Rachel Stantz’s third year at KFC. What other mischief will she get into?

Chapter 1

What really happened:

Friday, July 26th and Rachel turns 20. In the morning, she had reconciled with Tony and sends him $50, cause he promised to be in her arms by 5 pm. Will he show up or did she waste $50? If he does show up, she’s worried about what her dad will say to him, since he’s outside mowing the lawn. She’s anxious and worried about being stood up again, but helps her mom cook the birthday dinner to pass the time. Her boss also calls her in to come in at 7 pm to close drive thru. She didn’t say “no” cause she had the last four days off.

By 5 pm: Ray, Ramona, Peter, Egon, Winston and Janine show up for Rachel’s birthday party. There’s cake, brownies, donuts, spaghetti and garlic bread. She blew out her candles and wished for Tony to be by her side. She gets three diamond paintings from her parents along with a tiki water bottle from Ray, $10 from Peter and $100 from Gaylord. She goes into work at 6:30 and is grateful that her boss gave her some hours for her birthday. She finally gets off at 11 pm and she never saw Tony. He’s not even answering her texts. How shitty can you be to stand someone up on their birthday?

Saturday, July 27th and Rachel is worried about Tony. The last update she got was around 1 pm yesterday saying he was getting in his car to come see her. She went to go message him and he had blocked her and she starts crying. He does unblock her and messages her back to apologize. Of course, she accepts after admitting to car trouble and offered to borrow another $50 from cash app to pay for his car repairs. He does show her a pic that he packed the car and the car looks similar to Gaylord’s.

She comes in at 4 to close drive thru and Janine gives her a birthday card before going home. It becomes a very busy night and prep doesn’t get done. All she could think about is Tony and his potential hotness. Especially when he says he’ll be in town tomorrow…so he says. She gets home from work and is too excited to sleep and hopefully, Tony keeps his word and shows up tomorrow.

Sunday, July 28th and Rachel comes in at 2 pm to close cook. She wears a red uniform shirt to stand out for Tony just in case he shows up. He needs to stop being scared of what her dad might do to him. Especially since he’s the one that put her in debt. Not everyone in her family is as forgivable as Rachel. So does Tony show up as promised? If he does, Janine will be the first of her coworkers to actually see that he’s real. But he doesn’t show up and blocks Rachel on Facebook, breaking her heart once again. She should be used to this by now. She wanted to spend her day off tomorrow with Tony, but he broke her heart instead. Rachel leaves him a lot of emails and goes on cash app to try and get her money back.

And guess who Rachel trained as a new cook for night shift? Ed from the Good Burger movie. Yep, he traded in his cashier status at a burger joint to being a fry cook at KFC. Awesome.

Monday, July 29th. Rachel uses her last $30 to a cash app tag that Tony sent her in a last ditch effort to be with him. It goes to someone else and she cries. She has no one to blame, but herself for doing something so stupid. No wait, Tony said it’s him and he’s just pranking her. Hahaha. She’ll get him back for that…someday. Anyways, the $30 went through, but Tony has it pending on his end. Until that goes through, that’s $30 she just wasted.

Wednesday, July 31st and payday for Rachel. She gets $520 and gives her parents $260. $75 went to her phone bill and the rest to buy groceries and school supplies for Zoey. She gets texts from a guy named Frank off Facebook dating who wants to drive two hours, so they could meet up and have sex. That’s until she brings up the fact that she lives with her parents and he tells her to wear a thong, cause he wants to fuck her in his car. Good thing this guy doesn’t know where she lives. They do plan to go on a date after she gets off work tomorrow. Anyways, a cook got fired and Rachel agreed to cover his shifts on Saturday and Sunday. She also ends up falling asleep at church and she’s so embarrassed.

Thursday, August 1st and Rachel comes in at 9:30 am to open cook. She is worried she might see the Frank guy from Facebook dating and if she does, she’ll tell her parents she’s working late. No way she’s introducing them to a one-night stand. Also, she would feel guilty, cause it would feel like she’d be cheating on Tony. Anyways, she gets off the clock an hour early and goes home staying loyal to Tony. After cleaning the chicken trays in the cooler and having the scent of raw chicken, she goes home to get a well deserved shower. After a shower, she thinks of a question to ask Tony.

Rachel: (text) I have a question or two. If we parted ways, you’d mysteriously would have the money to pay me back, but since we didn’t, you need my financial help to move in with me. That makes no sense to me.

Tony: (text) What are you saying? You want us to part ways or something?

Rachel: (text) That’s not what I asked, but whatever.

And then shrugs and Rachel goes on with her day.

Friday, August 2nd and Rachel accompanies her dad to get Zoey registered for school and goes to Walmart, cause she got food stamps and got a lamp at a rummage sale. She likes it, cause it look like a vintage palm tree. She goes into work at 4 to close drive thru. It was a very busy day and it got to a point where Rachel ignored three cars in drive thru while trying to caught up with the cars she already pulled. She hopes she won’t get in trouble for it, but luck isn’t always on her side. Especially since she told her supervisor she ignored three cars on purpose while they got orders caught up. She gets done with her stuff by 11 pm and dreads coming in tomorrow to pull a double.

Saturday, August 3rd and Rachel comes in at 9 AM to open cook til 4, then switches over to drive thru to close at 10:30. She has to do the same thing tomorrow. Why did she agree to this is beyond insane, but there was no one else to open cook. Will she get in trouble by her boss about last night? Nope, it wasn’t even brought up. That doesn’t mean she could get away with it again. Anyways, she accidentally gets the crispy and original flour mixed up. Oops.

Anyways, she switches over to drive thru at 4 and it becomes another busy day. This time, Rachel calls in Janine Melnitz to come in and help during the rush. She also didn’t have cars purposely waiting by the speaker til they get mad and drive off. Nope, not taking the risk on that again. It also becomes another late night of breaking down and not getting off the clock until 11 pm. It’s so frustrating, especially since she has to open cook tomorrow.

Sunday, August 4th and Rachel wakes up to her feet still sore from the last two days of working. She really hopes to have the day off tomorrow, so she could focus on relaxing. If not, she’ll be very annoyed. She comes in at 9 am to open cook and Sundays are usually busy and double the chicken has to be cooked. At least she is working with Janine and Deborah for day shift to keep her from going insane. She also has forgotten to bring a clean shirt to change into when she transitions from cook to drive thru.

When the schedule comes out, she finds out that she has to open cook tomorrow. Ugh, really? She knows Ed doesn’t leave her any flour the last two times she opened after he closed. She also just wants to rest. Now she transitions to drive thru as Ed is her relief as night cook. Luckily, it wasn’t a very busy night and Rachel gets her stuff done by 10:30. Ed was the cook and gets his stuff done 30 minutes before she does. She taught him how to close fast. She’s not happy she has had to work two 13 hour shifts back to back, then has to open cook the next morning. At least she has four hours overtime, but her feet hurt.

Monday, August 5th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 am to open cook. She’s flat out exhausted and her feet hurt from working two double shifts in a row. At least Ed left her flour this time. When she’s asked to sweep the parking lot, she sits outside for a couple minutes, feeling completely wiped out. All she wants is an easy day at work. When she gets her break, 30 minutes isn’t a long enough break to rest her feet. At 4, her dad and Zoey wants to go grocery shopping after she gets off work, knowing she needs a shower and to rest her feet. Good thing that Rachel has a day off tomorrow, cause she needs all the rest she can get. She’ll spend it diamond painting and texting Tony. Well, mostly texting Tony.

Wednesday, August 7th and while texting Tony, he tells her that she’s being too clingy and it’s annoying. Well, she told him to prove that she isn’t so clingy, to not text him for a while and his response was “whatever.” She loves Tony and it’s so hard not to text him. Let’s see how long this silent treatment lasts. Not long, cause she loves Tony and can’t go too long without texting him. He also sends her a couple voice clips and she’s instantly aroused. One was him trying not to laugh and the other telling Rachel how much he loves her. That night, she goes to church and this time, she doesn’t fall asleep during service. She also sees that Roger guy there, but doesn’t say anything to him. She knows it would feel like cheating on Tony.

Thursday, August 8th and Zoey calls her father, Gaylord to ask him when he’s going to visit her this summer, since school starts back up on the 14th. Rachel also goes into work at 4 pm to be on front counter. Something she hasn’t done for a while and she gets to wear her new work shoes. It does become a busy night and that’s good that Rachel isn’t bored. In the beginning of July, she texted Gaylord in confidence that she had a dream that they got back together. Well, he told Zoey about it a month later and now Rachel’s parents assume she wants to get back with her ex. Rachel denies the rumor and deletes any text messages that mention her dream to Gaylord. Why? Cause it’s embarrassing. When Rachel gets off work at 9, she takes a nice long shower and is glad she’s off tomorrow.

Saturday, August 10th and Rachel goes into work at 3 to close drive thru. She estimates how much she’s getting paid and asks Tony if it’s $30 he still needed and not more. He said $50 just to be on the safe side. The tooth she’s been having trouble with for over two years is starting to chip away. Not even two hours on the clock and her supervisor sends her on a long break to reduce labor. She uses that time to send numerous texts to Tony. When she does come back from an hour break, Deborah goes on break and then business gets so slammed, Deborah calls in Janine for back up. Rachel manages to get off work and home by 11 pm and just changes her shirt for tomorrow.

Sunday, August 11th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. She’s happy that Ed is leaving her flour now for days she opens cook. She has laid out all her pans last night, cause she knows she has a lot to cook on Sundays. It becomes a stressful day for every time she cooks original chicken, it looks burnt and this makes her want to cry. She’s really not trying to suck at her job. She filters the fryer and that helped a little with frying the chicken. I mean, it looks a little better. She gets off work at 4, takes a shower and spends the rest of the day relaxing and texting Tony.

Chapter 2

Monday, August 12th and KFC has three new sauces for the saucy nuggets promotion. Once of which that Rachel is willing to try and that’s the Honey Garlic. The others are Chipotle Ranch and Mango Habanero, which seems too spicy to try. Rachel tries the Chipotle Ranch first and likes it. Rachel hears the Mango Habanero is really spicy and avoids it. The Honey Garlic is what Deborah tells her is spicy as well. But Rachel is more drawn to the chipotle ranch. Speaking of which, the boss says whoever stole a bottle of chipotle ranch is getting fired. Anyways, Rachel convinces her boss to change the original fryer oil and the chicken looks way better. More of her tooth chips away. More like it disintegrated in her mouth. Anyways, she gets off at 4 and spends the rest of the day texting Tony.

Tuesday, August 13th and Rachel comes in at 10 am to do front counter. She had actually switched with another coworker to get Thursday off. Also, more of Rachel’s tooth falls out, so there’s only half of it left. Thankfully there’s no pain. Rachel also helps the cook get caught up too and she helps Janine with prep. She tries the Honey Garlic sauce and shrugs. She likes Chipotle Ranch better. After she gets off work at 4, her and Tony text each other plans about meeting up this week. That always doesn’t work out, but Rachel never gives up. She thinks if she gave up on Tony, that’s time and money she’s wasted. She also really, really loves Tony. She goes to bed feeling restless about tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 14th and it’s Zoey’s first day as an 8th grader. Rachel gets paid $684 and $63 automatically comes out of her account to pay back her loan from cash app. This leaves her with $622 and screenshots that amount to send to her parents before giving them $300 and putting $72 towards her phone bill. Her dad comes in her room and yells at her, demanding $85 more for the bunk beds. This made Rachel cry when only left with $114 for groceries. She spends $75 at Walmart before going into work at 2 pm to close drive thru. It was a busy night and Janine was called in to get the orders caught up. Tony even sends her a picture of his son, who is just so handsome. She can’t wait to welcome him and Tony into her life and be a family.

Thursday, August 15th. Will she see her man tonight? Whether Tony comes today or tomorrow, as long as Rachel lives with her parents, there will always be conflict and that conflict can’t always be avoided. As it turns out, Rachel gets called into work to close cook cause Ed called out, which will put her in overtime. She tries not to get upset around her coworkers when she gets an upsetting message from Tony. Tony needs $90 due to car trouble and Rachel is just so angry, she puts Tony on mute. “Don’t talk to me again unless you get on the road.” Why is fate screwing up her chances of meeting Tony? Why is fate doing this to her? I think she risked a lot for no reason. I guess she’d do anything for love. Especially something so stupid.

Saturday, August 17th and Zoey has been causing trouble and saying things when Gaylord sent Zoey $100 Walmart gift card and Rachel spent it, even buying stuff for Zoey with Rachel’s mom giving her permission. Since this is about money, it won’t be long until Rachel is exposed for giving Tony money. Rachel also goes into work at 2 pm to close drive thru. Whenever Rachel is taking a customer’s money at the window, she tells someone at the speaker to wait and they start talking anyways and she has to ask them to repeat their order, cause she really wasn’t paying attention to them while taking money and making drinks.

Anyways, it becomes a busy night and Rachel clocks out at 10:30. She goes home and goes straight to bed. But first, gets into an argument with Tony, which Rachel flips a coin. Yes, she should give up on Tony and No, they are not meant to be. So what was the last ten months about? Why was he introduced into her life in the first place? Such a waste of time and money. She needs to find somebody better and not someone who is a bum, like Tony. He’s done nothing, but caused her trouble and broke her heart.

Sunday, August 18th and Rachel starts the day by talking to a new guy on Facebook dating. Not gonna introduce him yet, unless it turns into something. She also comes in at 9 am to open cook until 4 pm, then switches over to close drive thru. Yep, it’s a 13 hour shift. In the morning, Janine and Deborah thought it would be funny to give Rachel a sex toy. Rachel has a good laugh with it and blushes. She also spends her first break talking to the guy she met on Facebook dating. They ended up deciding on a date for Tuesday. It does become busy while on drive thru and Rachel doesn’t clock out until 10:30. First thing she does is take a shower and then goes to bed. She’s got to get Zoey up for school and has to open cook at 9:30.

Monday, August 19th and the boss is on vacation. Rachel also has a child support case tomorrow and she has requested it off. Zoey is also grounded from her phone and friends for a month for causing trouble. Today, Rachel comes in at 9:30 am to open cook. She also plans more on her date with the new guy. Especially since she finds out that they are neighbors. Awesome. So they decided to hang out after work. It’s a slow day at work and she tells her coworkers all about her date. They are happy for her and hope things go well.

She gets home, takes a shower and goes over to his house. At first, Zoey would follow her and Rachel waited until she went back in the house. Rachel goes over to his house and it’s Peter Venkman. They sit outside and chat for a few minutes and then he invites her inside his house. They sit on his couch and talk for a few minutes. He has a dog, he smokes and does weed from time to time. They were gonna watch tv and he was gonna order DoorDash for the both of them. But no. Zoey comes over as a message that her dad wants her home. Rachel says no and calls her dad, who tells her to come home right away. This is embarrassing. Rachel was only talking to him. All Rachel wants is to be happy. I think it’s because of Peter’s reputation as a womanizer that Rachel’s dad finds appalling. At least Peter is understanding and wants to see her again and at least her mom understands. Will she see Peter tomorrow? Of course.

Wednesday, August 21st. First, a recap on Rachel’s date with Peter. She stayed at his house and hung out for a few hours. He even grilled burgers for the both of him. She asked her parents if they’d want to meet him and they seemed too stuck up to meet him. She shrugged and continued to hang out with Peter. When she got home, Zoey assumed they had sex and no. She’s just getting to know him. I mean, they did kiss and that’s it. That and he gave her a massage while watching Ghostbusters.

She sneaks over to his house after Zoey goes on the bus and leaves a note for her parents, so they don’t get worried. She cuddles with Peter until she has to get ready for work. No one believes that Peter can be respectful and he’s used to people misjudging him. He really likes Rachel. They have sex three times and he licks her pussy. He’s turned on when she pees on him while laughing. He then asks if they can be boyfriend and girlfriend and Rachel agrees. Tony kept trying to text her, which she tells him that she’s moved on and deletes his messages. When she goes home, her parents to get a ride to work, her dad gives her this look of disappointment. Exactly the same look when she married Gaylord.

When Rachel goes into work at 4 as front counter and bragged about Peter to her coworkers. They are glad she’s happy. Peter shows up at KFC unexpectedly and offers a ride back to his place, where he confesses his love for her, they make love and she spends the night with him. She sets an alarm to be back at her parent’s house in time to get Zoey up for school.

Thursday, August 22nd and Rachel has learned that Peter is a big freak in the sheets, which makes Rachel blush. Her dad yells at her for coming in at the crack of dawn and tells her she’s irresponsible and is being selfish about Zoey’s needs. Rachel always puts Zoey’s wants and needs first and when Rachel finds something new and interesting, she’s told that she’s being immature and selfish. Her dad has put her under house arrest for the day. Rachel has laundry anyways and is exhausted from all the sex. At least her mom is more calming and understanding, but reminds Rachel she and Peter are moving way too fast and Rachel understands. Peter asks if they could go on a date for breakfast and she’s worried about what her dad would say. Peter deserves better, than someone who needs permission from her parents all the time. But Peter loves her no matter what. She ends up going to work at 4 and closes  cook and drive thru, since the cook called out. Peter calls her on her break and he’s overthinking their relationship, cause her dad hates him for no reason. She calms him down and by saying they must fight for their relationship and he agrees. He loves her so much. She gets off work at 10:15 and takes a shower when she gets home.

Saturday, August 24th. First, recap of what happened Friday: they binge watch The Real Ghostbusters series together and he takes her out grocery shopping to get stuff that she would like to eat when she comes over. Going into Walmart, she happily holds his hand and puts her arm around him to proudly display how happy she is with Peter. When at his place, they also have freaky sex and involves a sex toy that looks like a tongue that vibrates. Peter couldn’t wait to use it. They watch Twisters and eat pizza.

Zoey then get  called out out of school for being sick and Rachel gets into a huge argument with her dad so bad, she cries when she picks Zoey up from school and vents to a cop about her home situation. Going back home, the argument continues and Rachel gets so angry, she punches the dashboard and her dad punches her in the shoulder hard enough to scare her. Zoey starts recording the conversation in the backseat and when they get home, Rachel gets comfort from Peter. Zoey even comes over to get to know Peter and his daughter, Petra. Zoey sees that Peter isn’t so bad and gets along with Petra.

