Chapter Text
Bobby sighed through his nose as Buck exited the ladder truck, a shit eating grin on his face. Like he hadn’t just stolen a firetruck for a hook up of all things.
“What if we had a call?” He questioned the kid as he came up to the kitchen.
“I was in the neighborhood,” Buck answered nonchalantly picking up some pasta with his fingers.
“Ehh, wash your hands,” Hen said smacking his hand away.
“I’m writing you up.”
“Come on Bobby see the fire, put out the fire, the rest is blah blah.”
“No Buck there are rules for a reason, the sooner you learn to obey them better for you. Two more infractions and you’re out. Go wash your hands.” He instructed firmly.
Buck frowned at him before stalking off, if Bobby was being honest, it was more of a pout. He bit back a smile, it fit Buck, even if he was 25.
“Do you really have to write the kid up Cap?” Chimney asked.
“I like the kid too Chim, but he needs to learn to follow the rules or he’s going to get himself or someone else killed. He needs to learn to think before he acts.”
“I agree Cap, but Buck doesn’t seem like the kind to learn from a write up. He needs a more hands on approach.”
“I can’t do anything else Chim.”
“Come on Cap, you never had someone use an unconventional method in bringing you up.”
Before Bobby could answer the alarm rang and they all dashed to the scene.
“Buck,” Bobby said stopping the kid from running after the baby into the hospital.
“We just saved her life; don’t we have an obligation to make sure she’s okay?”
“We’ll give the hospital a call in a couple days, and if we’re lucky they’ll tell us how she’s doing. But our job is done, now it’s time for them to do theirs.” Bobby said, hating the disappointed look on the kids face, “You did a good job today kid.”
“Thanks Bobby,” Buck said giving him a small smile.
He sighed, he hoped to hell he wasn’t going to regret this, “Look Buck if you didn’t want the infraction on your record there might be another way for me deal with this.”
“Really? You’d be willing to not write me up?”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself kid, there are still going to be consequences just not the official kind. That is if you want.”
“Please anything.”
“Come to my apartment this evening and we’ll talk about,” Bobby said getting into the truck.
Buck knocked anxiously on Bobby’s apartment door. For some reason surprised when Bobby opened the door, he half expected this to be some sort of prank. Like Bobby was tricking him about letting him off the hook for taking the truck.
Bobby looked equally surprised to see Buck standing there outside his door.
“Buck, come in,” Bobby said awkwardly opening the door fully so Buck could step inside. The inside was completely bare, Buck didn’t know what he had expected, but he hadn’t expected an empty apartment. There were no pictures of his family, or even of the team. It looked like no one even lived here. He knew the captain was a clean freak, given how serious he was about Buck cleaning up after himself, but this was a bit much even for him.
“Umm, you said that there was something I could do to not get written up. Do you want me to like help move you in or something?” Buck asked looking around for boxes or something.
“What no, I’m not going to use you for free labor Buck. Look this is an unconventional method of dealing with subordinates and I want you to know this is completely your choice.”
“Bobby, you’re kinda scaring me.”
“I’m not trying to do that,” Bobby said, “I just want to make sure that you know that this is completely your choice.” He took a deep breath, forcing himself to just say it, “I can write you up, or I could spank you.”
“You want to sp… do that to me?” Buck sputtered.
“I don’t want to, but I’m willing to if you preferred that to being written up. This is your decision, Buck.”
“What the hell man? Is this a sex thing for you? You know what Bobby, screw you!” Buck said storming towards the door.
“Buck stop.” Bobby tried but the kid didn’t listen, “Evan listen to me,” he said in his sternest voice.
Buck froze, no one ever called his by his first name, ever. Hearing Bobby say his first name in that tone made ever muscle in his body freeze.
“Thank you,” Bobby said his voice back to its normal tone, “This is not a sexual thing. Not at all. Look Buck, I was just giving you an option. My first captain preferred this method, but it was a lot more common back then. I’d never force you to choose this though, you can leave, and I’ll write you up and we can leave it at that. But I would never try to take advantage of you Buck.”
Buck nodded carefully; he trusted Bobby innately for some unexplainable reason. For some reason he believed Bobby, he believed that he wasn’t trying to get off on beating Buck. But that didn’t make it any less weird.
“I believe you Cap; I do. But can’t do this,” Buck said turning the doorknob and leaving, not looking back.
Bobby collapsed on the couch, hoping he didn’t just ruin his career for a second time.
“Seriously Buck?!” Bobby said angrily as he made his way onto the roof.
“Cap,” Buck exclaimed, trying to quickly cover himself up.
“Really? The snake hoarder?” Bobby said eyeing the woman who was glaring at him.
