I've got writers block finishing one of my older fics I've reposted to this account so what do I do? I start another fic! Genius!

Also, hardly anyone in this godamn fandom writes BottomL so I gotta do it myself 😅

Chapter 1

Summary:

Light meets L at a nightclub and when a bomb goes off he feels compelled to save the human he'd planned on making his next meal. He soon realised there is a bond between them...

Chapter Text

L scanned the packed bar and felt his heart rate pick up. He hated crowds. He hated bars too! He'd lost Naomi over half an hour ago and he honestly just wanted to go home.

‘But it will be good for you to get out, L! Maybe you'll even get laid cos God knows you need it. Come to ‘Shatter’ with me? Pleeeease?’

L scowled at the memory. Well, it wasn 't good for him to be out and he didn't need to get laid either. He was 21, a virgin with no desire to change that and  a social outcast which was just fine with him. He sure as hell didn't want to fit in with the normies, he didn't want to fuck anything with a pulse like everyone his age seemed to want and he didn't want to bloody be in a bar in the first place!

From the corner of his eyes he saw someone looking at him but paid no attention. He wasn't interested and if they made a move on him he'd be more than happy to kick them between the legs.

He felt a strange sense of dizziness. He hadn't drank much, only a few beers so he certainly wasn't drunk. L shook his head to dispel the feeling, completely unaware he was being watched intently.

L decided enough was enough. He wasn't going to waste any more time looking for his friend (and now that he thought about that, he still had no idea how he'd become friends with the pretty and popular Naomi Missora in the first place) and would just go back to their flat and chill out with some ice cream and a boxset. L decided he'd watch Breaking Bad again since it was a classic.

Naomi had probably pulled some hottie so he doubted she'd missed him. He was pulling out his phone to book an uber when he felt a strange sensation.

The hairs stood up on the back of his neck and he felt a twist deep in the pit of his stomach. Instantly, he was alert. He looked around himself, not seeing anything of concern but knowing better than to disregard his instincts.

Something bad was going to happen. He needed to leave.

He turned around and was about to head for the exit when a strange muted BOOM rang in his ears. He felt it in his bones and he was thrust forward, a cry wrenched from his throat as he bodily collided with another party goer.

He saw a flash of auburn hair and then he felt a pull. Was the person pulling him? Why?

L was dazed as he fell on top of the person. The person flung him beneath him so he was shielded as strange objects rained down around them. L couldn't move a muscle. The person, a guy, he thought, was shaking his shoulder.

“Can you hear me? Are you alright?”

Definitely a guy, and the one who was looking at him earlier too! And now that L thought about it, the guy had a nice voice. And a nice chest and, now that he was aware of it, a rather big…appendage was nudging against his hip…

Why was he thinking things like that ? He'd never paid attention to such things before. Maybe it was because the guy was literally on top of him?

L struggled to open his eyes and looked into two concerned, stunning amber eyes and felt his breath catch in his throat. The guy he was lying under was easily the most beautiful person he'd ever had the good fortune of seeing. His beauty was so striking even he couldn't look away. L wondered if he was a model or an actor.

“I…what?” L muttered, still dazzled, “What?” he couldn't hear properly. What on earth had happened? Was the man talking to him? His ears were ringing and was that people screaming?

The amber eyes burned into his and L stared back into them, confused at the warmth he felt spreading through his body. Those eyes seemed unnatural and otherworldly but he couldn't look away.

“I think a bomb went off. I managed to pull you away from the worst of it but it seems you're pretty dazed” the amber eyed adonis said slowly and carefully. He reached down and tilted L’s head to examine the trickle of blood coursing down his temple. A shrapnel wound, nothing serious.

The stranger gently pushed off of him and climbed to his feet and, with a show of strength that surprised L, grabbed his arm and lifted him up as if he weighed nothing more than a feather.

L blinked at the stranger, swaying on his feet so badly the man had to steady him. People were screaming and something was on fire. People were lying on the floor and there were blood splatters and…red, mushy bits of people …?

“Come on, you were looking for your friend, weren't you? She's alright, she was outside when it happened and she's looking for you now” the stranger explained, giving his arm a tug, “Come with me, L, you're safe”

L’s brain was too sluggish to catch up. If he had been thinking normally he would have instantly been alarmed because how would the stranger know what he had been doing? And how would he know his name?

L could do nothing but stumble after the tall, auburn haired man as he led him through the carnage and up the stairs of the club. The night air hit his face and L felt dazed all over again.

He heard a distant wailing. Sirens? He leaned back against a wall and tried to centre himself.

“Hey, look at me”

L felt compelled to obey and opened his eyes, looking up at the gorgeous man. He had the absurd desire to tell him he loved him.

‘What's going on with me?’ L thought, ‘I must have taken one hell of a whack to the head to be thinking such shit’

“You have a concussion. Let's go and sit down and when the medical team arrives you can be checked out. I'm Light, by the way”

L blinked at ‘Light’. Yes, the name suited him perfectly with that golden skin, those amber eyes and that red/gold hair. Light was indeed…light.