Now on with Saturday. Rachel isn’t sure how she’s getting to work, since her and her dad aren’t on good terms over her relationship with Peter. She and Zoey sneak over to her parent’s house, so Rachel could get ready for work. Zoey distracts the parents with an argument, so Rachel could grab a few things and makes a run back to Peter’s house. She feels bad for leaving Zoey behind, so she texts her to ask if she’s okay. Peter happily takes Rachel to work, where she spills out all her problems to her coworkers and closes drive thru. She gets so anxious, she drops three large drinks from the drive thru window. When Peter picks her up from work, Peter takes her to his place. Rachel out of nowhere starts feeling doubts about her relationship with Peter and he starts questioning if she truly loves him or not. She does, but isn’t sure why she starts pushing him away. I mean, all they been through to keep their relationship and he starts crying.

Peter: How can you look at me for twenty minutes and not say you love me?

Rachel: I do love you.

Peter: That’s doesn’t sound sincere to me.

Rachel: I’m just going through a lot. I do love you.

Peter: Please be for real about this, cause I do love you. At any point you don’t feel the same way, don’t waste my time. I had my heart broken plenty.

Rachel: I do love you. I’m sorry.

She apologizes and they hold each other until they fall asleep.

Sunday, August 25th and Peter takes Rachel to work at 9 am. She’s not sure how she’ll get home tonight. She either calls her dad or calls Peter. She does have to get home and wake up Zoey for school tomorrow. So during the rush, Rachel gets stressed out and drops 21 pieces of breaded chicken on the floor before it reached the fryer. She gets a text from her mom saying how she wants to give Peter a chance. This makes her happy and calls Peter on her break to tell him about it. I mean, she enjoys talking to him, but he’s difficult to get off the phone. At 4, she is side packing and it gets busy. She was supposed to close cook, but since she closed for Ed on Thursday, he’s closing for her tonight and she gets off at 9. To decide who was taking her home is her dad. She became the bigger person and apologized. At home, her parents sat her down and told her that their main concern is not just Peter’s womanizing ways, it’s the fact that he smokes pot every once in a while. But she does have her parent’s support since he does treat her right. After she takes a shower, Peter calls her and they talk until she falls asleep.

Monday, August 26th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 am to open cook. She misses Peter terribly and they agree to meet up after work. It’s a slow day at work and Rachel learns about the new uniforms that KFC employees and managers will be wearing next month. She’ll have to wear a chef shirt from the new KFC catalog and managers have to wear pin striped shirts. Anyways, she gets off work at 2, goes home to change and straight over to Peter’s house. Zoey comes over too to hang out with his daughter, Petra. There is now a new argument between Rachel’s parents and Rachel accusing Peter of coming up with excuses to smoke pot. That’s not true. He’s willing to give it up for Rachel, cause he loves her so much. Peter makes dinner and they wait patiently for the kids to go to sleep, so they can have freaky sex.

Tuesday, August 27th and Rachel wakes up next to Peter. She tries calling Zoey at her parent’s house to wake her up for school. No luck so far. This is bad. Rachel should have went home and wanted Peter at the same time. Anyways, Zoey had gotten herself ready without Rachel waking her up. Rachel feels relieved and goes back to Peter’s house to watch tv and have wild sex. Rachel then had to get ready for work and goes back to her parents house where her dad takes her to work. She comes in at 4 to close drive thru and it turns out to be a very busy day and gets off work at 10:15. When she gets home, her parents tell her that Peter has texted them to tell them that he’s a good guy and that he loves Rachel. Well, let’s just say that they don’t believe that true love could happen after one week and that they are moving way too fast. Especially since Ray and his wife, Romona are against their relationship, cause of the weed.

Wednesday, August 28th and it’s payday for Rachel and it’s her only day off this week. Rachel gives her parents $485, pays off the rest of her phone bill and has $300 leftover. That’s not mad. At least she doesn’t have to give money to Tony. Anyways, she goes to Walmart to buy groceries and goes over to Peter’s house until it’s time to go to church. Peter has been invited by her parents to go to church, but honestly, he hates that her parents see him as a bum and a scrub and he’s tired of being misunderstood. He’s a decent guy. He’s a man of God. He wishes people stop judging him. He really thought his friend, Ray Stantz would actually support their relationship, but he doesn’t and isn’t sure why. Peter is a really good guy and Rachel is trying to prove it to her family.

Chapter 3

Thursday, August 29th and Rachel has spent the night with Peter. It’s like he always wants her around when she isn’t working and she’s not used to that. Especially when she’s used to sleeping alone and playing on her phone at night when he wants to cuddle. Something she explained to him. A part of her contacts her psychic friend, Tom to see if he can read a future for them. Anyways, Peter invites Rachel with him, Winston and Egon to go bust a ghost before going back to his place to watch tv and have sex. Rachel even bonds with Peter’s mom before going to work. Rachel’s dad takes her to work at 4 to close drive thru. Her supervisor lets her run front counter and close out drive thru. Since it was a busy night, she gets off work at 10:30. Also, her scammer contacts her to tell her he’s moved on, since she clearly has.

Friday, August 30th and the moment Zoey goes to school, Rachel heads over to Peter’s house. Rachel goes into work at 4 after her and Peter have freaky sex and try the 69 position. At work, Rachel gets a text from her mom who has found her another man, her dad’s friend Walter Peck. He’s an asshole and Rachel doesn’t want him and besides, she is fully committed to Peter and doesn’t want to cheat on him. She tells Peter all of this, which upsets him and he sends a text to her mom through Rachel’s phone. Did you know Peter can sing and play the guitar? Listening to him serenade to her brings Rachel to tears. She goes to his house after work and spend the night cuddling.

Saturday, August 31st and Peter treats Rachel and his daughter, Petra to McDonald’s and Dairy Queen before taking Rachel to work at 2 pm to close drive thru. Before that, Rachel and Peter have sex and watch TV. Peter hears back from Rachel’s mom, who surprisingly isn’t mad at Peter’s text. That doesn’t mean that Rachel wouldn’t get a lecture about it when she does get home. That’s what bothers her throughout the night. When her dad picks her up from work, all he could do is gripe about how Rachel doesn’t hand out discounts all day and it’s just annoying. Speaking of annoying, Peter finds Rachel on her phone a lot is annoying. Especially when he wants to spend time with her. She’s been single for two years and used to being on her phone a lot when she was single. He still asks her if she still loves and of course, Rachel says “yes”. The night was busy and Rachel is surprised she got done with her stuff by 10:15. She goes home and goes straight to Peter’s house.

Sunday, September 1st and Rachel goes in at 9:30 am to open cook. Her boss won’t let her clock in a half hour early to start cooking, encouraging her to cook faster. Rachel is bummed, but at least she tried. Also, Rachel had dyed her hair bright red and got hair dye on her hands and face. She doesn’t care. She gets the new schedule and sees she has the next three days off. She usually wouldn’t mind getting called in for extra hours, but now that Peter is in her life, he wants her quality time. She wanted a man and now she has it. Especially when he reminds her she’s not single anymore. It happens to be a busy day and gets off work at 4, where Peter plans to take her out to the lake for some fun. You know, it’s hard for her to give Peter the full attention and affection he deserves, when she thinks about the ten months she wasted talking to Tony. It’s gonna take a while for Rachel to stop thinking about him completely. She needs to spend more time with Peter and love him like he loves her.

After work, she goes straight over to Peter’s house and thinking they were going to go on a hot date, but Ray had took off with the Ecto-1. So they sit at home and watch TV. They cook dinner together and watch a movie. They make sex jokes and Rachel soon realizes that not all sex jokes are meant to be said during sex and she apologizes to Peter. They go to bed early and cuddle.

Monday, September 2nd and Labor Day. Rachel’s parents have invited Peter and Petra over the Labor Day cookout. Ray and his wife, Ramona decided to come around with their child. The cookout actually went pretty well. The whole family got to know Peter and all is well. Especially when Rachel’s dad offers Peter to go fishing. Rachel ends up going back to Peter’s house to watch tv and fall asleep.

Thursday, September 5th and for the last two days, Peter gets back the Ecto-1 so that Rachel and Peter could go on dates instead of being stuck in his house watching tv. They do get into another argument and Peter cries and asks if Rachel still loves him or does she really love him? The argument was about Tony and that’s not fair to Peter. He asks her constantly if she loves him or if there’s another guy. Of course not. She lost the right for him to not trust her on her phone. She’s not sure why she’s not feeling so loving towards him.

Peter: No way you’re choosing that scammer over me.

Rachel: I’m not. I promise you that.

He gets on his knees, crying and shaking, professing his love for her. She says he’s been making her feel insecure and he apologises. She goes back to her loving self around Peter before deciding to move in with him. Her parents are actually supporting her decision.

Rachel goes into work at 4 to close drive thru. Peter drops her off and Janine is the first to talk to her.

Janine: So, how long have you two been together?

Rachel: Two weeks.

Janine: Two weeks and you already moving in with him and trying to have a baby?

Rachel: Yeah, pretty much.

Janine: Aren’t you two moving way too fast?

Rachel: yeah, so?

Janine: Is he always up your ass? If so, you two will get on each other’s nerves and break up.

Rachel: I think we’ll be just fine.

Rachel does admit she wants time alone for a couple hours, but Peter admits that if a woman wants space, he has done something wrong. So Rachel sticks by his side and loves him. Peter visits Rachel on her break and her mom texts and asks if Peter is taking her to and from work and she said “yes”. While Rachel is enjoying Peter’s company, Janine calls her back from her break, cause they got slammed. So Peter kisses her goodbye for a few hours.

Friday, September 6th and while Rachel is moving stuff over to Peter’s house, she gets called into work five hours early. When she gets her break, she calls up Peter to hang out with her during her break. Not long during his visit, her coworkers are looking for her to clock in, cause business gets slammed. This is what happened yesterday. She also wishes her boss a happy birthday after clocking in and gives her a birthday card. It does get busy for the rest of the night and Rachel manages to get her stuff done by 10 and Peter helps her take out the trash. After she gets home, they watch a little tv and eats spaghetti before going to bed.

Saturday, September 7th and Peter sees a text from Tony, so Peter sends Tony a nasty message before blocking him.

Peter: Why was he called “my sexy husband?” Did you two ever meet?

Rachel: Heck no. It’s his nickname he chose for me.

Peter: That’s should be my nickname and not his. Besides, he doesn’t truly love you like I do, cause I would never ask you for money.

Rachel: I love you and you know that.

Peter: I love you too.

And they kiss and hug. Rachel goes into work at 2 to close cook and learns from Deborah that prep has to be done tonight or someone is getting wrote up tomorrow. Anyways, with just four people on the clock, Rachel tries her best to get her work done and some of prep done. Her phone conversation with Peter is awkward on her break. She’d be distracted with browsing on her phone instead on talking to him. It’s also been an off and on busy day and Rachel would get frustrated when her supervisor would call out chicken to cook past 9 pm, cause she had already broken down her station. She does help Deborah finish cleaning up before going home with Peter. she goes straight to bed, cause she has a 13 hour shift ahead of her.

Sunday, September 8th and Peter takes Rachel on a quick ghost-busting mission before taking her to work. Rachel comes in to open cook and brings an energy drink to prepare for a 13 hour shift as cook. The lunch rush was steady and she gets her break at 1:30. Peter comes to visit her on her break and Deborah brings her fried green tomatoes. When she gets back, there’s a big order for four, 16 piece tender meal. It does turn into a busy night and Rachel gets her second break at 8 pm. She gets off at 10 and goes home to shower with Peter. She goes to bed, feeling exhausted.

Monday, September 9th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. Her boss wants her to cook 75 chicken thighs and 125 chicken nuggets for an order at 11 am. She had already put aside all the thighs aside yesterday. She comes in and has to deal with a coworker dissing how bad her cooking was yesterday and Rachel just dismisses it. Plus the same coworker who can’t wait for Rachel to finish her break, which is annoying. Peter texts her while on break to discuss night plans after she gets off work. Board games with Petra and his older daughter, Raven. It’s going to be a full house tonight and Rachel invites Zoey over. When Rachel gets off work at 4, she’s glad to have the next two days off. She’s just exhausted and needs to rest.

Actually, Peter gets mad at Rachel for not standing up for him when Zoey comments on how his house smells like cigarettes. He starts to doubt his future with Rachel and starts pushing her away when Zoey was rude. Even though Rachel says nothing, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about Peter’s feelings. She cares deeply and ponders on what to say or do next. Rachel spends the rest of the night cheering up Peter and spending time with his two daughters.

Wednesday, September 11th and Peter had helped Rachel move the rest of her stuff in his house. It’s also her payday and her parents are expecting half her paycheck and Peter wants her to start paying off the bank. Anyways, her and Peter argue about their relationship. Rachel was pushing Peter away purposely over the fact that Zoey won’t move in with her and Peter. Peter breaks down and starts crying and as Rachel was getting her clothes, she breaks down crying and holds onto Peter, apologizing and tearing up. She really doesn’t wanna leave Peter, cause he’s been nice to her and she loves him. They go to the lake to go swimming to end the summer.

Rachel’s paycheck is $734 and gives her parents $367 and pays half her phone bill, which leaves her with $292 for groceries. She makes a bet with Peter to see if her parents will text her for an extra $85. Anyways, Rachel gets a toothache and gets into another huge argument with Peter. He cries, cause he thinks Rachel doesn’t love him and it takes a lot of apologies, comfort and reassurance towards Peter to calm him down and they snuggle together. It didn’t help when the two cause self harm to prove their love for each other. That did scare Rachel to the point of wanting to walk away, but Peter is emotionally damaged and needs her more, than ever.

But here’s the thing, Peter is self destructive and it scares Rachel. To beg for Rachel’s love, he punches himself in the face three times, causing a black eye and a busted lip. This frightens Rachel and Petra. Rachel slaps herself and pulls out her hair and Petra tries to calm them down, but Peter screams at his daughter to leave. Peter then runs headfirst into a door and threatens suicide if Rachel ever left him. He shows her the cuts on his leg from previous suicide attempts. He said he and his ex got into a fist fight months ago and now plans to get back with her if Rachel left. Rachel chooses to stay with him…for now.

Thursday, September 12th and Rachel still has a toothache. Peter takes her to CVS to get stuff for her tooth. Peter then takes her to rapid care to get her a prescription for antibiotics. She gets a doctor’s recommendation to call out of work, but her boss won’t let her, since she’s the cook. Peter is furious that they are making Rachel go to work when she has a tooth infection, in serious pain and has a doctor’s note. Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook, since Ed quit. Yeah, like that’s her fault. She sits down in the lobby and is worried about what her boss would say to her. I mean, with antibiotics and Tylenol in her system, she’s still tired and worried when the medication will wear off. Her boss approaches her and Rachel explains that the time she called in, she was in excruciating pain. Her boss approaches and even brings up why she didn’t come in Tuesday morning when she was being called in.

Rachel brings it up with her coworkers about how bad Peter really is behind closed doors. It’s so bad, Rachel is afraid to go back to his house. But Janine tells her that the last girl he was with, they had a fist fight and Rachel didn’t want that. Rachel had to go home and pretend to love Peter. Tomorrow is her day off and has time to plan her escape.

Saturday, September 14th and Rachel has left Peter. She pretends to love Peter until he went on ghost busting mission, then packed up all her shit and left. Her dad parked out front of his house to help her escape. She had forgotten that Peter had cameras set up around the house to spy on her and calls her up while she’s escaping. She ends up forgetting her work hat and a few movies. Oh well. While at home, her parents tell her no dating for a very long time. Especially since she might be pregnant with Peter’s baby. That she won’t know for another week. It does feel good to be back home. Gaylord gives her $250 in alimony for leaving Peter and Zoey a $200 gift card for Target.

Gaylord: (text) Another scrub bites the dust.  I'll send you $250 to celebrate.

She goes into work at 2 pm to be side pack and close cook. Her coworkers are glad she’s out of trouble. Her coworkers ask if she’s okay and tells them how she escaped Peter’s house, even though he had security cameras in the house. She left a few things, but oh well. She’ll just have to replace them: like her two work hats and new name tag, her work shoes, a couple pillows and some movies. She came home to sleep on the floor, but that’s better than sleeping next to a man she doesn’t love.

Sunday, September 15th. Rachel has messaged back Tony and he wants nothing to do with her now. She doesn’t blame him. Especially when she rubbed Peter in his face. She goes into work at 9 am to work a double shift as cook. With her coworkers, she tells them how grateful she is that her parents took her back in and the fact that she has started making amends with Zoey, who thought Rachel abandoned her for Peter. Thats not true, cause Peter was controlling. Her parents told her that she could have left him at anytime, even if she did try to leave him. She left him without calling the cops. She now faces the fact she’ll have to eat humble pie for a while, especially since she made Peter out to be a good man.

Chapter 4

Summary:

Details about what happened during those three weeks between Rachel and Peter.

Tony’s car had broken down and Rachel took that as a sign that they aren’t meant to be and browsed on Facebook dating until she came across Peter Venkman. She knew Peter. He was kind, gentle and funny. They texted each other on Facebook dating before realising they were neighbours and decided to meet up. After a work day, she showers before going over to his house and is immediately comfortable. I mean, it’s Peter Venkman. Her dad calls her back home, cause she has responsibilities in Zoey.

It was August 21st, Rachel and Peter decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. He tells her about his past as a meth addict and being part of a domestic abuse scandal. That and the fact that he smoked pot. She didn’t let all that bother her, even if his past and habits were creating a rift between her and her family. She argued with her family that Peter is a good guy and just because he has a past, doesn’t make him a bad person. She wouldn’t have made such a big deal about him if she didn’t have strong feelings for him, right? He plays guitar for her and plays love songs to make Rachel start thinking of Tony and start crying. She misses Tony.

Rachel is eventually introduced immediately to Peter’s mom and youngest daughter, Petra. Rachel felt comfortable going over his place during the day, but slowly adjusted to sleeping beside him when she was so used to sleeping alone. She liked to sleep in her clothes and he preferred either sleeping naked, half naked or wearing pyjamas. She likes playing on her phone at night while lying in bed, but he prefers that she should break that habit. She’s not a single woman anymore. Peter also likes to have sex a lot and pretty much every day. Whether Rachel was in the mood or not, Peter’s feelings are what matters and admits to not using condoms as a personal choice. So if Rachel ended up pregnant, so be it. First night she stayed over, he asked Rachel if she loves him, cause he has said “I love you” during the first week and was expecting Rachel to say it. She stayed silent, not feeling the same way at the same time, which confused him. She lied that she loved him, so they could sleep peacefully.

