Chapter Text

How many years has it been? The many moons that have passed since I last lived a breath? I do not remember, but my eyes still live to see the changes in this new world. The trees grew around me, the animals that would sleep in the shield of the roof I laid under. Everything slowly changes but I too would change under these circumstances.

I do not remember what year it was, but non-sorcerers found my box. A box covered with curse seals that were written in blood. Nothing was fully done to open my box where my spirit would rest upon. They only locked me in another box, glass this time rather than my wooden temple I had awoken years before. Yet, I was not alone here.

Learning to speak this new language of non-sorcerers, English. I learned my new place was an ancient museum that collected ancient artifacts. I was one of them, among many curse tools, objects, and low curse spirits. Those who have been here longer told me of this place, they can roam freely but can not be seen by a sorcerer.

To this day of age, sorcerers still go after curse spirits. Now, these curse spirits live freely here in this place knowing the correct way of survival. To stay out of a sorcerer's sight and energy waves.

Oh annoying, I would stay within these walls for years. I learned more about those who worked here, mostly a little girl who took an interest in me. Not me, but the box that was displayed in the room of the most ‘dangerous’ curse. Some were false, while some like me were considered a real threat.

But this girl, she would come every other week for a whole 7 days, then leave. She would come early in the mornings until, from what I guess, her father would close this place and go home. From what I learned, her father is named Jujyio Okuna, an archeologist. Someone who searched for ancient things on the earth from years ago. I was something he had been searching for, I am not sure how he found me but kudos to this non-sorcerer.

The girl's name is Asna Okuna. I only found this out because I was wondering bout the building. I found Asna writing many words in her book including her name but I did not understand what she was writing. She was young, around 6 years old so her writing was not perfect as an adult. From then on, I would watch over the girl, not like I had anything better to do.

Many of the other curses would ponder into hurting her, but those who were there before me learned of my presence as soon as I arrived. Knowing I was Kuji-Kai, left hand and shadow soldier of the King of Curse.

Ryomen Sukuna

Years would pass and Asna would grow older and older. Until one day, she stopped coming to the museum. My days of entertainment were gone, my understanding of this world was only due to this girl. I learned about social media, phones, the internet, and transportation like flying planes, and moving cars with no need of horses.

She would always be around my display when she stayed with her father, but it was slowly turning into no days of her arrival at my display. I missed the attention a little, her eyes looking at mine unknowingly as I just stood inches away from her. Somedays, she would bring some friends, and they would poke and mess around the other objects around the place.

I knew where I stood, and everyone here knew where they stood, below me. Yet, I grew fond of not letting anything harmful happen to this place. That was when Asna would return one day but with a new group of friends. Not the same ones when she was a little younger, I believe when she was in middle school. Now in high school, her friends are different, more disrespectful. I do not tolerate disrespect towards someone weak, a non-sorcerer.

“So? Does your father own this whole place? I heard many of these things are worth millions of dollars!” A teen boy with some blond spiky hair looked around my display room. He is correct, many things in this room are worth thousands, not millions of dollars.

A group of girls walked around taking pictures of a display of a cursed tool called ‘Edgy Ler’. It was a curse tool object of a spear with a funny-looking part at the end. The girls would laugh at the tip of the spear stick, saying it looked like a ‘penis’. Another group of boys enter too, fighting and humping each other around.

I could only stand by my display, which stood in the center of the room. Asna would only be looking at the group as the blond spiky-haired dude wrapped his arm around Asna’s neck. She could only let that dude grab her so carelessly but so gently as well.

“Yeah…it’s not so fun. He would make me stay here all day.” Asna would speak so cold, felt like someone so long ago. Wonder if her coldness still lives within this earth?

The spike blond smirked then turned to my display if I were out of this box. He would be shitless to know he was staring directly into my eyes, just right behind the glass. I was getting annoyed and it was noticed by the other curse spirits that company my room. They knew to not bother me at all unless they brought an offering, something small.

“Well…what is this? An unopened box?” The spike blond brought Asna and himself over, right over the line that brought a protected distance from my box. Asna would quickly push herself back, not crossing the yellow and black line. The blond spiky teen would turn around and just shrug her off.

“It’s just a stupid box, did your father brainwash you to believe ghosts exist?” He turned right around to my display, the curse seals that were written in blood, which now only seem to be brown color writing.

Excuse me, human?! How dare he call not only me but every cursed spirit a ghost? But I forget, we are speaking of non-sorcerers here. Disgusting….

I was not sure what was going on, but my attention was on the spiky blond boy. Then I felt a presence behind me, I turned my eyes to see a cursed spirit kneeling to my feet. He was a cursed lagoon that only could point towards the humans.

