The Downfall of His Peace

Summary:

What if?
What if we got to see what was going on Yunsu's head most of the time? Would he be thinking like a normal person? Or would we see him being haunted by thoughts of Chae Ah?
.
.
.
(Nvm it's impossible for him to be normal )
Olgami from Yumsu's PoV. The chapters aren't necessarily in chronological order. It gets better eventually lol. This is my first work. Be a little forgiving please.

Notes:

This is my first real work that I'm doing for y'all. Seriously I wanted this so much I actually made an account 🤦🏻‍♀️
My exams are coming but I'll keep on adding every once in a while.

Chapter 1: The Day It All Began

Chapter Text

Ah. There she is.

When Yunsu looks past the elderly (really he's older than all of them) lady who keeps trying to make him her son in law, he saw her. She usually doesn't mingle with others. Sure she's polite and talks to everyone who approaches her, but she keeps a safe distance from everyone.

She isn't some beauty who can steal the country's heart, but she's quite something to look at. Long dark hair mostly pulled into a ponytail, sharp features and this careful look in her amber eyes. Skin almost translucent. Like a wildcat. Sleek and beautiful but capable of gnawing your face off.

After all this was the woman who stabbed her ex.

Yunsu doesn't know why he's so engrossed with her. Because of the guy, she reminds me of him. Just how great his blood would be, such a shame I didn't get it, he thinks to himself.

All this took just a few seconds. He just kept nodding along with the ajummas without any second thoughts really. When Chae A snickered.

"Oh,   it's just that last night I happened to see Yunsu with his girlfriend." She had this look about her. She's enjoying this too much.

"Was I wrong? Was that your younger sister?"

The ladies jumped at this and started bombarding him with questions. Ah, so this is the game you wanna play huh? Yunsu internally smirked. Have it your way then.

Before he could respond she left.

If only she knew what was coming...

Chapter 2: Reminiscence

Summary:

This chapter is set before chapter one of Olgami. Simply a peek into his mind about what he thinks sometimes.

Notes:

I'm trying to get used to writing. So sorry about the silly mistakes. Interactions are much appreciated. Feel free to let me know what you think.

Chapter Text

He first saw her years ago. After a hunt. He saw the scene. Chae A had a knife in her hands. The pooling blood of her ex. The delectable scent of his blood. He was full so he walked away. But he kept thinking about it regardless. Out of sheer dumb luck he saw her going to the same church as him.

Later that day when he talked to her in the confessional, he was amused. Truly amused. She wants to be good. Seem good. Act good. But that temper still showed through. How she felt about everyone. How she was envious of those with better lives.

She wants to be someone pure. She wants to be loved. And in turn she wants to love someone.

Pathetic.

At least that's what he wants to think. He tries to forget how he used be like that too. The woman who gave him refuge. He thinks of her sometimes. How he really never meant harm to her. How he really never meant to harm anyone. But he tries to forget it.

After all, he did kill all of them.

Prey and predator. That's how the world works. The humans are his prey. And he's the predator. He stopped feeling bitter about it. He stopped caring about others. His life now simply consists of Grimm.

But at times of vulnerability, when he feels suffocated by the endless flow of his surroundings, when he sees how people grow old, when he sees them dying in midst of their loved ones, he realizes that the sins of his life will never let him have that type of ending.

Did he truly give up hope on becoming good? Did he truly not want to be loved?

He stops thinking when the service ends. Eyes unintentionally landing on her, looking bored. Almost mirroring his own boredom. He thinks, At least she'll be dying someday. After all, she's not the one with an infinity of boredom coming for her.

If only he knew what was coming...

Chapter 3: Defiance

Summary:

The bridge scene on chapter/episode 16

Notes:

I always got this feeling that before realizing it was Chae A's blood that made him lose control, he subconsciously avoided drinking her blood. If he killed her on chapter 16 I doubt he'd drain her of her blood.

Chapter Text

I want, no I need to kill her, he thinks while choking her even harder.

When she said she doesn't want to do this anymore, he wasn't really all that shocked. To be honest he was actually shocked by the fact she brought him 2 humans before she even tried to protest. Of course she'll say she doesn't wanna do it. Then he'll scare her and then everything will be right back on track.

But the thing is, before even entering the church he saw it. That blank look in her eyes. It looked like she finally made a decision. But that blank look. It really bugged him. He kept making threats and yet she actually had the audacity to call the police. She's made up her mind.

Oh well. He won't let her play this game her way at all.

He intimidated her. Threatened her. As much as he enjoys doing it there's this anger bubbling in him. Almost personal. Ridiculous, why does he feel so mad? After all, he did this every once in a while. Blackmail someone. Make them play this game until they eventually broke. Some took their lives. Some ran away. Some just went crazy.

She did not.

She didn't run. She actually did as asked. She proved that she could but she doesn't want to anymore.

It's annoying how much it enraged him. I mean it's normal right? Why is he this mad? It's her defiance.

Most people were just afraid when they realized exactly how powerful he is. How he could kill them with a flick of his wrist. They were scared shitless. Not Chae A. She would rather die than bow down. She'd rather die than let go of her pride.

It infuriated him. How much she reminds him of himself. How defiant he was when he was a human. How even after learning that Father was the reason of him mother's death he dared to defy him. That defiance slowly ebbed over the centuries. But he sees it right now on her eyes. How even though he literally has her life on his hands she still defies him.

It makes him mad. He needs to kill her. He doesn't even want her blood he just wants to kill her mercilessly.