On one day out, she goes out with him to get his car washed and asked her to help, instead of being on her phone. Okay, fine. Then he accuses her of checking out other guys, which makes her stay quiet while they were just out on a drive. Let’s mention he doesn’t like silent car rides. He doesn’t understand why she’s silent unless she tells him what’s wrong, but chooses to stay quiet. But she does bring up the fact that she has been talking to Tony for ten months and it will take time to get over him. She has told him about Tony before, but this time, he got jealous. The conversation gets heated. At his house, he threatened that if she chooses Tony over him, that he’ll tell her family that she chose to be with a scammer, so she stays with him. Instead of understanding, he got jealous, so Rachel had to text Tony goodbye at work.

Tony was always Rachel’s shame and no one else would understand or want her because of him. Tony felt betrayed and would never want to speak to Rachel again for flaunting her relationship with Peter on Facebook for him to see. This makes Tony heartbroken enough to lie to Rachel and tell her he met someone too and they’re already engaged to be married. She gets jealous and stops talking to Tony for a few days. Later, she finds out that he lied about all that.

She tries to leave Peter, but he embraces her, kissing her and professes his love for her. He goes through her phone to message Tony and call him a scammer and forces Rachel to block him on Facebook. At work, she texts Tony to explain to him what happened and says they should stop texting each other, cause Peter checks her phone.

Her and Peter went on dates and things were fine. He’s perfect, I mean he can cook, sing and play a guitar, which is something Gaylord couldn’t do. I mean, Gaylord gave them a blessing. Zoey was coming around to the idea that Rachel is happy. Two weeks into their relationship and things are still hot and heavy. They have a lot in common. He and Petra were invited to the family Labor Day dinner with her family. She proved her whole family wrong about him being a bad person, cause of his past. The family event well and Rachel moves more of her stuff over to Peter’s. That’s when he became something totally different.

Second week of September: He invited his older daughter and her fiancée to stay for a couple days. Rachel invited Zoey over to meet them and Peter blew cigarette smoke in her face when she sat next to him on the couch. This made Zoey uncomfortable enough to go home and Rachel felt bad and watched her leave. Peter got infuriated and insulted, cause Zoey commented on the insane amount of weed and cigarette smoke in the house that made her sick and left. Rachel ended up defending Peter, even though Peter got mad and tried to push Rachel away and making her cry. Instead of going home to her family, she stayed with Peter and played board games with him and his kids. He got drunk enough to start singing “Everything I do” by Bryan Adams to Rachel and she chimes in to make it a duet. They hug and kiss to make up for the fact they had an argument.

September 10th and Rachel gets called into work by her boss to open cook. Peter wants her to spend time with him and his oldest daughter while she’s in town, then adds “the boss can handle it.” She lost her hours and trust from her boss. Peter doesn’t care. It’s important to him that she stays home with him. She even orders pizza for him and his daughters and future son in law and watch a family movie together.

September 11th and Peter wants to take Rachel to the lake, so sends off his daughters at his mom’s house. For some reason, Rachel felt argumentative. She’s feeling smothered by Peter and just wants some alone time. This confuses Peter and assumes she just wants to break up. Rachel just gets fed up and starts getting her clothes packed. Peter comes in crying and holding her close, begging her to stay and she does. She admits that she just misses her family and especially Zoey and he accepts the explanation…for now. He does let her see her family and to get more stuff. She gets called into work and when she gets home, she watches tv with Peter and Petra. Peter gets out his guitar and starts playing. He gets up and beckons her to the back room, where they argue about Rachel not loving him. She apologizes and out of nowhere, he punches himself in the face three times, nearly blacking his left eye and busts his lip. Rachel slaps herself hard enough to make her cry and starts pulling out her hair to prove she can be just as crazy as he is. It didn’t work, since she didn’t do much damage to herself.

Petra tries to calm them both down, but that makes Peter angry and screams at his daughter to mind her business and blames her for all his relationships not working out. He calls his mom to come pick her up and he drags Rachel into the back bedroom where he tries to get Rachel to apologize and love him. When her response wasn’t immediate, he runs headfirst into the bedroom door. Then he threatens to kill himself if she left.

Peter is confusing. He doesn’t want her to leave and wants her love, yet he is ready to get back with his ex. She has secretly recorded their conversation. He admitted to hitting himself first, the fact he got into a fist fight with an ex and that he was already texting an ex to get back with her. Oh wow. Nothing she says makes a difference, cause her answers seem to annoy him. So, she sits in silence and that also annoys him. She eventually becomes the bigger person, apologizes and gives him fake love, so they could go to bed peacefully.

September 12th and Rachel has a toothache. It’s so bad, Peter takes her to Rapid Care and gets her a prescription for antibiotics. He wants her to call out of work, so she could rest while taking her medication. She tries to, even with a doctor’s note. He gets mad, cause she chose to go into work anyways, cause she started to feel better after taking her prescription. At work, she tells her coworkers what happened with Kevin last night and they advised her to leave him. At first, she’s scared to go home and calls her parents to move back in and tells them what happened with Peter. They agreed to let her move back in. Her supervisor recommends she pretend like everything is okay, so when he goes to work, she gets her stuff out of the house. That’s what she does.

Friday, September 13th and she pretends that everything is normal with Peter and this time, Petra is there and she wonders how to escape with all her stuff with his daughter there. She’s feeling so nervous and prays he leaves to go to work and he does. Rachel texts her dad to come get her and buy the time she gets most of her stuff together, her dad has the jeep pulled up and the hatch open. She grabs what she could remember to take, loads it in her dad’s car and leaves. She has forgotten all about the security cameras set up around the house and he was texting her and calling her constantly to ask what she was doing.

In this process, she forgot a few things, but that’s okay. She can replace it. Petra even texts her to ask why she moved out and Rachel said “your dad is a psychopath and I couldn’t be forced to love him anymore.” And stops talking to her after that. Peter gets mad at her for leaving. Rachel texts him to tell him “it’s over.” Before blocking him on Facebook and blocking his number. When Rachel is relieved to be home, she realizes that she has a lot of mending to do with her family. That’s her fault for choosing Peter over her family. She even slept on the floor the first night, cause she felt like she deserved it. At least it is better, than sleeping with Peter.

If she didn’t really love Peter, why did she move in with him? Why did she pretend to love him? He was really nice to her at first and very genuine. She was afraid to show him her true feelings and she wanted to prove her family wrong about him so bad. She also thought her love would grow for Peter. Apparently not. Even though they would get along so well and have a lot in common. What caused the downfall of their relationship? Was it Rachel’s fault or Peter’s? Now that she’s back at home, she wonders what went wrong.

Chapter 5

Monday, September 16th and Rachel comes in at 9 AM to open cook. She realizes she left her proton pack at Peter’s house too. Considering how she abandoned her family for Peter, she deserves to sleep on the floor. At work, her boss is happy to see the Rachel without the Peter who was trying to sabotage her job. She texts him to ask for her stuff back, but he snaps at her.

Peter: (text) The cameras was here before you ever came and it's super wrong to tell my daughter that her father is a psychopath. That made Petra hate you immediately. I've never even bad mouthed her mom who abandoned her, because that's her mom and you don't belittle a child's parent to them. Also what makes u think I have another girlfriend already? I didn't know you was so delusional or I'd never talked to you in the first place. That night you were hitting yourself first.

Rachel: (text) I never hit myself first. You hit yourself first. Oh my gosh. I’m glad I left. I knew about the other girlfriend, cause my mom saw your tik tok of you and your ex and you two were happy.

At work, Rachel later accidentally drops 80 biscuits on the floor while finishing prep. Anyways, she’s been having pre-pregnancy symptoms, like nausea, morning sickness and heartburn. It’s still too early to tell, cause there were times she thought she was pregnant in the past. Also, Janine thought it was funny to put a chicken nugget instead of a chicken strip on a chicken slider sandwich. Rachel had to remake it and laughed. Anyways, she goes to Walmart with her dad to buy some groceries and a couple pregnancy tests. She just needs to know, cause the suspense is driving her crazy. When she gets home from the store, she learns that Tony won’t be talking to her anymore if she’s pregnant by Peter.

Tuesday, September 17th and Rachel has been upgraded to having a bed. A twin bed, but at least she’s not sleeping on the floor. She still texts Tony. He still loves her, but it will be a while before he could get over the fact that she was in a sexual relationship with Peter Venkman. She takes an early pregnancy test after Zoey leaves for school and the results are negative. Either it’s still too early to tell or she’s not pregnant. She feels bummed and excited at the same time. She DoorDashes Arby’s for lunch, getting a double beef cheddar sandwich, large curly fries and a medium Jamocha shake. Peter even quietly returns her stuff in a box and on the front porch. She texts him an apology, thanks him for returning her stuff and says goodbye. At the same time, trying to make things right with Tony and craving Root Beer.

At work, Rachel comes in at 4 pm to close drive thru. Rachel is getting texts from a Harold guy she met on Facebook dating during the summer. She had forgotten all about him after he ghosted her after they had phone sex. Now he’s looking to hook up and she’s really not up to it, since she had just broken up with Peter. Anyways, Rachel was put on front counter and left to close out drive thru. One of the cooks accidentally spill a bunch of oil all over the floor and even though he had to clean it up, he and Rachel thought it was funny. She gets her work done by 10:30 and relaxes while watching tv. At least tomorrow is her day off.

Thursday, September 19th and Rachel is texting Tony. He says he’s back in Missouri and they have missed their chance to be together. He wants more money before they meet up. That’s the thing about Tony. He wants $150 and she’s trying to put money back for the bank. She loves Tony and she loves him even more when he doesn’t ask her for money. She even thinks more about Peter. She wanted sex and fought to get it. It really wasn’t supposed to go as far as meeting his family and him falling in love with her. Shit happens.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close cook. Managers and coworkers are already discussing group Halloween costumes and this year, the theme is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Guess what Rachel’s costume is? Dopey, cause that’s her personality. Anyways, it does get busy the moment Rachel goes on break. Good thing she has put down some chicken first. Deborah buys her an ice cream sundae from Dairy Queen for helping her with the dishes. Rachel gets her stuff done by 10 pm and goes home to shower and relax. At least tomorrow, she has a day off.

Saturday, September 21st and Rachel prays she gets her period and not to be pregnant with Peter’s baby. Speaking of which, she had time to think about Peter and she realized how immature she was being and not knowing how to handle a serious relationship. I mean, let’s not say he didn’t do anything wrong. Rachel just didn’t know how to let go of her freedom of being single and know how to completely let go of Tony, so she made an excuse to leave by making him angry enough to scare her. Now it’s too late to fix things with Peter or if Peter would take her back. Tony is also being silent and that usually means he’s mad or super busy.

Rachel goes in at 2 pm to close cook. She has yet to start her period, but it’s still today. If she is pregnant, her parents have discussed the fact that she’s had unprotected sex and not married. But Rachel does want to keep the baby, even if it does belong to Peter. By the end of the night, she helps Janine close and get out by 10 pm. When she goes home, she still hasn’t gotten her period. Either she could be late or pregnant.

Sunday, September 22nd and Rachel has to work a double shift as cook. Rachel gets the new schedule and it’s the exact same days and hours as this week. On her first break, she gets a craving for mint Oreo ice cream at Dairy Queen. Remember Bobby Fletcher? Rachel had real love feelings for him and he decided to stand her up. She sees him and another woman on a date at KFC. She gets upset and leaves the lobby in jealousy. She sits in the office and cries until her break is over. She ends up closing with Deborah and gets out by 10:15.

Monday, September 23rd and today, KFC starts wearing new uniforms. Managers have to wear red pin stripes and tuck in their shirts. Employees wear Original Recipe labeled shirts and cooks wear a black chef shirt. Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook and wearing her new cook shirt feeling confident. Bobby Fletcher and Peter Venkman haunt her dreams in a stalkerish way. With Bobby, it was more romantic. Her period is yet to be seen and is planning on buying a pregnancy test after work. During work, this is the third day in a row that customers only buying the breast meat and Rachel having to cook a bag of chicken just for breast meat. It’s funny and annoying. When she gets home, her mom makes cheeseburgers and Rachel feels the urge to throw up…it’s probably morning sickness.

Wednesday, September 25th and the results of Rachel’s pregnancy test is negative, but she is confused. She’s four days late and has early symptoms. She tells her mom about it and at first, the mom gets upset and when the dad walks in, he’s surprisingly calm. There’s nothing they can actually do, since he figured if it’s God’s plan. But Rachel was stupid enough to have unprotected sex and has to live with the consequences. They want her to wait until she’s a week late before getting a blood test at the doctor’s office, cause it’s more accurate.

Rachel also gets paid $757 and gives her parents $455 and $75 towards her phone bill, which leaves her with $227. Tony wants $150, but she just can’t. She needs to put money back for the bank and it was a nightmare to borrow the money to pay back. Besides, Tony has made it clear that if she is pregnant by Peter, he wants nothing to do with her. Rachel had errands to run, like get groceries and stuff and didn’t have time to reply. She ends up spending $127 at Walmart and puts $57 in her savings account, which leaves her with $40. Rachel finally sees more texts from Tony, who thinks she’s ignoring him intentionally. She has to think. She doesn’t want a man who wants her to have an abortion if she is pregnant by Peter. This child could be a miracle from God and she’s not getting rid of it for a man who has broke her heart many times in 11 months. Then he changes his story to get his hands on $150 by accepting her, pregnant or not.

Thursday, September 26th and Rachel takes another pregnancy test and the result is negative. She’s confused, cause her period is still late and has the symptoms. Even her boobs are feeling heavy and sore. Also, Rachel borrows $150 from cash app and gives it to Tony as two separate gift cards. She’ll have to pay that money back out of her Savings account.

Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. Will she see Tony tonight at work? Nope. He stood her up again. Why can’t Rachel have a happy ending? It becomes a very busy night and Rachel was getting frustrated, cause she was getting hungry and decides to cut a few corners, when it comes to cleaning, so she’d be clocked out by 10:15, cause she has to pull a double. Sunday, September 29th and Rachel has to pull a double shift as cook. Rachel is debating to cut Tony out of her life, cause he’s stressing her out. If she’s pregnant, she doesn’t need the stress. Lunch time is busy, but dinner time was steady. Rachel is exhausted just cooking and at least she gets to close with Deborah. The benefits of being at work all day is having all day to get her side work done and get out early tonight. Monday, September 30th and Rachel finally hears back from Tony. He took her $150 and was never coming to see her. When he found out about her relationship with Peter Venkman, he was looking to settle the score. Get her to trust him all over again and after giving him the money, he said “fuck you, I blew your money,  don’t ever contact me again, you cheating whore.” It technically wasn’t cheating, since they never met, but whatever. But what about all those other times he’d promised to meet her and broke her heart? What was that payback for? One last scam to seal the deal I guess. They eventually do make up and start talking again by the end of the day. But then he’s silent to her the next day. He’s so confusing.

Wednesday, October 2nd and Rachel is a week and a half late on her period and still has pregnancy symptoms. She’s nervous about taking a pregnancy test and the results are negative. Her body must be playing tricks on her and it isn’t nice. She’s worried about going into work tonight to close drive thru and Janine asking if she’s pregnant or not or if she’s taken a pregnancy test. Rachel wishes to not talk about anything pregnancy related at work, cause she’s embarrassed about her period being a week and a half late, having the symptoms and a negative test. To be honest, she wants something to brag about. She does start spotting, so her period might be starting.

Her parents don’t want Peter to know that Rachel was pregnant with his child, cause he is a womanizer and a pot smoker and they don’t want that kind of influence on the child. She used Peter for sex and feels very bad about it. I mean, he was willing to treat her like a queen and she pushed him away, cause she was still in love with Tony the scammer. Now Tony doesn’t want her either, cause she slept with Peter. Now they both hate her and it sucks.

Thursday, October 3rd. Rachel finally gets her period and comes in at 4 to close cook. Actually, she comes in at 1 pm, cause a cook had quit. That just leaves her and another cook until someone else gets hired. She does borrow money from Cash App to buy her Halloween costume for this year. She’s feeling more interested in Beetlejuice, than Dopey from Snow White. She is bummed that her body played tricks on her to make her think she was pregnant. Friday, October 4th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. She hates the fact that it’s truck day and has to put away heavy boxes of inventory. She even gets to train a new cook named Phil to be the new day shift cook. This is a good day. Chapter 6

Sunday, October 6th. Over the weekend, Rachel gets frustrated for the first time while training the new cook. She wanted to cry, cause she’s having to do most of the cooking by herself during a lunch rush. Once business slows down, he goes to break and she calms down and focuses on training him until the end of their shift. He already wants to trade days with her and that’s frustrating. Once she gets back from her break, she’s more focused and can train him properly.

Now it’s Sunday and she has to train the new cook to close. She comes in at 9 to pull a double as well. One thing has put her mind at ease was hearing from Tony. He’s just tired of the texting and wants to meet up. That’s fine, but texting is her only communication with him and to not hear from him drives her crazy. Her friend, Deborah has suggested her husband’s brother as a potential boyfriend for Rachel. The thing is, he’s the type that likes to take things slow and that is just what Rachel needs. Now back to looking forward to training the new cook on how to close. She thought he was gonna give her a hard time, but no. He actually does pretty well. I mean, he has questions for Rachel and that’s okay. One of the managers think she’s not training him well enough to be on his own in a couple days. Rachel thought he’d get fed up and quit, but he’s proven her wrong. The thing is, she was there to bail him out on a busy day and he’ll be on his own next time. He still doesn’t know how to change filter pads and lay chicken out on trays. He’ll figure it out eventually.

October 7th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. Today, the chicken strips get floured in original seasoning instead of crispy. Also, new Comeback sauce and cherry pie bites. Rachel also has a cold and has body aches with chills and coughing. She takes Alka-Seltzer and waits for the medicine to kick in. Tony also has been ignoring her for the last two days and she feels lonely. She gets off work at 4 and also doesn’t want to deal with Zoey getting her nose pierced without her permission. She hates awkward situations.

