes:
Short chapter this time. Sorry. It felt right to stop here and not drag it on because this chapter is a transition to the next arc, kind of. Once again, writer's block taking me over but I didn't want to leave this in my drafts for too long.
I love reading comments so please do tell me what you think.
Chapter Text
Ms Bustier had a strong protective instinct when it came to her students. She'd always listen to them, help them understand their lessons, and just try to make them happy as best as she can.
She knows she can't fix everything. But she can't help but try.
"Lila, is there something wrong?" Ms Bustier asked when she heard chitters from the class.
How odd, Caline thought, Lila and Chloé have switched places again. She did notice the two exchange a few words, with Chloé visibly angry, before she entered the class.
She dismissed the change at first, seeing as they reverted to their original seating the next day. However, the same thing happened again the day after. Chloé rolling her eyes at Lila, proceeding to stomp to the back.
"Oh, it's nothing, Ms Bustier. I was just referring to Sabrina's notes. Her handwriting is so neat it makes me wonder how much effort she makes into it." Lila answered in a heartbeat.
"Well then, please keep it down for the rest of the class." Caline said with her usual gentleness. Lila managed to chirp up an apology before Caline completely turned her back.
During lunch, Caline observed her students file in the cafeteria in their usual friend groups. Marinette, Alya, Nino and Adrien at one table as usual, Alix, Ivan and Kim having a fastest eater competition while Max recorded, Mylene, Juleka and Rose at the next table joined by some girls from Ms Mendeleev's class, Nathaniel sketching alone in the corner before being joined by his friend Marc.
Usually, Chloé and Sabrina would claim a table all for themselves. This time however they were joined by Lila Rossi, who slid right next to Chloé. An odd combination, considering they've fought a couple of times before.
Ms Bustier secretly inched closer to listen to them talk. Alas, it was hard to go unnoticed by her students. Lila flashed her a smile and asked if she had lunch, to which she answered yes and took this as a sign to leave. Eavesdropping on your students is bad, Caline Bustier scolded herself.
Taking her seat in the far corner for teachers as usual, she continued observing in silence.
Minutes after Caline had passed by Chloé's table, she saw the blonde girl stand up abruptly, slinging her purse on and sauntering away. Sabrina rushed to follow her, calling out for Chloé to wait.
She could only wonder what that was about.
............................................................................
In the span of two weeks, Caline Bustier watched her classroom's atmosphere shift ever so slightly. The change she felt in her students were undeniable, but also so subtle there wasn't much she could say or do.
Firstly, Chloé started being more civil around others. A welcomed change in demeanor, of course. Albeit it was met with some skepticism from her peers. Save for Sabrina and Adrien, who were ecstatic. Even Marinette started accepting her bully. However, that does not mean Chloé stopped fighting with others. She is always exchanging mean words with Alix, Lila and Mylene.
Secondly, Caline knows that being a teen is hard but she was not expecting to see her top student so burnt out. Marinette had always been bright and kind. The Everyday Ladybug. Never hesitates to lend a helping hand, studies diligently, and is the life of the party. That's how Caline would describe Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
However the current Marinette had been dozing off in class, causing her grades to drop. Caline heard that Marinette has even been avoiding her friends, which was strange considering her extroverted nature. This has been going on for much longer, and it's getting worse every week.
The teacher made a mental note to talk to Marinette privately later.
Thirdly, friendship dynamics among classmates are not permanent. Chloé and Sabrina are still very close despite the earlier commotion involving Lila, but now with the addition of Nathanael-to Caline's surpise-who originally had been forced to sit next to the infamous blonde girl. Over time he willingly followed her just like Sabrina does.
"It's no use arguing with Chloé. Besides, it's not like she's doing anything bad. She just rambles about something she didn't like and all I have to do is sit and listen. Sometimes she buys me lunch too." Caline had once overheard Nathanael say this to his other friends. Although it concerns her that Nathanael is only interested in the free lunch, she decides that it was nothing big. Chloé Bourgeois is rich after all.
As mentioned earlier, Marinette has been avoiding her friends. This has caused discourse and distress among them. Especially Alya, who feels as though she is being neglected by her best friend. Nevertheless, the aspiring journalist was still determined to get through Marinette's walls.
Meanwhile, Rose, Mylene, Alix and Juleka have decided to give Marinette some space. In other words, they've given up. At least not entirely. They still make an effort to talk with her when they can.
Lastly, in Caline's observations, she deduced that all of this were a domino effect caused by none other than Lila Rossi.
After she transferred, Marinette's relationship with her friends detoriated. Most likely because of her claims about Lila's elaborate lies. The truth is still unclear, so Caline finds this matter hard to approach.
Ever since the incident between Lila, Chloé and Sabrina, it has been weird between them. They stopped switching seats back and forth, thankfully. It seems Sabrina has made her stance by goimg back to permanently sitting nex to Chloé. The only difference is that they were no longer at the front row. Instead, the two sat at the second fartherst row with Nathanael behind them. Lila claimed the front row with Alix. The rest remained pretty much the same.
Lila Rossi was generally well received by most of her peers. However, the more Caline watched, the more she sees the cracks in Lila's masks.
She noticed the nasty glares and cunning smirks. More importantly, she started really paying attention to Lila's stories. Now that she had time to think about it, the stories did sound a bit unrealistic. Seriously, what teenager is close friends with a foreign prince.
Caline revisited each one of Lila's tall tales and wondered if any of them were actually real.
It was also then she realised what a horrible job she was doing as a teacher.
Simply dismissing those potential lies as harmless imagination was dangerous. She saw how it's affecting Marinette's mental health, as she suspects the lack of belief from the class is sending Marinette in a spiral.
Additionally, Adrien is more vocal on his opinions of Lila, in which the rest of the class ignored like they did with Marinette. She fears he too would fall in the same spiral as the bluenette.
Truthfully, each and every one of her students are facing problems right now. Whether major or minor, Caline can't seem to figure out.
But it's nothing too bad, right? Surely Caline could talk it out with her students.....right?
Oh how wrong Caline Bustier was.