My attention was so strong on the blond, that I did not realize that the lagoon curse spirit’s stone fishing hook was taken off its display. Now, another dude, a really tall muscled dude took a swing. The fishing hook went through my head as it connected with the glass. Shattering all over the floor just in a matter of seconds. Everyone stood quiet for a moment, and then the group of girls started recording.

“O M G! Chrit! You’re gonna get us banned!” One of the girls would start laughing, and the other around her would laugh along. The blond spiky teen would smirk at the criminal, Chrit. Asna on the other hand, had a worried expression, one that she knew was going to be trouble.

“Wait, no don’t grab the box. It’s a curse box, we don-” One of the other boys grabbed Asna back from stepping any further to the display. The spiky blond boy would just watch Asna start tearing up, seeing the moment of disaster to happen.

“Come on, Asna! This is just a stupid box that your father made you believe had some spooky spirit.” The boy who held Asna back laughed at her, almost mocking her scared tone.

I could only watch, my ability to do what I could do was limited due to being sealed. Only a small form of myself can leave but do nothing. So, I was excited to see where this was going, nothing that could possibly cut at least a part of the curse seal to release me.

My arms were crossed, as the blond spiky boy handled my box. He shook it as if it was a present, “Christmas” a holiday I learned that was about gifts. He tossed my small box around, hand to hand then threw it at the boy that broke the glass display.

“Catch! Don’t let the spooky ghost come out!” The blond would laugh, Chrit would throw my box into the air then throw it at one of the girls. She screamed and threw it towards another person, then another person. It was like a game of ‘hot potato’. Something Asna would play with her middle school friends so long ago.

They tossed my box around until Asna tried to take it away, this angered the blond boy. “Asna, come on. It’s not like it’s the same stupid box at school. That one that holds the “Curse God” or whatever.”

What? Wait? The “curse god” of what? That took my attention quickly, but the topic changed so quickly as the blond boy threw the box in my direction. Another dude caught it right as it went through me, which brought chills for some reason. Asna started to panic even more.

“Please, mess with anything else, just not that.” Asna jumped between the blond boy and the one who threw it. Caughting my box into her hands, which again brought chills to me. Something was off, something had just happened somewhere.

The blond boy got angry and walked over to Asna, who held my box to her chest. Something about her holding me close started to make me weak. Nothing is weaker than a lesser curse towards a greater spirit.

“Asna, you’re not being fun. Give the box, I’m going to sell it to someone.” Asna backed away from the blond boy, stepping over my broken glass display.

“That’s why you guys were so interested in my father’s workplace? Because of this?! I cannot let you.” Asna walked back, bumping into Christ and the other dudes, blocking any way of escape. The girls watched, many recording the events of what one would call ‘bullying’.

“Obviously, that box is worth around $10,000 dollars. All I had to do was get in here after dark, then steal this box. But you…You, Asna made it so easy for me to do that.” The blond spiky box grabbed Asna’s wrist and handed me my box firmly. She fought back but this angered him more, throwing her into the pile of broken glass.

My reaction was so quick, swinging my Kusarigama straight into this kid's head. Nothing happened, but something did. Though my Kusarigama was going through his head, the blond boy did feel a sudden pain. He grew so loudly but not enough that would weaken him. He started right at Asna.

“Dam freak. Is this what you're doing? What a witch you are!” The blond boy kicked Asna’s stomach, taking her breath out in one kick. Asna held the box tighter, but something was poking into my box that was causing a sting into my body. The boy started kicking Asna, I could not do anything, and neither the spirits around me could do anything.

I had no reason to ‘help’ this girl, but the years being here. Watching her grow, I wish she was mine to be in the first place. We could have watched our daughter grow like how I watched Asna grow up. But now…I could only watch like how I did so many times ago.

Asna would cry out, which made the blond boy grab her by the hair. Forcing to pull the box out of her grip, Asna fought back, bringing it close to her body. All of this was happening, no one helped, and everyone stared at Asna’s torture. I wanted to slice these children up with my kusarigama and feed them to the dogs.

“Please, Nokiu…don’t take the box” Asna's breath was gone at this point, her body was beaten and bloody from falling into the pile of broken glass. She spoke the blond boy’s name, Nokiu, surely I would enjoy haunting his generations to come.

“Too bad. I need to deliver this tonight.” Nokiu would grab the box that was deeply buried into her chest and neck. Asna turned and bit Nokiu which made him retreat, letting her fall back onto the ground with the glass.

“Fuckin’ bitch!” Nokiu shouted, then retreated to Chrit who still had the stone metal fish hook of the curse lagoon fish. Nokiu grabbed it out of his hand, going back to Asna.

“Dude, you’re not going to kill her. It’s just a box, we can just talk with the dude about it.” Chrit explained, now everyone but that one girl felt indifferent to this. Nokiu did not say a word and brought the stone mental fish hook into the air.

Asna looked up in horror and clenched the box once more. But…