October 9th and it’s payday for Rachel. She gets paid $816 and gives her parents $465. She pays $75 towards her phone bill, which leaves her with $220. Also her Beetlejuice costume came in the mail. She goes in at 2 pm to close drive thru, only to hear from her boss that Rachel was terrible at training the last cook, cause he’s terrible at cooking chicken and changing the filter pads. Rachel explains that either cooks will listen or they won’t. She got one that couldn’t remember everything she told him. She is given another chance to train another cook, especially since the last one was a complete failure. Also, a guy claiming to be actor Dan Aykroyd is texting Rachel on Facebook messenger. She blocked him and remember Signal Tony? The guy pretending to be Tony and a true scammer. He meets her on a Telegram app. They chat a bit before Rachel blocks him again.

October 10th and Rachel shows up at work at 9 am to open cook and to pull a double to close cook as well. She trains another cook, Kenshaan, who does better than the old guy. She tells her boss it’s not her training style, it’s the person who doesn’t want to learn and her boss agrees. The new cook leaves at 4 and Rachel stays to close. By the time she gets her stuff done, she wastes no time to go home and wait for other coworker. I mean, she pulled a double and couldn’t wait to go home. Otherwise, she would have stayed and helped.

October 12th and Rachel is still sick with body aches and chills and coughing. This has been going on for a week. I mean, she’s had a cold before, but the body aches and chills never lasted this long. She also has been secretly texting Signal Tony, who is now Telegram Tony and she asks him would he ask her for money if he wanted to visit her? He said “no, why? Rachel goes into work at 2 PM to close cook and train the new cook how to close. Since he likes to clean, he’ll like night shift. Cook Phil gets fired. It’s a busy night and she spends most of the night coughing. She’s glad to finally get off work, so she could go home and rest and get better.

October 13th and Rachel wakes up still sick and her parents gave her some medicine to take before work and medicine to take during her double shift. She’s worried about how she would cook all that chicken on a Sunday morning feeling sick and since she’s feeling the effects of the medication, she does just fine until the rush hits and her medication has worn off. She got body aches, chills, she was feeling lightheaded and weak and feels like I couldn’t stand, so she collapsed while holding a 25 pound bag of flour. The rush dies down, so she takes more medicine and goes on break.

When she comes back from break, Janine tells her that she has called the boss and told her about how she collapsed in the cook station and said that Rachel should at least stay until all her stuff is cleaned and can go home. She ends up clocking out at 9:30. At home, she continues texting Telegram Tony, who wants to meet up with her tomorrow and he isn’t asking her for money to book a trip. Will he show up or stand her up?

Monday, October 14th and Rachel wants to spend her grocery money at Walmart and get a doctor’s appointment to find out what kind of sickness she has. It’s actually the flu. And does Telegram Tony show up? She actually cancels and postpones the meeting until she gets better. He agrees with her. Rachel also gets her new schedule to see that she has two double shifts. At least she doesn’t have to open next Sunday, but does have to close. Since she’s off tomorrow too, she decides to use the time to get better. And she blocks Tony Paul on Facebook.

Wednesday, October 16th and Rachel has been sick for ten days and it’s not going away anytime soon. Telegram Tony wants to meet her, but she has to decline, cause she’s not 100 percent. He understands. It’s weird that he would send her money through Cash App and have her turn it into bitcoin and send it back to him. At least he’s not making her use her money. She goes in at 4 to close drive thru and surprisingly does well, since she took a lot of medication. She gets all her stuff done by 10:30 and goes home to relax. Or at least try to. She hopes some melatonin will help her sleep, but no. Her cough was strong.

Thursday, October 17th and Rachel is not looking forward to pulling a double shift as cook. At least she has took some medicine and brought more to work for later. Lunch time was slow, but dinner time was busy. During both of Rachel’s breaks, she would text Telegram Tony and talk about their future. Not much else goes on.

Saturday, October 19th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to pull another double as cook. It becomes somewhat of a busy lunch, cause Rachel doesn’t get her first break until 2 pm. Then while she’s on break, a whole group of people come in and probably took all the chicken it took her to cook, so she could go on break. She also decides to get back at a fellow cook who always doesn’t connect the fryer pump back to the fryer after changing the filter pad. But first, goes to her supervisor about it and she said to do the same to him. So Rachel “forgets” to connect the fryer pump back to the fryer to get back at the cook who happens to open tomorrow. Will this level of pettiness backfire?

Sunday, October 20th and finally, Rachel can go to church with her family, cause she doesn’t have to come in until 2 pm to close cook. She’s already tired of this cold, so she can plan on meeting up with Telegram Tony. As for her petty revenge on the other cook? He didn’t even notice, since he didn’t filter the fryer before leaving. Oh well. It could have went badly, so it’s one prank she’s not doing again. Janine also tells Rachel that once she gets her stuff done, to go home and she went home at 9:30. She also gets her schedule for next week and she ends up with the next three days off and her remaining four days, she cooks. Yay! Deborah also gives her a pair of work shoes and Rachel is grateful for. She’s sure she’ll get called in on one of her days off, just not Wednesday. She gets paid and wants to enjoy her paycheck.

Monday, October 21st and Rachel’s day off. Let’s talk about her online texts between her and “Dan Aykroyd” while doing her laundry. The guy is 72 years old and is flirting with her. That is just all levels of wrong, so she talks about her stories and he talks to her on a more professional level, which she’s more comfortable with. Wednesday, October 23rd and Rachel’s payday. At first, her boss tries to call her in, but declines the morning shift, cause it’s payday and has plans. She gets paid $840 and she gives her parents $460 and $75 on her phone bill, which leaves her with $305 to buy groceries and to start buying Christmas gifts for her big family. Anyways, she has told this Dan Aykroyd about her dream yesterday about her living with him to get his reaction and so far, silence. Tony Paul sends her an email. She tells him to leave her alone before deleting his message.

Thursday, October 24th and Rachel comes in at 9 AM to work a double as cook. She has decided to wear the work shoes that her friend, Deborah gave to her. Speaking of Deborah, she gets called in to come in at 4. Rachel spends both her breaks texting Telegram Tony and yes, this Dan Aykroyd is back to texting her. As it turns out, this is his response to her dream.

Friday, October 25th and Rachel comes in at 9 AM to open cook and dreads truck day. While greasing up her racks in the fryer, some racks fall into the fryer. Her boss asks if she’s okay and suggests she change the fryer oil to the original fryer. When Rachel gets her break, her boss is kind enough to share her lunch with her and Rachel thanks her.

Rachel then gets to hang out with her cousin, Ray Stantz and his wife Ramona after work. They let Rachel change out of her work clothes and go out to Walmart, then out to Little Caesars for pizza. Rachel also has to work a double shift as cook and shows up for work dressed like Beetlejuice. She was thinking of going as a Ghostbuster, but that was Scammer Dan getting to her head. She thinks it was actually Scammer Tony pretending to be someone else. Anyways, Rachel is the only one to dress up at KFC for Halloween, which kinda feels embarrassing. By 5 pm, she changes into her work uniform and it becomes a very busy Halloween. Since she was there all day, had the advantage of getting all her stuff done and clocking out before 9:30. Now tomorrow, she has to open and put away truck inventory.

Friday, November 1st and Scammer Dan has created a new Facebook account to talk to her and it’s becoming annoying. She’s ignoring him for now, cause she has to come in at 9 am to open cook and put away truck inventory. Last night, she thought stacking clean pans on top of dirty pans, her boss wouldn’t notice how she half-asses her job at night sometimes. It was a risk she took and got caught and now she’s in trouble with her boss. She goes to work and apologizes and then proceeds to put away truck. Anyways by the end of the day, Rachel thought she was okay, cause her boss didn’t yell at her during her shift and is faced with a write up sheet for leaving dirty trays on the counter in her cook station. Something she has gotten away with before has gotten noticed by her boss. She’s got to learn to not cut so many corners. At least she’s off tomorrow and can focus on Tony. Oh and let’s not forget about laundry.

Sunday, November 3rd. Let’s recap that Telegram Tony is Anthony Scheibenzuber and is 38 years old with tattoos, smokes, divorced once and has no kids. Sounds like a decent guy so far. Night cook shows up, relieving Rachel and Zoey wants to go shopping after she gets off work. Rachel is glad to have the next two days off.

Wednesday, November 6th and Rachel had the last two days off. Today, she opens cook on payday. That’s a first. On her break, she notices that she has made $800, gives her parents $475, pays $75 towards her phone bill and has $250 left to buy groceries. She even asks Gaylord for alimony, so there’s an extra $250. That’s if he gives it to her. Rachel also has to get something for her dad’s birthday tomorrow.

Friday, November 8th and Rachel not only has to come in at 9 AM to open cook, she has to put away truck inventory. She can tell already that her day will be stressful. By 3 pm, an order for 65 leg and thigh meals. That’s 120 pieces of dark meat chicken, plus chicken she has to cook for the line in an hour. She was glad when 4 pm rolled around and she could go home. She just wants to go home and shower and text Tony.

Saturday, November 9th and Rachel comes in at 9 AM to open cook. She gets her schedule for next week and notices her boss is going on vacation and she’s the only cook pulling two doubles. This seems unfair, but at least she has three days off. Anyways, she’s worried the night cook will call out and would have to pull two doubles back to back. That will be exhausting and stressful. Speaking of stressful, it’s been a busy day so far.

Saturday, November 16th. Rachel traded her Friday to work Saturday with the new cook. Now she had Friday off and avoided truck day. Scammer Dan somehow has her phone number, I guess from Telegram contacts, and now he’s texting her on her personal number. He says he doesn’t care she has Tony Scheibenzuber and that he is more worthy, cause he’s a celebrity. She also tells Scammer Dan to fuck off before deleting Telegram again after blocking him.

Today, she comes in at 2 pm to close cook, which is what she wanted to do. Why? So she can lay out the right amount of chicken and set up her station for tomorrow morning. Monday, November 18th. It’s Rachel’s day off. Rachel had already gotten her $250 alimony from Gaylord last week, but she bought Christmas presents and DoorDash with it. Tuesday, November 26th and Tony has convinced Rachel that her parents don’t understand what is really going on with the bitcoin transactions. Rachel is the one asking for money and she is getting it to buy bitcoin. It doesn’t sound any better, than money laundering. She wishes Tony was here to save the day and prove to her parents he’s real and not a scammer. She’s back to loving Tony and not feeling true love with Dan, only lust.

Rachel goes into work at 9 AM to open cook and has to cook $300 worth of chicken before noon. On break, Tony sends her $100 to be turned into bitcoin. Fake Dan pleaded to have it and lies to Tony about it. It won’t take long for him to figure out that she gave the $100 to someone else. He doesn’t condone lying. Next time, she can’t give Fake Dan any more money, cause feels guilty about deceiving Tony. Soon, he’ll figure it out. She had to delete Telegram and stop talking to fake Dan. She does it anyway and hopefully, it doesn’t get brought up by her parents if she’s sending money to him or not. She’s just begging to get screamed at again.

Wednesday, November 27th and it’s the day of the Thanksgiving potluck at work. Let’s recap of what happened at the potluck last year. Rachel opened cook. She got in trouble a couple of times by her boss. One is putting spilled counter ice back into the drink machine. Second, didn’t check to see how much chicken was on the line before clocking out for break. Also, the original fryer almost caught on fire. What a day.

Back to the present: Tony is determined to find out what happened to that $100, that he tries to hack into her cash app account. Rachel decided to bring asparagus and cheese. She goes into work early to enjoy the potluck, even though she doesn’t have to clock in until 4 to close cook. The boss brings the turkey, then other coworkers bring potato casserole, corn, macaroni, stuffing, peanut butter pie, pecan pie, okra, ham and green bean casserole. Three weeks later, spoke to Signal Tony again and was confused for a few days about who was who. Tony sends her $2,000 to her cash app to be made into bitcoin. She thought about all the trouble she’d been through with both Tony’s and wanted to block Tony and keep the money. She’d rather do that, than to get yelled at by her parents. What’s the right thing? She ends up sending Tony the money as bitcoin.

Anyways, the whole family shows up for Thanksgiving. Ray, Peter, Egon and Winston show up for the feast. Peter has moved on and he clearly brought his girlfriend and daughter with him. Turkey, ham, green bean casserole, cornbread stuffing, rolls, pumpkin pie bread are served. What a happy Thanksgiving.

Friday, November 29th and Rachel finally gets to come in at 4 and work front counter after weeks of just cooking. Sunday, December 1st and the new cook is the morning cook, so that means she comes in at 10:30 AM to be front counter cashier til 4, then closes cook. She’s also mad at Tony, who has been ignoring her for almost 24 hours and starts to lose interest in him. She should just listen to her family and stop talking to him completely. Yet, she likes the drama. Anyways, she hears from Tony later and she’s happy about that. Her cash register ends up $31 short and not sure how. She got a $2 tip from a customer and left it in the drawer. It shouldn’t make her drawer short. Rachel doesn’t want to get wrote up if the money can’t be found in someone else’s drawer.

As a cook, she changes the fryer oil for the original fryer and cooks great chicken. She goes home at 9:30 and is grateful to have the next few days off. Maybe, she’ll get called in and get more hours. Fake Dan finds a way to talk to her on Signal and tells her to go back to Telegram, which she does. She does confess to Deborah at work that it took her three months to fall in love with Peter and is waiting until after the holidays to tell him how she feels. Right now, she’s giving Tony Scheibenzuber a chance to show up and impress her. Speaking of which, the Wells Fargo account he set her up with is $2,000 in debt. He’s not answering his phone and ignoring her texts. She was scammed once again. She should have listened to her parents.

Rachel does write in her journal, a pretend letter to Peter, which she’ll never send. She’ll feel guilty if she ruined the relationship he’s got with his new girlfriend. I’m the psychopath that pushed you away. Why? Cause I didn’t love you at the time and was too immature to say so. i liked you a lot and we had a lot in common. I thought running away was a good idea, but it was shitty and I will always regret leaving you. I just want to text you and apologize and I will always apologize, even if you don’t forgive me. I hope the person you’re with now treats you right and doesn’t break your heart like I did, cause you deserve happiness. Is it weird that I missed you? I still dream about you as if I never left. Wednesday, December 4th and it’s payday. She gets $688, gives her parents $400, pays $150 on her phone bill and has $139 left to buy groceries and remaining Christmas gifts for her family. Thursday, December 5th and Rachel did sneak $100 to fake Dan, two days ago, by borrowing it from cash app and sends it to him as bitcoin. Will he show up tomorrow? Who knows. He’ll probably have an excuse for standing her up like Tony Paul did to her many times. If you think about it, if Peter was single, she’d rather go back to him instead of dealing with scammers. But Dan wants her to continue communicating with Tony, so she can lure him into a trap to get him arrested for his crimes as a scammer. But Tony is definitely no idiot.

She comes in at 4 to close cook. By the way, her cousin Ray Stantz is the new cook and she’s coming in at 4 to relieve him. When her manager tells her to cook a bag of extra crispy chicken, Ray had original flour made on both cook tables. Very funny, Ray. Her shift starts off busy, but slows down by 6:30. She uses the sink to thaw out chicken strips to have for tomorrow morning. She gets her break at 7 and confirms with Dan that he’s still coming to meet up tomorrow, but no exact time has been set and hopefully before 4 pm. She gets off at 9:30, showers at home and listens to music to help her sleep.

Friday, December 6th and Rachel pulls a double, coming in at 8:30 AM to cook and put away truck inventory, then goes home at 4. Since she covered for someone Tuesday night on front counter, they will cover for her on Friday night, so she doesn’t have to pull a double. During her shift, she figures she wasted $100 and doubts whoever is fake Dan will ever show up. I mean, how many times Tony Paul promised to meet up with her and stood her up? So does fake Dan show up? No and his excuse was work. He’s a busy man, you know. He could have just told her that instead of making her wait all day and have this excuse. Her heart is broken and she cries into her pillow. She’s just done with men. At least for a while.

Saturday, December 7th and fake Dan has apologized enough for Rachel to forgive him. Zoey asks Rachel if she’s still texting Peter and lies. She had to quickly delete the conversation. She buys a cook shirt on eBay and learns a cook that’s been there a year and a half is putting in his two weeks notice. Her and her cousin, Ray would be the only cooks pulling double shifts. She comes in at 2 PM to close cook. It starts off to be a busy day, but slowed down to where Rachel can go on break. She does get grease burned and it her arm hurts for the rest of the night. Rachel is using her break to think about what she said to Zoey and her being one of the many reasons she left Peter. She apologized, but it wasn’t enough. Is it too late to say it was a joke? She even texts fake Dan on her break. She gets her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to rest.

Sunday, December 8th and Rachel gets into a heated argument and confesses that she gave some of his money to someone else. He threatens to call the cops on her and her friend, who she gave the money to. She got dirt on him too, but will it stick? Let’s just say he’s not going to be her plus one at the Christmas party. There is still hope for fake Dan or maybe Gaylord will show his face. Who knows. And is Tony very serious about calling the police? He did kind of admit he did wrong to when he said this:

She had to roll her eyes. At home, she stays up late to chat with Dan, who apparently has went to bed. She listens to music until she falls asleep. She isn’t looking forward to any awkward conversations with her parents tomorrow on her day off.

Monday, December 9th and Rachel checks her phone for any messages from Dan, but there is none. She is expecting her new cook shirt to come in the mail today. She also uses today to do her laundry and washes only her uniforms. She now has enough uniforms to get her through the week. In the kitchen, where her parents mostly hang out, there’s this conversation about Rachel dating. What is wrong with Rachel dating while Zoey is still a minor? Nothing at all. Single parents do it all the time. At least talking to Dan cheers her up. Then there’s her cousin Ray, who thinks he can clean the cook area better than Rachel, which he boasts about in the cook message group on her day off. Anyways, she plays scrabble with her parents, has hot dogs for dinner and ends the night sexting with Dan and apologising to Tony. While sexting Dan, she masturbates and fights the urge to moan loud to not wake Zoey. What a way to end the day.

Wednesday, December 11th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to open cook and she wears her new cook shirt. Gaylord texts her and wants her and Zoey to come back to New York. She wants to see if anything happens with Dan first. If nothing happens with Dan by the end of the year and he turns out to be a scammer, she’s seriously considering moving back with Gaylord. She does miss the lifestyle. Her luck, he just wants to get out of paying child support. At work, Janine announces her pregnancy and Rachel feels a bit jealous. She gets off at 4 and spends the rest of the day texting Dan. She wants more from him, even though they are not exclusive.

