Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Summary:

So we find out how it all began.

THIRD PERSON POV:

In a forest clearing, a young man is seen hiding behind bushes to keep himself hidden from his prey but not even the lush green bushes could hide the excited smile painted on his face.

Excited to catch his unknowing prey, waiting for it to fall into his trap. The young man readies his arrow going for the shot when
Rustle, rustle
The peasant runs away alerted of its now unhidden hunter.

The young man turns around with hands on his hips.
Pouting "Cheng Cheng how many times did I tell you not to scare away my prey".
"Who are you calling Cheng Cheng 😡" says the angry teen in purple known as Jiang Cheng.

"Anyways everyone is supposed to assemble in the Hall room what are you doing here, Da- Shixiong?" he says calling him with his title in a teasing manner.

Oh shit!! I didn't forget anything important today right? or else Madam Yu will have my hide😱. Trying to list out the things he had to do today.

I completed all my lessons, I finished writing all my reports, I went around the town checking for any surge in resentment, I definitely did not forget to steal from Lao ren !!
( Chinese word for Old man, idk how to get subtext that sends you to the explanation at the end, if anyone knows do tell in the comments).
What am I forgetting Shidi?

JC: Shakes his head. You are a hopeless case you know.

WWX: Hey!!

JC: Anyways, a Wen delegation was spotted near the outskirts, mother has asked for everyone to be assembled near hall.

Hmm 🤔 Wen Sect you say. What could they need from our sect? Anyways since Madam Yu has called we better hurry.
"Please show the way Er- Shixiong" he says teasing him back for earlier.
JC: Hmph.

Few moments later:

They enter a bustling town. Hawkers and shopkeepers promoting their goods with loud greetings trying to attract customers.
"Greetings!! Young Master Wei, Young Master Jiang" calls a street vendor.
WWX: Greetings!! How is the business today Lao ban? ( Chinese for Boss)

All good Young Master Wei , wait I have packed some meat buns for you and your friends.
Aww you didn't have to but thanks, I will definitely share these these with my Shijie.
Walking away Have a good day.
The Shop keeper turns around to find 2 silver ignots on the table.

Ahhh, that Young Master Wei so sneaky, even though he didn't have to.

JC: Stop halting after every two steps . At this rate we won't reach the hall before nightfall.
You better hurry up or I am gonna leave you behind.
"Aiyya wait for me Jiang Cheng!!" says Wei Wuxian hiding the package in his dress folds. Running after him to catch up.

In the training grounds:

WWX: Okay everyone gather here clapping his hands, we have to be on our best behaviour. It seems a Wen delegation has arrived with a message so we gotta show them what Yunmeng Jiang is made of, got it.

You know the drill. Don't embarrass yourselves in front of the Wens if you don't want another month filled with harsh training supervised by Madam Yu, he adds jokingly.
Everyone shudders.

Silence descends as Madam Yu and Sect leader Jiang enter the hall along with Young Mistress Jiang.
Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng brighten up looking at their sister's arrival. Jiang Yanli sends them a small smile before going back to putting on a neutral face.

Sect leader Jiang surveys the surroundings and gives an approving nod to Wei Wuxian. Seeing this Jiang Cheng's clenches his fists behind his back with a scowl on his face..
(Why did he praise only him? Why can't he look at me for once...)
Before his thoughts could spiral down the lane, their arrival interrupts his thoughts.

Announcing the arrival of Wen sect.
Everyone stands up even straighter (if that is even humanly possible) waiting for the tension to break with a bated breath.

Everyone bows to the Chief Cultivator (Wen HanSheng) and his second wife, Wen-er- Furen.
Hahaha, forgive me for this sudden visit, I was travelling with er-Furen when she said she wished to taste lotus seeds and who am I to deny my lady's wishes.
JFM: Of Course, Wen-Zongzhu we will be happy to prepare the freshest harvest and send it over to the Wen sect.
Tells servants to prepare the guest quarters.
WHS: There is a matter my wife wished to discuss, if you are up for it?
JFM: Of Course, please he says doing a welcome gesture towards the Meeting room.

Wen HanSheng, the current Chief Cultivator (Xiandu)
, father of Wen Ruohan, Wen Xu( with his first wife) and Wen Chao ( with his second wife). As for his personality, I will say he leans more towards strict but jovial types???