But he thinks rationally. No, if I kill her I'll just play right into her hands. Oh no. I'll make her suffer.

He flings her right into the road where she crashed loudly. No, I need to leave before I end up killing her. She's a good plaything, I wanna have more fun with her. This can't do I have to leave.

He turned away from her. So mad. No he needs to calm down. So he did what he does best.

Even with a supply of humans right down in his basement, he hunts.

Chapter 4: A Dangerous Prank

Summary:

Yunsu's inner monologue on episode 22-23

Notes:

I'm busy with my studies so I haven't been posting. Thanks a lot for the kudos! I'll try to be regular but I'm taking our country's equivalent of SAT so it might be a while.

Chapter Text

"Are you alright--''

And his mind goes blank.

While talking with the women he heard the crash. He's been living with humans long enough that he appropriately asked for her wellbeing. But see...

That's where his mind stopped.

He can't remember exactly what happened or why it happened all he remembers is that he had her under his spell. It comes naturally whenever he hunts. It makes his preys complacent. Willing. Almost entrancing when his cornered preys simply give in.

He takes her left hand. His own slides around her neck. Grabbing it. Tilting it ever so slightly to give him more access. His lips oh so close. His eyes glowing violently. The smell of her blood heading. Her own scent floral. A little spicy. Just like her. Pretty yet deadly.

His fangs find their way to her throat. He could feel her pulse. The anticipation almost made him fall over.

That's when he heard it.

The shuttering sound brings him back to his sense. Like someone is taking his photos. Shit!

He pulls back. Unknowingly lifting his spell. Her eyes flutter open. Shock registering on her face.

He shoves her harshly. "DAMN IT!"

The ladies also get backs to themselves. Their confusion evident.

The maddening rage he felt was so fiery, it almost burned his insides.

He's startled when he realized he was panting. Why is he so worked up?!

He looks up at her slowly, trying to regain control. "Chae Ah..."

She flinches when she saw his face, fear evident in her eyes.

"That was a cute prank you pulled."

He gives her one last look. And he's gone.

When he gets back to the manor, he's almost on autopilot. He didn't even register Grimm's words.

He asks Grimm to burn that shirt. Why he doesn't know. All he knows is he needs that scent gone. As if that scent is his personal enemy. He's not thinking straight maybe.

He comes up with a plan. She played a prank right. He'll also return the favor.

Even though he hunted just a few days prior. He hunts yet again. Unaware that her blood put that thirst in him. Unaware her blood is the one he's yearning for. It'll be sometime before he realizes that though.

Until then...

Chapter 5: Paranoia

Summary:

Pre canon. Chae Ah's POV. A look into her life before Yunsu. When her worst fears were stalkers.

Notes:

I know I said this work will be of Yunsu's POV but I recently got an idea. I did a pre canon Yunsu chapter already so this one will be a pre canon Chae Ah.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"Will that be all?" Chae Ah got startled. Shit! I was staring right? "Uh... Yes! Thanks!"

"It's my pleasure. Please come back again."

Chae Ah left the store feeling a little glum. That lady looked so much like her mom that she just kept staring at her. She was smiling so kindly at her.

Ugh! Now I have to haul all of this back to the shitty place!

Ever since she started driving the taxi around, she was so busy getting used to this new life she didn't even properly buy everything she needed. Don't get her wrong, she's grateful for the place her uncle got her. But it's still a really cramped place and the neighborhood isn't the best to be at.

She didn't even bring the taxi with her. It wasn't so far, her place. And she wasn't planning to buy so much. But oh well.

It was starting to get a little hard for her to take everything together. She suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Um Miss? May I help with those?" Chae Ah's heart was beating so loudly because she was startled. She calm herself and replied, "No it's okay. I live close by."

"That's okay. I work at this store. I help some of the ajummahs with their groceries too. I'll be happy to help." The guy looked to be in his mid twenties. He was of medium build. Not the threatening looking type to be exact. But you see...

The thing is, ever since Hae Won, she tries to avoid guys at all cost. Even after her release she hasn't really hung out with anyone at all. That stalker made her so paranoid, she's simply scared of anyone at all knowing where she lives, what she does. Hence, the reluctance.

"It's really okay. I appreciate the offer though." " Oh, come now, Miss. My mom sent me to help you. Don't worry. I don't bite," the guy chuckled. She looked into the store. The lady was looking at her kindly. She finally bent. "Okay."

The guy took most of the heavy stuff. Some pots and pans. Brooms and all. She was still wary of him. But he didn't seem to mind. The walk was pleasant enough. He didn't talk too personally, like asking her name. Simply commented on the weather, things like that. When they came close to the building she stopped.

"Uh, thanks so much. I can take them from here." " Oh, it's okay. I can get it to your place." "No please, I'll do it!" Chae Ah didn't mean to be so forceful with the last line, but it worked. "Okay then," the guy said.

Now she felt a little bad. I mean he did help her, right? She was thinking of saying something to diffuse the tension, maybe invite him over for tea? He looks like a good enough guy. Not everyone's a psychopathic bitch now, right? when he suddenly said, "Your name's Chae Ah, right? I saw you sometimes. You drive a taxi, no? I've actually been meaning to talk to you for a while. Say, are you dating someone?"

He said all of these casually, but the hair on her neck stood up. She was suddenly so anxious, her thoughts were running at the speed of light.

Is he stalking me? How can he know my name? I don't really use my taxi around here so much for him to know. Did he know where I lived? Is that why he was so ready to help me? Is he really the store owner's son? Did she really send him? Or did he lie? Does he know exactly which floor I lived at? Which room? Did he know I live alone? Is that why he approached me?