After Rachel gets back from texting Dan on her break, her coworkers notice her smiling and have questions. They ask if she’s texting a guy, which is the truth. She can’t tell them she’s texting a celebrity, no one would believe her. I mean, she has no proof. So she tells them that she’s thinking about getting back with Gaylord, which is the truth, cause Gaylord does want her back. Anyways, it’s a rumour she’ll have to live until the Christmas party on the 23rd. When she gets off at 4, she borrows $30 from cash app to DoorDash Dairy Queen and watch Coneheads while texting Dan.

Thursday, December 12th and Rachel has a child support hearing online at 11:30 am. Let’s me tell you how that goes: Gaylord claimed he made $500 a week to the judge, even though no one makes $500 a week in New York. Thats poverty level. If the courts see his income tax records and how much his rent and utilities are, the money he pays his employees, how he goes out to eat almost everyday, drives a brand new car, sitting with $50,000 inheritance, has $10,000 in his bank account, how he gave Zoey $1,700 in allowance altogether in the last 8 months, he’s making more than $500 a week. Rachel is fuming. There’s another court date in February and he’s got to show proof of his income.

At work, Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. She apologizes to her boss about the fry basket incident on Monday morning. Especially after last night’s cook did a much worse job of cleaning his area. Does she get wrote up? No, but the other cook did. The start of her shift starts off busy,  but slows down by 6:30 and goes on her break to text Dan. She’s becoming skeptical of him again and still thinks he’s a romance scammer. Anyways, the last thing she does is take out her trash and the bag spills open and spills all over her, almost causing her to throw up from the stench. She goes back inside, cleans up as best she could and clocks out. She’s definitely showering tonight.

Friday, December 13th. Rachel and Dan discuss meeting up. The 23rd at 3 pm. That’s ten days away and she’s not sure if she works that day. She needs a plan. Especially since he wants to take her somewhere for vacation and would have to talk to her boss. That’s if he shows up. Rachel comes in at 4 to run front counter til 9, then close out drive thru. It was a busy night and Rachel learns from her boss that her Christmas bonus will be on her next paycheck. She gets off work at 10:30 and goes home to text Dan. Tomorrow is her day off and is doing a family thing at the church til 3 pm.

Sunday, December 15th and Rachel overthinks by looking up everything about Dan Aykroyd on Google. There’s a recent post that says he’s still technically married and texts Dan about it. She doesn’t want to be a home wrecker. His response is:

Dan: (text) What you read is not real. Who makes this shit up is beyond me. Believe me, I’m divorced.

Rachel: (text) I just don’t want to be a home-wrecker.

This Dan has to be an impersonator. Anything she says wrong or strange isn’t scaring him off. She’ll just have to keep chatting with him until his big reveal…that’s if he shows up. Anyways, Rachel goes in at 12 to prep and then 2 pm to close cook. Of course, there’s the usual Sunday rush and the night shift was slow as usual. She spends her break texting Dan and gets off work at 9:30. At least tomorrow Is her day off and she stays up late texting Dan. They even have fun with some sexting before dozing off.

Wednesday, December 18th and Rachel does get her schedule. She’s off today and works tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. That means no excuses for trying to come into work on her day off to meet up with Dan. She can see him at work while she’s on front counter. Anyways, she’s arguing with Dan over her investing into bitcoin and it’s not something she’s comfortable doing and he’s not understanding. Maybe he is just a romance scammer. She does ask him why he suddenly left his wife after 40 years. Apparently, that is way too personal and he doesn’t and the question.

Rachel comes in at 9:30 to open cook, so she can’t check her bank balance until she goes on break. It doesn’t matter anyways, cause her paycheck doesn’t hit her account, which stresses her out. Paydays paydays have changed at work. Gaylord is also refusing to give her alimony and they argue over the phone. After her break, not getting her money stresses her out. Then she gets off at 4 and goes to church with her family. She does stay up late to text Dan.

Thursday, December 19th and Rachel has been texting Dan. He says he’s already bought a house in her hometown and he’s ready to marry her and adopt Zoey. She’s still not convinced he’ll show up. She’s been lied too, stood up and had her heart broken so many times. Then Rachel comes in at 2 pm to close cook. She has a habit of not listening to her supervisor when it comes to how much chicken should be cooked. She also still fights with Gaylord over alimony. Anyways, she gets her work done by 9:30 and goes home to shower and rest. She stays up, cause she works night shift tomorrow.

Chapter 10

Friday, December 20th and Rachel gets half of her check as a paper check and it’s $330. The other half she is expecting on Monday to be direct deposited. She goes ahead and gives her parents $285 and whatever’s left to pay back cash app. All Dan could talk about is bitcoin and it’s getting annoying.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close drive thru. It turns out to be a very busy night and Rachel was dropping lids and cups, feeling nervous, and messes up a couple orders. At 9, Rachel takes an order for a 12 piece original, then takes an order out to a pulled car. She accidentally forgets to put something in the door and locks out her and her supervisor. Rachel ends up climbing through the drive thru window and lets in her supervisor. The customers on the other hand, became impatient and threatened to make a complaint to her boss. She does get out by 10:30 and texts Dan the whole story.

Dan: (text) See let me tell you. I'm a celebrity as you know but my management team are ok to charge of my funds. I can give you $12,000 when my management team meet you after the party.

Anyways, she blinded by love and his promises to meet her on Monday if she borrows $450 from cash app and sends it to him. If this goes wrong, she’ll have to tell her parents her account got hacked by Tony Scheibenzuber like they predicted. Anyways, she gets two new uniforms from work and is excited about it. Saturday is her day off and uses the day to do her laundry.

Sunday, December 22nd and Rachel is now on good speaking terms with Signal Tony. She learns from Dan himself that the only reason he wants her is that she’s old enough to have his children. If she can’t conceive a child, he wants nothing to do with her. I guess that’s why he divorced his wife. She can no longer have children. This makes her upset. If Dan really loved Rachel, it shouldn’t matter if she could have children. He also wants to elope with her as soon as possible. Woh, slow down buddy. She’d like to give her family and friends plenty of notice about her new relationship before getting married.

Rachel comes in at 2 pm to close cook. The day starts off slow and then it got busy, then slow again before her supervisor gives her an hour break. With that advantage, she orders Dairy Queen for dinner. Having an hour break puts her at a disadvantage at getting her side work done by 9:30, so it’s close to ten when she gets done and that’s fine. When she gets home, she showers and shaves her legs. Tomorrow is going to be great day and not just because of the Christmas party.

Monday, December 23rd and today is the day that Dan is supposed to reveal himself to her at work. Even though he said 3 pm, she’s giving him til 8 PM to show up, cause that’s when the Christmas party starts. She’s also front counter, so she’ll get to greet him and take his order. So, does he show up? Or is he just another romance scammer? He didn’t show up at all and stood her up. She texted him a combination of insults before demanding the money back she sent him. She got upset and tried to make the most of the Christmas party with her coworkers. When she got home, she cried. Dan’s excuse was that he had none. He’s so heartless and doesn’t seem to think he did anything wrong. She texts Tony and asks him if she gets his money back, could he reveal himself to her and he said “yes”.

Tuesday, December 24th and it’s Christmas Eve. Rachel and Tony Scheibenzuber are back to having full conversations and he still loves her. This Dan has blinded her with love bombing and empty promises. But that came with an $800 price tag and he’s now giving her the silent treatment. She goes back to talking to Tony, cause he never really took advantage of her.

Janine is the manager in charge and she picks Rachel as her cook. That makes Rachel feel proud. She also gave Dan another chance to show up and does he? No, but his excuse that he was busy and only gets around by Uber. Well, that’s takes the fun out of her introducing him to her family on Christmas Eve. Anyways, Ray calls her after she gets off at 6:30 PM to see if she wants to hang out tomorrow. Of course. She can use the ride to see Dan. Hopefully Zoey doesn’t want to come with her and it will ruin her plan to see Dan. She comes home and the whole family is having pizza and breadsticks. She stays up to plan how she’ll meet Dan tomorrow.

Wednesday, December 25th and it’s Christmas Day and Rachel is trying to reach Dan to see where he would like to meet up, but after Christmas lunch with the family. For presents: Rachel got three shirts, a necklace, a set of bracelets, two throw blankets and some snacks. She is very grateful for it. Also, meat sliders for Christmas lunch. When Rachel uses her cousin Ray to try and meet up with Dan, it backfires and she never gets to meet up with him. Rachel vents to Ray and Ramona about her problems and goes in the house, sad cause Dan never replied to her texts when trying to coordinate a meeting. Maybe it’s not meant to be at all and has to accept it. Not even Tony is talking to her.

Thursday, December 26th and Rachel gets called in at 11 am to side pack and then close cook at 4. But the drive thru person calls out and Rachel would rather cook, than close drive thru. Rachel also begs Dan in texts to meet her at KFC, since she’ll be there all day. But if he waits past 4, he’ll miss the chance to talk to her boss about a vacation. But let’s be real. A cook is quitting and her going on vacation doesn’t seem like a good idea. Anyways, Dan admits that he needs more money and that’s why he didn’t meet up with her. She gets mad, starts crying and insults him to the moon and back. She just wants the $800 back that she sent him. After her break, she starts cleaning and helps Janine close. Rachel gets her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to shower and go to bed. Now she feels anger and hate for Dan.

Friday, December 27th and Rachel wakes up to Dan not giving up on wanting more money. She’d rather have her money back and calls him a scammer multiple times. He says he still loves her, but she’s no longer convinced. A man in love wouldn’t ask her for money. Especially if he’s the real deal and has millions. Anyways, she finds another Dan Aykroyd and messages him to see what happens.

Rachel: (text) I know you don’t know me, but as a fan, would you ask random fans for money? I met a Dan Aykroyd on here who talked me into giving him $800 to meet him and haven’t gotten a video chat or phone call to prove he’s not a scammer. Never got to meet him either, since $800 wasn’t enough. I just want to know if you’re the real deal or another impersonator.

Anyway, let’s see what happens there, especially when Dan tells her to block the account. Is he worried she’ll find something he’s hiding? She just wants her money back and move on. Anyways, Rachel comes in at 4 to close drive thru. It turns out to be an easy night and Rachel gets all her stuff done by 10 pm, instead of 10:30. Anyways, she starts tolerating Dan again, cause he’s so stubborn about returning her money. She would rather converse with Tony.

Saturday, December 28th and Rachel hears from the real Dan Aykroyd and tells the other to go fuck himself. She wished she go her money back before blocking him. The real Dan and Rachel talk for hours and it was nice talking to the real deal. Anyways, Rachel is feeling body aches, heartburn, nausea, sweats and still has to go to work.

Rachel comes in at 2 PM to close cook. None of the coworkers haven’t got paid yet since they switched corporations and everyone at KFC is thinking about protesting if they don’t get paid by Monday. Luckily, she does get paid, so no protest necessary. Her check was $692 and she gives her parents $345. She gives $130 to pay back cash app and puts $75  in savings towards her phone bill. She still has $140 leftover. Anyways, she gets off at 9:30 and it’s also a relief to go back to texting Tony Scheibenzuber. As for the real Dan Aykroyd, it’s hard to realize it’s not the same Dan she flirted with. This one is married.

Sunday, December 29th and Rachel texts the real Dan Aykroyd to cope with not having fake Dan to talk to. Is he okay with that though? He could tell her in the nicest way that she needs to seek professional help.

Rachel: (text) Hope you had a good day. I went to work at 2 pm and got off at 9:30. It was funny when I had to take out a bunch of trash at work while the rain was coming down. I came back inside and my supervisor asked me to cook chicken strips and I said “in a minute, I just got out of the shower.” Cause it was raining outside. I apologize for texting so late. For a moment when I did thought the other Dan was real, we’d stay up and talk late. But you are different. For some reason at work, I did imagine coming home and talking to you about my day. You know if I’m overstepping or making you uncomfortable, just let me know. I don’t know if random chats are okay.

Real Dan: (text) Well, I had quite a good time talking to you last time, I don't mind you telling me how your day went. And can you please keep our conversations between us? I don’t want to be blackmailed.

Rachel: (text) I promise.

Cause no one would believe Rachel anyways, so she’ll have to keep the conversation a secret. Rachel comes in at 4 pm to close cook. She comes in with pain to her side and feeling nauseous and feeling like she may not make it through the night. But the ibuprofen kicks in and she finishes her shift. She gets off work at 9:30 and feels satisfied talking to both Dan’s. Yes, even the fake one she unblocked, cause she missed him.

Monday, December 30th and Rachel wakes up to text three guys: real Dan, fake Dan and Tony. Fake Dan she still texts, cause she can’t flirt with real Dan, cause he’s married. Wait, Fake Dan flips her off with an emoji. What’s that about? He told her it was a joke, but she didn’t find it funny. Rachel comes in at 4 pm to be on front counter.

She gets off at 9 and asks her dad to take her to Walmart, so she could buy a few snacks while Zoey is at a friend’s house. She’ll be alone texting all three guys while eating junk food. Tomorrow is her only day off this week and she’s excited about that. She even told plans on making a music video for fake Dan and Tony.

Wednesday, January 1st 2025. Rachel has texted both Tony and fake Dan her New Year’s resolution. She wants a physical relationship or she’s wasting her time. The whole online relationship and just texting is getting tired and drawn out. She’s at the point where she’ll ditch any online relationship she currently has for a physical one just like that.

Anyways, Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook to start off the new year. Today, is a cook’s last day after being there for a year and a half. It will be her and her cousin, Ray Stantz as the only cooks left standing until one gets hired and trained. She also gets a text from Peter Venkman, who is now single and wants her back. So after work, she excitedly sneaks over to his house, but he wasn’t home. She wants to cry and leaves him a text. She manages to get back home before her parents noticed she was gone. Also, Zoey came back from her friend’s house, so there’s no opportunities to sneak away to Peter’s until next Monday morning.

But her good feeling she had about getting back with Peter Venkman has dissipated. She texts him why he and his girlfriend broke up and they were clearly engaged, since Rachel checked out her profile. She wonders what happened. Janine texts her and is concerned and suggests Peter may just be playing games with her heart, but Rachel must know the truth. But he doesn’t text her for the night, so I guess Janine was right. Bad Peter.

Thursday, January 2nd and she gets texts from Peter, saying he really wasn’t home yesterday when she got off work. And she got the answer she wanted.

Rachel: (text) Is it okay to ask what happened between you and your girlfriend?

Peter: (text) I found her hiding in my closet and texting someone, probably another guy, so we broke up.

Rachel: (text) I wish I could sneak out, but it’s difficult that Zoey is home and she’d rat me out in a heartbeat to my parents if I just walked out of the house to come see you. I wish I had never left you.

Peter: (text) it’s sad you do have to sneak out. I’ve been working nights now, so you would have to see me during the day.

Rachel: (text) I’ll see you when I see you. I’ll let you know in advance if I have the opportunity to come over. I love you, my sexy man.

Peter: (text) I love you too, my sexy hot lady.

Rachel is happy and then goes to work at 4 with news to share with her coworkers. Especially Janine. She wants to know if Peter has texted her back and stuff. Well, of course. It’s going to be a long wait to see him on Monday. Anyways, it turns out to be a busy night and Rachel face palms when her supervisor wants her to drops all dark meat, then all white meat instead of calling out a whole round of original. She gets her stuff done by 9:30 PM and when she gets home, discovers that Zoey stayed the night with her friend and might sneak over to Peter’s house in the morning.

Friday, January 3rd and Rachel leaves a note for her parents before sneaking off to see Peter at his house. Peter hugged and kissed her as if she never left. They sit on the couch to catch up on the last three months. She also promises to always love him. But, he was not willing to risk it all for her again and tells her he got back with his ex last night. She yells at him and walks out of his house in tears. She will never want to hear from him again. Luckily, she gets back home and throws away the note she wrote for her parents. The man she was willing to risk it all for again is done. At least she still has her scammers to text.

Rachel demands her money back from fake Dan, then goes into work at 4 and tells Janine and Deborah what happened with Peter. He’s a loser anyways. It turns out to be a busy night and on her break, texts the real Dan Aykroyd and they have a conversation. She is slowly asking him to be her Sugar Daddy. Let’s see if he takes the hints. Also, she is refusing to talk to fake Dan til he pays her back. At work, no truck means no chicken and end up cooking a box and a half of chicken out of the two and a half boxes they started out with. She gets off at 9:30 and goes home to rest.

Saturday, January 4th and Rachel gets paid $422 and hides it from her family, cause she wants them to think she gets paid on the 11th. She does put $85 back for parents to give to them on the 11th. They will be expecting a two week check from her on that day. She does put $200 towards what she owes cash app and still owes $209. The rest of her check is $135. Now how will she hide this from her parents unless she gets alimony? But she couldn’t lie to her parents and told them she got paid and only asked for $100. That could have been worse.

Rachel comes in at 2 pm to close cook. It’s a slow day and Rachel gets her break at 5 pm. But no one is online to text her, so she just watches videos on her phone while eating fried chicken. She goes to Walmart after she gets off work at 9:30, so she could get some groceries before the predicted snow storm coming in tomorrow morning. When she gets home, she takes a shower and goes to bed. And how about that Peter Venkman? What an asshole.

Chapter 11

Monday, January 6th and for a quick recap, Rachel thought the $100 was all her parents needed and spent the other $100 on groceries. Then her dad asked for the $85 for the bunk beds. She couldn’t tell him she owed cash app more than $200 and borrows $85 from cash app to satisfy her father. She’ll never get out of this hole. She was also told not to come in Sunday night, cause of the ice storm. Even Zoey got called out of school. Yesterday, she was having a funny conversation with the real Dan Aykroyd before she lost internet, cause of the ice storm. Her and fake Dan traded insults, cause he wouldn’t give her money back. Her and Tony Scheibenzuber are in a good place.

Now Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. It turns out to be a slow night and on her break, calls Gaylord to discuss plans on moving back to New York at the end of May. The blabber mouth tells Zoey right away and Zoey texts Rachel to see if the rumor is true. I’m sure Zoey has told Rachel’s parents and she’s not sure what to say to them. She knows they will be upset and disappointed in her. She texts Ray Stantz for words of encouragement and he supports her decision. Her parents on the other hand don’t. Her dad wants all her money before she leaves. Zoey waits until the next day to give her opinion. I’m sure Zoey would rather follow Rachel, than to live with her strict grandparents. But who knows. She does text Tony to tell him that if they don’t meet by May, she’s moving to New York. Rachel is off tomorrow and is going to use that day to do her laundry.

