You Occupy My Thoughts

Summary:

Violet occupies Evan's thoughts, and Evan occupies Violet's thoughts.
They decide to occupy each other's bodies.

Notes:

Big big thank you to the lovely Rowena_Ollivander for the inspiration.
This one's for you :)

Work Text:

Evan rolled over, snoozing his alarm, rolling back, opening his eyes… to an empty bed?

“Violet?” He asked nobody in particular, shuffling up in bed.

He hadn’t imagined last night, right? He leant to the side, the trail of clothes answering his question.

Hmm.

He scrambled to his feet, wrapping the sheet around him as he left the confines of the bedroom, stepping out into the living room, silently leaning against the door frame, a smile growing on his face.

So that’s where she was.

Violet’s attention was squarely on whatever was in the pan, but his attention was squarely on her.

Her messy bun with strands of stray locks that cascaded down her neck, past the love marks he’d adorned her with.

Her shirt… wait, rewind, his uniform shirt her only article of clothing, just large enough to cover her ass.

Her voice, the humming of a somewhat familiar tune echoed across the space.

He could watch her like that – happy, content – forever. Alas, today’s forever had exactly 72 minutes until he knew they had to leave for Violet had to be at 51, and him at his desk.

Hawkins pushed himself off the doorframe, waiting for the pan to leave Violet’s hand before he burst into her personal space, his shirt no match for his wonderous hands as he pressed her against him, pulling the shirt aside to plant a kiss on her collarbone.

“Hmm, you’re in my shirt,” Evan told her, and Violet giggled in response.

“Well, Evan, I couldn’t find my own this morning, and I think I look rather well in it, don’t you think?”

“I don’t know, I think I like you better… with no clothes on. But I must admit,” he told her, stretching out the sentence by pausing every couple of words to pepper her with kisses, “you do rock that shirt. Hmm, I’ve never seen you in your formals, have I?”

“Do you want to?” Violet asked, spinning around, reciprocating with a kiss of her own as they moved away from the stove and towards the counter, “because a certain someone nominated me for an award, and I guess I have to wear my formals next week to the ceremony. Hmm, maybe that was on purpose?”

Evan pulled back, “Now, as much as I would do anything to see you in formals, you deserve that award, Violet, we talked about this.”

“I know, I’m teasing, Chief.”

“Speaking of that, this Chief needs to go to work. And in order to do that, he’s going to need his shirt.”

“Do you really need it? I think it’s looking better on me.”

“That is not what you said last night, Mikami.”

“I said a lot of things last night. And if my memory serves right, so did you.”

“You heard?”

“Oh, I’m very attentive, Chief,” Violet responded, letting Evan lift her up onto the empty counter, legs locking him between her, giving him permission, permission that Evan happily accepted.

“You’re going to be late,” Evan managed to get out once they separated for air.

“Just me?” Violet queried, a further flurry of questions stopped when Evan moved them over to the sofa, the sheet forgotten in the kitchen, the breakfast even more so.

“Being Chief has privileges,” Evan responded, before going down on Violet, repaying her for the best sleepless night he’d had.

“Evan… oh… that’s not fair… right there… Evan…” Violet managed to get half of her thoughts out, the others washing out of her as Hawkins brought her to her release.

“Okay, now we can go,” Hawkins smiled, leaning over Violet and planting a quick kiss.

“Who said you were in charge here?” Violet questioned, pulling Evan down, tasting herself, fingers twirling in Hawkins’ hair.

“I didn’t. But in,” Evan looked at his watch, “58 minutes I will be. And I don’t think tardiness is going to look good on your record.”

“Well, it’s good I have such an attentive and caring Field Chief, then, isn’t it?” Violet smirked, sitting up, and finally giving Evan his shirt back.

“Evan, did you see my shirt by the way?” she asked, remembering the reason she’d nicked Evans.

“Nope, is it not in the bedroom?”

“Nope, I checked this morning.”

“And not anywhere here?”

“Definitely not here.”

“Okay, no problem then,” Violet declared, heading into the bedroom, before coming back in her pants and… his plaid shirt?

“Yeah, so, this is going to have to make do, that okay?”

Who was he to disagree?

“All good. See you tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow?”

“Double shift, Evan, I’ll finish at 9 am tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow it is.”

*

Tomorrow it was not.

Evan got off work, planning to head home, before deciding there were better ways to spend the evening than advance on paperwork or mindlessly stare at the TV.