Her thoughts were loud and her heart was beating really fast. She was equally scared and angry. Scared because she thought it was happening again. Angry because this guy helped her because he thought it would impress her. But years of jail taught her to be a little bit more patient with her feelings.

"Oh, I'm actually engaged, you see. Me and my fiance were both doing our best to get a little bit more money for our honeymoon! Hence, the temporary taxi driving," she lied as smoothly as she could. Which must've been believable because his face fell. "Oh! Sorry for bothering you." He left right away.

Funnily enough, even with the smooth lying she was still very anxious about the guy. She'd look around anytime she crossed that road. Making sure no one followed her.

She kept living alone and friendless. After all, she learned her lesson the first time. She just can't put her trust on anyone ever again.

Little did she know what was about to come...

Notes:

Plot twist: The guy didn't lie. She said her name to the owner absentmindedly. He saw her driving the taxi close by. He was actually interested at her. (Can you blame him she's pretty AF)
But our poor girl is scarred really badly. We know she can't trust everyone easily.

Chapter 6: Precarious

Summary:

Some fleeting thoughts of Yunsu. Pre canon.

Notes:

It's literally been months. I'm really busy with my exams so I couldn't update. But I promised myself, even if no one reads this, I'll finish this project. It's my pov that I want out there. So I'll continue. Just don't know when.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Sometimes, Yunsu catches himself thinking dangerous things.

That's not to say he doesn't do dangerous stuff. It's just.... well, humanlike thoughts he finds dangerous.

Just 2 days ago when he arrived in Tokyo, he didn't think his thoughts will take this turn.

He sees a young couple. Both barely 25. Young and wide eyed, going through some bookshops. They were at Jimboucho, Yasukuni street to be specific. This place was famous for bookshops. Yunsu always resists going somewhere new, so that he has something to look forward to. But this time his curiosity got the best of him, when a patron at the orphanage he visits kept talking about it.

Why he was looking at them he didn't know. There were so many people. Yet his eyes kept going back to them.

He walked into that store. Going through the books. He knows japanese. Learnt it some decades ago. So he kept eyeing the books. Thinking of picking up some for Grimm too. When he heard them.

"Amane kun, let's come here everyday! We'll find books for each other, and when it's a huge pile we'll make a wedding arch with the books!"

How stupid, he thought, what if the books get scratched?

"Such a great idea, Nene chan. But that means we'd have to buy about 100 or so books in a week!"

Wait, they're serious?

They kept talking silly things but eventually the talk took a turn about literature. Young as they may be they know a lot about books. Must be nice, sharing about favorite books and all.

Suddenly he stopped in his tracks, when he thought of it, that one dangerous thought. Something he should never think again.

How would it be to have a companion again? Someone to talk about books? Someone who'd share idle conversation? Someone who'd laugh with him about silly young couples-

He left the store at such a speed it was a wonder everyone didn't get whiplashed.

Dangerous thought indeed. As if Seon wasn't enough. As if I'd care for anyone EVER again. Grimm is enough.

He left in such a hurry. As if leaving would make his loneliness gone too.

Chapter 7: Debt

Summary:

Takes place during episode 35.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

He is almost dying. Yet that pales in comparison to this. Being indebted to Chae Ah. HAN CHAE AH OF ALL PEOPLE!

The hunger made him collapse. He was just thinking of getting up when a car skidded to a halt right in front of him. No, not a car. A cab. A cab that belongs to Chae Ah.

Leave it to Chae Ah to save him. Ah, what a twisted fate!

He promised. He promised her freedom and her life. Such promises always comes at a high price. Each and every promise he has made somehow came back to stab at him. But it was this or death.

If only I laid down and died, why cling onto life at all?

He intimidated her of course. Made her promise in turn. Some part of him liked to tower her. Fingers unconsciously running though a stray lock of her hair. Midnight black like his soul. But the gesture was hardly noteworthy. After all, she was his plaything. He needed to have some sort of leverage. Last thing he needed was the most amusing toy he found in a while to up and leave.

But Chae Ah isn't just a still toy. She slapped him, hard. Sure, it didn't hurt. Yet some part of him wanted to bite at her cruelly anyway. Fist his hands in her hair. Pin her down and respond in kind. He held back though. The thing about these games is knowing when to push and when to pull. Keep pushing and it might just break. He doesn't want to break her yet.

Part of him wandered. Would it be so hard to kill that man? She buried a body just fine. Surely it wouldn't be that difficult. She could've gotten rid of both of us easily.

Part of him was relieved. At least she didn't think rationally, rather held onto her humanity. Wonder if I can make her lose it after all....

It was with that thought he started cleaning up the Manor. The entertaining idea of making her lose her humanity...

Notes:

Happy new year Everyone! May this year bring us much happiness! I had to post something. I'm not proud of this. However I had to put something down. I think I'll add more to it eventually. For now let this hold the fort, I guess...

Chapter 8: Subhuman Stalker

Summary:

Takes place during episodes 36-38. This chapter will have both their POVs (I had to include Chae Ah's. Because the bitch Nam Hae Won deserves her mental berating.)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Chae A's POV

By some horrible twist of fate, she was being dragged to a coffee date with her Ex. Who was the stalker who royally fucked up her already fucked up life.

When Chae Ah showed up to the church, her biggest fear was Yunsu. She was still scared of him, alright. But truth be told, somehow, the fear of her ex somehow managed to triumph over Yunsu's.

