This can be read as either plantonic or the most vanilla romance ever written. I know it's not Ralfus but c'mon, other ships deserve some love!

Work Text:

Ah, Golden University, a magnificent and ethereal campus, glowed under the celestial light. It was a place where the brightest young angels and devils honed their skills to become guardians. Among them, Gabi stood out as a passionate and inventive student in the angelic sciences, always pushing the boundaries of what was possible.

Gabi had always been fascinated by technology and its potential to assist in the duties of a guardian angel. His dormitory room was a testament to this passion, cluttered with gadgets, blueprints, and half-finished inventions. Today, however, he was unusually excited. A famous angelic inventor, Azrael, was visiting the university to give a lecture and tour the classes, offering advice to the students. For Gabi, this was a golden opportunity to showcase his latest creation: a teleportation machine that could revolutionize the way guardian angels operated. He is especially excited since Azrael has always envisioned to help facilitate the guardian angel job, the same thing that Gabi always wanted.

Gabi had been working on this project for months, and now, with Azrael's visit just days away, he was determined to perfect it. The teleportation machine was his pride and joy, a complex device designed to instantly transport angels across vast distances. Gabi believed it could be a game-changer for guardian angels, allowing them to respond to emergencies with unprecedented speed.

As the news of Azrael's visit spread, the entire university buzzed with excitement. Gabi, however, was laser-focused on his project. He spent every waking hour in the lab, fine-tuning the machine, testing its components, and making countless adjustments. He was driven by a single goal: to impress Azrael and prove that his invention could make a difference.

Days blurred into nights as Gabi labored tirelessly. His best friend, Raf, a fellow student majoring eternal biology, watched with growing concern. Raf knew how much this project meant to Gabi, but she also knew the toll it was taking on him. She would visit him in the lab, bringing food and gently reminding him to take breaks, but Gabi's determination left little room for rest.

On the third night, Gabi was hunched over his workbench, his eyes heavy with exhaustion, but his spirit unyielding. Raf entered the lab, her arms laden with sandwiches and a thermos of hot tea.

"You're pushing yourself too hard. You need to rest. What good will it do if you're too exhausted to present your work?"

Gabi managed a weak smile. "Just a little longer. I promise I'll take a break after I finish this adjustment."

Reluctantly, Raf nodded and left him to his work. She knew Gabi well enough to understand that once he set his mind to something, it was nearly impossible to sway him. But she couldn't shake the feeling of unease as she left the lab that night.

The following morning, Raf went straight to the lab, her worry intensifying with each step. She found Gabi lying unconscious on the floor, his tools scattered around him. Panic surged through her as she rushed to his side, shaking him gently.

"Gabi! Gabi, wake up!" she cried, her voice trembling.

When he didn't respond, Raf hurriedly summoned help. The university's medical team arrived and quickly transported Gabi to the infirmary. Raf followed closely, her heart pounding with fear.

Hours later, Gabi awoke in the infirmary, his vision blurry and his body aching. The first thing he saw was Raf, sitting by his bedside, her eyes red from crying. She looked both relieved and angry as she met his gaze.

"Raf?" he croaked, his voice weak.

She wiped away a tear and leaned closer. "You're awake. Thank goodness."

Gabi tried to sit up, but his head spun, forcing him to lie down again. "What happened? Did I… did I pass out?"

Raf nodded, her expression a mix of relief and frustration. "You pushed yourself too hard, Gabriel. You need to take care of yourself. You scared me."

Gabi reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. "I'm sorry, Raf. I didn't mean to worry you."

Tears welled up in Raf's eyes again. "I understand, but you need to rest now. You can't do this if you're not well. Promise me you'll take a break."

Gabi hesitated, torn between his desire to continue working and the concern in Raf's eyes. Finally, he nodded. "Okay. I'll rest. I promise."

Raf breathed a sigh of relief and leaned in to kiss his forehead. "Thank you."

Gabi spent the rest of the day recuperating, his mind still buzzing with ideas for his teleportation machine. As much as he wanted to return to the lab, he knew Raf was right. He needed to be at his best when Azrael arrived.

The next day, feeling somewhat stronger, Gabi returned to the lab with Raf by his side. He was anxious and jittery, his thoughts racing as he made final adjustments to the machine.

As they worked, the door to the lab swung open. Gabi's heart leaped into his throat as he saw Azrael enter, accompanied by Arkhan, the head of the angelic sciences department.

Gabi's nerves got the better of him, and he found himself unable to speak. Raf stepped in, her voice steady and reassuring.

"Mr. Azrael, this is Gabi's latest invention," she said, gesturing to the teleportation machine.

Azrael approached the machine, examining it with keen interest. "Impressive".

Gabi's cheeks flushed with pride and relief. "Thank you, sir. I've worked very hard on it."

Arkhan, standing beside Azrael, beamed with pride. "Gabriel is one of our best students. His dedication and creativity are unparalleled."

Azrael nodded approvingly. "I can see that. Keep up the good work, Gabriel. I look forward to seeing this machine in action someday."

With that, Azrael and Arkhan continued their tour of the university. Gabi watched them go, his heart soaring with a mix of relief and excitement. He turned to Raf, his gratitude evident in his eyes.

"Thank you, Raf. I couldn't have done this without you."

"Don't thank me yet." Raf smiled and leaned in, kissing him gently on the cheek.

Gabi blushed deeply, his face turning as red as a tomato. Raf's laughter echoed softly in the lab, and for the first time in days, Gabi felt truly at peace.
