Throughout Heaven and Earth

Summary:

In a moment of weakness, Satoru Gojo curses Suguru Getou.

As Suguru lay crumpled against the brick wall of this grimey alley, his breath labored and short as blood steadily gushed from his wounds, Satoru was filled with undeniable grief.

Grief for the loss of his former best friend but also for who they could have been.

“I love you.” Were the only words Satoru could choke out as he watched his best friend, the love of his life, begin to die.

Suguru angled his lidded eyes towards Satoru, where he crouched beside him, before coughing harshly, blood dribbling down his chin,

“Curse me then.”

Or,
Gojo curses Getou rather than killing him, changing the entire plot line of JJK post JJK0. I love angst, slightly religious themes, and the macabre.

Chapter 1: Rebirth

Chapter Text

Without needing to see under Satoru’s blindfold, he knew his eyes widened in realization. He didn’t need to kill Suguru, to put him out of his misery and fulfill his duty of executing him, he could be reborn into a being untouchable by all others.

Into a special-grade curse.

It was foolish. Cursing the world's most notorious and powerful curse user, one determined to eradicate all non-sorcerers at that, into possibly the most powerful being second to Sukuna Ryomen.

But Satoru did it anyway.

As Suguru’s eyes began to fully close and his breath began to slow, Satoru reached out and grabbed his beloved’s hand into his own. Pressing a chaste kiss into his bloodied palm, Satoru murmured his curse,

“Love is the most twisted curse of all. I am sorry that I didn’t realize you were suffering before you left and that I let this become of us. I want us to be together forever, always have, and always will. I love you Suguru, stay with me.”

The dregs of the battle between Suguru Geto’s curse army and Yuto Okkostu continued in the near distance. As Rika Orimoto, the Queen of Curses, was freed from her curse and returned to the afterlife, Suguru Geto was reborn.

Suguru did not think dying would be this painful. He just got his arm blown clean off by the Queen of Curses and is now bleeding out in an alley, but he still did not think it would hurt this badly.

It’s probably because Satoru had to witness it.

They always knew that Satoru would kill Suguru. Ever since the higher-ups put the bolo on Suguru’s head when he defected Satoru was tasked with executing Suguru. He was at peace with it, he always wanted to die by his love’s hands.

That didn’t change how much it hurt though.

Suguru used the last moments of his life to hear Satoru’s confession turned cursing. He could barely register the words over the growing buzz in his ears and the rapidly slowing thrum of his heartbeat. He couldn’t see anymore, his vision completely blurred over and covered in his own blood, but he could still make out Satoru’s figure beside him clutching onto his own remaining arm.

He watched as the love of his life reached over, still clutching his hand, and placed his palm over his heart. As he breathed his final breath, something pierced his heart.

Suguru Geto died at the hands of Satoru Gojo.

Suguru didn’t know exactly where he went. This didn’t feel like the afterlife, he was definitely still existing, rather than rotting away in a hell he definitely deserved. He was surrounded by darkness, a thick shadow that filmed over his surroundings, as if he had his eyes closed tightly while in a crowded room.

There were no noises at first, just his own thoughts, until he heard his heartbeat start up again. It fluttered quietly until it grew into a steady roar that thrummed in his ears. His breath returned, his chest constricting with each inhale and collapsing with each exhale.

He had never felt so alive.

Gradually, the dark film began to fade away to reveal his surroundings. The shadows retreated as the sun’s light began to swarm his vision. It was exactly like how movies depict dying or passing on into the afterlife, going into the light. He passed through it slowly but easily.

As Suguru entered the light, he felt his body form. Bones snapped back into place or were replaced entirely. His flesh patched itself back together, healing his wounds, and replacing his missing arm. His body completely reformed, but into something new.

Suguru didn’t have much time to think about it before he was thrusted back into the alleyway he just died in. He stood on solid concrete, facing the brick wall he just saw before losing his vision. The exact spot he just died in.

He gasped, sucking in his first breath. The world felt so bright, like he was looking at it for the first time, and he never thought it’d look so beautiful.

He was reborn.

Satoru watched wide-eyed as ink began to bleed from Suguru’s body. It was wispy, somewhat translucent ink, that could only be described as the darkest of shadows. It oozed from his wounds and pores like blood or sweat, pooling towards the center of the alleyway. It ignored gravity as it floated into this one spot, forming a large inky void where his blood once was.