The thought made him giggle.

Light’s brows furrowed. The giggle made his stomach flutter and it made him feel…something strange. It made him feel attracted . Humans weren't supposed to do that to him , it was quite the other way around!

‘What's going on with me?’

In all honesty he'd picked the black haired human because he'd been drawn to his eyes and the intelligence he'd seen in them. A quick glimpse into L Lawliet’s psyche, just a touch into his mind, had the Incubus intrigued. This young human was different from his usual quarry. A virgin too (his absolute favourite!) which was something of a rarity these days. L Lawliet was just the type of human he enjoyed best. Clever, too clever really, and something of a lost soul.

He hadn't planned on killing this one, sensing there was something special and pure about him, but he'd definitely been interested in toying with him and draining some of that lovely energy. He'd been approaching the mortal to ensnare him when the bomb went off.

Now though… Light cleared his throat, feeling overwhelmed. Now it seemed he had some sort of attachment to the human. He'd saved him on instinct. If he hadn't pulled L into his arms and shielded him the human would have been nothing but blood and mush on the floor like the others who were unfortunate enough to be in the initial radius of the petrol bomb.

Light had felt compelled to save him, driven by some deep, dark force he didn't understand and had moved before his brain could even comprehend what he was doing. He could feel a bond between them, small though it was, and it troubled him deeply almost as much as it excited him.

He'd heard about the myths and legends of connections forged between Humans and Demons before but it simply didn't happen anymore in this modern age. Humans no longer feared Demonkind, they had no faith or fear in the world beyond them and they were no longer superstitious like they once were. Humans feared one another now (and with good reason, Light thought sagely, now they had bombs to go along with their penchant for hurting one another)

If it wasn't for the books Light had read he'd consider such a thing a myth. Humans were prey, afterall, not mates. But he'd read about such bonds. Some special humans were fated to be mates to Demons. Or they had been, in times long ago.

The few Incubus and Succubus Light had met over the years had all, with varying degrees of success, accepted they were just like the mortals and they too would die one day because bonding didn't happen anymore. Some of them had died. They'd starved themselves and abstained from stealing human lifeforce and had faded away to ash to end their torment.

Light had understood their reasons, even if their deaths had saddened him. He'd assumed, oneday, that would be his own fate too. He didn't want to live forever in this human world with no one beside him. Forever was simply too long of a time. He'd always wished for a mate of his own but he was too much of a realist to expect it to happen.

Bonding between Humans and Demons hadn't happened since the 1600’s (at least, that was the last Demon/Human bond that had been recorded that Light had read) and yet…

It had happened now. It had happened to him.

Now that he concentrated on it, he could feel L Lawliet’s energy within him. He could feel the bond between them, a small seed, but germinating and growing with each second that passed. Its energy was soothing to the Demon. the more he focused on it, the calmer he felt.

It was something thoroughly unexpected and marvellous and Light found himself taking a minute to just sense the humans energy. He was careful not to take any, the Human wouldn't be able to cope with such a thing in his current state and the bond between them forbade Light from harming him.

“Thank you for saving me, Light” L said quietly, finally feeling a little more like himself as the minutes passed.

L gave the handsome stranger a soft smile. ‘I think I could fall for you’ he thought, amused at himself for thinking such a thing. Knowing his luck, the guy was straight. Or even if by some miracle he was gay L doubted he would be his type.

He doubted he was anyone’s type, to be honest.

Still… he felt safe around Light. He owed the man his life. He hoped…tentatively, maybe they could be friends?

Light swallowed thickly at the soft look the human gave him. Those big, grey eyes were staring straight at him.

They looked like galaxies. He felt ensnared.

How did predators get ensnared by prey?!

‘Fuck’

L woke up a few hours later in the hospital. He felt thirsty and tried to remember what had happened.

The events came rushing back and his eyes widened. Where was Naomi? Where was the man who'd saved him?

Light ..

“Easy” Naomi soothed, pushing L back gently against the pillows, “It's okay, L, we're here”

We're here?’

L looked around and found himself sagging with relief at the sight of Light sitting near his bed. He couldn't understand it, he didn't know the man at all but he felt immediately reassured and calm just looking at him.

Was it because he had a crush on him? He'd had a crush on a few people when he was younger but he'd never felt like this before. L didn't believe in love at first sight or such nonsense as that. Obviously Light just had this calming energy about him like some people did. Light was attractive, of course, but he'd also bravely protected him without fearing for himself. That was deeply admirable in L's opinion. Maybe that was why he felt so relaxed around him?

“Hey, L, how are you feeling?” Light asked, probing just a little at the human's mind. L was happy he was there and L felt reassured by his presence. Most humans felt relaxed and happy when they were in close proximity to an Incubus or Succubus. It was their natural allure that drew their prey to them and made them walk willingly into their arms to be drained of their lifeforce.