“Not a hoarder, a collector.” She corrected, walking back into the apartment building.
“That’s it, you’re fired.” Bobby said turning to get off the roof before he throttled the kid.
“Wait, you said I got two more chances.”
“That was before you decided to rub it in my face and do the exact same stunt in less than two days. You may not have respect for yourself or these women, but I won’t let you continue to disrespect our house or this badge.”
“Wait Bobby please, this job is everything to me. Please don’t take this away from me,” Buck said running in front of his captain.
“You did this to yourself Buck,” Bobby said pushing past the young man.
Buck drove around aimlessly, he had no place to go. He lost his job, the only thing that was important to him. Without his uniform he was nothing. He had nothing. He drove and he drove, but he didn’t get anywhere. He didn’t know how it happened, but he ended up at Bobby’s apartment complex. And by no conscious decision of his own he ended up in front of Bobby’s door. And then he was knocking before he could even stop himself.
“Buck? What are you doing here?” Bobby asked opening the door in sweatpants and t-shirt.
“I… I’m sorry just showing up like this. I just… Never mind, I’ll just go.”
“Wait Buck. What’s going on?”
“I… uhh, remember when you said that you would… you know… and then you wouldn’t write me up. Is that still an option?”
“You want me to spank you?” Bobby asked raising his eyebrows.
“No! I mean I don’t want you to, but I can live with a sore ass. I can’t live without this job Cap.”
Bobby nodded after a few moments, “Okay, but once you agree to this, we’re doing things my way, understand?”
“Yes sir,” Buck said stepping awkwardly into Bobby’s apartment.
“Grab that wooden spoon for me,” he instructed, heading towards his couch. He took a seat on the middle cushion, hoping he wasn’t making a mistake.
“You’re… you’re gonna use this on me?”
“Buck, we don’t have to do this if you don’t want.”
Buck bit his lip, “I trust you Bobby,” he said handing the wooden implement to the older man. “Do you want me over the table or…”
“Over my knee will do,” Bobby said helping the younger man settle across his lap. Buck’s chest rested on the other cushion while his legs dangled off the side, his shoes grazing the floor. “Okay Buck this is what is going to happen, I’m going to warm you up with my hand and then 20 with the spoon, do you understand?”
“Just go easy on me Cap,” Buck said hoping to cut the tension with a joke.
“No promises Buckaroo, but I do promise that I would never do any lasting damage. I need to hear that you still want to go through with this Buck.”
“It’s okay Bobby, I can take it.”
“Buck,” he said tapping the kid’s hip firmly.
“I want this Bobby; I need to be a firefighter.”
“Okay then,” Bobby said reaching under Buck to undo his belt.
“Woah woah woah,” Buck said reaching back and grabbing the top of his jeans, “What are you doing Cap?”
“This has to be done on the bare Buck, I need to see what I’m doing.”
“Please,” Buck whined.
“Kid, I said we’re going to do this my way.”
“Okay fine,” he said releasing his pants.
Bobby swiftly pulled both his jeans and boxer briefs down revealing Buck’s pale bottom, “Alright no backing out now Punk.”
When Buck didn’t say anything, Bobby took one more deep breath before bringing his hand down sharply on the fullest part of Buck’s bottom. Buck inhaled sharply from the impact, before he could even comprehend what happened another swat landed on the other side. Soon Bobby found his rhythm spanking Buck at a steady tempo, making sure to cover the entirety of Buck’s ass. He worked his way down past his sensitive sit spots to the tops of his thighs. Buck yelped as his thighs were swatted, kicking his legs to try and dissipate the pain.
“Evan hold still,” Bobby said firmly, pleased when the kid actually listened the first time.
“I’m trying,” the kid whined.
Bobby didn’t say anything back, meticulously working his way around Buck’s bottom until every square inch was a uniform shade of dark pink. Buck squirmed on his lap, trying to dodge the swats, but Bobby hit his target each and every time.
“Pop please, it’s hurts.”
“I know, you’re doing a good job kid,” Bobby praised.
The words helped with the emotional pain, not so much the physical pain. Buck was pretty sure he was never going to sit down again.
“Please Cap,” he yelped, “I’m sorry.”
Bobby was relentless though, he continued to spank Buck, his bottom now cherry red. Finishing his last circuit, Bobby rested his hand on the small of Buck’s back, rubbing soothing circles.
“You’re doing good kid, just the spoon and we’re done.”
“Please no more, I promise I’ll be good,” Buck sobbed, tears streaming down his face.
