Chapter Text
"it's cold."
something mutters at miorine from the dark. mewl , more like. a sad , and pathetic sounding noise.
she wonders if she should go poke at it. it's probably not worth the risk of getting mauled , but miorine supposes it'd be better than rotting away in the cell. the dark and damp cell. she barely remembers what she did to get here , anyways. miorine vaguely remembers a garden- and that's about it. not that she had much of a life before that , anyways.
it's suprising how she didn't notice the .... well , she's not sure what it is.
she crawls over to the source of the noise. her heart is pounding.
"can.... can you hear me?" miorine tries to put on her best impression of a good , normal person.
she hears something scrape on the ground as the creature turns towards her.
the first thing she notices as the light from the outside illuminates the creature-
is it's eyes. like seaglass. the smell of salt on the wind.
it(?) stares at miorine like a dog looking at someting it's supposed to fetch. miorine isn't sure if she's supposed to be panicking. acting on some strange notion of "instinct" , miorine reaches her dainty hand out.... and pets it.
the creature mewls into her touch , "hUH?!?!??!" her brain vaguely reminds her , but somehow , she doesn't mind the flea ridden thing rubbing into her hand. it's hair is soft , and red , and seems to be healthy despite it seemingly being in here for ages.
it then pulls away after a few seconds , panting somehow. it's stuttering and bumbling and miorine can barely make out what the hell it's saying.
"hey , hey- " she says , in her best impression of someone comforting their friend , and sets her hand on it's back , gently rubbing circles.
"just breathe for me , alright?" her tone is smooth and soft - and a little bit forced. the creature immediately relaxes , tensed up muscles loosening (how the hell do you have muscles when you're fed prison slop???).
it then raises it's head up , and stares miorine in the eyes . it's pupils dilate into the sizes of coins (how the hell are your eyes so big?). "my name is , uhm," it looks like it's digging through every memory in it's pretty little head.
"suletta mercury," it stumbles out after a few seconds.
okay , so it turns out that the "creature" lurking in the dark is a girl (and a cute one at that). maybe being arrested for something you don't even remember isn't that bad after all.