Light pushed that thought aside. He'd find a human to drain later. Right now, he needed to figure out how he was going to adapt to having a human mate and to make sure his mate was okay.

“I'm…fine” L rubbed at his head and frowned as he felt the bandage, “My head hurts though”

“I'm so sorry I wasn't downstairs. I saw a friend and we were having a smoke outside. Naomi's dark eyes glistened with tears, “So many people died, L, over 20…”

L swallowed hard. He was grateful to have a sore head. Things could have been so much worse.

“Why did you save me, Light?” L asked quietly, “You could have been killed”

Light considered his response carefully. He couldn't tell L the truth, it would be too much for him to take in, particularly after the traumatic event he'd just endured, and he'd probably be shipped off for a psych evaluation if he told L that actually, a sacred and arcane bond had been forged between them and they were soulmates. No, he'd have to be careful about what he said and did until he had done some research into the bond between them. For now, L had to continue believing he was a human.

“I don't really know” Light finally replied, using his allure to keep L's attention fixed on him, and mixing in some truth since he didn't really know why he'd saved L initially,“I suppose I just felt I had to. I didn't put much thought into it”

“I see. So you're just very brave and a bit stupid then” L said before realising what he'd actually just said. His grandfather was right, his people skills were beyond rusty. Apart from Naomi and Quillish he really didn't hang out with anyone and he worked as a PI online so he didn't even have work colleagues either…

Naomi snorted and shook her head. “Way to go, L” she muttered under her breath. Honestly, anyone with a brain could see Light was into him. She was damned if she was going to let her socially awkward friend fuck this chance up, “What L meant to say was he definitely owes you a few drinks. Maybe a nice meal too…”

Light raised an eyebrow at the girl. She was a sassy and bold little thing and he liked that.

“Oh? Well, once he's up and on his feet again I'd love to if L is agreeable to it” Light purred, his gaze fixed on L's (wide and panicked) eyes

“What… with… me?” L spluttered uselessly, brain effectively short circuiting at the prospect of taking Light out for a meal.

“Yes" Light sat back in his chair, enjoying the awkward human's shock because it was kind of adorable, “I enjoy steak, What about you?”

“Uh…”

Naomi rolled her eyes. “L eats too much sweet stuff so a steak would do him good good. Wouldn't it, L? Protein. Building blocks of life and all that”

L raised an eyebrow at Naomi as the penny finally dropped. The bitch was setting him up on a date!

“I… guess I don't mind steak” L admitted slowly, “Uh, you don't have to go with me if you don't want to though.  Ignore her, she's been trying to get me laid for 2 years with no success”

Naomi closed her eyes. ‘Filter, L?’

Thankfully, Light seemed more amusemed than put off, “Oh really? Well, she sounds like a good friend to you and I am very glad to have met you both and I would be very interested in going out to dinner with you, L”

L opened his mouth then closed it, words failing him. He'd nearly been blown up by a bomb, been rescued by the world's Hottest guy who now wanted to go out on a date with him?

“Fucking say yes you idiot” Naomi hissed while leaning in to fluff L's pillows.

“Yes. Okay” L said belatedly, still not quite believing that such a thing was actually happening.

Light gave L a sunny smile, “Great. Can I have your number?”

Naomi immediately whipped out her phone and handed it to Light. She'd brought L's number up in seconds.

L gave her a sour look. He was more than capable of giving the hot man his own number, thank you very much.

Light added the number to his phone and stood up, “Thank you, I'm looking forward to it. Now I know you're okay I'm afraid I really have to go. Work has been after me. Please feel free to text me whenever you like, L. It was very nice to meet you both”

Naomi beamed at Light, thoroughly charmed and impressed by his manners and his easy going grace. Light Yagami was the perfect match for her moody friend, she was certain of it. All she needed to do was just give him a little push and the rest would be history! If anything, the prospect of L getting a date out of such a traumatic event was at least a small silver lining. She didn't even want to think on what had happened At the bar yet and was doing her best to block it out (something she knew wasn't a particularly healthy coping mechanism)

L felt a little sad as he realised Light was leaving but forced himself to smile. He was being ridiculous. “I will text you soon, and thank you, Light”

Light took one last lingering look at his human before leaving the room.

He had a lot of reading to do before he met L Lawliet again and he was ravenous. As he was walking down the corridor he caught the eye of a nurse.

She was a redhead, mid 20's and wasn't particularly discreet about eyeing him up. Light gave her a warm smile and ordered the woman to follow him with nothing more than a touch to her mind.Without a word, he turned and walked into the nearest toilet and waited for her to follow.

She did, her eyes misty and her mind filled with the desire to do everything the amber eyed man wanted.

Light closed The door behind them and pressed her up against the wall. Her breath was shuddering with desire.

Light had had better meals, but he was feeling rather low on energy.

She'd do.