He let go of his beloved’s dead hand as the puddle began to grow, threatening to touch and consume him. Satoru was forced to take a few steps back as a significant chunk of the alleyway was replaced with inky, rippling, blackness.

It only took a few moments for all the ink from Suguru to flood into this pool. At first, it looked like it would remain this way as it gently rippled in the wind, but was otherwise completely still.

Suddenly the pool began to bubble as wisps of shadow began to rise. They spiraled into an irregular stream as what appeared to be a humanoid creature began to form.

It began at the feet before moving up to the legs. What appeared to be Suguru’s old uniform boots from his time serving the Academy covered them quickly. Suguru was being reborn into a curse right in front of Satoru.

He could only gape in awe as his best friend began to take shape in front of him.

Gradually, his abdomen and torso began to reform. The shadows shifted and flowed to replicate his past body. With it, a deep purple kimono began to cover him. Each layer was almost as dark as the shadows themselves, but were starkly violet compared to them.

‘Just like Suguru’s favorite color.’

A dark black obi cinched his waist as his torso completely materialized. His arms quickly followed suit before being covered by the long, flowing, sleeves of the kimono. They hung so low, they were almost grazing the bloody concrete. They did not fully obscure his hands, which ended in talon-like fingers the same dark black as the shadows.

The kimono was adorned in embroidered spirals of wind like the clouds in a Vincent Van Gogh painting. They covered the bottom half of the kimono and the ends of each sleeve. It was embroidered in various shades of a soft purple and white, a starkly beautiful contrast to the deep purple fabrics of the kimono. Saturo did not get much time to admire the beauty of the kimono before Suguru’s neck and head began to reform.

Slightly pointed ears and inky black skin, the same hue as the shadows he was reborn from, had replaced Suguru’s human features.  His hair cascaded down his back, the same dark color as before, and in the exact same hair style. Instead though, strands of hair defied gravity and floated against his back, as if he were underwater.

His eyes were completely white, lacking any iris or pupils, like a pearl in the inky darkness of the deep ocean. White freckle-like dots scattered over his skin like closely placed constellations, which rapidly appeared all over his visible body.

You’d think that Satoru would find Suguru to be a hideous monster, born out of the anguish and pain of a love cut too short, but Suguru was just as beautiful to Satoru as back when he was alive.

Suguru sharply gasped as his body completely formed, like his soul snapped into place when the final eyelash regrew from his eyelid. He stumbled slightly as he got used to standing on his feet again. He just went from floating in nothingness to standing back where he just died within less than a minute.

Satoru could only watch in awe as his love returned back to him. He was stumbling around like a newborn deer, but he could ignore that as he looked adorable doing it. He could only stare and admire the details of Suguru’s new form.

Suguru sharply turned towards Satoru when he realized he wasn’t alone. His white eyes widened as he made eye contact with the man who cursed him. A wide grin grew on his face before darting towards Satoru.

Oh my god, he’s got FANGS.’

Was the only thought he could process before Suguru crashed into him. The curse’s arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders as his face nuzzled up into his neck. Regardless of the changes done to his physique, he was still shorter than Satoru.

Satoru choked out a sob as he wrapped his arms around Suguru’s torso, pulling him tightly to his chest. He tucked his face down to his love’s shoulder, desperately trying to hide his anguish from the new curse, which ended up being in vain.

The pair hugged in silence, only occasionally being broken by a muffled sob from Satoru. Suguru rubbed circles into the top of Satoru’s back, desperately trying to calm his lover once he heard his tears.

“It’s okay, I’m back now.”

Suguru’s voice didn’t sound right. It was choppy and sounded like it was run through an old microphone; like an old recording of Suguru’s voice rather than his own.

That didn’t matter to Satoru though. He tightened his hug and raised his blotchy, tear-covered face, from Suguru’s shoulder.

“I thought I lost you.” His voice was garbled, due to the onslaught of tears still running down his face.

Suguru released the hug only to immediately press his palms against his lover’s cheeks. He wiped away his tears before placing a chaste kiss on Satoru's lips.

“I’m not going anywhere.”