She was used to being pulled to sides by the ajhumma's, used to their awfully personal questions. So she was going through with this particular woman, hoping to somehow get out of whatever situation she's definitely going to get caught up in, just wanting to go home and crawl under the covers, still haunted by Yunsu's glare when she saw him.

Unbeknownst to the bubbly ajhumma, this man is no human. He was a subhuman stalker.

When she kept trying to somehow run away, he had the audacity to make her feel like she has to join them. After all, the lady went to such troubles for them. It'd be rude not to go, he said.

Sadly, some part of her was still very much scared of this bastard. Scared of that tone of his voice. That's the tone he used whenever he left no room for argument. So even though she wanted to run away, she got caught up in it anyway.

In the cafe, the lady and Hae Won kept talking cheerfully, while Chae Ah was swimming in dread. Her heart was beating too fast even though she gave off an unconcerned aura. The bitch had the audacity make 7 years seem like just some words.

7 years. It was 7 years of her life he robbed. She was behind bars for 7 years. 7 years of  her life went up in smoke. When it wasn't even her fault. When he should've been the one suffering. He took away that time of her life just because she wanted a normal relationship? Because she wanted love? She felt a lump in her throat.

"Has it already been that long? Already...."

Later when he tried to kiss her again, she felt that lump in her throat grow. But she's Han Chae Ah. She'll be damned if she'll look weak in front of him.

As much as she hated Yunsu, he proved to be a good enough distraction for her to run away with Grimm.

  Yunsu's POV

She didn't come to mass. How predictable.

Turns out his hunch was right. While leaving the church, he could sense her. Right by the heavy doors. He could tell how scared she was, heart thumping louder than the sounds surrounding them. He thought of simply leaving first, not acknowledging her. But he ended up throwing a glance at her anyway. Push and pull.

Knowing Chae Ah was here, he went to her house. Hoping to catch Grimm before she makes it back. When he pulled up to the parking lot, he could see him leaving the convenience store with some stuff. He sighed internally. Then he got out.

He was trying to convince him to come back, nagging at him about the food and all that when a car stopped in front of them. He paid them no mind at first. Trying to berate him when he noticed Grimm was looking at that direction. His eyes followed his, and what did he see? Chae Ah.

But most importantly, Nam Hae Won. The ex.

This was the man who Yunsu saw years ago. This was the man who got stabbed by Chae Ah. But most importantly, this was the man who's blood made Yunsu crazy.

He kept a distance while Grimm used this opportunity to act like a clingy little brother to Chae Ah, whining about Chae Ah getting another boyfriend. He simply observed how she was getting increasingly uncomfortable with the situation. When Grimm said something a little annoying.

"Does that mean my uncle was dumped?"

He didn't much react. But he noticed Hae Won's reaction. He sure didn't like the insinuation.

When Chae Ah left with Grimm he glanced at his direction once. He was just thinking how to hunt him with his restrictions when suddenly Hae Won tried to grab him.

He easily dodged him of course. Hae won kept going on and on about Chae Ah and it sort of pissed him off.

But his dam of patience broke when he grabbed him forcefully. Asking if he loved Chae Ah. Asking about his intentions.

Now Park Yunsu is hardly a good man. He's sinful, he's monstrous and he's a psychopath. He knows all of it. So it hardly comes as a shock how he responded.

"Marriage. What are you going to do about it?" He liked the look on his face. After all, he's a prey. In the end it's natural for him to torture his prey a little.

"We're in a bit of a rough patch right now. But our personalities...and bodies...work together well. We'll probably get married soon." He revelled in the expression that crossed his prey's face. As if the mere idea pained him. Now he had to nail the final nail into the coffin.

"I'm sure Chae Ah feels the same way. The only one who can handle her personality" he leaned in "... is me."

He left then. Feeling satisfied with him self. But even so, the satisfaction was short lived.

Instead of feeling good about finding the prey he's been eyeing so long, he feels annoyed. Why he doesn't know. After all, a new game has presented itself right in front of him.

He only feels better when he thinks he'll be using Chae Ah again.

Unbeknownst to him, he'll get a very special surprise...

Notes:

I didn't like how the last chapter turned out. So guess who's not studying for the exam she has in 1 hour and writing another long ass chapter? That's right. It's me. Honestly I hate Hae Won so much so that I never wanted to include him in this work. But he's a important piece to the story. I wanted to write just Yunsu's POV but Chae Ah's input was important in this one. So this chapter became super long. Anyways, this probably means I'll come back in 6 months or so. Who knows?

Chapter 9: Cognizance

Summary:

Set during chapter 48-51. Yunsu's Pov.

Chapter Text

He was waiting in the alley, waiting for the blood to start flowing.

This whole plan fell together in his mind not long ago. Especially with how much Chae Ah was suffering, he knew it was only about time when she'll break.

He did have a general idea as to what happened between her and Haewon. There was dispute and she stabbed him. Served years behind bars where he was still at large. But he didn't know the exact details untill recently.

They were dating. Apparently Haewon was a stalker and she was a victim. But korean police has always been lenient with guys, if anything, money has always been the winning factor. Yunsu would know.

It was however a little shocking that Chae Ah would be this paranoid about him. The whole time Yunsu has known her, she's not the kind to give up easily. Hell just how much fight she has in her is proved by her defiance to Yunsu. But this broken girl is not what he knew before.

That day she almost looked desperate to be done with this nightmare. Crying in the rain, toppled over helplessly as if she's finally lost all her will. It was amusing to say the least. But part of him felt jealous that Haewon could drive her into this mindless state but Yunsu, an undead monster, could not.

