Work Text:
Many years ago the world was watched over by an all-powerful deity. His name was Armaggon but many called him Father. He was the reason for existence and was worshipped by the people of Earth. The humans lived in peace and harmony knowing that their Father was watching over them. However, as the humans gain intelligence and move forward in technology and they utilised their free will Armaggon became restless.
Watching over the humans for many years get tiring. Especially now that as the years went by humans forgot about him. The Father no longer took pleasure from watching the humans evolve and he grew impatient.
Then the idea came to him one day. Whilst The Father was watching another civil war break out he thought to himself how things would differ if he could travel down to earth and interfere. Slight problem with that. The Father was too large to fit on earth and his spiritual power would be enough to flatten the Himalayas if he just as sneezed.
So The Father made a decision. He decided to split his body up into eight pieces. These eight pieces would have the powers of a lesser God, dividing up his spiritual energy enough to allow each piece to stand among the humans without repercussion. The Father knew that this would cease his existence. He would place his memory into each piece so that he could live on but what was the point of watching over a world that you could not interact with? The only rule that he would give his children would be that they could do whatever they wanted as long as it did not prevent humankind from progressing. They could not destroy humankind as a whole, no matter how powerful they got.
With his mind made up The Father got to work. He conjured up all his might and separated himself into eight piece. Doing this was a lot easier then he realised. First he disconnected all his limbs. Head, torso, arms, legs, hands and feet. The he removed his heart and finally he separated his spirit from these parts to become to eighth.
One by one each part began to morph into beings of their own. The separate parts started growing their own set of limbs, organs, nervous system and finally consciousness. With their Father’s memory having been planted into their consciousness from the start each knew their purpose and what they were the carry out.
The God that morph first spoke. “Before we even start to descend onto Earth we must name ourselves”
The large God shakes their head “How can we name ourselves when we do not experienced the world. All we have is Father’s understanding. The people may differ from His knowledge”
“You suggest that our Father’s knowledge is wrong? Such blasphemy for someone so young. Not even a couple minutes old and already trying to overthrow the balance.” Remarked the lanky God.
The large God flared in response bearing his mammoth like tusks at his brother.
“Enough!”
All the siblings of the Pantheon turned towards the God with cold eyes. She smiled, knowing she had obtained their attention. “I wish to make a suggestion. Father never said we had to go down to Earth together, nor did He say that we had to remain in the same location. I say that we split up and do whatever we want.” The God with the cold eyes gestures down towards the spinning world. “This is our playground. Why not makes the most of it”
The Gods looked between themselves and shrugged. No one else had a better suggestion. The First God made one last speech. “I don’t disagree with doing whatever we want but I think we should made an agreement that once every 100 years, we are to congregate and discuss what we have done in those past years”
And with that the other Gods worked out where they would meet every 100 years and for how long. With their agreement laid out and approved by all the Gods, the Pantheon was created. And as one by one they descended down to Earth at varying points the humans had no idea that Gods now walked amount them.
