Wait, I'm in WHAT?!?!

Summary:

What if, today on this special day, Sunnie somehow wakes up in a different place?

Work Text:

When Sunnie woke up, she felt weird. She didn't feel the soft mattress of her bed nor the cool air from her airconditioning.

Instead, she felt a sharp grass tickling her neck, and the feeling of hard rocks under her body. She's forced to open her eyes to the harsh warm rays of sunlight on her eyelids.

Even while sleepy, she feels greatly confused by the scene that greeted her. What on earth? She was supposed to be in her bedroom! SHE LITERALLY HAD CLASSES IN A FEW HOURS!

She starts to panic, looking around the bizarre pixelated landscape. What is this? Why is everything around her pixelated? Why is her HAND pixelated too?!? And that's not the worst part. Sunnie, for some reason, is now FLAT! No, not flat-chested. Flat, as in, A TWO DIMENSIONAL CHARACTER!!! She really must be in some intense delulu mode or something right now.

She stands up, looking around for some clues. After a few minutes of walking, she realizes that her surroundings look incredibly familiar. Heck, it actually looks like a game that she and Eo played. If she were to name it, she'd say that the world she's in right now is the world of Terraria.

Honestly at this point, she has no idea what's happening. It doesn't make sense in reality at all. It seems like she's in a game of sorts, but REALLY? The best possible explanation right now is that, for some reason, she ended up being isekai-d. But that is absurd. Who on earth ACTUALLY gets isekai-d in reality?!?!? (Answer: Sunnie, it turns out)

Well, she supposes. At least she can use her inventory and map too, despite that not making sense. On her map, she notices a small character icon besides herself. Since she's in this weird situation with no other idea on how to proceed, she just decides to go meet that other player. Who knows? They might also be someone who's isekai-d too.

When Sunnie nears the other player, she realizes the pixelated character looks awfully familiar. It feels like she should know him, but it feels weird because it feels like she never met him in reality.

As soon as she's directly in front of him, able to notice his thick curly air and slanted eyes, (and his buff macho hot body EHEM), she realizes that he distinctly looks like a pixelated version of her boyfriend.

"Eo? Is that you?" Sunnie speaks to the other player.

The other player, presumably Leo, flips around in that funny way that 2D characters do. His eyes visibly blink twice, and then speaks. "Sunnie? That you???"

As soon as Sunnie confirms that yes, she IS Sunnie, the male player immediately sprints towards the female player, lifting her up and twirling her in the air as he hugs her.

They couldn't believe that they saw each other in this bizarre world. It was already weird enough to wake up in a different place that's not their bed. It's even weirder to wake up pixelated and two dimensional. And its absolutely crazy to be isekai-d to the same place as your special someone.

After hugging each other for a few moments more (of course they gotta hug, and maybe sneak in a few kisses hehe~), they ended up sitting down on the ground and having a more proper conversation.

They talked about their weird experience of waking up here, then to what they did the previous night that could've caused this bizarre phenomenon, and they ended up talking about all their possible theories on what happened to them. In the end, they concluded that they probably got isekai-d into Terraria.

With seemingly no way out, they decided to plan a few strategies on how they were gonna get out of this isekai world. Even though it would be fun to stay in Terraria and finally be with each other physically, in the end, they still gotta go back to their real lives. Their families and friends would worry. They also wouldn't be able to continue their lives properly. They had so many things that each of them wanted to do that they couldn't do in Terraria, such as playing games and watching anime. (And to be quite frank, they realized it wasn't as comfortable to hug and kiss each other when they are literally pixelated and two-dimensional. They couldn't feel each other's warmth, which kind of sucks.)

And so, after finalizing their strategic game plan, they stood up, got their inventory and maps ready, and sought to start their new adventure together.

A few days have passed ever since the couple found themselves in this peculiar predicament. They've tried many things that they could think of to possibly get out of this isekai world. One such thing was that they tried to sleep, hoping that their isekai adventure would end once they got unconscious. It was also the easiest to do out of all their plans. But as soon as they woke up and a pixelated sight greeted them, they knew it was a lost cause.