He got into his car, making a pitstop before navigating down to 51 just in time to see all the rigs leave on a call.

Perfect.

“Chief? Was not expecting a visit from you today?” Boden called out as Evan walked into the station, groceries in both arms.

“Oh, no, this isn’t a work visit. Violet mentioned she’d be pulling a double shift, and I thought, well, there isn’t exactly much to do at mine so, dinner? On me?”

“Well, I will not complain on that point, Chief. I’ll see to it you get hands when Truck comes back.”

“Thank you.”

61 returned first, Sylvie staying by the ambo to take a call as Violet headed back in, her legs following the smell of food.

The only thing she’d had all day was a coffee and a sandwich, and she was ready to eat whatever at this point.

“Ev- Chief?” Violet exclaimed, the all too familiar Paramedic Field Chief the one behind the countertops.

“Ah, Violet, you are just in time. Dinner?”

“Yes. Yes, please,” she said, grabbing a plate and piling it high, before pulling up a chair to behind the counter, deciding to keep Hawkins company.

“So… tomorrow was a lie?”

“Violet, I spent all day thinking about last night and this morning. You, quite literally, occupied all of my thoughts. I had to come and see you. And, well, it was my fault we missed breakfast. Least I could do was make sure you had dinner.”

“Me and everyone else at 51?”

“There’s plenty to go around,” Evan smiled, and Violet smiled back, before stealing a quick kiss.

“Thank you.”

*

The station was deadly quiet, everyone asleep.

Well, nearly everyone.

Evan shuffled in, quietly perching on the corner of Violet’s bed, moving her hair to one side.

“Violet,” he whispered, rousing her awake.

“Is… is there a call?”

“No, no call. I just wanted to ask if you wanted to… take advantage of the quiet?”

Violet sat up – “Is Chief Hawkins asking me if we want to take advantage of the quiet here at 51?”

“It’s not like I can take you home, not yet.”

“Unfortunate that. Fortunately for you, I think I have just the place.”

*

Violet let him pin her against the wall and shrug off her grey t-shirt.

“We’re rushing, Chief,” Violet told him, slipping him against the wall, letting her hands stray under his shirt and under his waistband.

“Well, Paramedic, firstly, I think our conduct here would be frowned upon, and secondly, if the bell does go off, you need to be ready.”

“Did you not see how quickly I got ready this morning? Trust me, challenge me.”

Evan accepted, stripping Violet of her department-issued uniform, gripping her hair as he kissed her, no softness this time, just pure possessiveness.

He pulled away, but Violet pulled him back in, keeping her hands busy unbuttoning his shirt, and now her favourite shirt too. Then she made quick do with his belt and pants too, until there were no further obstacles to the inevitable. Hawkins made the first move once again, grabbing both of her hands and gripping them above her as he used his free hand to slip a finger in her, muffling her moans with a kiss.

“Guess I’m the one in charge here tonight,” he smirked against her lips, feeling Violet squirm under him, carefully attuned to him, his face betraying just how pleased he was with himself when Violet's response was reduced to a series of moans and heavy breaths.

“Evan… Chief…” She got out sometime after she rode out her first orgasm and wriggled her hands out of his grip, resting around his neck.

“Hmm, you see, everyone calls me Chief, but when you do… well, perhaps for the best we usually don’t work side by side.”

“Didn’t you tell me you were thinking of me all day? Apart or together, it seems you think of me all the time.”

“You don’t?” he asked, head falling to the left.

“I do. You know I do,” Violet told him, “especially when you’re quite literally in me.”

“Fair point,” Evan conceded, deciding to invade even more of his girlfriend as he lifted her up and eased her back onto him.

“You know, the first time I saw you, I would not have anticipated we’d end up here, doing this, right now,” Violet managed to get out before Evan picked up the pace and words weren’t exactly easy to come by.

“Good to see I’m full of surprises,” Evan told her as they both came undone in each other’s embrace, him slowly easing Violet off him, the two of them deciding that a supine position would be best.

“Well,” Violet said, leaning on her elbow, facing Evan, “I hope I’m just as full of surprises.”

“You are, Violet Mikami. And I love that about you. You keep me on my toes.”

“Hmm, you like that? I’ll remind you about that tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

“Think you can excuse your secretary for an hour tomorrow?”

“I’ll make it three if you ask.”