Yup, I made them brothers in this AU 😁.
And Wen Ruohan will be a year or two older than Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue.
Also the Wen Ruohan I imagine is the one they show in the Donghua, cuz he is handsome.

And so I realized how difficult it is to express your thoughts in words that describe what you exactly wanna say😭😭.

How do writers do that?? They are so amazing.. 🤩 🤩

Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Continuing from where we left off.

 

The disciples in the training ground started murmuring to each other. Wei Ying addressed them, "Remember what I told you guys. Let's not create a scene. Since the Sect Leaders have entered the office, we should focus on our work." Jiang Cheng added, "Let's continue with the training." Wei Wuxian then instructed a disciple, "Increase the guards around the Pier and near the Guest quarters. Tell them to be on the lookout for any disturbances. Also, station some experienced servants near their quarters." The disciple nodded and left.

After addressing the security measures, Wei Wuxian said to Jiang Cheng, "Now that's taken care of. Let's go, Jiang Cheng." Jiang Cheng questioned, "Go where?" Wei Wuxian replied, "Of course, to keep an eye on them." Jiang Cheng reacted, "You!!" Wei Ying raised his hands and said, "I was joking, Jiang Cheng. You need to calm down."

In the hall, the Sect Leaders settled down with their wives, and Jiang Yanli served them tea. The conversation then shifted to the topics of territories and merchant groups. Wen Er-furen brought up the topic of weddings, mentioning Jiang-Guniang's betrothal to Jin-Gongzi and the potential match of their son Wen Ruohan.

Wen HanSheng expressed his thoughts, "That troublesome kid with his brazen attitude. I don't know if anyone would ever wish to marry him." Jiang Fengmian intervened, "Many would be happy to marry a young man as brilliant as Wen-Gongzi," with a polite smile on his face.
Hearing this, HanSheng sighs. That brat doesn't listen to me at all. So many proposals have come, but he doesn't accept any of them; if anything, he spends more of his time in the training grounds than his quarters.

Wen Er-furen said, "I am worried about our sons. Chao-er is married already, and Wen Xu says he has no interest in marriage. We respect that, but we can't let the same thing happen with Ruohan. I am worried about him."

Yu Ziyuan pipes up, "I can introduce a few young maidens from the Meishan Yu clan if you wish." Wen er Furen says, "It's just that Ruohan has never expressed any interest in women other than his usual visits to the pleasure house." Wen HanSheng clears his throat "Ahem.", "Oh my, what am I saying? It would have been good if it was someone who could keep him in check and help him" Wen Er-furen adds hastily.

Wen HanSheng then says Anyway, I heard you have got quite talented disciples; they won many competitions in the previous discussion conference held in Qishan Wen. Would you mind if I looked around the training grounds in the morning? 
Jiang Fengmian thinks in his mind, so he is gonna spend the night here.
Replies, of course, our disciples may be lacking please be forgiving if they make any mistakes.
Hahaha, we shall see,  HanSheng laughs while stroking his beard.

Wen Er Furen and Madam Yu exchange a few more words before retiring to their respective rooms.

In the evening everyone gathers in the dining hall.

Servants start streaming in, bringing with them delicious-smelling food.
Wei Ying, not one to wait, eagerly welcomes them, ready to empty the plates.

I have heard people in Yunmeng prefer their food spicy seems like it is true,
she says looking at Wei Wuxian adding Chilli Sauce to his already dangerously red bowl of rice 🍚.

Jiang Cheng says make no mistake it is only him that prefers such horrendously spicy food.
Yunmeng has very different preferences than Wei Wuxian.
Wei Ying laughs while saying Madam, to me, food tastes better with lots of spices. The spicier the better.
Jiang Cheng gives him a look of disdain, not everyone has the hobby of destroying their taste buds.

Wei Ying continues laughing.
Jiang Yanli smiles and tells him not to add any more spice. Wei Wuxian gives her a look of betrayal. Shijie!! He whines.
Wen HanSheng, seeing this, says what a harmonious relationship. My sons all keep trying to one-up the other always throwing barbs at each other. He sighs, truly what a waste he says looking at their Head Disciple.
Jiang Fengmian, seeing this, could not stop himself from frowning.

Chapter 4: Chapter 3

Guys I am so sorry for the late update.. 🙇‍♀️

I don't have my laptop with me and its so hard to type a whole chapter on a mobile phone.

