Work Text:
It was way past midnight when Makoto finally reached Tatsumi Port Island again. It was a long way from Inaba but he didn’t mind it. He spent his winter vacation with his friends sightseeing so it felt nice to be back home. Or atleast what was closest to home to him.
He was staying in a new dorm this year though since his friends had dragged him to live with them.
He looked at the nameplate and read, ‘Velvet Dorms’. This was the place. He walked in.
The first thing he saw was a man with chestnut coloured hair and red eyes at what he presumes is the front desk registry. He greeted Makoto with a nod. “Akira, he’s here.” The man called out.
He heard rustling from the couch and was greeted with a black haired man with glasses askew on his face, presumably just woken up from a nap.
“Hello there.”
He smiled and walked up to Makoto. He was wearing an oversized shrug that went down to his back with a black vest, white shirt and black slacks. He didn’t know if the man was trying to be comfortable or not but he pulled it off nonetheless unlike Chestnut Man (in his defense, Makoto didn’t know anyone other that Naoto who could pull off an Argyle sweater)
”Welcome to the Velvet Dorms. You must be Makoto san.” Makoto nodded. “I’m Akira. And this is my partner Akechi.” Akechi nodded with a pleasant smile Makoto instinctively knew was fake. In fact, both of their smiles didn’t reach their eyes. Whatever.
“I’ll show you to your room.” Akechi volunteered.
“Okay.” Makoto responded.
Makoto’s room was on the second floor at the end of the hallway.
“This will be your room. Here are the keys.” Makoto rolled his lone suitcase in and saw that the rest of his belongings had already arrived in boxes. “Breakfast is at 7 but if you don’t show up Akira will keep it in the fridge for you, but please don’t make that a habit, and I’ll explain the rules to you tomorrow. You must be tired.”
“Just a little.”
“Okay then. Good night.”
Akechi sighed. Knowing how the rest of his night was going to go. And just as he had suspected, he found Akira deep in thought in the kitchen, looking at ingredients like they were going to murder his family.
“The carrot’s innocent, you know.” Akechi commented, Akira looked up and smiled at that.
“I don’t know if Makoto san has any allergies. Should I just stick to cereal tomorrow?” Akira frowned.
“Convenience isn’t a sin, Akira. Cereal is fine for the first day. Besides, wouldn’t Yu or Junpei had told something if he did have any life threatening allergies.”
Akira sighed, “Fine. Cereal it is.” Akira paused, “So what do you think his favourite cereal-”
“You need sleep. I’ll take the first shift of the night watch.” Mother hen.
“Fine~” Akira stretched. He’d been nervous all day about the newcomer.
Akira and Akechi owned the dorm legally but they’d only had three tenants so far. Yu, Junpei and Akihiko. That’s how it’s been since Akira was a second year in highschool. But now after two years of established harmony, they expanded and added more rooms so they had space to accommodate new people. First of which being Makoto Yuki, a Third year Architecture major who is friends with the rest of the three tenants.
Something about how they met during an inter school meet, the details are vague to Akira.
“Go get sleep. You’ve been a vibrating poodle all day.” Akechi smirked at the annoyed look Akira gave but he did go to bed. Akechi was worried if this was going to be his reaction to every new tenant. He was not looking forward to having more.