Wednesday, January 8th and Rachel blocked fake Dan after he asked her for $1,400. She also confesses to the real Dan Aykroyd that she has an infatuation with him. He could wound up hurting her feelings and stop all communication with her, because of her daddy issues.

Dan: (text) Well, that's sweet of you, so nice to know someone out there cares. Just be yourself and feel free to tell me about anything and your feelings.

And he’s okay with her flirting with him. She also comes in at 9:30 AM to pull a double shift as cook. She seen that coming, since there’s just two cooks left. Her morning shift coworkers ask her if she’s really moving to New York at the end of May. Rachel assures that it’s not set in stone and since it’s four months away, she could change her mind at any time. Anyways, Egon Spengler shows up at KFC in tears to share some devastating news. Since Rachel once had a crush on his older brother, he informs her that his DoorDashing brother, Stephen Spengler has committed suicide by drug overdosing. This is devastating and Rachel hasn’t thought about him since he went back to Ohio. But what can be done now? Anyways, it was a busy night and Janine helps Rachel cook chicken. By 9:30, Rachel gets done with her stuff and goes home to text Dan. Also, Tony isn’t talking to her since she lost her cash app account for all the bitcoin transactions. What a bummer.

Thursday, January 9th and here’s the continuation of the conversation between Rachel and her parents about going back to Gaylord. At first they are disappointed in her. They ask why? Rachel still loves Gaylord and wants to be with him. Rachel’s dad feels like she owes him her entire tax return and doesn’t care if she pays off the bank. I mean, her mom is like:

Mom: What the actual fuck is wrong with you? Are you out of your mind?

Dad: you just don’t want to pay us any money.

You don’t say. Rachel just wants the fighting to stop. She wished she didn’t go through with the divorce, cause she hates fighting with Gaylord. Now she is fighting with her parents. Yeah, she is grateful that they took her in, but hates being controlled. Now it’s time to talk to her boss about leaving work in four months. Or maybe not. Zoey doesn’t want to go back to New York and Rachel can’t make her. That means Rachel must stay and be miserable. But a turn of events has her parents supporting her decision to go back to Gaylord before going into work at 4 PM.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close cook. Her boss gives her a new cook shirt. For a moment, she thought her boss was going to ask her if she was really leaving to go back to New York. It turns out to be a very busy night and assumes everyone is getting their chicken before the snow storm tomorrow. She does text the real Dan Aykroyd on her break and right when her break ends, asks him he’d date a normal person. She’ll get that answer tomorrow, since it is late. She even gets her stuff done by 9:30 and her supervisor asks if she could stay and help them, since labor is good. Rachel clocks out and goes home.

Friday, January 10th and Rachel checks her messages and thinks about fake Dan. When she imagined he was the real deal and flirted with him, now she feels like she had to start all over with the real Dan. Anyways, it’s a snowy day and Rachel might get out of work. Her boss calls and said that KFC is closing early due to the snow storm and there’s no need for night shift to show up. So, she texts Dan and he’s open to developing a romantic relationship with her. But with the process of getting to know each other better. She also helps Zoey rearrange her room. Also, she and Gaylord texted each other a lot, describing the things they missed when they were together.

Saturday, January 11th and Rachel gets a message from Dan that she’s sending too many texts and it’s a bit overwhelming to him. Maybe she should not text him for a while, since she nearly scared him off with her big mouth. Also, her family makes her feel untrustworthy and insecure and it makes her feel like going back to Gaylord is the best choice. She’s fortunate that he’s willing to takel her back after everything, which means he still loves her.

Rachel comes in at 2 to close cook and wearing her new cook shirt. Rachel comes clean with both Janine and Deborah that she’s leaving to go back to New York. Deborah begs her to stay and Janine wishes her the best. It becomes a busy night and while on break, she and Dan text each other. He’s hoping that Rachel doesn’t tell anyone about their conversations, cause he could get blackmailed. It’s funny how she flirted with him yesterday, but felt like she had to take a step back today, cause she doesn’t want to scare him off. After she gets off work at 9:30, so when she gets home, she listens to music and watches videos until she falls asleep.

Sunday, January 12th and Rachel wakes up to texting Gaylord to discuss plans on her moving back to New York. Then she comes in at 2 to close cook. Apparently, there’s a complaint that the chicken livers tasted bad and Rachel feels so embarrassed. It turns out to be a slow night and on her break, calls Gaylord for a chat. Also, Rachel gets her stuff done by 9:30. She’s been waiting for Dan to text her back all day and when she gets home from work, there’s not one message from Dan. He’s either too busy or she scared him off. She plans on giving Dan two days to reply back or she’s deleting Telegram. According to the schedule, she’s off tomorrow and she will use the time to relax.

Rachel and Zoey have an argument about Rachel wanting to go back to New York. Zoey breaks down in tears and so does Rachel after feeling guilty. Rachel wants to live her life, but doesn’t want to leave Zoey behind in order to achieve happiness.

 

Wednesday, January 15th and a reply text from Tony Scheibenzuber giving a sarcastic congratulations to her getting back with her ex husband. Dan finally texted her yesterday on her day off, so she’s happy about that. Gaylord also demands Rachel to let him know when she gets her W-2, so she can file her taxes in New York. No way. She has to pay back the bank. Her parents are also trying to talk her out of going to New York. Fake Dan creates a new account on Telegram to reach out to Rachel, but she’s not being fooled anymore and blocks him again.

Rachel also comes in at 9:30 to open cook and has to pull a double shift. Rachel also does almost get caught for not breading the chicken livers twice and was willing to confess why she did it that way to her supervisor. Something she can share with Dan. She also calls Gaylord and all he’s focused on is getting Rachel back up to New York as soon as possible. It does turn out to be a busy night and Rachel gets her stuff done and goes home at 9:30. On the way home from work, her dad has figured out why she wants to leave with Gaylord so bad. It’s because she wants a man and her dad won’t let her date until she’s 23. Zoey is also surprised that Rachel would just leave her there with her parents as she moves in with Gaylord.

Thursday, January 16th and Rachel goes in at 4 PM to close cook. She nervously confronts her boss about her leaving in May. Her boss seemed understanding and reassures her that once she puts in her two weeks notice, it can’t be retracted, so she better be sure. Rachel really thought her boss would be upset or disappointed, cause she thought Rachel would stick around longer. It also turns out to be a busy night and on break, she hates that when Dan gets super busy and doesn’t text her. She assumes the worst all the time. She gets her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to relax.

Friday, January 17th and Rachel gets paid $634. She gives $416 to her parents, $77 towards her phone bill. That leaves Rachel with $139. She spends $98 at Walmart and still has $41. $40 she put into her savings account. Also, she gets the bunk beds paid off, so that’s an extra $85 in her pocket every payday. Rachel also gets a text from her boss saying she didn’t clean the fryers very good and had pictures. All Rachel could do was apologize and pray that she doesn’t get wrote up.

Rachel also comes in at 4 PM to close cook. Did she get wrote up over the fryers? Nope and it does get super busy enough to where Rachel doesn’t get her stuff done til 10 pm. When she gets home, the heater in her room is broken, so it’s too cold to sleep in her bed. Rachel and Zoey end up sleeping on the couch. She texts Gaylord until she falls asleep.

Saturday, January 18th and Rachel orders a new charging cable off eBay, only to realize she ordered the wrong one and tries to cancel the order and get her money back. She also comes in at 2 to close cook. It has been a busy day, but not as busy as it was last night. Rachel ends up calling Gaylord on her break and when she gets back, she starts filtering her fryers. The original fryer gives her a hard time and had to unclog the drain, so she could continue the filtering process. She does manage to get all her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to find out that her dad has fixed the heater in her room. There’s church tomorrow morning, so Rachel goes to bed early.

Sunday, January 19th and Rachel goes to church and after church, her supervisor tries to call her in an hour early, so the day cook can go cut down a tree. Forget that. She’ll come in at her scheduled time at 2. The tree can wait. Also, Rachel is tired of waiting two days for Dan to text her back, so she deletes Telegram. There’s only one man she should be caught texting and that is Gaylord. She ends up downloading the app again out of regret.

She goes into work at 1:30 and a coworker brings in Pizza Hut around 5 pm. Thats when Rachel gets her break and helps herself to a couple slices of pizza, which had a lot of toppings and it filled her up. Since it was a slow night, she gets her stuff done and goes home at 9:30. Tomorrow is her day off, so she’ll spend it doing her laundry and hanging with her parents. She ends up feeling sick and throws up in the bathroom and her mom hopes it’s not because of her cooking. It’s not. She has a stomach bug and can’t hold down anything edible and has body aches with chills.

Wednesday, January 22nd and Rachel’s schedule is the same as it was the last two weeks. Her decision to move back to New York is causing a rift between her and Zoey. Rachel isn’t sure what to do at this point. Maybe she should just take a vacation and that way she has a job to come back to if things go sour. I don’t know. Rachel is confused on what is the right decision. It definitely isn’t with the real Dan Aykroyd, since he’s not talking to her anymore. She doesn’t want to go through the list of losers on Facebook Dating again. It’s all about getting a good man and having freedom.

Anyways, she comes in at 9:30 AM to open cook and has to pull a double shift. Debate between managers on whether to catch Rachel only breading the chicken livers once arises. Dan texts her during her first break, which makes her smile again, even if he doesn’t explain his absence. She’s just relieved to hear from him again. Also, she texts Gaylord to tell him she doesn’t want to go back, cause she doesn’t want to abandon Zoey. At work, the afternoon is slow and night shift was a little busy and Rachel gets upset and starts crying, cause of the family drama at home. Janine listens to her words and lets Rachel cry on her shoulder. Doing prep with Janine also calms her down enough to where she can focus on her work for the rest of the night. Rachel comes home after 9:30 and suddenly her parents are okay with her moving back out again. Her parents are so confusing.

Thursday, January 23rd and Rachel files her taxes and gets $1,250 instantly. She decides to buy Hardee’s for herself and her parents. She then has time to go to Walmart only for her card not to work. That’s so confusing. She has to go to work now and will have to deal with this financial thing tomorrow. She goes into work at 4 to close cook. She meets a black gentleman who has had his eyes on her for a while and his name is Ray. Now, too many Ray’s in her life is confusing. He charms her at work and they exchange phone numbers. None of her coworkers notice this, cause they would have teased her about it. Anyways, it becomes a busy night and Rachel still gets out at 9:30. She comes home to text this new Ray to tell him she’ll call him tomorrow.

Friday, January 24th. Rachel calls the new Ray and they talk on the phone for an hour and a half. She hangs up, so she could eat lunch and she calls him right back. When Rachel comes in at 4, she sits with new Ray and chat with him before clocking in. Her coworkers are proud of her that she’s happy. It becomes a busy night and on her break, new Ray spontaneously shows up with a pizza and a soda, so they can share dinner together and just talk. She likes this. He kisses her before she clocks back in to finish her work and she gets off work at 9:40. She goes home to tell her parents about her night and they’re happy for her. She also texts Gaylord to tell him about her new man. He won’t be too happy, but who cares? Goodnight.

Chapter 12

Saturday January 25th and Rachel wakes up to having probably her last conversation with the real Dan Aykroyd before pursuing her new relationship with this new Ray. Ray Zeddemore and somehow related to Winston Zeddemore. Ray is 40 and that’s just fine with her. She honestly doesn’t want to give up Dan, but it would be cheating. I mean, what if Ray asked Rachel if she was talking to other men? Then they spoke about being honest yesterday. Her conversations with Dan has to end. Also, the reason she hasn’t got her tax return is because of her interactions with Tony Paul last year who probably tried to steal her identity and claim her taxes. That man has come back to haunt her and she’ll cry if she doesn’t get her money to pay back the bank.

Anyways, when Rachel comes in at 2, she introduces her dad to Ray and they get along. Again, her coworkers are glad to see her happy. Ray comes in around her break and they enjoy fried chicken together. It turns out to be a slow night, except for when she starts cleaning up. She finishes by 9:30 and discusses plans with Ray to hang out after she finishes work tomorrow. Also, Gaylord sends jealous texts over Rachel’s new man. It’s whatever.

Sunday, January 26th and today, Rachel has to tell Zoey about this new man in her life. Speaking of a man, she’d like to talk to Dan in the morning and when she wakes up, she has Ray for the rest of the day. But, how long until Ray finds out about Dan? Something has to give and it has to be Dan. Anyways, she goes to church with her family and comes home to tell Zoey about Ray. At least Zoey is glad that Rachel changed her mind about going back to New York with her dad. But this new guy is going to take time to get used to.

Rachel also goes into work at 2 PM to close cook. Her and Ray discuss plans to hang out after work and then spend the night at his place. He promises to be a gentleman and not have sex the first night. He just wants to wake up to her and that’s just fine. But what would her parents say? Would they believe her if they asked if they had sex? Probably not. Anyways, Rachel and Ray are going to spend her days off together and it would be very hard to journal everything. Rachel also gets off at 9:30, so goodnight. But she goes to his house and spends the night. Both her and Ray make out, then fall asleep watching a movie. Tomorrow is her day off and that’s more time to spend together.

Monday, January 27th and Rachel wakes up to Ray. How can she be with a man who snores all night and keeps her up? He makes her breakfast and he showers her with love and affection. What more could she want from a man who treats her like a queen? It’s not him, it’s her. She doesn’t have the same feelings for him. She can’t lie about liking him romantically when she’s in love with Dan Aykroyd. She couldn’t wait for him to go to work, so she could make her escape. It took her an hour to walk home and her parents have no idea why she left or the fact that she blocked him. Rachel has real issues and would rather be with her family. Her dad is the first one to notice the hickie that Ray left on her neck and it’s so embarrassing to have.

As for her coworkers like seeing her and Ray together, they will have questions and she’ll have answers. There’s no doubt he’ll show up at her workplace wondering why she left and ghosted him. I’m sure he’ll be angry. She’ll cross that bridge when she gets to it. In the meantime, she’ll enjoy being with her family and enjoying her free time as a single woman. She also texts Dan about how she just wants only him and he’s happy about that, cause he feels the same way. Tomorrow is also her day off and she enjoys it doing nothing.

Wednesday, January 29th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to open cook and has to pull a double. She dreads Ray showing up to ask why she ditched and ghosted him on Monday when he thought things were going good. She has mentally prepared herself for the Ray jokes from her coworkers. Talking to Dan this morning has also put her mind at ease. Especially since they had a moment of sexting. That Ray guy shows up at 8:15 and Rachel freaks out and hides in the cooler until he leaves. Rachel also told her coworkers everything she found annoying about Ray, like the fact he likes to suck on toes. Janine found it hilarious. Anyways, it was a slow day at work and Rachel gets off work at 9:30.

Friday, January 31st and Rachel gets paid $750. She gives her parents $380, puts $75 towards her phone bill and $85 in her Savings Account. That leaves $200 for Rachel to spend. She ends up spending $130 at Walmart and puts the rest of the $70 in her Savings Account. She also got $1,200 advance on her taxes and gives her parents $400 to help with their house tax. She texted Dan an explicit dream she had and curious to his reaction. He thinks her dreams are fantasies.

Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. Rachel treats herself to Dairy Queen before her shift. Her dinner instantly gives her many trips to the bathroom at the beginning of her shift. It turns out to be a busy night, but still ends up getting her stuff done by 9:30. She texts her friends after work to plan a day she can get her hair cut. It has grown to her shoulders and she wants to cut it short.

Saturday, February 1st and Rachel gets to babysit her cousin, Ray’s kid before going to work at 2 PM to close cook. There’s six boxes of chicken that has to last two days. The owner is complaining that she is clocking out at 9:30, cause that is too early. She was told to get her stuff done and go home to save on labor and now 9:30 is too early. Someone needs to make up their mind. Even though it was a busy night, Rachel gets her stuff done by 9, but hangs around to clock out at 9:30. She goes home to shower and listen to music to help her sleep.

Sunday, February 2nd and scammer Dan is back and blowing up Rachel’s phone. She humors him for the sake of making her fanfic interesting. Also, one of Peter Venkman’s ex’s texts her on Facebook to tell her how crazy Peter is. This has to be a trick to get information to report back to Peter. Anyways, she’s back to talking to both real Dan and fake Dan. Rachel goes into work at 3 pm to close cook and has 14 bags of chicken and 6 bags of chicken strips to get through the night.

Ray Zeddemore comes in and Rachel approaches him. He’s not mad at her for leaving him and both agreed to be friends. It turns out to be a busy night and Rachel ends up cooking 13 out of 14 bags of chicken and 3 out of 6 bags of chicken strips. Her cousin, Ray didn’t filter the fryers on his shift and it pisses her off. She took pics to show her boss later is Ray finds something to something she forgot and complain about it. Even though she took her time cleaning, she still got her stuff done by 9:30. At least tomorrow is her day off.

Wednesday, February 5th and real Dan has been super quiet and that’s why she has fake Dan to talk to. Fake Dan says they’ll meet up on Valentine’s Day. Tony Paul said the same thing a year ago and stood her up. How long will it take for fake Dan to start asking for money before the 14th? Fake Dan said he was there at KFC in January, but gives no specific date. Tony Paul said the same thing. Anyways, Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to open cook and is surprised to not be pulling a double today, since a new cook was hired and trained. Actually, he doesn’t show up and Rachel ends up pulling a double, which she’s excited about.

Rachel had to sweep the parking lot and Ray Zeddemore walks up to her, hugs her and asks to be friends with benefits. Her coworkers get a good laugh as they watch from a distance. Then she tells him to go home, so she could get back to work. When she takes out the trash, the bag rips on her and she had to pick it up and put it in a new bag. Her supervisor also catches her breading the crispy once, which led to her confession of doing so for the past year and a half. Her supervisor threatened to write her up if she did it again. The same supervisor and another manager criticised how bad her chicken was, but Janine stood up for her, which Rachel shows her gratitude by helping her close. There were customers that night to tell Rachel how good her chicken is. What helped Rachel relax was sexting the real Dan Aykroyd during her break. She also promised to stay and help Janine close and gets out after 10. What a night.

Thursday, February 6th and Rachel is upset that he’d ask for a $300 apple gift card. This changes things. She asks him why he can’t buy one himself and he says he’s too busy to buy one. He said it’s a gift for a fan. She’s not stupid. Gaylord has also sent Rachel $60, which she puts in her Savings account. Rachel also asks the real Dan Aykroyd if he finds her attractive and he does, but wants to take things slow. What is considered slow for a 72 year old man? It’s confusing when he wants to have video chat sex first thing in the morning. So, that means that Dan sees her completely naked. Does she see him naked? No. She sends the videos of herself masturbating in the nude and he just texts, worried about blackmail. This is one-sided and fishy.