So please forgive me for any grammatical mistakes or for any sentences that don't make sense. 🙏

 

Anyways moving onto the story.

 

The next day, after observing the training in the afternoon, the Wen Sect departs with satisfied smiles adorning their leader's face. Wei Ying, left with nothing to do, tries to sneak out when he sees Jiang Shushu and Madam Yu discussing something in the compound, with Madam Yu doing most of the talking. (More like shouting.)

 

Curious about their discussion, Wei Ying begins to eavesdrop. He hears Madam Yu mentioning a proposal and questioning the repercussions of refusing it. Intrigued, he wonders if they are discussing marriage, perhaps even Jiang Cheng's. However, he dismisses the thought with a snicker, thinking that Jiang Cheng has already been blacklisted.

 

As he tries to leave, he overhears Jiang Fengmian expressing concerns about marrying someone of the same gender whom Wei Ying doesn't even know. Shocked at the mention of his name and marriage in the same sentence, Wei Ying nearly loses his footing. ( No way, did I just hear my name and marriage in the same sentence😱)

Determined to reassure himself, he keeps muttering that "ain't no way I am getting married at this age. Nope, it's not happening to him. Like can you imagine him being married? It will be more believable if it's Jiang Cheng they were talking about. Right, it's not my time yet anyway. Jiang Cheng has to marry first. He must have heard it wrong. Yes, yes! That's it!!

( Yeah, keep telling yourself that.)

 

As he walks away, Jiang Cheng calls out to him, but Wei Ying too preoccupied with his thoughts is unable to hear him. When Jiang Cheng finally manages to get his attention, Wei Ying responds firmly, stating that he is not getting married. Jiang Cheng, shocked by this shocking statement that he could only respond with a confused "what?"

 

As Wei Ying continues walking, Jiang Cheng shouts after him, asking what the hell are you talking about?

Wei Ying shrugs him off still muttering to himself.

 

In the evening during dinner in the dining hall.

 

Jiang Fengmian starts, a-Xian we have a proposal from Wen Sect.

At the mention of his name Wei Wuxian stops the imprompto fight that he and Jiang Cheng were having with their chopsticks under the table. 

 

Madam Yu cut him off shouting Wei Wuxian!!

Wei Ying responds promptly "Yes!! Madam Yu."

"How many years has it been since Yunmeng Jiang has taken you in?" 

"It has almost been 12 years."

Hmm, she says as if considering his answer.

Tomorrow morning be ready for the adoption process. 

Everyone in the hall froze. 

Wh ...what?

Yanli recovers first, Congratulations!! A-Xian now you will be our brother for real. 

Jiang Cheng's mind goes numb. What?(Is father adopting Wei Wuxian? Is mother just going to accept it?) 

He shakes his head looking at his hopeful expression. 

 

Wei Wuxian flustered replies Th- thank you, Madam Yu. Thank you for letting me join this family. It's a great honour. 

 

"Finally, I can be family with Shijie and Jiang Cheng. Wait should I call them a-jie and didi now? I can't believe this is happening for real."

(Can you really believe what Madam Yu says. 

Thought you had grown wiser over the years but apparently not.) 

 

"What is wrong with you? We can finally be family with Shijie and Cheng Cheng. We can be family for real  and not just in name. No one will call me Uncle Jiang's bastard anymore."

 

Madam Yu huffs, don't even bother thinking about contending with a-Cheng for the role of sect heir you understand, it's just a formality to get you married to a match which will be beneficial for Yunmeng Jiang. You will be leaving this place soon enough. 

 

Jiang fengmian raises his voice, San-Niang!!

 

Wei Wuxian's mind come to a halt.

"Wha...  Ah I see so that's  why they decided to alleviate my status from the son of a servant to adopted son of  Sect Leader Jiang after all these years." He thinks bitterly.

 

Of course it was too good to be true. ( Did you expect anything else from the woman who loaths your very existence. It's time she got rid of you from their lives.) 

 

Yanli tries to interrupt them, Mother, but seeing A-Xian's face it seems like that damage has already been done.

And let me tell you guys it's so fucking hard trying to go to classes after a break for so long. I miss my vacations😭😭😭. Most of all I miss sleeping in late😭. I have that privilege no more.

And did you know your bag gets heavier the more you progress in your years in college.😭😭

I thought college bags were supposed to be light and mostly empty but apparently not🙄.
