Work Text:

In the quiet dark chambers of Ivaldi, the renowned blacksmith and famous dwarf of nidavellir. The night was supposed to be a time for his well earned rest.
He had always been a hard worker and now that he was a single father after Freyja left. He grew more exhausted as the days passed, eyebags very visible under his dark eyes. Despite the help from his eldest children.

Yet, his slumber was abruptly interrupted by the mischievous antics of his many children.
As Ivaldi tried to find peace in his slumber, curled up in many furs to keep him company and give him the warmth he lacked from his lover. His three youngest daughters, Sigyn, Lofn, and Sjofn, sneakily made their way into the room with gleeful giggles.

Ready to disrupt their father.

With nimble footsteps running across the stone tiled floor, they quickly leaped onto his queen sized bed, their laughter echoing off the walls.
Ivaldi, startled from his dreams, opened his eyes to see his daughters hovering over him, their faces filled with excitement even a grumpy old dwarf like him couldn't extinguish.

"What's this?" he exclaimed, acting surprised. "Have the little elves come to steal their father's dreams away from him again?"

Sigyn, the youngest and boldest of the girls, grinned mischievously down at her father. Her blonde braid hung in Ivaldi's face much to his annoyance.
"We couldn't resist waking you, pappa," she chirped. "We're too excited to wait any longer!"

Lofn and Sjofn joined in, their eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"You promised to show us the secrets of the forge," Lofn reminded him eagerly. "We want to learn!"

Ivaldi chuckled, his irritation melting away in the warmth of his children's enthusiasm.

"Ah, so eager to follow in your old man's footsteps, are you?" he teased, reaching out to ruffle up the hair on their heads.
"Well, I suppose I can't deny you that kind of pleasure. After all, I'm not like your mother!"

Across the room, Ivaldi's eldest sons and daughter, Idunn, watched the scene unfold with amusement. They exchanged knowing glances, teasing their younger siblings for their exuberance.

"Looks like the little ones have stirred up quite the commotion," one of the brothers remarked with a smirk. Idunn rolled her green eyes at him, before speaking herself.
“Bite your tongue brother, you know we were worse than them!”

As Ivaldi gathered his youngest daughters into a playful embrace, he glanced over at his eldest children with a wink.

"Let them have their fun," he said with a grin. “They're my precious little girls, isn't that right?"

“Ugh.. Of course you favour the children you had with that goddess..”

“What did I just tell you!” Idunn barks at her brother, snapping her fingers at him.

With laughter echoing through the chambers, Ivaldi's promise to teach his children the art of blacksmithing became a joyous reality, transforming a night of interruption into a cherished memory.

“Let's get you all dressed properly first, Idunn since you actually care. Mind giving your old man a hand?”

Idunn quickly switched her attention to her father, a smile forming on her lips as she glanced at her brothers. “I'll gladly aid you father, coming right away, hehe~”
She stuck her tongue out at the two older boys in front of her before walking over to Ivaldi, at his bedside. The two brothers rolled their eyes at her and the rest of their family.