Rachel comes in at 4 PM to close cook. She’s worried her boss would say something to her about cutting corners when it comes to cooking chicken. She arrived to work and her boss had already went home. Her assistant manager is there all night and will be watching Rachel closely. But her feelings are hurt when her assistant manager makes fun of her cooking and she hides in the booth, trying not to cry. But she gets over it and cooks chicken, but not with enthusiasm. That spark to cook chicken excitedly was gone. Maybe she should get a new job or go back to New York before she gets fired for cooking the chicken her way.

Friday, February 7th and now Fake Dan wants some video sexting action. He’s got demands and Rachel isn’t having it. She sent nude pics, cause he said he’ll send dick pics. She sends him nude pics and now he wants her to masturbate in a video before he sends anything. She already fell for that with the other Dan. Now she thinks they’re both scammers. Anyways, she’d rather go back to Gaylord, than to deal with romance scammers.

Rachel does come in at 4 to close cook and this time, her boss is there til 8, so who knows if her boss will say something to her. Apparently, Rachel can relax, cause her boss complimented the fact that Rachel dyed her hair black. No more stressing out over losing her job. Everything is good. But hides in the bathroom to avoid being seen by Ray Zeddemore. It ends up being a busy night, but ends up getting her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to relax.

Saturday, February 8th and Rachel comes in at 2 pm to close cook. Guess who else slid back into her private messages? Tony Scheibenzuber. He’s just checking in to make sure they can be friends. But it didn’t last, cause he deleted his account shortly after. Ray Zeddemore also sent her a friend request on Facebook. He just can’t get the hint that she’s not interested in him anymore. Anyways, it becomes a busy night and on her break, gets to text the real Dan. Her head has been hurting, so texting Dan made her feel better. She also gets her stuff done by 9, but stays and helps her coworkers clean up until 9:30. When she gets home, she listens to her music to help her sleep.

Sunday, February 9th and Rachel has a migraine related to dehydration. She does plan a weekend in March to hang out with friends, cause she wants a haircut. She goes into work at 4 to close cook. There’s four bags of chicken left and since it’s a slow night, that’s all she had to cook, plus strips and nuggets. When she wasn’t doing anything, she worked on prep. The boss came in late to drop off five cases of chicken for tomorrow, but Rachel is off tomorrow and spends it doing laundry and texting both Dan’s.

 

Wednesday, February 12th and real Dan is still looking for the $250 gift card. Why can’t he just ask his rich friends or get it himself? Unless he’s gonna pay her bank debt of $5,500, then she’s not giving out any money. She tried arguing with him last time, but he gaslit her into thinking he’d never asked her for money. She will tell him she had to put back money to pay the bank or she’ll go to jail. What’s more important? A $250 gift card or save $5,500 to pay the bank?

Rachel also comes in at 9:30 to open cook and has to pull a double shift. This time, she cooks the way her supervisor wants her to cook, so she won’t get in trouble. At least on day shift. She does burn the chicken, cause she was in the cooler laying out frozen chicken and gets yelled at by her supervisor. She also gives her number out to a black guy named David Harrison, who doesn’t look that old. If Egon Spengler was black, that’s what this David looks like. On night shift, the fun shift, she gets an hour break and orders Dairy Queen. She spends 30 minutes talking to the potential boyfriend, David on the phone. He’s 31 and close to her age. Now, what will she do with the two Dan’s on Telegram? Especially after she sent them nudes. Anyways, since her morning supervisor doesn’t think Rachel cleans, she gets done with her work at 9:40 instead of 9:30, to get some cleaning done.

Thursday, February 13th and Rachel gets paid $725. She gives her parents $325, puts $85 in Savings, $75 towards her phone bill and spent $40 at Walmart. She still has $197. Her savings is only at $259, cause she has spent $40 out of her savings on DoorDashing. She also bought a $50 Galaxy themed comforter set out of her tax return. Rachel also has a bad cold and isolates herself in her room. Also, Rachel is really not into David and would rather continue talking to the two Dan’s. Even if they’re scammers.

Rachel does talk to David before getting ready for work and it gets her excited every time he says, “that’s what’s up.” Anyways, she comes in at 4 and cooks everything the KFC way, cause her least favorite supervisor is there until 8. David does come to see her for like a minute, to get something to eat and because Rachel was busy. I think the more time she spends with David, the less she thinks of the two Dan’s. On her break, a customer takes a 12 piece meal and Rachel takes three minutes out of her break to drop two bags of chicken. Oops, she was to cook crispy and not original. Oh well. Anyways, she gets her stuff done by 9:30 and goes home to listen to music and go to bed.

Chapter 13

Friday, February 14th and Valentine’s Day. Who will be Rachel’s valentine? Rachel is dreading Ray Zeddemore to show up. She hopes it’s David or one of the Dan’s. It doesn’t matter. Either today will be epic or boring. Rachel comes in at 2 to close cook. It becomes a busy day and David comes in to get some food to go. Since it was busy, Rachel only got to see him for a minute. Ray Zeddemore didn’t show up either, thank goodness. Even though it was busy, Rachel still got her stuff done by 9:30 and stays an extra ten minutes to help her coworkers fix a couple big orders on the screen. When Rachel gets home, all she wants to do is relax.

Saturday, February 15th and fake Dan had the nerve to ask for $500 if she wants a relationship with him. She just deletes the conversation and blocks him once again. Then he texts her from a different phone number to beg for her to unblock him on Telegram. When she comes in at 2 to close, business is so slow, her supervisor gives her an hour and a half break. She still manages to get her stuff done by 9:30, cause Janine did help her before she went home. There was also so much rain today, that the whole town got flooded. She argued with fake Dan about why he needs $500 and she blocks him after saying, “don’t contact me again.” It was like arguing with an idiot.

Sunday, February 16th and David texts her “good morning.” She decides to give him a chance, since he was the only guy who was there on Valentine’s Day, even if it was for a minute. He was there, Dan wasn’t. End of story. It’s time to not take things for granted. It’s time to leave Dan in the past and pursue David. Let’s see where this goes.

Rachel comes in at 3 pm to close cook and Janine informs her that the drive thru person called out, so Rachel has to close drive thru as well. That means Rachel will get out at 10:30, instead of 9:30. Anyways, she figured to get most of her stuff done by 8, then start doing drive thru stuff. It worked out perfectly and she even got to talk to Dan on her break. At home, David texts her to see what she’s up to. She tells him about her day and goodnight. She’s off the next two days and she’ll enjoy them. Fake Dan is back to harassing her on telegram and it’s hard to speak to him, cause he sounds like an idiot.

Wednesday, February 19th and Rachel is fed up with her job and is figuring out the right moment to walk out. But, her dad said to not do that until she has another job to go to. Real Dan asks for the remaining $250 to help a kid in need and makes her feel bad, cause she refuses to give it to him. She doesn’t need this aggravation on top of her managers giving her a hard time, cause she’s no longer the favorite cook. Ray Stantz took her spot on that and it pisses her off that he gets away with so much.

Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to pull a double shift as cook. There’s also been a snow storm and Rachel gets a ride from her boss. She sees that Ray Stantz not only didn’t clean his area very good, but didn’t change the filter pad to the original fryer. That’s the final straw and texts her boss with pics.

Rachel: (text) Now this has been going on for the last four Wednesdays I opened. The filter pad wasn’t changed and that was new. This is stuff I would get in trouble for.

Boss: (text) Yes Rachel, you would but I had no clue with not working on Wednesday but I will make sure Ray gets in trouble and that it doesn’t happen again.

Rachel: (text) And there are times he doesn’t filter either.

Boss: (text) Oh no not cool.

Now, will this piss off Ray enough to make him mad at Rachel or quit? Who knows. It felt good to speak up and not feel like a doormat. Also, Real Dan is mad at her for not giving him $250, but he’ll have to get over it. She’d rather have him mad at her, than her parents. Her parents scare her when they get angry. Anyways, cause of the bad weather, Rachel and her coworkers get off at 9, instead of 10 and they give her a ride home. She gets a shower after three days of the water heater being broken until it got replaced. What a long day.

Thursday, February 20th and Rachel tries to trick fake Dan to give up his real identity if he wants more money. Apparently he doesn’t want money bad enough and wishes to keep his identity a secret. Real Dan is giving her the silent treatment and it’s driving her crazy. Three days ago, she pours her heart out to him and all he asked about was the $250 and once he realized he wasn’t getting it, he stopped talking to her. She’s done paying men to love her. Tony Paul, then fake Dan and now real Dan. She’d rather be single, than to have her heart broken by scammers.

Rachel comes in at 4 and dreads to see if her cousin, Ray says anything to her about getting him in trouble with the boss. Rachel does get chewed out by a manager from not cooking livers for a couple last night. It was late, closing up, but that’s no excuse. Anyways, the night becomes steady and she texts Gaylord or her break. David still keeps trying to talk to her, but it’s a good thing Janine keeps her busy cooking chicken. When she gets her stuff done by 9:30, she texts David in hopes that one day, they’ll find time to go on a date. I mean, why not? Dan has pretty much stopped talking to her and might as well go for somebody real.

Friday, February 21st and real Dan still isn’t texting Rachel. I know it’s been four days since he said anything to her and it was over $250 and he just stopped talking to her and not even reading her messages. Well, it was fun while it lasted. She must move on. At least David is texting her. She should forget about Dan and move on. I mean, if she knew he was going to forget about her, she shouldn’t have sent him nudes. She feels used right now and angry. Especially after she developed strong feelings for him. Rachel does go to Ray’s wife, Ramona about her secret relationship with Dan to see if she’ll believe her. She tells Rachel to be careful, cause it could be a scammer. Rachel trusts Ramona.

Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. Since Rachel is on her period, she starts crying over real Dan. Fake Dan however, she blocked again after he wanted her social security number. But thanks to him, she’s in love with the real Dan Aykroyd. Now real Dan might be a scammer as well, so it makes her wonder who she sent her nudes to. Anyways, it becomes a busy night and even without a break, she gets her stuff done by 9:30.

Saturday, February 22nd and Rachel sends one last text to real Dan, confessing her love for him. She does consider going back to Gaylord again, but keeps it to herself this time. Especially until after the court date next Thursday. She does go in at 2 to close cook. By the time she gets her break, she hears from real Dan. Apparently he was sick, but what’s annoying is that he still talks about the $250 and not the fact that she loves him. It turns out to be a busy night and Rachel gets her stuff done by 9:30. She goes home to shower, cause tomorrow morning is church.

Sunday, February 23rd and Rachel goes to church with her family. After that, she goes into work at 3 PM to close cook. She doesn’t hear from Dan today and that’s just depressing. Janine tells Rachel that this David guy met someone and Rachel couldn’t care less. Zoey had made a couple attempts at bleaching and toning her dark hair, which turns her hair orange. It turns out to be very busy day and since her boss accuses her of using the same pictures of her fryers to upload to the cook group, Rachel adds an object to the pictures to be a smart ass. She gets her stuff done by 9:30 and when she gets home, she listens to music until she falls asleep. Tomorrow is her day off and she will use it to relax and do laundry.

Monday, February 24th and Rachel sends Dan an image of a defective iTunes gift card to persuade him to not ask her for any more gift cards. That or he’s smart enough to figure out she downloaded the pic off google. The fact he’s not talking to her, cause of the money just makes him feel like a scammer. Anyways, they argued over it. He called her stupid for not being attentive.

Rachel: (text) I’m sad, cause who is going to pay me back for buying a defective iTunes gift card? There’s money I’m not getting back. Don’t ever ask me to do this again.

Dan: (text) You should watch your tone, Rachel. How could you be so reckless in the first place?

Rachel: (text) It came like that. Is that all you care about now?

Dan: (text) Not at all, but why are you blaming me for a mistake you made? That was dumb of you, Rachel.

Rachel: (text) I’m sorry, I don’t want to argue about this. Can we please just change the subject?

Then he stays quiet the whole day. David texts her and says the rumours about him finding another woman is false. He really likes her and he hopes she hasn’t given up on him. He even sends her a dick pick and she’s not impressed.

Rachel also gets her taxes back, so she gives $2,600 to her parents and almost $3,000 to the bank. She still owes the bank $2,600. David also texts her and they both agreed to wanting to kiss each other on Wednesday. She must not be tempted to giving real money to Dan. He’s a scammer. The real actor wouldn’t belittle her and put her down for not having the gift card.

Wednesday, February 26th. Rachel goes into work at 9:30 AM and the first thing she tells Janine that this David guy sent her a dick pic. Janine is one of the managers there and has a laugh at the thought. She even gives Rachel some pearls of wisdom about trying to hook up with a guy with four kids and three baby mommas. Men like that are bad news, Janine says. So when David shows up at noon, he shows up with another woman and he was kissing her. Rachel texts him to never talk to her again and blocks his number and Facebook profile.

Night shift and it’s a busy night. Rachel doesn’t get her second break 6 1/2 hours after her first one, so her feet are sore and she’s hungry. On her break, she noticed that Gaylord had sent her $440 in alimony. It’s tempting to send $250 to Dan, but she must resist. But no. She gives him $50, but only if he was online to chat and it was a decent conversation. No arguing. On Thursday, she uses $50 to treat herself and her parents to Taco Bell. It was a good lunch.

Friday, February 28th and Rachel attends a virtual court date for child support with Gaylord. His child support goes up $50 and is $2,000 behind on child support. Then he still owes her $750 in alimony. Rachel gets paid $753. She gives her parents $305 and doesn’t have to worry about the phone bill this week. She saves the $75 and $85 for when she hangs out with her friends on March 8th. Now she has $258 to go shopping with and has $710 in her Savings account. She even spends $30 on DoorDash.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close cook. Her boss asks why she wanted March 8th off and it’s because she wanted a day to go out of town and get her hair done. Thats if her boss lets her have that day off. It becomes a very busy night. Rachel rushes to get her stuff done by 9:30 and a coworker asks if she could cook a filet for her to take home. Of course Rachel agreed, but that was before Rachel took out the trash. A bag of trash ripped and got trash goo all over her shirt and a pile of slop on the ground next to the dumpster. Rachel scooped it up with her bare hands and came in to tell her supervisor what happened. The other coworker got mad that she couldn’t get her filet for her sandwich, but Rachel had her hands in garbage slop and smelled like a garbage can. No sandwiches will be made. She couldn’t wait to get home and shower.

Saturday, March 1st and Rachel goes in at  2 pm to close cook. She hopes today isn’t as busy as it was the last two days or she’ll be working 7 1/2 hours without a break. The last two nights, she didn’t get a break, cause it was so busy and would be 30 minutes behind in her work. Hopefully tonight will be better. It’s a very busy night and for a moment, Rachel accepted she may not get her break. She even gets grease burned a couple times. But Janine worries about her and gives her a break. She does manage to get all her stuff done by 9:30. She goes home to shower and think about Dan. Also, Zoey has eight grade graduation pics coming up and Rachel fills out the application. She forgets Zoey is growing up.

Sunday, March 2nd and Rachel does take $200 out of her savings account to give to Dan as a gift card. As far as what her parents know, she only has $500 saved up, so they don’t get suspicious. Hopefully, he doesn’t ask for any more gift cards and he doesn’t. Rachel and Dan have a pleasant conversation before she goes into work at 4 pm to close cook. Janine accuses Rachel of ignoring her yesterday and it wasn’t on purpose. Rachel was probably in the cooler laying stuff out or doing dishes or filtering her fryers. Anyways, it’s a slow and easy night and Rachel gets off at 9:30. She goes home and thinks about Dan.

Monday, March 3rd and Rachel gets called in to open cook, due to her boss’s sudden illness. Rachel texts her boss , concerned and her boss appreciates her support. She texts Dan that she loves him and soon after, David (the same David that looks like a black Egon) comes in and blows her away with a kiss. Not just any kiss. This was out in the hallway. He pushes her up against the wall and sticks his tongue in her mouth. Her hat even falls off her head. This kiss leaves her confused and starts crying when she goes back to cooking chicken, cause she loves Dan.

She gets off work at 4 and her cousin Ray comes in as the night shift cook. Does she go out with David or avoids him and goes home? She’d rather go home and text Dan. She goes to Walmart with her dad and texts David to meet her there, but she won’t be spending any time with him, cause she’ll be going back home with her dad. Her dad actually got to meet him and her dad is cautious and hopes this David guy isn’t an asshole.

Chapter 14

Tuesday, March 4th and Rachel decides to message fake Dan to get him to reveal himself, but turns out to be an argument, cause he’s so stubborn. She got him mad enough to call her a “broke ass bitch” and “Loser” before blocking her. The trash takes itself out. Rachel is also feeling more attracted to David and calls him sexy. Rachel goes into work at 4 to close cook. While cooking livers, she gets popped in the face with grease. She cries at first, then is okay to work as the night goes on. It’s a slow night and Rachel couldn’t wait to get out by 9:30, cause she has to work a 12 hour shift tomorrow.

Wednesday, March 5th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to pull a double shift as cook. She is worried about her boss in the hospital over lung cancer. Who knows when the boss will be back. David comes in on her break and they have a conversation about him wanting a polygamist relationship and she disagrees. They end their lunch break with a hug and French kiss. Her manager says next time she sees tongue action between them, Rachel will get a write up and Rachel doesn’t want that. She ends up blocking David again.

Night shift comes around and it’s a slow night. An easy night for Rachel. Janine gives her a tip for Rachel to only do her work and haul ass and not worry about anyone else’s dishes. Rachel does them, so she could be liked by her coworkers. Anyways, she gets done by 9:30 and goes home to shower. While showering, she realizes by using a lot of shampoo, that she couldn’t wait to cut her hair. It’s just in the way. She finally gets a sentence out of the real Dan, what is better, than complete silence.

Friday, March 7th and Rachel comes in at 1 to side pack until 4, them had to close cook. She finds out her friends ain’t coming to hang out with her until 4 pm tomorrow and this infuriates her, cause she could have worked day shift instead of making her cousin, Ray pull a double. But why didn’t her friends request the day off like she did? And are any places to get her hair cut will be open late? Rachel is fuming. What’s done is done.