He approached her carefully, as if she's a wild animal who'd lash out. He gave her a out.

"Do you want me to kill him for you? Nam Hae Won, I mean..."

He knew well enough he couldn't hunt. And he really won't. But he has to fool her after all.

The look she gave him had a lot of emotions in it. Shock, despair, disgust, but more than anything, Hope.

Hope that this could finally be over.

Although she agreed, she threw away his umbrella in spite. It was a little funny, really. This woman just has to have the last word.

Of course, Yunsu would hardly let go of this golden opportunity.

So while he's waiting in the car when Chae Ah called him, he's not shocked Hae Won hit her with a brick. His first thought was Is she dead?

Apparently not, when Hae Won carried her away.

Truth be told he was getting really antsy with how long it's taking. He gave her a knife. He didn't see Hae Won taking it from her. He's still debating whether it'll happen or not when he got a whiff.

Ah, this sweet blood.

To say he ran to it would be an understatement.

The aroma of the blood was so strong, he didn't even do a once-over over the room as he was trained to do. His only mindless obsession being the blood.

The blood he smelled years ago, the blood he craved ever since and the blood that's definitely NOT this one.

He let go of his lifeless body. His brain short circuiting. Why does it taste so different?!

"You fell for it, Yunsu."

"Han Chae Ah..."

Something in his demeanor must have sent her off. She tried to run away even with the wound on her thigh. But Yunsu's not really thinking rationally right now.

"Where do you think you're going?" He shoved her into the bed, hard. "Look at you, playing tricks like this on a vampire. You must've a death wish, Han Chae Ah."

He's unsure why he feels this rage inside of him. He's unsure why he wants, no, needs to pin her down.

She took the knife out of the wound, holding it oh so close to his face, driving him crazy...

"You can't kill me. Isn't that right?" It wasn't a question. She's completely confident.

"How do you know that?"

She said something, but he couldn't hear it anymore, not when she smeared her blood on his shirt. The scent of her blood was slowly driving him crazy. "You really...."

He stopped thinking. I need this blood, and I need it now!

Before he knew what he's doing, he's there at her neck. The delectable smell of her blood undoing him. His fangs close to her neck, Oh so close to biting her. For a moment he's completely entranced by her pulse. Thumping even louder than his own. He couldn't hear anything else. Until she screamed at him. Until she pulled at his hair. And something inside of him snapped awake at that.

"Aren't you going to keep your promise?!"

He took a deep breath. Trying to calm himself but failing to do so. Wherever you look, there's that sweet smelling blood hindering his thoughts.

"Ah...." He looked squarely at her. "Han Chae Ah, you really piss me off."

She finally shoved him off of her. Grabbing his shirt in a fist, she said "Park Yunsu, you can't kill me anyways." Letting it go, she said in a rather chilling voice, "So, don't try to use me anymore. I'm more vicious than you think."

Now, normally he'd pay those words no mind. Normally, he would have a comeback. But this isn't 'normally' anymore. If anything, she proved her words just now. She then walked away.

Alone, in the room with that corpse and her sweet blood, he starts to think.

The hows, the whys, the whens. As he thinks, more and more starts to make sense. And he starts to get pissed off.

He went to such lengths, only to come empty handed. He's promised her for fuck's sake!! He promised. Blood promises can't be broken. And now he can't have her blood!

Ah the universe and it's twisted sense of humour.

Han Chae Ah....You got lucky...!!!

Now as he sulks and daydreams about her blood, he totally forgets Father's command. But that'll come to haunt him later, after all.

Chapter Text

Why? Why won't he stay?

Truth be told, Yunsu is fully aware of the reason. Grimm believes he killed his parents. It's only fair he doesn't want to see his face. I suppose I did hate Father more when I learned he killed Eomma.

Even so, with Father in Korea and with him trying to kill Grimm, it's only fair that he should come back. After all, Grimm may be smart, but he's not trained for hiding like he was. It's the smart thing to do, sticking with Yunsu.

But no. Because Grimm hardly let Yunsu sigh in relief before he said he wanted to go back with Chae Ah.

In that moment, Yunsu sort of wanted to strangle her. Unfairly, of course. It's not her fault that Grimm wants to go back with her. If anything, the past few days proved she didn't keep Grimm for convenience. She genuinely cared about him. He just let them go then.

But being the control freak he is (he's insanely worried about Grimm, he can't let him go too), he chose to move in next door.

It was easy clearing the studio out. He simply paid the man enough money he left. No questions asked.

Yunsu was aware where Chae Ah lived, having stalked followed her, before Grimm moved in. But the state of the building was downright pathetic. How do people live here?

He was telling the moving guy where to put his stuff when Chae Ah's scent hit him. Before he could turn, she demanded answers.

"You. What are you doing here so early in the morning?"

He looked back at her. Dressed in a simple tee and shorts, she looked like she just woke up. He wondered if Chae Ah wasn't a morning person. It's well past 9.

He chose to take the nonchalant approach. "Can't you see? I'm moving in.''

Her face was a mixture of mocking and disbelieving. "You're moving in? You are?"

"Yes, across the hall. Don't make that face. Welcome me to the neighborhood.''

Their banter went up to the normal standard. Until she started talking about obsession.

Now, Yunsu is nothing if not self-aware. He also loves Grimm. He's the only constant in his life, his only companion. Yunsu always liked kids. He made it a point to never hunt them. Grimm was just the same. His friend's son who he cared like his own.

But obsession? That's not what stuck him to Grimm. But he's starting to realize it might be obsession that stuck him to Chae Ah. Then she pushed his last button.