One of the other plans that they had was, maybe if one of them died, the world would be reset and they would be forced out of the isekai world. But alas, that was too morbid for the both of them. They could not handle the thought of losing each other to such fatal events. That plan was immediately discarded.

Now, one of their last plans was to try and finish the game. Isekai's usually involved some form of "helping the isekai world" so they decided to try this plan for last, since this plan would involve the most amount of time. They had hoped that the previous plans would've worked, but life was not so lenient to easily grant them freedom from isekai.

Even though the isekai event has caused both of them extreme worry about coming back to their old lives, in the end, they have decided to just stop worrying and to do their best to face quests and bosses together.

They explored together. They cooked together. They ate together. They fought together. They laughed together.

As days turned into months of exploring the pixelated blocky world of Terraria, it also allowed the couple to spend lots of time together, forming a stronger relationship through shared experiences and hardships, and coming out stronger because of it.

After months of camping, they basically know all the little fun stories and anecdotes of each other. After all, what better way to pass the time than to learn more about each other and having fun while doing so, teasing each other and making such banter?

(And if they ended up flirting or making out, well, that was their own business done in the privacy of their tent.)

Finally, it's been a year since they got transported into the world of Terraria. A whole year's worth of exploring, flirting, hugging, and talking. A whole year's worth full of valuable memories of tears and laughter.

And finally, a year after they woke in this universe, they are finally standing face to face against the final boss of Terraria: The Moon Lord.

Before facing the final boss, the couple made sure that they were prepared to the best of their abilities. They trained and fought against lots of monsters until their strategy and synchronization was perfect. They gathered enough materials to ensure that they had the highest upgraded armor and weapons to fight with. They also did their research, going around towns and gleaning information about the boss and how best to defeat it.

Of course, they had to make sure their preparations was perfect. They didn't want to lose each other in this fight, not knowing whether or not a death in this pixelated reality was equivalent to their death in the real world.

They didn't want to chance that. So of course they prepared.

After hours and hours of grueling and exhausting fighting, they were finally able to defeat the Moon Lord.

Once they double checked and confirmed that the Moon Lord was finally dead, the couple immediately looked at each other. Sunnie, breathing hard and nearly collapsing to the ground from exertion. Leo, sweating and gasping as he runs towards Sunnie, swinging her into the air to celebrate their triumphant victory.

As they lean on each other's forehead, sweaty but grinning wide with victory, they whispered a soft "I love you" to each other and sealed it with a tender kiss, right as their pixelated two-dimensional bodies started to fade out of existence.

Suddenly, Sunnie wakes up with a gasp, standing upright from her suddenly very soft and comfortable bed. After a whole year of sleeping on either lumpy beds or hard ground, she has grown unused to the soft feeling of her bed.

But in spite of that, Sunnie touches her lips, a soft tingly feeling lingering on her lips, as well as the phantom feeling of exhaustion.

As she looks around her familiar room that she has not seen in a long time, she suddenly notices her phone. She immediately grabs it, opening it to look at the time.

...

Hah. She can't believe it. It was the date that she and Eo first got isekaid into Terraria. The day of her birth. July 29. It was as if she simply went to sleep and woke up normally.

Except, she had an additional whole year's worth of memories after being isekaid. What does this mean? It was as if no time had passed at all.

Then suddenly, she gets a call from Eo. She picks it up, and she hears him talk about his bizarre year-long vivid dream of being isekaid into Terraria with her.

That means, they both had the same dream. The same set of memories. They compared some things they remembered and they were exactly the same.

And of course, they both remembered that last tender moment they shared together before waking up back in their real life.

In the end, they decide to not just think much of it, and instead, to treasure the additional time they got to spend together, living together, and the new additional set of memories.

Besides, Sunnie still had to prepare for school. But this time, she spent most of her day dazed, recalling back to the tender kiss she and her boyfriend shared, shyly smiling and blushing whenever she remembers it.

Out of the whole bizarre experience and dream, that one soft moment might be the memory she ends up treasuring most.

THE END.