Anyways, at work, Rachel gets wrote up for the mess by the dumpster from the other day. She didn’t clean it, cause it’s by the dumpster. Not where people sit and eat. What’s on the ground shouldn’t matter and hoped the rain would wash it away, but apparently not. Her manager asked her to do something and she didn’t do it. Rachel is angry, no matter what. Anyways, it turns out to be a very busy night and Rachel doesn’t get her break until 8. She sits down to eat something quick and gets back to doing her cleaning. At 9:30, she does tell her dad she got wrote up and he shakes his head in disappointment. After working ten days straight, she’s looking forward to tomorrow.

Saturday, March 8th Rachel does hang out with her friends to get her hair cut and talk about guys. The first thing Rachel does is get her hair cut and since it was her friend’s birthday, she paid for her hair cut and paid for both their meals at Burger King. Then goes to her friends’ house to hang out with burgers, hotdogs and ice cream cake. Rachel gets home by 9 PM and her parents get to see her with short hair and she tells them about her day. Tomorrow, her coworkers will see her with her hair cut and ask about her day off.

Sunday, March 9th and Rachel gets a migraine. She takes something for it and the pain is gone in 30 minutes. She texts fake Dan, cause the real Dan hasn’t been online in days. Trying to get fake Dan out of the habit of scamming people is a challenge. She goes into work at 4 to close cook. It turns out to be a slow day, up until it gets busy the moment her supervisor sends her on break at 7:30. She steps back into the kitchen long enough to cook up three bags of chicken and finishes her break sitting down. Why she getting her break for only 5 hours tonight? Cause she got called into work tomorrow to close drive thru and that will put her in overtime.

Tuesday, March 11th and Rachel ended up coming in at 2 pm to close cook yesterday, cause Ray Stantz was in overtime. Better than closing drive thru, especially since Rachel has to come in at 8:30 AM to open cook and put away truck inventory. While she’s at it, lay out four boxes of frozen chicken and thaws out a box of strips in the sink. It becomes a busy lunch hour. David comes in and tries to talk to her, but Janine has told Rachel to ignore him. She also gets her schedule and only gets Thursday off. Also, for such a day that normally sells out on dark meat, she cooks a lot of it and white meat ends up being the top seller for the lunch rush. Surprise! Inspector shows up and Rachel is very nervous. She’s trying very hard to cook chicken and clean up after herself during inspection. Her managers have no problem telling her what she forgot to do already, which adds to the panic. Did they pass? She won’t know until later.

She gets off work at 4 and goes home to relax before finally putting away her laundry. She also remembers she got $350 from Gaylord in child support. Fake Dan is also being annoying. She only talks to him, cause real Dan isn’t online, which is frustrating. Since inspection happened, management can stop being so uptight about it.

Wednesday, March 12th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 am to pull a double as a cook. Inspection was a fail. Figured that Rachel was the one who screwed it all up. She was nervous during the first hour of inspection. Now what? Rachel asks her boss to see what failed them. But her boss is angry.

Boss: People not doing their job, blue towels out of the bucket in the cook area, just some different things. Just got to remember to pick up after yourself and do your job and everything will be fine.

Janine: Just remember, try not to get nervous. And if you think it's wrong go ahead and fix it. But let's this be a learning experience for all of us and next time do better. Thank you and it is all okay.

That still makes Rachel feel like she’s the one who failed inspection. Anyways, there’s an inspection in 30 days, so Rachel hopes she doesn’t have to cook that day. KFC gets slammed the moment the doors open and has not let up when Rachel goes on her first break. It’s a nice day, so Rachel enjoys her lunch outside. When she gets back from break and starts filtering her fryers, she wasn’t paying attention and one of the fryers almost overfills with oil.

Night shift became so busy, Rachel starts getting worn out and starts hallucinating. She hears voices, thinks she saw Deborah in the lobby, almost passed out and has a hard time forming sentences. She gets her break at 7:30 and enjoys a chicken sandwich with hot honey. When she clocks back in, she focuses on her getting her stuff done and going home to shower and enjoy her only day off tomorrow. She also talks to fake Dan, cause the real Dan is rarely online anymore. She needs a Dan to keep her company.

Friday, March 14th and it’s payday for Rachel. She got 82 hours total in two weeks, so she’s expecting a sweet paycheck. It’s $890 and she gives her parents $400, then pays $75 towards her phone bill. She spends $91 at Walmart and puts the remaining $300 in her savings account. You think she’s going to tell fake Dan she got paid? No. She blocks him anyways.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close cook. It’s a steady night and tonight, Rachel stays and helps close with Janine to get out before the severe thunderstorm hits. They end up clocking out at 10 pm. Rachel couldn’t sleep anyways, cause she’s woken up by the sirens and thunderstorms going on outside. She prays there’s no tornado.

Saturday, March 15th and Rachel is jealous that she’s not getting any attention from the real Dan Aykroyd. Has no trouble with meeting up with his fans for a signing, but she is left in the void of Telegram waiting to be responded to. It’s not fair. It has been two weeks since she last had a conversation with him and it was after she gave him $300 and nudes. He got what he wanted from her and just abandoned her on Telegram. She can’t shake the fact that she has fallen madly in love with him. What is she supposed to do with that? She wants to cry. But she’ll stay loyal to him for a while.

Rachel comes in at 2 to close cook and she’s been told to train a new cook. Ray Stantz trained him on day shift yesterday and Rachel must train him on night shift. But that’s not tonight. It turns out to be a busy night and Rachel still gets her stuff done by 9:30. She showers and dresses for church tomorrow. Tomorrow, she doesn’t have to go into work until 3pm to cook.

Monday, March 17th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. She gets mad when a coworker grabs a couple chicken strips with his bare hands and when she tells a manager, nothing is done about it. This makes her mad. She’s also in contact with another fake Dan on Facebook messenger. She’s bored. she thinks the real Dan is done with her after she gave him $300. She’s in love with Dan Aykroyd and talking to fake Dan’s might help her get over him. Anyways, this third Dan is short lived, cause he sent a voice clip and he sounded foreign. Whatever. Blocked.

Anyways, back to work and Rachel had to lay out a box of frozen chicken last night to thaw out overnight, cause of a chicken shortage. Saint Patrick’s Day turns out to be a very slow day at work. She goes shopping after work at 2:30. She goes home to realize that the prediction to meet her soulmate today, who’s actually supposed to be someone who knows her and to say that they miss her and thinking about her, is actually just a crock. Gaylord was the only man to have a conversation with her today. So, Gaylord is her soulmate?

Tuesday, March 18th and Rachel finds a 4th Dan Instagram and he instantly welcomes her with open arms and takes her word for it that she loves him. When he asks for a fan card, which is a scam, her heart is broken and she blocks him. She’s definitely in love when she wants attention and his affection. She’ll never get it. She might as well go back to New York.

Rachel comes in at 4 to close cook. It starts out to be a very busy day until she gets her break at 7. Half way through her break, a bunch of people come in and this is frustrating to Rachel. Especially after learning that her cousin, Ray has put in his two weeks notice. On her break, she calls Gaylord and he tells her he’s coming down this weekend for Zoey’s 14th birthday. Rachel wants to hook up with him so bad on her only day off on Saturday.

Wednesday, March 19th and Rachel comes in to work a double shift. For the first half, she starts her period two days early and she texts her mom to bring her a couple pads. It makes sense why she was cranky and emotional yesterday and woke up this morning with a migraine. Anyways, lunch was steady. She did think about her conversation with her parents about wanting to sleep with Gaylord this weekend and they are disappointed in her decision. Especially since he should only be spending time with his daughter for her birthday.

Night shift and Rachel’s migraine returns, making it difficult to focus on her work. She just wants to clean up and go home. Her supervisor gives her an ibuprofen, so she could cook some chicken. She gets her work done by 9:30 and on the way home, Rachel’s dad says that Zoey is upset at the fact that Rachel wants to go back to New York with her dad. Rachel explains that she only wants sex from Gaylord and her dad understands. It’s late and tomorrow, Rachel will do her laundry before going to work at 4 to cover Ray’s shift.

Friday, March 21st and apparently, Gaylord is supposedly on the road to come see Rachel and be there for Zoey’s birthday. In the morning, she’s afraid to call Gaylord, cause she’ll get sad or angry if he’s not on the road. It’s best to be surprised. Anyways, she’s hoping to sleep with Gaylord to get over Dan, but it doesn’t look like Gaylord will be showing up.

Rachel comes in at 4 and this time, she doesn’t want a break. Every time she gets one, halfway through her break, it gets busy and Rachel would have to cook chicken off the clock. Last night, not only did she give up 10 minutes of her break to cook chicken, her supervisor shorted her five minutes. She got her stuff done at 9:20 and her supervisor clocked her out at 9:15. Maybe she’ll have better luck on day shift when her and Ray switch. She’s so done with night shift. Tonight, it gets busy. She gets home and watches as her parents discipline Zoey for having a vape at school. Rachel feels anxiety and scratches herself as punishment for not standing up for Zoey. After a shower, Rachel’s parents say they will support any decision she makes, so that whole scene in the kitchen was so pointless.

Saturday, March 22nd and Rachel lets Zoey go to her friend’s house for her birthday. Especially after what happened last night was a bit of an overreaction. She also learns that Gaylord hasn’t left New York yet and she basically told him there’s no point in coming down, cause today is Rachel’s only day off this week. She’ll just spend the day DoorDashing. Also, she finally hears from the real Dan Aykroyd and it’s such a relief. He’s been feeling under the weather and still has thought about her.

Rachel couldn’t avoid her parents all day, especially if she had to use the bathroom. The first thing her mom does is jump down her throat and express major disappointment on Rachel’s decision on letting Zoey leave the house. I mean, her mom said it was her decision to make as a parent, but her mom was hoping she’d make the right decision. Rachel failed. Anyways, she orders Sonic to cheer herself up and thinks about Dan all day long.

Monday, March 24th and it’s Zoey’s 14th birthday. Also, the new cook opens today and does he show up? She asked her manager in advance that she’d show up if the new cook didn’t show up. Anyways, he does and Rachel comes in at 12 to do prep until 4 and then goes to close cook. She meets this new cook and he’s hot. He’s the 30 year old son of Walter Peck with his short, red hair. She introduces herself to him and tries to stay professional.

Night shift and it turns out to be busy for a Monday. Ray Zeddemore had come in and kissed her by the bathrooms. She’s worried she could get in trouble, cause of the cameras. She had told him she didn’t want to commit and he kissed her anyways. Now, she’s worried day shift will make fun of her because of this. She gets off at 9:30 PM and she goes home to think about Dan. Especially after she had a realistic dream about him.

Chapter 15

Tuesday, March 25th and Rachel got in trouble by her manager from flirting with the new cook yesterday. Today, she comes in at 8:30 AM to open cook and put away truck inventory. She’s not happy to give up her days to sleep in, cause Ray Stantz wanted to bust ghosts during the day and cook at night. Anyways, it’s a steady lunch hour and Rachel gets her break at 2 pm. The rest of her shift turns out to be pretty slow. Rachel went to her manager about working a double and unloading a big truck on Friday. She suggests to get through this week and next week, train the new cook to open up on truck days. After work, she uses the time to rest and talk to another Fake Dan and Tony Paul is back.

Wednesday, March 26th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 to open cook. For the first time in three months, she doesn’t have to pull a double today. But wait a minute. Her double shift is now Friday and has to do truck again. Anyways, it’s a busy lunch day and she’s assigned to clean the entire chicken cooler from top to bottom. Then her manager asks if she wanted to pull a double and she declines. She’s already got a double on Friday. When she gets home, she spends her evening texting the new fake Dan and Tony Paul. Apparently, he’s still hung up on her and lives in California now. She thinks talking to both of them is a waste of time and blocks the fake Dan.

Thursday, March 27th and Rachel finally got her computer set up and got all those Tony pictures off her phone and now she can finally move on from Tony and block him from her life. She goes into work at 9:30 AM and prepares for the inspection from the new KFC owners. It’s a slow day, til she goes on break and a bunch of people come in to eat. She’s very tired and hopes to not get bothered by anyone to cook chicken.

She does get paid that night $883. She gives her parents $400 and pays $75 towards her phone bill, spends $190 at Walmart and puts the remaining $200 in her savings account. She’s also missing the real Dan Aykroyd so much. A part of her wants to give up on waiting for him and the other part is telling her to hold on and be patient with him. Especially since he’s old.

Friday, March 28th and Rachel comes in at 8:30 am to put away truck inventory and pull a double shift as cook. Why is she still pulling doubles when there’s three cooks? Not sure why. Anyways, two people call out and one person quits, making it feel agonizing for Rachel to pick up the slack, especially when it gets busy and her sciatica acts up, making it hard for her to stand and walk. Also, since some people called out for tomorrow, Rachel has to pull another double and Rachel is already in pain. She also couldn’t go a whole break without someone asking when she’ll be back. This is annoying.  Rachel should make her managers wait an extra minute every time they bother her on her break. She gets her stuff done by 9:40 and goes home to relax.

Saturday, March 29th and Rachel comes in at 9:30 AM to open cook and help side pack, as part as her double shift. It starts out to be a good day and on break, Rachel couldn’t make it through half her break on a slow day without someone calling her out to cook chicken. This is frustrating. Managers need to learn to cover her if they send her to break. I bet Ray Stantz doesn’t get bothered on his breaks.

Anyways, night shift and Rachel switches to front counter. Something she hasn’t done in a while and has wanted to do for a while. Janine is the closing manager and buys pizza for the night crew. It’s a steady night and by the end of the night, Rachel’s feet and back hurt. She wished she had a masseuse for her feet and back. Before leaving at 8:30, Rachel gets called in to work 4 to 9 on tomorrow to do front counter. It’s better than closing drive thru. She also misses Dan Aykroyd. Also Janine tells Rachel she’s closing manager and no flirting with the new cook.

Monday, March 31st and Rachel decides to be on her computer all day and gets some good news. Walmart calls her for a job interview to come in at 4 pm. She’s excited and tells her parents. Zoey just tells her that the job is disappointing and would be too hard for Rachel. Not if the job pays more and whatever her first day is depends on how she’ll leave KFC. Zoey also surprises Rachel and sees her conversation with fake Dan, who’s denying that she sent him any money and he’s a completely different Dan. This is gaslighting at its finest.

Rachel also gets her schedule and she’s not happy with working three doubles this week. Perhaps Walmart is her next calling. If she does get the job, she won’t tell KFC. She’ll never hear the end of it from her coworkers. She also talks to the authentic Dan Aykroyd and bonds with him quickly through texts. The supposedly real Dan was a scammer too, so that was heartbreaking. Here’s how her job interview went for curbside service at Walmart: it went very well and she’ll start her job next week and it starts at $14 an hour. She’s very excited. So one more week at KFC. It will be hard for her to not spill the beans about quitting. She does stay up late as she gets creative enough to write a Ghostbusters sequel to Frozen Empire.

Tuesday, April 1st and there’s a group chat for the cooks about truck inventory not being put away properly. She sees Ray Stantz kissing the boss’s ass about he does everything perfectly and Rachel just goes off in the group chat.

Rachel: (text) You all are absolutely right. There's no excuse for it. I do try and it exhausts my strength to get the boxes on the shelves. The other day, there was three boxes I couldn't get off the floor and asked for help and never got it. So I don't ask for help. I praise anyone who can put truck away completely and not be exhausted. It should be appreciated I can get a majority of heavy boxes off the floor, but no. It's just all I can do, especially since I have back problems.

While waiting for a response, she apologizes to her managers for causing a stir over the whole truck thing. Anyways, she opens cook and the big fryer has issues and has to use the small fryer, which makes her chicken look undercooked. She gets chewed out to where she feels like crying and quitting. To lift her spirits, her Walmart orientation is Saturday morning. She can’t wait to quit on Friday. She gets out of work at 9:30 and when she gets home, stays up late texting Dan Aykroyd. Would you believe there’s an instant and romantic connection?

Wednesday, April 2nd and she comes in at 9 AM to open cook. It’s hard for Rachel not to say anything to her coworkers about quitting. She plans on calling KFC after her orientation to tell them she won’t be coming in for her shift on Monday. It’s busy day and the energy drink she had made her feel more tired. She wanted to pass out and her back was hurting. She gets off at 4, so Rachel could write her story. But there’s a bad storm and she couldn’t. Bummer. Tomorrow, she has off and plans to rest her back for Friday.

Friday, April 4th and Rachel’s last day at KFC. She has to put away truck inventory and pull a double. This time, she does ask her managers for help and they do help her put truck away. But lunch hour gets busy to a point where Rachel feels like she wants to walk out. During her break, she’s worried that Dan hasn’t even read her messages and a coworker asks how long her break is, so Rachel takes an extra minute for the interruption. Night shift gets busy and Rachel gets frustrated when she doesn’t get her second break and cries about how bad she hates her job while taking out the trash. She goes home at 9:30 PM and is glad to hear from Dan. Tomorrow might be her last day at KFC.

Saturday, April 5th and Rachel comes in at 9 am to open cook. This might be her last day at KFC, depending on how her orientation at Walmart goes tomorrow. Anyways, another stressful day and the cook calls out for night shift. She refuses to stay and pull a third double, so she clocks out for break, calls her dad to pick her up under the influence that she got off work early. She knows eventually that her managers and coworkers will be blowing up her phone by 3 pm, wondering where she’s at. She doesn’t say anything to them yet. She does tell her parents what really happened and that she walked out on her job. What a rush this is. Her heart is racing. Her parents were not upset, cause it was her choice and she does have another job in place. This her message to KFC.

Rachel: (text) I’m sorry, but I quit. I wanted to for some time and I didn’t want to pull a third double this week. I wanted to be well rested before I started my new job tomorrow. I know the timing is terrible and I apologize. I’m not coming back.

The comments were endless and probably hateful.

Janine: (text) Wow. I didn’t think you’d actually quit on me.

Rachel shrugs. Her boss’s response was more like putting a guilt trip on Rachel. That’s what it felt like and Rachel has to come in tomorrow to return her uniforms. Fine. She emotionally detached herself from KFC, so that when she left, she wouldn’t feel guilty about it. So long KFC. She spends the rest of the day relaxing and texting Dan. It was a good three years. It just got harder and she just couldn’t take it anymore. She was hurting physically and mentally and the job was just getting too hard and too stressful. She encountered lots of people and experienced a lot of drama. Maybe this new job will be better.