"What are you going to do?" She smirked, "Cry again?''

Last of his patience went out the metaphorical window.

"Ha!" He leaned closed to her, winding strands of her raven black hair in his fingers, twirling them. "Chae Ah, You keep talking to me about obsession. Do you want me to show you what obsession really is?"

He unconsciously wanted her to say yes. He wanted her to tell him to show it to her. He wanted to her to ask him to sink his fangs into her neck. Ah, to have her delectable blood....

His fangs came out instinctively. "You know," he said, poking at her band-aid, "Your blood was quite delicious." This close, he felt smothered in her scent. He could feel her pulse, thumping louder than ever, fear evident in her eyes and stance. Ah, that's more like it.

But because this is Chae Ah, of course she'd do the unexpected. She bit his finger. Hard.

"You Bastard! Don't even think about it." She ran away, slamming the door behind her.

He looked at his finger than. Smiling to himself. It'd be super fun if she unintentionally ended up drinking my blood.

Later that day, he followed them both to a convenience store. They were standing at the window, Grimm eating his trademark ramen.

"So....Why is Park Yunsu here?" Of course he couldn't really hide from Grimm if he tried.

He joined them later. But the silence among them was so thick, they could cut it with a knife. But he was observing them. Grimm didn't have an appetite? That's weird. Specially after the last few days, he can't point exactly where, but there's something wrong.

He chose to graze a nearby store assistant. He didn't even look what he did, observing Grimm closely.

He's not sure he liked what he found.

Grimm was a half blood. Father, vampire. Mother, human. He's close to 40 in human years. But he's still trapped in a 10 year old's body. He never did drink blood, but he could always do simple magic. He's more like a human child than a vampire.

But there's no questioning it. He's eyes are gold, his fangs are out.

This child, he looked after him since Seon died. Looked after him like his own. Even though he's stuck in this body, he was happy that Grimm wasn't a vampire. He felt like that was the only saving grace of this situation. But all of it came crashing down.

When Grimm ran away, a dull ache filled his heart. Will he become like me too?

Notes:

I like to think if he could help it, Yunsu would NEVER let Grimm become a vampire. Since Seon, I'm sure he realized just how horrible a fate being a vampire was. He did cope well to it, but surely that's not what he wanted. I hope to write another chapter later today. Stay tuned.

Chapter 11: Amusement

Notes:

This takes place after Chae Ah first showed up at the church. I do believe this is how it goes down.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

She buys coffee during lunch time.

She'll drive around a few customers, take a break around high noon. Buy a coffee, sometimes a sandwich. Then she'll find a busy area and people-watch the passer-bys.

She'll remain expressionless. She'll just stare at people. Sometimes smile but rarely. She mostly grimaces at them. As if someone is laughing purely at her expense.

She will drive more people. Most of the time they end up arguing. There are more than a few people who simply gets out of her cab in a sour mood. She'll then bump her head to the steering wheel a few times. Then she'll move on.

She usually does it till 8 pm. Somedays later, somedays earlier. Then she'll go to her home.

The neighborhood she lives in isn't a very ideal place. The building is old. Most inhabitants either very young students or very old lonely people.

She doesn't dress up, she doesn't go out, she doesn't party, she seldom drinks in public most of all she's completely alone. She doesn't have friends. She doesn't have family.

Every sunday, she shows up at the church. She listens and prays obediently. She socializes with the churchgoers. She laughs with them. But the moment she leaves the church, it's back to her business face. Aloof and bored.

Why does Yunsu know all of this?

Coincidentally, of course. It's not like I'm stalking her.

Most of Yunsu's preys are women in their mid 20's. Majority of them are people he sleeps with before draining them of their blood. It's not even like he invites them to bed. They just corner him, target him knowing from just a look that he's got money. Something about the way he carries himself must say Cocky Rich Bastard.

It's enjoyable, the release, the euphoria and the blood. It's quite an amusing life, he daresays.

But he never wanted to put Chae Ah in this profile. For most people who he fucks were just that. A bedwarmer and even warmer dinner. No interest, no amusement.

But Chae Ah... She's amusing. She doesn't show much expression but the rare few times she smiles it's almost innocent. The rare few times she dresses up she's almost shy. The rare few times he sees her in the street she's almost too sour, envious of the carefree people. Wanting to have that, unable to achieve it. The rare few times she's with her sister she's uncomfortable. The rare few times she's with her uncle she's defensive. The rare few times she helps people at the church out she's at peace, she's in agony.

It's really AMUSING....

It's not like he hasn't thought of it, picking her up someday, taking her out for a dinner. She's too smart though. She wouldn't give in. Not so fast. Maybe a few dates, maybe acting a little vulnerable. Maybe show the same distaste for happy people like she has. Maybe then she'll let her guard down. Maybe he could even invite her to bed. Maybe her blood would be sour just like she is.

But no. He doesn't do that. Who knows, maybe she'll lead him to that guy again. His delectable blood....

His eyes find her again. She's sitting in the back pew. But today she looks a little bit different, doesn't she? Hair pulled up in a high ponytail. A slight pink lipstick, a hint of eyeliner and a white blouse with a long pencil skirt. Her face looks relaxed. Her eyes unguarded.

How amusing...

He follows her today. For whatever reason. Definitely not stalking.

She pulls her cab up at a graveyard. Holding 2 bouquets of Carnations. When did she even buy those?

She walks in there for quite a while, with Yunsu following her from a safe distance. He made sure to not follow her with his car, rather he simply teleported following her scent. He knows she's paranoid. He wouldn't want to alert her.