“I said you were getting twenty with the spoon and I keep my word Buck,” Bobby said steeling his heart. He hated to see his kid… the kid, he corrected. Buck wasn’t his kid, he was just a kid, a kid he looked out for. But that didn’t make him his. Regardless the kid needed to know that Bobby followed through with what he said, he knew that’s what Buck needed in the long run. The kid had probably gotten off the hook plenty with just his charming smile, but that’s not what he needed. Buck needed to know that the people he relied on were people who did what they said they were going to. Bobby was his captain, and a big part of the job was building trust with his team, he needed Buck to trust him when he said something.
With that he picked up the spoon from the side of the couch, tapping Buck’s bottom with it gently to signal that he was switching to the implement.
“Okay Buck, twenty more and then we’re all done,” he promised.
Without any more stalling on his part he brought the spoon swiftly down on Buck’s bottom. The boy yelped at the first swat, squeezing the throw pillow that had ended up in his arms. He continued to deliver the swats, tipping Buck forward slightly to give him better access to his sit spots and upper things. Buck sobbed over his lap, resigned to his fate.
“Please Papa, I’m sorry, please,” he cried breaking Bobby’s heart.
“Almost done Kiddo,” Bobby promised bringing the last five swats in rapid succession. He dropped the spoon the floor, rubbing Buck’s back soothingly.
They stayed like for a few minutes, when Buck realized he wasn’t being spanked anymore he got up quickly. Nearly falling over in the process, luckily Bobby grabbed the boy’s hips before he could trip over his own feet. He helped right the kid’s clothes, feeling bad as Buck hissed pulling his jeans up. He wanted to just wrap the kid in a hug and tell him he did good. Tell him that he was forgiven, and it was all done with.
But before he could do any of that Buck was out the door with mumbled goodbye. What had he done?
It had been a little less than a week since that night, and Buck had been on his best behavior since then. Better than best actually, he was cleaning up after dinner without being asked, taking turns on the Xbox, the kid even cleaned out the ladder truck for no reason. Bobby knew he needed to talk to the kid, he needed to explain that Buck didn’t need to do all of this.
“Buck, my office please,” Bobby called down to the floor where the kid was organizing the packs. His team oohed like they were in elementary school. Buck approached him nervously, fidgeting even more when Bobby closed the door behind him.
“What’s up Cap? Do you have something you need me to do? I could clean up the kitchen or maybe the locker room or…”
“Buck you don’t need to be doing all of this you know.”
“Is it not good enough? I can do it again.”
“No Buck you’re doing a real good job,” Bobby said noting how the small praise made the boy puff up like he had won an award, “But you don’t need to do this to get back in my good graces or anything. I didn’t get a chance to say this last week, but once your punishment is over, we’re good. Your slate is wiped clean. Now don’t go do something stupid or you’ll end up right where you were last week.”
Buck blushed brightly, remembering how less than a week ago he had been over his captain’s knee getting his ass spanked like he was five years old, “I just wanted to make it up to you for you know…”
“You don’t need to, it’s been delt with and forgotten. You’re off the hook kid, just go back to being Buck.”
“That’s it?” Buck asked in disbelief.
“What do you mean?”
“You forgive me? Just like that?”
“Buck you were punished and now it’s over. Of course you’re forgiven.”
“But all you did was spank me,” Buck said the tips of his ears burning from using that word.
“Do you want to be punished more?” Bobby asked in confusion.
“No I just… I don’t get why you’re forgiving me that easily.”
“I know what you did wasn’t easy Buck. But you are forgiven,” Bobby said holding his arms out to the boy before he could stop himself. The kid just looked like he needed a hug okay.
“What are you doing?” Buck asked raising an eyebrow at him.
“I’m offering you a hug; you deserve comfort after you’ve been punished.”
“I…”
“Just give me a hug Buckaroo,” Bobby said beckoning him with his fingers.
Buck awkwardly walked into his embrace, letting Bobby wrap his strong arms around him. For a second Bobby let himself pretend that it wasn’t Buck he was holding but his own son. He imagined that Robert he was holding. When he opened his eyes again, Buck had laid his head on Bobby’s chest his fingers playing with the back of his uniform shirt.
“I’ve never had someone hug me like this,” Buck admitted, inhaling Bobby’s masculine scent.
“You can always come to me for a hug Punk,” Bobby said, and before he could stop himself, he was pressing a kiss to the top of Buck’s hair.
They both froze for a second, neither of them able to look at each other, Buck pulled away looking down at his shoes. Bobby didn’t know what to say, he didn’t know how to apologize for over stepping.
“I gotta help Chim with that thing,” Buck said awkwardly making his escape back down to the floor.
Bobby sighed, knowing he just fucked everything up.