There, she finally stops. The gravestones are mossy, there are leaves scattered around. She lays those down at the gravestones. There was already a bouquet on her father's grave, white flowers to be exact, but not her mother's. She simply stands there. Not speaking, not crying. Her eyes had a faraway look in them. She stood there for a few minutes and started walking back. But she stopped and turned around.

"Eomma, Appa, I grew up, didn't I? Look, I look like Eomma now. I'm pretty like her too. I don't care if that's why Halmeoni hates me . I'm glad I look more like you. I'll be back."

She simply turns and leaves. Back to her days, back to her routine. But this perplexing incident will confuse him for days.

How amusing...

Notes:

I like to think he has followed her for a while before their game. After the whole series you have to admit that he was just looking for an excuse to get into her life. We remember Chae Ah's diary, I believe she does visit them, Maybe this is on their death anniversary maybe on a random Sunday, or maybe even on her birthday. But who knows...

Chapter 12: Confinement

Summary:

Another pre-Canon. A look into his past up to his parting from Grey.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The first brick he placed was when the kind lady turned him in.

He tried. He really did. From the moment he became a bloodsucker, he had this burning thirst. When his Eomma chose death over him, the fire surrounding him burnt his heart to ashes. But he still tried.

The nearest village was some miles away. He kept drinking water from the river, but it didn't quench.

When she took him in, she tried to feed him. He tried to eat. But it didn't do anything for his hunger, his thirst. When she found him by the dog, even then he tried.

Not to give in, not to bite her, not to feast on the blood.

But she turned him in.

The next day, when everyone kept talking about the tragedy that fell upon that family, he placed his first brick.

A brick set for a wall of confinement.

For years, he feasted on the villagers, some travelers. People sensed something amiss, they kept leaving. No one asked why he stayed.

He must miss his family, he must feel like he needs to stay for them.

When the village was fully abandoned, he started feasting on the travelers.

The first one was a merchant. Of porcelain dolls. He was fascinated.

Later when he remained motionless, Yunsu put one particularly beautiful doll on top of a Bandaji.

The next was a tutor of some high ranking person's son. He collected many books from him.

The next was a group of women with their guards. Wives and mistresses of some noblemen. He let them go. He can't kill everyone who comes this way after all. But he kept (stole) their rouge.

The next was another merchant. This time a merchant of clothes.

He needed some wardrobe change.

Yunsu was well into his adulthood now. But he noticed he doesn't change fast. Sure, he doesn't have a lot of human to compare himself to, but he knows deep down he has slowed down aging.

The first time he learned of intimacy was from a group of entertainers. A whole group was passing to go to the next town. He showed them where to stay and gave them refuge. He didn't make it known he wanted payment, yet at the dead of the night she snuck in anyway.

A woman in her mid-twenties. Catlike eyes and a charming smile. Her sleep clothes, askew. Her hair, unbound.

When she came onto him, he was curious. He didn't originally plan to kill this group. He fed 5 days ago, but he'd do it if they anger him, out of spite.

When she pressed against him and kissed him he was startled. It was a foreign feeling. Never having felt the touch of a woman or the feeling of arousal he had no name to call it.

But it was instinctual. When the woman realized he's inexperienced, she took charge.

It was satisfying, yet so unsatisfying.

He let them go unharmed. But the curiosity got the best of him.

The nearest town had many brothels, he used to hear growing up. He never had any curiosity then, but now when he visited them, a new chapter of his life started.

The art of sexual intimacy. He didn't get addicted, sure. But he visited a few times a year.

One time, he let a couple stay with him. When they went to bed he enchanted the wife to come to him. But he didn't need to. She was seduced all the same of him. A pale, beautiful man like him is hard to ignore.

Needless to say, he finished her, in both ways. The husband simply went mad. He let him go.

This routine kept on, until Father showed up.

Notes:

I plan to add the rest in a separate chapter. This one is getting too long.

Chapter 13: Confinement 둘

Notes:

The rest of previous chapter.

Chapter Text

Master took him England.

Not Master, Father. He heard of it when he was a child. Eomma told him that the man was of foreign blood. He and the other children didn't know much of the world except what was taught there. That's where Yunsu got his primary education.

England....was different. The people, the language, the clothing, the manners were fully different from what he's used to. He always found Master Father different than the rest of them and it showed in this country even more prominently.

First he changed his looks, his outfits and his overall appearance.

It took some time to get comfortable, but that was easier.

Definitely easier than learning the new language and table manners.

"Michinnom," he says one day during breakfast. Frustrated.

"Curse the British way," father said calmly.

Amused and irritated, he complies, "Arsehole."

Father manages many businesses. Once Yunsu passed his test of being worthy, he started working various jobs. Sometimes it was meetings with Father's friends or business partners. Sometimes it was disposing of human bodies. Sometimes he was ordered to kill.

He did it all. He had a boring, monotone life. So he didn't mind the change of pace.

But the day Father remorselessly admitted to setting the fire, he cried the first time in years.

He did know. He knew Father did it. But he just didn't want to believe it. He held onto this tiny hope that maybe, Maybe it was someone else. Maybe there was another reason then getting rid of traces. Maybe something that's not as pathetic as him prostrating before the very man who killed his Eomma.

He hadn't felt so humane in years.

It may have been then when he put up a whole wall around him.

After his failed attempt to kill father, he was exiled. But luck favored him. He found Seon.

Seon, who broke through his wall and became his sole companion.

Seon, who remained humane.

Seon, who regreted it.

Seon, who begged him to kill him and his son.

Seon, who left the wall ever so stronger. Unbreakable. Impenetrable.

Only for that wall to come crashing down by Chae Ah...

Chapter 14: Issues

Summary:

Yunsu faces some issues. Set around chapter 61-62.

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

When he drove to meet Father, his brain was into overdrive.

What now? Did he figure it out? Does he know Grimm is still alive? Did he sire him? Why was he unsure?

Why?!

When he pulled up at the garage Father was already waiting for him. His blood boiled for a second. But he faked nonchalance. He can't win against this man.

"Father," he greeted. Father only had a slight amused smile on his face. He nodded in response and they got in the elevator.

The elevator ride was short, yet the tension was thick. Yunsu touched his throat absentmindedly. He could still feel the pressure of Father's palm crushing it.

Suddenly, they halted to a stop at the ground floor. But when the panels parted, who would it be but Chae Ah.

FUCKING HELL??!!

Chae Ah stormed in her full glory and went straight up to him.

"Yunsu! What the hell! You left in such a hurry to come here?! If I'd have known, I'd have asked you for a ride!"

Yunsu hardly registered what she said. His ears started ringing. He glanced at father, unsure how to tackle this without....

Without what? Getting caught? But he's not doing a crime, is he? Playing with her?

The look on Father's face was downright smug.

"Yunsu," he said in his honeyed voice. Those with inferior survival instincts would fall prey to it. "Do you know this young woman?"

He felt the trap closing in on him. What do I say? I can't let him figure it out. But what can I say? He broke out in a cold sweat. Beside him, Chae Ah gasped.

Before he could say anything, she replied. "Ah, she's just a neighbor." Yunsu knew this tone well. That's the tone that says I'm-just-gonna-appease-you-so-you-leave-me-alone. She uses it a lot around others. Never him though, not once.

Thankfully her 7th floor arrived. She made to get out, but in the last second, turned and nodded at Father.

Why?!

When they finally reached the penthouse, Yunsu sighed in relief. Just without the proximity of that woman, he could think more clearly. He did a once-over of the area, how many exits, if there are guards, how to use it to his advantage were Father to turn violent. But the place was deserted.

When Father offered him tea, he declined. "I do not eat or drink anything outside.'' Not necessarily true, but not a lie either. As he's the only vampire in Korea, he doesn't need to be wary of being poisoned all the time, but he does make an effort to abstain when he's in another vampire's proximity. That, and the fact Father tried to kill him just recently.

"Why? Do you think I'll try to kill you?" Yunsu gave him a look that said, What? You won't?

Father answered the silent question, "I wouldn't do that."

Yunsu huffed. "You almost did a few days ago." But he was getting weary of this song and dance. "Well, anyways. Why did you ask to see me all of a sudden?"

He sneered at him mockingly. "Ah... I just felt ill at ease after scolding my son, whom I've met after such a long time," he drawled.

He only retorted.

Father's gaze suddenly turned cold.

"I also wanted to talk to you about your recent acts of rebellion."

Yunsu was shocked. "Rebellion...?''

Father went to explain in vivid details what his acts of "rebellion" were, and turns out most of it was tied  to his games with Chae Ah.

But I never rebelled.

His last words however struck him wrong.

"Are your human emotions because of that woman?"

He was dumbstruck.

"I'm talking about the woman we met in the elevator." His tone rubbed him off the wrong way.

"What are you talking about?'' Yunsu could feel himself getting aggravated. But he has to play this carefully.

Father put the links together. Of course he would sense her in the manor. Of course he wouldn't forget her scent. And of course he would be able to figure out his inability to kill her. If Father figured out he made a blood promise....

No, can't let him know that.

"I was forbidden from hunting at the time." "So that's why you didn't kill her? You seemed quite close with that woman though." Yunsu averted his eyes. He can't tell him about the promise, but whatever he will say, will get shot down.

The slight aversion was enough to spur Father on. He called out on his bullshit likely.

He removed the ban, asking Yunsu whether he'll hunt her, kill her. The look Father gave him was so intense Yunsu's tongue felt thick in his mouth.

But he has to play along.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Father. Please stop making assumptions."

Whether Father believed him or not, he couldn't say. But the words afterwards definitely stung him quite a bit.

"I simply hope you do not end up like your friend. Do not forget, how loving a human woman ends."

During his whole drive back, his thoughts were filled with Seon. Being immortal has its perks. One of them being able to forget things as he wishes. He doesn't like thinking of Seon. It hurts.

Instead when he pulled up at the parking lot,  he was irrate about Chae Ah's sudden appearance.

His anger about his failure to hide her existence in front of Father was instead directed at Chae Ah.

Father must've lost his mind. Yunsu, he of all people would never fall for a human. And in the very unlikely case he does, it would not be Chae Ah. The ridiculous notion of it all made him test bile.

When he was climbing the stairs, who'd come in front of him, but Chae Ah.

She kept talking some nonsense. He didn't care. He simply chose to cross her wordlessly. She was obviously confused. But when he threw a glare at her way, she gulped is fear. Yunsu didn't even realize he followed the movement of her throat, didn't realize the tightness of his own.

Instead, he wordlessly shoved past.

Me, in love with her?

Ridiculous.

Notes:

I have been working on another work for Olgami. Sadly it's been very hard for me to actually place both our weirdos as they are in the scenario I'm trying to write. Which is why it's taking me so long. However writing this today felt more freeing. Maybe I'll be done with it soon enough. Thanks for reading.
